  • I had this issue all the time on PS4 and at least in my case, I can't speak for anyone else, the issue was definitely not analogue stick drift.

I was able to play TLOU2, RDR2, DOOM, GTA V, etc. on the same controller around the same time frame without any issues or any noticeable weirdness at all.

The issue was also noticeable distinct from analogue stick drift: it was not getting pulled to a specific direction, or failing to register in a specific dead zone of the stick's direction; DbD's in-game character movement was just drastically slowed.

    Additionally, the issue wasn't consistent.

One day I might be moving so slowly as Killer that I could not catch up to a Survivor running in a straight line (this isn't hyperbole, I genuinely had multiple games on indoor maps where my character just could not move as fast as they should and would lose distance chasing down hallways).

But another day it could be totally fine, and served to heighten the contrast on the days it was a problem. This decreased speed could happen as Survivor or Killer, but since I'm a Killer Main it happened more for Killer.

I never did figure out a solution, OP, sorry to say. Hopefully you can figure out something.

  • I was looking for this post! I knew about the update, but I wasn't expecting such a big change with the visuals. It's cool though.

It's not. It's the same size as Ormond, which iirc is about the average/medium size for a map.

The issue with Eyrie isn't one of size, but content.

Most traditional maps have a pretty sizable 'deadzone' area around the edges where there are no gens, no hooks, and no pallets.

Both Ormond and Eyrie can and will spawn generators, pallets, jungle gyms, and hooks very close to the edge of the map.

This means that a good gen patrol is pretty difficult, if not impossible, for most non-mobility Killers at the start of the match.

This makes people *feel* like the map is too big, even though it's the same size as other, less problematic maps.

It also can lead to Killer sided issues with pallet depletion and camping/tunnelling, but that depends on specific map RNG.

  • Based on the description of Auric Cells and some of the Observer's lore, the Entity's Realm isn't a physical place per se but a place of pure consciousness.

Think of like a lucid dream, but the Entity is the lucid dreamer and everyone is else is trapped there, beholden to the Entity's rules.

Bill's body isn't his real body, but a body based off his and recreated by the Entity so that his consciousness can feel suffering, hope, and despair.

Whether this body is infected with the Green Flu or not is irrelevant because the Entity has near absolute control. It's how Survivors die and return after trials, why they turn into a smoky mist shape after being sacrificed, and how people who physically died can still be present in the Entity's Realm.

Nobody else will be infected if the Entity doesn't want them infected.

  • @Pulsar said:

    It's disabled on PS4 and PS5.

    Nowhere else though.

Is that because of the glitch on PS5 where using any part of the Rift/Archives can lock your character in place in game until you restart the game?

  • In the Entity's Realm time isn't really measurable the way it is outside of it.

You have to remember that it exists outside of physical reality. The realm is composed of abstract thought and consciousness, manifested visually as a sort of physicality by the Entity for the purpose of keeping the Survivors scared and the Killers killing.

In essence it's a shared nightmare/dream that the Entity controls.

Because this is takes place outside of any other universe, it's not possible to assign a year date for events in the Entity's Realm.

For example, The Entity took Michael Myers and Laurie from their universe in 1979, but that doesn't necessarily mean they've been in the Realm longer than Legion or Dwight, or that they've necessarily been there for a shorter amount of time than The Plague has.

It's fully possible that Legion and Dwight have been in the Realm for centuries while Michael has only been there for six years; because the time they're taken from doesn't have to correspond to time that's passed in the Entity's Realm.

That doesn't mean that Legion can't have been in the realm for 26 years (2022 -1996), just that if they have it's not because it's 2022 in the Realm: but because, for the Legion, 26 years had passed since they were taken to the realm from their universe.

But there's nothing stopping the Entity from suddenly taking one of the Legion's classmates from 1996, even though 26 years passed for the Legion. And that new person in the Realm would have been in their universe's 1996 just hours ago.

Vittorio's officially stated to have been in the realm for 'centuries'. We can assume this is true because it's been said directly by the developers. But we can't know if that's two centuries, three centuries, four centuries, etc.

In short, it's impossible to know exactly how long outside of a dev statement. And because the Realm is less an physical location and more a shared idea/dream, it doesn't really matter.

The only really important thing to note is that Vittorio has endured centuries of Entity torture and is still going.

As for Vittorio's age when he was taken, it's also impossible to know.

