  • Survivor adepts are easy. Just play a few games until you get it. Killer adepts however…

  • Yeah I just tried 3 games with Clown and my god… I had free 15% haste the entire match which sat at 20% for a large portion with Rapid Brutality + STBFL combo. It was the dumbest 3 games I've ever played. The survivors couldn't make any distance or mind-game any pallets because I was just zooming the entire game. It felt like Blight but without the difficulty of landing rushes.

  • To each their own. I have 0 issues with them for either side.

  • Personally I haven't felt bothered at all playing killer against them, I can still see the survivor pretty fine inside the fog. And as a survivor, I haven't felt any real value in using it either. I assume most will revert back to other items once the novelty wears off.

  • I'll be the first to agree that the garbage tier killers (and there's quite a few of them) need buffs, but 3 gens for 1 down is almost always because you did something wrong. Especially seeing as the survivor spawn logic has changed and they now all spawn together, which is better for the killer as it takes them longer to split pressure.

  • You know what, I'll give you props because I read the thread title and wrongly assumed you meant annoying for the killer, not survivors

U shouldn't put him in middle so… more likely to be in the upper part of your screen.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/R1CSELI659ZJ/img-9751.png

U have the opportunity to reveal him by using your 3rd face camera while hiding behind walls/textures, nothing problematic to deal with revealing from the survivor side :/ Again, doing this in of where he can crouch to put himself down and cover part of the model is mistake

I also played against ghostface on survivor as well and never had issues with so called bug except in two cases in my whole life

I understand there are certain strategies to "properly" reveal him, but why does this even exist in the first place? Especially since this is not explicitly stated anywhere in his power description, but was only found through trial and error by the playerbase. It's janky if you can only reveal him with the top-middle of your screen. It's also buggy because, as I've said before which you seemingly ignore, I've tried to reveal him countless times out in the open, full model on display, and it does nothing. Buggy, janky, whatever you wanna call it, the reveal function does not work properly a large portion of the time.

He was crouching, it also making an impact. A lot of players don’t put ghostie model in the right part of the screen (yes, u need to do this), and don't realise the % issue. If he is crouching, his model reduces up to 50-60% and it takes more time to reveal him

If u are doing everything right, he will be revealed in the second one and 3 if u choose the right angle while he was leaning /crouching.

An actual bug of his reveal is accompanied by either an annoying long sound both killer and survivor can hear, or u can realise it by the killer's behaviour of attempting to hide under some texture. If he wasn't doing this, it means he wasn’t notified by your attempt to reveal, so u just did it completely wrong. Or killer catched timing and decided to hide in right moment to reset timer.

I’m up to change his stalk mechanic, but not because it’s so hard to counter lol. Being able to punish a killer by simply looking at him just sounds ridiculous and outdated after the stealth changes in the game. He has bugs, but usually it doesn't affect the survivor except case of being exposed after ms of revealing him.

Um, no, there's no defending his reveal mechanic when a large portion of reveal attempts happen when he is right out in the open and I'm staring at him in the middle of my screen and nothing is happening. It's a buggy and janky mess and should be addressed at some point, but he's a weak killer so not getting revealed a lot of the time doesn't really bother me.

  • As someone whose most played killer is Huntress, I think the real problem and why she feels so awful nowadays is simply map design. Newer maps have so much tall clutter everywhere it's impossible to throw hatchets at long distances anymore. She thrived in the early days of DBD when a majority of the map pool was the OLD versions of Autohaven, Macmillan, Coldwind Farm, and Red Forest variants. These maps had a lot of short filler tiles, and a few tall tiles like jungle gyms. You also usually had plenty of direct line of sight to most of the gens across large distances of the map, which is Huntress' strength. Then they got reworked and now a lot of the gen spawns are in buildings, behind them, or within structures like jungle or pallet gyms. They also have a lot more clutter everywhere which hinders her a lot.

Not to mention indoor maps that are impossible to win on against competent survivors. That accounts for Lery's, Gideon Meat Plant, Hawkins, Midwich, and the RPD variants. I would also argue that with exception to Shattered Square (Knight's release map), virtually none of the newer maps benefit Huntress at all with their large amounts of clutter, tall tiles, and most of which contain an extremely tall main building structure in the centre of the map.

