https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/352055/nice-unbalanced-game-that-favor-survivors
I love the sentence: "impossible to beat most of the time." Is it impossible, or just uncommon?
The killer role is straightforward, the survivor role is difficult. As survivors get better/work together the balance of the game is going to shift. That's really the only way to have a chance at balancing it. Deathgarden was kind of the opposite and was a disaster: if the hunter was bad the others survived with ease, if the hunter was great it was a bloodbath (kind of like nurse).
You can't really balance the game around SWF. Even if we throw out the idea of it being bad to balance for rare occasions, it's impossible to force. If I understand BHVR's reasoning, it's pretty easy for players to just enter and leave a lobby until they end up in a group. If you put some type of penalty on SWF you just get back to that situation.
I do wish they informed both survivors and killers of who was SWF though, even if only at the end of games. If nothing else would have more clarity.
On your solutions:
Increasing gen time is irrelevant. SWF are always going to be able to target gens more effectively than soloQ. If anything increasing gen times just makes the difference more stark. You could make the gen times 2 minutes and then SWF would be the only ones with a chance.
I get the boons point, but really what items are supposed to be available to survivors. Tool kits for gen rush, flashlights for saves, even medkits? You'd have to completely reimagine/rebuild elements of the game to address coordinated survivor item teams.
You can reduce item effectiveness and adjust some addons, talking at Medkits here as they are broken, especially iri addon.
They should also buff Solo Q, Kindred basekit is fair option for Solo's and Duo's. If you are in a team of 3 and up, it should be disabled.
Low tier killers also need some love and rework to make them playable

Take a look at these survivor builds. They were done with repairing all gens in five minutes or so.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/9QJ2OXN2E7BT/are-you-kidding-me.png
It's abundantly clear that survivors still have access to gamebreaking builds which invalidate any hope the killer could have at fullfilling his own objective. Now stack these odds with an extremely survivor sided map (Ormond) and voice comms/SWF and the game becomes entirely unwinnable.
They are busted because majority of people here are newbies, and DBD is balanced around those players, so when you get a good SWF team you stand no chance, because game favor survivors hard in this game.

First off, I'd like to point out that Killer Instinct is not detailed anywhere in the Game Manual in-game.
Similar to Killer Instinct, Gut Instinct shows the position of the killer to the survivor, and bypasses Undetectable and Blindness (just like Killer Instinct bypasses lockers and aura blocking). A few survivor perks should be updated to use the new Gut Instinct.
Premonition - You have the undeniable capability to sense danger. The killer is indicated by Gut Instinct while looking in the directon of the killer in a 45 degree cone within a range of 36 meters. Gut Instinct ends if the killer leaves the range or begins a chase with you. Premonition has a cooldown of 30 seconds.
Object of Obsession - A supernatural bond links you to the Killer. Whenever your aura is revealed to the Killer, the Killer is indicated to you by Gut Instinct and you gain 6% bonus to healing, repairing, and cleansing speed. If you are the Obsession, your aura is revealed to the Killer for 3 seconds oncevery 30 seconds.
----
Premonition could have a set duration like 5 seconds instead of lasting the entire time the killer is within range.
Object of Obsession will no longer be a 1-way street with stealth killers. Plus it prevents the survivor from knowing exactly what the killer is doing at the time. (Trappers and Hags rejoice!)
Like you need more buffs, all you have to do is get good and you will have 100% escape rate as a premade team.

They are not better, the game is designed for them to win, you survivor mains can't accept the truth. It's pathetic at this point how defensive you are and how hard you try to make this game much easier when it's already free win for good SWF team.

High elo in this game is FAKE.
You start at 800, it goes up to 3000, but anyone above 1600 plays with everyone above that, there is literally no use bringing up ELO / MMR etc it's useless and only used by people who think they have ascended god.
You can check on his stream right now.
4x lvl 100 Prestige Survivors that owned hard. Just imagine how much hours you need for it ? They are def not 800 or 1600.

