When I realized she does worse in close range and can snipe across map, my interest was actually piqued. Definitely not practicing the 180 close hits, I don't want to worry about that and it could make me worse overall, but the long range pressure is something I'd like to see for myself.

Though I can already see people complain about aura read on her.

That said, I still haven't gotten a concrete consensus on banishing. Is it better or worse than hooking due to the survivors getting buffs? I probably should have watched more games to get a better idea.

My understanding is you want one survivor in exile at all times to keep your zealous state up but you don't want more than one survivor in exile at a time because one person freeing the exiled survivors frees all exiled survivors at once. So if somebody is in exile and you down another person you probably just wanna hook them.

  • I get what they wanted to do and like you said if they did Stjarndotter I think that be completely fine but as is it's coming across a little silly like someone trying to name their first D&D character.

  • If you want a killer with a bunch of weapons just wait for Art cuz that's probably not too far off what we'll probably get for him.

  • We already have one? I feel like "Escaped" and "Dead" are pretty self-explanatory. Same with Merciless Killer and Entity Displeased.

  • Idk I like it feels very Angels and Demons (the movie) to me.

  • I think making her 4.6 defeats the point of hag and she'd go from being a trap killer to anti loop. Just make her teleport have infinite range so it doesn't feel like she has to 3 gen every game and can afford to chase if the chase leaves the web and rework the insect add ons.

  • I feel like BHVR underestimated how much players have no idea how projects like these work. Having to make changes like this happens all the time either due to limitations, time crunch, etc but most people don't know that so when all these changes have to happen people are going to feel like the votes didn't mean anything when in reality they did it's just the community thought they were voting for the exact chapter when in reality we were more like consultants.

  • Not a comprehensive list but this is who I've found doing drops so far

    OhTofu

    Hens

    zmpixie

    Mish

    PixelbushYT

    Lynxi

    GhostArcade

    Staggiez

    Cahlaflour

    Paulie Ester

    The King

    Zerbs

    BougieBlackChick

    Scott Jund

    MintSkull

    LillithOmen

RapidMain (this isn't confirmed but he hinted he was earlier)

There are others that are not confirmed but I'd be shocked if they're not doing it like Otz and LittleSpaceRock but they haven't streamed since early access started.

Her chase is completely fine, there was a post about it not notifying survivors well - that's it, this post is asking for that to be improved, not for the killer to be nerfed.

In the current version of this killer, the easiest way to play is to use four aura perks and try to hit the survivor from afar; it's much easier than using her ability during a chase. That's the problem, as I recall: it turns a strong, complex, and balanced killer into an unpleasant piece of crap that hits you out of nowhere. She literally can hit you from opposite side of map

I understand what you were saying I'm saying I disagree her chase isn't fine, she's actually quite bad at short range. To even have a chance to hit in loops you literally have to 180 while charging the power so the beam starts behind you which will be very hard on M+K and basically impossible on controller.

Meaning you otherwise have to stay farther back in chase than you would on any other killer or you have to go for the longer range snipes.

  • I mean she also has to basically guess in order to do that without aura perks. Also she seems kinda bad close up because she minimum distance before the beam activates is wider than some loops so she almost seems designed to chase from a medium distance. This might be the most unique killer we've gotten in a minute and I'm predicting she'll be hated for it.

English isnt my first language, ig I translated it wrong

Ah okay, Mediocre means not good but not bad either like very middling and unimpressive.

  • Definitionally shouldn't mediocre be above bad?

  • The game mode made me realize how many people don't know what 60% of the perks in the game do. In that sense it's given me a slight advantage compared to regular DBD since I've memorized all the perks.

I wouldn't say it's a pure test of skill though since if say the survivor gets no mither with self-care and the killer gets something like say pop overcharge I mean that's just a hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby situation. Game mode is a fun knowledge check and chance to use perks most people don't consider usually but that's about it.

  • Shout out to LatAm survivors being the real workhorses and focusing those gens.

Also to explain the high escape rate in Asia they're 1. More competitive and 2. Understand the importance of being self-sufficient. I've heard Scott Jund describe this as Asian players being more selfish but this is a misunderstanding of East Asian culture. Over there there's a sort of social contract of you don't want to be a burden to others and this is seen as politeness. This is why self-care is much more popular in Asia they're willing to play a slower game and take the time to self-care to free up their teammates time to do gens. This shouldn't be overstated though as they will ofc let teammates heal them if it makes sense.

  • It does stuff at lower MMR to disorient killers but once you realize it's almost always better to just break the pallet and eat the blind and follow by sound it feels silly.