Birthdates weren't really kept track of; instead the date someone was christened was recorded. It might be close to the birthdate, especially if the infant was sickly or the birth problematic in some fashion, but it might also not be close at all, as to allow the mother and infant time to build up strength.

We can guesstimate that his white hair puts him somewhere over 40, but that's assuming it's that color naturally.

There's really no way to know for sure.

    She's ugly, simple as that

Instead of crying for more cosmetics, ask for a model rework like Quentin. Maybe once she's actually good looking people will play her more (and buy cosmetics)

A lot of people also say Nea is ugly and she's one of the most popular characters in the game (and had been for a long while before the visual update to all characters).

Ugliness isn't an objective trait. Some people may think Haddie is ugly, but other people will disagree.

And as Nea proves, you don't need to be considered attractive by the majority of the community to be a popular character.

I think the problem is more that there are too many Survivors and not enough reason to play them.

At the end of the day, Survivors are just a skin with lore. You never have a reason to play them outside of random dailies or archive challenges IF you already own them for their perks.

And with 27 (25 on console) Survivors you have to purchase, as well as most Survivors having really weird or lame perks, people ARE going to skip buying certain Survivors.

Haddie isn't played because she's the 31st character added to the game, and was nearly immediately overshadowed by Ada and Rebecca, who are characters from a very popular pre-existing franchise and already have an existing fanbase.

Vittorio just came out and he seems poised to succeed by virtue of having a very striking visual design (his crazy outfit and magic tattoos) as well as being a conventionally attractive character with a shirtless skin.

But give it 2 months, and let's see how he compares to Haddie. No matter how many skins he gets, I personally doubt he's gonna be seen more often than Mikaela or Dwight, let alone established favourites like Feng, Meg, Claudette, or Nea.

Not because he's ugly or badly designed: but because he's the 34th Survivor on the roster, and so has to compete with all 33 Survivors before him.

  • I'd rather they revert Killer attack recovery speed back to pre-6.1.0 instead of nerfing Stabiffel.

Most M1 dudes aren't getting a ton of value from the slightly faster basekit M1s, but it does make a big difference for the S and A tier Killers like Blight, Nurse, and Spirit, who can use their ability to catch up after an M1.

That said, they could also just leave attack recovery untouched. Personally I don't think Stabiffel or basekit attack recovery are a big issue.

I think a more pressing problem is the divide between soloQ and SWF as well as the insane add-on disparity between certain Killers (I do not understand how Twin's "Stale Biscuit" and Nemesis' "Marvin's Blood" get nerfed in a game where Spirit's "Yakuyoke Amulet" and Blight's "Alchemist Ring" exist).

I better question for me is "Are you glad you got the medieval chapter you did?" because the answer there is a hearty no. I've wanted a knight killer forever, but the one we got has a power that, as a concept, I am entirely opposed to even so much existing in the game, let alone playing it consistently. So the knight I've wanted forever ended up being a killer whose fundamental design I hate, meaning the chances of getting a knight with a well-made power now are slim to none.

I feel pretty similarly. This isn't what I was wanting.

I've always wanted a chapter based on characters from before the Modern Era. It's why I really like Plague and why I was so excited for The Knight and Vittorio.

But the Knight just feels poorly thought out. Like an attempt to overcome the limitations they encountered with the AI of Nemesis' Zombies, but so altered to the point that he's basically Artist 2.0. Functionally he's best played by pressing M2, the Survivor must then either W away from loop or get hit.

Conceptually a Killer that has minions sounds awesome. But this incarnation of it just ain't it.

Nobody loves the W meta. Stop trying to make the W meta mandatory BHVR.

    Please.

As for Vittorio, I'm incredibly disappointed they gave him a modern design for his default outfit. Looks and lore are all that a Survivor really is, so I'm sad our very first historic Survivor didn't get period dress.

Speaking of lore, I'm also disappointed in the lore for both Vittorio and Tarhos, but I understand that's a far more subjective thing. Others may love it, and I don't begrudge them that.

I'll probably get The Knight with Shards for his perks, but for Vittorio I'd rather wait until they eventually appear in the Shrine.

  • @Phantom_ said:

They also have Hunk for Legion and Nemi. I'd love for them to add even more lol, like Ethan, or imagine having Lady Dimitrescu! Bela, Cassandra and Daniela could be her AI helpers or something

If BHVR were actually willing to reskin Killer powers you could have every villain from RE8.

Dimitrescu could be a skin for The Knight with her daughters replacing the soldiers.

