I would think it not a big deal if they had a disabled player send something in so a "specific" item could be given to their account or a separate software could be used, perhaps for color blind people who have to hunt like a T-Rex as killer. BTW, I know why no T-Rex bones were ever discovered in the Midwestern U.S., because they can't hunt anything in the freaking corn!
Any ways, the player base is so toxic that no game mode will ever be favorable to account for survivors with disabilities. I know because my wife is legally blind and struggles greatly with skill checks and running from killers, yet she is tunneled to death almost every game because SWF and all.
Therefore, I would love to see exceptions made and created for these players. I think it would say a lot for the community and especially the developers to be willing to go out of their way for those players. I'd rather see that then a new killer this summer.

Points don't really matter in the end. The experience getting said points does, and the killer experience is far worse than the survivor experience.
I guess it is just a matter of opinion. I find it complete opposite, especially since fun and getting BPs to drow your character base is how you broaden the gameplay experience. Killer is by far the easier path to me. Not alone e the more enjoyable one.
-
@Dark_Whorse I get what you are saying, but I disagree greatly on it being far worse to fail as killer. At least as killer you make minimum 15-20k unless you really got rolled over. As survivor, you can walk out with less than 1k if you had crap luck and meet the killer in the first 20 seconds then get face camped/tunneled to death.
I do get what you are saying overall though.

If you're looking for someone else to game with, add me. My husband is disabled so can't play and my kids are too young. I can always use a survivor friend, or even a good killer friend that let's me learn things like looking over my shoulder, which I still haven't figured out, good stealth play and better tactics. I can't rank up and learn better playstyle if I'm tunneled and camped.
I'll have to get a hold of you in a PM or something. Be happy to help out.

I used to feel exactly like you do. And also switced to playing killer more often. Tbh I am amazed how you haven’t changed your mind after playing killer more. It is ten times more frustrating as killer. You can’t play nice, you can’t play tough without being called many names after chat. Now when I get camped I blame my teammates and if I get tunneled that means I wasn’t good enough at evading.
Since we count our games today I played maybe 30 games as survivor at rank 2 and pretty much all gone the same. We start with disconnects either at loading screen or after they hear the nurse blink or Billy’s saw. Then area patroling killer never lets any unhooks or gets down the unhooked person immediately. And my last game a spirit couldn’t down anyone but me there was still 5 gens to go and my teammates did them all and escaped. And that was the first game I’ve enjoyed all day. Watching circling aimlessly spirit get -1 pip because of her lack of skills was enough for now. And thats on survivors not killer.
Honestly, toxic survivors don't bother me that much. I play for fun and bp. I have fun when I down the teabagging fella. Yeah, some of the matches are tense with the lovely after-game chat to follow, but most are not. That, and I can dictate if the killer is a prick or not. As survivor, I run into way to many tunnels and camps. No fun, very boring. I don't play toxic, and won't ever stoop to it because it is not my style. So I can't blame my wife and others when they get tired of dealing with the childish play styles.

Different game modes would be more fun.

His new power is to make all but one survivor start the game on the hook. Finally, a killer that so many on this forum can embrace. lol

It sounds to me like this games not for you.
No, the game is fine for me as killer. As survivor, no, not so much. Too much bs play. It is too often either a M1-simulator to beat a camper/tunneler, or it is occasional fun vs an actual killer trying to hunt down survivors as opposed to the simple minded camping/tunneling. Sorry, I'll stick to killer. Much better.

