I'm not sure about it, but I think that when you play a killer for first time you don't start in the lowest MMR. I think that you get squads with random MMR until you are "positioned" in your deserved MMR.

This is correct, and if you are at a certain MMR on one killer, you have a baseline MMR on others to separate you from newer players.

I once reported a cheater and I got baned because his nickname was visible in the evidence. That made absolutely no sense

Unless you posted this on the forums or reddit (unofficial reddit btw, just the same rule about not naming names publicly) and got banned from the forum/reddit, I find this highly unlikely and I don't think I believe you.

The only one I hate out of those is the Coop op one. It just sucks as a soloq player. Last time I was doing one of these I had about 5 seconds left. I kept following this survivor and jumping on a gen with him and every time I did he would walk off. He sure didn't want to do a gen with me.

I only hate the green glyphs as survivor so I always leave them for when I play killer. So easy then.

It took me 8 matches to get it yesterday because people REFUSED to work with me. I'd get on a gen with someone, they'd leave, I'd start healing with another person they'd leave, it was like pulling teeth to actually get it. I understand splitting up is great and the best thing to do but like, cmon lol

Yes, it seems to be worse now than it has been in a while. Especially during peak times.

I am not a programming expert but is it really that difficult to put something into the game that detects when somebody is doing something they shouldn’t be able to do, like a survivor or killer running as a certain speed, or a survivor unhooking themself on 2nd hook state (which happened to me yesterday)?

It’s super frustrating that the devs have put the burden on rooting out cheating on the players. Are most other games the same way?

In regards to the programming stuff - they are starting to slowly do stuff like that (ie in the patch notes recently they are preventing hackers from using characters they don't own) ie server side validation, but I imagine all this is just tedious work that takes a while to do after the fact, especially with legacy code.

  • To be honest I haven't seen an obvious hacker in a really long time. I've suspected subtle hackers, but it's not like.. often at all and haven't suspected anyone of cheating in quite some time. That being said, if I'm tabbed into the game inside the lobby I do check steam profiles and typically dodge low hour players (not because I suspect smurfs or hacking it's because I don't like going against players with less than 1k hours because are usually babies and that's boring) if they have hours visisble or players with game bans/vac bans.

    The Game: Pallet-town (50/50)

Suffocation Pit: I don't get that one, it's survivor-sided but only a little.

Azarov’s Resting Place: just... how? I am legitimately confused here.

Midwich Elementary School: Honestly, don't run in the main hallway and your are A-OKAY, there's a safe window everywhere unless killer waste 3 gens worth of breaking walls.

Grave of Glenvale: I'll grant you that one but main building is absolutely unplayable.

Shelter Woods: Just ... no. I won't bother explain, just no. That's 100% survivors biaised in so many ways.

    Wrecker’s Yard: Pallet-town, yet again. (50/50)

Next you'll tell me infirmary is killer sided? maybe not but that would be the next logical step.

Azarov’s Resting Place: just how? I am legitimately confused here.

Genuinely wondering why you don't think that. This is like THE killer map in the game. It's incredibly easy for them to 4 gen either on purpose, or accidentally, especially if they don't do the middle gen.

Shelter Woods: Just no. I won't bother explain, just no. That's 100% survivors biaised in so many ways.

Same here, I am genuinely confused on how this is survivor sided. Even with the rework so it just doesn't have 5 pallets anymore, the main building just.. made most of the other loops unsafe and created even more dead zones where safer structures used to be able to be spawned.

Midwich Elementary School: Honestly, don't run in the main hallway and your are A-OKAY, there's a safe window everywhere unless killer waste 3 gens worth of breaking walls.

Once you break the breakable walls the map in general starts becoming unsafe tho. TBH if you aren't breaking those walls, that is on you, it's a pretty killer sided map. Whether breakable walls should exist or be a thing is a completely different discussion though.

  • Twins and hag and I'm not complaining about it.

  • I don't really care, I just play the game, I don't change my builds if I notice it's a swf, but I starting thinking of how I change my strategies if I lose. SWF in the grand scheme of things really mean nothing anyways because most are just trying to play with their buddies and are way too altruistic and just end up dead from it.

True. But the same thing is true when 2-3 gens get done before the killer can get a down.

The early game almost always decides who wins and it sucks because you're left feeling helpless and with little hope for a comeback.

I'm not entirely sure how they'd fix this, other than maybe disincentivising tunneling and incentivising spreading hooks though.

