Tunneling isn’t an effective strategy 99% of the time, and that 1% happens due to a survivor's mistake, not a deliberate killer choice. Strong survivors will just hammer out gens while you tunnel one person for a single kill. Do it enough times and you eventually get matched with those same high‑skill survivors, and then it’s back to the forums to complain that the game is unbalanced. The cycle never ends.
If tunneling looks like a good strategy to you, it’s only because you’re not actually facing strong survivors. You’re also not tracking the match well enough to know where people are, which gens have progress, or how to interrupt their setup. Without that gamesense, tunneling feels like the “best” option, but it’s really just masking the real problem.

Bi people eating good this chapter. 😎
the downvotes xd
-
- How many hours you have is quite irrelevant, there's very good people that barely have a few hundred. Claiming to be good or bad based on how many hours one has or the character they are playing is not accurate at all.
- If you came back from a break you won't be playing well.
- Gen perks offer little extra speed and require setup, often wasting more time than they save so that's not a problem either.
- Are you sure you're tracking gen progress and where people are?
- Are you just chasing anyone and then perhaps proxy camping them or tunneling them?
Even if you think you are in the right it's always best to look inward for more mistakes to get better instead of externalising blame.

I love coming back to these after a while to see that the account has been banned.

New killers, especially licensed ones, are OP on release to boost sales, even og killers do that, like floaty head.

You can't do anything if you get hooked in a bad area without perks and then get tunneled. Perks or the area you are at also won't matter if the killer is S tier.
Whoever is saying "just get better" or "use it as practise" is full of it.

Thats ping issue but what kind of issue is this.
That's both a game and a ping issue and on both instances it's not the survivor's fault lol

They haven't fixed huntress throwing WHALES instead of hatchets for a decade so I doubt it.

Unfortunately we don’t know what to believe because there has been zero transparency from BHVR about how their internal “official” stats work vs how the player trackers stats work. Why they would be using something different for their internal stats vs what shows up on the player tracker stats requires some logic that is beyond my comprehension 🤦♂️
They work by not accounting for abandons, they are losses.
As for the logic, only God knows. 😂
-
Yeah, as if bad killers wouldn’t just exploit those buffs to tunnel even harder just like how bad survivors use their “defensive” buffs offensively all the time.
-
In the last 30 days, I’ve only abandoned matches at 4K slugs, which have been extremely rare, less than a dozen I'd say.
I believe Mandy mentioned that BHVR’s stats differ from those in the tracker, so their total escape numbers shouldn’t be “inflated” by abandons as you suggested, so no need to worry.
-
I'd rather keep it and last for an extra 5s while I'm getting two tapped, ngl.
Fun times, would definitely play 2v8 as a survivor even without the BP bonus and the instant queue, cough cough.
-
Tools like ReShade, stretched resolutions, and VPNs indeed provide an unfair advantage. They should not be tolerated.
It might suck for people who just use ReShade to make the game look better or use VPNs for a fake sense of security, but overall, these tools can be misused and should probably be blacklisted.

Then its only fair to remove second chances and body blocking. But we both know that wont happen
I'm with you on that one. Especially bodyblocking.

Or..you know..they're just pointing out that they're in fact bad changes.
Eliminating crutches and removing support for poor gameplay is not a negative change. In fact, the gameplay elements being targeted are largely ineffective against competent survivors and these changes primarily exist to allow casual players to, you know, play the game.
On the killer side, many players are artificially elevated beyond their actual skill level through the use of such tactics, often combined with low-risk, high-reward killer choices. And on the survivor side, some players adopt overly passive “ratting” strategies, contributing little to team progress and relying on others to complete objectives or die first.
Neither of these playstyles is healthy, skillful, or deserving of preservation within the game’s ecosystem.
-
Good. 😄
-
I’ll never understand why people playing Pig completely waste their power and tunnel. The whole point of the trap is to take someone out of the game for a while, create slowdown, and shift focus, not to chase them down right after putting it on. You’re supposed to use that time to pressure others, not erase the slowdown you just earned.

