To all the replies about toxicity, skill and balance this has nothing to do with any of those.

I think the issue here is expectations.

What the game sells itself as is big scary killer chasing down fearful survivors desperately trying to escape.

The reality is most games are time pressured killer sweats to get kills while cocky survivors run around and waste their time as much as possible.

The latter is a much more lackluster game experience, for everybody. Because what's the point of a survival horror when your survival is all but guaranteed for a large proportion of your games. The game itself sets the wrong expectation in the theme and everyone gets pissy and toxic about it and rants about balance.

Agreed. The whole cocky survivor thing goes against what the game sells itself to be.

When you see how much killers tend to tunnel and camp lately, you can understand why some survivors rage quit. Its like.. you can give a ######### about it after 1, 2, even 3 or 4 times happening, but lately almost all killers camp and tunnel at the start of the match.. So if it happen in 80% of the games you play you will get annoyed and i think everyone would get.

So a killer chasing you is reason to rage quit? No such thing as tunneling. Killers are just chasing the easiest kill or the douche that keeps FL clicking them for no reason.

  • @ZephanUnbound said:

Does anyone else understand it? Why quit, get no points for a match, and take a 5 minute matchmaking ban, just because you're unhappy that a killer downed you a little quicker than you had hoped, or because the killer tunneled you or is camping your hook, or because a killer is using a perk that negated your dead hard, or whatever? Even if you're know you're going to be tunneled and hook camped until your death, why quit, it's actually faster to wait for the death on hook, helping your team get some gens done for free in the process, and then get another match, than it is to quit and take a 5 minute matchmaking ban. I just don't get it.

You don't understand one of the simplest most basic forms of human emotion? Anger. Anger is why people quit.

Ok, with all due respect, I refuse to believe that "your team" can see who is remote insta-healing other persons, from a video from the killers perspective. You are not talking to a random Joe here. I can recognize hacks instantly, even the subtle ones after thousands of hours of game time. But there is absolutely 0% chance to identify the actual hacker if he is only doing said stuff.

Only when he is hooking himself and speed hacking can you tell, sure that's the guy. But not with remote insta-heals. Unless you tell me right now, that people are NOT getting banned solely on the fact of insta-heals, only then will I feel at ease. I can tell you I had games like that before, only insta-heals. And the killer reported every single survivor with video evidence. (allegedly)

What more does she have to tell you? You guys keep asking the same thing over and over when it's already been answered.

Are you suggesting there's no point reporting a cheater unless we've got video evidence to back it up?

Every game is like this. Most players don't record every match they play on whatever they are playing. I always felt the report options on games was a waste of time.

Im a survivor main but I enjoy killer more and more.

I need your help because I dont know who to pick next, I want advices and some people stories playing these killers.

Im a Clown main, I think I am a pretty good Clown. I know how to play with M1 killers.

Then I play Legion, I like their playstyle even if they are frustrating sometimes, bdcause you cant down survivors with your power.

And my third main is Nemesis. The first M2 killer I main. It was difficult for me but I really like him now.

Now I want to prestige a fourth killer.

I played Ding-Ding. He is fun, I could be good with practice, but I already play two M1 killer, should I play another ?

I tried Pyramid. I love Silent Hill. But for me its just a slow Nemesis. Now that I am decent with Nemesis, should I try Pyramid again ?

I love Oni. He is good looking, great power. M1 killer at the beginning but when I have my power I feel realllllyyy strong. The only problem I have with Oni are survivors pre dropping pallets. It takes so long to get your first hits and get your power 😕 should I play a killer so easy countered ?

And The Twins. I tried the Twins and I cant say they are bad. They are so evil strong. But the lack of good cosmetics makes me wonder if I should or should not buy them.

I tried Plague and Cenobite too, but I I think they are too difficult for me now. Is Plague a good choice since the rework ?

    Any other ideas ?

Dont say "play what you like" I like all the killer I said, I will prestige all of them one day, I just need to know which one is the next 😊

Play them all. Pick one randomly every match and play. That's what I do.

  • @Frontdoor6 said:

I've been playing the recent update and i have to say, the Boons seem very strong for survivors. One that lets you heal super fast and another that hides both auras and scratch marks, and with no downside given to the survivors at all. Sure, you can snuff it, but they can just get another back up soon after

If it was a kind of 'Reward and Risk' kind of thing, that would be fine

I played a killer match earlier and i lost a survivor because of the scratch mark hiding Boon.

