You wouldn’t regulate it. If survivors wanted to have fun they would use proxy chat. Sweat lords would still use discord. Banning Discord would be impossible anyways. You could use a phone or another computer.
I mean, my fun stops when people call me slurs, so no, I do not want proxy chat or people blasting music in my ear. Not to mention I don’t speak Spanish, and I get matched with many people who speak only Spanish.
People always refute and say then turn it off, then we are right back where we started in terms of balance.

Blight makes me so nauseous I find it near impossible to play him, which is funny because I don’t get motion sickness like at all otherwise, not even IRL.
Also, speaking of sensory things, I find that bubba’s blep sound that plays when his charges are full makes me feel sort of ill, I can’t even watch a stream of someone playing bubba. I can’t explain it.

Started to play a little bit again..
first main: David / Billycurrent main: Vitorrio / Huntress
fav map: Coal tower
fav perk: Floods of Rage / Bond (pls make it basekit bhvr)
fav item: Sabo toolbox

Game never recovered after changing survivor movement animations, it marked the beginning. It just keeps getting worse and worse. I miss goofy pre-MMR DBD.

Did you like it better?
Was it just a free-for-all? Any skill levels just thrown together based on region?
Mixed feelings. I feel like the more time MMR has been in the game I do have less fun, but it’s hard to say if it’s because of mmr itself or the actual community mindset has completely shifted in the last 5-6ish years. Ranked mode was definitely more chaotic as others have said. Rank has generally always meant how much time you basically spent playing though, so after rank reset I’d just find myself back to 1 within a day or two (both roles, not to brag), just like back when I played daily/regularly I’d just end up at iri I in a week or two. Red ranks were just so mixed in quality of people you matched with, more so than now.
Rose tinted glasses says yes, it was more fun, but rational me thinks I just miss not being burnt out of the game and when the game looked like it did before all the reworks. Lol.

It's not that the post is about mass exodus or anything happened, but rather we had a time survivor que literally takes like a dozen minutes and more
Sure, I had my fair share of 10 minute waits for survivor games in the evening, but that’s not reeeeallly the full picture either. SBMM changed queue times vastly because it disregards mmr for queue times, and allowed for more wiggle room than RBMM generally did, and once SBMM came out I personally found queues to be much much quicker on both sides, and this was still in DH era (COH came out what, 3 ish months after SBMM?). We have never had official stats on killer:survivor ratios either pre-mmr or post-mmr, that I know of, so it’s really just hard to say. I do think people are playing killer more, but I think it’s just because people are playing the game more now in general than those days.
But also, the person I was replying to said killers left en masse. So I was responding directly to that.

It has never happened in the history of DBD. But the opposite has already happenend many times during the dead hard and circle of healing meta.
Except we’ve never actually seen proof of this “mass exodus”:besides anecdotal videos and posts saying it happened. I am not saying people haven’t left because of the perks either, but I think people vastly overestimate that number.
-
Has not changed the way I play at all, tbh, but in general, it’s definitely changed my perception of the dbd community as a whole (for the worse). That said, my views on annoying perks typically align and I don’t run perks I find annoying - ie old eruption, sprint burst, etc, but it’s definitely not because of posts from here.
-
one time, long long ago, when I was doing adepts, I got to ghostface.this was when it was based on pips, not kills. This was Hawkins, so good stealth map. I was either gold already or iri, and I was on Hawkins. Someone gave up on first hook, and then someone else gave up too. I knew I wasn’t getting enough of the emblems so I fake farmed with the remaining two for the next 8 minutes or so minutes and I killed them both, and I feel so terrible about it to this day and I really hope I didn’t scar them.
similarly, when I did evil incarnate, they brought 4 anniversary cakes, it was direcetly the week I think after the 5th anniversary, and they were clearly newer, and I just took what I could and did it. I even sinned against myself because I let people who drop their lunch boxes or beamers go thru the gate and this poor poor Leon.. I’m so sorry. Everyone had 1k-4k points. Except me.
I once tried to bodyblock for this Nancy that was getting tunneled and I sandbagged her so bad, worse than I ever accidentally sandbagged anyone before, by completely blocking the exit of the structure she was at, and I kept doing that thing where in real life you walk the same direction to get out of the incoming persons way, then you both move the same direction again. When nemesis came out, the first match I had a Leon give me his flash bang. Me thinking it was the vaccine gave it to a teammate to use cause he was infected, as I ran away, I saw the flash bang detonate and him blinded and they dc’ed.

