  • Huntress; I P3'd her some time before Halloween 2018.

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

I know because I earned the P3 achievement for Huntress, but I also P3'd Nea before the Halloween event so I wouldn't lose any Spooky Halloween items if I later wanted to Prestige her.

She was also the first Killer I ever got all perks on.

  • It's probably because of how different his carry animation is.

Every other Killer put Survivors over their shoulder, but Nemesis puts them under his arm.

I'd guess the devs are still creating a unique animation set for him, since he can't use the ones other Killers use.

I'd hope grabbing isn't just going to be impossible for him.

Hey, I'm just surprised at how you remember all of that! That's awesome. So unlucky you didn't get to make it out but at least you had fun. Thanks for sharing with me! I wonder if you still use Dwight til' now...

No problem; I'm glad you liked hearing about it.

I don't still play as Dwight. I was a Killer Main from the start and just didn't play Survivor much at all at first.

When I did decide to give it more of a try I started maining Quentin and Nea.

And, unlike Dwight, I have played them until now, some 3 years later.

  • My very first Survivor game I played Dwight.

I remember because I picked the pink Dwight pants and I ran around looking for the Killer until I got chased.

I pallet stunned and taunted the Killer, before dying almost immediately after.

I then Kobed immediately, wasted a pallet, and then died because I didn't spam the struggle button enough.

It's a game that will live forever in my memory purely for how dumb amd incredible it was.

    -

The map was pre-nerf Pale Rose (longtime players will remember how stupidly gigantic that map was) and the Killer was a Hillbilly that never used his Chainsaw.

I only played RE4, and it was like a decade ago. I don't even remember the villain at the end. (Sorry, I'm not a RE fan.) But I would like Leon as a Survivor, he's the only one I know. XD

I expect two Survivors (one female and one male) with legendary skins (so we can play more than one character, like Lisa and Cybil for Silent Hill).

I think I'll get a notification from YouTube when the live starts, but someone can reminds me the time? I do hope it's in the morning, as it would mean it'd be in the end of the afternoon in my country so after I've done my missions of the day.

To the best of my knowledge it'll be at 1 PM EST.

I don't know your timezone, but based on what you said I'm guessing that'll probably be late at night, not during during the afternoon.

  • Both of these Killers.

Spirit may be controversial, but at least she has a functioning power that gives people a reason to play her.

T&T are just very badly designed and in desperate need of changes to be more fun to face and play as.

    -

Trickster needs a rework - being a low risk, low reward Killer isn't fun.

It doesn't matter how much he misses, he will hit you enough times eventually. However that eventually is long enough that the Trickster will probably lose the game if he chases Survivors that play around his power.

And on the flip side the Survivors are going to go down, unless the Trickster has bad aim or is scared to commit. You can't loop a Killer that only needs LOS to down you.

    -

Twins needs major changes. They have no play style outside of camping and slugging.

And even if you enjoy camping and slugging, they now suffer worse from BT than other campers and their slugging is softcountered by Survivors that just stay together in pairs.

This is to say nothing of the many bugs that they still have, which make the experience of playing them a bit... Unpredictable.

You're much better off playing Bubba or Huntress if you want to get your slug or camp on. And if you don't you're probably not going to have fun playing as The Twins.

As for facing them; Victor has no chase music and doesn't count as being chased by the Killer with regards to BP or Emblems. There's no reward for wasting Victor's time unless you crush him.

Crushing him also isn't very rewarding (outside of it being great fun to watch the animation) because Charlotte gets him back in about 6 seconds. You gain next to nothing for doing it, and it's not something you have control of anyway - The Twins have to mess up for you to be able to crush Victor.

And finally, facing the Twins is only really doable if you're in a SWF or are playing with REALLY good solos. No BT, WGLF, fast medkits or buddy system mean that the Twins can absolutely slaughter you and your team. It's not unusual for people to bleed out, or nearly bleed out, from all the slugging. And there's not much fun about spending 2+ minutes watching the faint auras of your random solo q teammates as they get chased.