I still don’t get where there’s some set of rules against killers playing how they want to. Some perks promote tunneling and if I hook a person and they have a teammate dumb enough to pull them down before I have a chance to leave of course I’m gonna down the same one again. If I run up on a toxic survivor teabagging and acting like an ass they’re probably gonna get camped when I hook them. If somebody in the lobby won’t ready up and try’s to be slick and get a toolbox then ready up so the match starts thinking they out smarted me so I can’t change a perk to counter what they’re bringing they’re getting tunneled and camped probably. How I play killer depends on the survivors every match is different but I don’t go outta my way to be nice and give survivors any help usually. The killer is there to kill them to help them eacape.
That's great and all, but not every SWF is equal. My family swf consists of a legally blind woman, color blind man, and 2 who rarely play. No teabags, no flashlights. None of us have ever run DS. Nobody runs Adrenaline. Nope. We just try to have fun. But, we run into endless killers who hard camp and tunnel like crazy. They see SWF and they get all sweaty and have to end the threat as fast as possible. Thus, my wife and kids have had enough of the bs after one night of playing.
I'm back to killing with Trapper and Hag. No worries on that. This game will never gain greater population as long as it promotes this stupid play style. Whether it is toxic killers or toxic SWF's, this game is screwed when it comes to growth. they need some new game modes that eliminate those styles of play.
-
Yes. At this point, I am. I am bound and determined to prove to myself that there are more good killers than there are campers/tunnelers. I'm failing horribly. I'm ready to go back to killer. Survivor is so boring.
Much respect to you survivors that put up with this. Glad I don't do it. The game would be so unrewarding and boring to play as a tunneler/camper.
-
Well, back to the norm....
-
Holy crap! We just faced a great Spirit killer. No camp, no tunnel, good bp all around, and he 4k'ed us. Was a ton of fun. There is hope yet! 10/11.....
-
10 of 10. Jesus. This is nuts. Seriously, if you never leave the hook enough for your terror radius to go elsewhere, you are very insecure. This is a boring M1-fest. Keep in mine, 2-3 of us escape each round. It is not about escaping, it is about boring-ass matches.
-
9 of 9.....
-
8 matches, 8 campers/tunnelers. Wow. No wonder I get people actually giving me "gg - thanks for the fun" after my matches. So many crap killers out there. This is sad.
-
I get it it Dark, but when did 4k become the standard? I'm happy with a 2k. Granted, I regularly get 3-4k every match, but 2k is all it takes for me to feel like I did my job well. When did 4k become the standard for killers? Is it because of the toxic, crying survivor-types? (I know not all killers/survivors fit these categories, but it is getting worse and worse.)
-
At least we can't see what anyone posts on the forums. It is all white boxes and useless. That is a pretty good job so far if you ask me. :)
Seriously, this game is slowly spiraling. Whiny players plus uninspired devs are not a good mix.
-
Sad that you would be willing to insult any one religion. People hold that deer to their life. I respect anyone who lives by a code, whether it is religious or just personal.
-
Can't see anything that has been posted. Pretty good job so far....do you guys actually look at resumes when you hire? lol
-
Legion is no fun to play as, and even worse to play against. It is twice as much M1 as normal, and he really does not have a counter. I see every match vs Legion as a fun test to see how much I can get done before I get tunneled to the hook. Then, I let myself die and move on to another match.
As killer - I only play Legion if I'm stuck with his horrible daily. Worst killer to play as IMO. I'd rather play as Freddy with no perks or addons - as in Splinter Freddy, of which I played as 4 times today for fun. Got rolled once, it was ugly. Still more fun than Legion though.
-
I love when an axe flies by my head 4' from me and I scream in pain! Makes me stronger! Or I jump through a window in the killer shack and the killer swings by the pallet and hits me! Makes me appreciate pain!
Yeah, hit boxes suck. You know it is bad when you are playing killer and you stop after hitting someone to ponder at the fact that the hit actually occurred. I've had several ######### moments as killer.
-
NOED is a crutch and supports bad habits. They are not going to get rid of it though. I stopped running it and got way better as killer with Trapper, Pig, Clown, Shape, and Cannibal.
It is horribly OP vs solo survivors too. Played the rare game of survivor without my wife and ended up as a 3v1. Three solo survivors ran circles around this really bad camping Bubba who stuck to his insidious stick in a 3v1. We cleared the gens, and then NOED kicked in. In chat after game, we figured out the three of us cleared 4 totems. In a 3v1 solo survivors, NOED is the only reason that guy got any kills. That rewards a bad killer.
-
I've been waiting for some type of gamma/brightness support for colorblind players for a long time. I play killer like a T-Rex, I have to watch for movement because many survivors blend into the map. Especially Claudettes with the cammo shirt. I ran third party colorblind software, but it hinks up the cheat detector. Had to disable that. If I could brighten the screen sometimes, it might help some.
Try playing this game in nearly black and white and see how well you do following scratches. :)
-
Look, a huge problem in this game is that players are forced to finish very boring matches. I'm not talking about winning and losing, but some killers are just broken or very poorly designed. Some SWF groups are the same. I had an SWF group earlier that really made me want to just go afk and forget it. They knew every loop, window, pallet - all with DS, adrenaline, etc.
Legion is the one killer I despise running, and can't stand to face. He is insanely repetitive, horribly designed, and extremely boring. I do all I can to help my team, but once hooked, I'm out. I'm not spending 10-20 minutes holding M-1 vs Legion. There is enough M-1 in the game already, Legion doubles it. Devs should be slapped and sterilized for that killer. (Just kidding devs...mostly..)
-
Gen Tapping?! Seriously? When is it going to stop? Is that the new clarion call? Do you realize that gen tapping is in your favor? Would you rather they get gud and hit great skill checks instead? The more they practice at it, the better they get, then BOOM! It is like you don't have Ruin up at all. Gens are blasting away while Ruin sits there because they hit great skill checks.
I breathe a sigh of relief when I see gen tapping.
-
Don't forget - NOED seals the gates and hatch for x minutes or until totem is destroyed. Totem spawns, even if no totems exist. No exposed, just extended game time.
-
I get the feeling that some people thought this was serious.
No - It was sarcasm for those who complain about toxicity in the game. Just move along, nothing to do about it. The game breeds it, as does much of the crap on the net. Personally, I play a game for fun, if you are an arse-hat, I move along. I've met several fun people in this game and will take those instances when I can.
-
Boring. I hope they have better than that.
-
For the most part, it was a joke, as Chaotic said. The people on this board are part of the toxic problem.

