it's literally holding the game hostage, same case as it was with the old SM.
It is, but its a design flaw.
I dont get why killers get babysitted in the endgame with survivor perks being deactivated, but unwinnable condition like the 2 person hiding or slug thing is bad.
Also for some here, most of the time its the slug and find the last survivor thing. Hook and its fair game.
Still i think it should have a comeback mechanic for the survivors aswell, free wins are boring.
I dont see why killers should get aura reading, survivors should get something encouraged trying to escape.
-
Actually, killers created that. Asking for buffs over and over. And since they got buffed, they still camp, tunnel and play scummy.
Most killer players are way above their MMR they should be.
Just play some games normally, no tunnel, no camping. Then you get easier matches and can play normally. Then your MMR has settled. Not that hard.
Dont play the survivors, that they dont want to be tunneled in the first 2 minutes.

Consider this though, its not comparable the way you are using the point either.
Survivor is an elimination game, killer is not.
In an elimination game you will sometimes get eliminated early, its part of the game. You didn't get prevented from playing the game rather you failed to play well enough to be able to continue and were eliminated.
You have all the tools you need to avoid being eliminated early.
The threat of elimination is what makes DBD exciting to play and the day you can just respawn as survivor to stay in game is the day DBD becomes a bland farm fest and nothing more.
You should go into a game of DBD with the mindset that you may get targeted and eliminated early, then do what you can to avoid that... that's DBD, that's what you are signing up for when you hit the queue button and its great because of it.
Its more off an design flaw.
Tunneling isnt that much wanted from the dev's, otherwise they wouldnt give you tools for it.
Its not a skill issue for survivors, since ressources are sparce and they killer is made to win.
So its just bad game design, they tried to fix it with band aids who dont really work.

Yes and no, i hate to be the one getting tunneled, but with the gen speeds, killers often feel forced to play like that (unless playing a fast moving killer). Im a former killer main so i have seen both sides, and i stopped playing killer because it because too stressing, always in a rush gameplay, with locked perk setups just to counter gen-rushing.
The bliss i feel after going to survivor, i have the freedom to play around with my perks as i like. And im not in a bigger rush than i choose to be.
Actually, its more off a devils spin.
Killer tunnel and camp -> They get high MMR as if they wouldnt tunnel -> They need to tunnel and camp even more, otherwise they lose.
So actually, its mostly a skill issue. Gen Rushing is a side effect off that, since survivors are most likely to die fast, so the game needs to be done fast.
-
@Tsulan said:
Both sides tunnel. Or would you ignore a gen thats at 90% and regressing to go for a fresh gen?
Still not a good comparing these two.
Or is the killer out if 1 gen is completed?
The thing is, tunneling prevents players from playing the game. That is the thing, why tunneling is so bad in the first place.
A killer can turn the game the whole game. A dead survivor is dead.
-
Random screenshots dont proof anything.
Also we dont know how you play, what your MMR is and why you even try to proof such stuff.
We got it, you are a killer main who likes to complain about survivors.
-
The thing is, when they want to do it realisticly:
You dont scream directly if you get strong pain. Also a scream requires air, so the old screaming was actually accurate.
-
Something something killer strategy.
Something something survivors fault.
Something Something its not their fault.
-
Hot takes? I got some.
I think being out of the game fast (tunneled and camped) is way worse, than being bullied against an SWF. Atleast you can do something and play the game. If you are instantly dead, you cant.
I think the victim mentallity of killers is too much. Survivors have it worse. (Especially.... its the power role)
They really should shook the meta more often and change perks more often. Metas are boring.
To that, i think BHVR does not much in look of balancing.
BHVR is bad at communicating and is focused on money.
3 gens and hooks broken should be removed. Both are old mechanics.
The flashlight clicking wasn't as toxic, as people made it. Sometimes you want the killers attention or try to mess him up, it worked a lot.
Its unfair that killers get an advantaged when only 2 survivors are left, there should be basekit unbreakable.
The timer to open the hatch with a key, should be removed again. Its already lucky to find a key in the first place, so it should be possible to open it, in chase.
Since many things for survivors deactivate in endgame, so should killer powers.
NOED is still not a good perk and rewards with nothing to do.
Solo Q is ignored so many times and still is ignored.
The faster bloodweb was nice, but actually i think it was lame and they shouldnt keep the old system. (Also why should i skill up first my character to activate it? Let me level up new characters fast)
Soo that is a bunch
-
@Nomade said:
Gen rush is totally unacceptable. It is probably the biggest contributing factor to why you see killers doing a bunch of unfun things and in general being really sweaty. Gen run totally destroys the ability for the killer to relax and just have fun, go for hooks do chases ect.
Actually no. When regress meta was, killers still played scummy.
Gen rush exists, cause killer play that way in the first place. Tunneling and camping ruins the survivors ability to relax and just have fun.
-
I think its on both sides.
Just because slugging is an easy tactic, doesnt mean it should be there. If you are alone, you should have some options:
- Die fast, if you are lying on the ground
- If its the last 2 survivors, the slugged one should get the option to stand up (not unfair, its actually unfair that 2 survivors cant do much in this situation)
- If we let hooks respawn, they should add 1 extra gen, so 3 gen isn't possible anymore

