Yea, they should just stop having the art department trying to make money, work on the game programming that they likely know less if anything about for free until they and their families die homeless of starvation.
In all seriousness, I will never understand players like you that don't understand that games need to make money somehow in order to keep their employees working on the game and to pay other bills to keep the lights and servers running.
Did you even notice that I never said anything about not having new Killers, or Survivors, or even just basic perk DLCs that make money and actually add something to the gameplay?

With such a hefty demand for them, I doubt they would ever stop! Can't wait for the new Feng cosmetics also!
Everybody knows the real issue this game has...
It's the complete lack of cosmetic options that really let me stand out while my goal is to hide!
It's totally worth the miserable gameplay just so I can be seen by my peers for a few minutes or so I can really let those pesky survivors see what I think is a pretty sweet killer outfit! Makes my whole day better! :)

But I need ten different backpacks for my main to ruin the entire outfit!
Don't worry friend! They will definitely make more backpack cosmetics. Every survivor shall have no less than 10 useless backpacks!
-
Unfortunately that is just too much common sense for this dev team to handle. They don't care about their player base, too busy making useless cosmetics for the fools that keep buying them to worry about anything else.
-
Until these devs actually make survivor a fun role to play again and quit making killers so oppressive this will continue to happen. Clearly they haven't understood that yet, or more likely they just don't care.
This needs to keep happening until the devs are finally forced to fix their game or just watch it die and probably never make another popular game ever again.
-
One time I loaded into Glenvale and all four survivors spawned behind the saloon at the bottom of the dual stairs. I was the first one to move so I ran over and gave the other survivors some nods to see if they were ready to go.
We formed a circle and just kept on nodding rapidly at each other for a solid 25 seconds just goofing around until we noticed Ghostface was watching us from the top of stairs behind me and we all panicked and scattered in different directions.
I like to think all 5 players were laughing in that moment, I know I was.
-
To answer your question, I think the idea behind raising your MMR is to be challenged by players that are at the same or above your own skill level. Most people enjoy being challenged when playing games or they get bored quickly.
-
I think Alan Wake is a good survivor for DbD. I remember playing the first Alan Wake years ago on the xbox 360 and just being mesmerized by the story. His flashlight perk being Low Key OP for dodging and gaining distance is pretty lore accurate too.
I could see him being the survivor meant for the Dredge chapter. I don't hate Haddie though, I just think Alan is a better fit.
-
I did manage to get 2 different killers to get into a snowman while I was in another one and have snowman chases/loops with me. Most fun I had in the event so far.
-
The gif pretty much sums it up. The more I see the devs posting here, it becomes pretty obvious they don't play Solo Survivor at all. I wonder why that is?...
-
At this point it feels like they are doing this deliberately to troll and make people angry. Don't buy or unlock skins with backpacks until they get the hint that people don't want them.
-
Since this game is so obviously killer sided and these ridiculously high killer win streaks are so common, then just buff Survivors until they can also perform 1000+ win streaks. I'd really enjoy seeing how all these ego stroking killer mains respond when the situation is reversed.

I hate to break it for you, but the main strength of SWF has never been communication. It is that you remove the Teammate-RNG. You wont have that person who just opens Chests the whole game or decides to crouch next to the corner of the Map while the Killer is full map away.
You will have 3 reliable teammates and you can be sure that Gens are done while you are being chased. When you play Solo you will see that even if ALL information are available for some Survivors, they wont do the correct thing. E.g. I knew a Meg had Kindred. Yet, when I unhooked someone, she still ran full map, despite seeing that someone else went for the Unhook.
Another example - I was on my first Hook. My SWF-Mate gets chased (they were the Obsession, this was even before the HUD) and just got injured. The other two Survivors were on the same Gen and yet, neither of them got me before second Stage. They had all information available and did not move.
Giving Survivors all Aura Reads and a Chat Wheel will most likely improve it. But it will still not be on SWF-Level. You can be sure if 4 players who usually play SWF on Comms and are good at teh game, play without Comms, they would have roughly the same results. But if you put 4 Solos which are not that good together and let them use Comms, they wont be much better.
Global Voice Chat is obviously not gonna happen. Was explained multiple times already.
So your whole point is for the devs to just continue to do nothing? SWF continues to get access to free information, voice chat, and co-ordination and Solo remains miserable forever and has to use up perk slots to get that same information that SWF gets for free?
This forum is a damn joke. People constantly complaining while offering no ideas on how to help the situation. Just constant negative responses about any opinion or idea.

