  • I have a soft spot for Sebastian Castellanos, Joseph Oda, and Julia Kidman. Sorry Kurt Russel.

Also The Keeper is basically made for this game.

Primary power - sets barbed wire mines to trap Survivors. At last a new Set Up Killer to join Trapper and Hag; who were both added in 2016.

Secondary power - teleports between safe heads around the map by snapping his own neck. Some map mobility to hopefully make him a bit more engaging than the aforementioned Trapper and Hag.

He has a 'The _' name, a Kill that would make a pretty good Mori, and he was even already made playable in first person POV as part of a DLC for the first game.

    -

The only thing hurting the chances of an Evil Within DLC is the fact that like 12 people remember that Evil Within ever existed, and none of those people are the ones that own the license.

  • Maybe it has more to do with WHEN these perks come in handy? As opposed to how often?

Like, Autodidact could be replaced by a Purple Medkit with Gel Dressings, WGLF, Desperate Measures, etc. and you could have nearly as much, or more, value from those as you would Autodidact - and that's without needing to build stacks. And while Autodidact can be helpful, it's probably not going to suddenly change the course of a game.

But with Soul Guard, if you're being picked up while the Killer is slugging and you tank a hit for your rescuer, you can potentially go from losing and all dying to finishing all the gens and getting people out the Gates. Endurance also means you can avoid going down to an instadown, so if the slugging scenario is a Hillbilly, you could still eat the hit for you fully healed rescuer and keep them alive without dying yourself. And, outside of the legendary fully charged MoM, there's nothing else in the game that can do that quite as well.

I don't know what criteria Otz is using for a 4 star rating or what his opinions are on the two perks, but that's something that comes to my mind - that it may be more about the niches the perks fill and how well they fit those niches, as opposed to how often they help.

There’s no more cybil or Quentin. Goblin by daylight is just a memory now :(

    Wait, they fixed Cybil?

  • No Leon or Quentin? What kind of rigged poll is this?

  • Controversially: dying on hook.

Because you get to watch 3 Canadian botanists crouch walk around in the distance while Nemesis uses you to practice his right hook. All as you hang from a meathook and desperately try to keep back the giant spider trying to murderize you.

With EGC you just get suddenly impaled. It's over in seconds.

Dying on hook takes 2 minutes.

  • No, Flashlights are fine.

They're really strong if they work while still leaving counterplay for the opposing player.

Yes; their add-ons suck and need a complete rework, but Flashlights themselves are fine.

  • Nemesis.

I've always wanted a Killer that just punches Survivors. I love running Mad Grit on him; it brings me joy to rapid punch the air.

Edit: Didn't even notice the necromancy. Now I feel like a chump.

  • I liked the idea of a Killer without a power; but each of their add-ons would give them a version of an original Killer's basekit power, as well as a few add-ons with wholly unique abilities.

As Survivor they'd be totally unpredictable even when you see them. Sure maybe they have a chainsaw this game; but what's their other add-on? Bear Traps? Stealth? Blinks?

Ideally it'd sustain that suspense that comes from not seeing the Killer at the beginning of a match for a little longer.

And as Killer it'd let you combine the powers of your favorite Killers. Enjoy Trapper and Legion? Go ahead and combine them! Nurse and Huntress? Why not Blink and throw stuff at Survivors?

I have had a couple other ideas, but that's the one that has entertained me the most.

How many "neon themed" cosmetics does Nea even have now? 3? 4? Come on, Jake and Jeff haven't gotten new skins in forever.

"How many? Not enough! That's how many."

    -BHVR, probably

Be honest though, you know a Neon Nights skin for Jake would be some goofy abomination; the kind they apparently love to give him. I mean, name one other Survivor that can dress up to look like a Space Cowboy, a Hobo, The Pig , and a Coal Miner.

I do wonder what Jeff would get if the cosmetic designers remembered he exists. They are some cool things they could do by combining the neon punk vibe with a heavy metal aesthetic.

been in queue for like 15 mins? #########?

