First and foremost - All development changes/ideas must use a two face critical thinking format. Brainstorming and devil's advocate. This may curb some of the shortfalls that perks/killers/gameplay has suffered in the past. IE: "Hey, give Legion an ability to inflict deep wounds....etc, etc. Devil's Advocate: "That could cause problems. Survivors hold M1 more often than they do now, could encourage tunneling, can easily be exploited creating a situation where there is no counter play." See how that works? When his power was first listed, several of us said those exact things, but we were called negative nancies. Oops.
- switch primary focus to fixing known bugs. List those bugs on the forums and keep players updated as to what work is being done. (Obviously dedicated servers have to remain a focus)
- Stop production of new killers, and focus production on new game modes. (Obviously bugs are primary focus)
- Convert KYF to a KWF and give players the ability to modify nearly every aspect of the game. Increase killer speed, gen speed, slow speeds down, whatever it is they see fit. Create an area on the forums for feedback and uploading video of games to the development team for review on how things might work out.
- Once we are over 60% on fix for current bugs, divert a portion to fixing DS, Freddy rework (I'm in the ship who thinks he does not need one, just most play him wrong. That said, looking at improvements does not hurt.) Legion rework, and begin process of looking at other perks that could use tweaks.
- Begin looking at ways to lessen the bp grind - fix blood webs.
-
Here is what I can tell you; if the survivor is teabagging, for whatever reason, they are going to be childish and whiny in post game chat more than not. So when you see that, you know there is little chance of logic or intelligence to be shared after the game.
Don't automatically chase that person. Ha e map awareness. Are they near an area of heavy pallet population? Are they near a pallet dead zone? How many gens are done vs how many hooks have you gotten?
And no matter how fair you try to play, that group will scream and yell at the end. So just get through the match and move on. -
I've noticed toxicity up on both sides. Out of 7 survivor matches there were 6 with hard campers/tunnelers. 11 killer matches and most were swf trying to be elite with lots of teabagging, attempted body blocks and massive post game trash talk even though only 3 have survived in those 11 matches. So, I ran 2 goof around matches with the name "nohookorslugchallenge". Downed people, picked them up and dropped them till they ran off like a good sport fisherman. They still sat there teabagging at the exit and talking trash at the end of the game.
Can't fix stupid. -
I rarely care about the hatch. If I hook the third and I find the 4th before they reach the hatch, then I clearly deserve that kill. If I can't find them, then I ask where the hatch was/where they hid. Makes me a better hunter/killer. I don't need to slug or 4k to feel any sense of satisfaction or to stroke any ego.
I have found that .any other killers are very salty about not getting a 4k, regardless of hatch or door.
If they slug, I go full stealth mode and see if they are hunting or camping. If hunting, I'll get the other up. If camping, I'll either get a gen, or start hitting totems and chests and settle in for a 30 minute game of hide and seek. If they don't slug and I find them at the hatch, I'll run straight at them and try to jump in. If I get it, great, if not, great but we both deserve to move on to the next game, gg. -
I play 70/30 killer - Main Trapper. There are legit issues with killer vs well organized groups. There is a legit issue with some killers (Let trapper carry more traps). That said, this forum is filled with whiny killers, and legit concerns. It is also filled with whiny survivors, and legit concerns. I admit, the killers often outweigh the other, but it is what it is.
I find many killers and survivors don't play enough of the other side to understand. That is the issue.
-
I don't understand the toxicity. I was goofing around with LF earlier and hooked everyone once (for chili bonus) then would down them, pick them up and set them down till they escaped. I let them all go, then faced a plethora of taunts at the end of the game. I merely said, ..."Umm...I kept letting you go. Was just trying to let you all have fun." They instead felt they were uber elite.
Nothing you can do about it. Toxic players are individuals who are picked on a lot and take out their power struggle frustrations online. They don't know how to act decently to others. Just move on.
-
I prestiged at first, then I realized it was purely a waste of time. It is a horrible grind just for cosmetics. After getting Pig, Hag, Claudette, and Feng to P3, I figured out I was completely wasting my time. The % chance for better stuff is so minor it is just not worth it. So, I leveled Trapper to 50 and just kept getting him perks. He is almost done now with no resets. Much faster, and much more worth it.
-
Though I agree, I think the problem is more in the fact that red ranked survivors group with green and yellow ranked survivors to bully a green/yellow rank killer. If you join an SWF with a red ranked survivor, you face a red rank killer.
The other problem might be....you're running Legion and everyone begs to die when playing Legion. Haha..just kidding....a little bit. No, seriously, I beg to die when facing Legion!
-
Try them all. Don't push levels on them yet. Get a feel for how they play without the perks. It is easier to find the ones that work best for you that way.
I started with Trapper, then Pig, Hag. I wound up going back to Trapper, but have grown comfortable with most killers. I'm even toying with Billy some. I'm not a big nurse fan. I use her well enough to 3k regularly, but don't enjoy the play. I always find myself back on Trapper. I enjoy the strategic gameplay. -
The only thing I took from that was, don't play Legion.
Seriously, DCs happen all the time for the dumbest reasons. I had 2 players run into my traps within the first 45 seconds of the match. Both DC'ed. I was as shocked as they were. I let the other two get a couple gens, chased them a bit. Downed them, let them heal up. Eventually hooked them. At least we all got some bp out of it. Can't control the numb-nuts who quit because they had a bad start.
-
New Mori for DS User:
Killer rips the metal shard out of their shoulder, grabs the survivor and drives the shard up their arse, then toss them to the ground.
-
My matches with Legion are either super short, or I never get downed and escape. I typically suicide on hook vs Legion because otherwise it turns out to be a 10 minute M1-fest to mend and do gens. Very, very boring.
-
Until rank has meaning, deranking will exist. It does not bother me in most cases as it is usually just a want to avoid the toxicity of red ranks. In the cases of bullying newer players, I think it sucks. How do you fix it though?
-
Actually, the event had a lot of killers playing survivor, so it left a higher percentage of those toxic killers out there. I noticed a huge uptick in toxicity from killers during the event. It is starting to taper back off. As killer, I am noticing the survivor toxicity returning to its normal elevated levels as well.
Sad, that is the closest to balance we will ever get.