Heisenberg could be a Trickster reskin and telekinetically throw metal shards instead of knives.

Donna and Angie could be a skin for the Twins with Angie replacing Victor.

Moreau could be a Plague skin, spewing his acid and pus instead of her vomit.

And Miranda could be a skin for the Artist, just with the crows less inky and more real looking.

Aside from Walter? They could go with the incubus from 1 or the maybe Leonard Wolf from 3. If they wanted to get really creative they could try and make Alessa a manipulated killer. With SH2 being remade we could see a certain character that I will not name for spoiler reasons.

Don't forget Claudia Wolf or The Missionary, they both attack people with melee weapons and Claudia has vague supernatural powers akin to Alessa's. Claudia was also referenced as maybe being alive in Heather's DbD lore, so they've done the groundwork there already.

Personally I'd love for a 2nd Killer to be Floatstinger or Incubus; just to confuse and mess with people who've never played the games. I have no idea how either would work, but the community chaos and memes on their reveal would be hilarious.

Walter, your SH2 person who is a spoiler, or Claudia would all be the most likely though, in my mind. They're all human(ish) and have vague supernatural abilities that BHVR could mess around with to create a fun power.

in all fairness the mall in silent hill 3 would basically be rpd 2 in terms of layout

lakeside amusement park or the streets of old silent hill would be my pick personally

Yea, the gameplay would depend on how faithful they would be to the original design and whether they'd use the Otherworld or 'normal' version. All those tight hallways and rooms could easily create a 2nd RPD.

But IMO it'd be worth it for having one of the more unique levels in the Silent Hill franchise. Also we could have Happy Burger or the Bakery.

Old Silent Hill would be tough to pull off because how large it is. They'd have to have either multiple maps to include the various iconic areas or they'd have to shrink it waaaay down. It'd also run the risk of having the Haddonfield problem of being way too empty and open on the street.

But if they did it well, it'd be very interesting to see and definitely more representative of Silent Hill.

  • Sometimes the animations bug out like this; it generally seems to happen if the ping between Wesker and the Survivor is bad, or if the geometry you're getting thrown into/smashed against is a bit awkward.

Vaulting a window, or a pallet will fix it, as will being downed.

Wesker definitely has a lot of bugs with his power still. It's probably to be expected given his power and the inconsistent way BHVR makes maps, but it'a still a bit disappointing given how buggy the first RE chapter was.

  • I just hope we get more maps for the Silent Hill Realm. We need more maps in general IMO, and Silent Hill has so much more to offer than just the Elementary School.

Don't get me wrong, Midwich is a decently iconic area from Silent Hill 1 and memorable for being the first place in the franchise where we see the Otherworld really manifest, but it does feel a bit like we got robbed from having a map of Alchemilla Hospital, Lakeside Amusement Park, Toluca Prison, The Labyrinth, or SH3's Mall.

Still, it was honestly a huge shock to see Silent Hill at all. It feels a bit bad to complain it wasn't perfect when Silent Hill had been more or less assumed dead at the time.

  • It depends on how we're defining 'balanced'.

If we're talking about skill expression for both sides and we're excluding crazy add-ons and stupid maps, I'd say Blight, Huntress, and Hillbilly are the most balanced.

They all have a lot of insane tricks that they can use if they understand their power well, just as Survivors can outplay them if they understand and anticipate the Killer.

There's not much more to say: they all allow for both players involved in the chase to express skill.

If we're talking about killrates though, then the most balanced Killer is a (assuming they're not using Insidious or Deadlock) facecamping Bubba.

I'm serious; just hear me out.

If the Bubba sucks or the Survivors are insane you can get a 3 or even a 4 man out. If the Bubba doesn't suck and the Survivors don't suck then it's a 2k. If the Survivors suck or the Bubba is insane, it's a 3k or 4k.

Facecamping Bubba also brings both SWF and Solo a lot closer together.

SWF can't bodyblock or coordinate an unhook against Bubba's instadown like they could against almost every other Killer, and their only real benefit of using comms is knowing that he's camping immediately and where pallets have been used.

Obviously bad players will be bad, and since you choose to SWF you're more likely to pick good teammates, but if we assume Survivor skill here is equal across Solo and SWF and that we're only really worried about SWF's boost to coordination and communication, I think we can agree facecamping Bubba really levels the playing field in a way no other Killer can.

