  • Honestly, as a survivor main, i think it's just going to be easier to destroy killers, since they will just have to leave chases against good survivors.

However, they should only get Bloodlust 1. I don't see any need for 2 and 3.

I'm sure the people using Wake Up! when it affected all interactions were also "just using the perk normally".

I use this perk in one of my perk loadouts and didn't even know it was bugged when using it until i visited the forums.

I just assumed it was either a visual bug or a change, since i don't really notice small difference like that, probably because i'm not on gens very often.

  • This is the only game i have ever played where 20 ping feels like lag.

Servers 18 years ago were better and more responsive then whatever these Devs call servers.

    It's a joke really.

Does anyone agree? I feel like everyone would be fine if they skipped a chapter to only fix bugs and clear up some toxicity, maybe even rework some existing mechanics and UI.

I understand they say they effectively doubled their team since 2018 but it really feels like nothing has changed. I am not a company manager but it seems like a no-brainer at this point.

There is no point in a health chapter.

    Why you ask?

Because they will probably just introduce even more bugs. Even if they did fix a plethora of bugs, they will just be re-introduced in the following patch/chapter.

Nothing actually gets fixed, just band-aided.

  • I play about one game a month now.

You aren't on the art team, you wouldn't know how hard it is to connect various models to mix and match together, and yes its entitlement that you expect them to work 20 times as hard

I don't need to be on the art team to know they use the same character model for all of that characters cosmetics, not various models.

The cosmetics on said models don't matter when the model is the same. They don't need to adjust certain cosmetics for different cosmetics on the same model, and if they have to, then your probably right.

They probably are using various models and making it 20 times harder for themselves when they already can't model correctly.

There are obviously not worried about working harder since they break the game every patch due to their terrible coding.

I like this game and all, but unlike yourself, i could never speak highly of it or recommend it to anyone due to the terrible state it's always in, the consistent lying to the community, the unfinished patch notes, the sheer amount of bugs, and the greed every year.

9 people compared to the usually 3,860

(disclaimer: all numbers are fabricated from approximate guesses)

The purchase of the set is going to be a lot larger then 3 people...

  • @bjorksnas said:

Entitled people be like, how dare the art team for this game not spend hundreds more hours on each outfit just so i can mix and match before buying and using another outfit instead, ill show them by not buying this one but buying the other ones instead.

Gl art team keep up the good work

Not entitled at all. I would like this cosmetic, unfortunately i can't buy it in 3 separate pieces so i won't buy it at all.

    I don't buy sets.

Hundreds more hours? It's already in 3 pieces... And they obviously use the same Kate model for all cosmetics.

Why would they lose money? People are stupid enough to buy it, hence why they keep pumping out these so call sets.

Actually, if we're just going from Forum outrage, about 3 people would purchase it and everyone else is throwing a temper tantrum, so yeah they'd be losing money.

Don't like it, don't buy it. That's how capitalism works.

3 people purchasing the set is selling 9 cosmetics, since your forced to buy all three.

  • @Buttercake said:

If greed was why they linked then from your own statement, they are ...losing...money linking. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Greed has nothing to do with it.

Greed has everything to do with it.

Classifying 3 separate pieces as an uncreative set, then selling the set for $10. Not being about to purchase a piece separately and forcing players to purchase 3 separate cosmetics at full price. Everything about that screams greed to me.

Why would they lose money? People are stupid enough to buy it, hence why they keep pumping out these so call sets.

  • Not really much of a combo tbh.

Using 2 of your perks for the same result.

But what grinds my gears is the fact that they (to my knowledge at least) didn't communicate this change to their player base.

Of course they didn't, it would make them look scummy.

They do this all the time.

When the 4 Year Anniversary event was happening, and they changed the spawn rarity of items and offerings, i took to the forums about leaving things out of patch notes and not informing the player base of the changes, because it wasn't mentioned anywhere.

I guarantee there are a lot of changes we don't see or aren't informed on, and they should not and never been hidden from the player base. I really disapprove of leaving things out of patch notes, purposely or accidentally.

