These changes cannot go live
- When a Survivor dies to a hook action or Mori before 6 total hook states, the remaining Survivors gain a
25%repair speed bonus. - When a Survivor that was previously hooked is Killed or Sacrificed, the Killer loses the ability to block, damage, or regress generators by any means.
There are balance problems with this of course. Like how 6 total hook states is way too much and should be 4 and how nothing in this game is so powerful as to warrant disabling all generator regression. That isn't the point.
Even if BHVR finds a way to statistically balance this over the entire killer roster, I do not want this direction for the killer role and I find many people tend to agree. Introducing guidelines for the killer to play by is exactly what killed VHS. It makes every game feel the same, and the role less fun and more monotonous.
The proper way to encourage killers to spread hooks is by rewarding them for doing so. But, you must make sure these rewards are viable across the whole cast. Something which the current iteration does not accomplish as not many killers can even afford to go and kick gens anymore, and the haste is pretty meaningless.
I've seen so many content creators for this game saying that with the right tweaks these changes could be good. From a pure balance perspective, sure. From a health standpoint, absolutely not. No one wants to play by this made up rulebook. VHS died because no one was playing killer. Why do you think that is? BHVR is repeating the exact mistake that one of their now dead competitors made.
Agree totally, the so called killer buffs are pathetic.Base kit BbQ and chilli one of the best things was survivors guessing if you had it,let’s be blunt BHVR is a business and the base is survivor 4-1,they want survivor mains on side possibly to sell upgrades, cosmetics and perks.Killers will eventually say enough.Whats the sound of one hand clapping…

You are right to some extent and a knee jerk reaction on my part, don’t get how I may be lying and to be fair your making an assumption as was i,before the changes have been implemented and have yet to put to the test as the devs haven’t really made the numbers clear so if the buffs are just slight i don’t see them making much of a difference for killer or survivor.I guess time will tell.

Your probably right, just read about the update over the weekend and it was probably just a knee jerk reaction on my part.I guess we’ll just have to wait it out and see,it probably doesn’t help that some of the bigger DBD content creators are being harbingers of doom about it.

Some time ago I had a similar match versus a Bubba, but Bubba at least had the decency at the end to hook us once we were all down.
I'm not sure how common this is otherwise, but BHVR could deal with penalising slugging then leaving on the ground to bleed out by making it reportable.
There are perks such as Unbreakable or Soul Guard which counters this but the sensible response to that is people should be able to bring perks for their playstyle and you are not going to know what happens before a trial begins.
As has been mentioned before, it's so ridiculously rare, but if this becomes more common I guarantee BHVR will bring in Unbreakable base-kit. People who play killer especially wouldn't like that, so I feel most would not want to tempt fate with such short-sightedness.
Some months ago the devs toyed with the idea of unbreakable base kit going so far as the testing stage, but it was scrapped at this point as I think they thought it would unbalance the game, slugging killers are pretty rare imo it’s a bit like going against swf bully teams I don’t think it’s a frequent enough occurrence imo to potentially unbalance the game.

While ignoring obvious things lets ignore how OP Blight is and how broken his add ons are.
To be fair the only thing really making Blight op is his add ons which need looked at.Nurse is still op in the right hands and again needs looked at,but similarly the situation with healing was ridiculously hard for new killer players to cope with especially as due to dwindling killer numbers they were sometimes thrown into matches with survivors way above their skill level all carrying med kits with add ons and circle of healing, the changes are actually imo making the game more balanced.
-
On reading this I decided to go through the roster of all the killers I do or had played regularly and your right some are so bad they are forgettable,I actually forgot clown and Twins existed…You are right but I don’t get the idea of pumping out new killers while ignoring the problems with previous releases,I know it is probably down to revenue or the fact that any fixes to broken killers will be seen as a buff to the survivor main community who will bombard this forum and twitter bemoaning the fact..
-
I agree with some of what you say,but on an higher tier swf squad most are worse than useless to chose and forsake other more worthwhile perks, guess it’s down to value and feel of your build and killer, this was on my part a sweeping statement and not a panacea to these perks but,the denigration of in particular ruin and pop are probably the best examples, the only slowdown with ruin is the 25 seconds it takes someone to be off a gen doing bones then it’s gone, think that compared with boon circle of healing which can be used ad nauseam after being snuffed shows the balance of this game.
-
In a word Yes,look at the increase in lobby times for survivor and the fact that I have seen a marked increase in the frequency killer is getting the player incentive bonus.