What do you guys think? Should they be nerfed or changed in any way?

No. No one else. Only you.

I've just gone through Trickster's bloodweb, who I barely play, and I see this gem of an add-on:

Killing Part Chords: Increases movement speed while throwing Blades by 1%.

Is this a joke? Why are the numbers so safe? Brown add-ons can do more than barely anything, you know. I've seen a lot of bad browns but this one really gets to me. Is it really supposed to make that much of a difference? To me, it's insulting.

Imagine if there was a toolbox add-on for survivors that said "You repair 2% faster", and they were expected to use it. Survivors would be outraged, calling the game super killer sided.

Add-ons are add-ons. They're supposed to be impactful, to where you can actually tell that there's a difference. I don't see it with this add-on. There's no excuse to make such pathetically mediocre add-ons, and have them take up add-on slots, when you could do so much with add-ons to make the killer's power stronger or more interesting.

I agree. Alot of the perks and add-ons have such miniscule benefits it almost seems like a joke. 1% to 2% bonuses. It's like wow who cares?

The Terminator (1984) was definitely a horror movie, man. A killer robot is chasing her to kill her, and she is literally a final girl.

It's not though. It's always been labeled as an action movie. Since it came out. But whatever. I'm sure you'll argue about that until you're blue in the face.

Not to sound rude, but most often only SWF get the best out of 4 other guys in a game.

    Its not always something good.

The BP grind is just not justified, its to old.

Not really. I run into other capable solo survivors often when I play. You're exaggerating.

  • @SilentShepherd said:

    Killer : T-800

    Codename : The Terminator

Survivors : Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese

Map : You have two choices for the Map. You can either pick the Robotics Factory at the end of the film during the final chase with the final girl (Sarah Connor), or you could pick the Police Dept. Since there's already a RCPD, I would go with the cool Robotics Factory.

Skins : You have several choices of skins for Terminator. You could use him in his full human disguise, or his half human half robot, OR the end of the film when his flesh is burned off and he is a full on robot killer.

Terminator wasn't a horror movie though. DbD goes off of horror.

  • @Wraff said:

Cheaters, DDoS, Swatting. Yeah ######### that. This has only been getting worse since the RE Chapter and BHVR only seems to care enough to respond if a gaming news site shines a light on them.

  • @drakolyr said:

Often matches are shorter and you go out of a match faster.

Why survivors dont get much bloodpoints in general?

A killer gets more BP in every action. Also the categories are easier to do as a killer.

I mean, its frustrating after i got camped or tunneled out of a match and only get 3k BP.

But even when a killer has a bad match, he's still around 15 - 20k bloodpoints.

The categories are terrible aswell, especially if some guys die fast.

Team actions are often earned hard, cause you cant do much. Doing a gen together, healing or taking a hit. There aren't that much more.

The only category you get fast, is target. Generators and exit gates.

I mean, one of the categories for bloodpoints is survival. And mostly you get it trough skillchecks. Cause, camped or tunneled and its out.

Boldness depends on the killer. With boon totems it got a lot easier.

A killer gets 3 categories in one chase. For example, brutality hitting or destroying things. Using his power he gets Devioutness and Hunter for going after a survivor.

Event after the end, he gets the 4th categorie, sacrifice.

I think survivor bloodpoints or the bloodpoints in general should get tweaks.

Maybe also raise the cap from 8k to 10k? We have litterly over 100 perks, more bloodpoints in general wouldnt hurt anyone.

Especially new player or players that didnt play the whole time have a hard time.

Pretty simple to understand. Killers have it harder. They are alone. They don't have 3 other killers to lean on. I play both and I have always felt it harder to play killer.

If you feel that way then perhaps it's best to understand that putting yourself out there for potentially millions of people to see is dangerous. Especially, if you are including your political beliefs in your streaming or you are transgender/gay or whatnot. There are some people out there that will hate you for what you are or what you believe and will do whatever they can to make you pay. If you're going to put yourself out there for everyone to see then I would be prepared for something like swatting to possibly happen.

I also want to point out that camping and tunneling aren't cheap tactics they are only seen that way because that is how the community has labeled them. They are legit in game strategies at the killers disposal they just aren't fun but then again neither are the tactics of survivor with gen "rushing" and holding w

Tunneling is also known as chasing a survivor. Seriously. Something as mundane and basic as chasing a survivor has been turned into some terrible disease by the whiners on this forum.