Yeah legitimate tactic to little to no counterplay in high elo, OP game design ngl

What if instead of being 3 seconds it went back to 5 but couldn't be used in a locker? That would mean that it no longer would have no effective counterplay so it probably wouldn't be as meta as before.
Having two uses and 3 sec stun without locker grab would also be reasonable
DS Is already OP still, any buff to it, gg abusers again

Another killer main that had a bad match against some SWFs and comes here to complain. Just get over it and move to the next match, most people are solo players and SWF like that is not gonma happen all the time
That's not the point, point is to buff killers vs SWF and to buff solo Quee, to make a good balance.
There are many things that need to be look at, idk why DBD doesn't listen to players like Hens, OTZ, D3ad and others when they say something is broken and should be looked at, they have valid points.

Exactly how many 6K hour SWF teams are you facing? Even the devs have came out and said SWF teams are a lot fewer and far between then any forum poster seems to understand. Even if I get stomped playing a what D? C? tier killer with nonmeta perks in a match... it wouldn't invalidate that most matches I'll stomp even as the D/C Tier killer with nonmeta perks.
I face quite a lot of 6k teams, either SWF or very good organized solo quee. You're stand points are valid for low/avrg MMR, the higher you go it is impossible to paly the way you do and take a WIN

Did I call it balanced? She was the weakest Killer back then and I tried to main her. She needed buffs. (though personally she needs a small tone down now mainly in terms of how powerful her proxy camp is)
But I actually played this game when it was hard to play Killer. It's so freaking easy now for most matches. I play Trickster, GF, and Twins. I still will win the majority as weaker Killers. Hell I've even taken off gen regression on some so it's riskier and I might get stomped and they got a shot. I'll lose some, yes. But I'm playing lower tier killers without meta perks and still perform better than people throwing fits on here.
Maybe against potato survivors, give me a ss of 6k+ hours team where you stomped with trickster, i really wanna see that

I played back when Hag had a stun on her teleport. The Killer mains of this year are so spoiled it's hilarious. If you're not 4K'ing most of your matches with ease, you're just not playing right or need more practice. Imagine thinking Killer is weak in 2022.
Imagine calling it balance when Hag had a stun on her Teleport. I think Survivors are spoiled, the harder it gets for them, the more they complain. They complain because they can't go into the game anymore and bully the killer, make 1000 mistakes and still escape withe ease. You still escape with ease you just have to rush gens and its over, but you can't bully + escape + make mistakes anymore

Upload Videos of high win streaks, of disconnects and first hook kills.
Since the devs ignore our ideas and wishes regarding this Monster of a game destroyer still since weeks/months we have to show them more what Problem this killer really is for this game.
You do know that 80% Nurse players will lose playing her ?
She has so high skill cap and it's out of limit for most players.
Did you also knew that only 1% can get a winstreak on her, i am an avrg Nurse player ( around 1k hours ) and i can tell you i lose more often then win, mostly because map design carry most survivor games and i don't have time to chase everyone. Its very difficult to hit EVERY blink

balance the game i guess
-
@Roaroftime said:
The logic behind preventing locker flashlight saves is because there is no way to counter it as the killer, fair enough. However, as a survivor in solo queue there is no reasonable way to counter the overpowered killer perk, eruption. So why is it ok for killers to have play styles with no counter but not ok for survivors? Yet another way to unbalance the game and force people to play killer.
Why people run Eruption in the first place ? Because gen rushing is a BIG problem.
They have to fix Medkits and COH first

Yes ofc, DEVS might eventually fix what's broken if we show them true reality of things.
Killer feels exactly the same against good organized SWF, they also have no mercy and are generally VERY TOXIC

