Still no survivor buffs to make it better. That's why.
Survivor buffs are not needed. They’ve already heavily buffed the 2v8 perks and made it much easier for the survivor role compared to normal 1v4 mode to incentivize more people to play survivor. I play both sides and I’m fine with that because getting more people to choose survivor role is badly needed in 2v8. Last 2v8 I had >50% escape rate playing solo queue and I’m a very average-skilled player. The killer queues are always longer in 2v8 because a lot of people want to play killer role for a unique experience compared to 1v4, especially with friends. It’s not because survivor role in 2v8 is too hard.
What was your escape rate in the last 2v8? -

LOL I love how you get a bunch of downvotes simply for showing a picture that doesn’t align with some people’s preferred narrative. Would love to hear explanations for the downvotes but I’m expecting none will come

Is this feeling or based on facts?Feeling. As others have mentioned, the people who says this frequently have extremely high kill ratings.
My personal theory is that no one wants to win a game that is tilted in their favor, so people have to say its tilted in survivors favor, otherwise having a good kill rate isn't nearly as impressive.

Do you have links to any of the YouTube videos where CCs are saying this? That would at least let us see what arguments they are making to back up this claimThe naming and shaming policy on this forum is pretty strict. Posting a CCs video on the forum and attacking it is walking on dangerous territory, so we're left talking about things generally unless someone starts the discussion with a positive post.
Has anyone gotten in trouble for posting a YouTube video link? That doesn’t seem like “naming and shaming” to me, but I don’t make the rules here so it would probably be good to get clarification from a mod. It’s kind of difficult to have a discussion about this when nobody is showing 1) what claims the CCs are making and 2) what specific points in their game experience are backing up these claims
-
I was playing last night around 9:00PM local time and I had instant killer queues. The killer queue times were much longer than normal when Jason came out, but have slowly started getting back to normal since then. Anyway, I don’t agree that killer side is in the “worst state ever”. Do you have links to any of the YouTube videos where CCs are saying this? That would at least let us see what arguments they are making to back up this claim

Play solo queue.
You'll get tunneled and camped so much you'll realize the control of being the killer makes it a lot more peaceful.
OP was asking for advice about playing killer, not playing survivor. Do you have any killer experience that can actually help them out?

Pretty sure MMR is out of wack rn, I've been going against players with three hours in the game whilst I have 3 thousand
That’s been happening to me for years. Nothing new
-
The matchmaking system does not work, period. Every match that I am in is ironclad evidence of this. I’ll be matched with multiple thousand hour god-level players one match and then literal new players the next. BHVR can say whatever they want about it supposedly working as intended, but the real world evidence convulsively proves otherwise
-
The matchmaking system is non-functional so you will be matched with/against players of random experience and skill level every match.

If increasing the penalty once didn't reduce DCs, increasing it again won't suddenly start working. You can't punish frustration, crashes, or hopeless matches. Increasing punishment only hits the symptoms, not the cause. If the causes stay the same, the behavior stays the same.
It's like raising the volume on a broken speaker; turning it up won't make it louder. We've already seen this with games with DC penalties; past a certain point, harsher punishments only increase resentment, not compliance. Players who want to leave will still leave, and players who crash will still crash. The only real solution is addressing why people DC in the first place.
The whole point is keeping these people from playing the game so they can’t ruin matches for the majority of players who can handle a bad match like an adult and not rage quit. Longer penalties keeps them out of more matches and that is the entire point.
DC penalties are not meant to solve people’s frustrations with the game. That is an impossible task because some people will always have a reason to get mad no matter how many perceived frustrations are resolved by the devs. Some people just can’t handle losing and those people simply need to be kept out of PvP game lobbies. There are thousands of single player games out there for them to rage quit to their heart’s content without hurting the experience of other human players. -

100% agree. This game mode is terrible and hope it never comes back. I understand that there are some who enjoy it. I just don’t know what % of players actually like it. Based on community feedback, it seems fairly low.
-
It would be nice to have more attention on old content, but likely not going to happen. BHVR already spend way too little time updating older content, and the mountain of old content is only growing larger with every new chapter. It’s not like they are hiring more people to manage it, so the problem is only going to continue to get worse.

BHVR as comfirmed a MMR rework is in the works so I dont really see why the negativity about a system people have been asking for since before the game even had SBMM.
Its not like its a random system BHVR is adding its something ALOT of players wanted. This supposed “in the works” MMR rework has been “in the works” for years now with absolutely no indication that it’s coming anytime soon. BHVR could have prioritized this years ago but they decided it wasn’t a priority. So I take anything they say about it being “in the works” to be meaningless

survivors cry about solo queue devs add something to help solo queue nobody cares for it all of a sudden so ungrateful
Am I allowed to have the opinion that there are far bigger problems for BHVR to address and not be accused of being “ungrateful”?
-
The intention is great, but honestly I have low expectations. A chat wheel isn’t going to prevent me from continually being matched with brand new players, my teammates getting downed 5 seconds after chase starts, teammates hiding/blessing totems/being generally useless all match, etc. Matchmaking and skill measurement are a far bigger problem than solo queue communication, yet BHVR continue to ignore this far bigger problem. I won’t get excited about anything in this game until BHVR address the real problem.
-
The DC penalty needs to be more harsh, IMO. I’m fine with one daily freebie to account for occasional connection issues/crashes, but it’s clear that the punishment is not harsh enough with the number of DCs I see from survivors who leave after they first get downed even when the match is going well for the survivor team. These kinds of players need to be given extremely long, if not permanent, timeouts. The fact that I usually get more downvotes than upvotes when I say this tells you everything you need to know why this continues to be a problem - way too many players continue to feel entitled to leave the match at any time for any reason without punishment.