To be honest a lot of my killer games are like this but usually starts to snowball around 2-3 gens left once I start getting more pressure. It's definitely not equivalent to a survivor getting tunneled out and a 3v1 at any gens left.

  • @dbd900bach said:

The issue with unbreakable is that it doesn't guarantee value in every single match. Dead hard was so good because it had minimalistic requirements but major value in offering a free second chance to extend chases.

Unbreakable doesn't do that and requires you to be slugged in order to work. Sometimes you'll run into a killer slugging, or will just end up in a situation where you're all slugged in which yes it works, but that doesn't always happen. Most times you're picked up instantly which negates the perk entirely.

If you look back at the old meta before the shift last year - if you ignore DH, it was unbreakable/ds/bt. if the killer wasn't camping or tunnel right off hook, you'd get no value, if the killer didn't tunnel, ds did nothing, if the killer didn't slug unbreakable did nothing. They were meta because the value you'd get from them when they came into play was much greater than the risk of them being dead perks if the killer didn't slug, camp, tunnel, etc.

I personally only really ran bt because I needed a build a bit more.. tangible in value that got consistent value every match, even if that meant I couldn't completely change the course of the match if those things came into play.

To the op, I think I would still consider ub to be part of the meta. I see it still quite often in my matches and it can still be a complete game changer, as it always was.

It's 1 kill average for non-sweaty killers who are below S tier. Don't be surprised about it. That's what killer experience is about right now.

Currently the entire sense of balance is around you getting either complete potatoes or hardcore diehards. Rarely a mix of both. So one game you will win unless you refuse to and another one you will lose regardless of what you do. You can try to resist this but unless you play only same S tier killer with S tier addons on best maps for that killer - 50% hellhole shall be your home.

This is the trend and goal of devs which they have successfully achieved for majority of players.

It's 1 kill average for non-sweaty killers who are below S tier. Don't be surprised about it.

?? So..... where did you pull that number out of? The last official stats for top 5% mmr show a 56% kill rate on trapper, who is the lowest. Nurse being the lowest at 52% otherwise. So seems to me the average is at least a 2k.

Fear Monger + Blood Echo puts a damper on all exhaustion perks, not SB alone. These perks are not sub par in the slightest.

No, they are both very bad perks, and I don't think all exhaustion needs to be dampered either, the only problematic exhaustion perk is sprint burst. Blood echo specifically is a terrible perk, and does nothing if no other survivors are injured when you hook someone. And if the survivors have half a brain cell and they are going to heal ASAP instead of waiting to heal, which they already probably are doing anyways depending on what killer you are playing, so like, 2 killers in the entire roster, or if they are resilience gamers.

  • Why would I do that? I'm not going to run 2 subpar perks to counter a perk, even if I think SB is strong and annoying, which I do.

I would assume FtP and MfT will not work together. I can't confirm this, but I know for a fact that FtP and We're Gonna Live Forever (WGLF) do NOT synergize. FtP is considered using an action ability, NOT a heal, so survivors healed from dying with FtP do not get Endurance from WGLF.

Again, I can't confirm if it truly does or does not synergize, but if it is like WGLF, it will not.

Thats weird, because last time I used FTP/wglaf together it did work, and I know they didn't have soul guard or anything

  • Tunneling isn't always the most efficient way to do your objective though. It just so happens to work like that most of the time. But it can backfire and cause you to fall flat on your head and lose. It only works if you are absolutely smart about it and who you tunnel. Doing gens as quickly as possible really doesn't have that downside, unless you count noed existing, which I don't because people aren't doing all 5 totems and very rarely ever have.

For example, I ran this killer for 3 gens the other day, he tunneled me off hook, then tunneled me again, and then finally got his third and final hook when he downed me at the gates. I don't consider that being "efficient" and I'd say that backfired on him.

That said, agree 100% with that last paragraph.

Edit: Just to clarify, I don't only agree with the last paragraph, I laregly agree with the post, I just disagree whenever people blanket say tunneling is the most efficient thing to do.

  • I think it's more or less fine now with the nerf. I still don't use it though and unless you have an end game build not really worth a perk slot.

  • Yesterday I played survivor (solo) for the first time since the chapter release, because I needed to catch up on tome stuff. I really don't know what was going on with matchmaking at all.

Like you, in the afternoon it's always really good, I get great teammates that can last more than 20 seconds, and do gens. But in the evening it's just a big wildcard and just ends up a terrible unfun experience.