Yea, probably a server issue. Other people are having issues too.

Personally, I just turned DbD off. This game is fun, but I'd rather do something else with my time besides watch Nemesis look at his tentacle for 5+ minutes.

  • Yes; as Killer.

It stuttered a ton, the hooks can be nearly impossible to reach, and the gen spread is just disgusting.

It looked absolutely awesome visually, but I noticed there were some gross window and pallet setups. Also it's possible to deny unhooks in certain hallways by just standing still and bodyblocking the hallway, which is stupid.

I wouldn't hold my breath OP, it's cool to look at but not so great to play in.

I only received the Iri Shards. Gimme 20 minutes and I can show you proof; I took a screenshot of it.

Edit: There ya go. And I'm on PS4, that's why it took a hot minute to upload it.

  • Wait, we got 500k BP for the event?

I logged in and got 1k Iri Shards. Nothing else.

  • I think you're confusing speed with time.

Yes, the setting animation takes 1.5 seconds, but if you increase the speed it will take less time. Not more.

    -

If you aren't and are just questioning why adjusting something that takes just a few seconds by default matters, there are a couple of reasons.

It just makes general setting up a little nicer (saving fractions of a second will add up) and enables you to set up Traps midchase. Obviously setting Traps midchase isn't ideal, but generally a set Trap is better than one in the hand.

These add-ons can also mean that the set Trap mindgame you do at certain pallets loops can actually be fully carried out (as opposed to cancelled halfway through) and still let you catch the Survivor. Kinda like a faster Brutal Strength.

They're not great add-ons but they are useful.

Which is more than I can say for the Spring add-ons.

I don't think the swamps have infinites (yet) but they are definitely up there with corn-pocalypse farm, god pallet plant and HadNoFun field in terms of horrible and unpleasant maps

The Grim Pantry main building can be a semi-infinite against 110% Killers - you can actually break chase while running it.

And against 115% Killers it's still a big time sink if the Survivor is really good.

  • @WexlerWendigo said:

Most of the swamp is a dead zone for survivors.

Depends on the variation you get - there are versions of Grim Pantry where there are no pallet loops in the entirety of the space between the main building, the dock, the shack, and the two story house. It can literally be just a massive dead zone in the center of the map filled with really tall grass.

Other variations can have up to 5 pallet loops in that exact same space though.

    @XLuka8001 said:

Infinite loops, maze like buildings, vaults everywhere, really tall grass, hooks in the ######### corner of the map and I could go on forever. The swamp maps just suck. I don't think a conventional rework would be enough to fix them. They would need a full on redesign, from the ground up because right now they are annoying as survivor and outright unplayable as some killers

    Yes.

    Will that happen? No.

They'll update the visuals, add a few breakable walls (one is 100% going to be blocking the doorway next to the old Grim Pantry God Window), and maybe move a few things around.

Call me pessimistic, but they didn't do anything to fix the major issues with Disturbed Ward, Shelter Woods, Fractured Cowshed, or Rotten Fields - they probably won't be turning over a new leaf with the Swamp maps.

  • I mean Victor is an unnarmed and nude child legally aged young adult that you can murder in-game by punting and Charlotte is an adult with a weapon who you can only flee from and hinder temporarily.

I think even people who disagree would admit it's understandable to find her more scary.

Victor may be the powerhouse of the two gameplay wise as well as a jumping zombie/Entity construct in the lore, but that doesn't make him visually scary.

  • No.

Sympathy, but not respect. She's a teenager who ran away until she nearly froze to death.

She didn't deserve what happened to her, but I don't think she accomplished anything respectable in her short life.

Victor saved her from a cult and she got him killed. Then she became a homicidal vagabond until the Entity kidnapped her.

  • F13 had such a great back-and-forth with chases.

It was nearly always so satisfying and exciting. Well, as long as your ping was good.

