And you will do nothing about it because it benefits you when people trick their friends into buying it so they can SWF and not have the time they've already put into it go to waste. Thank you for at least not pretending you have any plans to bridge the gap after 6 years of this nonsense.

I don't know why everyone keeps saying this. I got destroyed every game for the first week or two after 6.1.0, and now survivor has 100% BP, no queue, and I escape every other game now that my MMR has had time to adjust.

It's fine. Hell, I'm playing more survivor than ever before.

    Thanks.

Not sure what to do now though. All my progress transfered to my steam account seamlessly (aside from achievements - I'm at 12 now lol), but my PC will only run it with potatoe graphics. Looking into geforcenow or maybe even jumping ship to Xbox and starting over, idk.. it sucks..

Lot of people like to bash Stadia, but it was great for me.. RIP

GeForce Now is awful. Don't even bother. Stadia was actually playable, but GeForce Now's input lag for DBD is so bad that you're going to win half as many games as you are now.

  • @CosmicScarab said:

Hopefully people who purchased Demo on their don't lose him.

I don't think we will. It has cross-progression with Steam, so everything you have on Stadia is automatically linked to your Steam account and vice-versa. Good question to ask.

I'm also assuming that Google is paying for the refunds, not BHVR. I doubt BHVR would have signed a contract requiring them to refund everyone who bought their product if the store closed up shop. Google has the money for that.

  • I was hoping to be the first one to get all of the achievements on Stadia, but I only have until January now.

    I guess it's still possible... I already have 153.

  • Also, I'm really hoping Gylt gets a PC port. That game was legitimately awesome.

Final date is Jan 18th 2023. Not that I cared, but I guess it's a mixed bag for DBD, sad the legit players be losing their progress, yet the countless number of hacker accounts will be gone as well.

Hacker accounts? On Stadia? Do you know how Stadia works?

Also, nobody's losing any progress since Stadia is the one platform that has cross-progression with Steam. The really bad thing about this is that I no longer have a way to play DBD.

I'm a Linux user. My computer ran DBD fine when I was dual-booting Windows, but Windows kept becoming a security risk. The only game that didn't run on Windows anymore was DBD due to EAC, so when BHVR announced that DBD was getting Proton support, I went ahead and deleted my Windows partition in anticipation. That was... what, a year ago? And according to Mandy, we shouldn't get out hopes up anytime soon.

Stadia wasn't so bad. For game streaming, it was blazing fast. I've been averaging an 80% kill rate. A few games on GeForce Now (where input lag is much more severe) and I'm lucky to get 1-2K because I can't hit #########.

I faithfully buy all the DLCs and every rift. I try not to get mad and blame the developers like half the people on this forum every time a minor update doesn't go my way. I've poured thousands of hours of my life into this game, and now I'm not going to get to play it anymore after January.

If it ever gets Proton support, I'll be back, but until then, there are other games to play. VHS is fun, but inferior. White Noise 2 and Horror Legends are awesome, but they don't have a sizable playerbase. Evil Dead was amazing, but they added EAC recently, and now I can't play that game despite buying it for full price on release date (hopefully we get Proton support when the Steam version drops next year).

VHS isn't as great (it's goofy and the killer designs are uninspired), but at least they already support Proton, and it has a playerbase. Reinstalling it now.

This is what I meant to say before : If I chase someone off a generator with Overcharge at 60% progress it will be close enough to zero after 60 seconds that they may as well start a different location. CoB works better if you don't tunnel and Overcharge works better if you do.

"you'd realize that you got more regression out of Brine overall because of its more aggressive starting point"

If you want to kick all the gens and apply pressure to all of them - maybe. But most of the time I am really only worried about three generators. If those never get done then I win.

    I do tunnel.

If all you care about are three gens, you'd be better off going with Brine, because all survivors are going to focus on three gens in (if you set things up right) a very small area. Which means they're tapping gens just as soon as you take a chase. Which means that 10 seconds of 200% regression before they tap it is going to do more for you than 10 seconds of it going from 75-95%. And it will also give you information about which one is being worked on.

Trust me, Brine is great. Give it a try when you can.

-"Overcharge was a terrible perk before its rework, and it's mediocre now (at least on its own). Most survivors will hit the skill check, and if they notice that you have it, a lot of them are going to assume you're running the Brine/Overcharge combo and hug gens, anyway. Doesn't it take like 12 seconds to get to 100% progression and then another 12 before it even makes up for the slower initial progression? Since most gens will get tapped in that time, like you said, you'd probably get more out of Brine just for its initial speed."

Choy made a video with regression perks:

Normal regression takes 5 minutes and 47 seconds to take a 99% Gen back down to 0%

Call Of Brine takes 4 minutes and 46 seconds

Overcharge takes 3 minutes and 3 seconds

Before 90 seconds have passed Overcharge has more regression than CoB.

After 2:30 Overcharge gets the generator down to about 12% while the CoB generator is still close to 50% progress.

At 2:32 the Overcharge+CoB generator is completely stopped. In other words : CoB+Overcharge has only 11% more regression than just Overcharge.

You can find that video here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGtF_5jH8ww

My observation is that people who play like comp teams and can loop with pixel perfect precision often miss overcharge when I push them off a generator. CoB is better if you can't tunnel or slug survivors. But if you can tunnel and slug then Overcharge is the better perk - depending on your ability to pressure.

