Could be Timbuktu "the city of gold" with any killer to be fair. There are pyramids and tribes in Mali. Not all mummys are egyptian nor are moths or nuns or watever.
Mali is the location where the chapter is based rather than the folder location.If you were teasing a new game what kinda hint would something technical like the file names be? Not a very good one.
They would rather tease the location, a character, the atmosphere, the design, or something more meaningful and representive of what is coming.
Their past DLCs have been some weird ass name for the directory and the Devs releasing that name might throw everyone into a loop and get people talking about it... hype hype hype. Mali could the next vacation destination for the office staffer putting the info together.

It will have nothing to do with religion though. Too many people get offended by stuff like that. Spiritual maybe but it won't be something specific about any certain religions. I guess that depends on how edgy the Devs want to be, but I doubt it only because of the number of countries this game is played in.

DS is the new anti tunnel perk.. The devs listened to your prayers and answered them.You can still tunnel them it just got slightly nerfed its not borrowed time or something they are not immune to hits . With new DS changes you can hook survivors whereever you want in exchange which is huge buff for killers its not braindead "just hook to the closest hook " anymore
Slightly is good enough. If they can't run away they can crawl away.

Lol... I love that fix.. you know why?... Cause that would be a complete buff. I love it.
NOED as 5 tokens.... instead of a totem?
So.. Survivor can prevent NOED completely by removing the totems instead of gen rushing... compared too..
5 guaranteed hits for me at the end? Sure.
Generally you only need a couple of hits to get the game over with, I don't know how many killers would be able to use up all 5 tokens at the end.
Not like, you'd be lucky to get 2 down before the totem is destroyed at the end of the match anyways.
I would prefer the 5 hits! This would bring it back to the past version of it being active right at the end.

Best to save up some right now for when they transfer everything to the PTB, if they haven't already.

But you will always be able to check each other steam profiles and this way get to know their names aswell, its embedded in steam....They did remove survivors from seeing who the killer was in the lobby. As killer you can't see who the recent players are either.
-
@Master said:
So lets only talk about dodging SWF now.
Your suggestion to remove the names would also disable the killer from dodging known "toxic" survivors or streamers (like I do e.g.). However if they are not able to dodge them in lobby, they will simply DC ingame because you cant force them to play vs them. I doubt that this is a good solution tbh.I could see that, but that would be up to the Devs. Since in a way this is no different then having a blocking feature, just manual and per person.
They could also remove names from the match, and just put symbols or whatever as identifiers players can use to remember who is who. Then increase DC punishments.
@Master said:
And there is a difference between enabling a SWF-filter mechanic that enables the killer to only search for solo survivors or making them go thruogh the effort of manually lobby dodging them.Of course there is a difference. One being an acknowledgment from the Devs that they feel it is ok to match make based on that information, and the other is not.
What we have now is a "if we don't acknowledge it, then we don't need to address it" type of system.
Since there are people complaining about balancing SWF in the matches, don't prevent people from dodging SWF as a specific reason, but don't acknowledge either so it doesn't need to be addressed. Then people can freely do as they wish. However, what happens once the devs get killers and solo survivors to where they want them?
-
@Kaelum said:
Again, that specific question has been asked, and answered, several times in the dev streams, Why do you think that the killer is allowed to see what each survivor is bringing into that match?I'm not talking about their items. There is many things being shown in the lobby.. but...
Other then looking at a public profile, can you determine who is SWF in the lobby? This information isn't directly supplied by the Developers, except through some quasi method of looking up a players public profile.
So... If the Developers want killers to use SWF as an indicator for dodging a lobby. Then, why not provide a SWF flag in the lobby?
Because I would like it. I'm certain there are many many others that would. So lets get the developers to answer this question.
"Do the Developers believe that dodging a lobby is ok WHEN the killer determined that a SWF is in the lobby, and if it is ok if SWF is the ONLY reason. No other reason. The only single reason for dodging that lobby is because of SWF, that is it."
Cause if it is YES, then we all need to be asking for that indicator. If it is NO, then they need to remove Profiles and Names from the lobbies.
And I don't think that specific question has been asked sorry. They've answered more generalized questions about dodging not if it is SPECIFICALLY ok to use SWF as a reason, otherwise I need to see it.
-
@Master said:
Its totally ok to dodge lobbies, the devs dont bann for it. And it doesnt matter whether you it once per day to dodge a certain guy, whether you dodge every SWF or whether you dodge 100 lobbies in a row just becuase you feel like itI don't care if they don't ban for it.
I'm curious though if the Devs actually want killers to dodge lobbies based on the survivors being SWF. The Devs provide a clear picture of who is in the lobby and what items, but no clear picture of determining if the survivors are SWF. You can look at profiles, if they aren't private.
Access to profiles can be given at the end of the match, in the summary. Is it really needed in the initial lobby?
You can make your profile private, but then some killers will dodge if everyone has a private profile in their lobby. So why not just remove that whole criteria in the first place.
It isn't about stopping lobby dodging but minimizing it, by not providing criteria that the developers don't intend you to use as a reason to dodge.
** This is all based on if they don't want you to use SWF as a reason, since their actions so far show that they don't. IMO Cause if they did want killers to dodge based on that info, then it should be provided.

