Buffing the trapper
- Start with all 8 traps
. trapper begins the match carrying 8
. No opening -game scavenger hunt
. he can immediately establish his territory
2. Faster trap placement
- Base setting time reduced from roughly 2.5 seconds to around 1.5–1.75 seconds.
- This makes setting traps during a chase much more realistic.
- A popular community proposal also suggests making Trapper Gloves’ faster setup effectively basekit.
3. Trap recall
Give him a secondary ability:
Recall Trap — 15-second cooldown
Look at any inactive trap on the map and recall it directly to your hand.
This would be HUGE because you wouldn’t have to abandon traps on the opposite side of the map.
4. Traps automatically re-arm
If a Survivor disarms a trap:
- It automatically re-arms after 60–90 seconds.
- Trapper doesn’t have to travel back across the map just to reset it.
This is one of the recurring community suggestions.
5. Disarming takes longer
Increase disarm time from around 3.5 seconds to 5–6 seconds.
That means Survivors have to actually commit time to removing your power.
6. Escaping a trap has a guaranteed consequence
Instead of escaping being relatively harmless:
- Survivor escapes → Deep Wound
- Trapper gets a notification
- Survivor leaves a stronger blood trail temporarily
The Deep Wound idea is specifically suggested in several community proposals.
7. Better information
When someone disarms a trap:
Trapper gets a loud notification + brief aura reveal of the Survivor.
This makes traps useful even when they aren’t catching people.
The biggest change I’d make
I’d give Trapper trap recall + faster setup + automatic rearming.

im just wondering why people are down voting this, trapper is in SERIOUS needs of MAJOR buffs .
Trapper don´t need major buffs. But he could need some buffs.
Starting with all his traps would already make him stronger. I think some of these suggestions would be to strong. Don´t know if Trapper is supposed to be an A or S rank killer.
In my opinion Trapper is a bit in a weird spot.
He is pretty map dependent in some cases due to trap spots and their visibility.
I am not on pro ranks so i tend to often get big advantages to the end of the match. If you get an early basement hook even good players often just give up.
But if you get really good players who know to constantly disarm your traps and are good at looping he is in fact weak.
I think you have to be a bit careful how you buff him.
In my usual games i see a lot of players struggle against him more than you would think.
The thing is: you will never make Trapper good against experienced survivor. Either they make a big mistake (basement hook, etc.) or you are just the entire match behind. Even if you had enough traps to cover every loop in a 3 gen and they couldnt disarm, they could just take the hit, run out of the trap area and reset.
And its certainly not helping that you cant hide your traps on most maps. But even if there are spots, survivor can just run around and even take a hit instead if healthy.
With that said: You still cant overbuff him. Some basekit addons and a recall mechanic is good QOL, but with further buffs you need to have weaker player in mind. There is no point to turn him into a noob stomper if he cant reach top tier anyway.
As a bi-weekly trapper enjoyer, formerly monthly perkless trapper, buffs on this scale unfortunately just won’t happen.
The stats show trapper as fine to bhvr and he’s so rng dependent, these 2 reasons are why he won’t get touched. They risk making him overpowered on maps that actually have grass and against the casuals who don’t know to look down or go and disable his web.
Unfortunately he just in the sadako, merchant, dredge camp of killers who are good against ignorant people, rng dependent or both like poor dredge.
I hope, pray he gets something substantial, but it’s just so unlikely.
People are downvoting because OP has been spamming AI posts all day
Trapper is currently one of my most played killers (I have even started his P100 grind and have a 63.47% Kill Rate) and so I figure I have a solid grasp on the killer as I have loads of hours on him in recent months.
I don't like these changes.
I'm not really a huge fan of these changes as they remove a lot of skill and macro from actually playing and learning trapper. While yes he his very simple at a base level but if you want kills in lobbies with better players you need to know your exact patrol path to the traps across the map and back to your three gen. These changes completely remove the skill from the entire first half of the game which is objectively the most important time for Trapper.