Let me guess btw. you have thousands of hours and out class your opponents by large. It is great that you are a god killer main that can go out there and never slug, never camp, never tunnel, never hook a survivor twice in a row ... but for the average Joe I can most definitely tell you that going out of your way to avoid these type of actions will simply lose you the game.

*Btw. I don't buy it for a second, even Otz, OhTofu and other that make a point of trying to avoid these tactics... still apply them.

    >The mentality this game and community seems to promote is something i very much dislike. It's an asymmetrical game. It's factually unbalanced and im tired of people trying to prove or assume it is balanced. There are too many perks and killers to make the game balanced now, i think the director said this in an interview how the game's balance is chaotic. For this reason, i've felt this way since the start, that i should just try to have fun and see what happens when i play this game.

i'd be fine with it if this cut both ways but it doesn't, everything about the game is completely slanted in favor of the survivors now and killers have to deal with the "chaos" of their 800 health states and free healing and free unbreakable and there's nothing you can do about it. killers don't get to impart any chaos on survivors because now they have an answer for anything you can possibly do and so much of the game is controlled by survivors. even the game's brand new hex perk is reliant on survivors doing something (cleansing) they don't do anymore because boons are so much better and killers can't stop them from being put up every 5 seconds.

He just said what he dislikes and you come back with a reply that he originally said is part of what he dislikes. You proved his point for him.

Does it annoy you when someone flips you off in real life, it is pretty silly and frankly dumb... look at it from the outside it is just a gesture, yet the intent behind it is pretty clear? Sound notification spamming or macro clicking actually are painfully obnoxious and not actually enjoyable to the ears. If you cannot understand that the acts themselves are meant to provoke a negative reaction, you are not looking at it from an objective standpoint. The fact that it does or does not trigger the other person is actually irrelevant to the fact.

The act of tunneling and camping usually is not intended to annoy or frustrate the other party or deny them fun as they claim, but is a player trying to win a match. Look at it from the outside, being upset about that in a game is also silly and dumb.

No one does in real life though. Because real life has consequences. The Internet rarely does. You can't intertwine the two which is what you're trying to do. If someone wants to come up to me and flip me the bird in real life, consequences of some form will be dealt. None of us can do ######### about trolls online.

I just feel this obligation to play because of these limited time things. I want to stop but I just... can't. I don't know why. Am I insane? Stupid? Both?

Lack of willpower. Mentally weak. Not insane or stupid.

  • @Kalinikta said:

    The challenge is simple:

    • Pick a killer
    • Play the killer
    • Play nicely, never camp, never tunnel

See how survivors respond... every time I start playing the game I try and the result is always the same; Gens fly, survivors click away, tea bag and without failure gather up in the exit gate and wait till the very last moment to leave... because winning alone isn't enough, they need to tea bag at the exit gate or spam you with sound notifications if you don't show up.

Does a video game character rubbing their pixelated taint on the ground bother you that much? Look at it from the outside and you'll realize how silly and frankly dumb it is. On both sides.

  • @Sunbreaker7 said:

Ever since the new boons got introduced, I have been absolutely struggling to keep the pressure up as the survivors keep re-booning the same old totems and making the entire map their healing zone with speeds that I simply can not match in injuring survivors.

Just 1-2 survivors carrying the healing boon perk is enough to make the game extremely hard to win, the likes that have not been seen in the history of DBD. People are literally making YouTube videos showing people just how ridiculous the healing speed can be in its max potential, which is as fast as pallet-breaking animation. How am I supposed to compete with that?! People can literally heal themselves up in mid-chase like no one's business.

I don't want to be forced to tunnel. Over half of the Killers that I used to play and enjoy are now facing impossible matches because their powers are not enough to deal with the boon users. It's like BHVR didn't think about Killers at all when designing this new perk.

Out of all the killers I have tried to fight against the boon survivors, only hag has come out strong enough to compete, as she can lay down traps to surprise and down injured survivors before they can reach boon zone. Everyone else is at the mercy of Boon squads without a chance of a fair fight.

Anyone else struggling against Boon survivors?

It's y'all's own ridiculous rules y'all make for yourself that drive you to this state of mind. Tunnel. Camp if you must. Keep trying to play "fair" while the other side don't give a damn about being fair or not.