If your build is comprised of four aura reading perks
A) It'll still take four Distortions to actually disable them, not one.
B) You're going to burn through those Distortion tokens
and
C) You're not playing for keeps to begin with. Your meme build does not warrant nerfing Distortion.
huntress main here who only runs 4 aura perks. I agree with your sentiment but imo I just don’t agree I’d consider it a meme build. It’s just a nice feel good chill build to chug some hatchets. Distortion is mildly annoying but definitely not enough to nerf it. I don’t NEED the auras, but I like them.
The whole distortion debate is like calling for something like ds to get nerfed yet again, when if I pick up a survivor I know recently got hooked, I accept the risk of getting hit by it. I accept the risk of distortions when loading into a match, whether or not it counters part of my build or all of it. 🤷♂️

I haven't loaded DbD in about a month. Some things I've noticed after fully dropping DbD and playing other multiplayer games:
- The game isn't supposed to piss you off. That's not a feature.
- The amount of bugs in DbD are absolutely not normal.
- There is absolutely no sense of progression or meaning to the trials as a veteran player.
- DbD could really do better in terms of respecting a player's time. I know this is comparing apples and oranges and they're two totally different games in two totally different genres, but FF14 is really good about this. I can get a lot done if I just want to hop on for an hour, or I can spend a few hours doing more difficult stuff. But at no point does the equivalent of bleeding out for 4 minutes, slugging for a 4k, absolute waste of time matchmaking, etc., happen.
I had not loaded up the game since singularity last year, and started playing again a couple months ago. While I didn’t play other games (I’m not really a gamer),, and didn’t look at the forums or Reddit, I did notice a lot of mood improvements because I was massively burnt out, and it really put a lot into perspective. I definitely agree with all of this, especially #3 and #4. After the prestige system rework, I found myself twiddling my thumbs between chapters because everyone just auto jumped to prestige 3+ and unlocked everything. I was leveling Vitorrio and huntress but I had enough addons to last me months without even spending points. I was winning almost every killer match, regardless of killer, and I was getting bored because of matchmaking, even if things made me rage (especially my survivor games) and I just said to myself that this game is really giving me nothing, no reason to win, no reason to keep playing, etc. The outcome of the match never really mattered to me, but if I’m constantly dominating teams, I’m not being challenged and I’m certainly not growing, and I hated that.
But coming back to the game after a so long, I started having fun again. I definitely don’t drop 9 hours after work every day anymore, probably won’t again. Games better in small doses, anyways. -

Apologies... I've re-read 4 times and I'm failing to understand what you mean if you wouldn't mind helping me... I think a word is typo'd there, but Im not sure which one 😅
The OP talks about DCing to deny a survivor achievement. If you haven't injured a player on Disturbed Ward, (such as say you've been looped for 5 gens), you can DC to prevent anyone from getting the achievement.
I don't know if you were questioning my post, but if you were, I hope that answers it? 😅
If it was a statement, I probably agree... but I'm.not sure 😁
sorry! I have Covid and I was so groggy this morning and tbh I forgot I even posted. But what I meant is, when you load in on disturbed ward, are you just doing nothing? By definition, the moment you injure someone on that map, you are denying the chance for them to get haemophobia, since you said denying them that achievement is being a dirtbag. That’s sort of what I was trying to get at. My apologies if I misunderstood your original post too!

I feel no obligation to throw the game for your achievement. It's an achievement for a reason, because you should actually earn it.
Besides, what's to stop every Myers player from acting like they are going for the achievement to get people to hand them a win.. even if they already have the achievement. It sounds pretty entitled if you're expecting that tombstone Myers should be a guaranteed 4k just because they might need the achievement.
Yep this, every last word. I don’t know if you have it already, so why would I just hand it to you? I also think it’s just entitled to expect going into a match that the survivors will cooperate and think “oh double iri? Gotta let him get this achievement!”. Nah dude. I did it once and then I looked at their profile and they had already gotten it. And then I looked on the dbd stats site cause and they did it several times already. Nah.
@UndeddJester said:
I'd give it a 8 I guess.
Sad, pathetic, annoying, however not the worst thing you can do. Though denying Evil Incarnate or Haemophobia/RPD is a special level of dirtbag.
I'd probably reserve 10 for targetted harassment based on someone's real world persona, e.g. racially driven, targetting their sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, etc, etc.
I'd probably reserve 1 for survivors who genuinely risk their lives to boop the snoot of the Pig who had a hard game, and killers who let survivors go after an immediate suicide on hook and play something like red light/green light at gate.
Don’t know how you can deny haemophobia without injuring anyone any time you go on disturbed ward.