Assuming no add-ons or insane Map layouts Bubba's power also reduces the chases to a simple binary of getting caught or getting away; with both sides having input on the outcome. It's not exactly skillful per se, but it is determinant based on the players involved.

No other Killer can guarantee Kills the way facecamping Bubba can while still not being crazily unfair in a chase or guaranteeing a 4k.

    Is it fun? Heck no.

Is it balanced? If we look primarily at killrates and are aiming for 60%, then I'd say yes.

  • It's another perk like For The People or Blood Pact, weak to the point of being completely forgettable in the hands of solo queue (what good does knowing the Killer is on the other side of the map do you?) but pretty dangerous in the hands of a SWF.

Combining this perk with comms, Hyperfocus, and a Toolbox to increase skillcheck chances and you can basically tell the entire team a Trapper's home address and bank account info at the start of the match while actively helping slam a gen.

Unless the Trapper has Fearmonger, in which case you're just out a perk slot.

You could theoretically nerf it for our setup Killers by letting the Killer know they're being observed via the HUD so they can know not to place Traps...

...but then Onryo, Spirit, and Wraith can counter it by cloaking/phasing whenever they see the icon.

Maybe that'd be fine, but IDK.

All-in-all, I personally think the perk would be better off being reworked into something solo players can actually make use of too.

As is this perk will just sit in the dumpster with so many other Survivor perks most of the time.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

There's a time and place for it. Kind of a niche scenario, but sometimes you need to immediately contest the hook to keep the killer away from a gen that needs to get done to break a gen cluster. Forces the killer to give up the gen or give up the save for free. And obviously don't do it if the rescuer/hooked player are death hook. But most survivors aren't really thinking about the game like that and it's a straight up farm.

Also if the hooked person is about to hit 2nd stage or die.

Even if it ends up being a farm, it's *usually* better to force the Killer to have to waste time downing them than it is to just let the person advance hook stages.

Plus there's always a chance the person actually manages to actually get a decent chase as a result, which is way better than the free hook progress.

But you're right, most of the time people are probably just thinking "Hey, 1k Altruism Points!"

Cannot believe iri head hasn't been nerfed yet. The infantry belt fix did nothing, it's still completely busted to fight

I mean, it's still a nerf, 1 Instadown Hatchet is a less insane than 3.

Also it went SO long until even that nerf came that I really wouldn't hold my breath.

Same thing for the Tombstones. It's been over 6 years since Myers came out and those add-ons still exist.

As the Killer roster gets bigger and bigger I think the problems with individual Killers become less and less of an issue to BHVR.

  • I wouldn't see any obvious issue with giving every Survivor icon a smaller version of the Obsession spider legs that wiggle when in chase. And I can't think it'd be too crazy difficult to implement [insert joke about it breaking Pig's Ambush Dash somehow].

It'd also be a nice change for solo queue too, which is something we could definitely use more of.

Well, penti is such a potent hex with its bonuses because you generally have to lose a hex to gain it (or have a survivor in your game with inner healing or a totem challenge). Most survivors have the knowledge to cleanse it again because they monitor where the hex got cleansed earlier. This is the risk and reward with pentimento and why it has such punishing penalties like 40% gen slowdown.

If shattered hope became basekit, pentimento builds would be THE meta and no one would want to run boons anymore (especially since you can't boon a pentimento hex).

I can't help but feel that if they made shattered basekit, they would have to nerf pentimento and I would rather they didn't.

I've always been a fan of the diminishing returns idea. The more times you place a boon, the longer it takes to complete the action so the killer actually gets something out of snuffing them.

If shattered hope became basekit, pentimento builds would be THE meta and no one would want to run boons anymore

I feel like these are mutually exclusive outcomes of a theoretical basekit Shattered Hope though. If Pentimento was used by everyone, you're right, people would just not use Boons.

But if people aren't using Boons very often Pentimento loses a lot of it's meta appeal, because you wouldn't get value reliably. So people wouldn't throw Pentimento on every build. Which would mean people would bring Boons and etc.

You'd essentially be at an even playing field where both sides *might* use this thing, or they might not.

I'd like to clarify here, that I'm not personally in favour of Shattered Hope being basekit. It'd just be a band-aid that doesn't fix the actual problem (because, if we're honest, when people say "Boons are annoying" they aren't complaining about Boon: Dark Theory, they're complaining about Boon: Circle of Healing). I just don't think it'd be a very problematic change either.

