Nearly every single survivor says that the chase is the most exciting part of the game, but when you chase a survivor for too long or outside whatever bizarre conditions they come up with as being "fair", they accuse you of "tunneling" and "ruining the game" for that player.
Very lazy logic. Most people enjoy the chase, but if you are coming at them right after the hook and they have not even had the time to try and heal or move out of the area, that is the opposite of fun. Especially right off the hook. That is fishing in a barrel with explosives. Too easy for the killer, no chance for the survivor.
The evasion and the chase are fun. I don't consider any "downing" from an even starting point (any point in which I was not just getting off the hook when immediately tunneled down) to be a fun, and fair event. I am usually laughing my arse off by the time the killer downs me, whether it is seconds or minutes into the chase. (All of this does not apply to Legion, whom does not have chases, just barrel fishing.)
Problem is, those are few and far between anymore. I don't play survivor much anymore, but when I do, it is mostly killers who hard camp and tunnel, or Legion. Very boring, thus why I prefer killer now, by a long shot!
-
I am so glad I don't bother dodging. I might if I'm out of Moris's and a streamer is in lobby, but swf does not bug me enough to dodge.
As survivor, I see 4 dodged lobbies for every 1 accepted, which usually has a 300 ping. Guess U.S killers are scared more than European ones are?
-
I think the activity Icons would be a great help for solo players. A totem counter as well. Perhaps a minor map feature, if they are within 16 meters of a gen that has zero progression, the gen is highlighted.
These functions only work on solo que and cancel out if you end up in lobby with a member of your friend's list.

He probably played against low ranks, and he probably used only the good matches like in all his videos.
No hate towards Monto, I watched some videos back then and enjoyed the content. But its funny how some people say that Monto is better than tru3 for example, while tru3 verses the sweaty tryhard bully squads and Monto uploads only how he stomps potatoes.
Not really impressive that video imo
No comparing the two. Tru3 cries about op survivors while camping like crazy. Then mocks survivors that are not toxic. The guy is annoying and pompous. He often uses Monto's build ideas weeks after Monto and still acts like he thought of them himself.
I used to be a Tru3 fan until I really broadened my knowledge of the game and content creators.

Sometimes survivors force hook chasing and tunneling upon themselves Bc they unhook their teammate while the killer is near or chasing them.
I agree. I hate if I'm on a hook and someone is trying to get me off in front of the killer when the killer has not been camping. Or when they run the killer around the hook. Take the killer away from the hook!
I play much more killer now than survivor, but I see this all the time. I usually will try to go for the idiot survivor, unless they have been toxic. If I do down the rescued one, I'll typically leave them and chase the farmer.
Just a dumb move if the killer is not camping.
-
I'll be taking a break until they sort this out. Match making is horrendous right now. I'd rather wait 10 minutes as killer and ha e lower pings survivors and appropriately ranked ones for a good match than this dumpster fire we have right now.
What the heck are the devs thinking?!

I mean I agree that BP gain in general should be higher but if you're getting 40k per game as killer it means you're really putting in the work for it. Plus killers get one use out of their add-ons and no means of getting more outside spending points. Survivors have near infinite use provided they live to keep said items.
I can take in 40-50k in a chili match easily. I hook each survivor once, chase and down them over and over, let them all go and it's easy 50k.
-
I am non-stop flabbergasted at how blindly biased both sides are. Survivors are not too strong. The average survivor gets destroyed by below average killers. On the flip side, really good survivor TEAMS destroy really good killers.
The problem is how powerful things become in the right hands. The biased "mains" think blanket nerfs and buffs will fix it all, and the developers just keep piling on new killers and perks that exacerbate the problem.
Maybe, if we stopped pointing fingers at the other side and tried to get constructive on how to fix them, we could close the gap.
But, you will likely prefer to keep screaming and crying instead.

How you comparing BBQ, a perk that has about 1 billion counters, with pre-balanced DS is something I cant understand...
You missed the point. DS and its issues are a developer problem, not a survivor abuse issue. You can't blame survivors for using a perk given to them. No more than you can blame a killer for using a perk given to them. Everyone knows killers hate ds. Everyone knows survivs hate certain killer perks.
Stop trying to find fault in the other side when the fault lies in the development of the perks to begin with.