Blocking windows in garden of joy for example is not op at all?
Yes. 1 Map.
While killers get use of their power on every map?
I wish there was no abilities at all, for no one. The event would be 100% better.

No way do you think being able to spawn a dream pallet that can actually stun/blocking a window from a killer is weak.
You mean the pallet, that immadietly breaks and the killer can get a 100% counter with endurance from the envelope?
Not to mention, that you first need to spawn it and stand correctly. And it only works in chase.
-
@CrowVortex said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3463321#Comment_3463321
I've seen survivors use power struggle build around the event pallets. and you can respawn them instantly with a friend.
Yes, in niche situations. But Solo Q not so much.
-
Honestly, its a good mechanic.
I want to dodge games, where i would suffer anyway. Killer can dodge a lobby too.
Also if someone doesnt want to play, they just either run to the killer or do nothing all game. Which isnt better at all.
-
Its not abusing.
But the event abilities from killers are way to OP and from survivors way too weak.
-
@Crowman said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3461181#Comment_3461181
Because when it wasn't tied to escape, the event was filled with survivors who rush the event objective and kill themselves on hook.
You get everything eventually anyway. The event should be casual and fun and not be forced to do something.
@topic
Dont think it was a good idea to have the interactions. Frustrating more than anything
-
Oh i forgot the mention, instead of making the masks casual, devs even try to push people in to playing hardcore.
You only get masks if you escape AND Killer only get masks in the endgame.
-
Its funny, if its a hook situation, its never the killers fault. If its a 3 gen, its automaticly survivors fault.
Some killers play the game just to have a 3 gen, to have an easier time. Hook plays were something you can work and get.
And no, i'm not making that up. I'm pretty sure they either added some extra hook or made the placement a little bit more dense, to avoid unhookable spots.
Dont get me wrong, unhookable spots aren't cool either. But 3 gens shouldnt be a thing. There should be more gens.
Oh look. Someone who doesnt read or only read what he wants... i wrote add 2 gens.
-
@BendIt said:
Anyone else thinking gosh BHVR what the heck?
Well you can say that Killer got Basekit Perks from the start... they see Gens, Hooks etc with aurareading.
They got pretty much buffed in every killer action recently, which you can say they got strength from perks who are part now basekit.
-
I dont say gg, as a survivor. Cause in most cases i'm already gone.
If i'm last or get given hatch, i say gg. Except if the killer just stomped and the game was overall unfun. Then i wont say gg.
I also think from either side, if you stomp the side, dont say gg. Its just a toxic touch. And it feels horrible for the others. Except you say something like "gg, i'm sorry for the bad game for you", then i dont mind, since its aknowledged.

i dont think it matters too much but its just so unnecessary
What does it change, if the sound level is the same?
It is not unnecessary, you should get atleast some counter for being grabbed for example. (Which is already kinda hard, since Gens are loud)

