Get them off the gens. Don't chase one person the whole time. Don't be afraid to drop a wounded survivor chase to scatter other survivors and wound them. Kick gens when the opportunity presents itself.
Never, never keep chasing the guy who is looping you from one pallet to another. Chase him long enough to peel off and surprise survivors on a gen. They know you are chasing and keep working while in your TR, then you hit them out of nowhere.
-
The hatch is what it is. There are much bigger issues to be fixed. It does not bother me as a killer, or a survivor. Honestly, if the killer is guarding the hatch, I go look at gens. If the survivor is not around the hatch, I seek them out and trap the hatch. If I get them, great, if not so what? Next game please. I'm not entitled to the 4th kill, nor am I entitled to the hatch escape. Both are earned one way or another. If I really want to 4k, I slug the 3rd, or I kill them before 2 gens are done - of which has happened a ton during this event. Ruin+Huntress+OC seems to be magic right now. Lots of potatoes playing survivor.
I'd rather see DS, Fredd, Trapper (extra trap capacity), new objectives, new game modes, and hitboxes fixed before anything about the hatch. Seriously.
-
Survivors who get camped/tunneled from the start are lucky to get 1k. How does that matter? I'll take 15k for not getting a single kill over 500 pts because someone decided to camp the first hook to death.ColonGlock said:@Dreamnomad said:

Give killers more bp for dealing with that crap.Killers already get way more bloodpoints than survivors.
Killers who get destroyed by 3-4 man SWF are lucky to break 15k during those matches.
You act like every swf is a hit squad. Most suck and are an easy 4k. Problem is the good ones stick out more. Use them to get better. That is how I learned to hit the 360, or anticipate the flashlight save. Heck, if not for those hit squads, I would be struggling more as a killer. Instead, they inadvertently helped get better so I could wrek most games if I want to. -
I get that, but after hundreds of hours of gameplay I think the player's preference should be considered. Not saying to stop all dailies for characters not used, just saying to make the player's preference more common. I'll never enjoy running Huntress, Nurse or Legion so why do I get dailies for them 3 times a week? I go in, frenzy 4 times and go hang in the basement because I despise the character's gameplay. Not fun for anyone. Once a week would be better.Milo said:- Daily rituals just advise you to play diffrent characters. Do you have to do them? No. You can change them once per day.
And if you're getting ONLY Jeff and Jake.... Level them up quite a bit. Get their teachables maybe? - And this i want ^^

The problem with complaints about SWF is it discounts the fact that most of them are worse than solo survivors. Much as psychological studies have shown, we are impressed upon more by those traumatic, or more frustrating events and often see them as the norm.
I've been keeping track of as many matches as I can to see how many have either 2 swf groups or one of 3 or more. Easily 70% of matches in rank 8-12 range have them. I 3-4k most of them, but when you get that tight squad, it is tough! I'm happy with a 2k in those. I've honestly stopped fretting over them as much and almost enjoy those challenges now. I try to use them to get better.
To sum up, SWF is not the big bad we make it out to be (except perhaps at red ranks) and punishing them across the board will greatly damage the game, being that most are casuals that already get destroyed. Squashing the largest section of players to appease the smallest section is bad management. If we are to better balance that top end, then the answer lies in making tweaks based on red rank SWF groups. -
This. As someone who mains Trapper, I feel his time is spent setting the field too much, which means you struggle to engage until 2-3gens are done. It forces Ruin or end game builds. Some of these ideas, especially #of traps and resetting triggered traps while holding others would make a big difference without being too powerful.ChesterTheMolester said:Would not fix him at all. The traps usually spawn in horrible places in the open, and sabo is not that huge of a deal for him right now.
Here are the changes i'd suggest that i think would make him viable, i mained Trapper for well over a year until recently.
- Increase the hitbox slightly, survivors can literally touch it and not get trapped, its to small to trap pallets if it wasn't placed absolutely pixel perfect.
- 2 Traps are removed from the map and given to Trapper by default, can hold more traps by default. Bag addons spawn more traps instead.
- Trapper can rearm disabled Traps while holding bear traps.
- Escape RNG is now a replaced with a fixed channel, affected by perks and addons of both sides. -
The frustration is in how many killers and survivors are acting. I can't tell you how many killers have flat out said they only care about denying survivors points. They'll camp, tunnel, mori, do whatever to stop them from geting them. I've never seen so many insidious campers in a 48 hr period. Add in the survivors that are sandbagging and avoiding gens in order to play for hatch...this event is horrid.

