Survivors will abuse that fact that your locked into a certain killer, because that's exactly what i would do.
It's not optimal for a someone to main killer to choose someone below top tier if they are locked into what they are vs'ing.
As survivor who's rank will be the same across the board, means your going to be vs'ing those same killers constantly if your in high ranks, because no-one is going to choose a sub par killer that can't deal with flashlights, medkits, gen rush etc.
There already is a lack of killer variety at red ranks for this reason and this is just going to strengthen that.
While it's true that survivor might get high tier killer more often in red ranks, the locking shouldn't be a problem at all since people got lower mmr on weaker killer and therefor don't really have to care about specific items. So there would actually more people playing weak killers since they might have a fair game. And based on stats after these killer mmr's, BHVR would be able to nerf/buff more precisely.
Also, going againat 4 flashlights and so on is extremely rare IMHO. Even if you get a game like this, at least 3 people don't know how to use it right (yes, red ranks). So, the cases where you feel like you "need to swap killers depending on items" are extremely low where you can just dodge this lobby and move on if you really want to.

There's a reason why killers are unique. Loudouts are just one part of what makes a killer. Multiple medkits, for instance, can make Clowns life much harder. Or as stated, multiple flashlights against Wraith.
The other issue is if you're playing a killer you haven't invested a lot of BP into. That killer may not have a lot of options when it comes to loudout. So if a sweaty group is spotted, you either suck it up and lose, most likely, or you dodge and try your hand again.
But then again... You get survivors based on that killers mmr so items shouldn't make much of a difference

All killers are able to get to red ranks already, regardless of what killer/s you play.
Forcing a lock just means they won't be picked as often, which we will see less killer variety at higher ranks.
Why would there be less variety because of locking? Lol

So... now that the killes have proven they are NOT going to play fair during this event, I Think We should agree That during the next event there is no reason to make things easy on the killers. I swear to God this is the worst event ever. Killers bringing in Their worst builds, Moris, tunneling and camping. You do realise They made it easy for you to get the crown so there was a chance you would play fair?
i Think during next event you should make it so all 4 survivors need to be hooked for the killer to get the event-item. i really Think it’s a ######### behavior and it kind of shows who the real toxic people here are.. Think about that next time you sit and whine about how toxic survivors are.

Took me several days, playing 12+ hours every day, but we got there.
Now I couldn't have done this alone so I'd like to thank the BHVR team for changing DC penalties from a percentage basis to the number of instances during a 24 hour period.
And of course if you play all day and crash once? Well then your penalty never resets. I mean that stroke of genius I have to tip my hat to. I would be stuck thinking logically, trying to apply penalties in a fair and balanced way, but BHVR is thinking outside the box. Play a little? DC all you want. Play a lot? Never crash, not even once in a 24 hour window or you're blocked from playing the game you paid for. Damn, why didn't I think of that.
And last but not least, to the loving community who assures me that I'm a liar because DBD doesn't crash or even have bugs! Wow! Now that kind of programming talent you want to hold on to!
Thank you.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thanks for ruining the other players experience <3 fix your sht before playing an online game. No way it crashes that much, i maybe get one every 500 games and disconnecting while loading does NOT count as dc, so maybe just don't dc

Thank you for opening my eyes to this. At first I was a fool and believed maybe the devs were trying to reward us for playing the game religiously but nope. the Rift is just one big sale. That's all it is. a 75% discount disguised as some fun. Well guess what I don't want your big dumb 75% discount I want you to actually fix the game
What 75% discount? If you level up to 70, basically everything you get ia FREE. You just have to invest into 1000 auric cells a single time to get every rift for free (as long as you level up to 70)

Even if you are good with nurse, it's not fun to spend 1/3 of the match stunned. It just feels so clunky. Besides that, bugs won't speak for playing her either (i.e. blink doesn't always work but you get stunned after it failed - even in an completely open field).
And yeah, if you're bad with nurse... One miss and you can't catch up for a long time

So when im gonna do stats. i wanted to ask what may be interesting to keep track of.
We already made a small list of things im gonna track: gens done, match time, kills, mori, ranks, ruin / noed, bad team /killer.
Something else that would be good to track. or maybe kick something out?
edit: Maybe this sounds a bit narcissistic but i thing me and my friend both are really good survivors. he has over 3k hours and i myself have 1.5k. (i know time is no skill representative). Stats will only be from rank 1 matches. dc killer or survivor will be included but marked so its well visible.

