I used to do this, but survivors started just predropping the pallet to cover the trap.
I haven't ran into much predropping of pallets. I usually try to avoid those types of groups.

I assume gen traps will be disarmed and that's kind of the point, survivors love disarming them so much it lets me know they're at a specific gen. Sometimes traps are useful just for the info.
Trapping inside a pallet is terrible and you should never do it. Either trap on the side of the pallet (so they can't drop it without stepping in it) or trap it around the corner of the loop and run them into it after the pallet is dropped. Or my favorite, drop them in the other side of an already dropped strong pallet and laugh when they slide into it confident they're safe.
How is it terrible when it works for me all the time?

I don't even really know if Tar Bottle is his best addon anymore, I feel like he's got a few decent ones. There's the auto-reset addons, the slowing down disarming addons, the iridescent that injures on disarm, the few to make getting someone in a trap even more deadly like Honing Stone or Wax Brick...
Tar Bottle is increasingly less and less useful as maps get brighter and grass is removed. In my experience, you're probably going to want to be hiding traps around sharp corners and on the sides of loops with pallets instead, and accept that you do not have a map-wide presence, you're setting traps and sticking by them.
I would like to see this addressed, though. I mentioned it in another post I made but I kinda want to see the Tar Bottle reworked to apply map-appropriate camo instead of just darkening the traps. Sandy for Coldwind and Eyrie of Crows, iced-over for Ormond, etc etc.
I like to hide traps in-between pallets. The survivors disarm them too much when they are placed next to generators.

Yeah because majority of the players in the game doesn't know how the game works lmao.
The speed is significant, Time is arguably the problem. Two minutes is a short but that just has something to do with the perk being situational. You want the killer on you when the last generator pop to get full value out of it. If you can't get that situational people ask for longer time on hope so they can get said situation.
Yes and I'm sure you know how the game works. It's very situational and not enough of a boost to take up a slot. Let's agree to disagree.

Weird, I know - and some stuff might need a mild nerf (although...honestly probably not much) but this would offset a lot of the issues killer players are facing right now and would open up an enormous number of fun, potential builds.
Would be nice and might offset some survivor advantage.

7% haste is A LOT of movement speed. You people don't realize this probably has no idea how to manage distance and just dropping pallets left and right.
Well, no. I don't drop pallets left and right. It's just not a significant enough increase to bother running it. You may thing it's alot but you're in the minority.
-
@AetherBytes said:
Back when the game first launched, hope was a decent perk. If you reached the endgame, you got faster for 2 minutes, and it was enough to make it to places that would have been just out of reach before.
With all the new powers and perks however, it's kind of a forgotten perk. It's not as useful anymore with the power creep. So here's a good question for all of you, if they updated hope to todays standards, what would you hope it would be?
7% haste is a joke. It's not even worth running and that's tier 3 Hope.

I want killers to not trap me in corners. I want killers to not take me to the hatch, drop me in front of it, then close it in my face and shake their head, "No."
From survivors no teabagging and flashlight clicking. Also no, "Hey, c'mere, look over there!" *drops pallet*
That's messed up. I'm all for winning as killer but that ######### is wrong. People like that deserve a punch to the jaw.

Indeed.

The new rule about the hatch only spawning with one survivor left is so stupid. It makes bringing a key basically useless if you play in teams. Also, adding a time to open the hatch is such a bad idea. It’s way more fun to be able to just flip open the hatch and escape — especially with your team. It’s hard enough to get hatch to spawn and now it totally favors the killer on an unfair and not fun level. I hated the new hatch spawning rule as it was, but this is just ridiculous!
Do bones.

i quit completely about 6/7 months ago for several reasons. i had been playing since 2016 and completely burned out since then. i also just got sick of the toxicity. i was a killer main (i play on xbox btw) i had notifications for messages turned off because i would get spammed by salt often. sometimes i would check my inbox after a week and it would be completely full of toxic messages, people telling me to off myself or calling me trash or saying they would report me. (one time i had a guy demand i apologise for killing him.) yeah you get the picture.
i'm curious what it's like now? i hang around in off topic occasionally but every time i check general i usually see threads complaining about perks or just people arguing. i'm guessing the game is in a pretty bad spot right now? the game felt more reliant on perks instead of skill last time i played, is it still like that?
(more curious, is doctor good or bad? i used to main him when i played)
Pretty much the same as when you left. I turned my messages off a long time ago.

Wow, that's an absolutely terrible take. How is your average killer player supposed to know how to get up there? I first encountered this from one of my teammates and the poor Nemesis wasted 3 gens trying to get Bill off of the wagon - and that was a ranged killer who could technically get the shot at a very precise angle. Awful decision on BHVR's part. They need to patch this, not sweep it under the rug with a 'well, it's technically possible for the killer to deal with this.'
Sounds like the devs just don't give a #########.