Every change made should be given to the player base. Period.

Jesus christ. This is the 3rd time that I've heard these freakin hackers doing this crap. I seriously don't understand what enjoyment they get from ruining someones career like this, especially Puppers of all people. The man is one of the most down to earth streamers and such a joy to watch. BHVR needs to seriously get a handle on this hacking crap!

I don't even see that to be the problem.

What i don't understand is how they are able to hack the DC penalty system in the first place and why such a thing is so vulnerable to hacking, since this is the only game that i have ever seen someone hack a penalty system before, and have it be targeted at certain players as well. Only further proof that these Devs are terrible at coding.

How this can even be a thing is beyond me.

  • As a player with over 3k hours over both survivor and killer, my honest advise to any new player is to get a refund.

Bug fixing depends on priority and difficulty, maybe it was so easy to fix that it took them 1 minute by writing 2 words in the code.

True, but that single minute could be spent on fixing an actual problem.

  • I think the question is, how is an animation bug a higher priority to fix over things that break the game entirely?

  • I feel this is why ranks are currently hidden.

So they can hide the fact that if the new matchmaking is broken, doesn't work as intended or seems incorrect, they can just say it is working and you just have to believe them.

Because what would we know about something we can't see.

  • Don't even get me started on Legendary sets or sets in general.

They are a money grab, plain and simple.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/179445/can-you-show-the-true-ranks-so-we-can-provide-feedback

From the news section of this very website:

    • "Why are we keeping the skill rating hidden?

For every player who gets really excited at the prospect of seeing their skill rating, there is another player who dreads it. For now, to encourage everyone to play the game the best they can, we are keeping the skill rating hidden. We have plans to expose it somewhat in the future, but nothing to announce at this time.

I don't like this as it sounds like an excuse.

Most, if not all games with a ranking system are shown, and i have never seen a person complain or dread about their own rank, apart from the fact that they want to improve.

The previous ranking system was shown and i don't believe anyone had a problem with it, apart from it being clearly broken.

How would it be any different to show it now or later on down the track? That absolutely makes no sense.

Again, we cannot provide feedback on what we cannot see. We don't know how the system determines ranks, skill or how it even works because it's hidden.

I also suspect we won't get patch notes about it either since we won't know if something is/was being changed, if it's working as intended or if something breaks, so they can just hide it from the community without any complaints.

To play 'the game the best they can', we need to see where we can improve, if we are improving or not, the difference between our rank and the people we are vs'ing, otherwise what's the point of having the matchmaking at all if it's hidden? Hell, we don't even know if it's working correctly right now, and i'm not just going to take the Devs word for it.

  • Unfortunately, the matchmaking is hidden so providing any feedback on something you cannot see is pointless. You wouldn't even know if it is working as intended or not until they show the true ranks.

  • They need to move away from add-ons that negatively effect the killer, as they did with Hag.

  • @UMCorian said:

Update: Okay this system is starting to work. It took like 5 games to get there... I guess it's just really wonky at first.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/91BUPUPL89L3/notlol.png

All those PainReliever vids I watched for like a week before I bought this game seem to have taught me a little more than I thought.

The rankings shown don't mean much now since the matchmaking/new ranking is hidden, so you don't really know how well you are performing against who you are vs'ing. The rankings you are seeing are just remnants of the old ranking system.

The problem i have with that is, this could mean i am being matched against certain players much higher or lower then my rank, but i can't argue that the system is working or broken, if i can't see it, making feedback literally impossible to provide until they show the actual rankings.

Who really knows if the ranking/matchmaking is working as stated if we can't even see it?

  • Most of the survivor spawn points are know. When the killer spawns into the game, he already knows where a few survivors will be and will bee lines to the closest.

  • @Carpemortum said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1483780#Comment_1483780

    See that's where you're wrong.

Some of us take whatever game were given and do what we can with it instead of bitching about suboptimal circumstances.

Some of us also play on a level above most players, at the point where the game is much more competitive than the casual game it is. This applies to survivors and killers alike.