While somewhat true, there's an important detail that's being left out. The biggest advantage is coordination which almost always comes from a source OUTSIDE of dbd itself.
Currently the only real info that we can think of (in trial) is where the killer, where survivors are, how close the door to being opened is, and what's been used (pallets and boxes). Everything else is effectively covered by the hud (and the door is a good guess away). Adding something like base kit bond would give more info than a single call out, NOT humoring base Object, base kit windows would make normal windows useless. Idk if we're missing something but it kinda goes like that for our eyes.
As the voice chat, should we go down that rabbit hole, bhvr would be swarmed with reports for years. MAYBE after that time it could help, we won't argue that, but that's after causing a mess that's avoided simply by not being added. Overall we're going to disagree on adding this, but that's just our opinion on it.
I agree the HUD is useful but just knowing where the killer is and knowing where other survivors are from a simple voice call out is the most important advantage a SWF has.
Why should only SWF groups have access to that important information for free? Just because they are friends or found each other on a SWF discord group? Solo Survivors are playing the game the way it was meant to be played. They shouldn't be punished for that, they should be rewarded and given an incentive to play Solo because it is miserable and has been for a long time.

How does adding base perks only for solos not punishing playing with friends? That's making something exclusive to one type of play.
We're going to hard disagree on matches would be the same. This game may not be as bad as old CoD lobbies, but it's unnervingly close. There WILL be a massive uprising of tossing for petty reasons. This may be a doomsday crazy talking but it has a lot of evidence to make it seem REALLY plausible.
Because using the logic you're using, Solo players are already being "punished" for simply not playing with other people. A SWF group already has the advantage by being able to communicate with each other.
Giving Solo players the same information that a SWF group already has does nothing to the group but help coordination that is lacking between the two right now.
I do agree with you that voice comms for all could be used for harassment at first. But by reporting and simply muting/blocking, or actually being able to speak to each other and hear the emotions of other people, would help overall.
-
@Rulebreaker said:

The first would be effectively punishing players for playing with friends and if there's a duo and 2 solos, the solos have added an advantage for the duo.
The second again makes it seem that play with friends is being punished if the emotes are only accessable to solos. Admittedly it might work out the best though if for all.
The 3rd would be a nightmare to have. Either it's on and you're listening to grownup children yell for petty reasons or you mute them and have them become the worst teammates you can have out of spite for muting the chat.
No, a punishment for playing with Friends would be nerfing or removing SWF. They already have a comms/information advantage. Adding comms for Solos doesn't hurt friend groups at all.
The emote/chat wheel is for all players not just solos..
Almost every multiplayer game has a voice chat with mute options and it works just fine. (This game will never be worse than old Call of Duty lobbies.) You mute and/or report troublemakers. If they get mad and throw the game because of that they are immature and the outcome of the trial would be exactly the same as it is right now..
-
The way to solve the SWF communication problem is by first buffing Solo Queue Survivor and ONLY Solos so it nullifies the SWF comm advantage and then buffing killers to match that strength after.
(The game already knows and tracks when players are in a SWF and when they are Solo when joining a lobby.)
So you either give basekit perk info ONLY to players joining lobbies alone, add a emote/chat wheel (with enough choices to communicate effectively), or just add a global voice chat for Survivors with a mute option for the players that don't want to use it. Just like every other multiplayer game that needs teamwork to be successful has used.
-
Another trash update hell bent on ruining this game. Exactly what I've come to expect from this company.
-
If the game was more fun to play there wouldn't be a DC problem in the first place. The community and the Devs have sucked all the fun out of this game. Good job ๐
-
No deal! Killers can keep Lethal and I'll continue to bring Mft and we can settle things in the middle of the map when we spawn in. ๐๐
-
Nothing I loved about DbD remains. Those funny moments don't exist anymore. Wish I could have your optimism but I don't think this will get better any time soon.
-
Same here. Judging by all the tunnel talk lately it's the main strategy. I'm sure BHVR will finally figure out a solution that actually works in about 2 years.. If the game even lasts that long.
-
They are crutches used by new killer mains or people that are bad at chasing. You'll never get better if you keep your training wheels on every game and exploit one sided mechanics.
-
In my experience, lobby dodging happen often enough to notice them but it never really takes 10 minutes to start a trial unless I'm playing really late at night. Even then the longest I personally have waited was probably around 5 or 6 minutes tops.. Exaggerations attempt to highlight the key points of an argument but still have some truth to them.
-
This whole topic is subjective and based off personal opinions. Without a DbD Leaderboard this is just naming DbD content creators.
Competitive DbD is ridiculous, filled with ego centric players who think that just because they play in a small group of players that they are somehow better than everyone else in the world. There are also so many different rules and restrictions that are constantly changing so it's pointless to even compare it to regular "pub" DbD.
Most importantly, even if a Leaderboard existed in DbD, it would absolutely be filled with cheaters trying to gain recognition. Why turn DbD into a competitive game when cheating is already so prevalent and accessible?
-
There is no point, it's just another extremely disappointing and lazy event. Nothing about this event makes me even want to play the game.