It sure doesn't help that what's 'busted' or 'overpowered' is completely subjective.  For example, of course Killers would believe that Shoulder the Burden is "busted/overpowered," but Survivors would think it's trash.

As someone who uses the perk a lot StB is... okay. Only gets crazy if everyone runs it but just one person it can save games sometimes but if you get tunneled it does nothing and if the person you shoulder isn't actually that good you're not buying that much time only slightly delaying the inevitable. It's a perk you really gotta think about how you use.

I think most people think about the most extreme scenarios for perks which combined with not actually playing that side is a really bad combination.

Hyperfocus/Stake out is another example. People swear it's broken but in reality it's really swingy. Get a Wesker and be allowed to work on the center gen uninterrupted? Yeah it's extremely powerful. But any stealth killer and half your build is dead. Get constantly found and it's not doing anything. Wanna use it on a side gen and you have to follow the killer around and actually build up the tokens first. Then you have to actually get the skill checks which are uncommon without a toolbox so realistically the actual combo it Hyperfocus/Stake out/Built to Last so your entire build is now devoted to pretty much one thing so better hope you don't have to do anything else besides gens or you're screwed. But yes if all those stars align it's very very good.

  • Autodidact, is it good? Not really.

Is fun to gamble to see how many healing skill checks you get to have the small chance to get the most bonkers healing perk in the game? Omg yes.

  • I mean it's still alright you're still getting to a tile to loop with it you're just not going across the map.

  • Is it incredibly obnoxious and "cringe" as a survivor? Yes

Does it make sense to do as killer if you haven't found anyone? Also yes

DBD is a game with a lot of "oh boy is what the other side doing not fun but also I kinda get it".

  • We all know BHVR is allergic to actually changing Nurse. BHVR would rather nerf/change a dozen perks she abuses before actually addressing her.

  • I always thought Dredge's story would be good as it's own movie.

  • I have no interest in chaos shuffle so I'll only speak on lights out and is it less immersive? Absolutely but I get the game mode as to be playable and survivors before were too scared to do anything and were running to dead zones constantly like I get why this mode doesn't come around very often.

At least now they'll stand half a chance in chase and killers still have the stealth advantage and survivors having huge lanterns should make them even easier to find at least. Killers should still have the advantage with no 2nd chance perks and no exhaustion so it should be okay.

  • A lot of questions here but I guess I would say I try to flexible in my games. Survivor trying to use unhook protections offensively in an area I know is unsafe I'll tunnel. Are we down to 2-3 gens and they still haven't cracked the 3 gen? Gonna start protecting that. Got a map like Trickster's Delusion? I am never going to those top right alleyways cuz I know the loops are too strong there. I won't chase shack a lot of the time either just cuz it's a bad time investment. I'm super willing to drop chase if I think it's not in my favor. So I guess I'd describe my overall playstyle as opportunist?

I will never slug for the 4k unless I'm doing adept or tunnel at 5 gens unless a survivor is throwing themselves at me because to me there isn't really a difference between 3k and 4k and I'm someone who's competitive and wants to play as well as possible but like it's not that serious I want my games to last longer than 5 minutes and I don't have this vendetta against survivors some killers seem to have where it's like "grrrr all survivors are toxic and have to be taught a lesson no mercy grrrr" like if one gets out I don't really care.

As for builds I find gen regression boring and prefer information builds either giving me information (auras) or denying survivors information (oblivious and undetectable) and it works pretty well for me. If I'm not running that I'm probably running a hex build to give survivors a side objective and waste their time. Sometimes the time it takes for survivors to find and cleanse the totems can be as valuable as the effects of the hexes although that is wildly inconsistent lmao.

Historically my most played killers have been ranged killers like Artist, Slinger, Houndmaster, Dracula just because I find running around in a circle to get a hit mind numbingly boring and would rather be trying to line up a shot. I think it's more skill expressive too so I feel better about it when I do well on those killers.

Yeah, there are a lot of good points being made here, but anyone trying to argue this case would do well to just omit any mention of the DH nerf, since that was arguably the most busted single item/perk the game has ever seen, and the fact that it was allowed to exist as it did for so long was a travesty. Really, the whole surv meta immediately pre-6.1.0 was a joke.

And yeah, a lot of recency bias and revisionist history; people quickly forget how survivor sided this game was, and it was like that for years. While mostly true, many of the things being said here about killer players crying and getting what they want has been equally true of survs in the past.