-
If they added bp rewards to crap perks, survivors would run them more often. Case in point, WGLF, and PTS. Though I play less survivor with each chapter, I can't remember the last time I ran Adrenaline, or even an exhaustion perk. I usually run bp perks, with plunder/BK/DWM/Alert/Spine Chill/Kindred/Breakdown/Ace in the Hole (usually with Plunder). I can't stand the meta perks as a player, but admit they give you the best chance at survival.
That is the problem. We call them Meta, but in reality, they are a players best chance to survive a match. Therein lies the problem. There are so many survivor perks that are useless. There are also several killer perks that are useless. Monstrous shrine anyone?
-
Survivors have not been abusing DS anymore than killers abuse Chili. We play the perks as they are. Frankly, the endless loops, camping, and tunneling are absolutely 90% of the problem in this game. Too much toxic play style. (Add overall teabagging in.)
The new DS should not work with Enduring. I say that as someone who stopped being a survivor main a long time ago. I enjoy the killer life much more because I can dictate how I run each match, and still get a ton of bp while doing so. DS sucks, but it is not game breaking. Some killer mains cry and whine about the new DS, I would like to see it even more of an anti tunnel perk. I don't think the timer should run while in dying state. Slug em, and still get DS.
This game needs new game modes that take into account the toxicity that looping, flashlight bombing, organized toxic SWFs, camping, and tunneling create. Would love to just see this as a fun killer vs survivor game without all the crying bs.
-
2nd Objective with good BP bonuses would change this game for many people. Think of the Halloween event, but not quite that bad.
-
Just had a 3-man SWF with DS, Adrenaline, SC, and a random for their fourth. Only one was up before the last gen was done. He was injured, but got his boost. I had thought ahead and trapped both gates. THe one solo lands in the trap, I down Mr. Adrenaline, 4k.
One out of 10 users of Adrenaline actually escape the chase. I can't remember the last time I ran NOED. Sometimes people escape, sometimes they all die before a gen is done. There is no uber meta, just good players that can use skills better than others.

The fog ones can definitely go. Screw the super-ultra immersed Survivors. Sorry, but you can’t stay invisible.
The shrouds should be reworked unless the devs just can’t fix the main problems. Then they can be retired from public matches.
I just find it funny that you are using the Doctor as your avatar and are talking about "super immersed" survivors. Ummm....no such thing with the Doctor.
Seriously though, leave the immersed ones alone. It is a play style and is meant to be that way. There are so many addons, perks, and powers that destroy stealth, a bit of fog should not be an issue.
-
I don't use either as killer - last thing I want is 4-man SWF spread on 4 gens, or a fog machine blocking view of the claudettes.
As survivor, I use both, and would like to keep doing so.
-
This is funny, considering so many killer mains and streamers talk about how survivors knee-jerk react to changes, then adapt. Such as healing nerfs. Which is it? This is why I can't stand the whole killer vs survivor main idiocy. It lowers the brain cells of all who make the claim.
-
It is simple. Legion's power has no counter, other than more holding of M1 and hoping it is not an exploiting Legion. If the player wants to down you, there is a 90% chance they will by tunneling you down. I've watched some good killers face some good survivors and Legion wins every tunnel.
Stealth - Does not work
Speed Burst - Does not work
Pallet Loop - Does not work
Break Line of Site - Only works if Legion is not running sloppy or bloodhound, which 80% of legions run.
It is not that Legion is too powerful, it is that he is broken. I don't run Legion much after his initial release. I found him to be too annoying and a bit too easy to kill with once I decided someone was going to die. When I play survivor, I'll give my best shot to survive, but if I'm hooked, I am dying on hook immediately. I don't want to sit in a 20 minute M1-fest to appease the guy on the other side of the screen. He/She does not care about my enjoyment, why should I care about his? Next game please.
-
Stuns are not worth the perk slot 90% of the time. With Enduring, it is maybe a second plus a fraction of a second. One time use of a perk for a 1 second stun? No thanks.
Head on is a joke of a perk. The killer has to be very close, and you have to be in there for 3 seconds, just to get a 1 second stun (if they pack Enduring). Nope. Too situational. Not many locker builds out there. lol
-
I'm not sold on 2v8, but I do agree we need a new mode. Maybe a mansion survival death match or something. I was being looped with Freddy earlier and just got real bored. So, I stopped chasing and just started trying to get and keep everyone in dream world. DId not chase, or hit, just sleep, sleep, sleep, etc. Was actually more fun...weird.
-
This thread has turned into its own version of Legion. It is tunneling the reader to the point we are begging for it to be over.