Also the most common killers are of course Blight, Nurse, Mastermind, Nemesis then Bubba / Shape / sometimes Legion / Spirit.
It's like playing againts the same 1/3 of all Killers. Maybe once a 5+ games you get like a different Killer. I am so bored playing Survivor. It's just not fun. I don't even care if it's gen slowdown Eruption everygame when the power is the same.
Anyone else feel like burned out?
Mainly because the remaining killers are either weak, broken or require a lot of practise to master due to their high skill ceiling.I started playing a drinking game as survivor every time you play against Artist,Twins or Sadako take a shot….I’ve been sober since September…..

Good.
I know it sounds harsh, but there are plenty of other alternatives for slowdown if players feel like they need it. Pain res, DMS, jolt, overcharge, COB, deadlock, pop, merciless, gift of pain, plaything+pentimento, thana+dying light, even ruin is still pretty underrated when mixed with surveillance or undying. The Devs seem to finally be taking the game towards a place where gen slowdown doesn't need to rule the meta anymore, and that should be celebrated.
Maybe we can consider tweaking E-crutch-on back to being strong in the future, but I don't blame the Devs for taking the nuclear option to ensure eruption was out of the meta, kinda like old Legion. In its place, I'd be happy if Pop was buffed a bit. For the most part, Pop was healthy, it rewarded quick hooks and not camping. Eruption rewarded camping a 3-gen and slowly whittling away at the survivors until the servers shut down.
Most of the “slowdown” perks you list have been nerfed in the recent or distant past and are now either very weak ,poorly designed or a combination of the two.

And that's exactly what happened to me, i have left the game and i am ( was ) a killer main with 1600 hours of gameplay and i no interest to play it again anymore as long those things i have said are fixed
But, when in the Developer update you see
"Visual Update of red forest" while being one of the biggest map and need a rework but who care, is not a survivor problem let's just update the visual not the playability for killer, when you see a massive insane nerf to Eruption ( and if we are honest, everyone have to agree that nerf was INSAME) but it's a killer perks so who care and..A BUFF to a single survivor perk with no reason at all well yeah i don't care anymore. A new killer is coming soon ? Oh wow let me guess another broken m1 killer with subpark perk ?Because, if not, it will nerfed into hell like Freddy and Billy or they simply forgot that killer is in game like Twins (btw, regard Twins, in the last PTB there was a bug for Twins, and EVERYONE asked to leave that "bug" in the game because was a good thing for Twins, do they dev listen to us ? of course not !)
I agree it appears broken killers get forgotten and strong killers get nerfed tbh you made your point when you mentioned the twins,I forgot they even existed. And yes why add a new killer when the broken ones need reworking a cynical mind might say revenue…

So, you're obviously spinning a lot more out of my statement than I actually said, but for the record, yes. This is the healthiest spot the game has ever been for killers. That statement doesn't imply there are no problems, you'd have to read it in pretty bad faith to say that it does, it just means that the game used to be worse.
Healing speeds and map design are a problem. Some of the perks you listed (not all, PT being on there is a massive stretch) are a problem. Nowhere in my post did I imply otherwise.
There are also things on the killer side that are still problems, too. Tombstone Piece is still in the game, Leatherface camping is still uncounterable, Blight still has his busted addons, and so on and so forth. The game still having problems doesn't mean it hasn't improved.
I have played this game since release on various platforms and while I agree with your sentiment of the game being in a good place compared to as it was on release and successive updates,I think that will be lost on killer mains who perceive in my view incorrectly that recent buffs have been survivor sided and nerfs killer focused, the evidence is easily found and used in this argument with the counter being somewhat weak in there perception,I can see it from both sides as I play both sides, the danger is there is a growing feeling of disquiet and resentment within the killer community and my fear is they will leave or switch to survivor, putting us back to the position early last year of insufferable queue times as survivor or low skill based killers in games creating a luck lustre experience.
In my view the devs need to be seen to at least be throwing a bone to these players.I had this very argument on Twitter and a Nurse killer main highlighted her recent nerf and stated the only killer in his mind to receive a recent buff was and I’m quoting “a useless but well publicised buff to Trapper who is rarely played” another retweeted this with the quote “The supposed buff for trapper was like adding a third wheel to a broken bicycle”.It’s hard to argue back when there gripes appear to go unanswered, and so the saga continues.🙄

