  • Seems ok... It is because everyone connects and says.. "hey... I'm looking for a lobby!"...

MM goes.. ok sit in this waiting list... Then at a timed interval... it pulls out a "bucket" of killers and survivors... Then takes those 2 buckets and swishes around the contents until you get what you have above... Most games matched up correctly with a group of lobbies looking like the ######### show above.

    ---

So... if your waiting list contains a massive amount of people waiting to be matched and you only take out a small percentage of them to match up... and you keep repeating it... How can you match up say a red rank player, if the bucket only had a few of them in there.. but the next bucket pull could have mostly red ranks in it...

The buckets are just a mix bag of players who near the same moment of time, clicked ready. So you only get paired with people who basically are clicking ready around the time you are.

Every lobby gets 1 killer... 4 survivors... They probably made the buckets a ratio of 4 to 1... so every lobby is built and there is no throw-a-ways. But not sure how the holes get filed...

I'm only guessing.. I like to guess about this stuff.. when I read the new MM description and see the matches, including myself, are paired up in... this is the conclusion I draw so I don't get annoyed by how dumb their MM is.

I understand why they can make certain decisions.. I think a bunch of it is related to making MM seamless when dedicated servers come in.

If there buckets were based on the colour ranks instead of just whoever came in first you'd see different pairing.. so this makes me think it just grabs whoever is waiting the longest and tosses them together in one salad bowl.. then empties the bowl and refills and repeats.

  • I don't know what you mean by campers and tunnelers getting into the high ranks. The emblem system isn't rewarding for that playstyle. Not saying it can't be done.. but those campers need to proximity properly and then tunnel properly.

The killer HAS to hook 9 times in the red ranks.. and I believe it will require at least 2 people dying during those hookings.

However.... The killers can farm those ranks better knowing that survivors have to make those unhooking or they won't rank up. So killers need to use the ranking system against the survivors.

Anyone sitting in the high ranks wants to rank up, cause anyone not interested will be in the lower ranks. So you know survivors and killers alike have to play certain ways so you'll have to use that to your advantage.

Red ranks are gonna be a ######### show of farming styles.... Killer makes a hook.. ok survivors go make your save.. I know you aren't going to rush me or you lose... Oh.. found someone coming for the save, I'll get them... then both side play this sorta quasi friendly style until the end of the match.

DCing is an issue. People rage quit on me all the time. Doesn't really bother me because the survivors are just screwing each other over, not me lol. Rage quitters is an issue that plague most games and most games don't do anything about it.

Punishing DCers is kind of a sensitive thing. People have computer issues, internet issues, real life issues (this is a VIDEO GAME) etc. So how can you justify punishing someone because their kid was crying or something? It needs to be light enough so it's not really that big of a deal but harsh enough to punish people that repetitively do it.

Honestly, out of all the games I've played, I think HoTS had the best punishment for disconnecters. Just make it so if youDC, you can only reconnect back to the trial you quit from (and leave your character in the game instead of dying).

Actually it will effect you as a killer the higher rank you go.

The earlier the survivor DCs the more emblem points you lose out on. One DC early in the match basically means you won't white pip.

A killer not doing anything.. can cause all the survivors to de-pip.

Any SWF group that wants to screw the killer out of a pip can just DC and they will de-pip them most likely.

  • Well tbh the ranking system will make the games a bit more easier for players to a certain extent.

I'm more interested in seeing how a DC affects the match in a purple or red rank match. Even though people like to say their rank doesn't matter. However once you start losing pips for pointless BS it will matter more and more. Also... The Devs are making matter, since the harder system places more meaning on your rank.

When I say it will make it easier to a certain extent I mean... Survivors and killers in the higher ranks are required to perform in certain ways to generate emblem points for each other. Survivors need saves... Killers need survivors to make those saves... This part hear is where those campers and tunnelers lives get easier. You both need something.. so work together to get it.

You know the survivors need those saves... so just wait back 16m till they come in to do it... no bother hunting anymore. Those survivors gen rush you in the higher ranks, they all lost.

  • DC are automatically tracked by the system and if they exceed a certain threshold of disconnects to played matches... they get a ban for it. But it is a progressive ban system.. 24hrs... then more and more till perma. I've heard this is checked weekly... might be daily... but when it first started it seemed like it was monthly.

You don't need to report people who DCs.

DCs have to be dealt with better now with the new emblem system changes. With people DCing they are gonna make it extremely tough for anyone to rank up in the red ranks.

  • At least we know why there is a PTB now.

Since this is something we can't test and have to rely on their internal testing...

We can now see why we have a PTB, since we have to do the bug squashing for them.