@Rebel_Raven said:
We need to nail down why people dodge.Well this is what we agree on, and that is why we should be asking the right questions to BHVR.
Will the devs know that there's people looking to obviously bully me, or gen rush me when I dodge and they start handing out punishment?
Not likely.Correct!... Not likely. There is no way for BHVR to know the true reason why you would dodge a lobby.
So with that said. Do the developers believe, if the killer determines that a SWF group is in their lobby, that this and ONLY this is valid reason to dodge?
If the answer is NO. Then if removing the profile lookup and names from the lobby fixes this, do you think the Devs might do this when dedicated servers come out?
So right now... Lets separate what we are considering reasons.
Dodging for SWF in lobby...
Dodging for certain items in the lobby...
Dodging for bad ping in the lobby...
Dodging for certain characters in the lobby...
Dodging for certain players in the lobby... (i.e. certain streamers)
Then dodging for anything else... (Whatever other reason no listed above)I'm only talking about 2 major issues that I see when dodging...
Dodging for certain players... i.e... seeing a certain streamer player you don't like playing against.
Dodging for SWF... If the only reason for dodging is SWF.The other ones I feel are valid.. And what is probably referred to when the Devs say it is ok. (my assumption)
Nailing down what the Devs want the killers to use as valid information for dodging a lobby is important if the discussion is to continue.

