Conversely - I have played just under 1,000 hours so far in 2021 and come across - 1 hacker. It's all anecdotal. In just over 4k hours total in DBD I have ran across 3 hackers - which is far fewer than I have in other online games.

Same here. I am currently somewhere around 1200 hours clocked on DbD and have come across hackers 2 times. I guy who teleported and another who could not be injured. Both situations were annoying af though lol

  • Yet somehow still worth your time posting about it for attention shrug lol

Okay so this may sound dumb but stay with. Bait out the flash by uncloaking slightly till they shine the light, before you stop the uncloak and run around them in a circle. Your speed can usually outpace their mouse movements, though zig-zagging works too. They'll waste a lot of their flashlight on you doing this- though it's a lot more complex if you ever animation lock yourself (like breaking a pallet or vaulting a window without Shadow Dance). Best advice in that scenario is to take the burn then not re-cloak in chase if you feel like they can get to loops that force you into animation lock again.

That sounds like solid advice, thank you very much, will give it a try next match! ^^

I enjoy playing on the switch. I have only three small complaints. The first is I can't play killer in handheld mode; the screen is too small and I miss stuff (this is a personal problem not one with the game itself). The second is the controls are a bit tough to get used too. And the third is the player base is small. Lobby times are never more than 5 min (North America) but I see a lot of the same people.

Thanks bro, I appreciate the info!

I read that apparently playing docked results in bad micro stuttering so I imagine I will play on handheld the majority of the time. Yeah I can imagine controls for killer will be extra hard to get used to, especially nurse! ^^

The small player base is a bit of a worry but then again the game is still only new (ish) to Switch so hopefully that will grow some more.

But they do give out escalating bans for DC'ing. It just might not seem like it since it's different people every game, but rest assured if people do it excessively they do get banned for it, console or Pc. I would know since I actually got a week long ban for said Dc'ing.

While I don't doubt that's true, the issue then is that it's happening behind the scenes. In a game where I would imagine the majority of players (and I very much could be wrong) are solo and so they never see the ramifications of a report or dc. In this case there is little deterrent to other players not to dc because the consequences are anecdotal until they actually see a ban happen to them.

To give a slightly off-topic example, I was held hostage in a game as killer by two survivors (this was before endgame rework) for over half an hour. I managed to record the match + the post game chat where they admitted what they did. I opened a ticket with support, waited a couple of days for a reply and submitted the video as requested. I then got a reply from support a couple days later saying that they would look into it from here but that they do not notify you further of the actions taken.

It honestly felt so frustrating to go through all the hassle of the support system, waiting for the ticket to be got to, uploading the footage, etc,. to still be as left in the dark as if I had might as well just hit the report player button post lobby and left it there.

My point is that using the current tools the game provides to try combat the toxic portion of the playerbase feel completely underwhelming, as does the consequences for disconnecting. Other games have lockout timers for leavers and I just don't see why DbD can't do the same, when it's an issue that is actively affecting the game negatively.

Perma-ban for everyone who DC's then every other round won't exist meaning Killer queues will be twice as long as they are now, 30 minute wait times not long enough? No problem! lets extend them to 1 hour! =D

Maybe not perma-bans right away until dedicated servers come in, but I definitely can't see a problem with, say 15/30/60 min re-queue timers. I would honestly rather wait longer for a game than get put quickly into a match where there's not a full team

  • All this rage when the PTB has barely been running a couple of days smh...

I would get half the outcries if we were, say a day before release and BHVR had released a post saying "Here he is all ready to be shipped out to live tomorrow!", because I actually agree that the new killer has a lot to be tweaked before then and is currently far from viable.

Having said that, again, it's literally early PTB so some people just need to chill and see what is taken on board over this period before you go looking for blood. And yeah, if the killer is released as he is now then by all means voice your opinions and then it's on BHVR for not listening to their player base.

Or do anyway, peeps going to find something to be giving out about one way or the other I guess..

  • @Almo said:

He's absolutlely right. The power is meant as a delaying tactic.

When we shipped Pig, the complaint was "hey nobody dies from RBTs". But that was by design. :)

Yeah I remember those days! 😅

Doing better with Legion now, I was really underestimating the use of feral frenzy to wound survivors. Although they can heal deep wounds quickly, it still serves to keep players injured which I find makes them play much more cautiously at the least, making them more likely to mess up in situations such as loops where it comes down to mind games.