Personally I think BHVR just needs to totally rework Circle of Healing and take another look at how Boons interact with multilevel maps like RPD or Midwich. Then they'd be okay.

That said, your idea of decreasing the Blessing speed after every Boon use isn't something I'm opposed to either. I just think that Boon: Circle of Healing specifically is the issue, not necessarily Boons in and of themselves.

(especially since you can't boon a pentimento hex).

I wasn't aware of this interaction between Boons and Rekindled Totems, that's interesting to know.

  • @sonnynerd said:

circle of healing is broken in my opinion should re decused to 35% same as self care

It doesn't really need such a punitive nerf. Circle of Healing in a vacuum is mostly fine.

But it gets problematic when you start adding in Medkits, co-op healing speeds, and the fact that Boons can be reused constantly. And just reducing the speed isn't gonna fix those problems, but it will make the perk nearly worthless on it's own.

Honestly they need to just rework it completely and give it an entirely new effect. The idea is fine conceptually but it does NOT play nice with DbD's other means of Healing and it's baffling to me that they'd rather nerf Self-Care and 'rework' Botany Knowledge instead of just changing the actual problem perk.

    @LazyClown said:

Sad to say this, but with pentimento in the game they cannot make this basekit.

    Why not?

Maybe this my Killer Main bias showing, or just me being an idiot, but I feel like it'd only be a problem if the Survivors lit 5 boons and the Killer gets instant 5 stack Pentimento or if the Survivors keep lighting boons after finding out the Killer has Pentimento, and both of those edge cases are kind of on the Survivors for not being more careful with their Boon usage IMO.

Furthermore, the Survivors will always know where the Penti totem is if the Killer lights it immediately after stomping, AND it lets the Survivors potentially get an extra use from their Boon.

How would basekit Shattered Hope + Pentimento be an issue?

  • - As Killer, Huntress.

Originally I mained Wraith, because he looks cool. But I switched to Huntress because I thought her lore was cool, and I still play her 4 years later because her power is cool. Pretty cool, eh?

    - As Survivor, Nea/Quentin.

Quentin was the first Survivor I mained because I have insomnia and because he was the best part of the NOES reboot. Also Wake Up! is my guilty pleasure.

Nea I mained after my first game as Huntress went really poorly - I was Rank 17 and got matched with Red Ranks due to a matchmaking bug at the time.

Most of the Survivors tbagged and clicked and pointed and spammed vaults and had a great old time bullying the baby Killer. But one of them, a P3 Nea, was nice and even messaged me afterwards (PSN, so no endgame chat, just DMs) telling me to ignore the Survivors being jerks and gave me a few tips for Killer.

When I got more into the community I found it ironic Nea was the poster child of toxicity, but it just made me more thankful for that one player and more determined to be a Nea that didn't conform to the community's expectations.

  • I dressed up as Michael Myers this year (I wanted to do Sadako, but my hair is just a lil' too short rn to really sell it).

Yeah but makes MUCH more loops available to play if you know how to curve. If someones not pre dropping every pallet and actually tries to loop it will catch them.

It USED to make a ton more loops playable using curving. These days a lot of newer maps and tiles have just the most bizarre geometry and tend to catch the saw with their forcefields.

Have you watched a Hillbilly try to play Hillbilly (as opposed to M1lly) on Eyrie of Crows?

    Saddest thing I've ever seen.

  • I'm getting some Friday the 13th: The Game flashbacks. Especially with the whole combat stance.

I'm not saying change the RNG. I love that they made her traps more consistant and guaranteed solid slowdown, it's great, it's a good change. My issue is the combo of Tampered Timer and Crate of Gears can make it so even if a survivor plays absolutely flawlessly, they can still die, and there's nothing they could have done to survive.

They should just make it so using one of those add-ons prevents you from using the other. Either like a Killswitch effect or just that only one will work - they used to make certain add-ons not stack in the past and Iri Head + Infantry Belt currently works in a similar manner.

Tampered Timer and Crate of Gears are both fine add-ons, they're only problematic when combined.

  • A screenshot without any real context for the game itself doesn't really indicate he's strong or weak.

Like, the Yui with 3k points. She clearly scored really low compared to everyone else, but there's no context as to *why*

Did she kill herself on hook? Did she get tunnelled to death? Was she left on hook by her teammates? Did she crouch in a corner the whole game? Were you so insane at Blight the she just couldn't do anything? Was she always chased in a deadzone?

