Killer main to killer main, be careful of relying too heavily on this eruption & CoB combo. It’s bound to be nerfed. Especially if you are a less experienced killer, don’t get too comfortable. Remember the last meta shakeup? Many survivors were runnin around clueless without Dead hard and it was a slaughter for a couple weeks.
The same thing is bound to happen if y’all get too complacent with this current meta. When I’m playing survivor (incentive isn’t on killer) I see a lot of killers running full regression builds that are slowing us down just enough to maybe get a 2k, but they are absolutely lacking in chase. Once this change happens, those 2k’s will turn into GGEZ’s for the survivors.
I’m not saying don’t run it.. run whatever you want (I hate kicking gens so I don’t run any gen kicking perks). Just don’t get crutched on it and sabotage yourself for when it gets taken out from under you.
I'm hoping that you're absolutely, 100% wrong.
And I believe you're absolutely, 100% wrong, too. After all, when they nerfed Ruin into the ground, their stated reason wasn't because it was too strong, it was specifically because they wanted to switch up the meta. Their point wasn't to destroy any semblance of a meta altogether.
If they do get rid of the current meta perks, they'll replace them with something else.

Old meta :
"Guys don't use Ruin + Undying, it's boosting you. Also don't use noed, or PR with DMS, same thing".
Current meta :
"Guys don't use Eruption + CoH it's boosting you.."
Next meta :
"Guys don't use..."
Anyways. Play the meta if you want to. And if you get skilled survivors, GOOD, YOU WILL IMPROVE.
This.

Nah, I already play a meme killer without addons and slowdown, and if people manage to give me 4ks im convinced you can play perkless trapper without using traps and still win against some teams, no need to run meta everytime.
It depends. I tried a few games on a fresh EGS account a few days back, and I was able to exactly that, 4K everyone as perkless, addonless, beartrapless Trapper before two gens were done.
But that's just because my MMR was so low. If all you're doing is memeing around, then of course you're not seeing better players.
@[Deleted User] said:
Hugely agree. There's a temptation as you struggle early on in your killer career to run your strongest add ons and perks to produce wins. I did it too. I pretty much only played Spirit with purple and Iri add ons back in 2018 because I struggled with everything else. But there's a lot you aren't going to learn when you rely on overtuned things, and you won't become a better killer. It's 100% possible to have a really high win-rate without relying on full meta and strong add-ons, but you have to commit to actually learning the role and going through the pain of learning.
Well, yeah, sure, if you're playing Spirit or Nurse. Ghostface needs all the help he can get.
Some of the perks that are downright oppressive on good killers just manage to make lesser killers viable. That's the problem DBD is fundamentally dealing with whenever someone wants to nerf of buff some of these perks.
Side rant:
Dead Hard is still an S-tier perk on survivors, and it's become the bane of my existence again in DBD now that survivors know how to use it. It's not as terrible as it used to be, but I still see it every game again, and screwing up against it one time can cost an extra 30-45 seconds in a single chase, which can mean the entire game if you're an M1 killer without an accessible instadown.
So. I really don't wanna hear any talk about nerfing killer meta perks just as the survivor meta picks up again, anyhow.
On the other hand, perks that killers were freaking out about (OTR, I'm looking at you) turned out to be underpowered.
Anyways, I hate how Ruin, which took another perk slot (Undying) to even be debatably S-tier was nerfed to F-tier with or without Undying, while the uncounterable SSS-tier survivor perk was just nerfed to S-tier. I mean, fine, whatever, killers did get some basekit buffs along with that, but I don't think we need killer perk nerfs, and certainly not without some new perks to replace them.

I was fine with the old map as long as I wasn't running a 110% speed killer. But for killers like Nemesis, it was fine. At least for me.
Sigh. I miss Hawkins. I would love to play Dredge on Hawkins.
Me too.
I mean, I miss Hawkins. Dredge feels clunky to me, but I'll play him if I have a daily. I am firmly on Team Sadako.

Honestly, I kinda agree, it's not a very good map. Aesthetically it's wonderful, a beautiful homage to Resident Evil. However in a game like DbD, it's not good, there's just too much going on and the gen and hook spread is pretty atrocious.
This might be a me thing, but I always get super lost on RPD playing survivor or killer. I can never find gens or hooks and I find myself going around in circles just trying to get anywhere.
I really hope they enable the old map for custom matches.