-
Some of us don't consider ourselves either. Sure, I play killer much more than survivor, but I started as survivor. I understand the concerns and issues with both. I find myself often disagreeing with both sides as they often see it from only one stand point. Myself, I see the need for both. Without survivors, nothing to kill and long waiting times. Without killers, nothing to run from and long waiting times. I hate seeing so many survivors switching over lately as I have noticed wait times changing at certain times.
Balance in this type of game is hard, but it is exacerbated by toxic "sides" and a development team that may not always consider the major ramifications new perks might have on other killers. IE: new DS and how it destroys several other perks. Or how perks that shut down 3 gens in the beginning may make it more eventful for some killers, but make killers like Nurse and Billy, who are already very powerful, even more dominant. Not helping.

Could you explain a bit more why you don't like playing with a streamer? I don't really understand the problem so far. I'd say the percentage of toxic players is higher with those who don't stream.
Also, as you said most streamers don't have a lot of viewers. What's the difference between 4 people seeing how you play and 14 people?
Well, for one, I play to relax. I play to "escape" after work for a bit. I don't play to support someone else's efforts at fame or money. Furthermore, as someone mentioned above, many times games are compromised because of streamers. I also don't care to have my steam ID plastered all over someone else's site when what I play is none of their business.
I could go on, but I think a certain level of decorum should be kept. If we protect names here on the board from name & shame, how come we don't protect those ID's in game as well when a large portion of players stream now? I'd like to see some form of anonymizer in place.
-
Well, did you face camp? If so, you are going to bet some toxic results back. Toxic play style gets toxic responses.
The personal attacks are too far. Ignore it.
-
Sorry, but Legion equals suicide. I don't play much survivor, and I'm not about to spend the little bit I do play against a killer so poorly designed he is a tunnelers dream. Holding M1 is what is boring about survivor, so here's Legion, who will make you hold M1 almost twice as much! Or, he will tunnel you down and there is little you can do about it. Sloppy, plus blood hound equals easy moonwalk exploit.
I suicide the minute I'm caught. And I don't run him. I tried him for a while, but I found him to be very bland, and without decent counters for most survivors. I'd rather be forced to play only Freddy with no perks.
-
Look, Legion is broken from the start. Deep Wounds will not work. No matter how you twist it, the killer is meant for hard tunneling and there is little to no counter for it. Especially when you add in things like sloppy, blood hound, etc.
He needs a whole new power all together. Something worthy of his name.
Ideas:
- Legion's power is to "duplicate" him/herself for short periods of time during a chase. If Legion engages in a chase or strikes a survivor within X range of another survivor(s), one of those "other" survivors sees an image of Legion spring forth and begin to chase them for a short time. Any skill checks attempted are very difficult, and a 25% action speed penalty is enforced. Meantime, real Legion gets a blinking red outline to his screen that intensifies as his decoy gets closer to the other survivor. Legion can choose to replace an image at any time. (Addons can extend the the range, or even number of duplicates)
- In conjunction with the above, Legion coats his blade with a poison that has a similar effect to the Clown's intoxication. It blurs the vision for a few seconds (addons can change the effects)
Ideas:
- Legion coats his blades with a poison. When he strikes you with it, the poison begins to hinder the survivor in any one of several ways. The longer the survivor is poisoned, the worse the effects become. Survivors can cure the poison through special vials that spawn on the map. Those vials require the survivor to stop and "apply" the cure for x amount of time. The cure does not heal wounds. If the survivor avoids healing the poison, their vision can become extremely hindered.
- Legion has a limited set of applications of the poison, and must refill it throughout the match.
Clearly, these need refinement, but I figure it is better than just complaining.
-
Too much toxicity. I'm not sold on the balance either. Killer seems too easy now. I often find myself 3-4k'ing without addons and using a joke perk set. Like I jokingly used Mad Grit,Shadowborn, Monstrous Shrine, and Territorial Imperative on Freddy and 4k'ed with 4 gens left.
It seems the better survivor players have either gone killer, or left all together.
BP grind is also a bit much lately.
-
Body blocking is a strategy. YOu learn to work around it. Nothing exploiting about it. Free hits on survivors. You can always set down the one you are carrying and chase them off.
Mad Grit is a perk on Legion. When you swing at survivors with one on your shoulder, it causes that one to stop wiggling for 4 seconds.