If I chase someone off a generator with Overcharge at 60% progress it will be close enough to zero that they may as well start a different location.

But the fact of the matter is that coming across a 99%ed gen and keeping someone off of it until it goes all the way to zero isn't something that happens much more often than a Pentimento five-stack (maybe you come across an 80%ed gen once in a while, but that fundamentally changes the math, and good luck keeping survivors off of it). If Overcharge starts at 75% and keeps going until it reaches 200%, it will eventually become more powerful than Brine, but the truth of the matter is that most survivors try to hug gens with any amount of progress as soon as you're gone, meaning that a lot of gens will never even reach 100% regression if you take a chase and more than one person was working on it.

Sure, if you chase them off of a gen just as they're trying to hit the skill check (which is also a relatively rare occurence), they might fail it, but good survivors can hit that check while running, and you maybe get an extra 5%. On top of that, survivors (at least in my experience) only very rarely tap gens when they're within your terror radius, because most understand that doing that repeatedly now results in lots of free regression because kicking gens now damages them. When survivors do this nowadays, I can get an extra 10% off with four kicks plus whatever regressed between taps (which is guaranteed to be at more then 175% regression speed if I'm not running Overcharge alone).

And Overcharge alone sucks balls in a 3-gen situation.

I think that if you did the math, you'd realize that you got more regression out of Brine overall because of its more aggressive starting point. Overcharge might get more regression in sterile laboratory conditions, but in a match, you're better off getting repeated 2.5% kicks plus regression at 200% in between if that's how survivors want to play the game. I've taken gens almost all the way down to zero just doing that.

-"Why would you run Overcharge over Brine?"

Brine won't be in the shrine for like 6 months. Also overcharge as I said can trigger zombies to come to the gen. People often tap a gen in chase and miss the check even if they can hit it normally. Also Overcharge if left alone can deal more regression then Brine.

-"Infinite T3 Myers is probably one of the best builds to run both perks on."

This is so false. If you aren't getting it done with Bam+infinite T3 then you need to rethink your movement.

-"Eruption is a much better perk than people give it credit for"

It's an S tier perk vs solo players and C tier or less vs SWF teams. This is a win more perk where you win more by using it when you don't need it.

Oh. Yeah, I just went ahead and bought every killer. Worth it, IMO. Every one of them is P3 now, so I don't even have to grind for perks anymore excepting the generic ones.

Brine can trigger zombies over to the gens, too. Right? And multiple times. I mean, it causes a loud noise notification just like Discordance. As far as I could tell, it was working fine.

Overcharge was a terrible perk before its rework, and it's mediocre now (at least on its own). Most survivors will hit the skill check, and if they notice that you have it, a lot of them are going to assume you're running the Brine/Overcharge combo and hug gens, anyway. Man, I don't know how you can defend Overcharge and then say with a straight face that Eruption is a C-tier perk. (I'd argue that Eruption is B-tier across the board and Overcharge is C-tier on its own against solos and F-tier on its own against experienced SWFs.)

    >This is so false. If you aren't getting it done with Bam+infinite T3 then you need to rethink your movement.

It's not about not getting it done. It's about the fact that Myers already vaults extremely fast in T3, and an extra 55% on top of that is extremely fun. And have you see how far he can lunge with Coup? He used to be able to completely ignore old Dead Hard if you timed things correctly.

I'll admit, however, that I haven't actually run this on Myers T3 yet myself, so this is conjecture. I'm actually going to go try this now.

I guess we can categorize you in the stupidity section.

I brought up Altruism for a reason (and it is not rocket science to comprehend that). I'm sure we can all tell you're a killer who gets upset.

Anyway, that's not the point of the game. Altruism is part of the game, facecamping is manmade. If you want to be picky like that, we can.

I guess we can categorize you in the "soon to be banned from the forum" section.

I don't really get so upset. I 3-4K almost every game. My kill rate is around 80%. And I don't facecamp as a strategy because I recognize that it's bad and will lose me the game.

I do get mad when I'm playing as a survivor and all of my teammates end up slugged because they went for a save while Bubba was camping the hook, and then I have to stop the gen I'm doing and risk death to go rescue them.

You're an obvious troll, and my post is not for you. It's for anyone who actually wants to learn how to play the game.

You know how people worked out the spawn formula for the cube? Zombies have a similar idea except they have a smaller exclusion zone on spawn.

It doesn't really give you the same level of information but there is a spawn pattern.

-"run STBFL, Bamboozle, Superior Anatomy to synergize with his natural pallet-shredding abilities."

You don't need to run two perks that do almost the same thing. Bamboozle always speeds up your vault a tiny bit and blocks the window. It's a better perk 99% of the time unless you find yourself in an area with a stupid number of windows (suffocation pit). Even then with practice you can still force certain windows via positioning and guile.

Play 10 games with MM using infinite T3 addon+ Bamboozle. Then swap out Bam for SA - you'll see Bam is the better perk.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3208836#Comment_3208836

Eruption is a perk that destroys solo players and does very little vs SWF.

I would argue that Bamboozle and Superior are different perks with different use cases, and they do have some synergy. I'd agree that Bam is the stronger of the two overall, but it gets you one easy down per survivor (one per game if it's an SWF) and then survivors will make a point of not looping you around windows, instead vaulting through them once and running in the other direction. Which is where superior comes in. And the speed bonuses on the two stack.