Yeah if the people are genuinely clueless. Anyone that is actually paying attention which in higher mmr they'll hear the lullaby and be running after hearing it for 2 consistent seconds.
In theory, yeah. In practice, it works a lot better than it should.
I mean, the logical parts of my brain agree with you, but my personal experience has been that there are a lot of times when survivors just either don't hear it coming or ignore it. This happens even in situations where it absolutely shouldn't (and I'm not in the lowest MMR brackets anymore). Nurse's is a very good perk on her.
I was one of the biggest complainers here about her "useless" stealth, but it works a lot better ingame than it does on paper.
Maybe I'll play a few games today and see how much I can get out of it and report back.

hard disagree, going against good loopers is the most fun part of even playing a m1 killer
Double hard disagree.
If you think this, I think you either don't play very many M1 killers, or your MMR is still too low to know what a good looper looks like.
Truly good loopers use really advanced tactics. Mindgames and counter-mindgames and counter-counter-mindgames at every window and pallet, and if you just try to power through, you'll find that they have every loop and potential loop memorized to the point where they know exactly how many times they can loop the killer before dropping the pallet, whether or not they can afford to try to mindgame the pallet to get an extra loop or two out of it, the distance to the next loops and which ones they can get to without raking a hit, which loops can be skipped in the middle of a chase and then chained together...
I'm having a hard time explaining that last one. Like, they'll loop you as usual, then skip the next loop over since they know you won't have the speed to beat them to the one after that, loop you around that one, then lead you back to the one they skipped...
And then, once you've finally caught up to them, no you actually didn't, because one of their friends shows up to bodyblock and then run back to their boon totem, and THEN, after that, if you ######### up baiting out the looper's Dead Hard, you're doing it all over again.
If someone really, really knows how to loop, you're not catching them in a timely manner with an M1 killer. It's not even a skill issue; you're just not doing it at all without every gen popping during chase.
Instead, it's best to just use those people to get rid of a few pallets, go back and pressure gens, and then just try to catch them off-guard in a dead zone later on, and even then, STBFL and/or Bamboozle are almost obligatory.
-
I fired up my fresh EGS account for the first time a few days ago, and when I started, I could just 4K every match at 4 gens as Trapper with no perks or addons or even using any beartraps.
Switch back to Steam, and I can run the sweatiest builds on my best killers, and some games are just rough.
I'm not sure exactly how MMR works, but it does seem to be working. No complaints on my end.

@GensByDaylight said:
How many hackers have you seen in your games today?
Auto Dead hards? Speed hacks? Minimap? Gen speed increase?
I had one game today where I honestly wasn't sure. They might just have been godlike survivors, but they got the flashlight save EVERY time. They waited it out when I tried to bait out their Dead Hard and got their extra health state at just the right moment EVERY single time.
I admit I wasn't playing my best, mostly because I should have stopped rationalizing to myself that "oh, they definitely won't be following me THIS time. That'd be one time too many. There's just no need to check around for the bastard with the flashlight or face a wall."
I didn't see that they were overtly cheating, but I started wondering during the next game when the next squad was trying all the same tactics and failing, and I stomped them.
@HugTheHag said:
I haven't seen a cheater since June, when I started playing.
I've only had one instance in my 2+ entire career obsessively playing the game where the cheating has actually been obvious. I guess it's more common at extremely high MMR where most cheaters will eventually end up for obvious reasons.
That doesn't apply to the mobile game, mind. Every other game has a Meg running around at 200% speed on Android.

I agree. Let's get rid of gens. And the exit gates, too.

What killer is going to opt to go against a SWF? I’m sorry but it’s just a bad idea. SWF would absolutely never get matches. Lots of players like easy games, so most killers would just decline. Hell, most killers will still dodge NOW if they even remotely suspect a SWF.
Not me. I see SWFs as a chance to improve my skill. And destroying a good SWF feels awesome.
Now, if I have a lobby where I suspect an SWF, I might switch to an ultra-sweaty build that I keep holstered on the side for the occasion...
@SmolBlob said:
People need to get over themselves. SWF doesn’t inherently mean good, and you can also use the fact they have communication against them by misleading them. It also makes them way more predictable than solo queue players who might do just about anything. Get better at playing against coordinated players, or don’t queue for killer. Or just accept you aren’t that good and accept that you’ll lose matches.
Yeah, but "just about anything" means "spend the first five minutes searching for dull totems and looting the basement chest" half the time, or just doing dailies.
But yeah, bad SWFs are easy to stomp. I realized that the only reason people think that facecamping is an effective strategy is these types of groups. They'd rather let everyone in their team get hook traded to death rather than leave someone on hook for longer than two minutes. Others will follow you around with flashlights and toolboxes all game instead of doing gens.
But really good SWFs know how to chain all the loops in the map into one giant mega-structure while the others slam out gens and then hide if they hear you coming. Heal immediately. Know exactly when and how to use DH, to the point where it's almost as awful as it ever was. Can multi-stack Hyperfocus while running a BNP and Prove Thyself.
I can handle a lot of SWFs even as an M1 killer main, but those types are hard. Thankfully, I don't run into them often.