From my perspective, the only way you can win vs solid SWF's without camping and tunneling is play a killer like Nurse or Blight, they're the only killers that can keep chases short(if you're good at them) and have enough time to 12 hook. But I've seen people here on the forums who think that mid tier and even low tier killers can 12 hook and still 4k vs good survivors if they get good enough with their killers power, there's got to be something I'm missing here because at 3k hours into DBD(with most of it spent of killer) I just can't win without tunneling and camping, I've learned the majority of the killers powers, I know all the general tiles in the game, I know how to chase and loop with most of the killer roster, but I just simply can't win without camping and tunneling if I'm not playing Nurse, Blight, or Spirit.
Even Nurse/Blight and Spirit don't win without camping or tunneling, it's impossible. They are just best at tunneling, that's why they are S tier

@Fantasy said:
They already buffed killers so that the average kill rate is 60% but it's never enough is it?
Did you know that many kill rates are
A) against low skilled players that are easy to kill
B) From killers that face camp
C) From killers that face camp and turn 1 kill into 3 or 4
-
@feechima said:
At this point I think the devs could buff killers so their success rate is at 75-80% and there would still be a thread asking for 120 second gens and a buff for killers. Game is easier than it has ever been for killers. Maybe if you didn't murder so many casuals and inflate your MMR you wouldn't face squads that can only make it out if they sweat like the killers they face. It is sweaty at the top, take a towel.
You again miss the point. Game isn't supposed to be a free win in high mmr for survivors and a free lose to killers. That shouldn't be the case, and it's like that because DBD is balancing around bad survivors
-
@pseudechis said:
"the person on hook isn't allowed to play the video game at all" - this is a common misconception about DBD. Hanging on hook is considered gameplay, its part of the game.
"Non-participation" either being slugged or hooked is one of the threats you face as survivor and part of the killer's ability to build pressure. The more they remove these elements (i.e. built in UB) the less interesting the game becomes overall because there is a substantial lack of threat in the gameplay.
I realize people want a game of loopy chase where they get to feel safe and actively participate in the objective for the duration, but that game isn't DBD and when DBD becomes that it'll be a shadow of its former gritty survival horror self.
Because at that point as survivor, what will you be fleeing from? the answer is nothing, so why bother fleeing?
Its possible to outplay a bubba at the hook, give it a try. The threat he represents can also make for some very exciting plays, especially around the basement.
This is smart approach
If you give to many 2nd chances, nerf camping, nerf tunneling, nerf slugging, you have to buff killers and you have to nerf gen rushing. There is no other way.
-
After i saw your post, i had to do it xD
3K just because they tried to rescue basement face camp bubba

Bruh if ur having this much trouble with a team of SWF, maybe ur not as high MMR as u think u are lol.
I mean, I’ve see. REAL high MMR players go on looooong win streaks. d3ad plays with nemesis, OTZ has a series dedicated to that. If im not mistakes theres a player with over 80 wins in their belt as blight. So it shouldn’t be that hard
d3ad is one of the best killers in my opinion, i watch his twitch stream a lot, he LOSE many games, i didn't see more then 5 winstreak recently on his stream. OTZ made that work after countless attempts and 10k+ hours dedicated to the game.