@Kaelum said:
Ummmm....have you ever even watched a dev stream? They want both killers and survivors to dodge lobbies for whatever reason they want. It is encouraged! They won’t be banning anyone for dodging lobbies, but they do want to know why people dodge. They do however ban for DCing after the lobby counter has reached 0, and switched to the offerings pages.@TheBean this goes for your comments as well.
I do... I have also heard they want to move along the lines of buffing killers to SWF and solo survivor to SWF.
Well they allow lobby dodging, and they always will, since you should be able to leave a lobby. However, from some responses I've seen on a few posts by mods, I get the impression the main reason for allowing it.. is because of PINGs. So players can dodge based on pings.
Also... Them allowing to dodge based on items or character... I don't care and that isn't what the current dodging seems to be about. It is to some.. but not all, since there is several reasons as to why.
Then based on the idea, that the Devs are buffing killers to SWF and solo to SWF...
The question I would like to see clarified is... "Do the Developers believe that dodging a lobby is ok when the killer determined that there is a SWF in the lobby, and if it is ok when SWF is the ONLY reason.
And lets stop pretending the DC punishment is actual punishment... Not the temp ban or ban in general.. .But the losing of pips when you DC.
So I ask you...
When the developer determines "why" people dodge and if the developer realizes that the major cause is SWF... What do you think is going to happen?
-
@Rebel_Raven said:
Pretty sure the Devs said dodging is ok.True... but... However, I believe there is a limit to what can be considered ok.
Maybe we should be asking BHVR a couple simple questions...
"Does BHVR condone killer players dodging a lobby when that player determines, specifically, that there is a SWF group in the lobby?"
"What information does the Developer actually believe the Killers should use, when determining, if they want to accept the lobby?"
Rather then trying to debate little issues of if something might happen or not... Maybe we need to nail down what the developers actually want Killers to see when determining if they accept the match or not.
Is there a Dev out there that wants to clear this up?
-
@Rebel_Raven said:
The idea of getting away with forcing killers to play against groups they don't want to is foolish at best.Too many people would rather stomp killers instead of seeing the game balanced.
Nah.. it isn't getting away with forcing killers to do anything. Nothing is forcing a player to play the game.
The issue comes down to how the Developers are going about their "vision" for their game. I don't get the impression the Devs want to treat SWF any different than they are now. I get the impression they are buffing killers to SWF, since they have mentioned this in past streams.
So with that vision idea in mind, ask yourself...
How could the Developer have a lobby system that allows players to filter or exclude SWF groups from their lobby, when it isn't the Developers intentions of allowing players to dodge those groups? How much longer do players think this will continue?
-
@MhhBurgers said:
They can't even crack down on current DCers and you think they'll crack down on lobbydodgers, that's cute. The game has a relatively small playerbase, a BIG part of this playerbase is either dodging or DCing, the devs know full well that they'd kill their game in the same way as removing SWF would kill it.I think with dedicated servers they can "crack" down more on certain things. One being the dodging, for the simple fact the devs will have control on the pings for the lobby. This throws out one of the biggest reasons for allowing killers to dodge the lobbies currently.
Allowing them to see the type of survivor character... items and so on... that might stay until the Devs need to draw a line in the sand.
The big test will be once the new MM comes into play and killers will have an even harder time seeing who SWFs are.
He is what I predict will happen... When the dedicated servers come into play...
Killers will join a lobby just like survivors... They can come and go from the lobby as they please, like a survivor does now.
Killers will only see the character and the items they are carrying. No more profiles. No more being able to see who is friends with who. This will happen to prevent dodging based on SWFs.Then the devs will see how the lobby dodging goes for killers... If they keep bailing out of a lobby because of the items they see.. or the characters they see.. then killers will stop seeing those.
The only thing killers need to see so they can choose their load out is the items.. and maybe who the characters are... but nothing more. I don't think dodging will be an issue at this point. Once you remove the ability for killers to tell who is SWF or not, that will stop a big part of the dodging.
Those that don't like it, either will adapt, or stop playing. They can stop playing.. since once dedicated servers come out.. There is going to be an explosion in the playerbase, and all those whiners can get lost or grow up and get better.
This is all just my opinion though.

@MhhBurgers said:
Disconnect penalties are already in place and we know that we can disconnect every fourth game. Also dedicated servers won't hide the survivor's loadout, dodging will NEVER be penalized because that would outright kill the game.The current disconnect "penalties" isn't punishment but a reward. Players get rewarded for disconnecting. Lets get that right.
I enjoy killers dodging and the posts that keep coming out from it.
I feel one of the biggest reasons why the Devs haven't dealt with dodging is because of the P2P system and killers being able to choose based on PINGs... but that is about it.
Once dedicated servers come out, they won't really be able to allow killers to use this as an excuse for viewing those in your lobby.
I can't wait till when the Devs crack down on it.

But I can’t help but worry that while everything sounds good on paper, in reality it’s going to be hell for killers and just destroy the endgame.I would not be surprised if sweat with friends decide to do a Bt/ds/adrenaline/hope or no one left behind or deliverance build with toolboxes to rush and just get out of jail free because the killer literally can’t touch them.
Could be possible. End game might be sucky sometimes.. but What if the killer had Rancor, Enduring and Blood Warden?
@pemberley said:
I am also concerned about killer obsession perks being neutered. It’s not fair you can put a lot of work into your obsession perk only for survivors to go “psych!” and all that work went down the drain.How so?... The only one were it could be bad is Dying Light, I don't see the other ones being so "neutered".
@pemberley said:
Ds should not be able to work once the exit gates are up. Obsession switching either should be nixed or killer perks like Dying Light need to be exponentially more powerful the more obsessions are in play. And I still think killers should get a visual notification when ds is in play so there’s less mind gymnastics for killers who are already under pressure to find survivors and stop gens from booting up.Def gonna be an interesting PTB this time around.

