What an unfair advantage to the killers. And also when I am in Solo Q and get three others in communications, they treat me like just meat for the hook. Its so obvious when survivors are in communications with each other. Turn off your headsets and play fair or be ashamed.

Headsets are better for killers. Microphones should be removed from the game.

Yeap, game has vulnerabilites announced in a textbox locked into every single page of this site and they're promoting people to play the game, now I find out, scared of having competition, ignoring their players might get DDoS and well, this post down below explains quite a bit how ######### up that is from bhvr.

I wish for VHS the best honestly.

I did too but DVD won that war.

    Do bones. Duh.

But for real, break a pallet and then leave em to pressure gens. Chances are not likely that all 4 will just pre drop every pallet. And if they do, ok they will be out of pallets 3 mins into the game and then it's free hits all day

Break every pallet and don't commit to a chase that lasts too long. Not every survivor is a master of running in circles.

I once had a game where survivors healed 1 or 2 times and it took 3 points from me. Those 3 points cost me a pip. That is ridiculous. You should only be penalized if you let them heal 5 times.

Agreed. Killers can't prevent healing most of the time and the points taken away have always seemed unfair to me.

So why are you commenting on something you don't even participate in?

What's so wrong for you about someone wanting to stream? No fun allowed police?

Because I can. Why are you so defensive? Are you the captain of the Streamer Protection Brigade?

  • I don't. Never said I did lol. Doesn't mean I can't say my piece on the issue of streamers and the horde of antisocial followers that defend them.

So it's been 8 days since i turned the game on. People pretend it isn't a problem but it's real. I wasn't a new killer i've played for years (red rank). I've gotten to the point where the unbalance & the toxic gameplay has just worn on me to the point where the fun is gone.

and i'm the type of killer the game needs...i would rather get destroyed than camp or tunnel it's not fun at all that way

And streamers are a big part of the "toxic" problem (they know who they are)

Streamers are a problem everywhere. Entitled with inflated egos. Why streaming is a thing I will never understand. Watching someone else play a game is weird to me.

I agree I'm irritated by the fact they Added SBMM in the first place without planning it out better but I don't even sweat SWFs anymore because if I don't want to face them I'll just pass on the lobby.

Also....it isn't anything different as the Survivor Main complaint threads about nerfing every killer and perk in the game tbh.

Nothing wrong with passing lobbies. If I even get a hint of a potential SWF, I will skip that lobby. Reason being is I am fairly certain what is coming. 4 DH, 4 DS, and 4 BT along with BNP and purple med kits with purple add-ons and probably a Badham, RPD, or Haddonfield offering. The gens will be done within 5 minutes and I'll have been lucky to get two hooks by that time.

Good lord, this crowd is tiring.

I can't even be bothered to make a long-winded bit about it-- zero enthusiasm.

Just nonstop woe-is-me, won't someone think of the killers, why are we still here, just to suffer levels of on and on and on pity partying. The way they talk about it, you'd think this is their 9-to-5 full time job than something that should be their enjoyment.

You're not a killer. You're a person at a computer. The moment you give "killer solidarity" and assure another poor up-and-coming killer main with your pained smile that this is just the way it is for your mutual oppressed underclass is when you have officially lost yourself in the sauce. You have stopped being a person at a computer, and you are now a part of the pity party aggregate.

Can you have your complaints about the power of Killers?

You sure can. In fact, normal people do it all the time. I do it. There's a real thing to complain about there, and people who don't treat this game like a bad match is all it's going to take to send you into a heart attack are fully respectable in doing so.

But not this crowd. No, it's personal. It's not like you can just-- drop the game since it's apparently unbearable agony to play killer, and you apparently know this fact every single time you decide load into a game.

Because you can't just drop the drug, right?

No, what you really need to do is keep playing this game you apparently don't enjoy anyway, get real bitter and angry at those dirty coddled survivors and engage in passive-aggressive warfare in between jabs at those damn survivors and damn biased BHVR. Because you have bad matches in an unbalanced multiplayer game, and you're somehow surprised every time.

    Jesus.

I was watching ohtofu last night and he brought up the current state of killers. Tdlr he essentially was saying that killers are being babies because mmr is doing it’s job. I mean sure we’re not 4king every game but a lot of us are still 4K at least 50+ percentages of our games. The mmr is working as intended and putting us against skilled survivors, the way it should be. Kinda was a wake up call to me personally and gave me more perspective on the games I lose. Instead of thinking the game is inbalanced (which I still think it is to a certain degree) I took tofus advice and now am thinking more or less what I did wrong during my matches instead of thinking this game is just 1 sided.