They'll only buff killers when survivor queue times are so long because no one wants to play killer.
This happened last year when they made significant changes which were seen as killer sided I think this was driven by the lack of people playing killer, the reason the bonus system was introduced, there is a thread on here on that very subject quoting that the bonus is almost always for killer in some regions,I have seen this personally of late.

To be honest there has never been proof of the mass exodus as told by the dbd Bible - people being vocal on the forums about them 'leaving' (if any of them actually went through with it) has never been the best source and completely anecdotal at best. I disagree heavily with the post to be honest because the devs clearly do not value survivors more than killers. They literally can't. If they values survivors more than killer we'd not have current eruption, we'd have had the survivor hud years ago, etc. This game is more balanced than it was when I first played the game, and even than when I was when I started playing regularly. To say otherwise is completely said in bad faith.
There HAS to have more survivors than killers for this game to even function. I'm not sold on the cosmetics theory either - people play survivor because a) they enjoy the role more b) they want to play with friends c) they want to do dumb silly stuff or tome challenges or any combo and cosmetics is just a bonud. Personally, survivor is really boring to play for longer than like 4 matches in a row. Many cosmetics you can get for free, and like statements like that just completely ignore the fact that killers buy skins too. Of course the main reason for cosmetics to exist is sales, this is a company, you are essentially paying for this game through dlc and cosmetics - these pat for servers, employees. You don't pay a monthly fee, they need to make money somehow or the game would literally cease to exist.
And bubba is not leaving, and ST left because Netflix doesn't like free money.
Read the last paragraph, you’ve probably inadvertently strengthened my point. The one thing you got right though is Bubba is not leaving Yet….
-
This happened about a year or so ago when killer numbers began to decline due to the perceived imbalance between killer and survivor, stacked heavily in the survivors favour.
.The devs appear to favour survivor mains opinions as they have the numbers compared to killer mains.
I did notice during this time that survivor queue times were excruciatingly long where as playing as killer got you a match almost immediately. The updates last year went in some way to address the disparities but surprise surprise due to the bemoaning of the survivor community the tide has turned again, first Spirit got nerfed, now Nurse, guarantee Blight will be next and say goodbye to Eruption in its current form.
How many nerfs other than DS and DH have survivors received and as a further way to placate BT was made basekit, not to mention the now ludicrous amount of other second chance perks available to survivors along with the updated intel to solo Q which will be effectively turn 2 or 3 man swf almost as good as a four man plus the added intel to actual 4 man swf.
The devs have to remember not everyone is a full time pro at the game and the casual players I know who from time to time enjoyed playing killer have simply stopped as it is not a pleasant experience which feels tilted in the survivors favour to the point of frustration.
I have seen a steady rise in survivor queue times recently ,and more bonuses being available to killers, looks like we’re back on BHVRs game of ping pong trying to balance survivor and killer.
I understand the rationale of going with the numbers ie survivor community and the potential revenue from them in cosmetics etc,it makes good financial sense, however if things don’t improve I can see a real decline in killer players or rather the quality of killer players which in turn could negatively impact survivor numbers due to queue times and the lack of challenge in playing inept killers, i know we’ve been here before and it’s easy to volley off shots in the direction of the devs without providing any alternatives or solutions.I have had similar moans before on both sides of the game, and the usual response is we’ve heard it all before and the games still going. The brutal reality is the game is not getting any younger, the stranger things franchise lost ,the potential of Bubba going at some stage due to the new chainsaw massacre game, then who’s next.If something is not done soon to balance and reinvigorate this game we may be approaching the beginning of its death throws ,pardon the pun..