Can Sadako still moonwalk survivors to death?
@Phasmamain said:
She’s average unless you do the condemnation strategy which is definitely effective but not healthy for her kit imo. I’d rather buff her current abilities and nerf that strategy
Also kill rates mean next to nothing. If we’re to go off of them Pinhead is the best killer in the game and nurse is the worst
I haven't played her nearly as much since the meta changes, but I don't think this is accurate. The condemnation strategy is overrated. Her real strengths are exactly what OP pointed out: she has undetectable and can teleport rapidly. If you know how to use this to your advantage, you can, with the right build, take gens out just as fast as survivors are able to get them going.
She's absolutely vicious in a three-gen situation, and her power lets her treat the last three gens as a functional three-gen no matter where on the map they happen to end up.
@GoodBoyKaru said:

lmao
I never run anything on her other than her brown and yellow cooldown add-ons (maybe the iri one on occasion).
Either way, you can still check every gen on the map in rapid succession. You may occasionally have to walk to one instead of teleporting, but unlike her weaker cousin Dredge, hooks near her teleport locations aren't blocked, so you can happily hook someone, run over to a gen and kick it with Pop (actually still a decent perk on Sadako), then teleport back as someone is going for the save.
(Playing with a scumbag works well with her, too, even more than it does with most killers. If you're not above proxy camping and tunneling, she can pull some pretty mean tricks.)

Clown is countered by someone dropping a pallet in your face. If you use a yellow bottle you will still have a hard time managing to catch the said survivor w/o Brutal Strength. Clown has no strong map mobility.
In the same scenario Sadako has a better power to confuse the survivor in the loop by losing line of sight and in the situation of survivor camping the pallet in a jungle gym or shack with no way around. Turn manifested and teleport all across the map for target switch with takes roughly 5 seconds, start another chase and get another down (surely if not a down, at least hits and pressure, split survivors apart or off the gens).
Fully bypasssed.
I've heard lots about Sadako's supposed mindgame abilities, but I've never been able to figure out how to get that to work myself, and I'm beginning to think it's mostly bunk. I think it's a little strange to argue that Clown has worse anti-chase when that's his whole kit. Ending chases is the only thing Clown is good at. Sadako, not so much, but your first hit is usually free with her.
@Canas said:
She's still an awful killer to play as, the only thing which boosts her killrate is the usage of her two best addons combined with a specific playstyle. Beyond that she's sadly dogwater.
Before streamers starting making these condemned videos in the past few months, it was "Oh, condemned isn't even a mechanic. You can just ignore it the entire game and waltz on out the gates." (Not wrong.)
People just parrot whatever is popular on the forums and in YouTube videos. I seriously doubt that Sadako's high killrate is carried exclusively by a niche playstyle, and I doubt even more that most of the people saying she's weak have spent any time playing as her or trying out different playstyles to see what works.. Playing for condemned isn't easy, and it's easy to counter if you switch up your strategy.
Hot take: condemned still sucks unless you spend all of your time practicing on how to play for it, and her strongest playstyle is slowdown + tunneling.
@Brimp said:
"Walking undetectable" Yeah sure bud.
It works on more people than you'd think, especially if they're on gens.
Manifesting and demanifesting in chase wastes precious seconds and is bad, whatever anyone here on the forums says, but manifesting just as you're running up to a gen will actually get you some nice hits.
-
@Rudjohns said:
If you are playing a game just to have fun, why getting a kill is so important then?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that was OP's point. If he had gotten a 0K and the survivors were decent about it, we wouldn't be reading this thread.
@Firellius said:
The real reason is because they're very effective, low-effort strategies.
Though survivors being sore winners certainly doesn't help matters.
Depending on who you're playing as and who you're playing against, it's not low-effort so much as your only chance to win.
Once you get into higher MMRs with a killer like Ghostface, almost every game is a nasty fight. If you didn't run 3-4 slowdown perks, then all the gens pop before you can really do enough, and if you didn't run 3-4 anti-chase perks, chases take forever (and gens are probably still popping if you didn't run any passive slowdown).
You can still win without camping/tunneling in some games, but if survivors are on coms and really know how to loop, your best bet is to knock one out ASAP and hope the others make mistakes.
-
-
I dunno. I haven't played any games as survivor on DBD mobile yet, but killer is objectively horrible.
You did completely miss the point of my post, though, which was that killers who complain about regular DBD don't have it nearly as bad as they think they do.