And this is also why I'm glad the devs said in their q&a they are working on ways to punish camping (not parroting hooks) and tunneling. And changing moris again because they don't like how unfair and toxic killers have been playing with this.
Then I hope the devs enjoy it when the game is dead because no one wants to que as a killer anymore. I certainly won't put up with their bullcrap pro-survivor bias forever and that's coming from someone that plays both sides. What's even worse is they don't even try to hide their biasness.

When was the last time you played against a Deathslinger? That's right, pre-nerf! Now that Behaviour made him clunky, weaker and unfun to play, I suggest buffing him by giving him a real gun instead of the current cringe launcher. Huntress can injure survivors and down them from afar, so why does Deathslinger have to deal with this annoying chain that breaks after 2 seconds and survivors jumping in front of him to tank hits? Just give him a gun! He could start with something smaller, like a .22 idk, some addons could give him better guns (they're all useless anyways, "reduces terror radius while aiming lmaooo")
Don't know of any old fashioned bounty hunter/outlaw that used a .22 caliber rifle to kill anyone. Those things can barely kill opossums.

Back when billy was seen 1/5 games minimum you got the occasional post of him needing a nerf (this one wasn't as bad but you literally see none now).
When spirit was popular, (whether or not she deserved it).
And heck, even post nerf self care was called strong at a time.
My point with all this? Maybe to let some of the people who have this kind of usage=strength mentality aren't always right. While a good bit of the time what's popular is what's strong I think everyone could benefit from looking at things a little more closely over just seeing and then immediately saying.

Freddy is a fairly good killer. He's randomly considered bad now because a single popular streamer said he was. It's kind of annoying.
Blight is easy to learn, hard to master. It's hard to get to the point you know all the tech and all the geometry of every map which is what you'll need to beat actual real good survivors. But at his very worst where you don't even attack with rush or anything, he's still a 115 M1 killer with insane mobility which is genuinely better than being, like, Clown.
True. I roll a die. Whatever number comes up is the killer I play. So while I hate playing as Nurse, if her number comes up I will play her. Don't like to break rules I set for myself. It would be alot easier if Nurse's base speed was higher. I do okay with Blight. I finally finished all his challenges after trying off and on for two years.

Here's a hint. It sucks and those killers suck and feel God aweful to play now
I have to apologize to you. I thought you were talking about killer players, not the killers themselves. I misunderstood you. On that subject, I understand some killers are better than others. I don't think they really want SWF removed. At least, not most of them. They just want the killer role to be buffed up so the huge advantages SWF groups have are negated somewhat. I see nothing wrong with buffing killer to have a fair chance to compete with SWF groups. One side shouldn't have that kind of advantage over the other.

Could've easily gotten out by just opening the gate and leaving too instead of looking for it way too late. It's that insatiable need to have all 4 escape every time that leads to this stuff.

...again, survivor queues getting longer is the opposite of what you are expecting here. If survivors were quitting in anger over NOED, survivor queue would shorten as the survivor pool would get smaller and therefore less competition for you to get into games.
As for CoH, I do think it's OP (since unlike hexes, killers can't break boons for the rest of the game) but like everything else in this game on both sides, you adapt to them. In this case, it wouldn't shock me if some of that adaption by killers is more NOED (see what I said in my first post about it as I don't feel like retyping it out again).
You might as well talk to a wall.

Just had a game where a 4 escape turned into a 3k because we missed one totem how is this not a crutch perk for easy kills. Killers have had this broken perk for far to long and are outraged and entitled when survivors get good perks. Devs we demand a nerf or survivor queues are going to keep getting longer. Losing a game last minute because of a cheap perk isn’t fun
Survivor ques are longer because of a lack of killers. There are PLENTY of survivor players. I can't help but wonder if this post was made by a troll to bait. If OP is serious then OP needs to realize you don't get to demand anything. Maybe you should've demanded your team to find the 5th totem or you should've demanded you and your team to not be overly altruistic and end up with 3 deaths. Leaving the game and not sitting at the exit taunting would prevent deaths as well.

2 person I don't mind because that's manageable, but 3 and 4 is just total hell and those will always be skipped. Let them wait in the void for all time. But I did find a few 4 mans and 3 mans that were fun and actually kind in the end game chat.
I've had too many bad experiences with even a two man SWF. I've had them only unhook or heal their friends and leave the rest of us to fend for ourselves. Doesn't mean they all do that but it's happened to me too many times.

Killers already do that. I know I do. When I see 3 or 4 people load in at the same time I know it's a SWF and I leave the lobby because I don't feel like facing them.
I do the same. You know what's coming, most likely. SWF may never be fixed but I sure as hell don't have to play against them. Same when I'm playing survivor. I won't stay in a lobby with a suspected 2 or 3 person SWF. They tend to only care about their friends.