Survivors hate it because they prefer to pound out the gens in 4 minutes and just trololololol out the gates without consequence. This is just a silly and toxic comment. The normal survivors vs killers bs. Many survivors hate it because it is a crutch. Just like DS is a crutch. Your comment could easily be turned around on killers talking about DS, but that is not helpful. Most people play both killer and survivor and don't see things from just one perspective.
Personally, I run Small Game a lot and hunt out totems. Most don't want to waste the perk slot, so it is much harder to find and destroy all 5 unless you are a coordinated swf, which most are not. So, NOED feels like a punishment to those players for succeeding on the objective. Understandable. I don't agree, but it is understandable.
-
lol
-
Personally, I think there are only two perks in this game that are broken.
- DS - Should be limited to one person per match, or change the perk so it slows the movement speed of the killer while he is carrying the survivor for 10 seconds. This is a nice counter to Agitation. (As it stands, there is no counter to iron grasp/agitation other than DS. Boil Over is an absolute joke.)
- Insidious - This is purely for camping. I have yet to see a legit use of this perk, other than to silently camp a hook. It promotes one of the most toxic play styles a killer can have. (Barring situational use of camping - doors open/hook swarming/toxic player elimination.) This perk should not even exist.
NOED is not a problem. Kill gray totems, no NOED. If NOED kicks in and you can't find the totem, cut losses and leave. Don't get too altruistic. It is what it is. If anything, I agree with Tru3talent in that NOED is mostly a crutch perk that limits the player's ability to push him/herself to learn the killer. I only use it if it is part of a specific build, like end game builds with blood warden. More of a gimic than anything else.
I became a much better killer when I stopped using NOED. I used it on Trapper and Pig a lot. I stopped using it, and got better at limiting the survivors even getting to end game.
-
I'm one of the biggest defenders of SWF on these boards, but even I know what this is when 6see it. Groups like these are why most SWFs are treated so poorly. It is not the perks, it is how the group uses them. If you have never played these squads as killer, you have no frame of reference.HawkAyeTheNoo said:Toxic for running a perk which is readily available in the game, ok.
These are not common, but are super annoying.
Tell me Hawk, do you feel the same about insidious camping, NOED, or ebony mori? I'm pretty sure you labeled a few killers as sweaty or toxic due to perk choices and how they played them. -
I don't focus on the sabotage artist unless he is 99'ing the hooks and then following for the save. Then I'll slug and wait for others to save. Down a couple more, hook the sabo guy, hook others and soft camp till stage 2 on mr sabo. If he continues after that, I'll finish him as a priority.
I don't think of hook sabotage as a huge concern or reason to get frustrated. I know survivors have dailies that require it and it is what it is. Sabo squads and one survivor sabotaging are two very different things. -
I'll be honest, I detest Legion matches. They take too long and it is more of an M1 fest than normal. I don't DC, and will play like normal, but if hooked, I suicide immediately. I don't play survivor often unless my wife asks me to. I don't want to spend my time against such a poorly designed, and thoroughly boring, killer.
Sorry Legion mains. Blame the developers. -
The Game and Lery's are easy 3-4k for Trapper. If you struggle with trap placement, you are being too obvious in placement.ShyN3ko said:About maps and impossible things.
Try to play with Trappers ability on Lerrys or The Game.
This is impossible. And btw, I can loop the killer 45 second with 1 pallet or window.
And 1 generator solo need 80 seconds.
Should we talk about time in DbD?