We even have some people that just want to buff solo q, and do absolute zero to help killers. Or they'll suggest minor buffs for the lower tier killers, and say the top tier killers can just suffer.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3230237#Comment_3230237
SWF can get a group MMR score that's higher than it currently is (even if it causes them to need a higher MMR soft cap). The problem with SWF is they can get a higher escape rate due to being in a SWF, and MMR doesn't account for this currently.
And here in that thread we have the oppositve, someone wanting to buff killers but dont want buff for soloq... So your point is...? And also as mentioned, killers got buffs recently. Quite huge ones.
Solo Q didnt got buffs like ever.
-
@almofan1001 said:
You have addressed SWF and/or buffed killer so that it can pressure survivors on most of the maps.
Buffing SoloQ efficiency to near SWF level without giving universal killer buffs is how you make this killer player count gone by 50 %.
And no - don't say that "killer buffs will come next". Knowing BHVR, that could take anything from 6 months to 5 years.
So no, either release killer buffs on the same patch or don't buff SoloQ at all.
Killers got their buffs, Solo Q didnt receaved one in a looooooong time. SWF's doesnt happen that often. Solo Q is a major part of the player base.
-
Cause you can hear every stealth killer. For example, you hear Myers breath. Or Wraith breath... something.
You shouldnt be completly silent. Also, if you approach fast, it doesnt change anything.
-
@TotemSeeker91 said:
Do you have a choice to steal or not? Cause like... I don't wanna down, but I also want my 8 hooks, lol
You dont. You need to down as a killer.
-
Also its again like that, you only get the cosmetic if the exit gate is open or you escape...
Killers just need to play.
Dev's dont want fun events.

The PTB gives a very good overlay of what will be in the mid chapter patch (or any patch) and we made it pretty clear that this was a slightly different PTB in that the content wouldn't be going live immediately afterwards as we needed to get early feedback on it before anything was final.
Unfortunately, yes this does mean that there's very little in the way of balance changes in this update but there's a large amount of bug fixes, Event content etc so there's actually a lot in the patch.
And we made it clear that its disappointing.
And it still is disappointing.
Cant wait to get tunneled, camped in that solo q state in the event! <3
Dont forget to mention that they pushed a patch trough which should give prestige levels, normal levels etc back who lost them. But actually it doesnt work.

I think most people suggesting Kindred as a Soloq buff really mean it as a Soloq buff only. If you queue by yourself, you get Kindred. If you don't you don't.
This would actually be nice. Same for other information who SWF's already have.
@StarLost said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3215683#Comment_3215683
And yet - plenty of HCS groups and high MMR SWFs run Kindred.
Why?
Because, especially on indoors maps, the ability to see the killer's aura is insanely powerful.
When i see good SWFs or high MMR Teams, i actually dont see it much.
-
@Katzengott said:
Stop with the basekit nonsense and just bring Kindred!
Every buff for Solos is another free buff for SWFs.
4 stack SWF already knows who is gonna safe and where the killer is. So, no, it doesnt buff SWF's. Cause they already have that.
Stop acting like SWF's are so hardcore that the whole Solo Q needs to suffer. They already said that sweaty 4 man SWF's in high MMR are just a low percentage.
-
@TheWheelOfCheese said:
If basekit infinite UB is going to be a thing, it can't be added without also nerfing/reworking Boil Over and hook sabo.
The simpler fix is to allow it to be used only under certain conditions -- once per match, or only when everyone is downed/hooked, or something like that.
Yeah and i think killers can also just slug once per match or when certain conditions are met, like exit gates are open. /s

