I have let the killer kill me few times after having a bad match. Honest though it can come across as BM though.

As a killer id personally just love if you guys can just get out without standing at the doors waiting until the last second wasting my time. Just go and type GG and thats it...thats all we need.

Just chase them out. None of them have the balls to leave the gate anyways. It's all meaningless.

I mean it is an opinion piece so if I say I'd find it not fun there is nothing wrong with that. Not sure what you are so angry over. People have corrected my thoughts and I have changed my view I didn't realize a totem after being rekindled if cleansed is gone forever. That's fine then the perks all good just ignore my post

I'm not angry at all. I wish these forums weren't so predictable.

  • I play both sides and no. Killers don't complain near as much as survivor players do. I wish the complaining on both sides would stop. I sincerely believe people should play both sides and not be biased. The game would be so much better off as well as these forums.

Not a survivor main but no worries, so you are saying you are okay with holding a button for 100 seconds and will have fun? I like the perk but just concerned

I'm not sure what you're saying but this "it's not fun and boring" ######### has to stop. The game doesn't center around YOUR fun. Everyone matters not just you.

  • @Danielgdp3 said:

So this is just an opinion but this perk is going to make being a survivor very boring and also make already strong killers even stronger.

Sure you don't start with the perk active but all it takes is one totem cleansed and you have it to be used all match which makes it better than Ruin.

It only takes the killer 2 seconds to use it and then you have -30% gen speed. Which means it would take about 104 seconds to do a gen solo now. So this perk is already doing more than thanatophobia even with all survivors injured. And yes you can cleanse the totem but that takes 12 seconds. And after you cleanse it the killer can see it's aura again and just go back and take 2 seconds to start it again. So pretty much survivors will be spending a whole match with -30% gen speed minimum, and can be even worse if they start performing rituals on more totems.

Honestly this perk is a great idea overall but it seems that it will make playing survivor insufferable as no one wants to hold m1 for 104 seconds x5.

Was waiting for this. Anytime a new killer is released the survivor mains come on here screaming how it's not going to be fun to play against or boring. You guys will never stop until the game is dead.

NOED doesn't spawn if all totems are boon totems. So survivors just need to cleanse 1 totem, keep the other 4 as boons and they'll never have to worry about NOED (or Pentimento, but they'll need to cleanse that one totem a second time, so it's permanently gone).

Sounds like a perfect reason to make sure survivor ques are even longer.

Just played a game with a swf. They had two Mikaela's and made an offering for an indoor map, obviously the one they play all the time, because as with most maps, gens tend to spawn in roughly the same area. Within minutes two healing totems went up either side of the map. Of course these totems don't just work horizontally, so they basically had the benefit of healing on all the map.

I can't take anything away from them, they looped well but was a bit annoying when somebody else could take a hit while the other healed. Not wanting to camp the hook, because I would rather lose against a good team, then waste my time standing by the hook for one kill and what is basically a lose anyway.

What are people's thoughts on this. I have only seen this twice, but as a survivor team on comms, it seems to be effective, although the map did not help, being the saw map, which is big and my worst map for both killer and survivor. I think I prefer RPD and that's saying something.

I can guess that it will get worse when they start putting Mikaela's perks on other survivors. At least in the lobby you know what you are getting into, when you see Mikaela's there.

Like I said, they played well and it was ggs, but maybe this boon thing should be an addon, such as medkit, which most Mikaela's I've seen takes in with them. Different levels could mean whether they would be how many long they last, and extra's could help.

Anytime I see more than one Mikaela I immediately back out and que again. One is bad enough. Same when I'm playing survivor. Some challenges require me to cleanse totems.

Playing a killer in this game is rough.

Not only because of the mechanics of the game, but because both survivor players and the developers themselves have an odd, often hypocritical attitude towards the role.

'Easy to play' killers are nerfed, despite being mediocre at high level. 'Hard to play' killers, however, aren't buffed - out of fear that it would be OP at high level. See: recent Wraith nerfs and the BHVR statement on kill rates regarding Nurse. That's a double standard, and double standards are bad.