You feel the same when a SWF depip squad rips the killer a new one? It is not about winning and losing, you can still have fun in the game. It is a game. Nobody is winning money. There are too many ways in which to grief players intentionally though.Orion said:@Warlock_2020 said:
You will see little sympathy from the killer main dominated boards. They even eat other killer mains who don't agree with them. Camping is toxic. It is a horrible gameplay experience when done all the time. There are instances where camping truly is strategic. Like when gens are done, or hook swarming. I'd even say that when you hook that one flashlight bearing, ds having guy that has followed all game just to try to interrupt you. Ensuring that kill means he can't interrupt you anymore. (Looking at you, Mr. Rank 2 in a match vs Rank 14 killers.)Fact is, it is boring and eliminates the fun of playing the game when someone hard camps/tunnels from the start. Git gud does not apply as I have e yet to see anyone so good at survivor that they can't be caught.
It is what it is though. I just try to ignore campers, teabaggers and other toxic bs.
Losing isn't supposed to be fun or provide the same benefits as winning. If it were, it'd be functionally indistinguishable from winning.

More blood points. Plain and simple
-
@Mr_Sparkle, toxic players are very hard to deal with. I just had a SWF with four DS, 4 insta heals, 4 adrenaline. Hooked them all once, killed one, and was met with the constant "EZ Baby killer" at the end. Those groups are less common at my rank right now, but as you get towards red ranks, it can increase. Same with killers. Had one last night that hard camped on the first hook and kept striking the survivor on the hook. Sucked for that survivor, but we did gens and left. At the end, he started talking about BS Gen rushers and how we were exploiting the game because one of us had a brown toolbox and gen rushed.
It happens. Ignore it. Most of them are sad little people with sad lives and they take out their frustrations online where they are safe behind their monitor. Many people are fun in this game. Before that last game with the toxic SWF, I had a fun SWF match where they complimented my trap usage on Hag after I 4k'ed. Just move on from the bad ones.

Wow, 6was not aware that I was speaking with his #1 fan. You seem to take this all very serious. I made a simple, admittedly sarcastic, comment about how I agreed with all you said up till you mentioned Tyde, and go full blown attack dog for the guy.Tucking_Friggered said:@Warlock_2020 said:
Yes Warlock I do in fact think that the couch jockey should avoid labeling the absolute worst player in the professional sports league bad. Being the worst of the best is still better than the rest of the lethargic masses by magnitudes.
Whether Tyde is better than the others or not he is still far beyond most of the general community. Tyde hits rank 1 survivor or killer whenever he cares too.
Your singling out of him came off as more political and grudge based. You could have simply gave your own list. While I do not know Tyde personally I have joined his Twitch and follow his YouTube videos and I'm not going to go along with him being smacked on and not give a counter.
Just about any of us can reach rank 1 at will. That is not hard to do. I met a 10 year old , who should not be playing this game, who is a rank 1 killer with 5 p3 killers. Skill has Jack to do with it. Tyde is a joke when compared to the others you mentioned and that is all there is to it. Now, back to the topic at hand.
Seeing profiles is pointless and only lends to griefing. Even survivor profiles. If anyone cared about reputation in this game then most of the toxic behavior would be bannable. It is not, so forget about it. -
That may be the dumbest response yet. You think that one has to be better than someone to analyze skill? You can't sit back and watch several players and analyze which are good and which are not?Tucking_Friggered said:@Warlock_2020 said:

I don't think either side should be able to see names. All that does is allow people to target specific people or dodge to get easier matches. I feel like showing survivors the killer's name would just cause survivors to dodge the killers that previously beat them as well. But to play devil's advocate, what's stopping me from from just changing my name after each match so people don't recognize me? What benefit does it provide other than allowing people to dodge challenging matches and draw up queue times for everyone?
I recognize the pre dedicated server propaganda when I see it. I can't wait for this to come and to laugh at the outcome when it does. You are not going to have a killer community stuck with only SWF games. Whoever has sold you on this idea has did you a great disservice.
The recent event showed you just how easy it is for a point discrepancy to shift the scales. Now when you have your majority mediocre killer players (most are not Marth, Tru, Tyde, or Monto) thrown to the wolves of dedicated swf groups how do you deduce it's going to go over well?
Having heard Mclean acknowledge it's broken and blow it off and Mathieu tell his player base and revenue stream to play another game I can't say that it is surprising. But it is none the less akin to watching the awkward unathletic person detail to the crowd how they are going to pull of this insane stunt that requires the pinnacle of athletic finesse. The crowd can only stare humorously as they already know how it is going to turn out.
You had me until you put Tyde in that list. Dude does not belong there. He is not a great killer or survivor. Honestly, he gets owned because he makes so many mistakes, then cries about overpowered survivors.
Sorry...that guy annoys me to no end.
Can you link your channel? I'd love to watch your videos and see what you do different. I mean if you can analyze his playstyle to such a degree and judge it poorly you must be one of the best.
I guess we should all hold our opinions on sports, movies, music, etc to ourselves unless we can do it better?
Nice try. The is nowhere near the skill of the others you mentioned. Should have used Zubatlel instead. -

Lag is going to be a bigger killer killer. The killer's lag will not affect him more than those he hosts. Latency between the server and the killer's connection will make it hard for many who currently benefit from high ping lobbies.

There is no easy fix for SWF. In and of itself, SWF is not toxic, nor a huge advantage. I destroy them on a regular basis with the Trapper using padded traps sometimes. If I can do it with Trapper, they can't be that great because I'm not a great killer and Trapper with padded traps is nothing to fear. That said, sure, there are those that are a biatch to face, just like there are some killers with certain perk builds that are tough. Spirit with prayer beads comes to mind. The problem with any nerf in this game is that it hits disproportionately due to the variation in skill levels and how they impact the game. If you gave a 10% nerf across the board to all SWF action speeds, you would cause 80% of SWFs to get absolutely annihilated in 15 ranks of the game. Only 10% of the SWFs out there could handle that without breaking a sweat, the remaining 10% might find it a challenge.
Voice Comms - Most SWFs don't even use these correctly. They state crap that is obvious, "Its a Nurse!" Yeah? What gave that away, the sound of her screeching when she teleports? "Killer's chasing me!" Yeah, we noticed your icon was suddenly injured and you are running across the field. Heck, I've learned to use Comms against them. SWF member is looping me in a jungle gym and the rest are on a gen nearby. I hear the gen, but let the survivor loop me one more time and break line of sight before I peel off and grab one of the ones on the gen. I drop them to the ground and down a second. Just got 2 of them down because their buddy told them it was safe to keep working on that gen. Ooops! (I admit, this is not the norm, but there are some tricks that can be done.)
In all honesty, SWFs are not the overall problem. Most of the problem is in various perks, hit boxes, and how impactful a well organized group of survivors can be. Not sure how to fix that though, it is a glaring problem in the game and short of some full redesigns, or new game modes, there are not many options.
At rank 1 the SWF groups I come up against clearly have a massive advantage. Not only are they decent individual players, but SWF also gives them the ability to to communicate verbally, strategise, bring complimenting perks, items, add ons to the game and use tactics that a non-SWF group would not use. As if it wasn't difficult enough to 4k at Rank 1.
SWF up until about Rank 5 is usually fine, but past that it's just breaks the game. It doesn't make any sense that in one game you can be playing against 4 skilled individual players and the next, you're playing against 4 skilled players playing as a team with voice communication. It's like going from normal difficulty to veteran for a killer.
SWF obviously doesn't make sense. Keep it in causal - it should have no place in ranked play.
Ranked play has no meaning though. It is merely a number. I've seen the worst potatoes get Rank 1. Aside from that, 4k is not what the developers considered balanced. They stated their goal is 2k. Perhaps, SWF at rank 1 is more balanced than we think?
-
Sometimes, yes. Either survivors are blasting through it, or they find it too fast. I'm usually happy if I get a full minute out of Ruin. I've found its often better to avoid ruin and run Lullaby and Hope together. Survivors tend to not be so fast to look for Lullaby until it is hindering them. By then, I've got 3-5 stacks of Hope - unless they started right next to it, which happened last match. Both totems gone in the first 15 seconds of the match. Poor Trapper was alone with his traps. Still 3k'ed, but was only due to good gen placement for traps.