I know I'm not the best survivor in the world, and on top of that I'm very rusty but I was getting people with 100 hours being matched with me while the killers had thousands, compared to the afternoon where it felt like it was completely on par. Bleh.

Also while we're at it raise the cap on killer so I can actually get fun survivors that actually have a chance and so I don't destroy people that clearly have no chance against me :)

yup 6 months that lasted and dead hard lasted how long? how about decisive strike/unbreakable combo?

So does this mean you want them to not change things for 6 years? It did take them a long time to deal with DH and other things, sure, but is them dealing with things sooner than they previously have like they have been trying to do.. not good? I don't really know how to read this other than that.

that was another case of ruin/undying supposedly being op but as soon as boons became viable (old circle of healing) then most survivors didnt see finding totems as opressive and memorized totem spawns ^_^

Original undying was busted, but that's beside the point because this was said by no one ever post-og undying nerf and the ONLY reason ruin was nerfed in 6.1 was strictly due to usage rates to force change the meta.

"No one truly cares how you play!"

They say, knowing the Survivors care and the devs caved and are forcing Killers to play like NPCs to make Survivors happy:

    • Regression nerfed, so the devs cared about Survivors whining that they could not 4-man-escape all the time.
    • Tunneling not allowed, so BT became basekit, and Survivors started abusing it to bodyblock. Now they cry that BT did not fix tunneling, because they weaponized it.
    • Camping is soon not allowed, which will force Killers to 12 hook. And yet genrush perks are not only not even mentioned, but Survivors are getting a new one to replenish their purple toolbox charges after they use BNPs!

I fully expect something to become basekit to counter slugging, too. You know, since Survivors are being told through developer actions they get whatever they want if they yell loudly and long enough.

Oh yeah, and there's the guy claiming Killer regression perks should not stack, because them being nerfed was not enough. They need to be 100% useless.

And here's the thread where someone was saying there should be a perk to 'punish' Killres to hit Survivors on a hook: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3433908

Regression nerfed, so the devs cared about Survivors whining that they could not 4-man-escape all the time.

This is missing context, of course. And not nerfed "that they could not 4-man-escape all the time.". I would really take this point when people try to say it more seriously if they weren't so over-exaggerated and hyperbolic with that. Pop/ruin being nerfed originally was to create a new meta, which became the gen kick meta eventually, and that was nerfed to try to shake up the meta again. Which, also even is lacking the context that survivors meta got changed too.

Personally, I'd argue the gen kick meta was the unhealthiest meta this game has ever had. It was unfun on both sides, and to be honest, good riddance. I don't even think eruption's nerf was even that bad and the aura reading is STRONG still on certain killers.

Tunneling not allowed, so BT became basekit, and Survivors started abusing it to bodyblock. Now they cry that BT did not fix tunneling, because they weaponized it.

If tunneling "wasn't allowed", why is it still able to happen with BT basekit? That was not the point of bt basekit, nor the main benefit and you know it. And the DS nerf specifically was a detriment to anti-tunneling in general and a large deterrent on tunneling back in the day.

Camping is soon not allowed, which will force Killers to 12 hook

Except it still is allowed, you're just going to do it at your own risk. Just like bodyblocking with bt, you are risking being tunneled if you do that. Plus, we don't even know the finer details on how fast this bar will fill up based on distance.

Survivors are getting a new one to replenish their purple toolbox charges after they use BNPs!

They can do that now with built to last, plus I highly doubt this perk goes to live as is. Let's see how this pans out next month before we jump to conclusions since there have been perk changes from ptb to live.

I fully expect something to become basekit to counter slugging, too.

I highly doubt it, at least in the form we had on the ptb last year that tested it.

I feel like these are fringe opinions and not the norm. I mean, all the replies in that post are people saying no.

My point is all of these things are still allowed. If they weren't they'd be made against game rules and completely removed. Whether or not you like how survivors deal with the tactics in game, or "cry" as you put it, that they are unfun, is really up to you.

  • @buffcoyote said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3436657#Comment_3436657

Except they do care. They really, really do. It blows my mind how one can play this game for years, even a few months consistently and say this. Everyone who plays DBD knows camping, tunneling, and 3-genning to a lesser extent have been controversial HOT topics, and both sides are fully aware that they are unhealthy and unfun.

Thankfully for the majority, they will not have to worry as much about the worse aspects of camping anymore after this new system comes in. Perhaps we will even see some people returning. As for the toxic killers that leave because of it? That’s fine.