My opinion? Stop trying to force people to play games when they clearly aren't having fun. Don't force a killer to play with a bully squad. Don't force a survivor to play with a killer tunneling and slugging at 5 gens. Anti-quit was supposed to make the game "better", but in reality all it does is make people miserable.
What would your proposed solution be? “Fun” is extremely subjective and players can claim they are not having fun for the most trivial reasons. I don’t know how it would be possibly to engineer a solution around something so subjective.

I don't understand why were trying to remove people from the community who are just trying to play the game. God forbid you have bad internet or don't live in the server rooms. If anything people should be annoyed at the way the game is coded, plus I'm sure it will be fixed with the upcoming recode. Right..?
Because they are ruining the game for a lot of other people, that’s why. I don’t understand why some here are OK with a few people with bad connections making the game experience terrible for everyone else. This wouldn’t be an issue if the person with the bad connection was punished - let them play the game if they want then - but that’s not the case in DbD. People with bad connections often get a competitive advantage from it.
-
I played it once the first time it came out and hated it. I’d be fine if it never came back again.
-
Who said survivors are “so OP”?
-
Ideally showing gameplay would be great, but that’s pretty burdensome. For me personally, to take opinions about balance seriously, I like to see evidence that the person has a good amount of experience playing both sides. I can at least respect an opinion that I disagree with if I know that the person understands how their proposed changes would impact the other side. There are a lot of demands for buffs or nerfs from people who clearly only play one side and usually they just ignore you if you ask if they play both sides. IMO you can’t have a fair/objective opinion about balance if you have no perspective about how your proposed changes would negatively impact the other side.

You should just be able to see everyone's pings in the lobby before it starts and decide if you want to play then.
It's the most obvious solution and entirely doable by BHVR, but I can only imagine that there's profit in it so they won't do it and don't care otherwise.I fully agree with this. They won’t do it because the people who have unfair ping advantage (either because they are far away from a server or abusing VPN) would be constantly dodged and then wouldn’t play they game anymore and thus also wouldn’t spend money on the game. It’s all about $ and BHVR does not care if it’s creating a bad/unfair experience for the majority of players who aren’t playing with super high ping.
-
Yep agree any survivors who are using their free Borrowed Time to bodyblock are totally fair game for tunneling if they want to play that way. Play the way you want and don’t worry about what anyone says in endgame chat. Some people are sore losers and will be toxic no matter how you play.

I’ve been playing this game for a really long time and noticed here recently that we have a big problem with some killers. No matter if you’re in a swf it’s still hard to beat them. Ex: chucky, knight, trickster, these killers that are stated are so awful to go against I always get 4 manned slugged no matter what and just lowers the fun I have for the game. Playing against a knight is so mindless you don’t even have to be some what decent to play him it’s a zero skill killer and his cool down is so fast it’s impossible to loop for more than 20 seconds.
None of those killers you mention are even near the top of any killer tier list I’ve ever seen. I’m a very casual player and I have no problem against any of these killers. Respectfully, it sounds like this is an issue on your end because all the killers you mentioned are rarely if ever mentioned as problematic here or anywhere else in the community.
Just curious - have you ever tried playing as any of these killers? If so, can you share your kill rates with them? -
Pub stomp? What? Spirit is fine. Have you ever tried playing as her? It’s not as easy as you might think. She’s good in the right hands, but takes quite a while to get good at.
-
This kind of thing happens all the time even in normal game mode. I have well over 2,000 hours and regularly get matched with literal brand new players in solo queue lobbies, and it’s not due to lobby backfilling. The matchmaking system is simply non-functional
-
I’m personally glad Pinhead is gone. Terrible killer design that is too easily countered with SWF on comms but too oppressive against solo queue that can’t coordinate.
-
Lights Out is terrible for both sides. I strongly disliked it the one time played it and will never touch it again.
-
I play both sides and completely disagree with this. The killer role is fine. If you’re not having fun as killer in the Lights Out mode, just don’t play it.
-
Honestly I don’t know why anyone plays this mode whether it’s killer or survivor. I played it once when it first came out and then never again. I have a feeling when most people play it again they’ll remember why BHVR waited so long to bring it back again.