I would be inclined to agree, but this change would basically be just for solo players. A group can already share how many totems each of them has destroyed to figure out how many are left, but a solo player has to check the entire map. Having that information available to everyone would help being solo players closer to a SWF level, which would allow killers to be properly balanced around coordinated groups. Putting it on a perk would mean that solo players have to use a perk slot to get the same information as they'd already have if they were playing with friends.
Not to mention it could benefit the killer as well. If you can see how many totems are left, you'd be able to tell if NOED is going to activate or not.

Not all SWF's are created equal. 2-Man SWF with 2 solo are not equal to a 4-man SWF. The only reason I say this is because tying it to only solo play is not exactly a fix. If the idea is a 4-man swf can communicate each doing 1-2 totems, then a 2-man has to search out all 5 totems alone.
Just playing devil's advocate.
-
Keys and Moris are very different. Hooking a survivor once, then downing them again is not that hard. Most matches now days are 3-4k with some exceptions for highly organized SWFs.
On the other hand, survivors must do enough gens to cause the hatch to spawn, then find the hatch to even use the key to escape. This is significantly more work than hooking someone, downing them, and killing them. Especially when you consider tunnel/camp. I have an easy time getting 3-4k matches in the majority of my runs. On the other hand, potato survivors can often make it difficult to get the hatch to spawn before it is open.
Out of the past 30 killer matches, I've seen less than 2 key escapes. Not much of issue there.
-
Made the switch months ago. Much more fun and lots more BP.
-
Trapper. I like the tactical gameplay. Sometimes you get burned by a good swf, or really good solo survivors, but many times I can rig one side of the field in order to stop the game in its tracks. It is a huge struggle vs gen rush on bigger maps though.
He needs an extra trap carrying capacity to have a shot sometimes. -
Another testimony to the lack of devil's advocate process. They should be trying to poke holes in their own design and identify short falls and exploits in their work. BHVR has one of the best idea teams and the worst quality control team.