Getting your playerbase to test for free is a great thing.

  • Wowzers another bug.. so.. what was the point of PTB?

  • oh ABHOR those changes.. ok.. I thought they liked it.

  • Ah well. Deal with it. Sometimes it isn't JUST about you.

  • Nah this ######### gonna be funny to do in the purple ranks....

Get to rank 5... rank 4.. then when you start the match...

    Do nothing... Make everyone de-pip.

Survivors don't play your way as killer.. just stop running.. stand still... done... Make them lose without doing anything.

  • Ooof... I bet there be a flurry of meetings at BHVR over this one.... Who screwed up!

  • It coming out now... waiting for everything to sync up.

  • One other thing with the PTB is it probably helps with monetary loses in terms of refunds.

People get to playtest the new killer... buy if they want... Then there will be less chance of that person wanting a refund for it.

They come out with a new killer and have to pull it because of game breaking bugs... that could cause a wave of refund requests... that the Devs might feel obligated to refund since they pulled the product.

I bet during the Freddy fiasco this might have happened.

    Just an idea.

But yeah... it is like a two week tease that lessens the hype for it.

  • Might be worth it though... Especially if the newer emblem changes come in.

If you didn't do well as killer and didn't get into many chases or hookings... Those survivors run the risk of de-pipping.

So they are gonna come up for more emblem points... Why not?.. They gonna de-pip either way.. might aswell try for it.

  • Be lucky they can't add smell to it aswell.

you did notice that they heavily nerfed 3 out of the 4 available killer emblems, right?

and yes, i only use the perk, since i get ~60k points with it in a round. billy is the only killer that i can actually get a use out of the aura aspect.

You know what the emblems represent?

They represent how BHVR feels you should be playing. It is a reflection of the playstyle they want to encourage. It isn't a measure of your "skill" per say as more of a measure of how you play against the otherside in what the Devs consider "a more fun way".

Since BBQ was made as an anti-camping perk, which it really isn't anymore... Killers take it for the BP portion.. Like you mentioned. Survivors take WGLF since it is only for BP... Both wasted perk slots.

So why not make the BP bonus passive for all players, so they don't need to waste a perk slot for extra points.

Then base the "4 token" system to the emblems... Play the way BHVR wants... get extra points. This is what encourages better playstyles.. bloodpoints... This is being proven time and time again. They nerf BP for certain actions... people respond.

People who don't camp still take BBQ so why not allow them a better perk since they are playing the way the Devs want anyways.

Then BHVR can actually make BBQ the anti camping perk, but without any BP bonus.

What you call nerf to emblems is what the Devs call... We want you to play this way. So it isn't a nerf or a buff.

  • Just move 16m away.. you can still camp. after 16m you won't lose emblem points.. if you see a survivor near the hook.. you can get near again, as you won't lose emblem points if there is a survivor near the hook aswell.

  • Why not remove the BP portion and just make that passive and based off how well you do on the emblems... the better you do.. the better the multiplier. Modify the ranges back to way it was.

Then we can see a drop in BBQ usage based on what you say.

Why make it more of a "take-able"???.. The idea would be to have less people using it.

  • Yeah based on the description on how they are performing match making it makes sense. They kind of generalize the description.

But they probably can tweak it quite a bit.... people gonna have to give it some time for it optimize itself.

  • It hasn't been released yet... so not sure why you are getting tired... no one has it.

  • They should make that lower.. maybe only 2.5K. It would still be the highest point score you can get for a single action.

Then increase the amount of points you earn during the match instead.

IMO. They can just add in a few other actions in the game to help with the survival category.. or just get rid of it entirely and make the points a bonus for getting out. The only other thing that adds onto survival is the self-heal. (if i'm not mistaken.)

  • Gotta keep looking for the Survivor echo chamber I guess.

Yeah that I is what I figured so I posted it in the off topic.. was more an animation style of question.

I just figured if you had everyone moving at the same rate of speed in game, you'd make the animation length the same for all the characters.. then model their movement within that time frame.

So was hoping more to mess with people.. make them wonder the same thing... :)

I always figured though they used the same sort of skeleton for all the survivors to keep things simpler, rather than a different one for women and men.

"This killer is a ######### piece of #########!"

    "Hmm, I see..."

for me.... I don't care. I stopped being self-conscious about how I play and could care less if they call me names. Sometimes when I play I'm calling others names... so I don't blame them if they call me names and it is recorded.

Allot of times though I can see where I went wrong and maybe think of better ways on how to do something next time.