I ran this for a few games on my Clown anti-chase build, and it was effective, but not worth wasting a perk slot for Superior, so I ended up replacing that.

Infinite T3 Myers is probably one of the best builds to run both perks on. Add in Coup de Grace and it's pure cheese.

Eruption is a much better perk than people give it credit for, but it only has niche uses. If your entire build is centered around gen-kicking (meaning, you kick a gen before you take a chase, which works best on killers with good anti-loop, or else you patrol the map and make sure every gen is kicked and survivors are scared and one or two of them have to take the time to heal), you can get regression on a bunch of gens at once.

This works especially well when you run Overcharge and Brine, since you can kick a gen before a chase, get an extra 10% off of it on the down, and if nobody else was working on it, it's going to be regressing at 300% on top of that.

It really shines in 3-gen situations when stacked with Overcharge, Brine, and PR. If you manage to get a decent 3-gen set up with that build, gg survivors better luck next time.

In Nemi's case, I used it that game because it attracted zombies due to the explosion, which means that even if they stayed off of gens when getting downed and didn't get the incapacitated effect, it was still 10% off of every kicked gen, and then they're getting chased off by zombies a minute later, which is as good as being incapacitated.

That game was a SWF. I've tried it three more times, and all were 3-4K.

My current Gerneric build is : Discordance, Overcharge, STBFL, Bamboozle.

Overcharge is great vs solo players and good once you tunnel someone out. It does less vs SWF because they can get right back on generators when you scare someone off. Discordance can once again feedback into what you need to do at a generator when it was yellow 5 seconds ago. You hit one person chase a bit see if you can down easily and circle back to injure/infect the other

Bam is the "window insurance perk/ early pallet remover"

My What if they are SWAT team SWF build is : - still a thought process in development but has Franklin's Demise

-"If you have any specific tiles or loops where you'd recommend a certain playstyle or direction of movement."

When chasing the very good survivor around a pallet loop it is important to think about which side is the "inside" for a pallet. What I mean by this is the pallet is always against a wall of some kind. Survivors who understand perfect timing/movement can move to the inside wall if you try to whip.

This would be easier illustrated with a picture but I don't have an example picture for you. Long story short the loop will have a more favorable direction for you when the loop puts the pallet further away from a close turn. My brain wants to say all pallets are on the left wall but that is a matter of which way you are facing and really more about which structure they are attached to. What this means is that a survivor looping anti clockwise has a slight advantage in that direction if there is a pallet they can use to "shield" themselves from the whip hit after they round a corner.

Get very good at knowing your distances with the whip and try to use Tier II as the "base". Be aware level one is different then level three when you just finished a game and start a new one. This is obvious but takes some time for you to not make this mistake except sometimes to just barely miss a tier 1 whip.

When you loop around the traditional pallet gym if the spacing is right you can pull out the whip as you come around a corner before seeing the survivor. This again is a muscle memory of knowing the spacing. You can whip with almost no chance for them to evade as they cant get to anything and there is only a possible "U" shape to move into. This is a perfect example where you don't just whip wildly- you line up the shot and fire.

I'll try to get a picture or video for one of these.

Why would you run Overcharge over Brine? Overcharge is 75% regression at first, and survivors who have been playing for more than a week are likely to easily hit the skill check. Brine is instant 200%, and they're almost certainly going to hit a normal skill check (causing a loud noise notification) shortly after starting a gen.

I never run Overcharge without Brine except on certain Doctor builds.

  • @squirtinq said:

Everything screams stupidity about camping and why the devs think it's a "viable strategy". To level/grade up, you need to unhook teammates for grade points. Did the devs forget what Altruism is? You cannot do that when a killer camps. What's the point of the mechanics of the game then?

The least the devs can do is remove grabbing.

I have a lot of other complaints about this game but camping probably is the most ludicrous of them all when you come to the conclusion that it is "part of the game".

If a killer facecamps hooks all game and he gets a 4K because you all stupidly went for saves instead of doing gens, that's on you and your teammates. If a killer is facecamping, use Reassurance if you have it (just ignore it if you don't) and then go do gens.

If you're on the hook and someone is facecamping you, you wait and do the skill checks, even if nobody is coming.

Some people will say "But why should I have to stay in the game if I'm being facecamped and nobody can be bothered to go for the rescue? It's not fun." These people are shortsighted. It also won't be fun for the killer when all 5 gens pop before he can get a second or third hook, and he'll stop doing that eventually because he'll realize that it isn't fun. If you suicide on hook or DC, you're giving him what he wants by giving him a free kill and making the rest of the game easy for him, and he'll continue to camp.

    JUST DO GENS.

    It's not rocket science, people.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/348579/what-are-some-advanced-tips-strategies-for-nemesis

    Skill shots

The real trick to Nemesis is knowing when you will land a whip and when you won't. If you miss with a whip you give them a lot of room to make distance and that really sucks on a killer with no mobility. Learn to recognize that certain loops have just the right shape where you can sling around a corner when the timing is right and there is no chance to dodge. This is really a "frame counting" issue where you either know or you don't. If you don't know right now you will if you play him enough. You also need to learn every piece of terrain and say yes I can whip over that part of the tile or no I cannot.