From that screenshot alone, there's no way for us to tell.

Same thing for the 4k. We can see Blight 4k'ed, but the screenshot can't show us *why*.

I'm not saying you're right or wrong about Blight, just that a screenshot of a 4k doesn't prove much by itself.

I agree, but then again it is just myers depending on who he got his stalk on he might be screwed also on more open maps with not that much line up sight blockers Autohaven Maps primarily you can see him coming and act accordingly, the other addons don't have that sort of map dependance on them... Yes I've seen Scotts video, but i was not really that sure about tombstone... The addon is completely broken and needs to be reworked but even with it you will still loose the game against really good survivors but even comp players will struggle against MDR (when we look at the video Hens made..) or Compound 33... So I think it is not that clear

Myers loses because he's Myers - a Killer whose design hasn't changed much since 2017.

He starts off the match barely faster than Survivors and needs to stare at them in order to become an M1 Killer.

Comparing Myers with Tombstone Piece and Blight with Alchemist Ring is more of a comparison between the Killers than the add-ons. Obviously Blight is better than Myers.

A good comparison of the add-ons would be imagining if Myers had add-on where hitting someone in Tier 3 meant he kept his Stalk bar 99%'d after that Tier 3 ends and comparing that to Tombstone Piece, or imagining if Blight had an add-on where if he performs 30 Rush actions in a chase without hitting a Survivor the next Survivor he finds outside of a locker he can just instantly Kill and then comparing that to Alchemist Ring.

  • Tombstone Piece.

It allows you to delete a player from the game. No other add-on for Survivor or Killer comes close.

Imagine if Blight could suddenly Mori someone while Healthy, or if a Survivor who blinded the Killer enough could just remove the Killer from the game.

Nothing has that equivalency (beyond Judith's Tombstone, but that has far stricter downsides).

I thought they saw like a small amount of illusion docs at tier 1 though

I don't believe so; I even faced a Doctor just recently and never encountered any Tier 1 illusions.

    But I could be wrong.

It wouldn't happen but I would kill for Violet from part V to be a survivor, I need more survivors that are explicitly from alternative subcultures, think all we have at the minute is Nea who is pretty explicitly suggested to be a punk.

Theeeeeeere's a man with no life in his eyes!

I will also throw in my support for Violet as a Survivor, despite it being impossible.

Could it possibly work the same as faking controlling victor as the twins?

It's definitely possible, but a bit harder.

Charlotte has a unique 'sleeping' animation when you control Victor that is different from her idle just standing around animation, but Twins are so rare you could probably trick people who don't know about that.

  • It'd depend on the licensors, but I'd imagine it'd be Jason Voorhees and Tommy Jarvis.

Pamela would be fun IMO, but she's only in one film and currently isn't the same intellectual property as adult serial killer Jason. Roy is out of the running by virtue of nobody outside of hardcore fans really knowing about him. Also (as much as I personally like certain parts of it) Part V was probably the second worst film in the entirety of the franchise: which is quite an accomplishment honestly.

There are also plenty of iconic and interesting Final Girls in the franchise; Alice, Tina, and Chris stand out in particular to me, but Tommy has a personal and mutual enmity with Jason, is in 3 separate films (more than any other character in the franchise besides Jason), and stands out by virtue of being a rare Final Boy. If they pick any one character from the series to be a Survivor they'll almost certainly pick Tommy.

Heck if I know what power they'd give Jason though. He's a Myers-esque stealth Killer in most of the films, but turns into an undead Terminator in the later ones. And his most iconic feature is the variety of ways he kills people - something I don't think could translate well to DbD.

Honestly, he's a bit like Freddy in that I don't think DbD's gameplay format can really do him justice. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

    Trolling Cannibals like me.

You chase. You hook them in the basement. You flicker Insidious to their face and then leave to let your Monsterous Shrine do the work while having fun with another player. It is really funny.

Also during a chase as Cannibal it is quit interesting. People panic quit a lot and you can use your Insidious to wait around the corner, they run into you, you chainsaw them and scare the living ######### out of a survivor.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3237284#Comment_3237284

This is such a genius idea...

Sorry, but I just have to copy this and try it for myself while hoping I never play against you doing that.

Feel free to steal it! I don't have a monopoly on Insidious Doctor.

When you use it, make sure to keep in mind that only Survivors with at least Tier 2 Madness see the illusions, so ideally you want the Survivor who you try to trick to be Tier 2.

