Shrug.
It's going to be very entertaining watching postgame when people complain that I didn't camp XD.

Im to laazy to address every point you made. But it want to say something about this:
- "Why are you focused on the person being insulted 'toughening up', rather than focusing on the person doing the insulting?
Because these people will bring use dumb stuff like a chat filter and other nonsense (which isn't even working) censoring everything. You will not see real genuine emotions and reactions anymore because everyone is fake nice to each other in fear to get banned for some trash talking. Besides it takes away something which is fun for others
You're actually arguing my case here - and I mentioned exactly this earlier.
It's not the people getting annoyed who are to blame if BHVR cracks down, Blizzard/Riot style. It's the people who are acting like howler monkeys in post-game. If they kept trash talking to a more meme-y, less obnoxious style, there would be no risk of a crackdown. And, looking at the recent player surveys - it could well go in that direction.
When someone's fun comes purely from making other people miserable, yeah - that's exactly where moderation is needed. It's why stuff like walling people in is bannable.

Yea telling someone to kill themselves is disgusting and supposed to actually harm people, saying gg ez is nothing like it means nothing.
You genuinely don't think players in scrums are trash talking each other on the field? 💀😂
Dbd isn't a professional setting, and that's something you're clearly missing.
On the field? Yeah, sometimes. But there's a world of difference between banter mid game between two opponents who both know each other and likely respect each other (and who, if things go too far, can easily file a complaint or get their teammates to intervene) and someone lobbing turdballs at someone else behind the safety of their monitor.
It's a false analogy I'm getting very tired of.
It's not a professional setting - sure. But it is still a community playing a competitive game. Making that community...not only more wholesome, but more welcoming to newer players is probably going to make the difference in the long run between this game plateauing and declining, or continuing to be popular. Because, as older players burn out, you need to bring new blood in.
As I said earlier, look at World of Warcraft and how it's just getting...pantsed by Final Fantasy these days - with one of the primary reasons being that the WoW community is almost as poisonous as the DbD community, and FF is really friendly and pretty damn wholesome, community wise.
This resulted in Blizzard going way too far in the other direction, and moving towards a ridiculously over-moderated approach to the community.

My comment started with "death threats are not the same as gg ez" and you opened with "the intent is the same". You're implying they're similar in meaning.
Anyway I'm not having this conversation with a bunch of people that get upset over things I've heard said at a children's football game.
"GG ez"
"Noob"
"My 4 year old sister plays better than you"
😂🤭
I...are you sure you know what 'intent' means?
I'm honestly not sure.
I'm saying that both of these things are intended to make someone more frustrated and unhappy after a bad game - someone is trying to extract enjoyment from making someone else miserable.
Also - what the hell football games are you watching? Because, even at the college level, you'd probably get a fine or a suspension for being unsportsmanlike. I remember one of our local players got benched for several games because he refused to shake hands after the match.
Kids sports - I've seen players and even parents ejected for far less.

Did you really say telling people to kill themselves is the same as "gg ez" 😂💀
This forum is hilarious.
No...no I did not. And the fact that you're saying that...why strawman?
I'm saying that being nasty isn't a good thing, and when you're nasty the fault lies on you to fix yourself, not on people to ignore you. Because that's not how human beings work as a species.

So now that devs have shown they're willing to trim maps up with the RPD rework when is Red Forest and Shelter Woods getting the same treatment? It would pretty much solve the biggest problem the game has with map size and the problem with both those maps having way too many dead zones. Also when I say Red Forest I mean Mother's Dwelling I actually feel like Temple is mostly fine.
Eh.
I'm okay with big maps.
The problem comes when maps are both big and incredibly dense/safe.
Mother's Dwelling is the only problem map in those two tilesets I can think of offhand.
Eyrie now...Eyrie needs some changes.