The only good/decent maps for Huntress as of right now in my opinion are: Coal Tower, Ironworks, Shelter Woods, Blood Lodge, Wreckers Yard, Rotten Fields, Mount Ormond Resort (all 3 variants) and The Shattered Square.

This is why Springtrap is, right now, the best ranged killer. He has free map traversal directly on top of the gens with his security doors, can move at 115% at will by leaving his axe on the ground, does not need to waste time reloading at lockers, and does not suffer from these new map designs because of it. Sure, Huntress is always the best at long range pressure. But, this doesn't mean nearly anything when she can barely utilise that strength in 70% of the maps.

    @GeneralV

As Ghostface's main, a lot of people still don’t understand his mechanics. It depends of %of his model u can see (%needed varies if he is leaning towards to object or not ) and where exactly u put him on screen.

Don’t reveal him in open fields. Especially if he is far distance. I faced so many goofy situations where people just stared at me like they were stalkers, not me, and they still got exposed. Ofc they can complain and whatever, but killer main also tends to get messy with it and being exposed from angles where it shouldn't happen.

Just as hint: the principle of revealing close to principle of using flashlight. U need right angle and yes, reveal mechanic has the timer

Nah his reveal is buggy and janky. I literally played a game today against Ghostface who was crouching in stealth following my teammate. He was out in the open, full model, and I was staring at him and not a single second of it started to reveal him. He kept walking in stealth like nothing was happening.

    1. Ghoul - extremely fast map traversal and free injuries (hit validation problem - half the time I get hit behind walls). Kidnap tech needs to addressed. Most Ghoul players in my experience also hard tunnel and immediately leap back to the unhook.
    2. Wesker - overloaded kit that incentivises tunnelling: has 2 dashes that can be used as map traversal and a chase tool + free slowdown with infection + killer instinct to on the spray which most Wesker players use to tunnel.
    3. Springtrap - similar to Wesker, has an extremely loaded kit - a ranged attack, which the Springtrap can just throw out and leave to move as 115% for 90% of the match and just return the axe when you're close to a survivor, the security doors spawning right next to basically every generator on the map letting him teleport at any time to any gen he wishes.

No one can convince me dbd matchmaking is based on anything but speed and convenience. The weird part is that my killer queues are almost all high performers. My survivor queues are super uneven. I chock this up to a lot of good survivors being in parties, which is likely why I encounter them more as killer and less as a soloq survivor.

Feel same the way about my killer and survivor matches. I get good survivors as killer, but playing survivor solo queue is hell.

  • @Hex_Ignored said:

She is a difficult killer to balance solely because of her insta kill mechanic. We've seen how quickly that can spiral out of control after her first rework.

Remove the condemn mori entirely and you can actually buff her in other aspects to be more fun for both sides

Because getting stunlocked in games sucks. This is a form of stunlocking.

Except being blinded by a flashlight only stuns you during pick-up animation, not while you're hooking, breaking a pallet, etc. Part of the killer gameplay is looking down and tracking the survivor by sound if you're blinded.

  • Case A: That is 3 survivors not on gens all swarmed around the same hook, sounds great to me. And it's 1 blind, unless you simply can't look down…

Case B: If you down a survivor, face a wall when you pick them up. If there's no walls nearby, be cautious then. Quickly scout around the downed survivor where others may be hiding. Get a free injury/chase them away and then pick up.

If you hate it that much, use Lightborn or something. I don't have any issues with flashlights lol

And ur the most entitled Survivor main I've ever seen that only cares what happens to the survivors side.

Based on your responses, you are clearly someone who doesn't play Nurse, so I don't know why you're even trying to argue if you think she's hard to play or not. Bottom line is, Nurse has a simple power. Blink. There's no fancy techs like Blight, Wesker, Ghoul, etc. This means her ceiling is not as high as other killers. Her skill floor is definitely higher than most of your average killers because you NEED to blink to do anything which is different to other killers, but due to the lack of techs, her skill ceiling doesn't reach as high. This does NOT mean she isn't as strong as the other killers with higher ceilings, but she is simply easier to be good with.