No you won't know because you can't see the rank. playing against a high skill player and you are a no skill one and win the game won't tell you and you will think that the system is doing the job.
Hiding a rank system is very unhealthy i've never seen any games hiding your skill level. Rainbow six , paladin , fortnite , ffxiv , LoL none of them hide your skill level and those have some really good ranking system but also have casual mode which DBD don't.
Don't overthink it if you can live in peace w/o knowing it. You can always just assume that he's a better player (which he kinda is if you lose) in case you did nothing wrong. If you did mistakes, you know as well.
This games are not asymmetrical tho it's completely different imho

Wrong you will get bullied but you won't know if the skill is matched. How that's fun. Imagine playing against a e-sport player but the system don't tell you is rank. What will you say ? This game is balanced and fun because the rank system don't tell me if i'm matched with my skill level bracket.
It's like hidding a username you get tbagged and bullied all game but you don't know who it is. That will bring a free getaway from toxicity or worse imagine getting away with hostage situation but don't get to see the username.
Anyway i'm out from the subject, my point is no seeing the ranks or not will change nothing if the game is toxic he will stay toxic. Differences is that you won't see if the rank is matched and that's simply a bad design as he can exploiting easily by survivors.
So, if you get bullied but see the rank you feel better than without seeing ranks? Whats the difference?
If the system works "well" enough you shouldn't be bullied anyways. And if you play good or bad you will know it anyways...

There's nothing wrong to run any specific perk imho. As killer or survivor, play what you want.

With this thinking, you have to focus on 2 survivors and ignore the other 2. Not fun for the survivors being focused/tunneled. Not fun for the survivors being ignored, as they don't get chased. Not fun for the killer as they pretty much have to ignore 2 survivors and actively search for the 2 already hooked.
1v2 mode confirmed :)

Exactly.
A perfect game is a 2k and 2 escape, which means you have to win 6 chases at least. Or by building up pressure and chase them away from the gens and have them injured you can buy some extra time to win even more chases.
But you can even get 8 hooks and won't kill a single one by doing so. So you're telling me you should tunnel 2 survivor every game and camp them? Kk :)

Killers need more far more bloodpoints to function though.
Survivors and Killers both spend BP on perks. That's universal. But add-ons and items are the difference to why Killers need more BP overall. Survivors can either spend BP on items/add-ons or find them in game. Survivors also are able to keep their items/add-ons if they aren't wasted and can survive the game. Killers on the other hand have no option but to spend BP on their add-ons and they are used up no matter what every game.
So as Killer is earning more BP on average per game, they are spending far more BP per game as well.
In any case. Im perfectly fine with KYF being able to earn BP. Not going to like how easy someone can farm BP in KYF, but it shouldn't mean much overall as it will still take time to farm anyway. BP farming in KYF would likely take a lot longer if you think about it if they prevent BP offerings and the fact that without a full lobby of 5 BP gains are dreadful.
It's not the same with perks for survivor and killer since you need only 1 survivor with all perks for unique gameplay. As killer, you need perks on every killer you wanna play, nearly no one plays only one killer all the time. Assuming you want to play all unique chars, you need 1 survivor with perks but soon like 20 killer with all perks which means you need 20(!!!) times as much bloodpoints as killer.
And this gets worse with every new dlc. At one point they should just change it so you get perks for one side but all chars (but then it probably will be too less grind tho)

It doesn't really have a purpose. You can't loop a killer around 1 pallet forever, so why is it in the game? What purpose does it really have? I find it quite unnecessary, personally.
Bloodlust kinda forces the survivor to drop pallets a bit earlier tho. Without it they have to nerf loops and amount of pallets. There are a few settings where survivor could kinda infinite loop without dropping a pallet if there is like a setting with 2 windows.
It definitely has a right to exist and it's easy to play around. Out of sight, drop pallet, bait attack and so on...

Cool. And we want our developers to do that too.
Why? Because we want to know if it works or not and we want to see how good our enemies were. This is why ranks are shown in other games. I dont want to guess if my enemies were good or not and does matchmaking work or not.
You will feel if you get like 80%+ good or bad games. If they feel good you know it's working, if they feel bad you will know it doesn't. See everyones rank will not change anything. Everyone gets new mmr, rank means nothing - so if they adjust the mmr gain better as they do with the pip system it will be fine.