But I suppose that's illustrative of the bigger issue I see with these balancing changes - BHVR just can't seem to leave well enough alone in a lot of cases. Like post 6.1.0 things seemed to be moving towards balance (at least as balanced as this game can get), but now the pendulum has swung too far in a lot of cases. Like you can balance things without punishing the other side for having been in the advantaged position previously by over balancing.

They either don't go far enough, or they go way too far.

But I will say that I don't think there is a general practice to favor killers here, because that would be stupid, as most DBD players are surv players and it would cost them long term. I just think they can't (or won't) see the forest for the trees on balancing.

I mean I don't envy BHVR in their task of trying to balance DBD at present because the Us vs. Them going on in the community rn feels like it's the worst it's been in a very long time certainly the worst it's been since 6.1. Survivor mains will swear Killers are unstoppable and Killers will swear survivors have too many tools to escape and neither side seems to give any leeway so currently it's probably impossible to make everyone happy, BHVR is going to make someone mad no matter what they do.

Honestly their best bet is a massive perk shake up to completely reset the meta so nobody knows what's strong on either side for a little while which is supposedly coming so we'll see what we get.

  • I've seen this discourse on social media and the obsession with Judgement having breasts is insane to me. Namely because so many people are acting like "oh BHVR is just pandering to gooners" as if breasts are inherently sexual and by that logic anything female or female coded is inherently sexual which is a really ######### gross train of thought.

Personally I feel like there's nothing sexual about Judgement's design, It's a sort of angel with crab legs with trapped souls in them and a body covered in eyes, by all accounts that is absolute body horror but it doesn't count because the character has breasts and therefore "gooner bait"?

  • Hexes come and go out of the meta and rn they're strong. It's really just thrill holding them together especially in combination with face the darkness making them impossible to cleanse. I don't think the current nerf coming will be enough to kill them but once they rework it in the big update I imagine hexes will be garbage again.

To be fair, the complaints about DH only came when DH was working properly again. The years it was bugged and Survivors ended up exhausted on the ground, no Killer had an issue with DH and even complaints about DH for distance (the only way to actually use it reliable) were far less. Only when Killers were the one getting the wrong feedback (hits despite the Survivor using DH), they complained, even if this were just hits they would not have gotten in the first place.

Not saying that I disagree with DH being nerfed or anything.

The Perks you list are also not really good examples, since they were either extremely unhealthy (Ultimate Weapon, Undying, Call of Brine (even tho this was more of a victim of Eruption)) or they were or will be reverted. E.g. PGTW was buffed again and just recently. Ruin was also buffed, not 200% like before, but still a very good Perk nowadays (granted, I dont think it ever needed to be nerfed, the problem was Tinkerer back then after Undying was single use).

STBFL will be buffed as they already said. And NOED was nerfed, but sadly not in the correct way.

This is revisionist history, DH made the game miserable for killer as you basically had to wait for the survivor to use it before you were allowed to swing at them and it extended every chase basically for free if you were near a pallet the only reason it wasn't the number one complaint (which there were times it was there's a reason this game has "E" memes) was because DS/Unbreakable was more ridiculous at the time.

Also STBFL is only getting a number buff which won't fix the reason it's bad now which is you can't m2 the obsession to save stacks. I doubt there's any number buff the could give the perk to save it without making it unhealthy especially when rapid brutality exists.

Also the point wasn't wether the nerfs to those killer perks were deserved or not some were some weren't. It was just pointing out BHVR is more than willing to nerf both sides.

  • It's hard to take a post that defends original Dead Hard one of the most obviously unhealthy perks the game of all time seriously. Not to mention completely ignoring the fact that plenty of killer perks have also been nerfed Undying, Ruin, NOED, Call of Brine, Pop, STBFL, Ultimate Weapon, etc so acting like only one side gets what it wants is revisionist history.

  • Wicked is looking way better rn lol. As long as you make sure you're hooked in the basement you get to unhook yourself not be broken and get 20 seconds of aura read and it doesn't care if you get hooked first.

With Deli you could wait out the minute of broken but two minutes pretty much ensures the second hook state is coming sooner rather than later. It's still fine but it's no longer a 5 star perk probably a low 4 or high 3.

  • If it's not a collab behavior should sue lmao that's so blatant.

  • It's my favorite rift in a while granted the last one I liked was the plant one so I seem to like all the rifts the majority of the community doesn't.

  • How does one buff the pebble?