    -

TL;DR ::: Trickster needs a rework and Twins need a major overhaul.

  • Bedsheet Ghost Myers or we riot.

    halloween-michael-myers.jpg

    Shirtless? Never!

    Ogre? Whatever!

    Ghosts Are Forever!

  • Quentin.

    -

When playing Survivor, I use a BPS and play as Quentin every time I meet a fellow Sleepy Boi Main.

BPSes aren't Offerings you get a lot of.

I haven't levelled Quentin since the 4th year anniversary.

I still have BPSes on him.

  • Huntress.

I first played her back in early 2018 when I had almost given up on DbD.

Then I learned, on PS4, her DLC cost the high price of zero dollars and zero cents.

So I decided to 'buy' it and try playing her. Her lore interested me (it reminded me of Ft13's Jason) and I liked the idea of chucking Hatchets at people.

I ending up having a great time.

I still got mostly 0ks and 2ks, but I just had a lot of fun playing her. So I stuck around.

12 DLCs later, she's still easily my favorite Killer in the game. She's just fun to play as.

  • In no particular order: Samurai Jack, The Powerpuff Girls, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Avatar the Last Airbender, Scooby-Doo (the old Hanna Barbera ones), Ed, Edd n Eddy, Dexter's Laboratory, and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

I feel obligated to mention that I didn't have cable TV as a child; if I saw a show we either owned it, rented it, or had gotten it from the library.

The only time I saw Danny Phantom (edit: or the original Teen Titans cartoon - that show was great) was when I was at my grandparents' because they had cable TV. And most of the time I was too busy playing with toys or spending time with my extended family to watch TV.

  • It wasn't what I was looking for in a Resident Evil game, and I didn't like it.

I think a perfect example is during a roughly 3 minute sequence early in the game where...

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

Ethan gets thrown down through multiple floors by Lady Dimitrescu and into the basement, but just gets back up and immediately taunts her.

So she cuts his hand off.

But it's okay; he just grabs his dismembered appendage, sticks it back on, and immediately goes back to shooting squads of baddies in the face.

(Yes, I know there's a reason Ethan's "pretty tough, huh?" That's not the point - the point is that the tone of the sequence was not the tone of a horror game.)

It felt like an Action Adventure, not a Survival Horror.

    There's also the story.

Quite a few of the early story beats make no sense in hindsight and about as many others are just unexplained and apparently forgotten. Before anyone says, "but it's a game series about magic super viruses, you shouldn't care," there is a difference between suspending disbelief and ignoring bad storytelling. I recognize most people probably don't care, but I did.

It wasn't objectively awful, and it had some sequences I liked, but I just did not have a good time with the game.

I'm glad other people did like it though.

  • They might have, or it could have just been a way to get it out of their inventory or flex on the other people in the lobby.

Who really knows why anyone that burns a discontinued Offering does what they do. Those psychopaths. /s

  • If we can pick licensed characters:

    Amanda becomes a Survivor.

Yea she's killed people, but so has Bill (I'm talking from the comics, where Bill more or less murders a bunch of military Survivors). She also lived through not one but two of Jigsaw's death traps, beat a drug addiction, and kept going despite having suicidal feelings.

Ash becomes our 3rd Chainsaw Killer.

He was always more of a survive-by-killing-everything kind of Survivor anyway. Plus Ash's chainsaw hand and broomstick are also iconic parts of his character. And we get to hear Bruce Campbell say "Look who's [BAD WORD] in the tall grass." when we find an immersed Claudette. Absolute win IMO.

If licensed characters are off the table:

    Adiris joins the Survivor squad.

We desperately need some pre-20th Century Survivors in this game. Adiris could have some sweet cosmetics and her original lore makes her seem a lot more like a hopeful Survivor than a murderous Killer.Killer.

