surely if that's true, countering DH doesn't work 70% of the time because of ping? :)
MFW Killers need to git gud and learn the perfect timing to counter DH but survivors shouldn't have to learn better timing lmao
You have made it extremely clear you're a survivor main and you have absolutely no clue what it's like to face Dead Hard in your matches, so really your opinion on the subject is pretty irrelevant.
No, because bad ping favors killers. Good luck timing a DH against a killer that will randomly hit you from ten feet away, or just outright ignore that you were mid DH at all.
Also, please explain how you think DH can't be countered 70% of the time at the same time it's not working 70% of the time.

I think a lot of people will leave or switch sides if those horrid healing changes make it to live. Good luck finding games as killer as well.
Edit- Not to mention the amount of people that will DC after the update...
Honestly think I might just uninstall if this goes live. It's exhausting trying to squeeze fun out of this game when every time I turn around, BHVR is just bulldozing ahead through a wall of negative feedback to unload some awful new content or meta on us.
Wish I could go back to 2020 DBD.

It's an on demand shield/parry/dodge that with successful timing prevents the loss of a health state in a situation that otherwise would've resulted in the survivor going down. Better?
Yes, the key words being "successful timing". Although even with successful timing, half the time it wouldn't work. If they just fixed that, it would be perfectly fine.

ALL of these suggestion hinge on the idea thats its not only humanly possible but easy and consistent to time a frame perfect, 0.1 second timing.
Lets reduce DH's duration to 0.1 seconds, then see how you feel about it.
DH already doesn't work 70% of the time because of ping, so no.
None of what I suggested even requires that strict of timing. Even if survivors start dropping the pallet, you can still get the hit.

Im genuinely curios how DH was counterable around pallets. everywhere else is completely fair game, but pallets were always lose-lose with DH for the past 5 years.
Time your lunge to hit at the end of the DH
Or lunge while looking up, so they end up wasting the DH and you end up blocking the pallet prompt.
Or follow them through the DH without lunging, and just m1 them and get the pallet out of the way at the same time.

Honestly i have always thought that they should always spawn survivors in pairs, and make gens progress in such a way that, normal speed is 2 survivors, and with only 1 survivor there is a penalty. They actually have it backwards. Generators should be slower when by yourself, encouraging survivors to group up, which makes spreading pressure easier.
...what?
Do you want gens to take 90 seconds with two people working on it, and 5 minutes if someone is doing it solo?

Haven't seen any "anti-fun" arguments. Just people screeching about how they don't know how to deal with it at pallets, so that must mean it's impossible.
I enjoy playing against survivors with DH. It's an extra layer of interaction in a chase, and it's satisfying to correctly read what they're going to do and outplay them. Better than, you know, people just sprint bursting away at the start of every chase, guaranteeing every chase has an extra 15-20 seconds of just holding W after them.

Some games are 100% altruistic healing, so those games would have a zero healing speed nerf.
The Dev update literally says "First, healing will now take 24 seconds by default (previously 16 seconds). This will make each hit more impactful, ensuring that Survivors need to spend longer to heal their wounds".
Read that a few times. It says "EACH hit" and "ensuring that Survivors need to spend longer to heal their wounds". This requires all sources of healing to have their speeds reduced. It's literally the entire point of the healing changes. If the altruistic healing speed nerfs are reverted, then when aren't ensuring survivors need to spend longer to heal their wounds.
If people are healing each other, they're both grouped up, and also not doing gens. There's no reason to make altruistic healing take longer, other than to buff camping.
I don't know why you're quoting BHVR's reasoning as if they don't consistently make the dumbest decisions on Earth.
-
No, sorry, it had high usage rates. That means it has to go.