But you imply I cant read and say my post is pointless ? Ever look up what hypocracy means ? 🤣
My point is there's nothing wrong with SWFs. So why would they do anything about them....? Stop pretending SWFs are a problem.
Just because you say there are no problems with SWF doesn't mean that's the truth. The many topics here from a multitude of other players says otherwise. It is only fair to look at both sides of an argument. I'm not calling anyone names nor am I being aggressive. People have a habit of posting before they read what they are posting to. Like you and your reply. I made this post in hopes to convince people that SWF issues will never be rectified and had posted a screenshot until it was removed. You then told me I was "hating" and some other nonsense. That goes to prove you didn't read my post and tried to accuse me of something I was never doing to begin with. So, in conclusion, please learn to read a post before commenting.

Who sat up in a tower in the middle of the map relaying survivor movements and activities to the killer the whole game. Everyone would think that was OP.

The development team doesn't control the actions of the players. Teaming up with the killer is bannable. If you want a sure-fire way to avoid this, grab a few friends and play as a group.
They do control the low quality reporting system and giving players too many chances to keep doing bad.

Thing is - it wouldn't be that hard to apply a temporary MMR inflation to SWF teams, to ensure they went up against stronger killers. Say, 1.1x for a 2man, 1.3x for a 3man and 1.6x for a full squad.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2659990#Comment_2659990
Don't be a jerk.
It is very frustrating to go up against a full SWF with stacked perks, addons and a map offering.
I think it's obvious at this point where the development team and their loyalty is at. I just wanted to say my piece on the complaining and how useless it is overall. Something will be done to buff killers or the ques will keep getting longer for survivor players.

It may have initially been designed that killers would only play solo survivors, but somewhere in the development cycle they wanted to implement SWF features, but they couldn't get it out in time for release. This was mentioned in one of their earlier dev streams. Some people don't believe it, but it doesn't matter.
Regardless, SWF has been in the game for 5 years and BHVR has balanced this game to a degree with SWF in mind. It's not going anywhere.
Agreed with most of what you said besides the balanced part. Nothing is balanced.

Hii everyone, I'm new to this whole forum thing so please treat me nicely! :D
I came here today to tell all of you killer mains out there that I appreciate you very much.
I usually main survivor only because it's always stressful to play killer even though I really really want to so I congratulate any of you that continue to still do so.
Today, I felt like playing pinhead for some reason so I did. I didn't run any meta perks because I'm here to have fun, not sweat. You can tell how that game probably went, but if not, gens basically popped everywhere even with pressure applied. Anyways, I'm not here to complain about that because frankly I expected it and don't really mind. What I want to point out is the toxicity I'm observing as killer from survivors.
I got absolutely DEMOLISHED by the survivors in the endgame chat and it was because I got ONE kill on their friend and I don't see why it's that serious when I did not tunnel/ proxy camp until endgame seeing as there was nothing else for me to do at that point when they were all hovering around. It's cool though, just get into another match and continue on.
Now survivors, I know there are killers that may do the same thing, it's not just one sided. From now on, I think everyone should play their part and have a positive mindset! It's not just what the Devs do, but the community plays a huge part in the health of this game too. :D
Oh yeah, I hope everyone is having a very amazing and wonderful day today! <3
Great post. I'm actually frustrated playing survivor today. I play them both half and half. I agree with you. Playing both sides is the best way to play. Being biased towards any one side is no good.

I don't think SWF are the sole problem they just display these flaws glaringly and The game is unbalanced at its core.
Banning them is nonsense. The original OP was out of line. You hit the nail on the head though. There is no time to deal with them because the game is usually over very quickly.

@dugman said:
Just to clarify, the devs have always said they don’t have an issue with swfs using comms, they fully expected it from the beginning and do it themselves. The reason they didn’t build an ingame voice chat has more to do with good third party comms already doing the job for people interested in that and them not wanting people who don’t like comms to feel like they’re mandatory.
That being said, there’s also inherent imbalances between swfs on comms and solo survivors which they also know about. Whether they’ll over time tweak certain things to buff solo survivors or nerf survivors on comms a big is more of a question. For instance, a while back they nerfed Object of Obsession in part, if I remember right, because it was particularly overpowered in swf groups. So they might look at certain things in the margins related to swf, but probably aren’t looking to do a sweeping change.
If they buff solo survivor that isn't going to fix anything on the killer's side. That will just exacerbate the problem. Killer players will still be at a disadvantage, just a bigger disadvantage than before. Best thing to do for killer players that have an issue with this whole matter is to avoid playing against SWF teams. If killers refuse to play against them then they won't ever get a game to play. From an unbiased perspective, this is all I can think of that would resemble a fix.