most of the ppl enjoy the events. ofc there will always be some that dont, but thats just a little percentage of the playerbase. so basically no one cares mate. This is not how I would categorize things. Most of the toxic players come out for certain events, especially this one. I hate when they run these ill-executed events. It is obvious they never had a conversation about how their toxic player base might exploit aspects of it. Such as, 5 killers have no DC'ed tonight when we are about to escape with lanterns. Or, countless survivors DC when it is obvious they won't escape. Why? Deny the killer that 2 point hook and potential lantern hit.
Bah, I hate these events and tend to stay away. I'm finished with this one. Got one outfit and will wait till it is over.
-
Hallowed Blight any day over this crap.
-
You can't fix it. Some of it is whiney players who don't want to get caught. Some of it is pure toxic intent. Lots of it is absolute frustration with toxic play or facing the same killers that were toxic repeatedly. Some of it is exasperation with SWF play.
Until BHVR cleans up the toxic gameplay in general, they will never stop DC's. -
Their events feed into the most toxic playstyle imaginable. Killer or survivor does not matter.
-
For a "survivor sided" event, I got coins much faster as a killer. Odd.
-
Too expensive as survivor. I went through it much easier as killer getting 50k+ in a match while avg 25+ pts. Much easier to get the envelope that way. Survivor play is the worst right now. I dread my wife wanting my help getting Feng's outfit. Going to be painful. I offered to just buy it.
-
This is the problem with the game. It is not balanced, therefore not truly a competitive game. It encourages severely toxic play. So bad that when you are playing nice, nobody believes it. I had to change my name ot LanternGiveAway and just run around the map chasing, not hitting, before people actually believed that I was letting them get lanterns and escape.
Yes, I did that, why? Because I could. If it is all good for killer players to be super toxic, it is all good for them to just be a decent human being as well. No, I don't expect others to do it. I expect them to play the game, but the level of toxicity from both survivors and killers is ruining this game.
-
Yeah, had that happen when I was running solo survivor. I switched to killer. Goofing around, letting peeps get lanterns. If they leave a survivor on the hook (I hook 1 each for chilli) then I find them and kill em.

Well if those guys wanted to farm coins, then they would be playing survivors.
Not really. I've made much more coins as a killer. The survivors are so toxic it is nearly impossible to get away, and your lucky to get 8 coins. Once 2 gens are done, it is a contest to outlast each other for the hatch. I lose because I keep trying to do gens...you know the objective. I've been playing Trapper and getting more than 20 points a match easy.
Are you playing at rank 20 where the survivors still havent understood the concept of genrushing?
Ah you only got 20 points, as survivor I get easily twice the amount while eating

I'm playing solo survivor at rank 8. It is nothing but sandbagging SWFs and tunneling killers. Glad you are having better luck. I've been doing great as killer, so no worries.
-
I honestly think BHVR does not brainstorm these things. They don't sit around and say, hey, how can these ideas go wrong? Lets toss some stuff on the board here and talk about the most likely issues that might arise.
Nope. They get a good idea and willy-nilly it together. How can you not see this stuff. I said this would happen the minute I saw the announcement. Same with the Halloween one. Great ideas, horrible execution.
-
Honestly, I've noticed almost all survivors doing it. Solo or SWF. The one good group I had was a SWF (3-man). They actually worked together and risked themselves, and lanterns, to get me off the hook after gates were opened. Was the only fun match I had as a survivor.
Been singling out the betrayers as killer though. Having fun letting the ones that are actually playing the game go, but murdering the azzhats.

Though the points are very survivor sided on paper, the entire design has caused survivor point average to be horrible. Played 3 survivor matches tonight, and 15 yesterday. The point average was 12 or less. Survivors are hiding, sandbagging, and otherwise screwing over each other in order to escape via hatch with lantern. Killers are running Mori while hard camping. It is nuts!
I average 20 or more points with killer easily. Just chasing and hooking. I have yet to get above 30 in a match, but that is ok. Better than getting 4-8 with the occassional 12.

On top the time you can get one is way to short.Fix this damn event for Killers!!!!
Try playing solo survivor in this thing. I play killer mostly, but am trying to do some dailies and get some points. Every survivor is a hiding, chicken crap and every killer is a camper/tunneler. I average less than 10 points a match. As Trapper I was averaging 20+ a match. Since this event began, I've run 14 survivor matches with only 1 having more than one get out. I ran 22 killer matches with only 2 matches where more than 1 escaped.

Survivor gets significantly more points than killer(assuming they actually escape) so no one wants to play killer right now. Besides, half the people playing right now aren't getting points cause the event is bugged. This was not my experience at all. I get around 27 points a game on killer, was averaging maybe 12 as survivor. Too many DC's by both killers and survivors. All the killers are camping and tunneling. Heck, I even had a hard camper running an eboni mori! WTH is that?!
Staying with killer. Trapper is doing just fine. Just need a few more points for the one outfit I want. Then can let survivors collect all they want in my matches.