What's with this weird trend? I noticed it by blight, twins and nemises. First they get trash talked and then for some reason there S-A tier for everyone because Streamer or Youtuber X said he's good.

The opposite by clown but same scenario. First everyone loved the buff and because again Youtuber or Streamer X said he's still bad and everyone is now seeing it like that.

There are a lot of potential reasons.

    1. Killers aren't stagnant.

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

PTB Spirit had a directional whoosh and a lengthy power cooldown. People called her weak because Survivors could tell exactly where she was while phasing, while she had to guess. Then, whether right or wrong, she'd have to chase as an M1 Killer until her power recharged.

    2. People learn and improve the longer they play.

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

If you try cutting a steak a with a spoon or judge a fish on it's ability to fly above the tree tops, you could be excused for calling them worthless. The true utility/beauty of something is usually not instantly apparent and definitely not immediately obvious to everyone.

Very few people ran Stridor on PTB Spirit. Very few people knew exactly how long her post-phase lunge was. Things changed with time.

    3. The game is not stagnant.

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

When Spirit released Hex: Ruin still caused spooky Red Skillchecks, Decisive was still based on wiggle time, there was no EGC, and Commodious Toolboxes lasted the entire game. The game has changed and so has the way people play it; that in turn changes people's perception of things.

    4. People will parrot the opinions of those who (act like they) have authority on something.

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

As many other comments have pointed out, people will copy the statements of someone they believe. Influencers are called influencers for a reason.

Johnny said Spirit is weak. Everybody loved Johnny when Spirit released.

Jessica says Spirit is strong. People don't love Johnny as much anymore. Everybody loves Jessica now. People stop saying Spirit is weak and start saying she is strong.

    5. Different people say different things.

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

A month ago there may have been 50 people ranting about Spirit being weak. Today those 50 people may be busy doing something else while 50 new people come and complain about her being too strong.

The people who played Spirit on the PTB might have moved on to other games. People who play Spirit today might not have been around to play her on the PTB.

    6. People often use hyperbole to get an emotion across.

    Spoiler Spoiler Warning ▲▼

If you've ever complained you're dying of boredom, or had someone complain it to you, you understand this.

Someone that does terribly as Spirit on her PTB is liable to turn around and say she's garbage because they had a bad time; and they want to express that negative feeling.

    -

I apologize if this comes across as condescending. Rereading it, I could see it might, but I'm just trying to answer your question the best I can and I'm too lazy to retype this all.

You are a smart and beautiful person; have a great day.

  • Regardless of how people feel on whether these perks should counter Stridor or not, I think we can all agree that the perks are NOT functioning as their descriptions state. Sound is still being made while the perk is active.

I'd also like to think we can agree that perk descriptions should generally not lie to the player.

    -

BHVR should do something about this - either buff the perks to match their descriptions or change the text to make it clear that the perks reduce Injured sounds by 100%; not silence them completely.

  • 3% slowdown per token, and that's what the tokens are for.

  • Tinkerer + Ruin on a high mobility Killer

I don't think those perks need to be nerfed personally, but you have to admit they make a 3v1 or 2v1 a drawn out slog for Survivors in the same way that Spine Chill Blendies can for Killers.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

As either Myers or GF Spine Chill literally means they cannot use their power. They can’t NOT look at survivors.

Slippery meat was updated because of how unfairly it singled out countering Trappers traps, and affected no other power in the game. It’s about time Spine Chill was looked at so that there isn’t this massive disparity between killers it doesn’t affect too much, to those it’s far too strong against.

They absolutely can use their powers against Survivors with Spine Chill.

GF can stalk from across the map, Spine Chill does not indicate which direction they're coming/looking from, and you can avoid triggering Spine Chill by angling your camera.

Spine Chill is also useful against Stealth perks and against almost every Killer - not just Michael and GF. It is more useful against them than it is against say, a Bubba, but it has counterplay and it serves more purposes than just to help against Michael and GF.

I personally think Michael shouldn't trigger Spine Chill in Tier 1, but saying he can't use his power against people with the perk isn't accurate at all.