Also using the Google AI as evidence for your claim is so funny lmao

Frankly I want to see Insidious grant Undetectable at the start of the round until first down, or do something for chase or on generator pop maybe. Nobody uses this perk because there's no reason to stand still too long as Killer.

I think undetectable until first down is actually too strong in the hands of the better killers. Imagine versing Nurse/Blight with Lethal who can injure everyone while undetectable, and THEN start downing survivors. I think a more reasonable version would be undetectable until first injury, so stronger killers like Blight don't get free undetectable while rushing around injuring everyone but weaker killers like Clown, Pig, or Trapper will likely have it longer until they score their first injury.

  • Opposite effect for me. I love running Lethal and I am seeing 3-4 survivors spawn in the same area consistently.

  • Realistically, the event should at least have a 2x multiplier to all BP gains like they have in previous years. This would stack nicely with the dessert offerings and entice those who don't use them to… use them…

I would love to see a "ban killer" option, I'm not too familiar with League of Legends but I am aware those gamers can ban someone they don't wanna go against.

While I'd love to see something like this come to dbd it'll never happen because no one would want to go against blight or their sweet precious nurse that they care so much for.

League players can ban 1 champion each (so 10 total) because there are 163 different champions. DBD definitely does not have the character count to be doing that. Also, certain killers would more than likely be banned 90+% of the time.

  • @fnerfner said:

@Johnagon_Infinity you're looking at it from a killer perspective.

What you want to do is hear about balanced nerfs and changes to both sides, then complain so much that the balanced nerfs and changes only apply to one side. This makes the game fun for 80% of the community and ensures nobody want to play that 20% but how could that possibly affect the 80%?

It's incredibly stupid to say "it's fine that x is unfun for this side because the other side has x thing that isn't fun too!" You can address both things. Map balance is ######### awful in DBD and THE main gripe I have with balance. And yet, it's probably the thing that will take the longest for BHVR to do anything about.

  • Oni camping is the least of the game's problems. As a reminder, Oni is FORCED to EARN his power by injuring survivors (pro-tip: deny him of the first hit as long as possible. Drop every pallet. Don't let him hit you). And unlike Artist, Skull Merchant, etc, his power is on a LIMITED timer that you can WAIT OUT. It's not rocket science. Also, there's a nifty new perk from Rebecca that has become extremely meta that you can try and make use of.

Let's not make spur of the moment, angry venting posts without thinking it through. Oni is by far one of the most balanced killers this game has currently.

  • Those offerings are still technically in the game. People who played back then more than likely have some stashed away on a character. They never remove offerings like that, just disable them. They would have just made it so the bots have every offering available, including disabled ones. No point coding some new thing to 'hide' them, as BHVR and laziness go hand in hand.

  • idk I kinda dig the Cyberpunk McDonald's worker fit

well it honestly just begs the question obviously, why is ghost face one of the only killers that get to see the progress of his effect on the survivors, I don't believe even Sadako can see that information

I believe if we're going to sit here and argue whether plague should get this change, then I think we should actually debate all killers with a ring effect around the survivor should get this treatment

Sadako isn't the best example I believe, being condemned literally gets you killed and out of the game. The Ghost Face mark simply makes you exposed and insta-downable. It's the same reason Pig cannot see the timers of her RBT's; it would encourage unhealthy tunnelling (as if that wasn't already a contentious issue) and make 1 survivor have the absolute most miserable experience of simply trying to either take the RBT off or get the tape into the right TV. I've versed really great Sadako's before and their ability to know which TV you need to use the tape on is already quite oppressive. They don't even need to see the progress. Plus, there are little effects around the icons as well as the actual survivor to know if they have high condemn progress.

About the actual topic though, I can't see why Plague shouldn't be able to see infection progress. Outside of Corrupt Purge, she is an M1 killer who (hopefully) has pressure by forcing everyone to be injured. And she cannot simply mori or kill someone out of the game, so I don't see why not.

  • Ok cool thanks for letting us know

  • I don't think BHVR know you can use the words "Pig" and "buff" in the same sentence

how would you nerf the high mobility killers? blight might get less rushes, wraith might not be able to stack speed addons, but what about say nurse?