Survivors on the other hand will DC/complain bitterly if you play a killer/addons/perks that make it easier for you to win, but will run full meta perks, a fancy toolbox and use an RPD offering. They all play sweaty as hell, but if you play sweaty they'll pitch a sulk. On the other hand, they'll gloat and teabag you all the way to the gates if you go easy.

    I care.

Not much, and I always try to keep in mind that they are sad, probably lonely people who need to get their jollies by giving me a headache in game.

That said, nobody is immune to this crap and it definitely builds up over time.

I'm immune to it. I turned messages off and I don't PC game anymore. Can play however I want and not care what the angry 24 year old manbaby has to say.

I played a lot of matches since the update, and i've only seen Rin-chan like once when before there was an army of them all with the same school girl kawaii desu :3 costumes. For me it's basically like the update when Stridor was gutted and you couldn't hear the footstep where of a sudden they disappeared.

The killers i see VERY consistently these days like 70% of the time are Nurse, Blight, Huntress and Bubba to the point where it's become so boring playing survivor because i already know what to expect.

This is not a direct complaint to her nerf really, but every single time a killer gets nerfed in this game, you see always this group of people who sing the same old song of "now the killer takes skill, the bad players will stop playing and the good ones are gonna be fine", except that's pretty much never the reality because the supposedly "good players" seem to disappear too.

Did they all move to the planet Mars servers alongside the "not carried by insta saw A tier" Billys?

I roll a die online. Whatever the number is means that's the killer I'm playing. I dislike rolling 4 because 4 is Nurse but I don't break my own rules. Whenever Spirit's number comes up I play her and honestly she seems fine to me.

Easy. Because some people play. To make the smartest decision we feel is possible. Sometimes that may be camping.

Sometimes camping is necessary. Anyways I never understood why camping makes so many people mad. Camping has been a part of online gaming since I can remember.

    I didn’t ask for a life lesson.

I want this game to be as fun as possible for everyone. Facecamping isn’t fun for the majority of people. Let’s not pretend it’s not a problem ok?

You're gonna get one anyways. Some killers enjoy face camping. If the team is too stupid to realize what's going on then they deserve to all get chainsawed anyways. If I'm up against a camping Leatherface and I throw myself to death knowing he is camping then I deserved to be hooked. You can't rescue everyone Everytime.

  • @legacycolt said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2623123#Comment_2623123

Yeah and people saying “just do gens and don’t save” need to understand that it’s still not okay.

Life's not about being ok. What's not ok to you is ok to someone else. The development team has to balance the game around everyone.

  • @Voodoo101 said:

    No, is the simple answer.

I play killer and survivor equally. I enjoy getting as many hooks as I can, but many killers have resorted to just camping the hook now to get the kill. These players never play survivor, they will continue to play killer and continue to do what they are doing. A lot who play and don't camp may leave.

The question you need to ask is will people stop playing survivor, as many survivors are getting fed up of being camped.

Then you have to ask, if we lose the killers and it leaves the campers, then the survivors leave because of the camping, then where does it leave the game.

Whether you blame the update, the devs, the players or the MMR, something has to change.

Camping is nothing new. You're trying to make it sound like it is and I doubt you play killer that much anyways. There are a ton of survivor mains compared to killer mains. The game can afford to lose survivor players.

  • @Wampa1 said:

I play survivor and killer about equally.Since the reset and updates have reached red rank survivor and am still on bronze for killer,I play mostly spirit, plague and for fun times Myers.I used to progress pretty evenly but have struggled since reset. It is probably my play before anyone says “get good”.I personally enjoy both experiences but have detected a lot of negativity from both sides but more saying they will quit killer,I personally won’t and it is a great pity on both sides that some really good killers feel like that, thoughts and please be nice.😀

Sounds like you've already quit killer or don't play as killer often anyways. Seeing as how you're still bronze on killer.