You seriously believe the devs are gonna let you rancor kill more than one guy??? Lmao. I don't think you typed your post with a straight face.What are you saying.. It says so in their QA... This is what I can't wait for....
10 One gen left....
20 Find and hook the obsession...
30 Last gen pops...
40 Killer returns to hook to secure kill...
50 Teammate rescues hooked survivor...
60 Killer hits down rescuer during unhooking process...
70 Killer chases unhooked obsession, gets rancored.
80 Killer returns, picks up rescuer and hooks them.
90 GOTO 40 REPEAT UNTIL ALL SURVIVORS DEADEnd of match.
Screw your BT.
-
Yee... Can't wait for all the killers running Rancor and Enduring.
-
Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet in your post, I didn't read them all.
Enduring right now isn't working correctly on DS. At tier 3, enduring is only effecting DS by 55%.. Not 75%.
Not sure if that is a bug or intended, and not sure if that will be fixed when the new DS goes live.
-
I bet you'll see more killers running Rancor and Enduring now.
-
@Master said:
The problem is even if you manage to trigger dying light, once you are hit by a DS, all your work is gone and the debuff is gone while the new obession even gets the altruism buff on top of thatYee.. but that will come down to managing the DS in the match at that point, which I believe should be possible. We'll have to see how hard that will be to do once it goes live.
-
Ok Rancor Nerf???? What am I seeing?
Hmmm.....
I don't see the possibility of being able to rancor more then one survivor at the end of the match as a bad thing.
Those that get 4 man SWFs all running DS.... Getting hook swarmed at the end?... Might cost that group a few survivors in the end.
Might be interesting to see how it plays out.
-
Yee.. A perk barely ever used.. I think I see it maybe once in about 50 matches as survivor... MAYBE.
So instead off hunting for the obsession in the start, you can hunt a rando and have a chance to turn them into the obsession and kick of dying light.
You can always kick off dying light, then slug a survivor after being unhooked to kill of the DS timer and prevent the obsession from changing. At that point... You killed one survivor... One hooked... One going for rescue and you got one working on a gen with dying light... So how much time do you think you can waste by slugging the unhooked for a minute?
I don't know what the big deal is... You have a perk that requires you to camp and tunnel the obsession ,if you are lucky to find them near the start of the match.... To a new perk that allows you to find any survivor, hope they have DS and trigger the dying light earlier... But both are ######### anyways... So what is the problem?
You just have to manage the obsession changing after you trigger dying light... big deal.
Dying Light has always been crappy and barely used.. So I don't see it being any different from it is now.
I'll take this "nerf" as you call it if it means we keep Rancor as it will be now.
-
DS just turned into an anti-tunneling perk.... your prayers have been answered.
-
@Poweas said:
Er 75% of 3 is 0.75. I rest my case. When it was 4 seconds it was different but now enduring hard counters it.Except Enduring doesn't effect DS at 75% at tier 3. It is either a bug or put in on purpose, but it only effects DS by 55%.
Not sure if they are correcting this when they update to the new DS.
-
@DarkGGhost said:
The new DS have no counter play ,Yeah it does... You return to the hook... Hit down the unhooked and slug them for a minute while you chase the other person. If they have BT then who cares. Two people not on gens... Maybe 3 if someone comes to heal up the slugged.
It shouldn't ever be an issue really unless you tunneled and camped.... Which you can still do, but you just need to tunnel a bit differently.
-
I like you idea... but I think it should be a bit different. This idea could actually help with a few other issues the game has. One in particular, the grind.
With your idea, what if...
Remove all the tiers in perks, remove all tier 2 abilities. Make all perks for survivor tier one only. Then each perk has a tier 2, (the old tier 3), which can only be activate when carrying a lantern. (obviously some perks might need to be adjusted a bit to make this work, but you get the idea.)
Now the grind is only for 1 perk per level, and not having to grind out to three tiers of each perk.
Keep the default of only 2 lanterns per match, unless offerings are put out on either side to remove or add one more lantern.
Then for a survivor to "soup" up their perks, they need to get and carry a lantern in the match. Which shows the killer they are souping up their perks and makes them a target. When hooking that survivor, the lantern returns to its stand. The killer has the option to go and destroy it... Or not.
The killer doesn't have to destroy the lantern, cause the effect is the survivors can only bring up their perks to the highest level of the perk. Which is no different then that survivor taking all tier 3 perks now.
Add in a point bonus for the survivor carrying the lantern.
Add in a point bonus for the killer destroying the lantern.Now for killers what do you do?... How do they get some bonus on their perks?... They don't need one, just make the perks only one tier and either use the tier 3 version or tier 2 version.
That way there is a secondary objective for both sides... More so for survivors to waste time looking for lanterns. Also it removes the grind in the game... or at least lowers it enough to make it easier for new people to get in.
-
There is no unwritten rules to DBD. Only those that you've made up for yourself.
You don't play their rules.
-
I see some issues with a couple of the posts made in here about bad match making.. but the OP image about bad MM?... Serious?.... hasn't played in a bit maybe????.. got reset down?... Can't handle playing against people who they should probably be facing?...
They seldom play killer? But has done so. Then they play survivor then dump points in their killers? I do that.
However... If I was rank 17 an had those perks.. play killer seldom.. I probably wouldn't complain about bad MM in this case.
I find it funny when you have players who've played 100s of hours on one side.. then play the other.. and act as though they are new players. They aren't new players. Rank isn't that big of a deal when you aren't new.. playing as rank 20 against rank 1s when you have over 1000s, shouldn't be an issue.
Rank just means you've got some game knowledge to play better against the other side. Your friend earned that knowledge by playing survivor and now just needs to apply it to killer... So they aren't a new player.
They didn't unpackage their game.. play for 10 hours.. Then get matched that way.
-
Just depends on how you feel about it I guess. I personally don't think I'm a good player so I don't care if my P3 Bubba gets rekt'd.
Only thing that gets in the way for most players is their ego.
-
Showing who is SWF at the end summary would be nice... not in the initial lobby though... It isn't needed there.
-
OP asks for official response... MOD comes out and states a response... They are working on behalf of BHVR and can't release false information about the game...
OP doesn't accept this as an official response... So needs to waste more time for people about an issue that was addressed over 2 years ago.
Please go play another game if that is what you are looking for... You basically laid that all out as... If I don't hear what I want, then I'll play another game until I can play. So please play another game, cause your question was answered years ago.
Nobody is stopping you from playing other then yourself. If you can't handle this game, it is ok. It isn't meant for everyone. Just like myself... I used to enjoy first person shooters when I was younger... so thought I would like games like H1Z1 and PUBG... stuff like that.. but I don't anymore, they are way too tough for me now, so I don't play them.