I only leave lobbies if it is bugged, such as when someone leaves and you have 3 people sitting there with no 4th coming in for a while. I leave and reset the lobby. Otherwise, I could not care less who is in my lobby anymore. If I see what looks like a sweaty SWF, I either load up good perks/addons and a mori for game on, or I load up a goof-around killer with perks for all the xtra bp I can get. Let them waste their brand new parts and purple flashlights, I'm only there to goof off and get bp.
Works every time. I leave with lots of bp and had zero stress. Was just me horsing around.
-
Not bad for huntress, just for the reload speed of opening the locker. I see lots of locker use with doc, so useful on him.
-
I think this game would stand to gain a lot from a more stealth-based mode. Even as killer, if the ability to expose steal survivors were based on certain levels of sound and activity, but not aura site, it would be fun. Almost like having the survivor become more reckless and have a higher risk of making noise the killer can track if in the killer's TR. (Tripping gasping in fear, knocking something over, etc.) This would help increase killer/survivor interaction without eliminating a survivor's skill at staying unseen as many aura perks do.
-
Because this community is filled with socially limited minds that enjoy ruining the fun of others. It is what it is, just keep moving on. You'll see those same kids cry and whine about gen-rush and SWF. Just sit back and watch the show.

Need a hanky? I faced several of those last night as well with Trapper. Six to be exact. 3k'ed in 4 of them, 4k'ed in one, and 1k'ed in the last (they were really good!). No crying. Just gg and moved on. It is what it is, you either get better or you play something else. Stop cry-babying like so many of the killers on this site. Tire of seeing it to be honest. I'm nowhere near a great killer, but even I don't have to struggle as bad as so many of the whiners on this board. The only thing I can agree with them on is that DS needs to be addressed. At minimum, limit it to one member of any group. It is quite frustrating to get DS'ed four times in a match. Thankfully, that was my eboni mori match. 3 Still died