this is why once upon time, borrow time used to apply to unhooker granting them the endurance status effect. you know... an anti-camp mechanic. the explanation you are given is not any difference then facing an instant down killer camping hooks. This would allow you to save survivors when injured & vs instant down. You definitely argue that a perk that allows you to for go healing is possibility too strong but that is just how camping is currently balanced.
The counter is being good at solo looping and relying less of crutch health-states/body blocking to fix errors. Your describing a skill issue. if 3 people are injured and 1 person get hooked, the killer is meant to be in the advantage and you need recover. its successful killer snowball.
Instant down killers shouldn't be able to camp with their power. The game needs to be accessible and fun to people of average/low skill levels. People shouldn't just be getting deleted from matches on first hook simply because they messed up once in chase, or got screwed by bad RNG.
Also there's such things as Defaced Smiley Pin, which would effectively just allow Legion to get a free kill from hitting everyone with their power once.
-
@ehe said:
Okay bestie, now tell me in great detail the exact actions a killer can take against a dead hard at a pallet. go on, tell me. except it cant be killer specific, because I shouldnt have to play a killer to deny a perk.
Yeah no. pallet+dh is uncounterable BS, play some more killer and you'll know any good DH user is a NIGHTMARE.
-Time your lunge to hit at the end of the DH, since they can't drop the pallet until DH is over.
-Lunge while looking up, so that you don't hit the DH, and likely end up blocking the prompt for them.
- Don't lunge, follow them through the DH and then M1 them to take advantage of the lingering hitbox. You'll probably hit them and get the pallet out of the way at the same time.
Hope this helps. DH is incredibly easy to counter.

Healing speeds are being nerfed, as compensation for the gen kicking regression perks being nerfed into the ground. There will be much much less slowdown from gen regression, and that slowdown time needs to go somewhere. If you don't want healing speeds to be nerfed, then ask BHVR to revert all the gen kicking regression perk nerfs, and ask BHVR to allow 3 gen scenarios to be as powerful as they currently are.
Because wanting gen kicking regression perks to be heavily nerfed, but also wanting for survivors to be able to bypass any sort of slowdown nerf on their side, is absolutely unfair.
Or:
Only nerf self healing while keeping altruistic healing the same.
Also, why are you pretending that gen kicking regression is the only possible form of gen defense? As if we didn't have literally years of gen defense meta that encouraged actually chasing and downing people.

I think if it becomes actual time pressure/limitation rather than coordination issues, it would hit SWF more than solo q.
That doesn't make any sense. Even if coordination wasn't an issue in solo Q (it is), how would it hit SWF more?
It's going to hit SWF hard and annihilate solo Q.

Imagine posting this and not having enough self awareness to realize that the only reason you were hitting so many DH's was because you mindlessly swing into every single survivor that gets into range.
If 0.5 seconds of highly telegraphed, obvious endurance is such a consistent problem for you, I'm sorry, you're being outplayed.

This. The dbd balance team doesnt consider anything accept how high the usage is. The community does a better job coming up with balance ideas than the actual developers of the game. Pain res? balanced af. Nerfed because highest killer usage. Dead hard? Problematic sure, but we dont know how to balance our game so we're just gonna kill it.
all killer regression is getting deleted, meaning the gens are definitely popping. Healing is being extended, so survivor becomes even MORE tedious with more engaging hold m1 gameplay!
Endgame builds are going to become so ungodly popular. The gens are going off anyways, so your endgame perks will too. Noed+rancor+blood warden+no way out is gonna be the new meta or something. and its gonna be boring as #########.
That's really the main thing. Almost anyone can look at these changes and just see the writing on the wall for how incredibly boring matches are going become for both sides.

It is bullying. Straight up, full stop. You are not trying to do your objective. You are not trying to end the game. You are actively going out of your way to make the killer as miserable as humanly possible.
It boggles me that camping and tunneling are considered "scummy", despite them being the killer's objective... but deliberately trying to Head On/Beamer them as many time as possible is just "memeing".
People stunning you with Head On and blinding you with a flashlight is not "bullying" dude, give me a break. To pretend that you're getting "bullied" here is an insult to anyone that ever had to endure real, actual bullying. It's people using some corny build to try to have fun interactions with you in a video game; and by your own admission, isn't even particularly effective.
Camping and tunneling are considered "scummy" because the person getting camped and tunneled, typically just don't get to play the game. You getting stunned and blinded isn't preventing you from playing the game; and I honestly doubt you encounter full groups of people doing this often enough to even justify complaining about it in the first place.
The victim complex is insufferable. Touch grass, for real.