As a figure meant to evoke fear or disgust, he doesn’t quite fit the role.
I would find him appealing if he were a survivor. I’ve always appreciated his appearance, I’ve long had a soft spot for twinks. 😂
Besides, he would already look the part if he wasn't carrying a weapon.

To be frank, I'd want her removed from the game not merely because of the immense damage she has caused, but because her lore is, quite frankly, some of the most insufferable writing I have ever encountered. A manga wannabe who tries too hard to appear edgy feels completely out of place in a horror-themed game. At least killers like the Trickster have lore that is coherent and decently written.
Truly, by all accounts, she stands as the greatest failure in the game’s history, one best left forgotten and certainly not worth investing further resources into.

Every free "i don't have to play better" mechanic is handholding. Whether you like it or not, you're simply in denial.
Getting to tunnel or camp someone out of the game without any resistance is by itself and according to your own logic a free "i don't have to play better" card.

No, I gave up explaining common sense to adults a long time ago.
-
To be honest, a few aspects could be adjusted, but referring to measures like the anti-face-camping system as “hand-holding” for survivors is rather cringeworthy.
-
I'd rather see her go through a meat blender.
The amount of harm she did to the game is on such heights that she's effectively been deleted.

I honestly hate this idea that some killers are "weak." I play alot of the killers that people consider "weak" but imo they're just more challenging than others and I prefer that. Some of us dont mind a challenge. Alot of the more recent killers don't require alot of effort to succeed, so there's something for everyone. But I'm probably in the minority for that.
Yes, it’s worth noting that some killers simply play differently from others, and some players see them as weak because they’re used to killers that offer higher rewards with less risk. Thanks for pointing that out, I completely agree.
-
Look at BHVR’s own stats and their statements. They’ve openly said they aim for kill rates to lean in favor of killers, targeting around 60% or higher. That’s not an accident; it’s part of their design philosophy.
Just because some killers are weaker doesn’t mean the role itself is bad. The killer side as a whole is strong, even if individual killers vary in power. And let’s not forget that one of the biggest advantages survivors have isn’t even in the game, it’s outside of it, through Discord and coordinated communication.
On top of that, some maps are simply designed to favor one side or the other. That’s intentional and part of how the game creates variety. So when looking at balance, it’s important to keep all of this in mind instead of judging based on a few weak killers or specific situations.

Wait, so the official stats are going to exclude a ton of survivor losses? This is going to massively deflate the stats on kill rates.
And they're still pretty damn high regardless. 🗣️

By this logic, Nurse is the worst killer in the game, and therefore should be buffed
I said “more accurate,” not “infallible.” Nonetheless, I am certainly more inclined to give weight to objective statistics rather than to the subjective experiences of a vocal minority.
Furthermore, data points such as those concerning the Nurse are primarily the result of players lacking the necessary skill or being overly accustomed to low-skill, high-reward killers. Additionally, some—though not all—killers that are perceived as weak merely require a different playstyle. They tend to fall out of favor not because they are inherently ineffective, but because many players are unwilling to adapt, step outside their comfort zones, and learn new mechanics.
I know it’s a difficult truth to accept, but it is what it is. Every time statistics are presented, some people riot because they see high kill rates in general and also high pick rates for killers they themselves can’t even manage a single kill with, and proceed to perform mental pirouettes, claiming that objective data is somehow less accurate in reflecting reality than their own subjective experiences confined within their personal bubble.
Let us also keep in mind that these statistics pertain to Japan, not to the European Union or the Americas.
-
I suspect that this may be because players in our part of the world are so deeply immersed in their own subjective experiences that they engage in elaborate mental gymnastics to avoid confronting objective realities, such as those reflected in the statistics presented by BHVR.
-
Statistics will always be objective fact and therefore way more accurate in reflecting reality than subjective experience.
-
Where's the option to leave it as is?
If anything the only change should be to adjust hatch escapes so that they count as a win for that individual survivor instead of a draw.
-
Gotta appreciate the irony of banned forum users confidently declaring which side the game favors, despite clearly not playing it themselves.
Let’s be real, trials only seem survivor-sided when the killer decides to play a weak or low-tier character. Yeah, maps and RNG can tilt things a bit one way or the other (BHVR has said as much), but killers can literally pick an S-tier and steamroll their way to 1000+ winstreaks if they want to, which is one of DbD's current problems.
And no, you can’t use third-party comms as proof the game’s unbalanced. That’s outside the game. It’s external help, and even then, the stats don’t lie, SWFs still lose more often than they win, so imagine how Solo Q feels like for a moment.
I’d also like to add that BHVR has said multiple times they don’t want the game to be perfectly balanced , they prefer having killer-sided and survivor-sided maps, and aim for a 60/40 kill-to-escape ratio, for example.