I mean, I really shouldn't have to go into detail.
But for anyone not aware, the report system tracks the pre game lobby and end game lobby. Thats it. Whatever happens during the match means nothing, UNLESS you have video proof. 99% of us are not streamers or youtubers, we do not record gameplay or footage for 'content'. We simply load the game up and play. Hoping for some good matches.
But when you come across players either sandbagging their teammates, griefing as in slugging the 4th person for no other reason than they teabagged you once, etc..it feels pretty bad knowing you can do nothing about them because the game doesn't track what happens in a match, only before and after.
I just had a match where it was me and a Claudette, our other mates had just died. Against a Blight. She ended up doing the 3 remaining gens and I found out why pretty quickly, lol. The Blight just wanted me. Ran into the Claudette and she was pointing at me repeatedly. Killer noticed. Killer caught and killed me. Both just stood around me on hook, then he let the Claudette leave.
In end-game chat, Claudette boasted she wouldn't be banned, claiming she'll be 'waiting for a ban oh nooo', essentially confirming they know the report system is awful and they can get away with how they play.
Gonna be running Geforce in-game overlay before every match from now on, so I can report w/ video proof. Tired of schmucks getting away with playing like awful teammates and then bragging about it in end-game chat cause they know nothing will happen w/o video proof and most people don't record.
Sorry, slight rant.
Doesn't sound like anything bannable to me.
Slugging the fourth person definitely isn't bannable. You can slug to your heart's content and no one is going to get banned, even with video evidence.
I don't think Claudette merely pointing at the hook and failing to unhook you is bannable, either. It's a dick move, sure, but unless she was actively helping the killer find you, I don't think it's illegal.

Bring the survivor to the basement and enjoy downing the rescuers ( usually 2 persons)
Wouldn't STBFL or Insidious be better than a detection perk? With STBFL, they're not going to get the save at all once you're fully stacked, and you can generally down one before they make it out of the shack even if you have half stacks and the survivor is hooked on the hook closest to the door.
And then, with Insidious, you can just stand on the stairs and wait for someone to come. Smart survivors will just do gens and avoid the basement if they hear TR any time they come close. Granted, a lot of SWFs will just to go for saves, anyway - it's their biggest weakness.
Forced Penance is also devastating on these types of builds.

What I mean is end game starts and your at the exit it full opened by the way so why not just leave. Everyone is alive and healthy your all at the exit so why not just leave oh I see because your teabagging...okay then why are you not being punished for not leaving or not doing anything. Simple if a teammate is injured usually you heal at the exit gate for bonus BP but why aren't survivors punished for not doing anything at the exit gate just standing there flashlight spamming or teabagging I would like to know why. A killer is punished for standing next to a survivor and not moving standing at the exit gate and not moving is basically the same thing so why aren't survivors punished for it a killer loses BP for it so survivors should get the same or something else.
Wesker and Tombstone Piece Myers are the best for dealing with this.
I agree that we need a perk to punish this specifically, however. Maybe something that activates 10 seconds after the exit gates are opened (so that it won't allow the killer to set up unwinnable plays like survivors could with old DS) blocks the exit gates for 15/20/25 seconds once the killer comes within 8m of an exit gate (8m so that survivors can't just wait until the second before the killer steps into the exit gates to run).
I've got a game going right now where my Wraith is just sitting in the corner of the basement and has been for a couple of minutes after a decisive win.

That being said, just move on from post game chat that turn sour cause there's no use to sticking around. I'll typically say nothing or a quick GG with some compliment or sharing of something funny in the match to test the waters. It's a toss up whether other people get salty or actually respond like reasonable adults. It does make the more chill or supportive post game chats really special between players.
This. I always respond with a "gg" and let survivors dictate where the chat goes from there. If they wanna talk trash, I'll oblige. If they say "gg" or want to strike up a friendly convo, that's great, too.

I got to play video games on the go with my phone and a bluetooth controller. I got to play games that my computer isn't good enough to play or that don't support my operating system. I got to play CP2077 before everyone else because Stadia was the only platform it actually worked on upon launch, and I got a free controller and Chromecast with the purchase. And they had the best technology of any game streaming service.
And, in the end, it was all free. I'm getting every cent I ever spent on Stadia refunded, and I still get to keep all of the hardware, ESO/DBD progress, and DLC that I paid for using it.