That's the point. They don't care about getting kills, they just want the endgame salt.

God forbid survivors lose eh? What's the world coming to? Whenever I see a camping Leatherface I just write that survivor off as a loss and repair generators. The way it should be.

  • @DemonDaddy said:

It's faster for the killer to wait out hook phases than engage in chase.

You might hate camping but it's a result of new player coddling and killers being uninterested in drawn-out chases.

Who the heck is interested in drawn out chases? If I wanted that I would go back to F13th. When I'm spectating and I see a survivor looping a killer for what seems like forever, I tell my gf that it reminds me of some episode of America's Funniest Home Videos with the goofy music. Or an episode of 3 Stooges.

Tunneling ruins this game for survivors. This is a problem and I don't know why after all this time it is not a reportable offense. When a killer blatantly comes right back to you straight off the hook and tunnels you down until your death hook the game is no longer fun at that point. Its just not worth playing. There is little to nothing survivors can do to counter this unless you have some kinda insanely coordinated SWF group to deal with toxic killers that do this. Tunneling playstyles have to be discouraged and the perks we have for it aren't enough. The action altogether needs to be discouraged and until there is some kind of punishment for doing it then it will never stop. Tunneling survivors down makes for a miserable experience and there is absolutely nothing at all fun about it. If you play killer and you do this please know you're ruining this game for survivors. You may think its fun but for me it really makes me not want to press that ready button again.

Cry some more. Complaining about getting chased. What's next? All this complaining about basic game features has become absurd.

You don't understand the meaning of competitive. This is a PvP game, where people face each other and battle it out for a victory condition that results in the other side loses.

PvP games are by definition competitive. It has nothing to do with being an eSports. It has nothing to do with being balanced or not.

Thank you. That's the second person to tell me the game isn't competitive because it's unbalanced. Being unbalanced has nothing to do with whether the game is competitive or not.

2 or 3 codes have been given to me and all instantly claimed by let's be real, pc people.

I don't have an issue with pc people of course, but it is so beyond unfair how a lot of you are just sitting on the thread and copy and pasting the code that was given to a console player especially.

I wouldn't ever steal a code given to someone, I know a lot of you are gonna be like 'well get a pc ez or first come first serve' and I'm gonna stop it right there.

I have a pc but my main account is on my xbox and secondly, if a code is given to a specific person then NO not first come first serve, it's just a scummy thing to do honestly.

Yeah if people wanna go off at me then go for it but it's just frustrating to not even have a chance.

survivor queue of korea like 10mins because of there all pc no console

camping and tunneling is very basic and genspeed is too fast killer can't get fun without stress

I agree gen speed is too fast which in turn makes killers want to camp more. I guess things are different in Korea.

they doesn't want fo feel any defeat or stress in this game

thats why i play survivor only

from my view this game's skill cap is low

its mostly matter of machine what your playing

still this forum full of saying kids "this main that main"

killrate from crossplatform because console players don't do killer

but still console survivors have to turn crossplatform because theres no killer

if theres no crossplatform in this game all players gonna play survivor, not killer

console survivor vs pc killer is not about skill anymore

you can play survivor good in console because its tps

also chase in this game matter of survivors mistakes or rigged maps

theres no meaning of compete keyboard+mouse player vs pad player

    same to killrate

if you serious you already knowing thers no all kill possible agans 4pc git swf even its nurse

I do killer and I'm on Xbox One X. Enough with the general assumptions.

Survivor has got to be easier. I see people with hundreds of hours dying quickly. Buff maps so it's easier to escape killers. It's impossible for new players. The killer can also track too easily. If the job for killer has been made easy so it needs to be easier for survivor.

That's the point of being a new player. You have to learn. Do you expect the devs to make it easier to escape killers just because you're new? How would a new player learn anything with someone holding their hand? It's already easy enough to escape with a decent team. There is nothing easy about playing killer. I play both and killer is harder to play by a mile for me.