  • @Lliart said:

I'm just... so tired of playing killer right now. I know most will tell me to take a break or flame me or whatever, but I just can't deal with playing killer right now. Every game it's a boon totem at the beginning of the game going off, not being able to find said totem due to myself either being in chase or trying to defend gens while generators on the other side of the map are going off, hit validation giving me feedback that I never hit a survivor but also hearing the cry of a survivor being hit dampening my drive even further, making me feel like I was cheated out of a hit despite the server saying otherwise.

It also doesn't help that uncapped healing further demotivates me, making me feel like every move I make is the incorrect one since it's corrected by a perk or another survivor doing a generator.

I know most folks will say "Play to have fun" and while I am appreciative of the sentiment, I'm just so tired that I don't even think I can make my own fun. I don't think I even know how. I can't even play as survivor because I'm terrible at it, despite seeing it as casual and trying to have fun and I can't play Killer since I'm apparently terrible at that and can't even manage a kill. Maybe I'm not in a good mental state to be playing this game, maybe I'm just a terrible player and person.

    Should I uninstall?

If you can't deal with it, and obviously you can't, then quit playing for a while. The hit validation is bugging me as well. I just ignore the boon totems unless I'm on top of one. They aren't worth looking for.

As per usual, with the new killer being available to play, we have yet another chance to see BHVR apply their outdated killer design to another killer.

Really oppressive 1v1, but is hard countered by holding W.

This is an issue that has plagued almost every killer since Blight, Twins can be really oppressive in chase, but can be countered by holding W, Trickster suffers from the same problem, as well as Nemesis and PinHead.

This is not only getting old, but it's making the counterplay some of the most boring stuff in the entire game.

We need more killers with good 1v1, and good map pressure so they don't just have to hold w to punish you, because let's be real, that's not fun for either side.

Y'all need to stop with the word oppressive. It doesn't mean what you think it means.

Lived through all of the "enhancements" the game has introduced and these boons are pathetic. I was on Midwich and each player had CoH and SS and 4 totems going at anyone one time covering both floors. I then when into a haddonfield match with 2 boons and then another haddonfield match and within the first 20 seconds heard a boon turn on. For the first time ever I DC'd as killer and uninstalled. the game has been fun for 5 years but eff this.

I have no idea how BHVR thought this was a good idea and then to follow it up with boon unbreakable. #########?

I haven't played killer for a while because since SBMM every game is stressful, in fact i haven't played Dbd much, maybe every 2-3 days for 2 hours, but only survivor with friends. Now i played killer (my main Wraith only) for a whole evening because of the halloween challenges. It was not a fun experience...

I played him only once after his nerf and thought it's not that much of a change, but now i feel his big lunge was necessary to keep up with all the power creep ranged killers the game got lately. The new boon totems basically counter the hit&run playstyle and chasing with Wraith against good players (i can't see my own rating but everyone had like >1.5k hours) will make you lose the game immediately if you're not running a chase build. The only 3k-4k's i got were on indoor maps or when someone threw (DCing etc.) in the beginning or when i was running best add ons + Ruin + Pop.

I don't want to run the strongest possible builds every game, one of his main assets was his versatility when it comes to builds, but i feel he is very weak against decent survivors because you can easily counter him. Now people will say "everyone is weak against 4 decent survivors" but i feel that the ranged killer meta can hold up if you know what you're doing (seen from my own survivor experiences), while the m1 killers have a hard time when everyone is sweating. You can just throw every pallet and you won't get punished for it because everyone with a decent SBMM rating will do gens whenever possible.

Either you're playing against the best survivors in the world on a consistent basis or you're exaggerating. I play every killer and do well with most of them usually. Sometimes I run into the really good survivor teams. Lots of hyperbole on this forum. It's no wonder the devs ignore most people on this forum.

My friend and I have just been talking about the amount of face-camping and how to combat it. We also got onto killer who tunnel on every game for that easy kill.

We thought about Borrowed Time, which helps the person getting unhooked, by many time's it just ends up with the rescuer getting hooked, especially with Bubba and others with Noed.

It has become a plague in the game, and not even done much by plague, however we have come up with a simple solution. This is not going to make face-campers happy, but any killer main who chooses not to tunnel and camp should not mind.

Make a new perk, call it something like Saviour and make like Borrowed Time for the rescuer. Then either keep Borrowed Time, which will unfortunately take an extra perk space, or make Borrowed Time include a time for the rescuer.

They could even make nerf Micaela boon totems and give her this instead.

Like I said, this was just a simple way, just a way to stop the epidemic of face-campers.