Just my last piece of advice I’d like to leave all my killers out there is unless your getting paid to play this game (content creators) why do you care if you lose? Sure it’s annoying to get teabagged / Bm’d but it’s not worth working up a stress over this game.

He's a streamer. That doesn't mean his word is gold. I don't think all the complaints of killers here are unwarranted. The game is still heavily survivor sided higher up in the ranks. When you're playing against a 4 person team and 3 of them have the same perks then it becomes a fruitless gesture to even try. You're going to be dealing with Dead Hard, Borrowed Time, and Decisive Strike all game from multiple survivors. That's just the perks. Can't forget about BNP and Ranger med kits with purple add-ons. Playing both sides will give you alot of insight on the true state of the game. The perk situation needs to be limited.

It kinda baffles me to see these sometimes but then I remember that I've played for 6 years and BP means almost nothing to me. But then it makes me think about NEW players.. and then I think about the absolutely insane paywall that exists, that as an old player I don't think about at all. 5-10 dollars every 3 months was never an issue when it's all split apart, but like.. as a new player joining the game, holy hell I can imagine that's a terrible feeling.

Makes me kinda wish we had occasional auric drops, or the.. other currency.. I can't think of what they're called but the things you can buy NON licensed dlc with. Why don't we ever get double events on those?

I started back in December of 2019. I bought all the DLC within two months. It was a daunting task at first but now that I own them all it is nice to be able to enjoy playing whoever I want.

It's an automatic disconnect. I'm not purposefully doing it, or I wouldn't be in here complaining.

People don't understand the ban system. They think "A LOT," when "A LOT" is 3-4 times consecutively.

I see. Then I would lower your MMR on purpose to get away from the hackers and the people making you DC.

Ahhhh, The way this game is meant to be played... Brutal, unforgiving, and honest!

If they're moaning over chat, just close or ignore it, because after all, you did your job, they did theirs, and who's to argue any different? I love the freedom from it all, this whole feeling of the gloves are off, and anyone who complains is the real loser. This truely is the time that separates the true sportsmen, from the crybabies, and I love every second of it, Which is saying something because as a killer main, I haven't enjoyed most of my day games in over 3 months now... But this time of the night I treasure.

As always, I wish you all to Have fun, Feel free to be merciless or brutal no matter the builds you use, Survivor or Killer, and I'll see you in the fog (After midnight)!

So if a killer keeps nodding at you while you are bleeding to death or on a hook while he already won or during a match isn't toxic too for that kind of logic... Cause it's actually harmless and it's a psychological warfare that too... Meh, I'm unconvinced tbh

Bad behavior on both sides is ridiculous. However, survivors tend to be childish more often, especially, if they ran through gens in 5 minutes.

  • @BaldursGate2 said:

Because if you pick a strong killer, the same people would complain about, how easy it is to win with that killer and how unfair it is.

You can't make it righ for everyone. The post game chat has to just be deleted, so you can't even get curious o what survivors or killers have to say after the game.

I agree. End game chat should be removed. Maybe even making it to where if the survivors stay at the gates for a certain amount of time then the gates become blocked for a short duration for those particular survivors. The above would put an end to alot of rude behavior in this game. The object of the game for survivors is to escape with their lives, not sit at the gates rubbing their taints on the ground being obnoxious and rude.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Disappointingly enough, there's this common mentality for survivor players, and some killer players, that if you played one of the weaker killers, you have no right to complain when you lose. "It's your fault for choosing them. Pick a stronger killer next time." It's not hard to understand how that's a really bad mentality to have about the state of the game. Like, I'm not supposed to be able to win with the specific killers that I enjoy playing with? Is that what they're getting at?

I realize it's impossible for every killer to be A tier in a permanent sense, because when everyone's A tier then there's still some that are weaker than others and that starts the tier list all over again. But we should never be okay with the idea that certain killers "should" be weak. If a killer can't compete like others can and has fallen behind, we buff them to give them that chance to compete. Same thing for addons and perks that never see any play because you have to run better ones to have a chance.

And again, this is shifting the blame over to the killer player, which is a common occurrence. They win, "something they brought is OP". They lose, "baby killer". They use strong perks, "using crutch perks". They complain about game balance, "they just want easy 4k's". I know there's a lot of killers out there who have vastly less skill and game knowledge than they claim they do, but we can't just assume it's that every time. Many killers do lose even when they play well and make no mistakes, simply because of their choice of killer.