Why not? 2 Metaperks Basekit for survivors, 0 for killers. Balanced, right?
Next will be 3sec DS Basekit, regular DS will grant extra seconds for the stun.
I totally believe the devs are that kind of "I know nothing about my own game Jon Snow"-Thing.
I bet you are that kind of brother who wants gifts on his brothers birthday too.
-
It is a good idea.
Slugging and being on the ground are so outdated and it isnt fun at all.
Even with the buffs, to have so much pressure just with putting people on the ground and no way you can stand up untill you have perks is just bad game design.
With the speed we need to see, but the easiest counter to that is simple: Just hook.
-
Oh and dont forget, how do you know you are high MMR?
-
@AcelynnBen said:
wanna know why, BECAUSE EVERY GAME IN HIGH MMR IS SWF
every game. EVERY SINGLE ONE THEM, and all with borderline 2k 3k hours on dbd
like seriously what type of game am i suppose to play when i don't even get the chance, no wonder nurse is being spammed, seriously can u play a single game without 4 gen regression perks?
im sorry but im gonna start tunneling too, yes im casual but to wait 4 mins just to face swf every time is really not worth playing nicely, and yes just because i play casually doesn't mean i don't wanna win (something this community will NEVER understand)
MMR was probably the worst idea to ever grace dbd, mmr works for pvp games with balance things, this game is far from balanced AND ITS 4 V 1 yes i wanna play against a bit of competent survivors but to get punished for playing GOOD is something beyond my understanding
wanna know the worst part, TTVS are actually streaming with their cheater friends...yes i've seen it im not gonna name any because i already reported them (no answer so far) but seriously we reached the point of people streaming cheaters and not getting banned, that's something i've never seen
and honestly soloQ players are just the victims of this, swf is seriously seriously a giant problem in this game and when people say just limit it only duo
yOu gOnNa pUnIsH PlAyErS FoR HaViNg fRiEnDs?
so u enjoy going against a nurse and getting camped and tunneled every game? (clearly not since everyone is complaining about it)
i've always played nicely since i started playing this game, always saying that survivors need to play the game too, but honestly, what's the point, yes they are playing the game but what's the point of letting them play if they are just gonna end the game in 5 mins and go wait for 10 seconds in queue while i wait another 4 mins
you know i always enjoy high mmr in games, but honestly in dbd i think im just gonna sit in the corner of a map and lower it just so i can try new builds without getting stressed to hell
PS : keep the "skill issue" or "git gud" or some dumb opinion to yourself, ty
Bet you already tunneled and camped before.
You cant proof that every game is SWF's. Also you will fall down and settle if you would continue to play nice. If you tunnel, you get higher MMR, maybe fall down a little?
Untill you ask or can proof otherwise, there is 0 indicator that survivors are SWF's. The game was designed for SWF's, it just baffles me that Solo Q doesnt have the changes to make it more to SWF's, like aura readings and information. This way you can balance some things better out.
And killers dont have it the worst right now, they got some buffs. Its time that solo q get some buffs.
And since its a forum, skill issue, git gud blahblah. You cant prevent opinions just because you dont like them.

But what i and many others fear is that they forget what good survivors or swf specifically will be able to do with the means they give them.
See the once again much mentioned boil over they released. In itself something good to give people more of a chance to avoid permanent consequences (losing a hook state, chances of getting hard camped etc). But the people that know how to use it to it's full efficiency straight up weaponized it and stuck with it until the devs had to intervene.
And I don't say it's survivor exclusive but a phenomenon of people hiding behind anonymous alias leaving all manners of being civil behind them if they get the chance. (I hope i get my thoughts across as non native speaker and not being sure to have used the right words)
These over the top SWF's and OP SWF's, are a minority compared to the Solo Q hell right now. Many killers dont even know they are facing an SWF, they just think its that way cause they got stomped.
And i'm pretty sure, most of the time it isnt or its not high MMR.
The MMR system ist bad on both sides and some people reach higher MMR than they should. (Both sides)