Wasn't early at all. Two gens left and the survivors kept going into deadzones where pallets were used and apparently 'all' the pallets were gone. I don't blame them for going into deadzones because the pallet spawns on that map are rubbish but as I said I only dropped five after three gens were completed. I don't know if some other survivor was dropping them often and Ghostface just got mad at me because I knew how to loop him whilst my team couldn't take chase for 30 seconds.
I wouldn't dwell on it too much then. Just another typical angry player that was mad because they got outplayed. And the team mates that were annoyed should have simply paid more attention to their surroundings and scouted their route before the killer chased them.
-
Using too many pallets is only bad if it's still very early in the match. If you are still on 5 gens and half the pallets are gone that is a problem.
However, if there are only 1 or 2 gens left, I say drop every single pallet you see while in Chase and buy as much time as possible so those last remaining gens can get finished.
-
I don't have my Kate to p100 yet either. I'm halfway through prestige 97 with her though. The closest game I've played is 3 out of 5 p100 players. I've seen 4 p100 player games a couple times on streams but never that magical 5 p100 game.
-
It's tough to point to just one thing as the cause. I've been a SoloQ main for 3 years. Sometimes matchmaking works, sometimes it doesn't but you also have to factor in several things.
Experienced Survivor main burnout causing them to take a break from the game.
Newer players who are still learning the game. (There are a lot of things to learn and practice!)
More experienced survivors switching over to play killer at specific times. (Or just forming SWFs to avoid matchmaking with Solos)
But most importantly, I don't think the player base is quite large enough to accurately put 5 players of equal skill, region/ping, experience, who also all happen to be playing at the same exact time, together consistently enough to notice it working.
-
Playing killer is so easy that when they finally lose a game or two they flood this forum with copium and gaslighting instead of just practicing and actually getting better.
-
Congrats on finding your way to that promised land! May your exit gate bags be plentiful and long-lasting! ๐

Unfortunately this is a problem as old as human civilization. Everyone has their own opinions and it's extremely rare for a majority of people to agree on anything.
-
I only have 72! Now I live in a world of shame and defeat! ๐ญ
Seriously though, this thread gave me some good laughs this morning. Thanks all, it was a refreshing read! ๐๐๐
-
I usually just stick to a well rounded build (1 chase perk, 1 aura perk, 1 team perk, and 1 situational perk.) and change perks and my item based off what my teammates and killers are using that day.
Stacking perks that all have similar functions can definitely be fun but after a trial or two, I feel like my build just doesn't quite get the value I hoped for because it's just too situational or specific.
Sometimes I have fun using the Exhaustion build though
(Lithe, Balanced Landing, Dead Hard, and Vigil)
Keeps me focused on the map and the killer on their toes.
-
All of these strategies can be viable in different circumstances. You could also complete a gen in a strong tile area early on too.
This gives you a place to go later to escape chases that also has a strong looping area to buy as much time as possible, (In case the killer decides to fully commit.)
Killers rarely commit to chasing into the areas where the gens have already been completed. Especially in the late game with 1 or 2 gens left and the pressure is weighing on them.

Everyone likes a party clown... There's a clown AND a party!!

Absolute trash. Another pathetic attempt just to please killers. It won't matter anyway, they are never happy regardless of what changes in their favor

In certain situations, bnps are even better than before.
DH was still too strong after 6.1
Almost all the healthy gen regression perks got nuked in 6.1
Survivors got hud, bt basekit, anti face camp.
So what are you getting at?
What I'm getting at is where does it end!? When will killers be satisfied? Oh that's right, the goal post will keep moving to the next thing like it keeps doing until survivors literally have nothing at all and die within 30 seconds.

I'd argue most of that is less hand holding and more necessary changes. Hand holding implies that BHVR is giving killers changes to things that are already fine just to make killer easier which I feel isnt true for most of these. Bloodlust should lose t2 and t3 though those are def handholding...
So is killer easier now than before update 6.1? Yes, or no.. A lot of people on here and elsewhere online claim that it is.. If your answer is yes.. How exactly is it easier now than it was a year or two ago?
How many nerfs have survivors already received since then? Killers had some nerfs too sure but seems like a lot of killer mains here are forgetting all the nerfs survivors went through and are still going through and it's never enough nerfs apparently..