I'll tell you the same thing I told the other guy frustrated with playing a survivor. Try playing killer for a while if survivor is too frustrating. If that is too frustrating then perhaps this isn't the game for you.I switched to killer a long time ago and will never go back. It is far and above better and less frustrating than survivor. You don't depend on crap team members that do nothing, or sand bag. You dictate whether the killer is prick in the match or not, and tons more BP. I'll take it.
PS - Every match of survivor I have played today is a camper or a tunneler. It is absolutely unbareable gameplay.
There's plenty to take into consideration on both sides. Killers can tunnel and camp, that is a poor plan for game play as you'll get far more blood points if you simply play the game as intended. None the less tunneling and camping are part of the game, but this event has blown it way out of proportion.
In a time limited event people will play however they need too in order to maximize return for the time spent. Which is why playing survivor is the best choice at the moment. More event progression per hour. After this event its back to 50/50 game time on both sides.
Based on post game chat in a few survivor matches I was in, non of the killers cared about getting points. They only cared about denying survivors points. It is what it is. I get much more as a killer right now.

Not really participating. Not playing survivor at all - It is unbareable. Half the team DC's, killer goes nuts with Mori, then mocks in after chat that you got no points. I'll stick to killer. Averaging 20 points or more a game, and I can decide to let survivors go if they were not being jerks during the match. Need one more coin (3rd) and I'm out till its over.

Play killer and tell me how many points you make per match.
Now compare that to what you make as survivor.Btw, only 1 survivor needs to escape with the lantern.
Way better points as killer. Survivor is plagued by very try-hard killers and survivors DC'ing. My point average last night as survivor was 16 points, today is less than 10. As killer, I averaged roughly 18 last night, it is above 20 per match now. I'll stay away from survivor for the rest of this event.

And you didnt touch a gen in this 45 min?
This is holding the hostage.No. I did 1 Gen. Hard to do gens when you are the only one in the map. I did 1 gen, destroyed all totems, got all the chests. Not my fault the killer is being an azz and try-harding on 2 survivors with 1-shot hatchets. I had a similar match running billy earlier. Except, I let the survivors do a few gens, then killed them. 5 minute match, all got some points and on to the next one. Not hard to be a decent human being, for some at least.
-
Personally, I am no longer playing survivor during this event. I've never seen a more toxic time of killers. I average 24 points a match with killer, average 13 with survivor. So many DC's and killers are try-harding left and right. Just had a match that started 3v1, with a second DC in the beginning. Killer camped with Iridecent axe head when she downed the one of two survivors. So, I put on my toxic hat and got really immersed. Destroyed every totem, did a gen, and hung out for 45 minutes. Almost every match is a tunnel, or tunnel+mori combo. They are not going for points, just trying to keep you from getting them.
I've been quite merciful as a killer during this, and still get over 20 points a match. If you have a lantern at the end of match I let you go. No worries from me.
This game brings out the worst in people. Very sad indeed.

Seconds as a killer is MASSIVE when there are THREE other survivors hammering gens. You are underestimating that time a lot.
Tbagging and flashlight flicking doesn't get you killed because of how unbalanced the game is. They can just do it all they want at a pallet and simply move on to the next. Also, those seconds wasted on ONE survivor is hurting your killer time much, much more than the time he is wasting. The seconds aren't equal.
I play killer too, there were times that I literally got somebody because of tbagging (not flashlight clicking though)
It is true that killer has that time problem but getting that one hook might fck up survivors badly too. It just happened to me yesterday when I was playing killer, all survivors later flamed that dude who was trying to bm and getting caught easily because of that.
Also slashing somebody on the hook is not the only bm killers can do as well. They can nod at you, very similar to tbag which takes no time at all since you can do it on the move.
That's anecdotal.
In general it's just that survivors have tons of extra time to just screw around where as the killers do not. That's the simple answer.
Lots of killers have all the time in the world. They sit in a corner quietly and stare at the person on the hook. I think I saw Wraith pull out a cell phone and play 'Words with Friends' with Huntress the other night. Seriously, toxic players are going to play toxicly. The problem is when we all endorse one style, but condemn another. Both are toxic, both are unsportsmanlike, both hurt the game in the long run.
Just last night, I finally convinced my oldest son to play again. We joined in a game, and he got tunneled to death by Nurse in less than a couple minutes. Had 300 bp for the match. He uninstalled again. So much for that. Some say, "good, he does not have the guts for a game like this..." No, he does not like playing a game where one is a complete victim to the childish nature of another. He is still learning the game and a smurf rank 18 Nurse utterly destroys him. (No new player with a nurse can anticipate and operate nurse as fluidly as this player. He even admitted to being a smurf afterwards.) How are you supposed to bring in new players when they get obliterated by toxic smurfs before they can even learn the game.
I watched a well known streamer run a series on a smurf account about getting rank 20-17 with no perks/addons. He destroyed a lot of players that were new (and ran into several smurf survivors that want to grief new killers) in no time. How is that fun? How does that help the game and give it a stable growth? It does not. It hurts the game, and condemns it to a slow death in the long run. Personally, I'd like to see the game grow because at its core is a fantastic idea. Unfortunately, its community will be its death.

