New Garunteed Escapes End Game Meta Incoming

A lot of people are getting distracted by the massive nerf to Dying Light, but that lesser used perk is going to be quickly overshadowed by the incredibly common event of having a survivor hooked when exit gates are open. Borrowed Time used to let the unhooked escape in exchange for the unhooker, but now they just need to turn around and unhook the previous rescuer and the new Decisive Strike garuntees escapes as long as you can hit the skill check. If survivors run meta perks, there's now nothing killers can do to secure end game kills.

Edit: In case anybody didn't read up on it. The new DS skill check starts upon killer starting the pickup animation, so there's no longer a way to dribble or get to a hook before getting stunned.

You will need to rek them before they manage to do all gens.
IF they finish 5 gens, then your only chance is slugging, but that got nerfed so hard recently that its pretty much impossible.

oh and dont forget, you need to hit a skillcheck, so it rewards skill and it only happens once, so its still balanced :sarcastic:

BT was doing pretty much the same, it's just now less riskier for the unhooker because they don't need to go into the danger zone. Because if you give a swarming SWF group BT they will get that 4 man escape no matter what. The only exception is rev chainsaw Billy/Bubba or nurse.

Also, endgame is something the devs are targeting, let's hope the rework will help for that issue

Yeah anyone hooked gets to crawl out or d-strike then run out.

They need an entity blocker on the gates for anyone who uses a DS for 30-60 seconds.

Dying Light will need changes for this, yeah. Otherwise the change is good. Killers will just have to adapt and learn strategies to counter it.

You say that but how many threads do you see here about Camping and Tunneling. So many killers do it right or wrong. So many killers will now have to adapt their play style. Wait a week or two when this goes live and you will see a bunch of threads complaining how much worse the new ds is.

Don't worry, you can always fire up Insidious to beat Borrowed Time, and maybe Enduring can help against Decisive Strike. Just don't be too close to the gates, watch out for body blocks, and you're golden! :P

I mean, just because a lot of killers play with a lot of camping and tunneling (which is IMO cheap unless it's really necessary or gor Punishing a toxic survivor) doesn't justify it's a good playstyle and should be viable, you know what I mean?
Most killer camp and tunnel because they are weak at chasing, they don't want to go into a new chase with a healthy survivor cuz this would waste them to much time.
I'm not always the guy who say this, but it's more a case of "git gud" to tunneling/camping killers than anything else, because I'm trying to promote skillful playing, and insidious basement camping as Bubba for example isn't skillfull but can reward you kills.

What if the unhooker is someone fresh off a hook? You pick them up and you're taking a strike.

Down them in one shot and mori them. Odds are they aren't going to know you have it since the Obsession will bounce around each survivor with DS.

They can’t use DS if you never hit them and just let them escape... which is pretty much the same as camping minus 1 kill

If it had these new changes, and was obsession only, that would actually be pretty great. If the player uses it but is NOT the obsession, just make it so they fill their struggle bar a bit faster or something. Then at worst case it would basically become what new players mistake boil over actually does :chuffed:

Survivors have no idea what is coming until they get hit with first down with no DS available. The DS "Nerf" is not going to go the way people think.

Now that you can not take the killer on a second expedition through the map you will have that time dedicated to camping you out of the game. Or you can be Mori'd as you lie there snickering that you have DS. NOED will be there waiting for the final 2-3 as the gens pops.

My advice? Work on your suffering tolerance as it is going to get painful and raw. Have a nice day.

i don't run DS and i rarely worry about NOED

My advice? Work on your suffering tolerance as it is going to get painful and raw. Have a nice day.

To be fair the old DS could be a free escape anyway. If you knocked down the obsession near the exit - free escape. If you knock down a regular survivor near the exit and the hook isn't close by - 35% free escape.

At least now it relies on them being unhooked within the past minute. It's not perfect as it can still grant free escapes but at least there will be some situations where it won't take effect.