Plus... if they were really salty... I enjoy it when they get all mad during the match calling me names... cause then it makes me feel like I did good :)

  • I like playing streamers cause if they are live you can go back and watch the match and see where you made mistakes and maybe get better from it. I use their remarks to help me rather then piss me off.

  • Someone calls ya ugly and it is time to be banned.....

    OK.

So do you call the cops on someone who yells down the street at you that you need a leash cause you so dam ugly?

Idk.... It isn't a death threat.... it isn't racist... You got called a name....

I can see if they sat their and spammed it over and over.. but you need to grow up and accept if you are going to put yourself out there in the public, the public might poke at you with a stick.

Don't stream if you don't want people to poke at your physical appearance... also if someone says something that gets you super personally offended, then do something about it and fix it.

  • I dont understand this post.... you are acting like you just took the wrap off the game and started playing.

Have you been living under a rock?... You know what the issues are with the ranking system... so I don't get the point of this post.

Are you new?... Cause this post smacks of someone who hasn't played before.

Maybe stop complaining... since you already know there is a new update with emblem changes coming out. I don't get why you need to make posts complaining all the time about people... just play the game.

I guess you need your strokes for the day.

Both can have great influence over a game. Why should one be nerfed and the other exists, while becoming easier to pull off now?

Dont get caught? lol. Are you really going to argue against how OP ebony moris are? Come on

    Cause the two aren't related.

I played when you didn't have that requirement. I don't see them very often.

Don't get caught... I've been in plenty of matches where all the survivors made it out and there as a ebony... and I've died to a mori... Don't get caught.

I have no issues with them, when, we as survivors, can pound out gens super fast and get out.

Just because DS got nerfed doesn't mean the Devs have to run out and nerf moris. Seems silly to think that you'd rip apart the entire game when trying to balance things together.

Who is to say they won't be nerf'd in the future. But you don't go making willy nilly changes as a tit-4-tat situation when it comes to a nerf since nerfing too much at once could throw even more things out of balance.

Cause once you look at moris.. then why not needles?.. or septic agents?... etc, etc.. Cause you want to nerf one thing doesn't mean everything needs to be nerfed aswell.. at least all once.

  • @Karl_Childers said:

It is definitely ridiculous that DS is nerfed and this stays as is. It should definitely just be final hook, or if it stays available after being hooked once, then they need to add a way the survivor can possibly fight it off. It is completely unfair otherwise. So give the survivor a chance after first hook, whether it be a skill check or whatever, but on final hook it’s automatic.

The two aren't related. Just cause there is a nerf to one perk on one side of the game... doesn't mean it is a tit-4-tat situation. You fight it off by not getting caught.... twice.

  • Nah... They could put it back to like it was before where you didn't have to hook them at all.

If you hold someone hostage, thats bannable no matter whether you are stream sniping or not.

THe devs have been pretty clear that stream sniping is not bannable

ok... thanks for that added 2 cents. Don't understand why you needed to quote me in your response to the op.

  • The issue of screen sniping comes when someone uses it to grief the streamer.

If the streamer is going to stream their matches they have to accept some responsibility for streaming their match. If they don't like being stream sniped, then they shouldn't stream their matches then... or use some methods to make sniping more difficult.

And using their stream to locate where they are.. isn't griefing.. that is tough luck for that streamer. But if I use it to run you around in a match as a survivor for 30 minutes and hold you hostage in your match because of it.. then that is an issue.

  • @Entità

Eh.. don't matter to me personally. It would be an issue if the Devs announced rank rewards with the update. But since there is no rewards, it shouldn't be an issue. It will be less impact on the community to allow them to rank up on the old system to pepper out the match making when they do the update. Then announce any rank rewards on the next update, if they are going to do so.

The killers don't have to get used to the new emblems. The emblems are a reflection of how the Devs want you to play. When the emblems first came out, majority of the killers already play that way, so the impact on them wasn't as harsh as survivors. Plus the 1 to 4 ratio.. so the emblems as a whole won't impact them, as much, since they already play the style the devs want.

Only the killers who can't run the playstyle... Find one survivor, hook them, find another, then hook them, find another, then hook them, and keep going until all hooked 3 times to death will have an issue.

  • I think they will do it after the reset cause it will allow players to place themselves throughout the ranking first. It will lessen the blow on match making if there is an issue of one side not ranking up quick enough.

The last time when they first put in the emblems, just before the reset, it took awhile for survivors to get used to it and killers got ahead in the ranking too fast.

  • @Entità

Gonna write a novel.. but I will keep it simple. You can farm people still, get the emblem and blood points. I just need to take in BT to help me with it. The killer has their requirements aswell inorder not to lose emblem points, so that makes it even easier, since they will have to follow those rules to rank up.