"Oh no, the killer uses 2 perks to get sub par information. How horrible."
Seriously, it's only info. Info that needs to be set up by a M1 on a survivor with an item (otherwise, you can immediately pick up the item again, since the downside is not that big of a deal) and only works around the spot where you hit them. All of this at the cost of 2 perk slots. I feel like we're back to complaining about perks just to complain about perks.
I am going to play devils advocate here, and I’m genuinely curious and I’m not trying to bait, because I really haven’t had enough experience playing against it or with it, but if it’s subpar information then why are people running the combo? If it’s that weak of a combo, then it wouldn’t be replacing two more useful perks, no?

I wonder if every player that uses the 'it's a 4v1' idea to prove the game is survivor sided realises that if Bhvr ever remove even one survivor for the team (3v1 base), Killers would have like 95% winrate.
Something something bhvr would never do that because they cater to only the cash cow survivors because they make the most money by selling cosmetics cause there’s four of them and only one killer or something /s

If "GG WP" isn't intended as a taunt then why do I ONLY ever see it when I lose? And lose hard at that.
Noone ever says this in a match I win, and that's all the proof I need that people are not being forthcoming about their intentions here.
I’m going to play devils advocate here, and mention this is usually not the case for me because I do often get it whether I win or lose on both sides, usually it’s just silence, but as a survivor unless I’m in a swf I’m not sticking around to see the rest of the game, ie if I get killed first, second or third unless I really want to see your build, so if I am not in the lobby, I can’t say ggs. If messages could persist during the match to after so killers could see them I’d probably say ggs.
@NerfDHalready said:
is saying gg as the winner wrong? no. but i don't say gg after a stomp, whoever won that match cuz it was not a good game.
I do agree with this, I usually don’t type anything if it’s a stomp unless the other side says it. Like, the other day I had a lobby full of literally new players, dude said he had 8 hours total in the game, and I felt so bad during the match and I let one of them have the hatch, I kept apologizing and they said ggs still and it still felt bad.

Every other game I play has community challenges that everyone contributes to at all times with no limitations. Not only does DbD require you to select the challenge, but the limitation per player is ridiculously low. Other games, I feel like I'm working with the community towards the goal; in DbD, I don't feel any sense of community, I just did my few and now I can't contribute anymore and I'm just waiting. Because of this, I feel negatively towards community challenges in DbD: I'd prefer no community challenges whatsoever.
I feel like this is partially why I kinda hate event tomes, at least for the anniversary. Before the community challenges were like selectable, it was just sort of passive. At least that’s how I remember it being. I also feel like the event store makes it feel a bit more complex with unlocking things, I just miss going around playing every character and get the pedestals to unlock the halos, tbh. Simple, and I liked how it forced you to go outside playing your mains to unlock things. Idk.

That's just a visual bug. For some reason their BP are displayed with the modifyers applied already (at least partially). I had that happen a few games ago and it said I got about 110k BP but with all the cakes it was still only 150k, so there was no way actually got 110k BP base.
yeah visual but makes sense, I was playing yesterday and when I was getting like 120k with 5 cakes I was really scratching my head on why I felt like I wasn’t getting the gains I thought I’d be. I was really out of it yesterday 😅
-
I don't really know what gave you the idea that this was going to be anything other than a bug fix patch, but things like that happen in PTBs and/or midchapter patches, as they always have.
-
I have all of them except hitting people in basement and special items one. I’m a few away from the basement, and not even close to the special items one. I simply don’t like the basement as a concept, and typically avoid it and I don’t go back to hook, and I don’t really play killers with special items and don’t usually see flash bangs too much.
-
I don’t think a lot of the, are bad, but it’s just that to make a lot of them work well it requires coordination with other people. Breakdown is prime example. Unless it’s late game this perk sort of dows nothing unless your team also has it or are doin sabo things. The aura reading is nice but mostly unneeded. But some things are sorta just throwing if you bring them. Deception is fun ya, and weaving spiders MIGHT be gamechanging for but most matches I’d argue you are better off bringing any other perk.
alert is fine, but I think the more useful perk is any means necessary. While it doesn’t proc on gen kicks, etc, I think the aura reading on the pallets is much more useful, and when you see a pallet disappear it’s more valuable information.
And lastly, I really think most of these perks just need flat out buffs. Bite the bullet could be better, and I feel like it’d be more interesting if it hid both you and the others auras in addition to masking the sound, botany got overnerfed imo and should also work on yourself, solidarity and reactive healing are so incredibly situational and frustrating to get value of (mostly solidarity) in solo queue. Just my two cents tho. -
If people have been trying the sabo stuff I start slugging and almost each of the teams have crumbled, personally 🤷♂️