This is why you see no variety in the killers at high level, because if it's not them being tired of getting tbagged when they lose with low tier killers, it's the fact that those select few killers actually have power over the survivors in some situations. Blight has unmatched speed, Nurse ignores obstacles, Leatherface can guarantee a kill off 1 down, Pyramid Head can play around hook perks. So how are you gonna say that it's the killer player's own fault for choosing a less strong killer, when they could easily use one of the stronger ones? What lesson does that teach them? This is why killers quit.

I use to hear that often when I was new and I still had my messages open to anyone. Always something like I should've played a better killer. My favorite killer is Legion. Always has been. Legion isn't that good. They're power is helpful but not enough to make a huge difference. I like the added time it takes survivors to heal and all the rest but it feels severely underpowered. I do feel that killer players shouldn't be made to play a certain killer to be competitive but I also understand not all killers can be the best tier. A moderate buff would be nice.

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2657014#Comment_2657014

That's why Nurse and Spirit and Blight are played alot. Because they can either end the chase with the person they chased off quickly, or go right back in a heartbeat.

Although I will admit, regression does need a slight buff like survivors working 50% slower until they work on the gen for 10 seconds maybe.

That would work. Or gens just regressing faster. I always hit gens to make them regress but I do it out of habit. I don't do it because gen regression is fast enough to make a difference. Whatever the regression percentage is needs to be doubled. If not doubled then raised a significant amount to where kicking gens is worth it.

  • @k0reant3a said:

I completely don’t mind solo q survivors or duos but when a 4 man swf are together the game becomes to hard to deal for a lot of killers is there anyway ye can look into this to help the killer out. I also play survivor so I’m not biased to one but I want to enjoy killer as much as I do survivor

I think the devs should limit how many of the same perks and items are allowed in a group. When every survivor has Dead Hard and Borrowed Time it becomes extremely aggravating. Throw in a couple of survivors with Decisive Strike and BNP and you might as well go make something to eat or go smoke.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

It's not unfair considering there might be a dozen people that are good with her. Her base speed is also slow as molasses so if the player can't blink correctly then survivors get easy win.

Just looking at the Shrine Archive on the wiki... oh my gosh. OG perks have appeared SO much more often than perks from basically any other character.

I guess it's not a surprise, however. You can't buy the original characters + David and Nea, so offering their perks on the shrine is no biggie. But offering perks from characters that you would otherwise have to pay for? Good one...

I see where you're going. I'm sure they offer the paid perks alot less often and it's probably not random. More to do with greed.

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

The problem is the lack of pressure some killers can apply due to them having no traversability, or having a weak chase power. It’s why Nurse, Blight and to an extent Spirit are meta killers.

Does pressure matter when 5 seconds after you chase a survivor off a gen there were one or two more hiding to go right back to that gen? Gens need to regress faster and there should be more one survivor only gens on maps.

  • @Ryan489x said:

Here is where I come up with that Idea.

I've heard from some survivor and killer players that I've played with that they get bored because you're essentially doing the same thing over and over again and the results are the same. However whenever something is changed or a new element is brought into the game no matter how small people freak out because they're not able to do the same things they've always done that make them get bored of the game.

Not all changes work out for the better, I'm not implying that at all but it sometimes feels to me that the devs are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

yes they've made some huge errors that shows just how weakly the game itself is held together code wise but that's not the point. here are some examples; some stronger then others.

    • updated survivor movement. yes some of it looked bad I'll admit that but again people complained had to switch it back.
    • people complained about too many infinite loops. they added breakable doors, people complained about that.
    • they've changed how keys work because killers complained about how they worked. Now some people have quit playing the game because they don't like how the keys and hatch work now. and others don't believe it when you tell them about the change.
    • they changed moris twice. first it was one hook now it's two yet people still complain about killers bringing them at least what I've seen anyway
    • The change to DS took forever to die down and we knew it was coming for months.
    • boon totems gave survivors and advantage and now they're adding a killer that can relight a hex totem or any broken one as part of their power, how much complaining is going to come from that????

some of the community complains about how the game is just the same thing over and over again but some of those same people as soon as anything is changed it's

    OH NO CHANGE IT BACK.

doing that insures that no real change will ever happen

thus this community is collectively insane. Sometimes

This is not a unique trait to DbD players. People, in general, complain alot. It's a human thing. Go to any video game forum and you'll see.