Seriously, body blocking is not that bad. Don't let it fool you. You will learn to work around/thru it. I suggest you play survivor and killer for a while. Learn how they both operate. Makes you better at both, and appreciate why some play styles are just plain toxic.
-
Legion is clearly a millennial. Insult him/her and they will stop hunting you to complain to HR. Get the gens done in the meantime and escape. :)
-
Any farm map for any killer for me. I'm severely colorblind, so farm is insane. I have to hunt like a T-Rex, looking for motion. Swamp is not much better, then again, the lower floor of Game is rough too.

Rank reset wont mean anything when they allow Rank 20 to play with Rank 1 next patch.
From that day on watch as the game slowly dies as we get no new players to actually stay long enough to learn.
New players are already dwindling due to smurfs running toxic swf styles on new killer players, or killers hardcore tunneling and camping new survivor players. Can't grow a player base by allowing that kind of playstyle.
Oh well. Rank reset is upon us. I'll avoid killer until the red rank wannabes move on. Will instead follow around an urban evading claudette and throw stones at her.
-
Personally, I don't like playing with streamers. They should be required to get permission from other players before streaming, or have to blur out player names. They should not be able to profit off of other people's actions. Thus, I see streamer in my lobby, I load a mori just for them. I don't want them in my games.
I don't usually like any form of camp/tunnel, but streamers are the lowest of the low in my opinion.
-
@TreemanXD It quoted the wrong one. I was talking about your original post.
-
Letting the DS obsession bleed out, I’ve done it two games recently and it is the most satisfying thing as killer.☺️
Kinda sad that you are that upset about someone using a perk. I rarely single out anyone for ds use unless they were already toxic. Then again, I probably take this, and all games, less serious than you do.
-
I'd have each tier prevent a broken hook. So at tier three, no hook is broken by sacrificeing a survivor. Furthermore, each tier has a built in oak offering effect, moving hooks closer together.
-
As killer, new ds will not likely impact me much. I rarely tunnel unless it was due to hook swarming. I prefer to pressure gens.
As survivor, I have never run DS, even before switching to killer. I don't like perks that only work once. Doubt I'll use Head On as the radius is too small and 3 second timer makes it useless in a chase. I've only been stunned by it once on PTB, and secured numerous survivors due to the effort.
-
@Master said:
Had this a few times too lately.
Survivors come into my lobby, press ready and then blame me that their connection sucks.
Lobbies are showing green ping, but once in game, it is deep red. Played 2 survivor matches today where that happened.
Personally, I don't think weak connections should be allowed to host. Massive advantage for them.
-
Legion always gets easy 3-4 because most DC or suicide. Build does not matter.
-
Legion needs a whole new power. It is not just that his style has little to no counter play, it is also the fact that survivors want more than holding M1 in a match, and Legion requires you hold M1 almost twice as much as usual.
Average match:
- Crap, it's Legion
- Deep wounds applied, Legion runs off
- M1 to mend - move to a gen
- Legion returns, applies Deep Wounds
- M1 to mend - wait, no, he is on me this time. Dodge, duck, dive, dip, dodge - did I lose him? Nope, he's moonwalking. Hold M1 - down.
- Off the hook, ok, move to a gen - nevermind. Deep Wounds again. Hold M1.
Rinse, repeat, and either add in more moon walking tunnel action, or insidious camp action. Either way, Legion is extremely boring. That is why most either DC or suicide on hook. Would rather face Insta Chainsaw Billy, 3-5 blink Nurse, or any other killer. Heck, give me a camping Leatherface over Legion. Seriously.
The developers seriously brain-farted when they created Legion's powers. He needs a total rework at this point.
-
Legion is the best tunneling killer that has ever been produced. Not exactly what survivors wanted to see.
New DS promotes slugging. Not exactly what survivors want to see.
Overall, no, I don't think they are pushing us to play as survivors want us to play. They may be discouraging camping, but the rest...not so much.
-
Honestly, most of the time, I either quickly down someone else, or down the DS user within 10-15 seconds. DS by most users is a waste. Now and then, you get those really good SWFs where DS is killing you.
-
@Orion said:
There's only one solution: everyone should play the Legion until all the DCers get banned.
Pretty dumb idea. You won't have anyone to play against. Survivors are making a statement to the devs by dc'ing or quickly dying to Legion. Similar to a boycott. I, for one, support them. I don't run Legion, but do heavily play Trapper, Clown, Pig, Hag, Wraith, Shape, and Doc. I don't get that many DC's.