    Cheers again guys!

  • @FrenziedRoach said:

If he's mending, he's not doing generators

That's sort of the point of the power is to waste survivors time. Wound as many as you can while power is active, chase down however is closest and down them when the power wears off.

Think of his power like the Pigs - it's there to slow them down and keep them off gens. So it's actually okay if people are mending while you are chasing somebody else - they aren't getting anything done if they're mending.

But keep them guessing. If all you ever do is wound without ever downing, they won't heal to full. Legion has regular killer speed now, so don't be afraid to keep them guessing by not using your power on wounded ones and downing them outright.

    Cheers for the advice!

  • I main Nurse and in my own opinion, I think she is only considered broken because matchmaking is broken. When I am up in red ranks, players know how to use tactics like you mentioned, mind games etc, but when rank reset hits I get 4k's almost every other match. Once matchmaking ever gets fixed I think a lot of complaining will stop..

  • @NeaJovovich said:

    No.

The Killer shouldn't be able to see the items cuz they quickly leave the lobby they've created.

    It's annoying.

Killers are abusing a game mechanic and it needs to be removed.

Ya feel me on this one?

Once I can play nurse without 3 insta dc, then lets talk :P

  • I just think it's messed up that the game has no counter measures to deter this, like for instance let the crows appear over survivors heads once no generator has been interacted with on the map after "x" amount of time passes or something. The simple fact that you can be forced into a position where your forced to go afk or disconnect is honestly quite poor.

In either case I sent in the footage to the support team which includes them taunting about it in the end game lobby so hopefully these individuals get some form of ban/suspension.

On the plus side, I figured out how to record gameplay footage finally! '^^

  • I finally found one of them and hooked, while the other finally took hatch, I told them they were recorded and they said it was my fault for patrolling gens...

At least I know to dodge these guys in future, cheers guys

  • Cheers for all the advice guys, unfortunatly the game continues but at least I am recording it live from here on out. So they only digger a deeper hole for themselves I guess..

What killer are u even playing with and damn you got the worst map ever for a game like this

    I know right?

I'm playing nurse, so my options are to slowly walk around looking, or blink and announce easily where I am at all times -_-

  • @Speshul_Kitten said:

You’re telling me you can’t find one single survivor? All this effort you could’ve pushed them out the gates already.

its 2 claudettes..in blackwater swamp and the gates are not open, they still have 2 gens to do..

  • I have been afk making this thread and they still wont move, this is just sickning, I really wish I could record this because I know simply reporting them after will do nothing in all honestly...this is beyond toxic like..

  • @HavelmomDaS1 said:
Billy it is! Give him enduring + SF, put on addons for reduced cooldown and you will be a beast. Obviously if you played nurse 24/7 you forgot/never learned how to shorten a loop, how to "zone" etc but after that looping won't be an issue (besides some bullshit window house loops, but usually it's smarter to leave that survivor and go for someone else. I know, "crazy" tactic compared to nurse lol)

Yeah I'll be honest, I never did get the strats down on how to deal with loops as I am usually that guy who just chases until they make a mistake on their own lol, I suppose I just gotta bite the bullet and take my losses until I get the tricks down.

  • @Ihatelife said:
Simple. I play Spirit instead of nurse <3 I'm also tired being on the rank 1 tbh.

Hmm..maybe its about time I purchased her so, looking for a change!

  • @Blueberry said:
So to be clear you think they are making killers too strong against solo's in the process of dealing with SWF? It was a lot to read so I just skimmed.

No worries. And not exclusively, but that is partially what is happening. Like I said, I think both killer and survivor go back and forth in regards getting placed in a stronger position game wise, because on a fundamental level, buffs/nerfs are not being done solely on the basis of results that involve only solo gameplay, but rather SWF statistics are also being considered (because their is no way to track SWF matches separately so these game stats get mixed in with solo survivor stats, such as win rates/escapes, etc) I believe that because of this the basis on information the game gets patched on is arguably skewed.

That is unless I am wrong and they do indeed have a way to track premade game progress separately.

    @TheBean said:
Bascially... Leave the core of the game the way it is now. Add in the Ladder system the Devs mentioned awhile back. However, make it a seperate queue, solo only, and anonymous (meaning people can't see who or what is in their lobbies, in order to dodge).... Basically make it so you get big penalties if you dodge a ladder lobby.

