  • I'm 100% sure the reason Lucky Break has a timer is because all perks need to have 3 tiers and they didn't know what else to use.

Btw I think "still using Workshop Grease" is more a thing because you don't see how many skillchecks survivors get. You have absolutely no feedback on the performance of addons like this, you have to see it from survivor side. Not a reason of wording. I would not use these addons because skillchecks are easy, not because any numbers that disappoint me.

    No.

If the Pig isn't using Crate of Gears or Bag of Gears, the maximum possible amount of Skill Checks you can have while using a Jigsaw Box is 3-4.

Because the Skill Checks are already happening as often as they possibly can, Workshop Grease and Razor Wires actually add nothing.

This has absolutely nothing to do with "feedback" or "expectation" or whatever else your trying to peddle.

Another case of numbers that confuse you. The video tape also give 50% reduced charge time. Stacking them neither reduces it to 0 nor to 0.25 seconds, so it does not work the way you expect either by knowing the numbers. (Btw just tested it to make sure I'm not wrong. Charge time without addons is ~0,875s with the yellow addon ~0,575 with both addons ~0,5)

You say that "slightly" is misleading. Actually it is not misleading, the validation you give is based on the numbers, that you don't have by the wording. You got the numbers and after that you start evaluating if the wording matches your expectations. Just having the wording would give you an idea of what happens, having the numbers starts the confusion, expectation and everything else. Good example.

We can argue if slightly is not the correct word for this addon as the change is quite remarkable. My position regarding wording vs numbers is still unchanged.

And this part about having to test add-ons? And even how I got some numbers wrong?

This wouldn't have happened if they just had numbers in the descriptions.
  • Have you tried purchasing more cosmetics?

  • This wouldn't go the way you think it will.

If there is a survivor with bonus repair speed, that survivor is now the only one you will ever see.

If there are no survivors with repair speed, the next one is movement speed.

If there are no survivors with repair speed or movement speed, next is vault speed.

If there are no survivors with repair, movement, or vault speed, no one will care and nothing has changed.

  • Because for the most part, they are happy with the way Legion and Pig performs. In the future they plan on making only minimal changes to their base kit.

What I say is that numbers can be misleading, using the same 4 words over and over again for several different mechanincs aren't. We can discuss what gives you more value, depending on comprehension, but there is nothing to discuss that numbers without background can be misleading. This is and was my point the entire time. Glad u got that now.

Using these vague words can also be extremely misleading. My favorite example is The Pig's Workshop Grease vs. John's Medical File.

Workshop Grease says it slightly increases Skill Check Trigger odds for Jigsaw Boxes. Now what does this actually mean in terms of numbers? +1%. If the Pig is not using any add-ons to increase the time it takes to search boxes, specifically Bag/Crate of Gears, the survivors will only see a maximum of 3-4 Skill Checks. The Skill Checks are already appearing as fast as they possibly can because Jigsaw Boxes have an absurdly high 80% trigger chance. Workshop Grease literally only adds 1% on top of this, making it 81%. This isn't even remotely close to """""""""slightly"""""""""", it is actually worthless.

John's Medical File slightly reduces Charge time of the Ambush Attack. This is going to be something useless like -1%, isn't it? 50%. The default charge time is 1 second, and this brings it down to 0.5 seconds. Because the Pig's Ambush Attack gives an audible warning, this means that survivors have half the time to run to a safe location. This also gives survivors less time to react if you do not play the Pig stealthily and instead prefer to use her Ambush Attack at unsafe pallets. This add-on also has some niche uses, such as making it easier to preserve stacks of Save the Best for Last.

Because both of them use the exact same word (slightly) and are both the same rarity, new players assume they are both equal in strength and usefulness. I still see new Pig's using Workshop Grease and Razor Wires (+2% btw), even though these are both effectively useless.

Thank you for this @Hoodied it explains things very well.

The Devs do know their own game, they know their game very well indeed. And yes, Billy will now require that little bit more skill to effectively manage his power - I personally don't see that as a bad thing at all. He's still going to be very strong and there's still going to be counterplay to him.

I've been playing Billy since 2017 but okay then. I don't play with add ons and I don't play like aids either. Curving and Feathering are still there and that's all I care about. If you're holding your chainsaw all the time you're already playing Billy wrong.

I'm glad this is happening too, just like with Nurse it'll purge all the boosted Killers. Good Nurse's still kill everyone and good Billy's will do the same.

So when do we start purging all the boosted survivors?

Sorry I forgot, only killer players are ever the problem.