@starkiller1286 That's frustrating then. It requires entirely no skill at all, making these killers never attempt at being better, but still being rewarded for it with a down eventually. I was this only guy's kill because he tunneled me all game and got me with bloodlust and noed at the end. I'm glad my team got out, but it doesn't feel good to be cheated by BHVR at the end and dying to a poor mechanic.
If they are keeping this as a pathetic, interim map "balancer" it still needs a major nerf. Remove tier 3, at the very least, ya know?
Bloodlust takes a long time to activate. Meanwhile, gens will get finished and games ends pretty quick if killer keeps chasing with bloodlust. If you bloodlust EVERY chae you will lose all gens in no time. No need to nerf

No shown ranks = less players
There people who like challenge and do not enjoy being matched against baby players.
Also there are people who enjoy seeing themselves improve as a player.
You want to kick all those people out because someone laughed at your rank or whatever?
I'm usually red rank with both roles but i couldn't care less.
If you get matched with "baby" killers you will know. No need to see his rank. And if mmr is working you should get someone with same skill so your argument is invalid. Also, people played this game non-competitive until now as well, they won't leave if they can't see ranks anymore

The only thing I care about is being able to see if matchmaking works or not.
When I got matched with team of red and purple ranks as a yellow rank killer, I told them "gg nice matchmaking" and they reply "sorry, wp anyway"
I have never seen hostility based on ranks in the game chat, and forum does not count because here people are toxic about everything all the time anyway.
Knowing if the game works is the most important, rest comes later.
Yes they do. No shown ranks = less toxic people

By good reason you mean what? Being able to lie that it works while it does not? Because thats the only reason why devs would hide it.
People will be less toxic.
Mmr system won't get exploited that much/easy.
You still see your "rank" if it means something to you.
There are still factors like different maps, killers, (survivor)perks which can affect "mmr" so it still wouldn't be on point.
If you do good, you will know. If you ######### up, you will know. You will "feel" the mmr anyways, no need to see it.
But IF they show something they better introduce "mmr rewards"

Its a very important fundemental concept in games like these. Youre removing ranks because they wont affect matchmaking, ok. There will be some hidden elo, ok.
But we NEED to have another system that allows us to the skill level of other players in some way, make medals or idk, like any game such as Dota, Apex Legends or LoL.
1000 hours into this game and I'm really starting to lose hope. There better be a new, immensely improved ranking system that allows you to gauge other players skill that YOU CAN SEE, at the very least after the game. Or this game will die. Leaderboards and ranking systems are needed.
Please don't make another bad change. We want more transparency, not less.
Nah we don't need to see ranks. It will be less toxic and more fun to play

@JawsIsTheNextKiller said:
With the new matchmaking, a new method will be used to match players. Currently survivor skill is measured as following":
- Repairs
- Escaping
- Not being downed
- Unhooking and healing
When I mentally assess a survivor, I consider none of these when deciding who is going to cause me problems.
Similarly, if I play survivor, I consider myself dominated when we all get chainsawed and slugged after 90 seconds which would only give the killer a draw at best. If a killer draws the game out and hooks us all 3 times, I don't think that was a players who shouldn't be at my lowly survivor rank.
So how SHOULD BHVR assess skill in the new system?
I'd consider length of chases 50% (also escapes from chases if you've been the only one in a chase) and all the emblems another 50% since long chases are what makes you win/lose.
-
@arslaN said:
Try to stop them from doing the other 3 :)
You guys aren't helping your cases at all by posting videos where the killer ends up winning. If I was someone who did not believe that gen speeds were too short, this would not convince me at all.
Imho they should drastically slow genspeed within the first 1-2 minutes BUT speed it up a lot at a later stage (either as time goes on or/and hookcount/dead survivors.
So it wouldn't feel as bad as killer since you won't lose gens that fast at the beginning and as survivor you still got a chance even if another survivor dies since gens could get done faster

It's on our to-do list. The issue is that some perks are very easy to buff (simple number tweaks) while others are a little less so. Monstrous Shrine is actually a great example of that so I'm glad you brought it up. In Monstrous Shrine's case, increasing the numbers probably isn't the way to go about it (unless you really want Basement Bubba to be meta). Monstrous Shrine would likely need a new effect, which takes a lot more time.
Hell yeah. Give us basement bubba meta!