As much as I defend the eruption, I'm not a big fan of it, and if the eruption were removed right now, I wouldn't be hurt too much (don't you dare touch jolt)
but the fact that we take away strong toys from only 1 side makes me very sad
Yea totally agree, surv mains took some pretty big hits with some of their fav and most used perks being nerfed last year,i said then the devs would bow to the pressure of said surv mains and give them what they want as a means to placate them,BT becomes base kit for example and any killer perks that side of the community don’t like they become very vocal and the devs usually cave,it is a numbers game after all.Jolt and noed will undoubtedly be next as they are continually bemoaned.

Really don’t like the new design feels awkward and cumbersome, also very dated layout and concept.I get the idea of why it was changed but the previous layout was much better and far more user friendly and unless I’m missing something didn’t seem broken.

@FFirebrandd said:
So... couple things.
First, post unhook endurance does have counters. You can wait it out and grabs completely bypass the effect.
Second, the patch that made that endurance effect be base kit also added 10 seconds to each generator, gave killers faster kicking gens and pallets, faster recovery from successful hits, shorter post hit speed boosts for Survivors, and a bit of instant regression when kicking gens.
I don't know which side came out on top with that patch, but it isn't nearly as cut and dried as you are portraying.
Same with this patch honestly. Yeah... Nurse is getting nerfed, but the Knight is getting some pretty nifty looking buffs and new Eyre of Crows looks a lot less mean to killers.
I agree with much of what you said, but await with interest if nurses nerfs do ruin her,I do not run nurse but can imagine the frustration of nurse mains who have put hours of gameplay and possibly spent money on cosmetics etc for their favourite character only to have her potentially downgraded by the devs.I believe it’s all down to the nurses kill ratio being so high the counter being nurse is very hard to master so I salute players who can so bang goes high skill high reward. The knight is very weak so I would be amazed if any buffs improve it,however time will tell.

So the survivor side has BT and Unbreakable built-in which is fair because of some killer mains but what about base kit perks for killer I find it kind of unbalanced of course their are some perks for killer I think should be base kit like blood Warden or no way out because survivors like to be toxic and brag about their escape because a killer had a bad game or because I'm sure hyperfocus will never get changed even though it completely reverses the 90 second gen nerf maybe deadlock?
The main focus here is if killer mains begin to believe the game has swung to far in favour of survivor player they will switch from killer to survivor or simply quit the game a situation we were in recently before the devs balanced the problems that existed imo.So if you want to return to games where survivors wait an eternity to play games due to lack of killers or play against killers with a reduced ability keep weighing the game in favour of survivors and again watch the exodus of killers we all saw it happen before.

I actually HATE the swamp, not even for balance reasons (although there definitely are a few), but just because it looks SO bad. Like everything is just brown. Brown wooden boats, in swampy brown mud, with brown wooden piers and brown, decaying vegetation. I get that it's supposed to be a swamp but it just feels so uninspired compared to all of the other maps. At least the other realms all have a distinct colour pallete and vibe to them, swamp just has... mud.
The swamp is way outdated it looks very much like coming from an analogue age, tales will be told in future days of both its blandness and brownness.

Lately I've felt my kill rates have been very high, so I sought to find out why. I tracked 4 different sessions on the last patch (6.1.1), each spanning 5 games. I played Blight every game, no add-ons or offerings. My build was Shadowborn/Agitation/Pain Res/Tinkerer, and I did not camp or tunnel.
Combined results below:
-Average 8.9 downs per game
-Average of 4.1 times per game that a pre-patch Dead Hard would have gotten someone to an additional pallet or window
-Average 3.1 gens completed before first kill
-Average 3.1 kills per game (77.5%)
-Average of 1 forfeit (DC or suicide) every 3 games
-Average match length of 11 minutes (all values rounded to nearest minute)
These kill rates seem pretty high, but when put into context they're not as bad. I'll go into that more below:
-In the majority of my 4ks I noted exceptionally poor teamwork at points, like leaving someone to stage 2 or death, or not working on gens for extended periods.
-Dead Hard's nerf is likely a small factor in increased kill rates. I noted many instances in which I got downs off of mindgames that possibly could have been negated by DH pre-patch.
-The biggest factor in kill rate was match forfeits. When discounting all games in which someone forfeited, my kill rate was 61.7% across 15 games.
-When survivors work as a team and play efficiently, my games are still very competitive. I had a lot of really good players giving me a hard time, often with some really surprising builds.
61.7% isn't the huge jump everyone was expecting. In fact, it's fairly on-par with what you could expect from a Blight pre-patch. To be fair, I used no add-ons. That said, 61.7% isn't a big difference from what I at least felt like I was getting before, and I rarely ever used add-ons on Blight even before 6.1.0.
All-in-all, I believe the main factor in why survivors are doing so poorly right now are forfeits. When you have a nearly 16% difference in kill rate between when a survivor isn't throwing the match and when one is, that's probably the issue. If you have forfeits an average of every third game, of course kill rates are skyrocketing. So to the ragequitters out there, if you think a match is hopeless, it probably isn't. Don't DC every time you're losing, because if you do then you're the reason every match is hopeless.
This is a good take on where we are now,I have played both survivor and killer since the update and notice no real difference other than than an increase in DC,s.Another thing to be taken into consideration is just how reliant some players were on DS and DH,I’m sure in time it will settle and people will start using more intelligent builds to replace them.