It's really childish. Childish to do it and childish to let it bother you. They're not even teabagging you technically. They're rubbing their taint on the ground. Who knows what disease and bacteria these survivors carry?

  • @Aurelle said:

So I'm starting a sort of mini series on my ideas on how to make weaker killers better. I'm starting with Trapper since he is one of the older killers. Here are my ideas to make him stronger:

    - REMOVE HIS ABILITY TO GET STUCK IN HIS OWN TRAPS: I don't understand why this is still present in the game. This can slow him down and completely undo all progress in a chase if he is carrying a downed survivor.

    - MAKE INJURED SURVIVORS GO INTO THE BROKEN OR DYING STATE WHEN FREED FROM A TRAP: This will make his traps more of a threat, which can provide much needed pressure.

    - INCREASE THE TIME IT TAKES TO FREE A SURVIVOR FROM A BEAR TRAP: A survivor freeing another survivor from a bear trap is a guaranteed escape, so increasing the time it takes to free a survivor from a bear trap will make it more risky to do.

    - DECREASE THE TIME IT TAKES TO SET A BEAR TRAP: Trapper lacks early game pressure because he needs to set up his traps. Decreasing the time it takes to set up a trap might help with that.

Feel free to post your thoughts/opinions/ideas below.

I always thought Trapper was strong. I rarely have bad games when I use him. I don't think he's weak and he has amazing snowball potential.

Well now that I got your attention with that clickbait title 😂, I gotta say with how rough my games have been lately I've found a new way to have fun you guys should try it

Alright so with the boon meta running rampant these days, I've been completely countering it these days with this one simple build

I play trapper with hex ruin, undying, haunted grounds, and Toth

Then I run both stone add ons the one that resets traps for you and the one that kills survivors when they escape

And all I do is trap every single totem I don't worry about gens and whether I win or lose I gotta say it's been fun as hell and way more effective then it should be

If you gotta run the same old ######### to counter the survivor's same old #########, is that really fun?

  • @RainehDaze said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2656830#Comment_2656830

No, Pinhead also suffers on larger maps. Survivors can see the box fine at a distance; on a big map it's way more likely to spawn way out of the reach you can patrol it. On a smaller map, they're forced to solve it somewhere you might (maybe) be able to reach.

The box is much closer to survivors on smaller maps. On bigger maps they may think it's too far or someone else will deal with it. On smaller maps it's right next to them.

  • @Kaitsja said:

Before the MMR system, roughly every second round I played against a tunneling killer and got tunneled out within the first 60 seconds purely because it's efficient. As killer, games weren't much better than they are now.

Clearly, MMR isn't the problem here. It's the overall game balance. Gens go too fast, maps are too big with too heavy an emphasis on Hold W, and tunneling/camping is too efficient.

I like games that are fun and fair, where everyone has the opportunity to play the game the way it's meant to be played. On average, rounds last 15 minutes for my SWF group so I'm happy if I die after 3 gens are done. What isn't fun is a tryharding killer running Ruin/Undying/Tinkerer/NOED because they want a 4k in 2 minutes.

On the flipside, sweaty survivors running a full meta build isn't fun either.

Gens go way too fast. That is the truth. However, smaller maps hurt some killers like Pinhead, Ghostface, and The Pig. I think fixing generator speed is the main issue along with limiting the amount of the same perks on survivors. For killers, perhaps making survivors just off the hook invincible to attacks for a few seconds will discourage "tunneling" attacks. The main issue is gen speed. They just go too fast and it's a big problem.

  • @Mwasi said:

First, I want to preference this by stating I am by no means a veteran player. I am not even a great killer. I am an OK-ish Killer, imagine the equivalent of really good Killers ordering their killer skills from a specialty vendor, and I am in a rush, do not want to pay that much, so I ordered mine from WISH. I am not exactly a candidate to become a Fog Whisperer, and I will most likely never reach the red rank.

But I am genuinely alright with being an OK-ish killer. Sometimes, my games go really good, and at other times, I get skunked. I am still learning and that is genuinely part of the fun. I have been playing roughly since late June, around the time the Resident Evil stuff launched, and very early on I decided if I view this game as Win or Lose, it is going to suck real hard and long.