To face-campers, as survivor I feel your pain, when you don't get a kill because the team is looping all game, but have fun, see how many pallets they drop, see if you can find shortcuts., just remember, it's a game, if you lose it's no big thing.

What's the issue with tunneling? It makes logical sense to go after the weakest survivor. Y'all make up problems when they're are none.

I can tell I've played all of the 4vs1 (or 5+vs1) survival games and know what lobby looks like in them, but only in Dead by Daylight survivors are completely blind to the killer account before the match starts.

It's ok survivors don't see what killer has been chosen by the player. It's ok, the game hides killer's perks and add-ons until the end of the game, but to be honest for me it's completely useless, since you need only 1-2 minute from the start of the match to determine all of the perks killer is using if you're playing in a team.

But why did you decide to hide the killer account/nickname? It's not fair for others, the killer can fully examine you before the match (and leave the lobby without penalty of course), or be very toxic to you because in the previous match you've survived or played like a pro. For example, for the last few weeks I see half of the killers have VACs and ingame bans, and they fully deserve it since they were playing very toxic and suspected hacking during the match.

I'm not asking you why your Easy Anti-Cheat engine blind to private cheats everyone can obtain for a few bucks. I'm not asking you why your support is so slow to respond and your ingame reporting system looks like it's not working. I'm asking you why you are not letting us be a second shield against these players? If I see a player with a fresh account, 30 hours of DbD and 100% of achievements I don't want to play with him. If I see a player with a VAC/ingame ban I don't want to play with him. If I see a player with a good Steam account and 2000 hours of DbD I want to play with him since it's a true challenge.

This is such a dumb question. If survivors knew who the killer is or the person playing the killer then all they have to do is meta game for that killer. As a killer we cannot change who we are playing once we have qued. Survivors should not be able to meta game around who the killer is.

Honestly if the game map was to be gone forever I'd be happy. This map is just a joke at high mmr, like as if it wasnt hard enough on normal maps against good loopers and optimal people on gens... why we have to add 20odd safe pallets that have no mindgame as a basic attack killer...

Edit: just gonna go afk if I get this map multiple times a day or I'm not feeling it. I'll humour it once, but that's it. Absolute joke you expect me to do as well on this than other maps so I'm gonna save myself the impossible task, save the hassle and avoid the mass amount of toxicity for struggling on it.

Let's lose a killer and a map that thousands of people enjoy or have enjoyed because the OP got his butt kicked by a Pig. Let's do it.

There seems to be a trend where when killer are comparable, the female killer usually comes out as the better version

    Nurse better than Blight

    Spirit better than Wraith

    Hag better than Trapper

    Artist better than Pyramid Head

    Huntress better than Slinger/trickster

    Interesting stuff

I haven't noticed because I'm not looking to find something that isn't there. None of the killers are comparable and I do better with male killers. I'm decent with Spirit.

Ive been getting back into survivor and the amount of people who suicide on hook or insta DC is really stupid. Worst thing is that when you get one you are almost guaranteed to lose and then have your MMR lowered so you run into them more. 5 games in a row have had someone suicide on hook and usually after the first one does it and you are left at 3 people on 5 gens then the 2nd or 3rd person does it. Game after game ends up being just hatch standoff or you just trying to stay hidden longer than the other survivor or survivors so you have a shot at hatch. I dont see a single reason why the escape mechanic should exist.

Sounds similar to putting a HOT warning on a cup of coffee. Let's protect the stupid. Everyone should know that the base percentage change of escaping off the hook is extremely low. Almost negligible. Next time unhook your teammate faster or just accept the fact you're playing with a newbie.

    I think that'd be cool.

maybe a survey requirement, or a report on any findings.

Edit: I'm not saying this would be feasible, but wouldn't it be nice.

This is a rant because I'm massively disappointed in the developers of this game. I want to play and enjoy this game SO BAD because I used to love it to death when it came out in 2016, but my brain refuses to play it any longer because of how boring it is. While I mainly play killer, I used to play survivor until I started to find that boring as well.

NOTE: The art aspect of this game is fantastic, and is a non-issue. Neither is this a problem of balancing moreso as it is a lack of originality.

So, let me boil down why my brain (and a lot of other veterans) refuse to play this game: it's not enjoyable. Why isn't it enjoyable? The experience has become stale for me. Why has it become stale? Because the game is repetitive. Why is the game repetitive? because it feels like the same chore over and over again. Why is it a repetitive chore? Because the same situations repeat themselves. Why do the situations repeat themselves?... etc, etc.