    Nea joins the Killer squad.

For the memes mostly. But also because a Stealth Killer that uses Spray Paint in various ways seems like a fun idea to me. It could be a power somewhat like Plague's where it starts out as more of a way to blind and or debilitate Survivors and then transitions to an attack power when Nea combines the spray with a lighter. Also it'd be fun to use it to write on the in-game environment.

  • @Squirrel_Thicc said:

Because I think she has an interesting character design. A freakishly tall old timey vampire woman who lives in an old castle? Awesome.

See I can get behind this, but I'd also rather BHVR make their own cool original vampire Killer than steal Resi's rather disappointing (IMO) attempt at one.

Especially when RE has other things we could get instead; like Tyrants, Lisa Trevor, G-Birkin, or Alexia Ashford.

Heck, if we have to get a modern RE Killer, Heisenberg or Jack Baker would be better (IMO) than Dimitrescu.

Her concept is neat, but Resident Evil has a wealth of more interesting characters than a 19th Century woman with bad nails.

I'm pretty sure Mushwin is just joking around.

  • I laugh and generally give them Hatch if I'm in a winning position as Killer. Life for the memey one.

If I'm playing Survivor, and not the one with No Mither, I will die for them and then laugh when they die despite my sacrifice.

what perks/add-ons with huntress made you gradually get better, or perks that made huntress easier to play. I main huntress mostly but I feel as if i am not using her to her full extent.

Flower Babushka, the new increased speed add-ons, oak and bandaged haft, and the belts are probably her best add-ons.

There are a ton of strong perks on her that would be meme-tier on other Killers.

Shadowborn helps a ton if Survivors try to run around you when you pick up a Hatchet at melee distance.

Iron Maiden speeds up reloads noticeably, and combined with the Gloves you can actually reload midchase.

Deerstalker makes finding those silent slugs a breeze and makes sure you don't spend any more time than necessary looking for the fruits of your Hatchet frenzy.

Agitation speeds up your hooks and can help you place Survivors near progressed gens or in defensible locations. It can honestly help you change the course of a game if you use it to help you get to tactical hooks.

Bitter Murmur isn't expected by Survivors most games and hard counters stealthy genrushers - a play style that is the bane of Huntress. It also lets you go for fun cross maps.

Gen regression perks like Ruin + Undying, Pop, and Thanatophobia work as well on her as any other Killer.

Your main gen slowdown should usually come from your ability to chase multiple Survivor at once though. So perks like Discordance or Corrupt that make finding grouped up Survivors easier are probably your best bets.

Chase perks like Brutal Strength and, no joke, Enduring can make her really strong too. But since her power is already based around chase you'll probably want to use spmething else in those perk slots.

Tracking perks like BBQ and Whispers are also really good, but not absolutely necessary. BBQ is good for fun cross maps and identifying where every Survivor is, while Whispers is just one of the best all around tracking perks, but perks like Thrilling Tremors and Spies From The Shadows (not joking, this perk can be really strong - especially on indoor maps with many crows) will be better bets since they can help you identify close Survivors and can get your snowball rolling a lot sooner.

She can use other perks too, but those are the main ones that come to mind now.

    -

All this said, the biggest thing for playing really well as Huntress is practice. More than perks or add-ons you're going to want a very good grasp of when, how, and where to use her power.

It will honestly make the biggest difference towards playing her at her best.

  • @IWasLeft2Die said:

I somewhat expected the game to have killers with skins themed around the survivor base skins tbh, especially the original ones.

For example, Trapper getting a Dwight like skin (glasses over mask, disheveled tie outfit).

It would be super Goofy, but I think it could be pretty fun for the game honestly. Thoughts?

Honestly, I've wanted something to this effect since the store was introduced.

As well as Survivor versions of the original Killers. Imagine repairing gens as a Kazan the father and son, not Kazan the monstrous rage demon.