In case no one has told you the survivor hitbox is more closely "weighted" around their rear end. So whip their arse not their face - a common courtesy.

There are small tricks that will take time to learn unless someone tells you. As an example say you are chasing someone around the shack. When you drag your whip you could either go outside to in or inside to out. Do you know which one is better? If you drag outside to in there is almost no chance they can dodge the hit. Note: I did have one person dodge one time in like 1000 games but I have a suspicion they were 2-3% sped up from normal movement as no one else has ever been able to dodge in the way they did. If you go inside to out it is very easy for a survivor to dodge the attack.

Never hold the whip for more than a moment unless they are in the open and there's nothing around. You can condition people to make them dodge a whip when you aren't going to whip at all. Don't be afraid to pull out the whip and not use it to condition the survivor that sometimes you fake whipping. This is something you would need to learn how to do. It's not something you can really teach - but touches on the idea of "playing dumb". Most people I 4k against get the idea: how did I lose vs this chump? They played like an idiot and won. The reality is that the whole time there was method to my pretend idiocy (madness - as per the line).

You probably are used to people doing the window fake and then they hope you miss the whip and then they vault safely. Learn to hold the whip until their animation changes - you have plenty of time. If they dont vault let go and punch them unless they are the obsession to save stacks.

Wild crazy angle flicks will work vs bad players but will regularly miss vs good players. The real skill is developing muscle memory for a consistent 30° flick or a 90° flick. This can help you hit vs very good players when they are the obsession and are very close where it can be hard to whip them. While it looks sexy when Otz gets 1/10 wild window flicks at extreme angles - they almost never land. This is a move he wants to force to work but it's really more of a huntress or trickster move. It is simply too easy for a survivor to duck and avoid them.

    Perks

I always run STBFL unless I really need the perk slot to counter a SWF in some other way. This perk is really huge for him as he can keep stacks extremely easily. Depending on who is the obsession you can stay at t2 the whole game and only get two whip hits. You need to almost never miss with your whip if you want to make the most out of this perk vs very good survivors. On that note if you ever are winning a game and you just can't whip the last survivor but the other person is on the floor : spend as long as you can chasing them to learn and practice against their movements.

Discordance is extremely strong with him after the perk rework. I didn't use it before because some of the other gen regression options were so good (rip Pop/old PR). The synergy for zombie interruption is really huge. This combos well into Overcharge as well as you can get zombies that have left to come back if they fail an overcharge check.

Bamboozle is really good on him as you can force the strongest pallets on the first loop. This gives players almost no choice in how they can shift W against you. You might think : I have the whip I don't need it. Generally speaking vs 3/4 targets you should punch unless you would get nothing and then you might as well whip unless it is end game.

Corrupt is a perk I used religiously before but not anymore. With good game sense (or discordance) you can figure where people are early on and put a lot of pressure with just one or two dives on a generator.

    Zombies

Pay attention to your friends when they have their arms up but be aware sometimes they really have not seen anyone in 15 seconds. Don't be afraid to whip them if you are playing a game and everyone is a "hard target" to get to T2. Generally speaking it is a bad idea to destroy a zombie near a gen you know someone was just working on but is hiding and you didn't infect or injure.

Don't cross the map to break a zombie unless you know people are hiding and not cranking out generators.

Tunneling is more effective with Nemesis because the game becomes 3v3 if you eliminate a survivor. There is no other killer with the potential for this much 4v1 damage.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3208715#Comment_3208715

Oh my do you have a lot to learn.

I didn't read your post until after I wrote mine, and I didn't even know loud noise notifications attracted zombies until just now.

I just ran a Brine/PR/Eruption/STBFL build and decimated some Twitch streamers, and it was live.

    Thanks.

  • Bumping this thread for interest.

I play Nemi occasionally, but he isn't anywhere near one of my mains.

I usually just use STBFL with him and M1 everything excepting pallets/windows and the Obsession, although I wouldn't exactly call that an "advanced strategy".

One thing nobody has been able to figure out is how to use zombies effectively. If you figure out how they're spawned (maybe there some special math behind it, like the Lament Configutation), you might be able to better know when and how to bump them off so they can respawn near loops and pressure gens.

One of the most underrated things about zombies is their ability to get rid of pallets. Survivors would usually rather drop a pallet on their head than slowly lead them away from a gen and wait for the killer to come find them. Maybe an anti-pallet strategy? Or just an anti-chase in general; run STBFL, Bamboozle, Superior Anatomy to synergize with his natural pallet-shredding abilities.

Leatherface doesn't really HAVE an iconic counterpart besides the first movie, whose protagonist no one knows the name of. Pinhead has no iconic rival, Ghostface has Sidney Prescott but licensing "iconic" Survivors is the hardest thing to do for any property. They couldn't license Jamie Lee Curtis, they couldn't license Danny Glover, they couldn't even license Kyle Gallner from 2010's Nightmare not because the actor didn't wanna do it (he wanted to do it for free) but because the movie rights owners had the rights to Kyle's FACE in the movie, likely what also happened with Halloween.

Licensing Killers is much less of a problem but the only licensed Survivors in the game right now with correct portrayals are the Stranger Things teens and the Resident Evil Survivors, who are technically played by real life models and voice actors.

What do you mean? Do you just mean they couldn't get Glover and Curtis to voice their characters?