Wraith, while having high mobility, is not a killer I would consider as needing nerfs. He sucks. Hit and run strategies have been mostly dead in the water since COH was added. Balanced and smaller maps would be a nice, needed buff for him.

The only killers I would consider nerfing straight away if maps were changed would be Blight and Nurse, with Spirit on the radar. All I want with Blight is an add-on pass. His base-kit rushes are fair and fun (and honestly they seem so slow because EVERYONE uses speed add-ons). Issues arise when you realise that his add-ons are extremely overtuned. Compound Thirty-Three is beyond broken and needs immediate removal/reworking. Alchemist's Ring needs the same treatment. Adrenaline Vial would need number nerfing, as well as his 2 speed add-ons.

Nurse is a hard one to try and come up with a solution for, as simply increasing blink recharge/fatigue time would be an extremely boring route to go. I feel as though she just has a power that is hard to balance without completely changing. The only thing I would want for sure would be her new Campbell's Last Breath, which is already insanely good for her on larger maps, to be nerfed.

As for Spirit, if the audio bug with phasing was fixed, it'd be a "wait and see" scenario I would think.

I can't imagine any other killers would be too overbearing if all maps were brought down in size.

  • @Halloulle said:

if you want to bring m1 killers / weaker killers up to what is considered A tier killers you have to do it via changes that do not also benefit the already A tier killers. Kinda like how the HUD helps Solos a lot by telling them what their teamies are up to but provide no new information to swf.

That's the biggest issue with map redesign I have - if maps are reworked high mobility killers have to be reworked as well. Because cheanges that benefit M1 killers also benefit them.

Unfortunately that is just something that the devs need to work through - it's going to be impossible to properly balance killers if the maps they play on aren't balanced themselves. It's what I think is the biggest issue DBD has. If maps were balanced, making changes to killers would be much easier and straight-forward. It would not be hard at all to just nerf the high mobility killers if they overperform if maps were changed.

calem, im sorry, but there are female killer who have been sexualized for years in dbd, huntress is a perfect example of this so is the artist as well, she was the "mommy" of dbd for a while, but also who cares, its only a game as well, we are all here to have fun, not not pick and cry about something that actually does not affect the game or gameplay, maybe keep discussion to things that are affecting played games a and suck might be more useful here , also may i remind u of all the skins dropped in the past that are sexualized or can be, aka spirit from the new game hooked on u whos skins are now moving to dbd , trapper in his tighty whities, and a few others, so why stop and pick on this killer when its been done many times before, once again this is a game we are here to play and have fun on, so if ur just gunna cry about cosmetics, then maybe its time to hang up dbd and move on

You've clearly not read anything else I've said in the replies. TL;DR other killers have gameplay + lore, while SM exists solely to be sexy. I am NOT against sexual characters. I am also not even focusing on the cosmetics, it's the entire chapter. Her skin was just the thing that made realise sexualisation was BHVR's focus this entire time, and not a good story + power. This whole release is just sad. You have provided nothing to the discussion.

Win streaks prove nothing, just that the matchmaking is a joke.

I had a 36-game win streak on Nurse, the first time I played her. (proof) Every game was a 4k, not a single hatch. I was a baby Nurse but the survivors that the game gave me were even more babies, so I ramped up faster than my MMR did and kept winning for 2 consecutive weeks. I ultimately lost a game then decided to stop playing Nurse cos I got bored. To this day, my killrate on Nurse is still 98.7% (154 kills / 156 total)

Getting winstreaks in any modern game with matchmaking should be basically impossible, but in DBD as killer it is easy if you tryhard. In fact when I posted this winstreak here, many people came to the thread and shared much longer winstreaks than me, someone had a 90+. We're talking random forum users not competitive players/streamers.

Equip 4 gen perks, don't pick Bubba or Billy, and tunnel the weakest survivor. Here's your winstreak.

My point is that the win streak gives you teams of all calibres, even sweaty SWFs with thousands of hours (eventually). I was saying it takes skill and knowledge to win in ALL scenarios. I agree matchmaking in DBD isn't the best, but I think it's ridiculous to say it proves nothing.

I don't think Nurse is a good example anyway. Mechanically, she is not that hard. All you need is a game or 2 to get used to the blink distance and you're good to go. The rest is just general game knowledge you get from playing all killers. You might have been a baby Nurse but I seriously doubt you were new altogether. If you had never touched Blight before and did the same thing, I guarantee you would not have gotten the same results.