The game ended in 2 minutes, the dude was the ultimate tryhard. So don't be surprised when ppl are toxic towards the killer.

So you're saying that just because the killer played extremely well and ran your team over he deserves to be insulted? Am I reading that right?

  • @Fuzzels said:

It doesn't really mean a lot. At all. The skill difference between a player with 400 hours and 4000 hours isn't going to be all that much, considering how basic the games mechanics are. Sure on certain killers there's a higher skill cap than others but playing blight for 400 hours, and 4000 isn't going to make a huge difference. If you're not good with it after 400, 10x that amount probably won't help. There's an absolute skill ceiling to this game, and it's not being reached after a few thousand hours, but rather a few hundred. And ultimately a large majority of "skill" is more just knowledge than anything. You know more than a newer player does. That's it. As a survivor, after 400 hours you know what amount of distance you can run to safely reach a pallet or vault, and that information does not change after you've played a few thousand more hours. It doesn't become easier to press your w and space keys, there's no real gain in skill at all. As killers, you know what you can and can't do, and how or how not to do it after playing them for a few hundred hours. Again, that information does not change with time played. Practice sure helps but again, there's a skill cap that is absolutely reached and you cant go any higher than that.

Tldr ; hours played = knowledge of the game.

Knowledge = skill more or less.

There's a hard cap on the amount of knowledge to learn. This there is a cap on hours playing meaning anything

The more you play the more your mind and body become adapted to the game. If you've been it 2000 hours into the game you can come near to playing it off instinct alone.

Trying to stick people in categories as such is juvenile and foolish.

Playing both roles extensively would bring much needed wisdom and awareness to both sides. I play both sides. Some days I will mix it up and some days I'll play one side exclusively. It really is a blessing to know the ins and outs of both.nyou can approach these issues without any bias.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2614738#Comment_2614738

I'm not entirely sure the generator speed is too fast actually. The devs are trying to balance the game so the most common results are some survivors live and some die, but that implies the most common result in a match between equal opponents is the gens are completed and the doors are opened. So assuming the game is balanced you should see the gens done most of the time even if you play well assuming the survivors are also playing well.

Now if the game data has that the most common results are instead in the 0-2 survivors killed range in matches between equally high level players then that would indicate the gens are too quick. But if instead the averages are more in that 1-3 range then the gen speeds are probably about where they should be. Without a way to actually look at data summaries of lots of matches, though, it's impossible to actually tell. The only thing you can know for sure is that if you're expecting 50% of your games to end up with the gates closed then you're overestimating how often that should happen. And similarly if in your own games the most common outcomes are 1-3 kills then that would be an indication gens are going at about the right rate.

There is also the complicating factor of how much benefit a SWF gives in terms of survival rate. I recall a couple years ago the devs released some numbers showing that basically being in a 2 person SWF gave about a +3% increased survival chance, 3 person about a +6% chance and 4 person a +10% increase survival chance. So there is a noticeable difference with 3 and especially 4 person SWFS, hence the requests to balance them out with solo players. Fortunately most survivors aren't in 4-person SWFs, but they are probably more prevalent at high level than in the average game.

10% increased survival rate to who? The SWF playing against a highly skilled killer or the SWF playing against a newbie or a mid tier killer? I think a lot of these posts about SWFs are from the lower tier killers that get matched up with these elite SWF squads. The matchmaking system is subpar.

Not really how that works, like you said in your experience. There is 4 survivors for every one killer, statistically a more sided killer main is gonna come across more toxic survivors than killers, but that doesn't eliminate the fact that killers and survivors are about equally as toxic, the forums are a great example.

In my experience that's how that works. There are no numbers. No proof to say who's right. I've been playing this game since 2018 and that is my experience.

Just a quick reminder, killers are just as toxic as survivors. It is a game and in literally any other pvp game there is just as much if not more toxicity even when you do nothing wrong.

it is the internet, nothing has changed that, and dbd isn't an exception or weird oddity.