No they need to come up with ideas that aren't just making perks basekit
Corrupt should've stayed the same... for all intents and purposes
Making Gens 80 charges is fine
Making the UI icons have more meaning would go a long way (but I haven't seen what they have come up with so... it's still iffy)
Making base regression better would help with Killers bringing multiple regression perks and make regression perks easier to balance
Solving the base game would go a long way to help this game... just saying
They need more base game stats... seems everyone runs certain perks it throws off everything else
Like why was Corrupt used a lot- Answer... cause most Killers couldn't make it from one side of the map to the other without Gens getting completed... Simple answer Maps
Why was Ruin used a lot- Answer... it was automatic and increased Gen regression... Simple answer cause Kicking Gens took to long (even with Brutal Strength)
Why was Dead Hard used a lot- Answer... Cause it allowed Survivors to make it to a pallet or window and the dodge aspect... Simple answer to make chases even longer therefore giving more time for the other Survivors to finish Gens
Why was BT used a lot- Answer cause Survivor needed a way to deal with Campers and Tunnelers (safe to say)... Simple answer to punish those playstyles... but we've come a long way from it working as planned
And so on and so forth
Maps are big problem, but they can't re-design it.
Maps are big aspect of this game, its good to play on different map from time to time, it's good to have some maps that favor survivors and some that favor killers, it's good to have differnt map look, it makes game look nicer.
But what they can do, they can adress perks, rework and make some basekits to make game healthier.
Why killers camp ? Because going for 12 hooks is 80%+ of the games a loss. You have to slug, camp and tunnel most of the time. But if they make gen take longer for example and give survivors counterplay for camping and tunneling, you would see healthier game where killer will go for more chases and hooks
-
@Gandor said:
I don't like this idea. Nerf medkits and shattered hope basekit means killers want to have nonstop injured survivors (and every boon is now meme buckle-up level perk) - especially soloQ would be screwed (no need to talk about another option in SC - this one got gutted for good and now can be considered killer perk without any reservation). CI basekit will not be balanced by kindred basekit. Reassurence and UB basekit can counter camping/tunneling, but will not be balanced by being nonstop injured. This would be direct buff to DH as it would basically become requirement - you can't heal so you might as well try to learn DH every time.
Overall I don't like this.
You don't like the fact that healing is so op right now and you wish not to change it, that's not a valid reason, if killer injury a survivor he should stay injured for sometime and not heal up in 5 seconds with medkits and boons. Some survivors even heal up mid chase so yeah, that's how broken it is right now

The only way I could believe 1/2 hook matches being the Survivor's fault is with full comp-squads, pre-dropping pallets and holding W when they should.
Otherwise it sounds like misplays on your end, in which case it is better to 'lose and learn' than win and remain ignorant imo. Did someone lead you to main building while the 3 gens behind you popped? Did you screw up a mindgame? Did you use your power too early or too late? It honestly is worth recording all matches and deleting the wins, in order to review the losses and learn how not to lose in the future.
Yeah check this twitch channel and you will see what i am talking about

You say SWF for 1/10, but how many of those matches did you also face a SWF of friends dinking around and losing? How did you KNOW that the losses were SWF if you didn't see them at least friended with each other on whatever platform you play on. If you are theoretically 'high MMR' you very easily could have actually gone against 4 separately good players, whose understanding of the game is at the level of knowing who should do what and when.
I say 1/10 stomped, that doesn't mean i don't have matches where i fairly lose and have fun.
Stomp means i get 1 hook or 2 attacks during the whole match.
I know because i check profiles.
My mmr is quite high as avrg hours on survivors i face is around 5k+, unless the game decides to put me higher ( and many times even lower, against total newbies ) but that is MMR issue

Yes there can be balance around everything, if there is a will
They can nerf hell out of SWF teams in high mmr if they want, and leave lower mmr intact or even buffed.
They have to implement ranking system and put some restrcitions and nerfs the higher you go.
But i guess there is just not enough will power to do it.
This would be even fun.
Imagine "Dead Hard" Being locked out of your kit if your above Diamond rank for example, and in the same time basekit kindred buff for lower mmr and so on. Yeah 99% of dbd players just take self care in corner... Game should be balanced around most players if you balance around the very best survivor teams only having chance winning it ruins the game for everyone else.
I disagree here.
DBD should be balanced around competitive players and make Killers stronger
DBD should fix solo Q
DBD Should give back Ranking system
DBD Should give BUFFS to survivors in lower MMR, such as "From bronze to Gold, they have 1 or 2 more perks" or something similar, im sure it can be think of to be fair. That way it is going to be fun for everyone
Low mmr players usually die to killers without PERKS, without addons, playing C tier killers and so on. If they balance the game around these players, i don't see how high mmr can have fun for both survivors and killers
