If shattered hope became basekit, pentimento builds would be THE meta and no one would want to run boons anymore
I feel like these are mutually exclusive outcomes of a theoretical basekit Shattered Hope though. If Pentimento was used by everyone, you're right, people would just not use Boons.
But if people aren't using Boons very often Pentimento loses a lot of it's meta appeal, because you wouldn't get value reliably. So people wouldn't throw Pentimento on every build. Which would mean people would bring Boons and etc.
You'd essentially be at an even playing field where both sides *might* use this thing, or they might not.
I'd like to clarify here, that I'm not personally in favour of Shattered Hope being basekit. It'd just be a band-aid that doesn't fix the actual problem (because, if we're honest, when people say "Boons are annoying" they aren't complaining about Boon: Dark Theory, they're complaining about Boon: Circle of Healing). I just don't think it'd be a very problematic change either.
Personally I think BHVR just needs to totally rework Circle of Healing and take another look at how Boons interact with multilevel maps like RPD or Midwich. Then they'd be okay.
That said, your idea of decreasing the Blessing speed after every Boon use isn't something I'm opposed to either. I just think that Boon: Circle of Healing specifically is the issue, not necessarily Boons in and of themselves.
(especially since you can't boon a pentimento hex).
I wasn't aware of this interaction between Boons and Rekindled Totems, that's interesting to know.
I can't help but imagine that pentimento would be on every killers build especially when you take into account that many players also run boons to counter the very common plaything & penti combo. With a basekit shattered hope, there's just no downside to that combo anymore.

Nothing to do with the argument but just an expansion on the interaction of boon and rekindled totems.
You're able to bless them, just not to a desired effect. It'll take the same time as blessing a regular totem, except after all that time and effort the totem will just smash as if it were a regular cleanse and be unable to be booned or otherwise revived by any means.
I'm not sure about if it's possible to boon a pentimento that came from a clensed hex or dull, but It's not possible to reboon a pentimento hex broken by shattered hope. (I've tried, the interaction to boon doesn't show up.)

I am average yes, but understand that low MMR, mid MMR, or high mmr means nothing in soloQ.
I made a thread some time ago, where i was constantly matched against 6k, 8k nurses even if i am losing constantly against them.
Even if i can up my playstyle, i really depend on the other 3 to still be able to last against her in chase. And i cant really blame them if they dont last 20sec, as the main counterplays to nurse are laughable (the "be unpredictable" and "break LOS").
This is evidence of poor matchmaking and something I think we are all frequent victims of. Hopefully the coming changes help somewhat but I'm doubtful it will change much. But standard players should not be getting matched with Nurses and Blights that have the killers mastered.

honestly id hate it if they gutted her, and thats the issue with her power. They can either revamp her entire kit, gut her or shes always gonna be slightly more powerful than some would like. There is no imbetween really. If they make it really punishing to use her power, and that it takes forever to recharge shell have no map presence because shes slower than survivors. if they make her 4.2 but also making her power more accessible to newer players people will hate her.
Honestly, i believe there is never gonna be a way to "win" in the devs eyes with nurse, hence why they dont touch her.
I agree. I believe it impossible altering her to a level that will please both sides and not kill the Nurse's fundamental mechanics. It's a very rocky slope which is why I am encouraging staying civil and just engaging in discussion rather than criticizing each other or chest pumping about who knows better. Nurse is played in all tiers of skill play and everyone is entitled to have a say on what concerns them.

You're the one looking foolish getting all worked up like this.
That claim isn't the least bit absurd. The people defending nurse in her current state are either nurse mains who just want her to stay OP, ignoring balance, or people who aren't actually good enough at the game to see why she is OP. There is no other group. I have been in many posts like this and every poster defending nurse falls into one of those two categories.
In this case, yeah, I do know better than the vast majority of posters who have talked about this topic.
I'd rather you didn't reply to this. Your posts have added nothing to the discourse.
You'd rather me not reply? Goodness you really do have an attitude of arrogance. You don't get to make the decision on who comments on what nor are you correct with the claims you make that you know better than anyone else.
If you don't want to be challenged on these claims, then don't make them to begin with.