Note I didn't say they were fun, just valid. I don't even think necessarily they are unhealthy, but I wish they weren't as viable in the game as they are now. I think most (keyword most, there are outliers!) people understand that these are just valid things that can and do happen in the match, find them unfun but just hit next. Keep in mind, people here/twitter/reddit/steam forums/wherever are just a fraction of a fraction of the playerbase.

What I'm sort of more or less trying to say from my post though is I feel like posts like that are often over-exaggerated and people are probably not thinking about that much, and just click next. I think you should constructively criticize tactics you find unfun like those things, on either side, and post them, say, on this forums, but the post I replied to was not that, and is completely reactionary and is just as bad/ridiculous as reactionary posts of the survivors he are trying to mock.

  • @NoHookDC said:

    Killers:

    • Can't Slug (According to Survivors, who demand basekit Unbreakable; Slugging is BM, and anything toxic should be removed! Also, it wastes Survivor's time, and that's just wrong!)
    • Can't tunnel. (It's unfair to knock someone out of the game before THEY decide to leave!)
    • Can't camp/confirm kills.
    • Are expected. Nay, almost FORCED, to 12 hook.
    • Had gen regression perks nerfed.
    • Can't 3-Gen, or it's their fault. Even if Survivors 3-gen themselves; It's the Killer's fault.
    • Should get teleported and stunned if the killer 'BMs' by hitting a Survivor on the hook. Yes, this is easy to abuse, but that's the point.

    Survivors:

    • Get new genrush perks.
    • Can play in a 4-Man SWF that gives them +50 free perks.
    • If they 3-Gen; It's the Killer's fault.
    • Claim the game is 'Basically over' at 5 gens, and expect NoED and other endgame perks to be nerfed accordingly.
    • Seriously; They keep getting genrush perks, yet point to the +10 seconds on each gen as if it was some amazing change.
    • T-bag. (It's not BM! Get thicker skin, Killers! The game should not be changed because you're angry!)
    • Can wait in the exit gates to t-bag. But it's fine to waste Killer time instead of leaving. Also; it's not BM because Killers need to cope. BM only exists if it makes Survivors angry.

No wonder this game is hemorrhaging Killers; We're literally not allowed to win anymore, because literally anything we do is 'toxic'. 🙃

Literally just play the game how you want. No one truly cares if you camp, tunnel, slug, don't 12 hook, 3 gen (with the intent of holding the game hostage), or you hit the survivor on the hook (which who actually is saying killers should get stunned or teleport for hitting on the hook lmao). Most people just shrug it off or get frustrated for the match, vent, and forget about it cause it's not that deep.

There are certainly software/systems that do something against cheaters and you can let them know (Ricochet and Vanguard for example) This is real protection. EAC is a meme security.

This doesn't negate my post like you thought it did. You don't even stop security at anti-cheats, that is arguably one of the worst ways I think you can approach software security. If there is a piece of software, it will inevitably break. You cannot stop every cheater/hacker and there will always be ways to bypass security. There are cheaters in games like Valorant, and you know what happens? The game and the anti cheat both get updated to patch holes. And you know what Riot also doesn't do? Be *specific in their dev notes in what and where they patch*, which is what I was even saying. Whether or not EAC is sufficient is a completely different conversation. Even if DBD started using Vanguard, for instance, you will inevitably see cheaters.

Go ahead and accuse me of white knighting again. As someone who also has hearing problems, i find that astounding.

Secondly, you still haven't answered the question. How EXACTLY does me physically HEARING the survivor to my left, on the other side of a wall and be able to pin point where they are because of that, differ in ANY way, to getting a visual indicator that i "heard" the survivor, on the other side of the wall, to my left?

I just want to say I apologize I came off rude like that, it's just how I read it, and I have been dealing with it a lot lately with people in my life trying to speak over me or for me to do so and I projected it onto you.

Back on topic. But that's not even the point that is being made though. The point of it being that how do you make a system like this that is not overpowered and used outside of accessibility, but not entirely useless to the point of it being "well we got something, hope it helps".

You could have it indicator that there's footsteps, in which I read your other apply to someone who said that and I still don't understand what you're even trying to say with it, because I feel like it implies that you are already hearing something where you might have already missed that sound because not all sounds are equal.

    Your argument is this:

"You are thinking it is going to show exactly where they are all the time, but it only does that, if you already knew where they were from their sounds to begin with. That is how it works."