  • A lot of the busted loops in the map are in the the top right quadrant of the map aka the alleyways. Stay around the nightclub and the market and the map genuinely isn't that bad especially considering the 3 gen is almost always in the market so you wanna be there anyway.

  • Jurassic Park is one of those licenses is more of a when then if. We'll get it before year 20 I'm sure.

  • Discord tried this and people started getting banned for posting grids and grid like patterns because the AI thought it was CP, we absolutely do not need people getting randomly banned because of random AI glitches and misinterpretations.

  • 1977 on Taurie started the event at p36 and ended p92.

Planning on maining Judgement when they release so I didn't focus too much on killer just got about 86 On Executioner to hold me over until then.

  • Never attribute to malice what can be attributed to incompetence.

Eddie doesn't really make noise and they probably just think about it all that hard.

  • I think the problem is the perks that combat slugging aren't as good as the perks against hooks. Like you're not going to tell me Unbreakable is as debilitating as Shoulder or Resurgence when you can pick yourself up and go right back down 5 seconds later. By the time we get to real counters we're talking about running multiple perks like Unbreakable with Soul Guard or WGLF with Made for this and slugging simply isn't common enough to justify spending multiple perk slots on something that's isn't going to happen 8 out of 10 games.

Like genuinely the single greatest anti slug perk we have is I think Exponential but even that can be snuffed and backfire if you're not careful.

  • As I've gotten used to him I decided the problem with Jason is his synergy with hexes especially Thrill. If you make him unable to see people on totems in OE or nerf Thrill I think he's mostly fine.

  • Singularity is the strongest of these and probably the least frustrating to play as long as you don't mind constantly placing and replacing biopods.

  • As someone who plays mostly soloQ survivor these days I really don't get the survivor anxiety thing. Killer anxiety sure because you're pretty much on a time limit and every mistake is magnified because the killers time is more important. But soloQ survivor? I don't get anxiety I just get really annoyed most of the time if anything wondering about the absolutely bizarre choices my teammates make. Maybe it's just because I'm more confident on the role or because I get so much information so I always know what's going on now? Tbf it's probably that cuz stealth killers are the only time I'm even a little bit uncomfortable on survivor.

  • It depends on the killer tbh, against most it's probably better to leave the plaything up but like if it's someone like bubba or myers who have high lethality while being very quiet and you need to hear the TR to give yourself a headstart so you don't go down I'm saying "screw it we'll just play the long game" because that's better than letting them sneak up on you and giving easy downs.

In this case if the devour was still up I don't think it's a huge deal to cleanse the plaything was up because the killer had high lethality so as long as you're mentality prepared to remember where it was and cleanse pentimento and play slow and patient.

The problem here is everyone has to be on the same page or things will go south kinda quick, it's like playing against plague. Cleansing or not cleansing are equally viable but everyone has to do the same thing or it's not gonna work. These are the cases where the gap between SWF and soloQ are the highest unfortunately because there's really no way to communicate these things.

  • More: First, Phead, Wesker, Huntress, Slinger, Dracula

Less: Ghoul, Jason, Myers, Krasue, Nurse, Trapper

  • While I'd love that it wouldn't solve dredges problems it would just make him even more oppressive in places they're already good.

I'd like to dredge get their power faster so you can be more dynamic in chase because having your mobility and your anti loop tied to the same cooldown is kinda rough.

Well, I wouldn't say L after L. I do think though a Midchapter…A really solid dense packed midchapter is really needed. We haven't had a proper midchapter in ages.

Idk the mess of an anniversary event followed by them lying to us about it as they try to fix it followed by no midchapter has left a bad taste in my mouth.

  • I don't which is why I've pretty much stopped playing killer entirely. I want to like playing killer but it's not worth putting up with all the BS and BM just to occasionally get a satisfying game.

  • The way BHVR is posting L after L after an actually promising 10th anniversary stream is so disappointing.

  • I don't think Taurie cares to sabotage the other survivors, she probably wants the trials to go as normal cuz that's what the entity wants. She just probably doesn't care much for the other survivors (okay tbf she probably doesn't like Haddie, Felix or Elodie much) and is pretty ambivalent towards them, she just wants to be on the opposite side of the trials.

  • I haven't played a ton of killer this month and probably won't play much killer until Judgement releases but playing survivor in this event is actually terrible. My teammates are too busy with dinner carts to do gens, poison is the worst mechanic ever conceived and when we do win it just feels cheesy and unearned. Let this be a one time lore event and come back with something different next year.

  • There is horror anime they're just not as popular or well known like shiki, another, higurashi, corpse party, etc.