There's also Ash. Bruce Campbell voiced him on the game, didn't he?

Not only will it still be a thing, it will be more common.

Sure you'll get to lose quicker, but you'll get to lose more.

This is true. Snowballing slugs as quickly as possible will become a strategy in its own right, far more than it already is.

An infinite T3 Myers, a terror radius addon or two, Infectious, and some aura reading perks. Stuff like that might even become the new meta against genrushers now that Hyperfocus is a thing. Sick of having one gen pop before I even make it all the way across the map and then two more just as I get my first down. If games are only going to be two minutes, anyway, might as well aim for four slugs in forty seconds.

I wouldn't say either dead hard or hyperfocus are hard to pull off. Hyperfocus is just reverse og ruin. Why behavior thinks thats okay who knows. New dead hard basically turns off killers ability to lunge if you have reaction time and now its just third health state the perk

Dead Hard isn't difficult to pull off, but it isn't difficult to counter, either. If you know a survivor has it, you can bait it out, but I don't find myself checking for it before I down someone for the first time in every game the way I used to, just because not everyone runs it, so it sometimes catches me off guard. It doesn't do anything if you bait it out.

I can't pull off Hyperfocus for very long, even with Stake Out. I mean, I have started running them in one of my survivor builds along with Prove Thyself and Fast Track, and it makes a difference, but I can't get more than 6 or 7 stacks on Hyperfocus even starting with full stacks on Stake Out. But I'm not a survivor main.

I do think that Hyperfocus can be OP in the hands of someone who can hit all the skill checks consistently and has a BNP.

Oh are we back to complaining about Lucky Break? That died down a bit so I was wondering when I'd see it next

People are complaining about Lucky Break?

Yeah, sure, it's a great perk... the first time you use it every match. And assuming you center your entire build around it.

Honestly, I don't know if there are any OP survivor perks at this point. Maybe Hyperfocus, but that's not easy to pull off. Dead Hard is still annoying sometimes, and I kick myself for not seeing it coming, but, on the other hand, I only don't see it coming because I don't expect every survivor to have it because not every survivor runs it because it's halfway fair now.

Actually Tim Burton confirmed it is mainly a Halloween film. Though I think we can all say it's both Halloween and Christmas.

Yeah, well, he's wrong. It's a Christmas film.

  • Spirit should clearly be Sally, but I'm 100% onboard with this.

Except NBC is a Christmas movie, not a Halloween movie. These should be added during a winter event.

I don't know why people keep saying this. It was bad for a week or two after the update was released, but it's fine now. MMR has adjusted. I've been playing a ton of survivor thanks to short queues and bonus bloodpoints, and my escape rate is as high as it's ever been.

Sure, I survived maybe 5% of games when the patch first dropped, but things have evened out since then.

Ok guys, I can't play DBD anymore. I've installed a VM with GPU passthrough for DBD, and since the latest update it says "Cannot run under Virtual Machine". Welp, too bad, it had worked for years.

Guess I'll have to wait until it's supported under Linux. Gotta play some different games for the next time. Too bad I already paid the 12 € for the new DLC and cannot even play it.

Really? I was halfway considering doing that. Damn.

Anyways, you can play it on Stadia, which has cross-progression with Steam. I have 153/202 achievements on Stadia now, and counting... but it sure would be nice to be able to play the Steam version.

There's also GeForce Now, but the input lag is atrocious compared to Stadia (just for DBD; not necessarily for every game).

Probably because they had a meeting, and whoever's in charge laughed at the idea that Linux desktop support was important and then decided that DBD wouldn't be enabled for Proton at all until they had it working with various drivers for Steam Deck and then got the official Steam Deck seal of approval from Valve.

    @Vage said:

IMHO, the fact is: enabling Steam Deck and Linux support aren't a priority for them.

That's because this will not bring new sales. Who owns a Steam Deck is (most of the time) someone that already own the game on Steam, probably with all the DLC and stuff. The Nintendo Switch is a proprietary solution and bringing the game there, for example, equal to new sales.

This doesn't mean that it will not be enabled in future, but is not a priority actually for the devs.

This is just my idea about it, I can also be wrong. I also hope that It will be implemented soon, but i don't think so.

I don't play anymore, but my gf did, and this game Is the only reason stopping me from removing Windows and install Linux actually.

    Cheers.

Yeah, I deleted my Windows partition a year ago when Proton support was announced. Still waiting.

It's weird that the only game I really play is the only one that's holding out so hard against supporting Linux. Literally every other game works flawlessly.

Ah, well. Windows is finally dead.

While I would have agreed with this mentality in the past, the Linux gaming scene has changed completely over the last couple years.

In the past, developers had to make game builds specifically for Linux. This would result in hundreds of bugs that would cost precious developer time and lots of money to fix and maintain.

Nowadays, everything can run through the proton compatibility layer. If a game has a problem on Linux, a bug report can be created on the Proton github page and will be addressed by a developer at some point. The only thing holding DBD back from Linux is its anti-cheat, East Anti Cheat. EAC has been updated to support Linux/Proton, requiring the developer to enable the feature on their end for it to work. It is possible that there exists a major conflict with Behaviour's existing codebase and EAC Proton support. But with no official communications from the developer, we have nothing but speculation.

tl;dr Enable proton support, Linux community will fix bugs running game. Any developer communication would be appreciated.