For those players, playing suboptimally as killer is not an option if you intend to win every game, as the power role in every one of those games will always belongs to the survivors.

Being locked into a certain killer and not being able to switch that killer/power depending on the situation is not optimal for those that play at the highest level and want to win. This means the majority of killers that will be picked at high ranks, will only be the top tier killers who can handle every situation thrown at them because they can't afford to play killers that have any weakness.

You don't have to agree with me, but people already dodge certain match ups when they want to play a specific killer. I only expect that number to increase, and if that number increases, lobby times will.

  • @CheyeneKL said:

    1. New ranking system coming, part of it involves separate rankings for each killer you play as SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO FACE RED RANKS ON A KILLER YOU AREN'T RED RANK LEVEL WITH. This is GOOD because higher ranked players won't be queued against a rank 1 Squadette group on their very first try of Deathslinger, because their Deathslinger will be ranked lower.

    2. You aren't able to switch killers ONCE YOU HAVE FOUND A MATCH because you have been QUEUED WITH AN APPROPRIATE SKILL/RANKING LEVEL, RELATED TO WHATEVER KILLER YOU QUEUED UP WITH.

If you are rank 1 (by current match making system standards) with Freddy/Spirit/etc, do well most matches with him (enough to consistently stay rank 1), etc., and then decide "hmm, I'm gonna try playing as Oni, a newer character that I just bought and have ZERO experience with", you queue up, and match making will search for a lower rank level of survivors for you to verse. You are locked in on Oni because if you get into a lobby of, say, green ranks, switching to your rank 1 Freddy is simply unfair for those lower rank survivors, because the only reason you were queued up to play against them was because you readied up with a lower skill rated killer for you.

Now, I imagine this is sort of a testing period for how they're changing ranks, skill levels, match making, etc. Ideally, there will be a visible indicator of what skill level each of your killers are, and you will be able to switch between killers that are of the same level.

Honestly, I'm not a HUGE fan of the change. I understand what they are going for and I do totally support at least trying this new system out, but I think there should at least be an option to opt out- you'd always play at your own rank regardless of your killer skill level, which means you couldn't try out Nurse without going up against your main's skill level, but you'd have the option to counter pick from Hag in a 4 flash light lobby to maybe Billy or whatever other character you'd rather play as, without being forced to lobby dodge if you REALLY didn't want to play against a lobby like that, you know?

(caps for emphasis, not yelling btw hehe)

The problem with that is, there is only a small amount of skill involved with playing a new/different killer, because their powers is different from others, but by all definition, their fundamental structure is exactly the same. You chase, you hit a survivor twice, pick them up and hook them (there are a couple of exceptions).

But once you know how to run the correct path around a loop, which pallets are safe/unsafe, the distance on when you should lunge etc, you are always going to be a red ranked killer no matter how good you are with their power, because that skill remains the same. If you good with one particular killer, you're going to be good with every killer.

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/175642/killers-can-no-longer-change-characters-in-lobby

Everyone wanted killer specific ranks. Skill ranks affect match making. Of course the killer gets locked, how did you think they were going to do this?

I have never read anywhere that people wanted specific killer ranks. This is a first for me. As far as i can see, most of the top players disagree with this change.

Every killer plays the same except for a few exceptions. If your good at killer, you're literally good at every killer.

This game doesn't need such a complex rank system when ranks mean absolutely nothing. There is still no incentive to even bother getting to high ranks, hence why a lot of players will sit a low ranks for easy games. This happens already, and more so now that the DC penalty has been removed.

"Besides, no-one is going to play killers such as Wraith anymore at high ranks if your locked into a killer. Again, decreasing killer variety. I can tell you from experience that vs'ing Spirit 9 times in a row is not fun."

I would really like some stats to see how many killer players switched killers to handle a survivor group better. I highly doubt that happened very often. I for myself do not really care about the survs, I just pick whomever i want to play now. And that can also be Wraith in red ranks, even against multiple FL. Heck, then I'll just equip Lightborn and take more care when uncloaking. The only issue I can agree on is hag, bc she can really rendered useless by FL. But then just dodge the lobby, where is the problem?