    1) There is a noticeable population of Survivor players who will DC if they can't spend the entire match dunking on you and BMing all willy-nilly. They will consistently teabag, repeatedly locker stun, and flashlight you, but god forbid you down them once, and join in by nodding because now you are a "toxic killer".

    2) I don't need an encyclopedia like knowledge of survivor perks to get hooks or have fun. How much do I know about survivor perks? It can be summed up this way "Um, there is the back stabby that keeps me from picking them up. Heheh that perks makes them go forward fast and makes me miss. There is magic that lets them take one hit free. Some let them see auras. And now there is a perk that makes illegal, survivor, knock-off totems." That is it. I still enjoy running into a perk I know little about or never seen before.

    3) Sometimes, I go for a 4k. Sometimes, I aim to only hook everyone twice, then ease up, and let them escape even if they are downed again. Sometimes, I get very little choice, and the games are insane, fun, and frantic, and I get out played (but if the survivors are good, I still learn something).

    4) I cannot tell anyone else how to play to have fun. And I wouldn't. But for me? Concerning myself only with kills is boring. I like experimenting or setting goals for myself. Like, I keep trying to make a stealthy huntress build (pipedream and Insidious has had interesting results), or I will play rounds where I cannot hook anyone unless I down Survivors with hatches, or Trickster's knives, or if someone gives me a gift as a killer (leave an item) I will let them pass or run away-- unless they try to pick it up again.

    5) BMing is sort of a boon. I can't tell you how many Survivors I have killed because they kept slowing down, even for a second, to teabag or show off. Or all the kills I have gotten near a gate, that would not have happened, if they had just left. One of my new favorite games is bringing lightborn, but pretending I am avoiding the flashlights, then when everyone is confident in those beams of doom, that is when I reveal they don't work. Even Clickers are fascinating. I experimented in how to deal with them, and so far, what works for me is ignoring them completely. Treat them as if they don't exist in the game. Even run right pass them when you are in striking range. But remember, this is only temporary, and you are waiting until they are so certain you will ignore them for the remainder of the round, that when you suddenly switch focus to them, they are caught off guard.

    6) On occasions some games will just go in the Survivors favor. They are really good players. I may make mistakes that cost me the match. Maybe a combination of both. Either way, its cool. There are other rounds to jump into. Bugs, glitches, hacking, and other things already hampering the experience from time to time. Taking this game too serious kills the joy-- at least it does for me.

    7) Boon totems does give the Survivors a pretty big advantage-- but if they heal more, this also means I can hit them more-- so it sort of evens out in my point of view.

    8) In the end, I enjoy being a friendly killer for the most part. Its just a game. At the end game, if someone Kobe's then props. I frequently let them go. Occasionally, I run into rude or toxic survivors, and I shrug. I am not going to be an jerk to everyone because of those few. I still do not have a favorite killer. Experimenting with perks, trying to invent new mind games, and occasionally meeting really cool or funny players, that is where the most fun comes from. As long as we can all get some blood points or finish a daily objective, then it was a good match.

Again, I cannot tell you how to have fun. These are just little things that have helped me. I know my few months is not the same as years or thousands of hours experience, and I respect people who feel burned out, need changes, or want a break.

Forgot #9. Get used to seeing most survivors run the same perks. Borrowed Time. Dead Hard and Decisive Strike. There is no diversity in this game.

Screw this game. The developers care nothing except to catered to killer mains. Once a survivor gets a good thing going it has to be taken away because it's "too op". Our job is to escape. You took away another means of escape by making the hatch spawn when there is only one survivor left because killers are complaining too much.

Screw the wraith and his super speeds and his silent bell

Screw Freddy and his super extended lunge

Screw broken Ghost Face and his inability to be revealed

Screw Michael and his fast stalking at 60 meters

Screw Bubba and his stupid chainsaw with charges to allow him to jet across the map and chainsaw through objects

Screw the clown for having so many bottles of gas which is OP as f. You shouldn't be able to throw more than 3 bottles during a chase. It's bad enough that killers are fast as hell and you can't get to a pallet or a window in time

Screw the trickster and his OP blades. 6 blades to down a survivor?? It's super annoying. All he has to do is avoid a pallet and throw all 6 blades at you in a matter of seconds.

Oni can easily gather all the blood orbs (which stick around for minutes) and enter his rage then boom game over.

The hag's traps are broken. You don't even need to be near one for it to set off. You can just walk right by it. You should have to walk over it to set it off.