Proton is both a blessing and a curse.

Yes, it's taken the Linux gaming scene mainstream in a way nobody would have believed possible even a decade ago, but native builds are still preferable. They perform better. I get better performance on a lot of games on Linux even with Proton, but my computer can run games it really shouldn't even be able to run when they're native binaries.

I mean, in a game where you hook and kill people, "Sorry, I didn't mean to kill you", with kill/murder/slaughter all being filtered. The actual names of the characters. "downed" was filtered one game.

It is so inconsistent, I wonder if it isn't actually DBD, but one of the console markets mandating that chats must be filtered, and here's the list of filter words. So you only get filtering if one of the players is on that console. Then you might have a couple game sources with censorship requirements; and most restrictive wins.

IE all steam = no filter, X-Box=Filter A, Playstation=Filter B, etc... Have an X-Box and a PS4 player, you get BOTH filter A and B, and it gets a lot harder to communicate.

If that were true, Friday the 13th's ingame chat would be censored, but it isn't. And Valve does not give the slightest ######### about swearing, so there'd be no need to censor anything in the PC chat if that were the case.

Last time I looked at the achievements was a long time ago. Was there one where as survivor you had to do a full gen and escape from the exit when you're the last survivor remaining? Maybe I'm wrong and I can't remember.

You don't have to do the full gen, just complete it. You can 99% a gen and then have three of your SWF buddies throw themselves at the killer when four gens are done.

I didn't even have to do that, though (see below); I play solo and got it pretty easily.

Yes it's called Left for Dead

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/T1QPMVOKLN4T/image.png

Extremely difficult achievement, the stars have to align for you to be able to do it.

That's what I thought until I decided to give a try. Got it a week ago after five attempts, and three of them were close.

I ultimately only got it because Nurse was merciful and let me finish opening the exit gates when I dropped my toolbox (so someone got a similar treatment that day when I was playing as killer, when I almost never show mercy), but it wasn't anywhere near as impossible as I'd thought. Seems like I'm the only one doing gens and trying to avoid the killer most games, so the opportunity came along more than enough.

I used Adrenaline/Wake Up/Sole Survivor/Fast Track and just tried to hit all good skill checks until the last gen, at which point I had 75% bonus speed and up to 27 stacks on Fast Track, plus instant heal once the gen was done along with haste, extra opening speed, and ability to see the exit gates.

I got it in my first try I guess I was lucky. I ran all gen perks and toolbox with BNP and got 2 gen done with teammates at start and then fixed one with the brand new part and then killer chased me but gave up and I did the last gen while injured.

Right? It looks like a hard achievement on paper, but.

  • I really wish they'd just let us use whatever words we want (ingame and on the forums). Even if there's an argument for censoring slurs and suicide goading, I don't see any reason why we can't use the f-word. It's not like "eff you" or "go eff yourself" has any emotional impact in the current day and age beyond the "you're an idiot" and "git gud, loser, uninstall" that's already explicitly allowed.

And there's even less reason to censor the forums since the tone here is far more conversational and far less combative most of the time, and the mods have easy access to every thread and comment that's posted and are reading them already.

  • Hail Satan Every Day

The dark lord looks upon you with favor.

Every time you hit a survivor, you recieve a token. For each token, survivors receive a stackable repair speed penalty of 300%, up to a maximum of 150,000%.

Your speed is increased by 15% while in a chase.

Damaging a generator puts all survivors within a 128m radius into the dying state.

The survivors cannot open the exit gates.

  • @Viciusaurus said:

I've had several lobbies today trying to play killer, and I'm the only one readied up. When the clock hits 10-15 seconds left, a random survivor will just up and leave, to be replaced with a new survivor who will repeat the same action. I had one lobby where I went through 8 different survivors not readying up while the rest of the party just sat there waiting.

Is anyone else experiencing this or is it just me?

I've had this happen in a lot of my games lately. I don't know what's up. Like lauraa said, probably just a coincidence.

It isn't happening in every game by any means, or even enough to be annoying more than once in a while, but I've had a couple of lobbies lately where it'll rotate through three or four different survivors leaving before the goddamn game starts.

  • Actually, never mind.

I decided to try for the Left for Dead achievement and got it after five games, and a couple of them were close. I actually nearly died at the exit gates, but Nurse was merciful.

Didn't have to intentionally kill all of my teammates, either. They do a great job of that all on their own.

Used Adrenaline/Wake Up/Sole Survivor/Fast Track and just tried to hit all good skill checks until the last gen, at which point I had 75% bonus speed and up to 27 stacks on Fast Track.

I think they can't decide what it is. Honestly for most people it's a party game. Taking this game seriously is an incredibly dull way to play it for all players involved. Certain perks, addons, killers, maps are just way too silly and imbalanced to be taken seriously.

Having said that it's got potential to be a competitive game. If you play it in comp leagues or whatever that have rules? Absolutely different, the rules encourage more variety (i.e not just Blight/Nurse) while keeping the game competitive.

Do these exist? I keep hearing about tournaments, but I've never actually found one.

I'm surprised that some Myers add-ons have survived all the nerfs to killer over the year.

Myers' addons are the only reason why he's a viable killer. His basekit is a lot more decent than some people will ever admit, but he's still an M1 killer with no map pressure.