There done... You get a Ladder Try Hard Queue for solo players... One that survivors can't dodge because they can't see if their friends are in the lobby or not. One that killers can't dodge cause they can't see anyone in the lobby but four anonymous survivors. They can try hard and compare all their stats together...

Then the casuals can stay in the current system which stays as is, other then the current buffing / nerfing actions that already happen.

Barely any changes to the system as is... They are adding in dedicated servers anyways.. with the talk of ladders... Just make it so you can't play SWF in the ladders and people who want to play regular games still can, and those who want to pit their skill on the ladder have a good / fair solo queue to do so.

I really like this idea! They could even go a step further and make a SWF only ladder, where for example you need to be premade with at least 1 other player. This would also give killers who enjoy the extra challenge a chance to test their skills.

  • @ Okapi:

I completely agree that solo survivors are getting the short end of the stick in this case, and I take your point about 4 man SWF's. I guess I was more so addressing the idea of proximity voice coms in game where the killer could also hear survivors, but that might have been suggested by someone else so sorry for the confusion! '^^

  • @Okapi said:

    @SenzuDuck said:
I think the point he's trying to make is that people want the game balance solely around the chance that there is a 4Man on comms. They don't care about the 2/3 mans.

But if you add voice chat in game everyone will be on coms. Sure you'll get people who wont talk but at least you can tell them stuff like the killer's location, totem placements, gen statuses that as a solo player you would be unable to do.

If people want to play as a team with voice coms the game should balance around that. Not doing so is asking people whom play killer to have a not fun time.

Only issue I see with this is how to correctly implement it? For example what would stop premades from choosing to simply not use the in-game voice coms and just stick to discord where they can continue to share game info privately?

  • Thanks for all the positive feedback guys. Is there a submission forum for the questions that the devs answer from when they do their Q+A streams or do they just choose randomly from the most upvoted threads? Seems might be worth a sub?

  • @SIlentCetra said:
I don't see a problem with the hatch, and it doesn't seem a majority of people do from poking around the forums. That said, your idea is NOT a bad one. It still keeps the ultimate decision up to the surv, and then they can choose whether or not to gamble on finding the hatch and making it through it--or just taking the W.

    I could get behind this

Yeah I guess it's not a huge problem or anything more so just a personal preference, as at that point in the game I like to get cracking on the next match! Cheers for the feedback!

  • @HatCreature said:
Maybe a way to fix this is something like if 2 Survivors are left and a Gen has not been worked on for 2 minutes their Auras are exposed for 7 seconds, this way the Killer is no longer held hostage and someone will get killed and one can escape. But if they are doing Gens then this will never happen and bam, no problem.

Nice idea, definitely up for trying any mechanic to keep the game moving.

    @HellDescent said:
If I see that survivor has no desire to do gens and waiting for the hatch, I'll fast vault the window or make some other notification next to that survivor for the killer. After then he either will find you or him.

This honestly seems reasonable! Only two issues with this are if they are hiding behind something with no interaction (large rock for example), or if they are already hiding as the 3rd survivor is killed. Now you have to waste time finding them to flush them out rather than getting cracking on a gen.

    @Rebel_Raven said:
A reasonable minimum score should be necessary. They can do gens, break totems, get chased a lot, something.

Yeah some form of requirement would be nice.

  • @purebalance said:
This is why I think the hatch needs requirements. It's utter bs and I have to carry games constantly as a solo survivor. I did 3 of the gens and the person who did none gets to escape? bull

Yeah it can be seriously frustrating. I was thinking that maybe something like you have to have contributed x amount of gen meter completion to interact with hatch? This would at least force camping survivors to have to at least attempt late game gen's in order to escape. I dunno really.

    Gates are powered, i'm gone.

Same in most cases for me if they have NOED. If not I may try to pull off a cheeky save.

However, my post is more related to late game than end game (end game being defined here as once the gates are powered).

Map played: Mount Ormond, Asylum, Haddonfield, Badham, Lereys
    Additional details:
I have run the game in Ultra at 60 fps with no problems since I bought the game over a year ago. However with latest engine, I struggle to maintain 50+fps on average across all maps with the exception of the Ormond, which struggles to hold 40+ fps. Additionally the game now seems to run slower, with skill checks feeling choppy. I really don't want to have to drop my graphical settings especially seeing as my pc runs a number of more demanding games at 60fps just fine