If we factor in breathing, footsteps, etc in chase - how do we develop a system that can only be used purely for accessibility that does not break chase potential and mind games? Meaning, soft sounds of locker opening/slow vaults, falls, and lowered pain grunts from iron will/no mither, slow vaults, environmental noises, and chase music, what have you, which yeah you could hear as a killer but you might not always hear it or look out for it - as compared to a lullaby or a tr which you will always here. And doing so without making these completely unviable/useless things to do, but also making an accessibility feature that is not useless.

And more importantly, what is your thoughts on how this would even be implemented in the first place. I don't believe you've actually said this, and without any baseline on what you are arguing a system to be like, is me making assumptions, and not even sure what I'm arguing against. Is it sort of how coffeecrashing pictures it?

To me it's the same issue of why the visual terror radius is only for terror radius and lullabies, and not for other sounds. There could be a visual indicator for the wraiths pug noises, or Mikey's breathing, or the hunteesses' noises she makes when winding up and fully winding, but this completely breaks stealth in ways for wraith/mikey, for instance, no, and make it easier to juke hatchets preemptively?

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3430897#Comment_3430897

And yet you fail to describe exactly what the issue is with my statement. How exactly are those different? If i can physically hear a survivor is on the other side of a wall, why can't i also have a visual indicator showing that?

Aven literally said it in their post, which is what I was agreeing to in the first place

"Terror Radius is not directional while Survivor sounds are directional (which is logical, since they are emitted by the Survivor itself). So if you would get directional queues where a Survivor is, it would be a huge buff and every Killer player would just turn it on instantly, because they get a clear indicator of the exact position of the Survivor."

I feel like your post reads as you white knighting, tbh, and I felt like I had to give my two cents that i agree with them, as someone who has perspective, and many of us (we are not a monolith obviously) because you said "But you are thinking about this as a person without a hearing issue."

  • @Reinami said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3430672#Comment_3430672

But you are thinking about this as a person without a hearing issue. If i hear a survivor to my left, i know they are to my left. How is that any different than getting a visual indicator showing that there is a survivor to my left?

Just because you don’t see it happening, doesn’t mean they don’t do anything.

That would be the point. You don’t want hackers to know what they actually did.

This. Opsec. Never identify what you did to patch things out in terms of security, it means nothing to you as a consumer, and everything to the hackers.

You get the point where they teabag AT THE EXITGATE. What means they are save from everything. One the flip side you could say tunneling is the save way to prevent teabags.

You are missing the point where the OP and others including yourself, are trying to justify camping and tunnelling because of these tbags though regardless of where they take place in the match, yes? By the way, in which neither of those things are toxic, and tbags aren't either and people should play however they want.

I stand by what I said, this is a generic bait/us vs them post that has been posted to death on these forums, reddit, twitter, etc, and to be honest they are incredibly tiring and repetitive in which the entire premise of any of these posts are based on a strawman and genericized and hyperbolic survivor (or killer, depending on who is making the bait/us vs them threads) behavior that half of the time I can't tell if people actually care or if they are just looking to rile people up or make themselves mad.

  • I don't have fun on survivor anymore, at all, and haven't in a very long time (months and months) so I only play for dailies or tomes, in which I don't have any currently.

I can't remember the last time I didn't have fun playing killer. Other than when I had to play the knight and SM for her tomes, achievements, anyways. I always have fun on my main.

The game would be healthier without it honestly. Balancing would be better for both sides.

Now I don't expect it to happen because it's already in the game and people will quit because they can't play with their friends which is somewhat understandable.

This game WOULD be dead if swf hadn't been in the game at this point already. So if "healthier" means dead, and it's balanced because it's dead, sure.

not possible solo is never going to be close to the level of swf

Hard disagree. The HUD was a good start. Bond + kindred needs to be basekit and a communication wheel and then you get the majority of information a swf has. It doesn't need to be a 1:1 equivalence.

Why then have BHVR introduced circle of healing for free heals in a known location and then nerfed it whilst SWFs on comms still get this for free?

Why don't the buff to survivors with who is doing what not include distance numbers of how far each one is from the hooked survivor?

Why then if solo survivors are being buffed (and killers not buffed to match) are SWFs never going to be touched?

Could it be that players in a SWF, killer and others don't like their role to be nerfed for actual balance?

Perk nerfs arent swf nerfs and if a perk works better in a swf than solo, that's bad perk design

We literally just got a solo qol of life with the hud. It doesn't bridge the gap completely, so I wouldn't say solo survivor hasn't been touched.

To be honest with you some killers love to blame their losses on things other than themselves and swf is the big target. Swfs are essentially meaningless.