And equating Spine Chill's effects to the effects of old Slippery Meat is just as disingenuous.

  • *cries in loving indoor maps*

Midwich is my favorite map on the game rn; I just love how detailed and ambient it is.

Same goes for Hawkins and Léry's. With their shuddering machinery, scurrying rats, dripping water, unique interactions, and eerie sounds.

They're all so creepy and alive in a way that most outdoor maps just aren't and I love them for it.

I haven't gotten to play in the RPD personally (not in DbD anyway), but judging by the fact that the Save Room apparently has it's own music I'm hoping it'll feel similarly.

Assuming the devs manage to fix it, that is.

  • @Karao_Ke said:

Probably would find some 'Killer repellent' on a Blendette.

But how would you ever find the body?

  • Are there no dead female Survivors? /s

I'd liberate a box of garlic bread sticks from Pizza Dwight's backpack.

  • I don't think comparing him to other Killers is the right way to go about this.

Blight is worse than Spirit, but that doesn't him bad.

Trapper being one of the weakest Killers doesn't make him bad either.

And, IMO, Nemesis is a decent Killer.

Tier 2 infection is where he really shines; Survivors that pre-drop pallets let you break them quickly, Survivors that camp pallets get Injured as long as you aim correctly, and Survivors that pay attention to the tentacle animation can be mindgamed and M1'd or Tentacled.

He does have counterplay if the Survivors are attentive and competent, but a lot of people just aren't yet. He only came out to live servers two days ago.

And even if they are, it's a pretty even thing for him or them to win a chase on most tiles.

His Zombies are RNG, but they will generally help out during a match.

Even if they never catch a Survivor they'll often deny loops or pathways to Survivors. It's a rare match where they'll completely useless - and there are about as many matches where they carry you (I had a game where a Zombie camped a central room; prevented a gen there from being fixed until I could arrive, ended a chase twice, and granted a free infection once - just as a had a game where a Zombie wandered aimlessly around am empty corner of the map while the other did nothing but get blinded repeatedly).

The vaccines also provide a not insignificant slowdown. Survivors unlocking chests and running to unlock chests are Survivors not on generators. 8 to 12 seconds of a Survivor not repairing can make a huge difference.

Nemesis is not going to be the next Spirit or the next Huntress, but he's absolutely a decent addition to the roster. He has AI companions and the vaccines - which is enough to distinguish him from Demo and PH IMO - and has a chase power that is strong enough to be worthwhile to learn.

Once you get a good feel for the tentacle, and throw on 2 gen regression perks of your choice, you'll be 3-4k'ing 60% of your games.

You will not be crushing Sweaty SWF Squads, but unless you were playing Nurse flawlessly, running Spirit or Blight with strong regression perks, or getting a lucky early down with a Killer that can camp very efficiently that was never going to be the case anyway.

Nemesis is a perfectly average Killer with a quirky and gimmicky mechanic to make him stand out.

Which is something I'm personally very happy for after the design nightmares that are The Twins and The Trickster.

  • No care, no care in the world

Really though I don't really care one way or the other about Bubba.

He's okay as IMO; not too strong.

That said, I honestly wouldn't care if they nerfed him either - given how easy he is to play - as long as he still felt like Bubba afterwards.

Watching videos back then apparently this chapter was going to kill the game?

As someone who played through that time, it genuinely felt like it.

DCs were everywhere; at first it was just against Legion or Spirit (old Prayer Beads was a very popular add-on and she had collision while phasing; making her even easier than Stridor Spirit is now), but then people realized you could DC against any Killer for any reason if you weren't having fun.

I can't testify for Survivor (though I can't imagine it was fun facing a Killer with multiple exploits that would let them win chases - and because Legion was new, everyone was playing them), but the Killer experience was absolutely miserable for quite a while because of that.

Queue times were also excrutiating at the time, which of course made the DC epidemic even more of an issue.