Cross-progression with Steam is a thing, but you may have to wait for it to be reactivated. I enabled it by linking my accounts to my BHVR account as soon as I got the game, but apparently it was broken for a while.

Epic is garbage. Scummy business practices and bad consumer support.
Now, the good thing about Epic is that they give free games, and some of those are legitimately good. But they go out of their way to not support Linux, which means that even games that have native Linux binaries on Steam don't have native Linux binaries on Epic, so I've actually bought games on Steam that I've gotten for free on Epic just because the Linux binaries are available.
I also bought Evil Dead from them (first and last purchase from Epic, let me tell you) at full price on release date, which is something I never do, and a few months later, the game added added EAC, and since Epic refuses to support Linux, I don't get to play anymore unless I want to use GFN, which has horrible input lag on that game. And I can't even refund it at this point.
So now I get to buy Evil Dead at full price again from Steam, which does allow its EAC games to offer Proton support, in a year or so if I want to play it at all.
I gave 'em a chance. I'd advise you to learn from my experience and not do the same. Buy the stuff on Steam. Take Epic's free stuff and buy an exclusive if you absolutely have to, but that didn't work out for me.

It shouldn't?
On very rare occasions, I've had a DC register a few seconds into the match, but nowhere close to two minutes.

Its because MMR doesnt actually work and here's why.
Eventually every player will get to soft cap MMR. (Lets call this number 1600 for now)
So now we are all at 1600 MMR we can still earn more MMR and go up.
As its easier to earn than lose MMR (or so we are told and how it seems) then it means you will likely stay at soft cap and above indefinatly.
This means that even if you have 10000 MMR you will be match randomly with anyone 1600+ which will mean you can be matched against the best killer in the world or the worst as long as they reached soft cap MMR.
Scott Jund actually summed this up at the start of his video really well its worth a look.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5u1bWJtT_nM&ab_channel=ScottJund
It's harder to lose MMR that to earn it? Do we have any information about this? Is there a cap on how much you can lose, or will you go back down to the equivalent of brown ranks if you AFK 1000 games or something?

Devs, not only DbD, shouldn't be forced to do this, just to run a game on Deck.
I don't know what fictions are being tossed around about EAC these days, but it no longer requires the newer versions of EAC with EOS to allow for Linux support. Epic now allows you to use the older versions of EAC with Proton by simply opting in with a button.
Perhaps DBD started migration to the newer version of EAC before Epic reversed their decision and allowed that to happen, but it's not necessary anymore.
I think the real issue is that getting it Steam Deck Verified™ is not easy, and they're not content to just silently enable EAC support in the background. They want a big, official announcement, and they probably have to have a lot of business meetings and discussions before it can happen. It's sadly obviously not their biggest priority, but they're working on it, as evidenced by the fact that Linux EAC libraries now exist for DBD, even if they're not functional.

But they're not being forced. The community requested it, Behavior agreed to support it. But its been a year, so we as a community are frustrated that they've seemingly put us to the back of the queue. They're a business at the end of the day and since they don't seem to care too much about supporting the deck/linux in general, they need to hear our frustration, otherwise it'll just never happen.
I agree. Some of the mods seem to be getting annoyed by these threads, but I think the last official response anyone got was something along the lines of, "If enough people want it, it will happen," so we need to keep pushing these threads in the meantime to let them know that it's important to some of us.
At least they should allow us to run DBD in a VM if they won't enable support yet for whatever reason. I've heard that DBD's EAC kicks you out if you try to run it in a virtual machine, and there are ways to hide the fact from EAC by making the VM look like bare metal to the OS, but it's not worth risking my account to try,

Pig's doing okay now, Onryo is coasting on a gimmick that will almost certainly get nerfed (rendering her bottom tier), Dredge and Wesker have some insane addons, Plague is a monster at high MMRs, Cenobite can snowball, Oni is great with a massive skill cap etc.
Freddy though...
This guy is insane versus solos and solid at high MMRs and I don't get why.
He's one of my 'easy' killers to go up against, his traversal has a forever cooldown and is highly telegraphed, his addons are craptacular and his anti loop is laughable.
Why is he doing so well?
I don't play him very often, but when I do, I always run something like Pop/Brine/Eruption/PR, and I always use the dream pallets. It's fairly effective, but I don't play him enough to raise my MMR.
The reason that Sadako's kill rate is so high isn't because people have finally figured out how to play for condemned (unless you're talking about moonwalking - was that ever nerfed?) so much as the fact that she has such high mobility, and it's the same reason why Freddy is halfway decent. The above build is even more oppressive on Sadako than on Freddy if you're using the brown and yellow addons that decrease teleport cooldown.
I don't think people realize what a big deal it is that you can hook someone, immediately zip all the way across the map and go kick a gen/injure someone and then pop right back as the original survivor is getting unhooked.