Well, Otz usually supports everything the devs do, whatever it might be, he even supports that 60% target killrate ridiculousness. If even someone who is always in favor of the devs' actions is concerned, it really might tell something.
that’s… like… not even close to being remotely true. Have you even watched Otz talk about the game? A quick look at his discord channel where he gives quick thoughts and opinions on patch notes even shows that he constantly has concerns about stuff and critical of things. -
It's not the devs job to play at the highest level, in any game, period, end of story.
DBD devs are NOT going to spend 8 hours developing a game, then play the game for another 8 every night after work to grind to the highest level of every killer, and survivor. Just saying.
-
As a rule of thumb, the first week or two after a killer goes out you are going to see a disproportionate amount of them as people want to play as and learn them. So if you don’t want to go against them, you need to stop playing survivor for a bit, or play killer. Be 5e change you want to see :)
The only exception to this was Wesker, I think (also, I was not around for unknown, alien or chunky as I was on a long break). -
I'm not a survivor main™, but I play 50/50 essentially overall, but the ratio is dependent on my mood for the day but I'm more biased (meaning, more experience playing as) towards killer. I agree with Pulsar here 10000%.
At the end of the day, I want to feel like regardless of the killer, their addons, and perks, that me (and my team) had a fair shot. Going against c33-alch ring blight didn't feel fair, neither did ruin + OG undying, OG eruption, starstruck nurse, double range nurse, various aspects of spirit and her addons over the years, etc etc.
I mean, part of this is matchmaking too, no? I consider myself painfully average survivor, or on a good day a little above average - I'm much better at macro vs micro survivor gameplay, if that makes sense. But if the rest of my team I'm being matched with can't figure out how to force a nurse into a 50/50 and break LOS and switch up their jukes, split up if it's a legion (or even worse, wasting time and HEAL every single time), get the pinhead box, etc, the match is hopeless regardless of the killer and their addons.
The inverse goes to me in regards to survivors when I play killer too, btw. That said, I very seldomly think a lot of complaints from killers on reddit/here/steam forums are valid and often times overblown.
-
Not a survivor main and play both sides essentially 50/50 (if not slightly more killer) but he’s one of the killers I sorta don’t like to play or face because of auditory sensory things, his cough and the bottle smashing make me feel ill. Not the only killer, btw, like I can’t play bubba because of his recharge notification sound, or have the audio on in the menu with slinger cause of the mouth noises.
But also echoing the pre dropping and run play style super is super boring -

Smurfs were a lot more common with RBMM, it’s a lot harder to smurf now imo. I think people don’t realize how hard it is to actually derank in this game, though. It’d take days upon days and then some with constant losing to actually do so, because mmr drops so slow.
though, my favorite accusations is that people like tofu derank off stream. Like, have you ever actually heard tofu talk about how upset he is at matchmaking and how unfun and unfair it is to both sides? Also, tofu and otz and etc rest play dbd for a job, they really probably aren’t playing offline unless it’s for a video. It’s like if you just continued to worked after you got off. -

All achievements are based on luck to some degree.
All achievements can be grinded out eventually too.I don’t disagree with your replies here in the thread, my main issue is having an achievement that requires a specific killer being played. Every other achievement up to this point you have essentially direct control over except this luck or not (I’m including generator repair ones, btw, because map offerings), except the survivor version of the achievement.

What might help is bringing back alternative 'win' conditions, IE: the BP bonuses of WGLF and BBQ. Those allowed survivors to 'win' in a 4k, and killers to 'win' in a 4E.
I think these should just be basekit and not locked back into the perk, especially wglaf, and call me a pessimist, but I never bought arguments that wglaf or bbq really made a difference in the competitiveness of the game - ie the strategy for killers still was tunnel out one survivor early even with bbq to try to secure a easy win, so I personally don’t think these would make things less or more competitive. I don’t doubt some people used them as win conditions, but I don’t think that mentality was as widespread as people think.
-
Yeah, I have played two matches of the base game for specific tome challenges and went quickly back to chaos shuffle. I honestly am really dreading going back to the base game. It’s literally so much more fun on both sides, and I really like not dealing with the same meta every single match (both sides). After nearly 3k hours in this game, I haven’t actually had this much fun since the 1.5hr mark and getting all achievements a couple years ago.
Normally I look forward to new chapter drops and doing the achievements but I really sorta don’t want to play for a while after this goes away to get back into the mindset I need for the base game… -
I play solo q because my friends stopped playing except for a single match here or there, and my partner stopped playing. I’m the only one of the group that ever took this game seriously though, so even when we had a group, it was just us messing around. But now after playing solo q for so long I kinda prefer it cause I like solitude and silence, lol.