This perk is only used in like coordinated swfs its never used in soloq yet killers complain its some god perk
That’s not true at all. I have used it quite often in solo queue. I haven’t lately as I change up my main build every so often, but I found it to be a great anti-tunnel perk in my solo queue matches.
-
I play killer quite a bit and I almost never see this perk anymore. If it’s OP, then why is it used so infrequently?
-
DbD has always been in the dinosaur age compared to other games when it comes to graphics settings and other options. But player count is at all-time high and BHVR have no incentive to spend resources on improving the settings options as long as they’re not losing players.
-
That’s why it’s called Chaos Shuffle! You’re supposed to play with the cards you’re dealt and so sometimes you get screwed. Remember, normal mode is always available
-
There are valid reasons to do this. I play survivor at least half the time, so trust me I’ve been slugged for the 4K plenty of times. But I also play killer, so I understand why killers do it. 1) some people just feel more sense of accomplishment getting 4K vs 3K. There’s nothing wrong with that as everyone has a different definition of what is successful game; 2) as others have said, challenges that require 4K; 3) probably the biggest reason in my experience is that survivors will very often wait at the hatch and t-bag until you force them out. Slugging for 4K denies them the opportunity to do that.

Because it's important to know why it will never be fixed and I was there when they changed it. Almost every killer main was complaining that they saw they were getting hits and because they got the 'sound' of hitting a survivor on their end that's all that matters.
I still have this happen all the time in my killer matches where I will get the sound of the hit but then the hit validation system says “nope” and denies me the hit. So what you are describing still happens all the time and BHVR did not adjust it to appease “killer mains”.
Do you play killer, and if so, does this never happen to you in your matches? -
The only way you are getting a DC penalty that long is that you rage quit regularly or you haven’t bothered fixing the issue that is causing your game to crash. Either way, you are ruining other people’s games and the DC penalty is working exactly as intended
-
@esarraf said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4104711#Comment_4104711
Actually they did fix it, then because they bend over backwards for killer mains they removed it because it was stopping killers from getting free hits and kills.
Why are you turning this into an “us vs them” argument? I play killer and I hate that BHVR refuse to fix this problem because I also play survivor and I hate getting hit from 10m away. Nobody who plays killer asked BHVR for this and I think you know that

@Crowman said:

It's most certainly unreasonable to expect BHVR to prevent people from playing DBD just because they live in certain areas of the world.
Even if they get a competitive advantage (killers with high ping) by doing so? Ideally everyone should get equal access to the game, but at some point, accommodating a small minority of players becomes so much of a negative impact to the experience of to the vast majority that we have to draw the line.
-
@Crowman said:
The problem is that ping is highly dependent on location to servers. Since DBD uses dedicated servers it means it is the responsibility of BHVR to place servers in areas. For some players, there is simply no close server and BHVR punishing players for their lack of servers would be a bad move.
So instead of punishing the minority of players who don’t live reasonable close to a server, they punish the majority who do by allowing high ping players to ruin games.
-
@DavidByDaylight said:
unfortunately, BHVR does not care, they intentionally allow high ping killer to get advantage
It’s not to intentionally allow killer advantage. BHVR don’t care about high ping players ruining people’s games because of $. If they enforced a ping limit, it would exclude a certain percentage of the player base from playing the game and thus reduce their revenue.
-
Bubba is my favorite killer to go against as survivor as he’s so easy to loop. Try playing as him against anyone who is even moderately skilled as survivor. He’s pretty bad and probably among the killers least deserving of complaints in the game.
-
@HawkEyeT said:
Screw this event for survivor you give us the crappest loadout spossible. like hello NO MITHER ######### ty for giving in to killers as usual and giving them a slaughter event since they whined over the last event
How was bringing back Chaos Shuffle “giving in to killers?” Do killers also not have a chance to get terrible perks that will essentially guarantee a loss? It seems like you’re trying to find a way to make this an “us vs them” issue when it’s really not.
-
As killer, most of the time, yes. As survivor, it depends on my solo queue teammates. Since the matchmaking system is nonfunctional, I will get matched with highly skilled, experienced teammates one match and then literal brand new players the next. I have fun in solo queue even if I don’t escape as long as I have competent teammates who give us a chance. It’s very frustrating that BHVR have refused to fix the matchmaking system for so long. It’s a far bigger problem than any supposed killer vs survivor balance issues.
-
Pinhead would be perfect if we’re only talking about SWF on comms. He’s way overtuned for solo queue who have no way of calling out who is going for box and who is staying on gens.
-
Hope you get a solo queue team and then it’s GGEZ win. Either everyone is going to for box and gens never get done, or no of goes for the box and it’s permanent chain hunt.
-
It’s because BHVR’s scoring/skill measurement is a pile of garbage. They are still, somehow, defending the “escapes=skill” thing that was widely ridiculed, mocked and discredited by the entire community. The number one improvement that could be made to the game IMO is fixing how survivor skill is measured. I would feel way better about not escaping when I’m getting chased all match and I die but all my teammates get out if I get some reward for it. In the current system, when this happens, BHVR’s skill measurement system considers me the least skilled player in the match. It’s insanely stupid.

wraith legit has 4 add ons worth using the rest useless and niche
I have a bit of a different take on this. Most of Wraith’s addon are useful, but many of them are just varying strength of the same addon, so there’s no reason to use the lower strength ones as long as you have the purple versions. I think Wraith is a great example of well-designed addons, but I do agree that there’s no reason to use the less powerful versions of the addons that have multiple versions.