It is absolutely your opinion. Especially when you're going as far as "bring a map", then it's absolutely not about performance.
And yes, if the "boss" has a chance to bring an ability of "the item you brought is a detriment to you. This does nothing if you have an empty slot", then it's probably not always a good idea to go with an item in that case. Especially not an item like a key, map, or vial "just because".
What other example must I provide? Attempting to drive a nail into a wall without a hammer? Failing to bring necessary items to a trial reflects nothing more than greed over resources that are abundantly available in the hundreds. Moreover, anti-item killer builds are far from being part of the meta. You’re essentially inventing a hypothetical scenario to justify being petty with your inventory.
-
If only medkits would dissapear to give the killer a visual that a strong addon got used so that they can plan ahead.

I honestly think it's a matter of perspective, and opinion.
You aren't arguing that it's "more efficient" or meta, which would have some basis. You're just arguing your opinion and somehow I'm wrong.
Personally, I prefer to be empty handed to lay low and let the killer decide in the lobby to tunnel one of the people with toolboxes instead.
Do you go clear a boss fight in a videogame with empty gear slots? No? It's not an opinion. Anything is better than an empty gear slot, same thing here.
-
@DeBecker said:
with how matchmaking works there is literally no point in bringing items as they make no difference as long as your mates have no gamesense.
Having that self-defeating attitude when queueing solo isn't going to help the overall experience.

@AmpersandUnderscore said:

But tactically, you want to use a toolbox on the last gen, when it's the hardest to complete. The map is smaller, the killer has only 3 gens to check (or maybe even a 3-gen) and you need to clutch it.
Why would I bring an item for the sole purpose of using it at the wrong time?
After all, doing the first gens faster is what killers on the forums complain about the most as "gen rushing", so why would I ever want to queue up solo and then send the message that "we're here to sweat" by finishing the first gen (which is likely to be done anyway) extra early? Am I trying to "force" the killer to tunnel here? What's the thought process?
If that's your logic then bring a map or literally anything that's heavily abundant. Better that than nothing at all. My point is people keep shooting themselves on the foot by leaving their loadout half empty.
-
There is no reason for anyone here to not bring a simple brown toolbox and use it immediately on a gen at the start of the trial instead of bringing absolutely nothing.
-
I really don't understand why they changed the duration when all they need to do to avoid agressive use is to remove collision while the effect is active.

I mean sure but since I got the kill, it should show as a kill for me, right? It's extremely confusing why the final mori doesn't show up as a kill in the stats website. Just confirmed it shows like this for every match with a final mori. I guess what I'm saying is, it shouldn't be showing as an escape if I killed the character, bot or not, right?
I'm not sure, I'm not even sure if kills count the same as sacrifices. I only know abandon counts as a draw/hatch for the survivor in the situation you mentioned.
-
Pretty sure abandoning counts as a draw, just like the hatch. For that particular survivor, that is.
-
Is this why everyone is just playing S tiers now? Getting pretty boring.
I'd much rather see the extra pallets removed if it means more killer variety.
-
I see no reason to at leat allow a Trapper bot in a custom game considering he already exists in the survive with bots tutorial.
-
Every trial consists of five players, and four of them are survivors, that alone explains why event objectives get completed so quickly.
As for the claim that fewer people are playing survivor, the queue times speak for themselves: survivors get matches in seconds, while killers are left waiting five minutes or more. The numbers don’t lie.