the issiue aint the mori. The issiue is unbreakable basekit infinitly. And im only ready to adapt to a certain point, if this game wants only top tier skilled killers im happy to be no part of it. I play for fun, i dont want to sweat and before you put me in a certain category, i never camp, i dont tunnel on purpose and i only go for 4k sluggs when i have a certain challenge, im fine with loosing the abillity to 4k slugg while i get its cheap. But im not fine to being prey for bully squads just because i dont want to invest hours and hours in the game to finally have a chance. I want to have fun while playing, not to play while trying to get to have fun.
Dead hard was a diffrent thing aswell, it was hated towards all over the place and both sides didnt like the way it was, actually there is no sides either. I play both killer and soloQ and so do many people. So if the types of killers that just play for fun and dont want to sweat too hard, who play soloQ sometimes too should be scared away this is the way to do. This and not dealing with hackers. As you said its on the PTB but the general direction of the update is just more sweat for both sides, you make slugging harder tunneling and camping will increase.
So yeah, if this game is meant to be a sweatfest tournament rather than a fun party game i guess ive wasted my money.
They just announced it. They still need to look at it.
Who said if the changes is coming that the killers who rely on that get changes aswell to compensate?
Slugging is such a boring thing for the receiving end and i think its too old that you cant do anything at all.

I'm pretty sure its not just BBQ, its a combo of many things. You know, survivors got theirs also removed, so its not just killers....

First of all, its on the PTB, it doesnt come out on the next patch anyway.

Camping/would be camper killer: let's see leave hooks for no reason if I decide not to run current bbq for a slightly easier chase and risk losing guaranteed pressure ot a guaranteed 2nd hook state with a possible grab hmmm such a hard choice
Meanwhile a would be camper with old bbq: oh there's my next target getting these stacks will take no time *leaves hook*
Well, its clear that camping and tunneling is effective right now. But its not like you got buffs etc to make other things more worthy. You just proofed why i wrote this thread.

If you give a group of 10 people five pennies each, but a separate person a single dollar, who won out?
The basekit pop barely even offsets the time it takes to kick the gen, and they lost a perk that did a flat 25% regression to get it. The quantity over quality meme about those changes is kinda baffling if i'm honest, since they not only don't add up, but they involve forced duration cadences: If that 0.2 second faster blade wipe paired with that 4 less meters gained by the survivor still ends with you getting smacked in the face by a pallet instead of landing your lunge (or even trading,) then it has done literally nothing for you in that exchange. You could make the same argument for the 5 seconds of BT+haste, so they decided to buff both to boot so that even in the basement it is now impossible to prevent someone from reaching the window or pallet unless you are able to bodyblock them for at least 2-3 seconds. Their value isn't even comparable.
Just because you dont get value out of it, doesnt mean everyone dont get.
Saw many games were gen regression was really good.
Also 10% is much. Especially in multiple chases. It even creates dead zones faster.
The game is designed that you sometimes get pallets in your face. Chases shouldnt be just free downs.
And tunneling had not much counterplay after the update, since DS was nerfed etc. And everything should have a counterplay, so Base Kit BT is fine. Switch target or tunnel anyway. You can avoid the base kit BT.
I still think tunneling and camping shouldnt be rewarding at all.

Ok where's the buff that incentivises killer to leave the hook?
Old bbq had something that got killers to leave the hook with
You mean faster Bloodlust in chase?
Longer Gen times?
Faster recovery from hitting, breaking Pallets and going trough windows?
Survivors get less distance after being hit?
Littery things to leave the hoo, go to gens or chase, made better.
Dont forget the buffs to gen regression, where you can focus more on chases.

punish the killer even more and you'll find yourself playing with bots... the problem isn't that those strategies are too much effective, the problem is that you are forced to do them in order to keep up the pace with the survivors and their goal. For that matter you should gave more reasons for the killers in order to play in a certain way, not punish it for doing the exact same thing that survivors most of the times did (aka rush their goal)
Same could be said about survivors.
The best chance not get camped and tunneled is doing the game fast and doing gens fast. So its not just killers forced to do it, Survivors as well.
I rather do my games fast and escape, than sitting on hook until i die.

I mean, inbuild BT with speed bonus that stacks on top with normal BT is a pretty neat survivor buff.
Punishing people for playing will never work. Only rewarding people for playing in a desired way works. Devs took the reward for leaving the hook away and the amount of camping increased. Its not like people said that this exact thing would happen.
The buff patch has disproven that rewarding helps. They even play scummier now. So i think it should start punishing killers harder, than just less Bloodpoints.
-
I wish the time back before MMR. The games overall felt more casual, you had some sweaty matches between, but nothing compared to now.