i feel like survivors choosing to DC shouldn't be a reason to hate on a killer, whether you dislike her or not, in that aspect, its you whos making the decision to leave, not the Skull Merchant
I disagree, if something have people in my matches consistently give up when playing against a killer, perk, add on, whatever, I think it’s completely fair to dread going against that killer, peek, addon, whatever. It’s precisely the reason why I really hate playing with say, and never run, iri hatchet, because regardless of the addons strength post nerf people still dc against it my matches constantly. A 3v1 or 2v1 or 1v1 at 5 gens at the start of the match is a match not worth my time, nor is it very fun for anyone involved. So, I find it unfun to play against the killer if my team gives up trying immediately learning it’s a SM.
-
I took roughly a year break shortly after singularity and really only started playing more and I find her unfun almost exclusively because my team still gives up or stops trying what feels like 90% of the time. But also, and this is entirely on me, I still have it nailed in my head how she used to work, and I kind of don’t really understand her power or counterplay anymore, and I feel like I haven’t been given a good opportunity to figure it out myself (which is entirely how I learn thins, and I can’t just read to understand) because of my team giving up, which also probably is a part of why too. 🤷♂️
-
Use iri queen and you will get it. Just don’t hover over a hook or something to be the 48 meters or whatever. Edit : perhaps we may all be talking different challenges?
-
One of my favorite survivor builds is inner strength, lucky break, quick and quiet and overcome. It typically works pretty well, I usually have a good success rate with it.
@MrDardon said:
I wouldn't mind if they gave Inner Strength the Overzealous/Clairvoyance treatment by making it activate on blessing as well.
Then you could maybe increase the healing time to like 12 seconds since you could then use it as much as you want which will make Inner Strength quite popular.
Shattered Hope will then also see some more use again, (besides the fact that it needs a rework or buff anyways.) as people will combine Inner Strength with a Boon of choice.
I like this idea of allowing it on blessings too because that way more than one person can realistically run it. However, maybe a limit of how many times an individual can use it though?
-
I got rpd 6 times this afternoon in a row. It doesn't differentiate different maps in the realms I don't think so I got east, west, east, west, east, west. I've been wanting a feature like this for years because often times I just mess around on survivor and killer with random builds and try to get value. This has been no different, however my survivor games killers have been playing like their life is on the line, so to me survivor hasn't really been fun.. however my games as killer have been pretty chill and I'm having a blast. It's been funny seeing everyone try to get value out of their random perks.
Edit: I also wish offerings and items/addons were randomized too.

A few years ago I exclusively only played Billy pretty much, but I got so massively burnt out of him because I’d wake up, play him for most of the day, sleep. and haven’t touched him since then except for a daily or two.
I main Huntress, and coming back from my break, it’s been so fun getting adjusted back with her. I love her skill floor and ceiling, and feels like I always have something to improve on and work towards. That said, I used to also enjoy playing Slinger too but coming back from my break I wasn’t really finding him as fun.
edit: been having fun with the unknown too. Also, I’ve put a lot of time into Wraith too. -
Can confirm I have never ever gotten a newsletter bp code as well, which is why I signed up.

FWIW my mind doesn't automatically go to cheaters and I think it's a bug because this has happened on/off for me since I started playing the game (2020) where I get to the end game (as either survivor or killer) and one or two persons slots are empty.

I'll go against the grain and say I love flashlight squads. I get so many downs and kills cause of altruism it's not even funny.
But the worst survivors are stealth survivors. One time I went against a duo of two stealthy survivors who would touch gens for a few seconds and hide. Took me, no joke, 40 minutes until they ######### up and I found them. I've had some matches where all 4 were stealthy too, and that started making me want to tear my hair out.
Killers, I just really dislike killers that don't have fun chase potential- for instance, (non-chase addon) hag is I think the most boring killer to play against and it's not even close. Or powers I find incredibly frustrating to go against (like pinhead, but mostly with his passive power and no one seems to ever get the damn box besides me)

People often bring up vc as the solution to balancing around swf but always fail to forget this wouldn’t be able to work on switch, who cannot have vc. There are language barriers, too. So by design this would have to be optional, and you can’t balance around it.
Plus, yeah, I don’t get why people would want to vc on this game anyways, this community is rough. People are petty over the tiniest things (as you mentioned!)