Yes, that's the correct form. You can attach one or several files but beware, they don't allow very big file sizes, unfortunately. I usually cut the obvious sequences together and reduce quality to make the file size smaller.
If you already have the video online somewhere (like clips from a stream) you could probably just link back to them.
Thank you.

I love how everyone in this thread is trying to hard to cope with Sadako's 5% statistics with comments like, "Oh, but that's probably just because there are ten good Sadako players in higher MMR, but then there are 1000 bad Blight players" or whatever.
Did you all miss the part where she's one of the top-performing killers in all MMRs? Is it possible that you were just wrong, and Sadako is actually a decent killer to begin with?

Freddy and Sadako play about the same so I'm not surprised. Same with the nurse. I'd like to see them do this with survival rates though. At least a breakdown of survival rates between top MMR and everyone else.
A percentage is a fraction of 100, so, for example, Sadako's 61% kill rate means that she kills 61 out of 100 survivors (I TOLD YOU! I ######### TOLD YOU ALL!).
So if you take that number and subtract it from 100, you get the survival rate for that killer, which is 39/100, or 39%. Look here for more information: https://study.com/academy/lesson/percentages-lesson-for-kids.html

There’s actually a bunch of P 100 now. But p level don’t equal skill lvl.
I know that there are a bunch of people who have P100, but I've only ever seen two or three, suspicious Nancy included. I wouldn't have thought anything of it if I'd even been able to hit her once. I mean, I'd go right up to her and swing, and it would miss every single time. Did I have the worst luck in the world, or was she really that good, or was it something else?

I disagree. I can totally see a serial killer running around in a joke mask and taunting someone with catchphrases as he murders them.
I support this idea.

I just had match of Wesker where i was called a subtle cheater for having perks and cosmetics?
I need some info on this, is having cosmetics and having perks considered cheating now? Did I miss something?
They said they reported me, but hopefully this is just a troll, right?
I need some help on this, GoobyNugget.
It's just hard to tell sometimes.
The other day, I had a game against a Nancy that I absolutely couldn't hit, no matter what I did. I mean, I missed 10 hits in a row at one point, and it cost me the game because I spent the last two gens and the EGC just trying to down her.
Didn't help that she was prestige 100, and when I first saw her in the lobby, I couldn't help but think, "Almost nobody has prestige 100. Did she cheat to get that?"
Maybe she was just an insanely good, untouchable prestige 100 monster, but I'm sure some of those hits should've connected. I'm sure.

It's just never gonna sit right with me, 360ing. The fact that skilled players get caught off guard by it on a regular basis speaks volumes. Why should we have to learn to counter a survivor spinning in front of us? It's beyond stupid. Maybe the game should have more generous survivor hitboxes, or not have aim dressing, or have better killer fov.
I don't disagree, but at least you can learn to counter 360ing in DBD to some degree. In VHS, trying to spin with the survivor and backing up while hitting don't work. 360ing is the main reason I haven't been playing that game.

I doubt anyone asking for balance game around 3 v 1 but better matchmaking will help. 1500 hours players should not be team with 200 hours players.
I don't think the number of hours should be the deciding factor or even that you should make any inferences as to skill based on number of hours played.
I have 1600 hours on Stadia and maybe 200 on Steam. I'll have to switch back to Steam eventually, but I'll still be keeping all of the perks/prestiges I've unlocked, SBMM, and my ability to play the game.
Likewise, someone with 100 hours on Steam might have 7000 hours on PS4. You never know.

Clearly my team mates with 100 hours should not be dealing with nurses and blights then. The only time solo q is enjoyable for me is in cross off when everyone on my team has over 1k hours. Even though I mostly face nurses and blights there, at least my team knows what they're doing.
Well, I had a really weird day today.
I played seven survivor games and escaped all seven. Only three of those were hatch. I've never even come close to that kind of ratio. I'm not even sure I've survived seven games in a row before 6.1.0.
I also lost most of my killer games. What the hell is going on with me today? Are we in some kind of retrograde?