This is due to a reoccurring design flaw within the game itself: the game is FACTUALLY POORLY DESIGNED. I have no clue why anyone other than a masochist would play this game after a few years. Now, that's a bold claim, sir! That's just an opinion, and you're bad.

    Well, actually, no.

For a run-down on Game Design, let's strictly refer to the Heuristics of Playfulness. These are used largely to define what exactly makes ANY game, video game or not, playful and Dead by Daylight somehow disastrously failed to satisfy them which has caused an infinite circulation of player count rather than a clear positive increase:

    • Choice: The right number of moves exist.
    • Variety: Situations don't repeat.
    • Consequence: Moves lead to new situations.
    • Predictability: New situations can't be anticipated.
    • Uncertainty: New situations aren't predetermined.
    • Satisfaction: Desired outcomes are obtainable.

The core mechanics of the game themselves in no way satisfy these Heuristics, so by definition Dead by Daylight is factually a bad game. If I can correctly and factually establish that, then by definition of logic I'm correct. Let's take a closer look:

Poorly designed survivor and killer movement:

The movement of both survivors and killers dissatisfies all but one of the heuristics, being consequence. While this is also due to mechanics touched on later, that doesn't mean it's not to blame for some of them.

Choices players have for movement are extremely simplistic when you don't tie them to other mechanics: Walk in multiple directions, sprint and crouch if you're a survivor, and slash if you're a killer. There's a lack of choice because players are unable to move in ways that are more desirable (which dissatisfies satisfaction) such as laying and taking cover on obstacles for survivors, or even jumping onto the environment for both teams. Imagine if you could jump onto the environment as both killer and survivor as well as have these other things. Wouldn't the infinite possibilities be worth it for just a little extra collision checks?

Movement in this game lacks variety, predictability, and uncertainty because situations always repeat, which stems from the lack of choice, they're always predictable, and predetermined by the environment. If movement was just a little more advanced, this wouldn't be the case: if you could lay or cover against objects instead of crouching and always failing to not be seen (because some body part always sticks out), every choice the player makes when it comes to movement wouldn't be repetitive, could lead to new situations, and wouldn't be predetermined from player models not being able to fit snugly against cover.

Next, let's talk about poorly designed killers. While there are a few fantastic killer designs game-wise, such as Spirit or Nurse, they're always held back by the restrictions of flawed core mechanics (which I will get into later). To be concise, I'll give examples of horrible design.

    Poorly designed Killer examples:

    • Trickster: Hold w, find a tall loop, run it, put down the loop and run to another. Repeat.

Trickster dissatisfies variety, predictability, and choice because the same situation when it comes to looping is constantly repeated and the resulting situations from survivors can be easily predicted due to the lack of choices survivors have for counter-play (Loop with high walls or risk a window, which one you wanna pick mate?). Even with perks that change how the chase is played, the outcome still usually fails to satisfy predictability.

    • Hillbilly: Hold w, find a loop, try your best to loop and outplay, then go and repeat it (if you can get to a loop before they insta-down you).

Reworked Hillbilly dissatisfies variety, choice, and consequence because the same situations repeat and, regardless of moves leading to new situations, Hillbilly will always eventually down the survivor due to their power. They then took it a step further when they added a cooldown because it limited choice for the killer as well as the survivor: It's basically like having a game of chess where the killer is unable to make a move if they move too much but the survivor is still severely limited due to the lack of consequence the killer really has.

    • The Artist (PTB): Try to loop before she uses her power. If not, hold w until you find a loop/window while trying to dodge the crows. Repeat.

The Artist dissatisfies consequence, predictability, and variety because her power doesn't lead to a new situation as much as it does an instant mini-game (chase) winner regardless of how long it takes the killer, the situations made from her power are always going to be the same (survivor runs to another loop until they get hit), and the situation of looping, running to another loop, and looping again is predictable and constantly repeated.

What about the well-designed killers that change the experience and keep things fresh? Well, they would if the entire game's now-flawed design didn't hold them back. Let's also touch on that:

    Disastrous Core Mechanics

    • Generators: A flawed, worthless core mechanic that doesn't satisfy any outcome and keeps unique design from ever flourishing in the game.