As far as tombstone addons go, they're really just not very good. Judith's is flat-out worthless, and Piece is situational at best. The amount of stalk that it takes to activate it makes it difficult to justify using unless you're running a good stalk addon and a lot of slowdown. He does have some insanely good builds, but that's not one of them.

    @Nathan13 said:

Or if they’re in the dying state?? We all know that lockers are the only way to counter a tombstone Myers once he is able to mori. But also survivors probably should’ve done a better job by not allowing to him to juice up to tier 3. What do y’all think?

Yes. Just because that achievement is awful.

Maybe that would only apply to the last survivor, or else there's a 30-60 second timer that allows the survivor to be Mori'd on the ground or from inside of the locker, which would mean that camping a locker would still be a bad play in all situations except when you're going for the achievement. That way, survivors can't deny it if the killer really wants it, but they have counterplay since Myers is still going to lose if he spends all match staring at lockers instead of pressuring gens.

Should killers have some sort of handicap so that survivors can get their Left Behind achievement..? Like maybe the killer is auto-stunned for 60 seconds once the 2nd to last survivor is killed. That way, they can’t artificially deny the last survivor a shot at obtaining that achievement. Or is it different when it’s survivors who want an achievement?

That achievement shouldn't be in the game in the first place. If you're achievement hunting which is pretty much the only way to get that one, you have to center your entire build and playstyle around getting your entire team killed so you can have a shot at it. And it's such a difficult achievement to get that you pretty much have to try for it if you want it.

    @TotemSeeker91 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3168853#Comment_3168853

How about the fact that the Myers achievement is, call it what you will if you had better experience, one of the hardest ones to get

To get hatch achievement, just sit in the corner, contribute nothing and escape through hatch

I think they meant the Left for Dead achievement, not the hatch one, which is almost as hard to get as Evil Incarnate.

But you're still half-correct. It's not an easy achievement to get, but it doesn't just require contributing nothing; if you want it, your best bet is to actively sabotage your entire team. I don't know why that one is still in the game.

Here is my favorite Bubba story: had a soloQ game were the killer was afk, ie the whole game no one got chased or damaged and we were just finishing gens by ourselves, with the occasional totem or chest thrown in. When the 5th gen popped and the EGC started, suddenly someone went down and got hooked .. in the basement!

I went looking and found an insidious basement bubby who just had defended his stuff and who was shaking his head. Another player went down there (they were obviously a 2 man SWF group, with matching names) and got down, too, after a trade. They traded more times till they both hung from the hooks and Bubba looked at me and just shook his head. I nooded, gathered all my courage and moved to Bubbas side. Together we watched the two survivors get sacrificed, I asked if I may take one of their items, which Bubba denied (I guess that basement chest doesn't fill itself), so I waved him good bye and jogged out of the trial. Pretty wholesome affair.

    Ha.

I had a game yesterday where there was... no killer. Not anywhere. We looked, but there simply wasn't one anyplace on the map. So we scratched our heads and did our gens, and then all of us piled in front of one exit gate. Just as it opened, a Nurse with Insidious pops out out of nowhere from behind it and downs two people with NOED. I got lucky, but I figured (correctly) that Blood Warden must be in play, so I ran out of the gate as quickly as I could. Others weren't so lucky.

  • Alone in the Dark deserves a full chapter.

And why not? It was the inspiration for games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

  • I rarely saw Bubba in the first place, and when it I did, 50% of the time it was Basement Bubba. Since that build was basically made useless (I mean, it wasn't really good in the first place unless survivors were potatoes, but a lot of survivors are potatoes) in the latest patch, 50% of the people who used to main Bubba probably switched to a different killer.

I don't know why they don't drop at the same time but I know as someone who buys the DLC off Steam and not off the ingame store that you could buy the characters from the ingame store as soon as the update went live but had to wait until later in they day to buy off Steam. Happy to be wrong this time around.

Yep. Wasn't fast enough for me, though:

Came out exactly one hour after I bought it. :P

  • @[Deleted User] said:

They usually drop the update and you can buy the characters in the store around 11 am EST (4 pm your time). If you want to buy the DLC they usually seem to drop much later in the day. I think often around 2 pm EST (7 pm for you). This of course is just my observation and could be different this time around.

    ...Really?

    REALLY?

I don't remember that being the case the last few times I've bought DLCs on release day, but, then, I couldn't say for sure that they weren't done with AC. Why the hell wouldn't the DLC drop at the same time as the update?

I mean, I guess I have 500 AC already, and I was just planning on spending them on cosmetics I can grind, anyway... So I'll end up paying $2.00 less if I just buy 1000 AC... but...

  • Hasn't it always been like that?

The trick is to find an area where chains can't spawn to hit you, like one of those small |_| shaped structures or an area where you can squeeze between rocks. I can't ever get the box done unless I'm surrounded on 3-4 sides with objects, but it works.

  • Survivor: 3

I'd even say that I used to be a better survivor than I am now (I might have rated myself a 4 a year ago), mostly because my playstyle has gotten lazy. I don't really take survivor games seriously the way I do killer games. I don't survive most of them, and that doesn't bother me. I play survivor when I want to relax.

M1 Killers (Myers, Ghostface, Clown, Pig, Sadako, Doctor): 6-7

I make sure every game is a sweatfest, and I 3-4K the majority of them. It's hard to say how good I actually am since I can't see my MMR, but some people tell me in the EGC that they rarely see the killers I use. I've gotten to the point where I can counter most survivor plays and learned a lot of techniques for mindgaming and counter-mindgaming, and I win maybe 7 or 8 out of 10 games.