Hi everyone,
I am a killer main and really enjoy playing dbd. I think it would be in the best interests of survivors and killers to nerf camping to make an overall more fun game environment for all player.
In order to deal with the killers who are tunneling, I think we should introduce basekit decisive strike into the game. Here are the proposed specs:
20 seconds of DS after escaping from the hook. (This DS would increase to one minute upon down to make it harder for a killer to wait it out)
1 charge of DS meaning that it only works once per game per survivor.
5 second stun time to give survivors a chance to escape.'
The DS deactivates when a survivor performs a conspicuous action or all the generators are powered.
Doing this would give survivors 20 seconds to escape from the killer and reset. This would make it much harder to tunnel survivors out because a killer would have to spend more time chasing a unhooked survivor just to rehook them making other targets more desireable.
What does everyone else think of this?
I agree to an extent, but overuse of DS was one of the issues that caused the last update.I think the steps taken with BT after unhook was a positive change.Tunneling and camping are two words thrown about to lightly imo,I agree it is both frustrating while sucking the fun out the game but then so are survivor elements like body blocking, swf gen rushing etc. There are other perks that get round the DS nerf, coconut has a good video posted on you tube explaining it far better than I would ever attempt to.I think the truth is DS as it was is gone and personally as someone who plays both survivor and killer believe the game is better for it.

In a word: Conflicted
My survivor games have been a mixed bag, but it's the kind of mixed back that's hard to describe. I've had an increase of teammates DCing, giving up and so on so that's a big negative but I've also had a big increase in match time (Which in most cases, is good) and those matches come much more down to the wire than before. (In other words, lt's less of a stomp for either side).
Obviously sometimes when I'm matched with a lesser experienced killer, they lose quite badly and I guess that's just backfill issues or MMR sorting doing its thing but when the killer is decent, the games feel much closer.
However with the games being much closer, I find myself getting increasingly frustrated at my teammates. I've had matches where we were winning and then my teammates did something really dumb and cost us the whole game. This was a thing before, but these mistakes are much more punishing in this patch.
Also forever builds need to be tweaked, I feel. They aren't fun winning or losing. They are a slog, a chore.
My killer games meanwhile have also either came down to the wire where I just barely pulled it back or a chill game. Not having to deal with old DH makes playing killer feel 100x better. You can actually swing at survivors now and capitalise on their mistakes in chase. Shocker right?
Well put.👍

Someone know if they are going to rework or better DELETE Rpd ? This map is a disgrace to play
Is absolutely the worst map ever made so far.
Tiny corridors where if you are under chasing and you meet another survivor you are blocked because there is not enough space for move. Those 2 floors looks like a little labyrinth ,is very a bad feeling to play in there.Let's say that all indoor maps are a total trash but RPD is a big mistake to play. Killers can bodyblock the corridors and you can't move and you are totally sandwiched, is a terribile experience add in dbd such content.
This map should be disabled asap
The map was badly designed from the get go,it is not fun at all to play as either killer or survivor, but in the case of some killers the layout makes there power particularly rush type powers virtually unusable. It’s a pity because I disagree about all indoor maps I find the others very playable and fun and actually miss Hawkins.Like others have stated on this thread believe rpd is getting a rework.