The choice a survivor has when interacting with them is HOLD M1, which was only temporarily patched with 'skill checks', and Killers have no choices when interacting other than to regress them and keep the survivors from interacting with a core mechanic of the survivor's game. Huh, I wonder why Killers view Survivors as toxic and Survivors view Killers as such...

Generators have no variety because the same situation of holding M1 and regressing repeats regardless of the predetermined spawn locations rolled, which also causes a lack of uncertainty and predictability due to outcomes of generator layouts almost always guaranteeing a win for one side.

They would have consequence for survivors working on them, being the main reason they exist, if the predetermined layouts were playful: There is no new situation caused by a survivor working on generators that the Killer cannot go to without massively hindering themselves. This also correlates to a lack of variety because the same layouts will always have the same flaws regardless of the killer in the game.

Generators are the single biggest flaw in the game to hold it back from success, hands down. This is because of the developers using them as a crutch of a mechanic to build others on top of: building mechanics on top of a completely flawed mechanic does not work. I get that creating a game is hard, but it isn't very hard to know that whoever the team is in charge of game design needs to be fired. This obviously makes it incapable of satisfaction because the desired outcome of having unique and fun killers that shake up the game is impossible while you build them on top of a flawed mechanic.

Imagine if every killer had a different objective to do instead of all of them being built on top of generators. This game would be thriving and bursting with creativity if they did. Maybe it worked for the first 3 killers, but it doesn't work for the rest.

    • Pallets: A mechanic and excuse for counter-play that is so undeniably stupid that it's plagued the game since launch. It fails to satisfy any playfulness heuristic except choice and uncertainty, and even then you could argue that it doesn't satisfy choice because there's only a handful of choices to make.

A pallet always means the EXACT same situation regardless of where it is: a survivor will either loop it or throw it down depending on map design and killer distance, killing any variety/predictability/consequence.

Pallets create the only fun aspect of the game, looping, and even then the entire mechanic of looping is a product of a core mechanic so bad that it hinders any killers and survivors from having interesting abilities. The lack of the 3/4 heuristics mentioned above is enough but pallets and, inherently, looping actively destroys any sense of satisfaction that could be created from a killer with an ability that actually shakes up the game's routine as well as any literal satisfaction for the killer: You can't have a killer like Nurse or a creative creation like old Freddy without everyone complaining or having an under powered mess because No other choice of counter-play is given, and without pallets the flawed nature of generators makes the game completely boring and useless.

Imagine if each killer had a different counter instead of pallets that a survivor can use to their advantage and if each killer had a unique way of countering that. What if we also had that on top of a differing objective? Wouldn't it be nice to have such variety in the game? Again, Pallets worked for the first 3 killers but due to a refusal to create different situations they've made the game stale for all the other ones.

    ~~

Overall, the success of this game isn't baffling: it's all the art team and the original designers of Dead by Daylight. BHVR is not what it used to be, and is now a sickening bi-product of the good company it once was. The only joy in this game comes from the parts that still remain inside of Dead by Daylight that have been covered and crushed by the tampering, meddling, and bloating of everything built off of them.

Objectively, Dead by Daylight is a bad game.

Thanks, I just wanted to get this off my chest. Cya later.

    Repeatedly. Heuristic.

Don't take this the wrong way but, it feels like you're projecting a bit

We have male killers with tragic or unpleasant stories that don't make them out to be completely psychotic - Wraith, Deathslinger, Hillbilly (To an extent), Oni (To an extent), Blight, Bubba (If you want to count him)

Plus you're doing a disservice to some of the great stories of those characters - namely Plague and Spirit. Spirit's a classic tale of the vengeful ghost and Plague is tragic but not because she's 'helpless' or 'tortured'.

Yeah she sacrifices herself for her people but she's doing it for what are, in her mind, the right reasons and that's what makes her service to the entity all the more tragic. I've always interpeted it as the Plague kills because she sees the Entity has her 'god' and pledged herself to it in order to save her people. Again, there's nothing really tortured or helpless about that.

Hell, she kills someone in her own tome lore before she was even taken

If people like the OP didn't project and make use of hyperbole then they wouldn't have anything to complain about.

Please remake Freddy. The old one was way more accurate and unique. Bring something similar to that back.

And bring back the old Quentin face. I feel he looked a bit more like the actor than he does now.

Give Freddy his stretchy arms as an ability.

The old Quentin face made him look like a homeless meth addict. I understand Quentin was addicted to Ritalin/Adderall in the movie but his original face made him look 65.