Have a icky game where half the players leave? Wait half an hour to play another game just like that.

And to top off the problem the devs initial action during the midchapter PTB was to buff the lethality of Legion's Feral Frenzy because they weren't fun to play as.

The devs didn't let the buffs go live and they quickly 180'd their stance on Legion later by nerfing their power into the ground, but at the time it felt like they either had no clue or didn't care about what was happening.

It was a really bad time for DbD.

  • That could be legitimately nasty.

Ace In The Hole + Pharmacy and Survivors could get, and potentially keep, some pretty nutty Medkits every game.

It's a good idea, if anything it's possibly too strong.

    -

The sad thing is though, I don't think that buff would change anything.

Still nobody besides insane Quentin Mains, like myself, and maybe the occasional loot focused Survivor would ever run it.

  • @glitchboi said:

Who even thought of giving Tricky a lullaby but not Slinger

TBF, Deathslinger cannot land a shot on anyone that's more than 20 meters away, while Kpop Dude can (theoretically) hit and damage people from across the map.

Obviously the reality of those Killers (Deathslinger's super quiet TR + M&A and the fact that Trickster needs to hit 8 knives to do damage) doesn't match that, but on paper it makes a certain kind of sense.

  • It could work if they tried, but I don't see a reason for BHVR to acquire the license.

I've only played a bit of the first game, so maybe this isn't true for every title in the series, but to me it seemed like it was very much an action adventure game; albeit one with an odd focus about the extremes of capitalism.

There was never an enemy I felt actually threatened by in my limited time playing - even the memorable diving suit looking NPCs were just tanky rather than ominous or frightening.

But then that's probably because the protagonist could shoot bolts of lightning from his hands and had a machine gun.

I'm sure in the right setting and with the right presentation, an enemy from that game could make a compelling and creepy Killer (the occult looking teleporting enemies from the garden section come to mind) but like, why bother?

No offense to any fans of Bioshock, but I just don't think it's something DbD really needs.

I think there are bigger horror, and horror-adjacent, licenses DbD could get instead.

To say nothing of BHVR's ability to create their own interesting and memorable original characters.

  • She's got a black leather jacket.

Flowerhead may have cool chase music, but you just can't beat leather jackets for coolness.

  • I liked the first two Alien films, but I'm not really big on either of them. They were just okay as far as I'm concerned.

I did play, and absolutely loved, Alien: Isolation. But Alien as a franchise doesn't really appeal to me.

I wouldn't hate to see an Alien chapter in DbD, but I don't think I'd buy it either.

Well, not unless it comes with some drastically meta-changing perks or a really fun Killer power.

By saying that you show me that you don't play against people with a minimum level.

If you can hit two people with Plague Corruption at once twice in the game without camping or farming, send me a video because you are probably the best Plague player out there.

I did it by bringing a Blessed Apple, Discordance, and Tinkerer.

I don't have any footage, but it wasn't that hard honestly.

Just drink Corrupt when Discordance goes off and then approach the gen as Tinkerer activates.

That's not to say you'll get it first try with that strategy or that it's always going to work.

Just that you don't need to be a super skilled Plague, farm for the challenge, or get incredibly lucky to hit two Survivors twice with Corrupt Purge.

Survivors often co-op on gens, and at Red Ranks people aren't liable to just run and hide simply because you got your Corrupt.

  • Jill would probably be the best Killer, and Nemesis would probably be the best Survivor.

Especially considering Nemesis is the REmake 3 Nemesis; who, despite being unable to swim, survives being submerged in acid among a bunch of other rather insane feats.

I'm honestly not quite sure how most of the new Killer cast would really manage to kill him. Even Jill struggles to, and that was by using an experimental super weapon.

As for Jill, she's killed a LOT of ridiculous stuff aside from the aforementioned Nemesis.

I think the fact that an undead great white shark and a genetically modified superhuman tyrant are some of the easiest things she's killed really kinda speaks for itself.