Or seeing what art nerd Evan MacMillan was like, before he became his dad's mass murder accomplice.

If they were creative with it and made it visually interesting, I feel like it wouldn't even look out of place.

  • @C3Tooth said:

I find the universal ships is fun too. Like Meg with Trapper outfit, Nea with Wraith outfit...

Wait, I thought it was David x Trapper and Nea x Meg...

Does this mean I come from a different universe?

  • As someone who didn't get Yun-Jin and did get Trickster, it was because there are too many Survivors.

Like sure Yun-Jin is cool; I like her lore, I like her look, and I like her cosmetics. I like that she's a selfish Survivor.

But at the end of the day she's not really any different gameplay-wise from Quentin or Nea.

I have all perks on Nea, why would I buy a Survivor that I'll have to spend millions of bloodpoints on before I can play her without being at a disadvantage? I already have like 15 other Survivors I can do that with. They're all cool too.

I like Yui, I like Heather, I like Meg, I like Detective Tapp, I like David King, and every other Survivor. But I just do NOT have the free time to grind out perks on those characters.

Why should I spend Shards or money to make an already impossible grind even harder?

I'd rather spend my BPs on my Killers, each of whom play different, than pour millions into something that is, as far as I'm concerned, a glorified Nea/Quentin cosmetic.

    -

I can only speak for myself, but I can't doubt that other people out there feel this way too.

  • Nervous they'll mess it up, but also excited if it's good.

Wraith I just don't want to see reworked (I like his PS2 era look), Legion and Pig I don't think will really matter if they don't get a maskless skin, and the other Killers I either don't really care about or I think they already look good.

  • Only one of these Killers can 'chase' and down multiple Survivors that are over 20 meters away.

I think that alone makes her the best ranged Killer.

    -

But she has other selling points too.

I concede you might get an as good or better average over many games as Plague or Deathslinger, but Huntress has the greatest potential for success IMO.

I mean, Plague can't down someone across the map, and Deathslinger can't stop three Healthy Survivors from getting an unhook.

Yea, Huntress isn't always going to do those things, but her ability to do them is very real and very dangerous.

And she can do quite a lot of crazy stuff. Sure Plague has her over tall wall Corrupt, and Deathslinger has his tiny hole in shack shot, but Huntress has a ton of clever hits and shots you can make if you can predict the Survivor and know the map.

She also has a really good suite of add-ons; of a calibre to rival Plague's and make Deathslinger and Trickster green with envy.

Iridescent Head is still one of the strongest add-ons in the game, even post nerf.

And to top it off, her 1v1 isn't as oppressive as Deathslinger or Trickster. Huntress allows room for the Survivor she's chasing to play against her if they're paying really close attention.

    -

This is not to say the other Ranged Killers are bad. Just that Huntress is better.

  • IMO his biggest issue is that other Killers are stronger and easier to play.

He has other problems too, but that's the main one. The game has evolved and changed without him.

  • I wouldn't call any of the Survivors hot, but then I'm ace. So that's probably more on me than a mark against BHVR's character design.

I do think that Nea has a pretty face, old Dwight looked cute (new Dwight actually looks like an adult and less like a child pretending to be an adult), pre-2.0.0 Meg looked pretty, Yui looks attractive, and Felix seems very dapper.

But that's more an aesthetic appreciation, and not a sexual interest (like most of this community seems to have).

  • A combination of factors.

    - Those four are some of the oldest playable Survivors. This is meaningful for multiple reasons.

If you started in 2016, you had a 60% chance to have your first Survivor be Meg, Claudette, or Nea. If you start in 2021 you still have around a 42.06~% to pick one of them as your first Survivor, unless you're on console or you buy DLC right off the bat.

Streamers probably play one of these characters too. People are more attracted to characters they recognize. If you've watched someone play Nea a couple times, you're probably going to pick her to play as - assuming you're new to the game.

    - They are all free.