I'm starting to occasionally come across survivors who can pull really complex tricks, get gens done in a couple of minutes, and/or have insanely advanced looping skills that are very difficult to deal with when playing M1, but that's still not the majority of games.

When DBD finally gets Steam Deck/Linux support, I can switch back to Steam from Stadia, and then I imagine my kill rate will go up even more since I've been playing with a split-second of input lag as a handicap. If I stop using a controller, I might get even better.

Complex Killers (Nurse, Blight, Oni): 2

I can't use their powers effectively to save my life, so I either end up M1ing a bunch of complete n00bs for the 4K or trying to use their power and failing miserably.

It's nowhere close to a monster on any killer. I've just done a whole stream of Call Of Brine/Overcharge/Eruption, and it was garbage. The games I did win, I would have won anyway. The games I lost, those perks did nothing for me. They literally encourage you to play in a weaker way. You need to commit to kicking gens instead of pursuing the survivors and getting more injures/downs, which makes them overall safer across the course of the match, which allows them to gen tap the gens you kicked and you get no regression. And as I predicted, the consistently healthy survivors who got hit by Eruption simply ran at me and took me on a chase, which is what Incapacitated encourages you to do since you can't work on gens or heal. And what was I to do, ignore them when they ran at me, just so I could find survivor who could work on gens, just so the person I just dropped chase with could get back on a gen since I left them and Incapacitated only lasts 20 something seconds? *inhale* The rest of you fools can try to make that "unbeatable" perk combo work. You can count me out.

Yeah, you'll still lose all the gens if you don't have Deadlock. I tried a few games yesterday with Overcharge+Call of Brine+Eruption+Pop, and it's much less effective.

And yes, you need to play with a very specific playstyle. Kicking gens becomes more important than committing to chases. I play mostly stealth killers, so I get a lot of free hits out of the fact that once they realize you have the CoB/Overcharge combo, they'll all hug gens, which cuts my chase time in half. Find the weakest looper and tunnel them out; once it's 3v1, they don't stand a chance, especially if you have a good potential three-gen set up.

I win 90% of games with this build, and I'd say that, more than half the time, there's only one gen left when I do. So I think Deadlock makes all the difference there.

Since I mostly play M1 killers, it's more consistent than a full anti-chase build in many cases. If you have zero mobility, a genrush squad is a very real threat no matter how quickly you can get downs.

This is a phrase I've seen used around very frequently, initially used in terms of Decisive Strike, more recently in debates around Off The Record and basekit post-unhook Endurance, and as of Project W, Reassurance. The general argument is that, during endgame, certain perks should deacitvate which hamper the killer's efforts of killing the survivor. I will try to keep my own opinions around any perks discussed here out of the conversation- feel free to look at my comment history if you're curious.

My question is, though, why should the killer get "free kills"? Because, in essence, disabling all of the anti-camp, anti-tunnel, and anti-slug tools that Survivors possess will equate to "free kills", where the Survivor team has very little they can do in terms of assisting a hooked teammate, which becomes progressively more likely as a Trial continues due to resources being consumed. Naturally, good SWF players on comms are able to bodyblock for each other and try and get their teammates to safety, but even bad SWF players or just solo queue will struggle substantially more without, say, BT or Reassurance to help with camping. And quite frankly, if you still can't get a hook after 5 gens have popped, you really don't deserve one, so the edge case of the killer having nobody on the hook nor having them been hooked the entire trial doesn't really apply.

So, why is it always that Survivors don't deserve "free escapes" and yet end-game camping/tunneling is justified because it's how the killer is able to score some last kills? Why should Survivors lose access to their tools while killers gain a massive boost to theirs (due to a lack of map resources)?

I'm genuinely curious why the argument is used so much- in my honest opinion, there are other arguments that can be used in their place which, at least to me, sound substantially less balanced.

If this post feels like a ramble and/or makes very little sense, I do apologise- I've been sat on a coach for the past 24 hours and caught an illness that's turned my brain to mush. Writing in grammatically correct sentences is about all I can manage right now, because my brain unhelpfully supplies every third word in German instead of English.

The difference is that killers don't get free kills when those perks deactivate. The problem is that Decisive Strike and Off the Record, if used during the endgame, can guarantee an escape for both the rescuing survivor and the hooked survivor, with no drawback or even a chance of failure. If I have someone hooked during the EGC and the survivor team is good, I'll sometimes end up getting no kills out of it even without DS and OTR, and on rare occasions it'll turn a 0-1K into a 3-4K if the survivors are bad, but mostly it just results in the two of them trading hooks.

And that hook wasn't a "free kill". I earned it by chasing and downing someone. There shouldn't be a perk combo that exists in the game that can take that away from me with no counterplay.

Now, I don't see how Reassurance would equate to a free escape during endgame, but I haven't played PTB, and I don't know. If it's the endgame and I have someone hooked, I'm probably camping it anyway.

I had so much hope for it when it came out too. Same with Eruption. Oppression's cooldown is just too long.

Eruption is actually good now. Combine it with Call of Brine, Overcharge, and Deadlock, and it's a monster on any killer.