Play how you find fun, block endgame chat if it bothers you so much, and if you find being toxic is mean and then you do it, you are not only the problem, but also proving the fact that killers and survivors are both toxic.

That's not true though. Not in my experience. I've rarely gotten hate messages from killers like I have from survivors.

When I tried to kill them all they insulted me in endgame chat. Now I let them escape and play super fair and they still toxic in endgame chat, insulting me ect.

What am I supposed to do ?

Im confused. I dont understand this hate towards killer players.

Survivors ask killers to play fair, no camp, no tunnel, but even if you play like that its still toxicity in endgame chat.

I think most of survivors mains just want to insult killer player whatever happen during the game.

Next time I will try hardcamp games. Maybe they will stop insulting then 🤷‍♂️

It's like I told someone else a couple of days ago. It doesn't matter if you play nice or camp and tunnel. You're still going to get that immature vitriol from emotionally unstable manbabies and teens.

  • Yeah. Big difference between a newbie killer and an experienced one. Can't judge Slinger off one one or two easy encounters with new killers.

it’s not about selflessly trying to have fun and making sure the killer doesn’t have fun. Most people play with their friends because they probably just enjoy it more than solo.

That's not what I've read though. Maybe that's how you play with your friends but the majority of threads I've seen on here are are people only concerned with their own fun. I play Killer and Survivor. I have no bias towards either one.

That's what all it's become. When I play solo survivor it feels like I am playing DBD, when I play with friends it feels unfair and bullying. Like to the point we had to make up out of game rules as to not ruin the atmosphere and fun of the game, for us or the Killer we end up against. Most play groups are not going to be that courteous.

Even when you're not going out of your way to bully the killer it still feels humiliating to them. A coordinated flashlight save, pallet save, and coordinated repairing to always be repairing the gen opposite the map where the killer is, or only pulling the killer away from the gen to be worked on. Coordinated hiding. It's just plainly not fun for the Killer - at all, and these are very normal things to do in a SWF, and then get's mistaken as bullying because - on every time I try to chase an injured survivor one after another I get body blocked. Chase a different survivor the ones are already healing and body blocking again. Gens go quickly or steadily as they keep body blocking. When you do finally down someone there is always 1-3 survivors nearby to drop a pallet or get a flashlight save - they always coordinate getting downed in the open so the Killer can't look at a wall. Try slugging, they coordinate unbreakable.

Coordinate Head On hits during chases. Coordinate gens to blast mine, and which ones to complete. Coordinate to avoid a 3 gen.

You're right. I think the people that play SWF only concern themselves with their fun and not the fun of the killer. That's what I've gathered from the numerous threads I've read on here.

I suspect if they tried to separate queues into “no swfs allowed” and “swfs allowed” it would be terrible for both queues. Something like half of all games involve a swf group of some size, so you’d be bifurcating the survivors between the two pools. And there are a lot of killers who don’t like going against 3-4 person swfs who would just go to the non-swf pool. So you’d end up with longer queue times and worse matchups in both queues because of the lopsidedness.

Personally I think the better long term solution would be buff up solo survivor play so they get some of the same sorts of information on the other survivors that swfs have, like maybe making Kindred a base survivor ability. Then to compensate slow gen progress overall to make up for the overall buff to the survivor side. That would keep matches at about the same game length and such as they currently are but would even the playing field and results between games with 3-4 person swfs and games that are solo or 2-person swfs.

I do think generator repair speed should be slowed down and regress speed should be sped up. That would alleviate some problems people have with SWF groups. I don't think solo should get any sort of buff though. You're on the right track though.

This is so dumb. I guess having fun with friends is ilegal now and is considered bullying

So is it fun with friends or just an easy way to win? This forum talks about toxicity and unhealthiness alot but which is it? Because I also believe coordinated groups are unfair but people should have the right to play with friends. Why not just make it to where groups of friends can play together but it doesn't count as a ranked game? Seems to be the middle ground here.