    -

If we're talking only original characters, Huntress would probably be the best Survivor and David would probably be the best Killer.

Huntress not only survives, but thrives in a nearly inhospitable wasteland by herself as a child.

She's not going to be as great as she could be without the ability to fight back directly, but she's going to be far from a pushover. She'd probably have perks like Leon or Jill's that allow for indirect ways to slow down amd combat the Killer.

David for his part is really good fighter. He's not superhuman incredible in the way that nearly everyone else I've mentioned here is, but he'd the best out of the non-licensed characters.

  • Depends on the skin.

In general I think the pricing on skins is okay. Especially considering that no few of them can be acquired for free if you grind enough.

Legendaries are a bit nutty. They cost more but are basically just a way to buy a linked set and pretend you're playing a new character. (TBF that looks like it might be changing though.)

And some other skins are just dumb.

Ghostface's slightly cleaner mask, Adam's one inch longer hair, and Jane's heads with different colored makeup come to mind.

Charging 400 cells for pants that are a bit more muddy, or jeans that have slightly more scuffed knees also doesn't seem quite right to me.

But those things tend to be exceptions, not the rule.

They could very easily just take his dialog from the game itself and use that, or they could get the actor who plays Heisenberg to record a few new lines.

Knowing Behavior though, they'd probably be too lazy to do either of these; seeing as how Look-See laugh's like Doctor.

Yea; all they really need are grunts and stun sounds - I'm sure they could get more than enough of that from the lines used in RE8. It might not be easy, but I wouldn't think it'd be too hard.

And while past Killer Legendaries have been really lack lustre in selling the whole "you're playing as an entirely new character" thing; apparently the Survivor Legendaries are going to get some more love (besides the updates to add unique character icons, I've heard rumors that Legendaries for Jill and Leon will actually have their own voices).

So maybe something like a Killer Legendary outfit with it's own voice acting isn't entirely a pipe dream.

  • @QwQw said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2231779#Comment_2231779

I can see that working, but they'd definitely need to change the voice. Having Heisenberg randomly speaking Korean and laughing like Trickster would be just so goddamn weird.

Yea, as funny as hearing Hesienberg swear in Korean and quietly say "ouch" when he gets stunned would be, he would probably need a new set of vocal sounds.

  • Maybe I'm a lunatic; but I think he'd work best as a Legendary for Trickster.

Reskin the knives to be bits of shrapnel or combat knives, and have him levitate them and launch them, instead of physically throwing them.

The weird bat turning into Hesienberg's hammer also fits a lot better than the gun becoming a hammer IMO.

  • Fung is the correct way to pronounce the name, but both me and my friend call her Fang for fun.

  • He seems pretty weak, but IDK how much of that is people being not used to him and how much of that is him actually being weak.

He seems to depend a LOT on landing his ranged attack before he can achieve much with his Zombies or his Power, and from what I've seen it's a bit unclear where the Tentacle can hit and where it can't.

And, as is, his Zombies will be really hit or miss. Either the Zombie will be blocking a loop, door, hallway, unhook, or generator and be nearly unstoppable, or you'll be able to just run around it and it'll only be good for tracking.

Regardless he looks really fun and cool to play as and face; which is my main takeaway.

This is the first chapter since Silent Hill I've still been excited for AFTER the reveal.

  • I like the movies, but I don't think the Predator would work so great in DbD.

It's not like the devs are gonna make a Stealth Killer that can spontaneously switch between shurikens, bows, spears, laser guns, and/or explosives at a moment's notice. It's not the dev's fault either; it just wouldn't work in a game where chases are based around pallets and windows.

There's also no real way to incorporate the iconic voice mimicry, eventual demasking, or nuclear explosive.

If they did add a Predator it'd end up being either a better or worse Wraith (if they include invisibility) or Huntress (if they don't include the iconic invisibility for some reason).

    -

All this said, it'd make me really happy to face a Predator while playing Detective Tapp. And a map set in a South American jungle could be pretty fun.