When I play survivor, which is less and less lately, I bring whatever item fits the offering I'm tossing up. Objective - Toolbox; Altruism - Healer Kit; Boldness - Map; I hate using anything rare because that is a call for a camper/tunneling killer. If I use a Cake, guarantee it is a 3v1 camper. Use a streamer - infinite loading screen. Bleh - Survivor is less and less fun with each new bug.
-
I think it is more that they realize the survivor numbers are dropping and some form of balance is needed. Business first, sensitive forum whiners' feelings second, or third, or not ranked.

Core changes are neither a buff nor nerd. They just balance out how the perk is played. It is an excellent counter to tunneling now. I have never run it, but might consider it. As killer, it does not effect me much because I abhor the easy down and usually show mercy to the wounded hookee if I see them right after they get off. So I'll rarely get DS'd.
The real nerf is on the obsession perks. Will never run one again. Especially Dying Light and OoO. Really stupid change for no reason. -

The explanation is simple. They played OP for so long that they never developed real skill in the game. Now that the balance is shifting they are far behind the killers who had to play with one hand behind their back.
I hear this a lot, and I honestly don't have the frame of reference due to only having played since last summer. I'll count it as legit, but that does not change the fact that the game is struggling to keep survivors right now. I don't think they need an "easier" win/escape. I just think the game needs to improve on that side of the game. More BP, more options for activity aside from sitting on a hook and being camped, holding M1, or running around a pallet. The thrill may have been the ability to out play the killer in the past, but this empty existence was exposed when that ability was equaled out.
Either way, it is unhealthy for the game. What would be so bad about giving more bp incentive, or more activity to survivors? As long as you don't tip the balance of game play, what do we care as killers? I just want to make sure the quality of play increases and we don't lose more survivors.

As I was mentioned in this thread I would like to say that this game is continually going through changes in the hopes of improving the game. Every game is a continuous work in progress, as developers want to add more enjoyable content to their games - if the change doesn't work, it will be revised until we can find a stable medium. In all fairness, yes, games go through lots of changes. That said, there is some strange level of short-sightedness in DbD development. Take the new DS changes for example. Great core changes, then you toss in Obsession change that makes zero sense, and jacks up multiple survivor/killer perks for absolutely no reason. Why should the survivor who already used DS become the obsession? For a roleplay purpose? ######### cares?! I'd rather the dead Obsession that triggered Dying Light stay dead! Or if I ran OoO I now get to hand it off to the jackball that ran DS? I never, ever run DS because I hate 1 time use perks. So you are taking my perk and giving it to him?! Do the developers ever sit around and talk about potential short-falls/exploits at all? Based on what I see in this game, no, they never do.
Ya'll seriously need to step it up in that department. I've been noticing more and more people on my friends list not playing DbD anymore and it is because of short-sighted changes/nerfs to either side. Legion is a prime example of this insanity. I don't know if you need to hire a quality control expert, or just take some critical thinking courses, but you seriously need a Devil's Advocate process in your development team.
-
I switched from survivor to killer months ago because survivor game is so flat and the bp grind is ridiculous. Killer is much more dynamic, it is way easier to gain BP than survivor, and I can dictate more of my matches than I could as survivor. I don't have to worry about having that crap luck where I start next to a face camping killer after using good addons/offering and leave with less than 3k bp. Instead, I have the rare swf hit squad, in which I still get 16-20k bp even if I got rolled. Killer is by far the better role, especially since the healing changes, and several other survivor nerfs. I find I have to purposely pull back in order to not 3-4k every match.
In short, once you get better at killer, it is a much better role. When you see that SWF with flashlights, etc, load up mori and franklin's and use as needed.
-
Why not just drop the Obsession part? It is pointless and absolutely wrecks several perks. I will never run OoO as survivor because I never run DS and don't want to lose my perk bonus to someone else. I will never again run Dying Light because it is absolutely pointless. Not to mention the headache you are causing with other perks.
I congratulated the devs on a well-thought out plan for DS, but I have to criticize the fact that you guys never seem to understand the consequences/pitfalls of some of your ideas. Very short-sighted with this Obsession issue. If someone uses DS, they used it, why does the killer care if they are the Obsession?! I know I don't. I'd rather be able to count on who Rancor/Dying Light/PwYF/StBfL is going to work/not work on. Now I have to alter constantly as killer, or just give away my perk bonus as survivor?! Absolutely foolish.
-