I wish you were able to cash them in and get a bit of BP back...
That would be amazing but it would have to be a trade in slider that lets you have control over how many you want to cash in since most folks like to keep at least one of things from past events. I'd be all over that!

You're upset because I said 'busted'? Sure, change it to 'OP'. Same difference...
I can easily admit when I'm wrong. I admitted I was wrong about Dead hard not needing a nerf. But sure, make up whatever you'd like about me.
No. Again you're NOT reading.
You made an absolutely absurd claim that people defending nurse on the forums are bad with an attitude that you know better than anyone else. This is not only provocative but an overreach.
When a thread claiming she needs nerfs pops up and there is no mention of what these nerfs are (or are very vague like this one), It is no surprise that some users will jump to her defense because they don't want her to become gutter waste like poor Freddy did.
Cool it with the attitude and stop going out looking for a fight. It's completely unnecessary and just makes you look somewhat foolish.

Show me one veteran who believes nurse does not need to be toned down or reworked. I'll wait.
I never said she didn't need to be toned down or reworked. You're putting words in my mouth. I was simply correcting that I've rarely heard any high end streamers call Nurse "busted".
See? You're so far in your own ideology that you're right and everyone else is wrong and a bad player that you don't even read anything comments that could potentially disagree with your own opinion.

It doesn't really need such a punitive nerf. Circle of Healing in a vacuum is mostly fine.
But it gets problematic when you start adding in Medkits, co-op healing speeds, and the fact that Boons can be reused constantly. And just reducing the speed isn't gonna fix those problems, but it will make the perk nearly worthless on it's own.
Honestly they need to just rework it completely and give it an entirely new effect. The idea is fine conceptually but it does NOT play nice with DbD's other means of Healing and it's baffling to me that they'd rather nerf Self-Care and 'rework' Botany Knowledge instead of just changing the actual problem perk.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3251304#Comment_3251304
Why not?
Maybe this my Killer Main bias showing, or just me being an idiot, but I feel like it'd only be a problem if the Survivors lit 5 boons and the Killer gets instant 5 stack Pentimento or if the Survivors keep lighting boons after finding out the Killer has Pentimento, and both of those edge cases are kind of on the Survivors for not being more careful with their Boon usage IMO.
Furthermore, the Survivors will always know where the Penti totem is if the Killer lights it immediately after stomping, AND it lets the Survivors potentially get an extra use from their Boon.
How would basekit Shattered Hope + Pentimento be an issue?
Well, penti is such a potent hex with its bonuses because you generally have to lose a hex to gain it (or have a survivor in your game with inner healing or a totem challenge). Most survivors have the knowledge to cleanse it again because they monitor where the hex got cleansed earlier. This is the risk and reward with pentimento and why it has such punishing penalties like 40% gen slowdown.
If shattered hope became basekit, pentimento builds would be THE meta and no one would want to run boons anymore (especially since you can't boon a pentimento hex).
I can't help but feel that if they made shattered basekit, they would have to nerf pentimento and I would rather they didn't.
I've always been a fan of the diminishing returns idea. The more times you place a boon, the longer it takes to complete the action so the killer actually gets something out of snuffing them.

Sure, it may seem like confirmation bias, but it is the only logical explanation for this issue.
I am a top player/streamer on my server who has uploaded footage both as and against nurse on here proving I know exactly what I am talking about.
Two of the main nurse defenders who have shown up in basically every thread about nurse have proven they are at best average at the game (through gameplay footage and self-admission).
Not only on my server, but also NA and Europe, all the most skilled streamers admit nurse is busted. Even ones who main nurse admit she is too powerful.
The only people defending nurse on these forums who have uploaded gameplay footage have shown themselves to have little gameplay knowledge, and those who haven't shown gameplay footage have a perfect chance to do so now. It is quite obvious that the only reason they think Nurse is in a fine state is because their personal skill at the character isn't up to par.
That's the only explanation that makes sense. Unless you have a different way to explain why nurse has been the only character complained about consistently since her creation, all the top players admit she is OP, and basically all the people defending her on the forums, amusingly, have nurse profile pictures.
No. It IS confirmation bias. There are multiple veterans will differing views and ideas on what could change on nurse. I rarely hear the term "busted" from any of the big streamers but I do hear "strong".
Outright claims and labeling such as yours are absurd and naive and as a veteran with experience, you should know better.