I rarely play survivor, but will not play a full game vs Legion. I die on 1st hook every time. Dumb design and mostly toxic azzhats that play him.
-
I'm sorry, but I have a strict Legion rule. Play hard till caught, then die on hook asap. Legion is likely the worst design for a killer one could think of. I only play survivor 20% of the time. Holding M1 through the deluge of campers and tunneled is already boring enough, but here's Legion! His ability makes you hold M1 twice as much! Nope.
I can usually avoid the first hook for a gen or 2, so not like I'm completely screwing over the team, especially when one is my wife and she has the same rule.
Does not help that 90% of Legion players are massive tunnel and camp types.
-
@PiiFree Great, so competitive players can rank up and enjoy being competitive. Everyone else can ignore rank and depip so they can enjoy playing against others that are not sweating at the keyboard over a depip. No, I'm not insulting you or others that care about rank. I'm saying that you will try harder to obtain rank because you feel it is a sign of your skill (unfortunately we all know DbD rank is not about skill, but more about time).
DbD is not a competitive game, it is more of a casual game. This game's balance is too out of whack to be considered a competitive game by industry standards. Therefore, rank has no material meaning in the game, at all.
-
If that is true, what is an ebony mori? Sorry, but the hatch is not free. You have to achieve 2 gens, then still find it and get out.
Yes, mori is cutting the game short for players with mini8effort. Not hard to hook a survivor, then tunnel them down as many do. Less work than hatch.
-
I don't find gen rush to be a big deal all the time. Even with Trapper. I keep pressure on 4-5 gens and that usually does it. The SWF hit squad can alter that greatly, but those are not overly common.
-
@MhhBurgers - I don't think making survivor hit boxes is a good idea, as there are already way too many hits that should be misses. I think the key would be to make the killer's hitbox smaller so they can move around pallets as tight as a survivor. That would cut the chase down significantly. Granted, killer's blocking basement would not be the same, but it would be a small price to pay in order to cut those loops down. Would also really help killers like Trapper as survivors can often avoid traps but he can't. Smaller hit box would allow him to continue the chase.
Just a thought.
-
Considering the massive grind on both sides, I second this motion! Seriously, we are way beyond this cap. Why do we have the cap anyways? Not like it is helping us get bp faster. Just lets us save up to invest in a character or two. If we could save more bp, just means we spend more at once.
Seriously, this cap is way out dated.
-
What does rank mean?
What do you get for ranking up?
Is there a prestige outfit for hitting ranks 15, 10, 5, 1?
Is there a series of perks only available to ranks 1-5, 6-10, 11-15?
Is there a bp increase by rank bracket?
Perhaps a iridescent shard bonus for high rank matches?
Wait, I know! Is there a blood web discount based on bracket?!
No.
Rank has zero meaning other than an ego stroke. Let me explain one of the primary reasons people don't rank. Red rank players take themselves way too seriously and tend to be twice as toxic as all other rank brackets. Been there, done that, did not get anything for it other than lots of toxicity. In other ranks, I can have fun matches. I can let survivors run out the door, or I can make sure the killer gets me before I escape by "accidently" forgetting a pallet was used and loop in the wrong area. Why would I do that? Because the killer is obviously new, but played a great match.
See, some of us don't care about escaping or 4k's. Some of us just want to have fun and have a few laughs after the match. The higher you go up the ranks, the lower your chances of that. You think Rank 1 survivors are going to play "get the totem" with Pig/Hag? (A little game I've created in the game. It has been a blast and most survivors have participated. Lots of laughs.) No, red ranks are not going to give a flying crap about it. They want to pwn the killer, or the killer wants to pwn the survivors. It is an ego stroke, nothing more.
So, I don't sweat depips. I do dislike those who do it just to bully lower level players. That is pointless. Is their life so pathetic that they have to bully in a game? /shrug
-
Good points. Though I would add that Trapper might benefit from a smaller hit box. I've seen survivors weave through the pallet even when the trap was well centered, but Trapper can't get close without hitting it. Smaller hit box might make him more able to continue the chase without being hindered by his own traps.
I also agree that the survivor hit boxes should not be increased. I can't tell you how many times I've completely stopped out of pure shock that a swing hit the survivor. I jokingly performed a quick swing at a survivor who was almost a pallet's distance away, because we were actually having a fun match and goofing off, and it hit! We both had a good laugh after the match, but come on!
Hitboxes, lets work on them and hold off on the next Meg outfit, eh?