Cenobite is super OP. His chains are absolutely excessive and annoying. He shouldn't be able to chain you 3 or more times in a chase for him to catch up. He' already faster than a survivor. You can't solve his box when you have chains coming at you which is stupid

Screw anyone who uses the twins and camp hooks with them. Victor doesn't even need to be accurate to be able to attack you.

Screw all of you killer mains who camp hooks, tunnel, go back to hooks while chasing other survivors. Don't tell me it's good strategy because that is not strategy. Strategy is forcing survivors to three gen themselves. Camping and tunneling is a desperate way to win. Makes you look unskilled and pathetic

Screw all of you noob survivors who keep bringing killers to hooks and others working on gens or you just run around the map doing absolutely nothing.

Enough of these new chapters and updates. Fix your broken ass game, fix your broken ass servers. You have games that require more data feed to their servers and they get it right so why can't you? Until you make some actually good changes towards this game to make it more balanced and skill based, this ######### will forever be broken and killer sided.

I do believe you're the biggest whiner I've encountered here so far.

Sometimes during the game i do see most not all give hatch to at least one survivor at the end of the game, sometimes it happens if they see most of there team DC, or most times they just stop mid game and start Farming, <<< this esp has happend to me in alot of pig games, ghost face, trickster, Freddy, ect . So my question is what has to be the reason u mainly give that last survivor hatch? and not gone lie sometimes they give hatch to the wrong survivor, like someone who hides all game and never get caught - ive had that happen plenty of times as well

If you dont give hatch at all then this discussion is not for you lol .-. I know its alot of killers who would say "why would i give hatch to a survivor"

I'll give the hatch or gate if the survivor played well and didn't flashlight me at pallets or troll me. Also, if the survivor did well but had a bad team. I gave the hatch and gate today 5 or 6 times. I don't mind being outplayed. I do mind being blinded by a flashlight troll for no reason.

  • Maybe the reason for anti loop killers is because the game has devolved into a killer chasing a survivor around a shack a half dozen times. It's comical and the furthest thing from horror.

Many people here cannot accept that they're just not as good as they think they are. It shocks me how nobody ever loses to their own mistakes, but because the other side is just "op". Overpowered has no significance in the context of dbd anymore because everybody and their grandma will scream it whenever something doesn't go their way. And I'm talking to all of you. Not survivor mains. Not killer mains. EVERYONE.

Nobody holds themselves accountable for their actions. They point the finger and claim "Well I'm only doing this because this person does that". It means nothing. Being reactionary doesn't make you a victim of some plight. It makes you immature for not holding yourself accountable for your actions. I know it's a video game. But many people on here will talk down to you and try to straw man you for not holding their same cookie cutter opinions. "Oh you don't like this? Classic killer/survivor main."

And going back to the topic of balance. A majority don't want balance. They want easy wins. Killers want free 4ks and survivors want to escape every match. If you have to bring 4 slowdowns to keep up with survivors, you're not good. If you have to bring BNPs or map offerings to win as survivor, you're not good. And that's such a hard pill to swallow for so many people. So many can't stand the thought that they aren't god tier gamers.

I can't tell if it's an ego problem or what. But getting butthurt over dbd is liking crying over something a pre-schooler told you. Dbd is a mess. You can lose the game from bad luck alone. Depending on tile spawns or some bug that hasn't been patched out yet, those can cost you the whole match. If you're annoyed at the game then don't go out of your way to make the next match as hard as you can for the other side and grief. Take a break and come back when you've calmed down. Also learn to accept losses, because there is no winning in dbd.

I know I'm not that good. I also want balance. Problem is people like us are rare.

For a serious response to this post by the way:

I think it is pretty clear that survivors are coddled quite a bit, and killers tend to get the short end of the stick in terms of balance. I can't think of a time in this game's existence where this hasn't been true honestly.

I don't think this favoritism is done out of malice for killers or ignorance to their treatment of them though.

I tend to believe that the developers think of their game as a party game primarily more than a serious competitive one. They want to ensure the largest side has the largest opportunity to goof around and have fun, and give them ample room to do so. They're probably well aware that killer can feel miserable a lot of the time, but because it's such a relatively small role they don't like catering to it as much.

I found this theory supported in their last live stream Q&A when their Lead Game Designer, Patrick, emphasized that he knows people like to goof around and have fun in games and implicitly supported it through his behaviour. Then again when he shook his head furiously about the idea of increasing generator times, and said nothing else about the pace of the game.