Sure, I see a killer leaving ther lobby when 4 surfs are ready somewhat more often recently, but since the introduction of dedicated servers the survs will remain in the lobby, with the next killer ariving after jsut a few more seconds. I fail to see the dreaded increases of queing times, sorry.

One of the Aussie streamers i watch with over 7k hours, switches out his entire build and killer depending on what his going against to play at the highest optimal level so he can to consistently 4k every game.

I guess it won't matter for the casual player who plays a game here and there.

Being on low populated servers also doesn't help. It already takes 20 minutes to find a killer game. 5 minutes for survivor. I feel it's also going to push a lot of players away from killer in case they don't want to vs certain items and have to dodge and requeue, which will raise the wait times on survivor side. I can only imagine it being worse once your forced to play a certain killer.

I for one will probably be only playing the top tier killers myself, just so i can handle whatever situation i'm put in.

  • Survivors will abuse that fact that your locked into a certain killer, because that's exactly what i would do.

It's not optimal for a someone to main killer to choose someone below top tier if they are locked into what they are vs'ing.

As survivor who's rank will be the same across the board, means your going to be vs'ing those same killers constantly if your in high ranks, because no-one is going to choose a sub par killer that can't deal with flashlights, medkits, gen rush etc.

There already is a lack of killer variety at red ranks for this reason and this is just going to strengthen that.

  • @zoozoom6 said:

with this change they can isolate individual killer rank distribution and be able to see which killers need to be tinkered with. i think if they see some killers are not capable of getting to red ranks these issues will be easier to deal with you dont have to always balance for a specific rank exclusivly

All killers are able to get to red ranks already, regardless of what killer/s you play.

Forcing a lock just means they won't be picked as often, which we will see less killer variety at higher ranks.

"Besides, no-one is going to play killers such as Wraith anymore at high ranks if your locked into a killer. Again, decreasing killer variety. I can tell you from experience that vs'ing Spirit 9 times in a row is not fun."

this is a short term outcome that will let the dev clearly see which killers need work. right now the waters are heavily muddied by rank 1 killers who switch through many killers but overall maintain their ranks due to most killer being relatively balanced. dont you see separate killer rank are an isolation tool that will made overall balance so much easier?

No. Because the game isn't balanced around high ranked play. It's balanced between medium and low ranks.

In that perspective, Wraith is considered balanced.

  • @zoozoom6 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1483780#Comment_1483780

one of the best things about killer rank being exclusive to each killer (which is what this is for) is it will bring alot of these problems to light if red rank survivors over use fladhlights(and they do) then hag and wraiths never lasting long in red ranks will be easily seen by devs and lead to real changes were they are most needed. this is net positive any way you slice it

Probably not. In my 3k hours of playing this game, this has never happened.

You only have to look at the state of the game and the hundreds of bugs they introduce every patch that never get fixed.

I still don't understand the focus of flashlights against Hag and Wraith, because that is not what my post is about. It was an example.

Besides, no-one is going to play killers such as Wraith anymore at high ranks if your locked into a killer. Again, decreasing killer variety. I can tell you from experience that vs'ing Spirit 9 times in a row is not fun.

the closest thing you can say might "force" a killer to dodge is like 4 rank 1's with flashlights against wraith even its a not forcing anything. rest assured i am reading your full posts/replys

    It's about increased lobby dodging.

    It's about increased wait times.

    It's about decreased killer variety.

Is the something you would support?

Please stop focusing on the single player and focus on the player base as a whole.

It won't only be me that may be forced to dodge, it will be every player.

there huge difference between "do i want to get harassed all game due to awful match up or dodge" and "i cant counter everything? why even play?"

It's not just about me. It about how the player base is going to react to the changes as a whole.

There are going to be loads of killers that will dodge lobbies due to one reason or another, due to what killer they are playing compared to what they are up against. In turn, this will only increase wait times for survivors and killers. Not to mention, this will also decrease killer variety. This change will effect everyone, survivor and killer alike.