I get the same problem with the co op action archive task. Switching challenges doesn't work for me and the new challenge won't progress either.
If that's you too, the only solution I've found is to close the game and reboot it. It's a fickle challenge and the only one that gives me grief.
-
I'm sorry, but that is a dismally absurd claim.
In fact, one can call that confirmation bias. You're no more informed than the people you think you're calling out.

I haven't played much this event but the 2 dcs I did get were both against legion. Both because of 5 hit chain.
First time was a small map and we all spawned in close together and legion found us right away, survivor downed dcd.
Second was a 3 man spawn inside badham. Dwight went outside and got frenzied quickly and despite our efforts by going different directions, me and the other survivor were downstairs on that gen at the frenzy start so we quickly made a 3 count. 4th survivor was far away but the not so clever Dwight finished his mend right outside. Proceeds to dc after completing the chain. That legion farmed with us for a bit and let us get our cosmetics done before killing us. What a nice homicidal maniac that Frankie was!

I think feeling bad when someone insults you doesn't mean you need therapy.
Bm'ing in game and irl can feel the same because it is the insult either way. I agree we should all have a "thicker" skin but it is not something that can magically happen. Humans have emotions.
I also feel like this game frustrates people to the point they do that to let some steam. It is not an excuse but it can't be helped.
We can all stop playing games that frustrate us tho. It is our own choice to keep playing.
Yeah this is defs not one of those games where you should play when you're in a sour mood. Generally the mood only gets worse.

I don´t believe that. Also, now we categorize people into "nurse mains", too ? what...
Well, yeah. If people play nurse almost constantly, they're a nurse main.
You might have difficulty believing it but many good nurses understand that there are some things that pose an issue and need tweaking. The last Nurse main I played with streams and we did some 1v1s together. He gave me some great pointers on every chase!

yeah such a chad perk, you 50/50d a m1 and now your screen is black as a reward, so chad!!!!!!!!! also it doesnt work half of the time that you press it, that really is chad
Sounds like an issue on your end there friend. I have no issues getting my dead hards off. Ironic, you say you liked old dh as a good way to outplay the killer but there was no "Outplay" when using old dh for distance. It was uncounterable!
Dead hard is my favorite exhaustion perk and It actually feels rewarding pulling it off now. Once the killer realizes you have it, a new mind game begins which is really fun for me. I can't help but think you are trying to use new dh like the old one and that's not how you use it. You need to think on when and where to E. It's not used for greeding a loop, it's used because you're literally about to take a hit. If you're struggling with using it, watch some of the big survivor and killer streamers. Lots of people in high mmr use dh because it is still... A fantastic perk!

The nurse mains can't admit it. They are so used to being rewarded with easy wins because of her broken mechanics.
If they admitted it then they would also have to admit they aren't as good as they think they are.
I'm friends with a few nurse mains. They all agree that her blink attacks need to be special and like the idea of Nurse getting a stun and fatigue state after a pallet stun. Addons are up for debate due to what they would be replaced with.
Most of the community seem to be in support of blinks being special attacks but it's up to BHVR to make the change.

being better at loops as killer and waiting it out????
Mate, no level of baiting or loop mastery could outperform a dead hard for distance to a safe window or pallet. That's why they removed it.
The new dh is an absolute Chad perk and when pulled off correctly is far more rewarding with the distance it gains. Difference is, it actually takes skill to pull off unlike old dhfd.