Fun for me is getting downs. When you say "No one wants to commit to a chase", what you mean is I won't leave this gen at 70% completion so you can run me for over a full minute while three other gens pop.
Committing to chases is not fun as killer. It's, as someone on these forums recently put it excellently: "pallet tour extravaganza". It's me being led to chained tiles where I kick pallet after pallet after pallet after pallet. That's not fun for me.
I do find it disturbing you think a double head on bully build with flashlights is just "memeing" around with the killer. I'd honestly rather get gen rushed.
I find it disturbing that you think Head On and flashlights are "bullying". I find the whole victim complex most killer mains have, so tiresome.

That's not what it says and if you'd quell madposting instinct for half a second you'd see that.
Here is the full statement:
"We have thoroughly investigated these reports over the past week. As of yet, there is no evidence we've seen to suggest any personal IP addresses have been leaked. Many of the reports we have received correlate to a crash, which has since been fixed in our last update.
Your safety remains an utmost concern to us.
We will continue to monitor the situation to ensure that everyone can safely enjoy the game, and we encourage anyone who may have information on this or other vulnerabilities to reach out to us."
AS OF YET = they are continuing to investigate
"there is no evidence we've seen to suggest any personal IP addresses have been leaked" = they cannot find any IP leakages in the game itself. This is all they CAN say, because the game itself is the only thing they'd be able to investigate!
They say that they received many reports that were actually related to the crashing issue, but people erroneously thought they may be related to the DDOS attacks. MANY and ALL are not the same words and do not have the same meaning.
Again reiterating that they're monitoring the situation and encouraging people to continue reporting issues they face.
None of it is dismissal. It's an honest update stating that they fixed one issue, could not find the source of another, and are still monitoring the problem.
Counterpoint: it's a poorly worded tweet that overtly makes it sound dismissal of people's experiences of getting DDoS'd.

It really doesn't take a genius to immediately spot something problematic. This idea that "you just haven't waited long enough to be sure" needs to stop being an excuse for the developers' utter lack of competence, especially when it comes to this abomination of a killer.
These changes did next to nothing to stop her 3 gen camp strat. Back to the drawing board I guess.
What do you mean "back to the drawing board"? BHVR's job is already done. They did the same kind of balance pass they always do whenever they release a disaster of a killer, where they inadvertently buff what they were already good at and make them unbearable to play against; and that's how they'll stay for the foreseeable future.

Who "confirmed" this and how did they do so? You can't just say "confirmed" and have that be true. "Some guy who claimed to work at BHVR several years ago that I took at 100% face value" is not a reliable source.
Everyone forgets that BHVR DID implement several security updates last year that did seem to stop a great number of problems.
There are many ways for people to accidentally reveal their IP address. We can't discount all of them just because it's easier.
Also, because this is driving me crazy: BHVR did not say people were NOT getting DDOS'd. They said they couldn't find a leak in the game. Big difference.
I assumed it was confirmed by the people getting DDoS'd while playing on platforms outside of Steam. Sorry, I mean "crashed".
It's cool how using a VPN keeps you from "crashing" though. I wonder what a VPN does that lets it do that?

The thing is if you play for fun and not try then 9/10 you get 5 minute games with a couple of chases that involves breaking pallets and following the survivor to the next loop. Killers are doing whatever it takes at this point to extend matches so they can get more then 2 chases in before all 5 gens are done. Now some are taking that to the extreme and that's also not ok.
The other day I was thinking and it's been 5 chapters since the last time there was some kind of gen defence perk add but the last 4 chapters have had some kind of gen speed perks added. There is also the fact that the current gen kick meta isn't that string on non mobile killer unless you hold a 3 gen because it takes to much time to walk around and kick gens all over the map.
Hot take: the game shouldn't have gen defense perks, or ways to increase gen speed (besides doubling up with other survivors).