Since you pipping is more dependent on the team as a whole, it will be easier for me as a survivor to depip you, as a survivor.

I'm up to see how things go though.. why not see that system in action in the live system. Never hurts to give it a shot. Except they need to make sure it works correctly on this first go.. seems pretty crappy to put in these changes and have it bugged.

  • Yeah can't wait till the new obsession changes come in.. then you'll have a chance to mori more then one in the match if they got DS at the end.

    Sweet.

  • I'm open to see how these changes go through to be honest. I don't think it will pan out the way people want but who knows till we see it live.

But... if you think it will be less toxic... haha.. I'd be surprised by that one. Wait till you get someone in a survivor group that makes a mistake and causes their team to all depip. Especially if they were a solo player.

Also wait till red rank survivor resort to farming their teammates so they can get the emblem points. Since there really will be only enough emblem points for 1 survivor to white pip, and that will contingent on the killer performing well.

Everything could pan out well though.. good mixture of matches... mostly all billies and nurses though, since any other killer will give up too much in the beginning. Every survivor for themselves, can't really play as a team per say, since them being alive means less emblem points for you.

That last comment though about hoping for less idiots... hehe... Yeah they will all be piled up around rank 5 and 4.. then you will be paired up with them throughout the red ranks until you fight to rank 1.... and you'll still be paired up with them.

Also if they put in rewards with a tough ranking system, it will just lead to people "playing" in certain ways so everyone can get the reward. People have a tendency to "game" the system when it is stacked up against them.

  • Yeee.. also why should survivors be punished if you are unable to even make that hook.

Step 1: Hook survivor.. Run away far from hook...

Step 2: Allow to survivor to be unhooked... Maybe go back if you didn't find a new target.

Step 3: Hook another survivor, hopefully different one.

Goto back to step 1, until all survivors are dead with 3 hooks each.

This is the simple vanilla style you need to play if you want to reach rank 1. They give a bit of wiggle room but not much.

You will only rank up for perfect matches on either side. (I think chaser is bugged for plague atm though).

  • @Dragonredking said:

From what I saw so far the fact that a killer pip or not is entierly in the survivor hand with the new system.

You can literaly prevent a killer from piping by not going for save or by dcing.

Which goes for survivors too.. if the killer blows the match and doesn't hook many if any... or can't find survivors... None of the survivors will white pip.. they'll probably depip.

  • 3 kills is barely a black pip now? what?! xD Why am I getting punished if survivors don't rescue each other more often?

    But you will be...

They mention.. for red ranks.. you need 10 hooks... how do you think you are going those hooks? You won't get much for only 4 hooks that end up killing all the survivors.

  • You don't need all the cosmetics... If you can afford it.. on a 20 dollar game.. go nuts.

I don't think you could get all the cosmetics anyways... there some you can no longer get.. so you lost out already... so why bother.

  • @Condorloco_26 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/354576#Comment_354576

Yeah. At this point just get rid of ranks and design a new matchmaking system around hours logged into each role. I'm sure those stats are available to them.

It doesn't need to be based on hours, since you can menu sit and rack up hours.

They can base it off of account progression, which is basically, how many perks and what levels are they? Since the whole grind is based on perks, people can have minimum ranks based on their overall account progression.

  • Nah.. Prob not... At least nothing good.

Problem is as I see it... Once you offer good rewards and put in a hard ranking system... People get together to game the system.

Maybe they'll come out with rewards with the release of these changes... and you'll see new unwritten rules made for red ranks.. play in a certain way.. and everyone wins.

  • Did you make an report through the end game summary screen aswell.

Every report is REQUIRED to have the report made through the end game screen.

Then you use their support site to provide additional information, such as a video.

They need the end game report to prove you were in that match with that person. Without it, you might aswell forget it, since they explicitly state every report requires it.

  • Didn't read the purposed emblem changes?.... They gonna push the gen rushers to the lower ranks and keep the high ranks free from them. :) gl.

  • They did open their eyes though.. Don't you see it?.... They aren't looking though, through your eyes.

They are changing the emblem system to penalize players for being to efficient. Only in the high ranks, since this is really where the gen rush hurts the most.

Killers kill to fast, they depip.

Survivors gen rush and don't interact with the killer, they all depip.

Which is great now, cause you can take in a slow or non meta killer and the survivors are forced to give you hooks and chases or they lose pips. So you can now take the hag and do circles in the map.. and make the survivors eventually come to you or they lose.

  • yee there is lots of discussions about it.. also check out the PTB Feedback forum.