That mentality drives me crazy as killer or survivor. Every time I burn a good offering or addons there is 2 DC's or a face camping killer. A killer that will at least let me get a few BP's out of the match is a godsend in my book. I hate wasting those things, especially since I don't spend much in BPs on survivor. As killer, I always let them get a couple gens, totems, chase points, then murder them dead. We all get points and move on. Why screw each other over more?PhantomMask20763 said:I would've just killed you then and there to not waste both if our time. I'm sick and tired of seeing people say it but never say why. The perk has ALREADY gone through SEVERAL nerfs and nerfing anymore will break it to the point where it's completely useless OR it needs a whole new effect like Tinkerer got. So please, someone tell me why you feel it needs to be nerfed, as of right now I think those people are complete noobs and stupid but if you have a valid reason please tell me because I don't like judging people. Also why not offer your rework?
I see both sides of the NOED argument. At high ranks, it punishes gen rushers. In the green/yellow ranks it is a crutch for a bad killer - and can hinder learning how to play killer effectively. Face Camp+NOED equals 2-4 kills easily in those ranks.
Easy Fix:
Nobody Escapes Death should freeze all forms of escape while it is active. No door, nor hatch can open while the totem exists. Not even a key can open the hatch if NOED kicks in. This forces the survivors to find the totem before getting any progress on the gates. There is no insta-down. The killer still needs to find, chase, and down survivors normally, but has extra time to do it in. Keep the speed boost. This still punishes the gen-rush and adds time to the game, but does not reward a bad killer with instant downs and easy hooks.
-
1st and foremost, I'd like to congratulate the developers on what appears to be an update in which you brainstormed certain short falls. When I first read it, I thought, wow, this is a perfect setup for camping/tunneling with the excuse "...thought they had DS." But, the part about juggling and the check coming as you are getting picked up was a nice anticipatory move!
I like, and dislike the change. I play mostly killer with some survivor, but have never run DS, nor will I likely ever run it. I like that the perk does not take effect until after the first hook, and within 60 seconds of unhook. It may actually discourage some tunneling/insta-down camping. On the other hand, I don't like that the timer was shortened. That's right, I said I don't like that it is only 3 second base timer for the stun. Now, if Enduring does not work on that stun, then I'm 100% fine with it. Some further ideas:
- Enduring should not apply to the stun period unless the last gen is completed. (Nothing worse than a long stun as you are trying to get that hook when the gates are open!)
- Disable the obsession change if someone is running Object of Obsession. (Not sure if this was addressed, have not read through the multiple pages of stuff.) If I'm running Object of Obsession, but no DS, and some twat pulls off a DS, do I lose my perk? WTH should I lose my perk benefit because someone else is running an unrelated perk?!
- Make sure the timer is not running in Dying state. Slugging should not be a counter to DS. We are talking about a newly limited 1 time use perk. So, if I slug a survivor right after they get off the hook, and I wait out 60 seconds to pick them up, they should still be able to strike me.
- Consider allowing it to trigger during a Mori within the same parameters. It is no different in its purpose. Just make sure the Mori is not wasted. It does not get expended (Ivory momento) until a Mori is completed.
I know a lot of killers won't like those, but I'm not about easy games. I did not like DS as it was, I still don't like that it is a get out of jail card, but if you are going to limit a perk, don't fully neuter it. Perk slots are precious, which is why I don't use a one-time use perk like DS when I play survivor. I prefer stuff that benefits me throughout the match.