DS being disabled at endgame is honestly all that was needed. It didn't need to be nerfed from 5s to 3s, and in fact it could stand to gain a second use, so that it can be used with each unhook, and therefore potential be a true tunnelling deterrent, as the killer could already know you have DS from the first unhook.
Ruin isn't even the start of it, 6.1 nerfed all of the healthy killer perks that incentivised not camping and tunnelling, and buffed perks that don't have that effect.
I agree with this. I personally don't care that it was nerfed to 3s (since I mostly play killer and never ran it as a survivor in the first place), but it did need to be deactivated during the endgame.
Ruin either needs to have its hex status removed, get buffed back to 200%, or it needs to no longer deactivate when someone dies. It was the most oppressive killer perk in the game when combined with Undying, but now it's flat-out useless.

I just don’t understand why some people feel so entitled as to flat-out bully killers.
I’m never going to complain about ‘gen rushing’ because I know that’s the survivor’s objective and like… what else are they supposed to do?
But I constantly get put into games where I’m t-bagged, looped and spun around 24/7. And I’m not an experienced player in ANY sense, I don’t know how to counter them.
Even with Bamboozle and Unbreakable to deal with loops I always miss my hits because of their 10000% sensitivity that allows them to spin around like ######### tornadoes.
I know I sound a little pathetic, I’m not even really asking for anything, I just wish I could enjoy killers more.
Getting 360'd is one of the most annoying things about playing killer in this game (and the game I just played had me missing 5 or 6 hits in a row at one point before I remembered to counter - was still a 4K), but you can learn how to get around it. The key is to bait them out like you would an old Dead Hard, and then, after they try their little 360, back up slightly, aim low (the hitbox is weighted more towards the floor), and do a basic (not lunge) attack by tapping the key or controller quickly instead of holding it.
Takes a little practice, but you'll get the hang of it.
Once you've figured how to do that, you'll be excited to see bully squads in the lobby, because if their main focus is annoying you, their main focus is not on doing the gens.
Tip: Tunnel, tunnel, tunnel. The most important thing you can do against groups like this (especially SWFs) is to just get someone out of the game as soon as possible. Some people consider it scummy, but it's not like the survivors care about whether or or not you're having fun.
Another tip: when it's a true bully squad, facecamp the ######### out of them. Not just to punish them, but because squads like this can't help but go for the rescue over and over again even if you're having a round-the-clock staring contest with their hooked buddy, and if you're running Forced Penance and STBFL (like I was these last few games), you can knock their game completely off-balance for the rest of the match in the process of trading a hook or two, leading to an easy win.
@tippy2k2 said:
Unfortunately there's not a ton you can do about it until you either get the experience you need to know how to handle them. Nine times out of ten, your best weapon against a bully squad is slugging and patrolling the slugged person. It sucks, it's tedious as hell, and it's super boring but a lot of times it's all you can really do against them.
It's not very useful advice but all you can do is try not to let them get to you. If that means you have to just walk away from the game in the middle of it and let them bully each other instead, so be it. I know it's frowned upon to go AFK but if they're gonna be jerks and not actually play the game and just try to beat you down instead, F'em, walk away. Ideally you can just play and not let it bug you but I know from experience that is WAY easier said than done.
I find that it's usually better to get them on hooks and facecamp them. If they're really a bully squad, they're going to be following you around with flashlights, so either be careful and look at walls when you pick up or else smack them (slug if necessary, but not necessarily systematically) until they run away to heal and then hook.
Thing is, half of them are going to be running Unbreakable (For the People isn't too uncommon, either), and hooks work much faster than slugging at getting someone out of a match (which should be your primary goal, ASAP, against a bully squad). They also feel more of a need to respond to hooks than slugs, and they'll go for the stupidest saves even if you're straight-up facecamping, even though they might not try to heal someone out of the dying state right in front of you seeing how you can just put the other survivor back on the ground immediately and maybe injured them in the process.
Slugging is also going to be a bad habit to get into going forward since Unbreakable is going to be basekit eventually.
Their ego is the biggest weapon you can use against them. They feel entitled to every save and confident that they'll get every unhook and walk away clean.

People who don't play this game for 7000 hours don't know the exact meta placements of every killer, unbelievable.
One might argue that if someone doesn't understand the meta placements of the killers, they shouldn't claim that they do and then go write an article about it for a major gaming publication. That's why this is funny, Gramps.
@Science_Guy said:
It's not as terrible as you guys are saying. Quite a few of the placements are correct as far as what tiers the killers generally belong. The author clearly isn't someone with a lot of experience though. However, they definitely understand some things about the game. You could do a lot worse. I still remember an IGN article for Civilization IV that rated the only faction so utterly and undeniably overpowered that it was banned from competitive play as the worst in the game. In comparison, this doesn't seem so bad.
I'd be inclined to agree with you if the worst killer in the entire game wasn't listed as A-tier.