    - They are all female; which is relevant because it gives an advantage.

All Survivors have one of two character models, and the female one is smaller. In a game about evading from an unstoppable Killer, being a tiny bit smaller and shorter can make a big difference.

It also doesn't hurt that being smaller makes it easier to 360 out of the Killer's FOV, crouch under their FOV, or see where you're headed in chase.

There's also the fact that this is a slasher horror game.

Any horror nerd worth their salt can probably name 6 or 7 Final Girls. And even people only tangentially aware of slasher films know the gist of the Final Girl trope.

By contrast, how many of you can name a Final Boy that isn't either Tommy Jarvis or Andy Barclay?

And do you think anyone unaware of Child's Play or not intimately aware of Friday the 13th will know who those two are?

    - They all have perks that are attractive to newer players.

Meg has one of the strongest teachable perk loadouts in the game. Claudette has Self-Care and a perk that tells you when and where your teammates get hurt as well as a perk that speeds up Self-Care and makes healing your teammates easier. Nea has Urban and an Exhaustion perk. And Feng has Alert and an Exhaustion perk.

    - And all of those characters also receive a large amount of cosmetics. IIRC Meg has almost 100 skins, and Nea, Claudette, and Feng all have over 50.

Cosmetic variety is going to attract players and the odds of having a cosmetic someone likes enough to buy goes up the larger your amount of cosmetics.

And because people buy the cosmetics BHVR is going to keep making them.

    ----

TL;DR ::: It's advantageous to play as them and they're popular characters with good base perks and a lot of cosmetics.

It's something of a miracle you ever see anyone else.

  • I wish they completely reworked them. I mean, imagine an add-on that just silences Huntress' Lullaby.

Or an add-on that turns her Hatchets into a Bow and Arrow, so they can travel through even smaller gaps and at greater speed.

Or an add-on that lets her track Survivors footprints - both those left by walking and crouching.

Or an add-on where she can regain Hatchets passively.

Or something else powerful that changes the way you play as her and against her. IDK, I just feel like they gave Iridescent Heads an incredibly boring change.

  • @Harold_Shipman said:

Iri heads should be able to go through objects and insta down after travelling, with no penalty to the number carried, hitting people across the map with bitter murmur after they finish a gen for an insta down would be hilarious

    Calm down there Satan.

  • Scratched Mirror Myers had nothing on Red Paintbrush Freddy.

With M&A and Blue Dress you could generally juggle all 4 Survivors at a time, jumping from jumpscare to jumpscare. And thanks to Freddy's basekit 50% reduced action speed you actually had time to play spooky.

It was easily one of my favorite add-ons, and not just on Freddy. It turned the game into an actual horror game.

  • Twinkle Toes is best boi.

Not only is he cute, he cleans up really well in a suit, has musical talent, has an adorable run animation, and is the least villainous of the male cast.

I mean, he didn't like killing and only willingly killed murderous scumbags who were a danger to himself and others.

Yea, he's still a murderer, but I feel like a good psychologist and a support group could turn him back into a productive and mentally healthy member of society. I don't think anyone else on this list besides Joey could say the same.

Honestly a horror visual novel based on dbd with dating options would be kinda dope.

Like The Letter but then DbD

Oh gosh, I haven't thought about that game in forever.

But yes, I think something along those lines could work for a theoretical DbD dating sim.

Let romance be a big part of the spin-off, but not the only part, and I think it wouldn't be quite as bad or out of tone as some people are making it out to be.

  • Personally, I'd rather we get something else for theoretical spin-off.

I think a puzzle based game where you're in the role of Vigo, or someone like him, would be really interesting.

It'd be cool to explore more of the Entity's Realm and see it from the side of characters who are, at least somewhat, outside the Entity's control.

    -

But if we do end up with a Dating Simulator, I'd hope they play it straight.