I'm a killer main but play survivor with a group. We are all red rank 1 survivors or have been at some time, so there isn't anyone better than any of us. We're all as good as it gets, as many players are.
None of us escaped a single match tonight and that has become a very common occurrence. In fact, of the last 10 times we have played, I'd say we have escaped maybe 2 or 3 matches out of the last 10 days of playing.
It's extremely rare.
And we are in party, coordinated, and as good as it gets, so I can't imagine where these killers are that think the game is hard.
I am a killer main and there are a number of killers I cannot use because they're so OP I feel guilty.
Michael, Freddy, Leatherface, Trapper, Oni. In all fairness hillbilly is op, too but I enjoyhim so much that I play him anyway.
As a killer, I see just how OP the killers are and I can't understand why killers complain. Of my group, we are all killer mains who only play survivor together and we unanimously agree the game is waaay too easy for killers and waaay too hard for survivors.
Almost very game we play as killer or survivor is 4k, so where are these killers who are having such a hard time? As much as I despite the phrase "git gud", with as much as the game gives killers advantage, I can't help but think if you're having a hard time, you need to work at it.
And when a new killer is released, it should take you AT LEAST a solid week of daily playing to get a 4k. The Oni was 4ks on his first day.
What happened to working? Practicing. Try watching games as survivor after you die.
We wish we could get paired up with these killers who have trouble but all we get is 4k killers. Usually toxic and the devs enable it and do nothing to prevent it.
Kill all 4 survivors in the basement in one round. Gee, that's not going to inspire camping.
I love this game, but it is bittersweet.
It comes with such anger and frustration. The injustice of already OP killers resorting to exploits, shady tactics, and unsportsmanlike behavior is a constant strain.
This game has actually profoundly hurt my perception of humanity. Granted it's all happening during MAGA days and Trump's horde of bigots, but all I see every day is how selfish the average human is.
No respect for others
No consideration
Just selfishness.
It's dark.
I have noticed I'm not as happy when I play this.
And I love it so I really wish the devs would discourage that bullshit.
It's an epidemic.
When a group of redrank 1 survivors play for hours without anyone escaping and it goes on for days... There's something wrong.
What I don't get is why our experience is all the same as eachother but so different than you.
Maybe you're not as good as you think if you don't escape that much as a 4 man swf. Oof

i'm never toxic in the chat after the game, whatever happened in the game i say "gg wp" every time, my stream can show that. I understand that the waiting time as survivor is because there are not a lot of killers. But i ha ve the right to think it is possible to make a better matchmaking to make faster the search time, i remind that at a moment in the story of the game they tried to do that, there was a fair waiting time, that made that everybody was ready to wait the same time, and since that moment it's the hell. There should be a way to better the matching, and maybe we can know on a day how many killers played and how many survivors played ? since this we could get a good conclusion.
It was just a general note (it just adds up to an even worse experience for the killer, doesn't matter if he got 0k or 4k), not specifically about you.
Only "fair" matchmaking regarding the time would be if everyone just goes into a queue for survivor/killer and picks first in queue. And to get instant queues as survivor the ratio must be like 5:1 (since 4 surv on 1 killer and if a survivor dies he queues again while killer is still playing). But since that's a pretty bad idea due location and ranks, it won,t happen. I can't tell how the current matchmaking exactly works but if BHVR was able to speed queues up it's probably barely noticeable, it'd just be a few seconds i guess.

Yes i know, but, as i said earlier, the waiting time is very long as survivor since a long time, since some month it's long and yes it's getting even worst because, playing killer actually looks for a lot of us, very boring and frustrating and uninteresting, i understand that. But i'm very sure that a more efficient matching can be done and then of course gives more fun for the killer.
Don't you get it? It can't be faster if there are no killers in queue. And it won't change if BHVR keeps nerfing killers and telling everyone they're "overperforming" due to worthless stats. Back then itnwas faster because more people played killer since it was more fun as it is now. It just got too stressful.
Also, don't be toxic in aftergamechat if you want killers to stay
-
And maybe even increase the amount of totems or find a tool first which allows to break it
-
Just remove the safety pips for a more reliable ranking system
-
The thing is, as survivor you literally need only one maxed character for "unique" gameplay. Multiple maxed survivors are a "bonus" or "skins".
As killer, everyone plays a bit different and you kinda need all perks on every killer to play around with builds and stuff. (If you don't want to stick to a single killer)

Back in 2016 survivors were new to the game and most couldn't run the killer at all so times weren't that bad. Nowadays, if you do well as survivor you can run the killer for a pretty long time.

If you buy DLCs just for the perks alone, you're dumb. Like how a lot of people complained how the Ash DLC was a scam when they nerfed Mettle of Man, I simply don't get that mindset.
I buy the characters for the characters alone. Not to get the most meta perks in the game.
Well, if you play survivor you don't need any DLC since it's jusz a "skin" and most perks are not worth to get. Anyways, you can still unlock for shards or shrine. In the time you get one char to 40 for the teachables you can afford the next one with shards so you don't need all dlc's at once.
However, if you play killer as well it's totally worth to buy the DLCs for unique gameplay.

They can just crank up the price a jit and give to new players the game with all non licensed killers, i mean if a new player want the "full game" now is going to cost him a leg...
Well, you don't "need" them as a new player and if you want a specific one you can buy it. Dlc's are in sale a lot of times as well so it's already cheaper to get it

Yes this is why the kill rate is 70%. Definitely.
Stats are worthless in this game. Too many random factors so they're not accurate at all.