Yeah, best thing to say, right? "You are new, i know better after 2000 hours and that's why my opinion is superior." And you know what? I'm not new. 50 hours is enough of my time investment in one game. I'm new with 5, maybe 10. Also i will never waste 2000 hours on that game. And i will not waste time to watch some streams. If game like this cant give enough feedback to player, it is badly designed. Simple as that. Lets be honest here, this is not MMO, roguelike, flight simulator or any other complex idea of a gameplay. Its simple.

Anyway, i know how this perk work. Don't treat me this way.

Also you should learn how to read.

...it is like talking to a brick wall over here. :-/

I don't have problem with perk, i know how it works, I DON'T KNOW THEY HAVE IT SO I CANT REACT TO IT.

Damn, it is really so hard to understand?

Let me put it this way, following your logic - You guys should always expect someone could sneak behind you and slap your head with baseball bat. You can duck, so you should be ducking all the time to prevent this from happening. And when i finally sneak behind you one day and hit you like that, you cant be mad at me, because you should expect i will do this, so it is your fault for not ducking this one time in the right moment.

Every survivor with experience always assumes the killer has BBQ and will play around it.

You are not used to playing around it because you are inexperienced.

  • @CornHub said:

Genuinely curious as to what that would be. For example at the moment with killer sided hit detection someone with high ping could get a fair hit on their end, but on your end you wouldn't be near enough for a hit. So if a survivor had high ping would they not be hit?

If you ever saw that one video with the 2 hacking survivors were every attack would phase through them, it's like that but everyone has it.

  • @GreezyWeezy said:

You should have lured him away from the basement. Especially after wasting his time long enough for 3 gens to pop.

Yeah, he should have just unhooked himself so he can distract the killer so he can get unhooked. Entirely his fault.

  • If you are never in a situation where you can go through the pallet to hit the survivor, then this add-on is detrimental.

It's speed limiter but without the bloodpoints.

  • Hope shouldn't have a duration, it should be permanent when activated.

  • Botany Knowledge + Self Care as it is now has the downside of taking up 2 slots, while also being slower then a Med-Kit heal.

If this combo was no longer slower then a Med-Kit, the downside of taking up 2 slots would no longer matter, as having an invisible Med-Kit with unlimited charges would vastly outweigh this. Self Care would once again become the meta.

  • @Hannon said:

I mean, I think increasing the healing speed to 50% instead of 33% will make the perk so much better without being broken..

and healing yourself with botany+selfcare will be less painfully 😅

"and healing yourself with botany+selfcare will be less painfully 😅"

    Not happening.

Healing yourself with Botany Knowledge + Self Care (50% + 50%) would then become identical to using a Med-Kit (100%). There should be a downside to getting free unlimited healing.

Bubba is an A tier killer.

I honestly think Bubba isn't that bad, he just needs some love. As well as every single one of his add-ons getting looked at.

  • It should be permanent.

But because perks need to have 3 tiers, this now needs some second part to it with numbers, for leveling.

  • i dont know how to make it a link lol

    1. Doing gens is boring because skill checks are inconsistent and don't happen often enough.
    2. The Pig's Workshop Grease, Razor Wires, and Interlocking Razor add-ons are worthless and Jigsaw Box skill checks are too easy.
    3. Decisive Strike should have a part for Great Skill Check which does the full 5 seconds, with a Good Skill Check giving the old 3 seconds.

I still agree with all of these.

  • If it worked, Devour Hope would give the same movement speed boost as 1 stack of Play with Your Food.

    You would notice it.

  • @Orion said:

Not superstitious either, these are all entirely based on confirmation bias.

    • Whatever BP offering you put up, the game will work out in such a way that it becomes the worst scoring category for you. If you put up an Objective offering as survivor, for example, you won't get any generators done (maybe you'll be on a hook for most of the trial or just get chased for a long time).
    • Whatever killer you play, you'll get the worst possible map for them (for example, Nurse and any Coldwind Farm map).
    • If you burn a Memento Mori, you'll be placed against survivors who demonstrate that the game is indeed survivor-sided.
    • If the killer burns a Memento Mori, all your teammates will be instantly replaced by their younger siblings who just learned how to pick up a spoon.

The BP thing is too real.

    • Survival - Guaranteed death
    • Boldness - Killer refuses to chase you, can only find broken bones
    • Altruism - No one allows you to heal them, would rather do gens. Everyone beats you to unhook.
    • Objective - Killer tunnels you / you're the only one going for unhooks.
    • Bloody Party Streamer - Mori/tunneled out of the game, 4000 bloodpoints at most.
  • Every killer in the game + Pig.

Everyone can crouch down for an ambush attack.

  • We need the fortnite default dance for both survivor and killer.