I don't remember the list or have a link but Myers was very top and nurse was very bottom
I watched it, and Nurse was listed as 7th out of the top 10, and Michael was 3rd or 4th. Spirit was at the very top.
It was a horrible tier list, though, and not just for the list itself so much as the guy making it claiming to be "obsessed with Dead by Daylight, so everybody who likes DBD please subscribe" when his gameplay footage showed him playing killers with one yellow and one green perk, and then he tried to write the criticism of his list off in the comments as "sorry, the gameplay footage was old" as if the main problem was the gameplay footage and not the fact that he clearly didn't know anything at all about the game.

I say gg when the game was fun for me.
As a killer, I'll say it almost exclusively when I win, but I'll sometimes say it after a loss if the game was thrilling and the survivors didn't seem obnoxious. I'll also say it if a survivor says it to me and it doesn't come off as mocking.
I don't take survivor nearly as seriously, so I'll say it frequently, even if I lose.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Stephen king books, all these other horror franchises, but something I don't see is people talk about this authors monster's. Off the top of my head, I could imagine the werewolf of fever swamp would be a cool edition to dbd since I know alot of people who have been wanting a werewolf killer in dbd. There are so many potential killer's in his universe's that im so surprised BHVR (or the community) haven't really gave thought about his work. I'd personally love to see a chapter with his monster's, let me know what you guys think down below if an R.L stine crossover could potentially work and what monster you'd like to see in the game.
If it did happen, it'd be Slappy.
Of course, it won't happen, because Goosebumps is a horror franchise, and Dead by Daylight isn't interested in those. In order to get licensed for DBD, it needs to be an anime, a crossover with a more popular non-horror video game, a sci-fi Netflix series, or a Resident Evil character.

That's weird. I consider myself a good survivor. I have over 6k hours in the game and easily 5k of those are solo q, yet I am winning around 25% of my games.
Not sure what you mean with "MMR doing its thing" because I keep getting 100 hour survivors in my lobby, or even less and those hide their hours.
So it really is difficult to believe when someone says they have an almost 100% escape rate in solo q, and then say they mostly play killer.
I never said I had "almost 100%". Stop putting words in my mouth. I said that it's maybe a little bit less than fifty. Every other game is 50%. And it might not be exactly 50%, but I'm escaping enough games that I don't feel uncomfortable when I play.
I played three games this morning. I escaped one out of the three (and the first one didn't count because I had to go AFK because my pasta was boiling over).
I think the thing that helps my survival rate the most is just doing gens. In a lot of solo games, I do three out of the five, because everyone else wants to do other things. I definitely feel like I have to do the heavy lifting there, but it is what it is. You don't do gens, you don't live.
Maybe the fact that you're a good survivor actually affects your survival rate in a negative way. I'm at mid-MMR at best as survivor, so I don't have to deal with Nurse and Blight every other game.
-
@Marigoria said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3217403#Comment_3217403
You're escaping every game in solo q? do you stream by any chance? would love to see how you play to achieve that.
You misread. I said every other game. And yeah, it's pretty close to that. Maybe a little less, but not that much.
I don't stream. I'm not even a good survivor or anything. I'm getting pretty good at killer, but most of the survivors I play against as killer can pull tricks I couldn't even dream of. I just think that MMR is doing its job; I seem to be as likely to escape as I am to die.
I haven't done any math, but open exit gates have definitely become a more common sight lately.

This last week every time I play against an Onryo they have all done the same tactic over and over again and it’s getting ridiculous.
With constant teleporting to tvs, addons that give comdemned when doing actions, tv placements on maps being completely inconsistent, and Onryo slugging on top of it all, has been a nightmare to face.
They try to go for full condemned which I’m not saying is bad, but they slug is the problem. Plus the tvs are too rng dependent and way too close together or apart. I had two tvs right next to one Gen and after teleporting to both got two levels of condemned off.
On top of that, inserting a tape doesn’t interrupt the Onryo teleporting at all. Do if you’re right at the tv ready to insert the tape, nothing stops her from teleporting.
In my opinion, the addons that apply condemning to healing shouldn’t apply if they’re downed. The slugging is just annoying at this point. Can they also please fix the tv rng, every Onryo I have faced has been like this and it’s getting completely unfun to face
Thanks for the ideas. I'll have to give this playstyle a try.
-
I run it on gen builds occasionally. The benefit is that you can stop gens that already have a lot of progress from regressing instead of starting on a completely different generator across the map. It increases efficiency.
It's not a meta perk or anything, but it can win games in the right circumstances.