Although I doubt the average player will guess you're Insidious camping, it's still best to use it after you're a bit into the game, and not like right off the bat.

    Thank you!

People like you always come to threads about bad Perks and give examples of situations that are either unlikely to work, unlikely to actually help you, or better done with another Perk. Just because it "can" work does not make the Perk fine how it is.

I think everyone, imcluding Iron Cutlass, is with you on this one tho, just because Insidious *can* be used as is doesn't mean it shouldn't be reworked.

In almost 2500 hours I have never gone against a killer who actually attempted to mindgame me with insidious in that manner. I had a myers sit in the exit gate once and tombstone me but that's it.

    Just rework it.

    I've done it as Doctor.

You pretend to be a clone and wait for them to hop on a gen, then go for a grab. Since Doctor has both a big Terror Radius and an excuse for a lookalike to just be standing around, people generally don't expect it.

Well, that and who the heck runs Insidious besides camping Bubbas?

  • I mean, I don't really care much personally but yes, I am also confused as to why the charms are split by role.

Like, yea I get that the original goal was to make it so that Killer charms were more fitting with the whole 'horror' tone that DbD's going for, while Survivors were allowed to have more wacky charms.

But like, I also think it's clear we've passed that point long ago - you can spruce up your hooks with gnomes, spaceships, colorful perk icons, holiday decorations, goofy looking zombie bunnies, and 99 variations of the Trapper mask.

So yea, I don't get the continued separation of charms by role.

Tangentially related, my main gripe with charms is that there are SO many with no real way to search through them or sort them.

I only really use the pride flag, so it's not much of a nuisance for me personally, but I hate to imagine what it's like for people who DO like to accessorize with their charms.

  • There's no need to be like this about this. Slow down and reread what Crowman is saying.

They aren't saying Sadako is strong.

They aren't saying she's the best.

They are simply saying that Sadako performs well in terms of Kills at both high MMR and all MMR brackets.

That is not an unreasonable interpretation of the stats presented.

You are right that these stats can't say much, but they can tell us what it is like for these Killers (on average) at both all MMR levels and high MMR.

For whatever reason, games with Onyro are roughly the same as games with Nurse and Blight - they all have a 61% Kill average.

Is that because Sadako's played less? Is that because people hook suicide? Is that because she can phase through bodyblocks and tunnel more efficiently? Maybe her in-and-out invisibility and short height are still effective gimmicks even at the highest level of play?

We don't know. You're right that the data can't tell us much.

But it can show us that Sadako is maintaining a 61% killrate even in the top 5% of MMR.

And that's all Crowman was saying. It's surprising she is doing well at high MMR.

I havent be able to test it myself yet, but people on twitter are complaining that non-event bp offerings are currently not working. Wondering if anyone else has info, or is a dev is willing to chime in. I will say this the screen shot only showed the match review screen not the pip screen, i know it only shows bonus bp on pip screen.

Bloody Party Streamers DO NOT work, Survivor Puddings DO work, Killer BP category offerings (the various wreath add-ons) DO work, and I can't confirm or deny about any of the Anniversary Cakes but it's better to save them IMO since you have a finite amount.

I also can't say anything about Escape Cakes or Survivor BP category offerings.

  • It's probably safe to say, yea.

Personally, I'd just like to see another playable character with a body type outside their current two main molds for the Survivors.

Cashier Carl would be fun for the memes, but I'd accept any character who isn't an average height/build man or an average height/build woman.

shroud of separation isn't bugged, it still tricks survivors into thinking I brought in a mori, and they all DC after taking the bait! Seriously, it's like the easiest win you ever get as a killer, and you don't waste any of your precious mori's!

    /s

Funnily enough, this actually happened to me as Survivor. Only 3 of us loaded in and then the other 2 DC'ed. And no Hatch back then until you'd repaired enough gens.

Fastest '4k' of that Hag's life.

  • I wouldn't be surprised.

As far as I'm aware, the Shroud of Separation for Killer has been bugged and has done absolutely nothing since 2019.

To be fair, I've never submitted a bug report or tested it within the last year though, because it's not even a worthless Offering, if it works it's actively detrimental to you as Killer.

It dawned on me also because I saw someone also say this why is there no survivor from the western era or just some time that isn't modern even the video I watched they said it even with the fake someone might say well how would they know how to fix a gen.

    Simple answer how would

An athlete, botanist, office worker almost every survivor know how to fix a gen closest to know would be Yui, and possibly Bill.