Another SWF post.... You pretty much summed up all the other posts before you.. No offense this has all been said.
@Daneryn said:
You cant even seperate the two modes, so that players can queue for a solo only mode because premades will suffer with a lack of people willing to play killer, and again I am not for removing SWF. I'm simply highlighting how it fundamentally seems to clash with gameplay.I was thinking though... They could actually pull this off now. Maybe not at this instance, but when Dedicated Servers come in.
Bascially... Leave the core of the game the way it is now. Add in the Ladder system the Devs mentioned awhile back. However, make it a seperate queue, solo only, and anonymous (meaning people can't see who or what is in their lobbies, in order to dodge).... Basically make it so you get big penalties if you dodge a ladder lobby.
There done... You get a Ladder Try Hard Queue for solo players... One that survivors can't dodge because they can't see if their friends are in the lobby or not. One that killers can't dodge cause they can't see anyone in the lobby but four anonymous survivors. They can try hard and compare all their stats together...
Then the casuals can stay in the current system which stays as is, other then the current buffing / nerfing actions that already happen.
Barely any changes to the system as is... They are adding in dedicated servers anyways.. with the talk of ladders... Just make it so you can't play SWF in the ladders and people who want to play regular games still can, and those who want to pit their skill on the ladder have a good / fair solo queue to do so.
-
Better get used to that.. and it doesn't just happen when they lose. You get salty ass people even when they win.
If it bothers you much, you are best to turn off the end game chat, or start enjoying it as victory. The more salt you can generate the better your victory.
-
Using Billy with Thompson's Moonshine and hitting a survivor with a 30+ second chainsaw while looping around the map.
-
Nah because this is a casual game. What they should do is when the dedicated servers come in, is setup a try hard queue for a ladder, solo only, no way to dodge lobbies. Then the try hards can play in there on the ladder while casuals slug it out on the normal rank system.
-
Some will.. or they will adapt and suck it up. I hope they keep dodging.. cause I see only one outcome from it. The Devs will have to crack down on dodging and make it so you can't see anyone in your lobby other then 4 random people.. You won't see their profile.. names... ranks... levels.... clothing... items...
-
drunk and high.. best way to play it

Yeah I would get LF for BBQ.. good perk to have for grinding.