-
camp3r_tunn3l3r No, it is not bannable. That said, don't complain about the hate fed your way though. You mention toxic survivors, but you are playing a very toxic way. Let's be honest here folks, flashlight blinding, pallet looping, DS striking, tea bagging, body blocking, hook swarming, hook farming, etc, etc is NOT bannable, but it is also frustrating (to some extent) gameplay. (In all honesty, what choice do survivors have other than to pallet loop..stealth is a joke of an option now days - especially for Doc and Legion matches.)
If you are going to camp and tunnel, you are playing toxic and will receive hate for it. If you are going to tea bagging, hook swarming, entering with a 4-man SWF all with DS and flashlights/tool boxes then you are likely there to be toxic. It is not something that can get you banned, but you are still one of the low-lifes of this game and deserve whatever criticism you receive (that includes hard tunneling and first-hook camping).
The problem with this game is it encourages the horrid behavior of the lowest-common denominator within the player base. Thus why players like Ochido existed in the first place. It encourages the cry-baby mentality that so many killers on this forum have (looking at you too TydeTyme), and the venom of the survivors as well (again..Ochido types). If BHVR really wants this game to grow and be all it can be, they will clean up some of the gameplay, and start enforcing rules with a tad more sportsmanship. Make it 100% clear what they see as balanced results (right now, they have said a 2k in each match is ideal), and shut down the crybaby killers that demand a 4k or its not balanced. Start putting limits on the more toxic gameplay. Hard camping/tunneling (you know you do it Wraith mains!) and 4-man SWFs with DS. (Limit DS to one player in a match and they are auto-obsession).
I'm not going to pretend that my ideas are not necessarily the best ones, but until this community embraces the fact that both killers and survivors have toxic styles of play that are purely frustrating to the other side, this game will never sniff balance of any kind.
-
Then nobody would unhook.
Look, these guys don't tunnel because of a lack of other targets. The do it to either off each player asap, or just to be a prick. Yes, I know lots of killers that do it just to be toxic. It is one of many parts of this game that keeps it from getting a larger player base. Just too much room for toxic play that ruins other people's enjoyment. It is a weird game where the developers want their players to ruin each other's fun. Whether it is toxic survivors acting like azzhats, but that is ok, or toxic killers just trying to ruin your day with a good face camp or hard tunnel. Both are just fine in the eyes of developers, and they are the main reason the player base can't grow.
-
I have never played an event more frustrating as survivor. As killer, this was a breeze. I got the coins I wanted fast. Trying to help my wife as survivor, we've had 10 matches today. Only one was a killer who did not camp or tunnel (hard camp/tunnel), and only 1 went without at least 1 DC due to said camping/tunneling. This has been horrendous. I can't wait till she gets the outfit she wants. The amount of toxic players in this thing are unbelieveable.
I'll need a break from this game, or at least from survivor, for a long time. In the future, don't lock the points bonus to only the player who escapes with the item, and don't cheat killers on points (thought it was not quite as bad as some made it out to be.) This game can be frustrating enough on its own without feeding the horrid behavior of your most toxic players.

I play both, but much more prefer killer. M1 simulator sucks and most games as survivor lately are against campers/tunnelers which turns into holding M1 down for 5-7 minutes. I prefer dictating whether the killer is an azz or not.

Sometimes the game crashes for them it's not always a ragequit though DC punishment should be harsherSure, maybe in 0.001% of all DCs
Lately, the game has crashed much more for me as both killer and survivor. I prefer to not dc, if the match sucks that bad, I'll either die on hook, or just harass the survivors till they leave. DC where I get zero points, no thanks.

You have no map pressure, you are killer and they established they don't want to give killer's power in this game.Someone needs practice. I have to make effort to not 4k in many matches. Sometimes, I just feel bad and let them go. I'm a Trapper main, so not like I'm OP. My favorite combo is padded traps (yummy bp!) and anything that darkens the traps. Again, not OP, but not hard to 3-4k.

That would not work. If you were around for the beta or shortly after launch, you may remember how people used to play with their friends before SWF existed. People would queue at the same time as their friends and leave the lobby if they didn't end up in the same game as their friends. You would likely see the same here: the people who are only out to try as hard as possible are going to circumvent that to keep all their perk slots. Meanwhile the casual groups out there- the ones who are not the problem, the group of friends casually playing the game and chatting- are going to be left one or two perks down when they were never that great to begin with.I could not have said it better Peanits. Many of us complain about SWF hit squads, but in my experience, those are far and few between. Most SWFs are not very good. I'm a bit of a softy and I tend to let some of them go if they played well, but just were not very good. Makes for fun convos after the game. I don't expect others to play that way, but it is how I have fun.

I don't dodge. I play it out. SWF with 4 toolboxes? I load up a goof-around setup with LF or Clown and no worries. They try hard, I play around. I get 20k for playing around, they waste a lot of good stuff and play sweaty for no reason. Kiler tunneling/camping, just focus on gens till I'm out or dead. Bad map, just play it out. The only map I hate is the new one. Horrible map.

Nobody really cares..play the game, have fun. Try to treat other players with respect. That simple.

Deranking is not the issue. Some people don't like playing in the tryhard region. They just want to have fun with less toxic people. Personlly, I hate playing the red ranks, not about the challenge, it is about the attitudes. I can chill out and play fun matches in mid ranks and let people go. The only time I play survivor is with my legally blind wife who is not all that good, so ranking up is not usually an issue. lol
Blame the game, and the toxic community. I play this game for fun, if I'm forced to play the toxic reds all the time, I'd quickly lose interest.

Been running Plunderer and Ace in the Hole and all I get is firecrackers?! #########! I've been toying around just handing stuff I find out, but all I get are firecrackers now.