•Feng: I’ll start out with hers, the outfit is amazing! I love the design and how well it goes together.
•Ace, kinda lackluster. Good in concept, but doesn’t suit him.
•Huntress: I love the Head, but it doesn’t blend well with anything but the outfit it’s with. The outfit is lackluster, nothing great there. I love the weapon, goes well with everything.
Don’t hate on my opinions, and don’t take them as hate
I agree with you on all accounts. I don't run Huntress or Ace, so have zero interest in their cosmetics. Sure would love to have one of those outfits for Trapper though. Wouldn't he be spiffy in a nice suit?!
-
Personally, I have stopped really participating on either side. I ran 10 matches on both killer and survivor last night. Averaged roughly 14 more points per match as killer, but found it to be very underwhelming and not worth the effort. I had to go out of my way and stop putting pressure on gens in order to break lanterns, and that started to cost me when facing SWFs. I found it more fortuitous to just hook them and smash one if it was in my way.
As survivor, the escape rate is much lower right now because so many killers are using the thousand ebony moris they got during the holiday event. Out of 10 matches, there were only 2 in which more than one person escaped, and that is because a moron used an ebony mori, and hard camped each hook! WTH was that?!
Anyways, the bp awarded for the event is pitiful compared to the Halloween event, and it is just not worth going out of your way for. There is only one of the cosmetics I want anyways. (I don't run Huntress or Ace! Perhaps a nice Chinese-themed suit for Trapper?! He would look so dapper in one.)
-
In a way, Prove Thyself is a counter to Thanataphobia, and the natural nerf of having more than one person on a gen (10% debuff for each additional person beyond one - exact counter). That said, if all gens are done by 4 people, Prove Thyself creates a roughly 33 second difference in the time it takes to do 5 gens. (Only 1 gen per map allows 4 people on it. Many only allow two.)
I honestly have not seen too much of a difference, and I would say only 25% of the groups I run into are running it. Yes, the occasional try-hard SWF is all geared out with it, tool boxes, and brand new parts, but a dose of Franklins, iridescent stone, PGW, Ruin, and OC/HL tends to break up their party nicely. That's not to say they don't sometimes get the best of you, but by no means would I consider it too powerful.

Wow. I can't get over how many of the players on this forum are so entitled to what they see as theirs. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the hatch. We are not entitled to 4k. If they do two gens and that is it and the 4th gets the hatch, I lose zero sleep over it. I'd rather that than some drawn out hide and seek. If players have zero hope other than the gates, we will have far less survivors and no game to play.Get over your entitled mentality already.
You're missing the point, it's not a 4k entitlement. Entitlement means it is undeserved.
What if when the gates were powered one survivor just auto falls over dead. BRO you're not entitled to escape EVERY GAME. You see what I mean?
Killers aren't upset because they didn't get a 4k. They are upset because they won the game and EARNED the kill. The survivor lost, they didn't earn the escape. Just like a survivor auto dying on gate powering would make you mad because you had earned the escape.
You fail to understand the point of the game. The hatch fits the horror genre perfectly. Everyone dies, but one did just enough to squeeze out. The survival rate is below 50%. If you take the hatch away, you discourage survivor play even more. The hatch is not a given for a survivor. I rarely get it when I play, but I usually let them take it when I play killer. I play killer much more than I play survivor, but survivor is flat out boring.
As for "winning the game" - you did not EARN that 4th kill unless you downed that 4th survivor before the hatch. That is the plain fact of it. If I don't down you before you hop through the hatch, oh well. Well played. I know you don't like hearing that, but it is the plain fact of the game.

No, I'm saying it is a choice. You can choose to be all serious and get frustrated with other people's gameplay, or you can choose to stop running the rat race and play the game for fun. I gave up caring a long time ago. Probably why I'm not in the red ranks anymore. If I'm playing survivor and the killer is just getting smoked, I'll let them catch me. I don't care. I'f I'm outclassing the survivors, I'll toy with them and let them go. Why? Don't care. You choose to get frustrated with toxic players, that is your choice.
Guess what Rank 1 means? Absolutely nothing. Zero, zilch. You get nothing out of it other than ego boost/bragging rights. The game is meant to be fun, and sweating over the few toxic SWF's that hang out at rank 1 is not worth it.

@Blueberry I played Trapper at Rank 1 and survivor to know that 95% of all the players in the red reanks are sweaty or toxic. There is little fun to be had with anyone at that level. Killers blame survivors, survivors blame killers. In reality, they are both toxic most of the time at red ranks.