If you ever played against someone hiding in the bushes in Dead Dawg or just sitting randomly in a corner you know that it is not easy to find hiding survivors when you have no clue where they could be, which is why you patrol objectives because they are usually nearby or not being usefull to the team. However if you have a survivor that just wants to play Blendette and hide in a corner all game long you will never find them, unless you throw the entire game to do nothing else, and even then you might not find them...
That was actually my introduction to playing the killer role. I started playing DbD in custom games with a pair of streamers and their Red/Purple ranked friends and Stealthing was still kind of meta back then.. We were all in a Discord call together too so we could also hear all the taunts and insults to boot.
Did it annoy me sometimes? Absolutely! But it also taught me a lot about map awareness, killer macro, and certain popular hiding spots that good survivors liked to use. Those experiences only made me a better Survivor and Killer in the end.

while I agree this post is definitely killer sided, how do the devs hold the killers hand?
Lets see here just off the top of my head right now..
Bloodlust, Aura/screaming perks to find hidden survivors, nerfing healing and medkits, Anti loop killer powers, more teleporting killers that can travel across the entire map in a second.. Instant down killers.. Killers with built in slow down mechanics.. Reworking of maps to make them smaller with weaker pallets and tiles while also adding larger dead zones...
Update 6.1 in general with the sole goal of inflating kill rates.. Nerfing Prove Thyself, Iron Will, D.S, D.H, and BNP... Probably so much more that I'm forgetting right now too...
There has been a lot of Killer hand holding going on for a while and they still cry and come here to complain that survivors have it so good and every single team they face are just super SWFs so ALL survivors need to be nerfed into oblivion...
Bet money after they get what they want they will turn right around and say something like "Wow this game is just too easy now! Where are all the good survivors at!?! I'm bored, I think I'll just quit playing DbD for good this time!"

Killers will always say gens go too fast. We heard it even during the CoBruption meta when killers could force every game to go 30 minutes to an hour.
'Gen speed' is the popular outcry for two main reasons: it's easier than admitting you aren't there literal best killer in the game, and the devs seem to consistently make the mistake of listening to killers, so everyone is convinced of they ######### loud and often enough that they'll do it again.
First it was 'gen times', which was increased in 6.1 by request.
Then it was 'dead hard and DS' buy too much time. So they were gutted. Dead hard is such a popular excuse this happened twice.
Then it was 'healing is too strong' and thus medkits and circle were deleted.
Then it was 'prove thyself and BNP are OP' until those were deleted too.
Now we're back to generic 'gen times to fast'.
Seeing a pattern? The only thing most killers haven't considered is their own gameplay. Slap on 4 slowdowns, kick every gen, and wander blindly around the map looking for survivors. Then when you finally get a down 3 minutes into the game, but 2 gens have popped, you come over here and scream about gen times because you think it's been 45 seconds.
Literally any excuse to avoid the thought that you could improve your gameplay in any way. And why should you? Just complain on the forums loud enough and you'll probably get the nerfs you want. Those nerfs won't matter, because A) that wasn't the issue the whole time, and B) you'll just continue moving the goal post every time this happens.
This is so well said and on point! Finally someone speaks some truth! Only two things I can think of to add to your comment.
Killers also complained so hard about looping that many killers now have (anti loop powers/add ons) and maps are being reworked with unsafe, completely useless pallets/tiles with large dead zones as well.
They also complained hard about (Stealthing/hiding) too, so now there are a bunch of (aura reading/screaming perks) so that killers can always know where survivors are without having to actually search the map to find them.
Killers on these forums complain about EVERYTHING survivors do! Especially when they happen to finally lose one or two trials out of however many they just won in a row.. It's beyond ridiculous now.

Handholding as in base kit BT, the HUD and the AFC?

I don't think it's a lack of care. Cheaters try to find new ways to cheat. As bhvr closes old methods and ban accounts, they get new accounts (easy with the free accounts from egs) and find a new way to cheat.
Cheaters are always going to come and go in waves.
Nah, that may play a small role but they seriously just don't care enough to issue full hardware/IP address bans
-
BHVR needs to do another massive ban on cheaters. There was a few months of relative peace after the first one. Sadly they don't care until it starts effecting their money..

You didn't know that dbd law states that all killers must have nothing but winning matches simply because they showed up? My guy get with the times
Whoops, sometimes I forget I'm old, Thank you! I also live under a rock and the cell reception is bad. And that's why Made For This should only lose the endurance part of the perk and nothing else if it does receive a nerf!
Am I up to speed now? (Get it!?) ๐
-
If you are a killer main and already win half your trials, or more, what gives you the right to ask for global survivor nerfs or completely removing a good perk? Seems like what you all really want is to win 100% of the time with no counterplay available to your opponents.
A killer winning 50% of their games is PERFECT balance! You win some, you lose some. That's how PvP games work..
-
I miss the anniversary events. Everyone in my lobbies were running 5 cakes every game and I was getting like 120,000 bloodpoints per trial. I just wish they showed what offerings my teammates were bringing in the lobby before the loading screen.
Many times I have been the only one bringing extra BP offerings for everyone and it feels like a bit of a waste. Also on the other hand I feel bad when I bring an offering for only myself and my teammates or the killer bring in cakes or party streamers for everyone.