No meme-y, alternate reality, cutesy nonsense. Make it about romance between characters who are trapped in an endless hell of life and death that they can never truly escape from.

They could, and should IMO, even feature little trial minigames between dates, where you and the other Survivors can get brutally murdered depending on how well you perform in the minigame.

With the consequence that the dating sequences get harder the more you and your romantic interest get butchered by Huntress, Wraith, or Trapper.

Or easier if your actions during trials are things the character appreciates (maybe one person likes it if you save them from a camping Wraith, maybe another would prefer it if you just did the gens and saved everyone else, maybe one person likes to get chased and appreciates you being fearless too, etc.).

Ideally I'd also rather most of the main cast weren't involved in the story.

Sure, Dwight, Meg, or etc. could, and should, pop up for a cameo or in the trial minigames, but for the actual dating sequences I think it should be mostly all new Survivors specifically for the game.

That way the characters can continue to endure the trials or end up succumbing to despair depending on your choices and minigame performance, to keep some semblance of the survival horror vibe.

And they can also give a variety of LGBTQ+ options without needing to change the main cast's lore.

    2. Quentin/Nea. Quentin/Nea.

    3. Huntress. Huntress/Legion.

  • Sort of. I dreamed about being one of The Legion on Haddonfield once.

Except in my dream it was less of DbD's cat-and-mouse chase/hide and seek gameplay and more me fighting a Yui with an Ultra Greatsword and an Elf Dwight that kept backstab fishing and flashlight clicking, while my Dark Souls 2 character kept rolling into generators to make them start regressing.

  • Twinkle Toes Wraith is easily the cutest Killer.

  • I play without add-ons on most Killers most of the time because of this very fact. I want add-ons to be something I appreciate, not something I rely on or take for granted.

That's just a personal idiosyncrasy tho. IMO you should use All-Seeing Blood or whatever else as much as you want to.

The entire purpose of Add-ons is to help you, after all.

  • Not really, but then I play a lot with meme builds.

Like Trapper with Hoarder and Franklin's, where I spend the whole game trapping items and chests.

Or Starstruck, Agitation, Mad Grit, and Iron Grasp on Huntress to go for backpack murders.

Just goofy stuff to have fun.

Or weird builds to make use out of perks Survivors probably aren't ever going to see anyone else run.

I find it keeps me interested in individual matches and keeps me excited about the outcomes.

And I also play games and do stuff in my free time besides DbD.

I know MCote made it comically overused and meme'd, but if you play DbD a lot, and only DbD, it is going to get unfun eventually.

Taking week long, or longer, breaks has probably done wonders for keeping me interested in DbD.

    -

All this said, the last time a major gameplay update was released was with the End Game Collapse like 2 years ago.

And the last real big meta-change was Hex: Undying about 7 months ago, and that's not exactly an interesting or exciting perk to face as Survivor (cleanse Ruin twice!)

I could totally understand if you were getting irked at the lack of any real innovations to DbD's gameplay.

Yea I guess that's true call me picky tho I don't like event cosmetics I think they're kinda tacky I personally like the normal clothing like t shirts, jeans and hoodies lol oh well I can dream

I disagree on free cosmetics, but wholeheartedly agree that cosmetics in the store are generally too tacky, weird, and different.

Like, maybe I'm in the minority, but I'd prefer Felix just wearing a suit with a matching tie and a vest; maybe a nice overcoat for those chilly German winters. Or Yun-Jin in some simple and comfy casual wear.

As opposed to Felix in bright orange full skiing gear with goggles and a hat or Yun-Jin in her crazy turquoise sequin dress.

Like I don't hate the more interesting outfits (Yun-Jin's crazy dress looks great IMO, and Ace's holiday suit is honestly one of the best things in DbD).

But it'd really nice to see more stuff like lazy hoodie Dwight or jeans and buttoned shirt Kate, rather than having to guess what kind of weird clown suit BHVR are going to stuff Jake or Nea into next.