  • @megansnotcreative said:

okay this post is probably gonna be a mess bc it’s early and i just lost red ranks to a doctor but..

cmon dude the doctor is literally the definition of broken. he can make people scream & reveal their location, and, without cooldown, can stun the survivor from vaulting or throwing down a pallet, or can bring them into tier 3 madness in only a few seconds.

my first game ever playing killer i got merciless with doctor. that shouldn’t be able to happen that easily.

i don’t even know what id suggest in replacement but tbh anything other than his ability to prevent you from doing things, like vault or throw down pallets. maybe if he had like a cooldown on his shock therapy..? it’s just stupid because he takes no skill and can just prevent someone from doing an action.

Coming up with a replacement for his powers is actually pretty important. Anti-stealth and anti-loop is literally all he does.

Also your first game ever as killer is obviously going to be easy, due to being at rank 20 despite having game knowledge.

As a Survivor player I'd be very ok with this. The traps are suppose to make survivors come off of gens to take their death trap off. this way their power isnt completely negated, well done. +1

This is about Trapper. You don't need to try escaping 12+ times from a Pig you silly billy.

I honestly believe luck is invisible in this game.

The only two things that Luck does is increase your chance of escaping a bear trap and unhooking yourself, nothing else.

In other words, you want it to not be random any more.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1268664#Comment_1268664

That is what they do. Computers, being deterministic machines, are not capable of true randomness. They use pseudo-random algorithms (already written in every programming language, they didn't write the algorithms themselves) that are indistinguishable from the real thing unless you examine the output values one by one and realize they're in a sequence (of about 2^32 numbers, if not higher).

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1268707#Comment_1268707

Guaranteeing that it happens at a certain point is literally the opposite of random.

The PRD I'm talking about is something I saw in Dota 2.

Instead of Trapper's bear traps being a 25% chance, it would start at ~8.5% then add another ~8.5% for each failure to escape.

This would help stop cases where survivors seem to escape on the first attempt every time, but would also save the people in this thread who said they had to try 20 times (because the chance would continue to increase).

  • If you want to see a bad killer+perk combo then look at Huntress. Not only are her perks terrible, but they also don't work on her.

Beast of Prey - throwing a hatchet removes bloodlust. Unless you plan on chasing the survivors for 15+ seconds without using a hatchet you won't get anything out of this.

Territorial Imperative - could potentially catch some one going for the chest, I guess. But only if you are over 32 meters away. Have fun running all the way over to the basement and searching for a survivor who may have already left. 110% speed btw

Hex: Huntress Lullaby - only becomes useful after hooking multiple survivors. 40 meter warning + 110% movement speed. Good luck defending this long enough to get stacks.

  • Running Scared

After stunning the Killer with a pallet, start sprinting at 150% of your normal running speed for a maximum of 3 seconds if not exhausted.

Causes the Exhausted status effect for 60/50/40 seconds.

Running Scared cannot be used while Exhausted.

You do not recover from Exhaustion while running.

Doubt I need to explain myself.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1268629#Comment_1268629

It could be alittle more controlled so it cant take between 1 and 20 tries because obviously a trapper would have a easy game if all survivors took like 15 chances to escape and a hard game if it took them all 1. Like how otz suggested and he is a trapper main. Same with the pig and her jigsaw boxes.

    They could use pseudo-random distribution.

Doubt they will, but it could work.

Here's a clip that hopefully shows what I'm talking about. As you can see after hooking one Kate I went to the shack and almost lost the other one because the scratch marks stopped at the opening but continued outside which is why I got confused and turned around at first. She was outside of course.

    https://youtu.be/dT3FMc-RKTI

And just in case that one's not clear enough here's another one. The moment I drop the Adam on the floor, someone please explain to me why the hell there are marks under that pallet even though the survivor clearly went AROUND it?? Not to mention the patchy marks she left after running away from me. I know I'm not seeing things guys.

    https://youtu.be/YI08WfBpzmg

Sorry for the crappy sound I had my mic on and it recorded my laptop fan. I can upload the whole match later for context there were a few other questionable scratch marks throughout like no marks under pallets, marks appearing after a few seconds delay or simply just going in a different direction than the survivor was running in. Someone please test this!!

The scratch marks on the second video are insane. They actually seem to imply she ran through the pallet, when we know she went around.

  • Any time I play a killer that's not meta and don't use meta perks or mori, the survivors do gens in my face and booty dance at the exit gate.

I have 1000+ hours in this game (mainly as a Survivor) and I can't really tell why I feel like this. Something just feels off with those aspects of the chapter.

    Am I alone in this?

I don't know if I'm imaging this, but Dead Dawg seems to have the fewest pallets out of every map in the game. It seems to exist for people who want to play immersed.