Pair that with how long stretch res has pervaded the competitive scene and been in the game, and that's another bout of evidence that they don't want to pursue a real balanced or competitive aspect to this game.

All I think they care about is enabling survivors to play as half-heartedly as they are now, and coddling that play-style by balancing around it to ensure that no matter how badly they play, they'll still be rewarded half the time. This is especially true with MMR as it is currently implemented.

As long as they can ensure that kill rates are relatively stable while allowing the survivors to goof off and have tons of fun, I think they're content with whatever balance scheme they end up with using the noncompetitive statistics they have.

I can't blame them for it either, because I do have a feeling that if this game were balanced and treated more competitively that a lot more people would leave and it would be less forgiving to newcomers.

They could maybe balance around MMR to separate the competitive players from the casual ones, but I wouldn't be surprised if they just think the expenses don't justify it.

    ---

In short, that does highlight some of the frustrations that come with playing killer and the inequality of their treatment. Sadly, I think they know already and actively don't want to act on anything.

And a side note, this is why I like joking around a lot on these forums.

Killer isn't a "small" role. It's as important as survivor. No killer players means no game.

I just don't understand how the game is stressful as killer? I'm always Rank 1 before and now I'm always Iri 1 now. I play all killers randomly and I don't have a "Main" but I use to love Billy before the changes but now I LOVE Blight. My baby bouncy boy. I don't sweat during matches even when I'm recording. I just chill during and I usually always 4k and double pip without tunneling or camping until I'm down to 2 gens. I just don't see the big issue most of the time. I rarely feel like I'm losing horribly. I can say the opposite when I play survivor. I get very tilted lmao.

The game is only stressful to people who can't handle stress to begin with. I've been through hell in life. A game is nothing to me. Btw, it's awesome you play all killers randomly. I do too. It keeps things a bit fresher.

I'm not even talking about survivor/killer 'favor' here.

I dread seeing this map more than even Haddonfield or Badham these days.

Even now that I mostly know my way around (although I certainly still get turned around sometimes) it can be very difficult to pressure gens due to how much ground I need to cover between them and how counterintuitive the routes are, especially against savvy survivors that know how to avoid a 3-gen situation. It often feels like a coinflip - if I go to the wrong gen, there is no way to reach the 'right' one in time.

I often have to resort to 'staking out' a portion of the map and just surrendering gens - which is frustrating to deal with for both sides and often results in everyone getting less BP.

On the other hand, it's not uncommon to see survivors die on hooks because their comrades simply cannot figure out how to get to them. Which is annoying for me too, as I'll win not by skill, but by simple bad luck.

It takes a lot to make me miss Haddonfield, but RPD manages it somehow.

It is the worst map in the game. Badham and Haddonfield tie for second.

You're not wrong, but I think that's adjacent to this topic at best. Killer still sets the tactics. Survivors don't have much say in who gets chased, who's in the best position to get an unhook, whether or not anyone gets tunneled, whether the killer's slugging, whether the killer respects pallets, whether the killer knows how to protect from a flashlight save, whether or not there's any point in healing someone or doing bones - all things that challenges focus on.

And if worst comes to worst, or it's an especially badly designed challenge, killers have a much easier time throwing the game to get a challenge done than survivors do. If you think survivor challenges are easier than killer challenges, you're playing with SWF as a baseline and at very high MMR. I cannot think of another explanation, because trying to get challenges done in solo is like pulling teeth.

None of the three killers you brought up had especially difficult challenges anyway. Nurse's challenges in particular were all extremely basic and the other two were 'use your power a bunch of times' kind of challenges. They're more hindered by the map than anything else and they still have the ability to backrev (or whatever you'd call Blight bouncing into a parallel wall and immediately getting a hit.) There's some BS killer challenges out there, but those three aren't among them.

    They are difficult to me.

Literally, there is always a thread asking for this or that to be nerfed. When something gets nerfed, people start going down the list on what they want getting nerfed next....

If anything, there are a lot of perks that need a buff so they aren't dogshit and people can have more variety in their builds.

Same goes for killers, imo, no killer needs a nerf right now, but there are a lot of low tier killers that surely could get a little buff or at least some quality of life updates.

Can we stop asking for everything to get nerfed? One day everything will be dogshit and nothing will actually be worth playing as/using.

I've never believed in nerfs in ANY game. Once the nerf crap starts it never stops. Give an inch and they take a mile.