Yui for the fact she worked with machines before that and Bill more then likely had military training for it.

But I think they could have someone from the past be a survivor since the new chapter is coming out maybe the survivor is going be from the past.

Also I say new chapter because I don't know if BHVR said it yet but if you know what I'm talking about then it makes sense.

Unofficially the devs have said they won't do any original characters from beyond the "modern" era.

Their view on it is that Survivors should be relatable and sympathetic characters, so the player can understand them and be more invested.

Personally I think that's nonsense, but it is what it is. Hopefully they change their minds about that like they did with their old stance on adding a Clown Killer. I'd love a Survivor character who's from a year prior to 1950.

Yasssss, huntress was WW1 of WW2 Right? So a nice time back.

    WW1 era, so early 1900s.

Personally I'd love to see either a soldier who faced her and escaped or one of her 'adopted' daughters who escaped. Characters with lore connections to pre-existing characters are generally some of my favorite additions.

  • DbD's chat filter is such a joke.

  • I'm primarily a Killer Main, but I really enjoy playing Survivor too.

The biggest thing IMO is to be in a good mood when you start playing, this applies to both roles but it's even more true for Survivor because you are only 1/4th of a team and have 1/4th the personal agency as a result.

DbD is a very weird and silly game, and the best parts of can also be the worst parts of it depending on your mood. Being able to laugh off a facecamping Bubba, being slugged for 4 minutes, or a sweaty Nurse (Snurse) is essential to having a good time.

Having your chainsaw phase through a Mikaela to hit the hooked David or getting hit through a bodyblock by an M1 can be tilting or hilarious. It's all perspective.

Personally I like listening to my favourite music while queuing and make jokes about the weird shenanigans happening in game so I can get into the right mindset.

I first played DbD in early 2018. I mained The Wraith during the Howling Grounds, back in the days of Old DS, Old Insta-Heals, and during a patch where Flashlight blinds didn't require any timing - just blind the Killer at any point during pickup and get a save.

I enjoyed the game then, and I enjoy it now. It's genuinely one of my favourite games.

You just need to look at like it is - a fun game.

  • Visually they remind me of the Gravelord from Dark Souls.

    Which is pretty neat-o.

I've never played them, but playing against them I don't feel like they're that strong.

Locker teleportation is great mobility, but it's RNG dependent and can be soft countered by Survivors.

IMO Nightfall is mostly just a gimmick. The locker speed is mostly what matters, and even then it only really helps at loops with unlocked lockers at them. I may be an outlier, but even as a solo queuer I never struggled to hear the Dredge during Nightfall (they make very distinct sounds) or see my way around the map either time I faced them.

The ability to leave a Remnant behind and teleport to it seems pretty handy, but it can be countered in chase by leaving the tile or baiting the teleport. It's also time consuming because of the movement slowdown involved, so using it out of chase isn't advisible.

Dredge has good mobility and a passable chase ability. Most of the time that's more than enough for a Killer to win. So I think they're mostly okay.

That said, they're not gonna be dethroning Nurse any time soon.

  • Whoever the person writing the encounter wants to win.

They're fictional characters, with fictional abilities, and would by necessity have to fight in a fictional environment.

As a result every possible factor that could contribute to determining who comes out the victor of a fight would be dependent on the person writing said fight.

It's not impossible to write a believable fictional fight where Dwight manages to defeat Oni or Nemesis or whoever else.

And because these characters are works of fiction, various interpretations are pretty much equal. I could simply say "Oni attacks Nemesis and with a single well placed blow cleaves his skull" and be equally as correct as someone who goes super in-depth trying to quantify the various abilities and strengths of the two characters.

One story might be more fun, or more popular than another, but that wouldn't make any given story intrinsically more valid than any other story.

If 50 people a lie, it isn't any more true than a lie believed by 1 person.

Personally I say Nemesis would easily win. He can survive a direct hit with a rocket launcher and shrugs off a car driving into him. What the heck could Kazan possibly do with a katana or kanabo that would ever hurt him?

But my statement can't keep someone who wants Oni to win from believing or inventing a scenario in which everyone's favourite angry tongue-grabbing Japanese great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandpa manages to win.

Nor is my interpretation any more valid than their's.

TL;DR : Fiction is fiction. There's no way to know, no way to prove, and no way to test.

So trying to guess what would 'really happen' is a moot point.