  • Probably win streaks. It takes a lot of skill and game knowledge to consistently escape/4k every game. As survivor doing escape streaks, you have to take into consideration your teammates and how they perform, their perks, YOUR perks, the different killers you'll be facing, trying not to be camped + tunnelled, the maps, the RNG tiles, etc. Same goes for killer. You have to win through all sorts of maps, layouts, survivors, their perks, SWF teams, items, etc.

Since we all know sometimes the game is just favoured to go either way sometimes, be it map RNG or just having a lucky perk build that perfectly suits the situation, etc. But I think the high escape/kill streaks prove that person is a skilful and knowledgeable player.

  • Hooked on You is a different game though with the whole point of making the characters sexy. Regardless of that, they already had proper backstory + lore BEFORE this. Skull Merchant exists only to be sexy and not to have interesting story or gameplay. Like I've already said, no problem with her being sexualised. It's just that it is the ONLY thing about her.

  • @Laluzi said:

I'd have less issue with the horny if the Drone Bone Zone had more merit as a killer.

Like, the Trickster's lore was good. He had an identity that made sense, an easy to follow path to madness and murder, and the things he wore made sense - he's a flamboyant narcissist showing off for his fans. When he's shirtless and decked out in glitter and mascara, I get it. For the Skull Merchant, who's a dissonant mishmash of cutthroat corporate exec, tech fanatic, and LARPer of her inexplicably-gone-for-milk dad's manga, I don't have that clear sense of identity and I can't actually figure out why she's wearing this cyberpunk playboy garb. Which is what makes it feel like a sex grab - there's no in-universe justification, so all that's left is the Doylist one.

Granted, there are some very horny bait skins already out there - we just got the Hooked On You collection, lmao - but those at least weren't the character's only launch cosmetic. Maybe I'd feel differently if there was anything I liked about this chapter.

This is 100% what I am saying. It makes SENSE for Trickster to have sex appeal and show skin - it works with his lore and who he is as a character. It's, for the most part, well written. Skully on the other hand, clearly only had her sex appeal as the main focus of selling this chapter and not her story or gameplay.

Hence why I am saying this chapter is a sex grab - BHVR knew the sex appeal would sell so they completely lazed out on lore and gameplay. There are no other redeeming qualities to her release.

Because realism does not always mean that it would be a good thing in the game.

This falls under the same category like fan favourites such as "Why dont Survivors run slower when injured?" or "Why dont Chainsaws Instakill?".

If we want to go for realism, there is a lot on both sides which needs to be changed. Like Survivors and Killers breaking their legs when they jump down from high story buildings. Or Killers being somewhat hindered by a Palletstun, the smaller ones more than the big ones. Stamina-Systems. And why exactly can this one guy turn invisible and the other girl can go through walls?!

Let alone that Sloppy Butcher is probably the most convenient Slowdown-Perk since the only investment you have is to equip a Perk Slot for some solid Slowdown.

    Ultra-realistic DBD:

None of the survivors actually know how to repair generators. The survivors must hide. They get found, the killer immediately kills them and moves on to finding the next. This repeats until all survivors are dead or they die of dehydration from not being found.

Most of the time it's good that games aren't realistic lol

  • I'm also glad it's over. I refuse to believe the Ormond rework actually did anything for the map. It's still awful for most of the killer roster. Now we have that awesome new chapter to be excited about, right?

  • @Peanits said:

I'm not going to try and convince you that one system is better than the other. That's ultimately up to you to decide, nobody can tell you how you feel.

HOWEVER, I will fact check those key points.