Ever consider that maybe it isn't fixable? To not have IP addresses shared between game players, everything would have to be run server-side, and I doubt that will happen. Further, isn't it a bug with steam that they can get the IP from them? At least, that is my understanding that the IP is looked up on steam,
No, I won't consider that it isn't fixable; because to my knowledge, this is the only online multiplayer game where this is even a major consistent issue. For it to be unfixable would speak to a level of ineptitude that seems outlandish even for BHVR. If it were unfixable, maybe they should stop trotting out statements on Twitter about how "they're investigating it", if they have no intention of fixing it.
It can also happen on every platform, so it isn't an issue with Steam specifically.
People shouldn't have to constantly have a VPN going to avoid having their internet knocked out for playing DBD.

League of Legends/DotA established the 1/1/1/2 lane system, rocket league gets dominated by people able to do aireals, rainbow six siege went from a defensive turtle tactic for defenders to aggressive breaking down walls for additional LoS and lurking, and so on...
It's the natural progression for any pvp game and people can call DBD a "party game" until they turn blue, it will always remain a two sided pvp game.
Not a free for all, not a real coop ..... nothing but two sides combating each other.
None of the games you listed are asymmetrical party games that were outright designed wrong, where one side or the other can make matches an unbearably boring slog to get through.

Your fun may differ from the other 4 players in the match.
If what you say is true and the matches are exhausting, then why continue to play dbd and not just another game to take a little break?
Trust me as i speak from experience, it really helps
I don't think we would be seeing so many players and content creators talking about how the game's in the worst state it's ever been in and how they want to quit the game, if 3 gen camping, camping, tunneling, loop denial, hiding and gen rushing, etc., were things most people enjoyed playing against.

Then it would ultimately be better for survivors if we got rid of it, right?
I see it multiple times every match. Those survivors who do run it must just be confused, then, since the other exhaustion perks are so much stronger and completely uncounterable, and it would be better for them if they were forced to use other exhaustion perks.
Every survivor main on the forums seems to be in agreement on this: other exhaustion perks are so much better and DH is completely counterable in every circumstance.
Why don't we just nerf Dead Hard into the ground and make everyone happy?
No, because it's fun to use and try to get value out of. Contrary to what most of the people in this awful community seem to think, the game should actually be fun to play.

DH is literally the most used perk in the game. Weird that so many survivors use a perk that is so much weaker than its alternatives.
And DH definitely is a second chance. It cannot give you any value as long as the killer doesn't get in a position to down you (a position where you lost the chase). If that doesn't qualify as a second chance I don't know what does.
It's the most used perk because:
- Unlike killers, who all have unique powers that benefit from different builds, all survivors have the same abilities.
- It's the only exhaustion perk that's fun to use. It's the only one with some element of interaction with the killer. Most of the others simply activate and you just zoom away. The exception being Head On, which is virtually impossible to get use out of in solo queue, and get more than one use out of in a match.
- It's the only exhaustion perk that's mildly useful against Nurse, Spirit, and Blight.
90% of the time, survivors would get more value out of something like Sprint Burst or Lithe. Those aren't fun to use, though. It isn't fun to immediately zoom away from the killer, likely ending the chase before it even started.
It's not a second chance if you're making plays based around having it.

Yes, the current killer meta is boring and getting tunneled isn't that fun for most people. But that in itself didn't really change anything on the survivor side, it just made some killer players boosted.
Some people always played this way.
It didn't start to feel like the vast majority of matches until recently.

How much time has passed and people still ignore that dead hard CAN'T BE BAITED NEAR PALLETS...
I literally did not say "just bait it out".
You can time your lunge to hit at the end of the DH. Or lunge through the pallet while looking up so that you don't hit them, and likely end up blocking the prompt. Or you can follow them through the DH without lunging, do a basic M1 and take advantage of the lingering hitbox.
And if none of that works, well, sorry there was a very small chance you couldn't do anything about it. Be thankful it wasn't any of the other exhaustion perks that you literally can't do anything about.

They crank gens and leave because that's literally their win condition.
It's been the win condition for the past seven years. It didn't become such an issue until the meta shakeup and everyone becoming brain poisoned to play as optimally as humanly possible.

Dead Hard isn't a second chance. It's an exhaustion perk that you can easily outplay (unlike virtually every other exhaustion perk).