Killers got buffed because they needed it, stop acting like this one patch reflects everything. Yes the patch was aimed at killers but that's because killers werent performing as they should and got buffed.
Just because killers got a few 0.3 buffs doesnt make them OP. And as for the 10second extra gen time was to compensate for the mass amount of gen regression perks nerfed.
Game is still 100% in the survivors favor if you ignore people not playing properly and tunneling.
Why should people that waste time and ignore gens, not try and cant lead on a chase win?
This is spot on,there were a number of updates last year which were all survivor sided, it got to the stage that as survivor you waited an age to get a game as so many killer mains had left or switched to survivor out of sheer frustration,me included.Having played as both killer and survivor since update i would say that the game feels more balanced and fair, these changes have been long overdue.

Step 1: Boot up the game
Step 2: Play as spirit in any mode (custom or public)
Step 3: Start phasing
Step 4: Notice it takes a moment to get up to full speed, by the time you're at full speed you have lost roughly 1/4 of your power gage (without duration add-ons). This effect is more noticeable with speed add-ons
https://youtu.be/SrlZEGmHMXQ Pre-nerf, she had no acceleration.
https://youtu.be/4hzlTS5Wymk Post-nerf, the spirit accelerates when starting to phase and when she gets to full speed, 1/4 of her power has already been used.
If this was intended, please address it, if not then please fix it because it makes her feel clunky.
Yep totally, thought it was just me bugging, this seems like a stealth nerf.

They buffed legion. There are still 26 other killers that are struggling with CoH.......I take that back. 25. Forgot about Plague
🤫 plague is the only killer I play since the boons,if you highlight it she will be next on the nerf list.😀

Either the Terrifier from the films of the same name and/or the Nun from the conjuring movies.Like the idea of John Constantine as a survivor.

This is just my own personal experience. I started playing Killer and Survivor again during the recent MMR tests because I can't rightly criticize the system if I'm not willing to try to fix it. I continued to play once it was confirmed that changes were implemented, this is my experience.
As Killer:
My matches before the MMR changes were very hit or miss. Sometimes, they were incredibly sweaty and extremely unfun. Other times, the Survivors were clearly below my skill level. Post-MMR changes, it feels like the first few weeks of MMR. It is consistently awful and sweaty. This is the least fun I've ever had with a video game. Likewise, my queue times as Killer have gone up for some reason. They used to be instant to 20 seconds, now they're anywhere from instant to 2 minutes.
As Survivor:
Extremely long queues. Upwards of 10 minutes prior to MMR changes. Matches were completely random. Sometimes we faced a certain well-known Nurse player, other times we faced a Killer with one perk. Post-MMR changes, we have not won a SINGLE match. Every game is filled with horrible teammates and good Killers. The only game I escaped was a facecamping Bubba who just barely didn't get me with NOED. Queue times are still past 10 minutes, our longest queue was 14 and our shortest was 8.
All in all, my Killer games are unplayable so I'm not going to be continuing with that, I'm giving my feedback and quitting, as it were. As for Survivor, my SWF is getting fed up with constantly getting stomped, horrific teammates, camping Bubba's, hard tunneling Killers and two of them are pretty much at wits end with the game.
My suggestions? If you aren't up to admitting MMR was a mistake, dedicate your resources to fixing the game at a fundamental level. That includes camping, tunneling, gen rushing ect. These are all extremely unfun parts of the game that have NEVER been addressed and will need to be if MMR stays.
I agree totally, but as others have said on this thread the main issue is with the MMR mechanics the changes have changed it a bit, however it is the core problem making the game unenjoyable and in some cases unplayable.

How is this nonsense? Ringu/The Ring is a very well known horror story and deserves to be in the ‚Hall of Fame of Horror‘
why would you even comment this here instead of one of the multiple threads about chapter 23 announcement….
Because it is a free forum,no doubt with near on 7.5 k posts you must have been guilty of this.😂

Probably but never fear this piece of nonsense is coming in March,oh I can hardly wait.🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

this game wont die, because people keep saying " this game is gona die soon" then the average still stays the same and yourself still plays it 24/7 lol.
i useto play this everyday, but now its like a few times, maybe a couple per week only for a few hours each time.
Yep I am the same, used to play mostly killer now I play mostly survivor as killer is virtually unplayable with any degree of enjoyment now.