    1. The softcap is not easy to hit. We've stated many times that the distribution of players across MMR looks like a bell curve. There's very few people on the extreme low end, a lot near and around the middle, and then very few people on the extreme high end. There aren't many people at or above the softcap. Many people will claim to be there, but this is almost always incorrect. By comparison, it was much easier for people of all skill levels to hit rank 1 under the old system so long as they played enough each month.
    2. This isn't really the case. The matchmaker starts off very specific and gradually broadens its range the longer you wait for a match. The overwhelming majority of the time you'll be paired against people within a few points of your own rating. Folks who are at one of the extreme ends of the spectrum and playing during off-peak times for their region may have more variance between matches, but there's only so much a matchmaker can do (it can only work with what its got).
    3. Even if this is the case, the old system did not have any separation between Killers, your rank was shared between all Killers. I would hesitate to say that having some separation is worse than none at all.
    4. The system exists in a void. You never see it. You aren't rewarded for increasing it. You aren't punished for losing it. It is solely a hidden number to help find you opponents that are similarly skilled. If you decide to play more competitively to increase a number that you'll never see, that's totally fine and you can do so, but the system certainly is not encouraging it anymore than the old system which was actually shown to your before and after every match.

Again, not going to convince you that you should like one more than the other. Everyone wants something different out of matchmaking and nobody's really wrong.

This is such corporate BS. Lots of points with no proof.

    1. Sure, you say soft-cap isn't easy to hit. But I beg to differ since no matter what killer I'm playing, I still get put against people I know for a fact are competitive players. Why not just SHOW us the MMR numbers to prove it?
    2. I seriously doubt it "broadens" as the wait time increases. I have been put into games with people who have between 100-300 hours as someone with 1.5k hours nearly instantly. On both sides. Even during peak times when everyone is playing. I'm inclined to believe it just drops it altogether and pairs you with whoever after an initial search.
    3. You seem to even admit here that killers shouldn't share MMR. Yes, some separation is better than none at all, but if you're agreeing with us, why was it ever shared at all? Just drop it and make killer MMR entirely separate. Makes no sense that me playing Huntress and getting kills is increasing my Hag MMR.
    4. That's the problem. We don't see it. So, how are we supposed to know if our matches our fair? Instead you leave us playing out sweaty matches and having an awful game experience. And there is nothing for us to fall back on. Why was it bad? Was the matchmaking poor? Did I make the wrong choices in-game? We will never know, which makes people fed up with the secrecy. It's not about wanting to an increase a number we never see, literally every other game lets you see the increase which makes you want to play more and improve. You get no reward in DBD which is probably why the game is on the downhill.

Right, but I think perhaps the point where you stop making the "Nerf Pig" meme is the point at which Pig has been given multiple buffs in a row and is in pretty much the best spot she ever has been.

It was never a particularly accurate meme, but there's got to be a point where it starts being a little weird to keep making that joke as reality becomes more and more detached from it, surely.

you must be fun at parties

Me when I cant play the game and make assumptions because other people told me so

Me when I can't think objectively and realise Skull Merchant is utter dogshit

  • Twins need a rework. Blight needs an add-on pass. Myers probably also needs a rework, but might be hard with the licensing.

Blum House release some good films sometimes, but most of their other films are basically just the "shovelware" of horror. They do not have a consistent form of quality control because they care more about quantity over quality in most instances.

Also most movie companies in general do a horrible job of converting horror games to horror movies (I mean, just look at the Silent Hill and Resident Evil films).

Like I said, I think it comes down to whoever directs it. I'm just praying they realise that good adaptions are Arcane and The Last of Us, and not.... RE, Silent Hill, Mortal Kombat, etc...

I don't have a lot of faith in blumhouse so I expect it to be centered around the the four original Survivors hunting down Vigo or clues about him

I also think the villain will be Wraith. He's the easiest to make jumpscares with

Can I just ask why you don't have much faith? They've produced some incredible horror movies in the past (Get Out, Us, Split, Sinister, among others). I think it more-so depends on who the director will be. They even mention working with James Wan who co-created Saw and Insidious. I actually have decent faith in this project. Though I will say, depends largely on whoever directs this. Also, the upcoming FNAF movie with Blumhouse will probably be a sneak peak at how they want to turn video games into movies. If the FNAF one is actually good, I trust the DBD one will be too.

  • STBFL on Pig

Lethal + BBQ on Huntress. I used to be addicted to Iron Maiden, but I think I've become confident enough in hitting hatchets that I'm only ever reloading after getting a down or hook, so it's not a huge time saver anymore.

    Sloppy on most m1 killers.

  • People falling for egg_'s bait posts are funny, there is no way you can't tell he's joking