You shouldn't ever need to dodge a lobby. Putting a system in place that may force a player to do so is not a good thing.

Please read the post as a whole instead of picking selective sentences which is barely a fragment of the point i am making.

  • @zoozoom6 said:

They really need to skip a chapter or two, and dedicate those 3-6 free months to cleaning up their game. No balance changes, not even quality of life changes, but just code optimisation. Rewrite some parts, tweak some parts, and test it all extensively, maybe even with community help, if there is time. In the end we should get a game that runs better (especially on console), has less bugs, is less prone to generate new bugs when new content is added, and free up some hardrive space (the game is 35GB big for some reasons).

It wouldn't matter though. After that, they will bring out a new DLC and be back where they started.

  • Killers?

    As survivor, i haven't used a single cake. 😀

  • You have to play with the mindset of achieving your goal.

If you wanted those two kills or even four kills, then in no way should you be playing nice, otherwise you will lose.

  • @Sunri said:

I can't understand why killer main's complain about state of the game its so easy to get 3/4 kills there are people with insane win streak's on killer's like 100+ ######### wins in a row show one streamer or anyone that escaped 100 times without dying once its impossible solo q survivor is much harder than playing killer and Billi nerf made him A tier killer instead of S tier I don't think those people that cry all over reddit/forum played ptb i hope the devs won't get pressured and the nerf goes live.

I have over 3k hours and play both killer and survivor at rank ranks equally.

When i play survivor, i feel like i am in the power role, even as a solo survivor. If you know your loops, pallet spawns and different ways to juke, you can run any killer for 5 gens and still escape.

Only sometimes and only in red ranks as survivor, i do feel that the power role belongs to the killer. I tend to find that anything below red ranks, i am always in the power role.

As for the BIlly nerf, i don't mind the overheat, although i think it needs tweaking. The only problem i have is with his add-ons that don't affect his power, such as the two add-ons that are only used for flashlights, which are useless, and ultra rares that actually hinder him instead of benefiting him.

  • I honestly don't mind too much about the nerfs to his base kit with the overheat, however it needs some tweaking. The main problem i have is with his confusing add-ons, especially the ones that are targeted at flashlights which have nothing to do with his power and are completely useless.

Not to mention his ultra rares are not even worth taking over his brown offerings. You're spending a higher amount of BP to hinder yourself. That does not make sense.

  • I mean, i'm not the smartest person, but even i could create add-ons better then what i witnessed in the PTB.

Those add-on are just plain stupid.

Also, please don't take things so literal.

Those addon changes should cost someone their job tbh.

  • In other words, it was changed to cater to new players who can't hit skill checks instead of balancing the game at the standard level of play.

  • @PodgeNotRodge said:

So as the devs have stated, they want to add incentive for this game. Well and good, it does need that.

How did they do this? Myself and 3 brothers were cut short on cakes on survivor bloodwebs. Sometimes getting none for 5 webs straight from 30+ and up. I went from 33 to 45 yesterday and probably got 1 every 3 weeks. Not even mystery boxes were in some webs either.

    Meanwhile killer gets an overhaul.

So their version of "Incentive" is to cut event offerings short one side so youd play the opposite side more? To play the game the way they want you to? Genius devs, absolutely genius.

No. They decreased the spawn rate of cakes and increased the spawn rate of items. Usually a single event item will be in each web. Cake, flashlight or medkit.

That said, killers don't get event items therefor the cake is the only thing that can spawn. This also doesn't mean killers get a cake in every bloodweb.

  • No, don't worry about that.

We have to implement killer and perk changes that no-one asked for before even fixing the broken state of the game...

EDIT: Just had a game where 2 red ranked survivors were talking trash to a green ranked killer. With this rank system broken, it only discourages people from playing the game.

  • I just don't like indoor maps and honestly think their the worst maps in the game.

  • Nothing. You can keep them or use them anytime, as far as i know.

I still have ones left over from the 3rd Anniversary event.