I promise you, the intent is not to harm.
Yes, there are people who say "gg ez" with malicious intent, because the act of putting someone else down is self-soothing.
But there are also people who say "gg ez" because the game left much to be desired. Like a person going back for second helpings, the act of taunting and jeering often elicits a stimulating response that satisfies those who felt the game was unsatisfactory.
For the latter group, offending people is collateral damage, not the objective itself. There is an acknowledgement that certain words and phrases (such as 'gg ez') are inherently harmless, but are capable of triggering reactions. The intent is to provoke like-minded individuals who get a kick out of this sort of banter, and have the conversation escalate from there. People who engage in this sort of behavior assume that those who can't tolerate it will ignore them or remove themself from the situation.
In this particular example, OP should immediately recognize that his opponents are not interested in engaging in meaningful conversation. Instead, OP chooses to entertain his opponents, in-turn signaling to them that their behavior is tolerable/welcomed.
If I was one of the survivors in this situation, and OP said "hey, no need to pour salt on the wound," my immediate response would be something to the effect of "you're right, i'm sorry. have a good day, gl next," or even extend the olive branch and try to learn a bit about them. Because, as I've tried to convey thus far, I'm not looking to put people down, I'm just looking to engage with other people that find this sort of behavior entertaining.
Whether or not the intent is to harm, I concede that the behavior is entirely self-serving.
Yeah, it is. And you're agreeing with me here - just without realizing it. Because the 'stimulation' you seem to require to enjoy yourself comes from making other people even more frustrated and miserable after a tough game.
On the other hand, saying something like 'well tried' or 'that game was cursed' is likely to at least leave them feeling a little better about themselves - and believe it or not, will actually leave you feeling better too. Because you're showing respect, not just for their effort, but for the game as a whole.
That is the objective - sorry, I don't believe you when you say 'I'm just seeking out people who enjoy being nasty...to be my friends...by being nasty to them...' yeah, no. That's not how people work. If you were after like minded people, there are plenty of other avenues to find them. Not to mention the whole mea-culpa 'no, if someone demeans themselves sufficiently I'll extend an olive branch'...ugh. No. That definitely rubs me up the wrong way, it's textbook bully.
If you are telling the truth, there's an interesting little legal concept called 'due diligence' or, in some quarters, 'foreseeable harms'. Basically, even if you do not intend to inflict harm, if your actions are - as per the judgement of a hypothetical reasonable person - likely to cause harm, then you are responsible for that harm. Obviously, 'harm' is a tricky word here as we're talking about an online interaction, but that's generally the language used, and it's applicable here in a moral sense, if not a legal one.
Basically, you're either being a sadist, or you're being willfully negligent with much the same outcome.
Either way - not healthy for anyone involved.

Okay then so look at the new Haddonfield. Should be change that too"? The only difference between that and RPD is it's just OPEN with houses and perfect for survivors
Huh?
New Haddonfield is a million times better than the old one, which had - for a good while - an actual infinite.
The new one has some strong loops in the structures, but some risky gens and dead zones. I like it on both survivor and killer.

- Spirit. These tend to be fun, different games.
- Plague. Another killer that has a unique style.

I don't like it, I won't do it unless I'm provoked.
That said, this is a mechanical issue with the game, not a playstyle issue. Often, the easiest route to a win is slugging, and it's not the killer's fault that BHVR designed the game like this.
Hell, you even have killers like Twins who are forced to play a slug-heavy style.

Nice assumption. Killer main who slugs for 4k detected.
No, he's not wrong.
Slugging isn't much fun for the killer either.
You do get some bad actors who just want to ruin the game for others (Knockout is one of the most obnoxious things in this game to play against in Solo), but I know that I'll only bleed people out if they really annoy me, and I suspect a lot of killers are the same.

Or you could just put them on the hook and then look for the last one. If they escape, darn, if you catch them, hooray! I've found it equally boring as killer to leave someone on the ground and hope the last one comes along and take one of the most obvious baiting tactics in the game. Your best bet would be to work on that skill level.
It depends on the tone of the match.
If the other side are highly skilled and coordinated, bringing the best perks, items and offerings they can and using all the tools of the map to win, then I'm going to do the same. No holds barred.
If the other side are playing more chill, then I'll play more chill too.

Grabbing healthy survivor should not be a thing. It just enforce killers to camp even more. I am being camped 1 out of 3 games if I am lucky and this mechanics does not help at all.
Camping Bubba is nothing new but when killers like clown camps me on 4 gens and than they get another 2 down just by grabbing healthy survivor and immidiatly dropping them just does not even slighty feels fair to me.
I agree with this.
Unhook grabs are silly, and the little 'dance' you have to do is really just rolling the latency dice and hoping you don't roll a 1.
I don't see why it can't just be removed.
-
@drsoontm said:
Is it wrong to hide from the killer and wait for the others to die when finishing the gens feels like certain death?
Context:
It was Coal Tower, playing Huntress. At the start of the trial I identified the survivor spread and opted to go for a 3 gens. The game goes on, one dies, 3 are on death hook and I have my gens on the opposite side of he tower and a line of sight to all of them. My only down-side was that there were protections all around. The survivors have attempted several hit and runs but couldn't push fast enough and ultimately went down ... except one who stopped trying and stayed away after a run or two. That Claudette ended-up leaving through the hatch.
In the end game chat, the survivor I considered the most skilled of the bunch expressed her dissatisfaction with the unhelpfulness of that Claudette. Note that they all had a score in the 20k range and that without her escape, the Claudette would be third on the roaster.
Having been let down by teammates, I would usually agree with her however the alternative was pushing for a gen hoping to dodge the second hatchet and she already knew she couldn't do that well enough.
So, although on the cowardly side, wasn't this the only good choice she could do?
'Wrong'?
Depends how you want to use the word.
In one sense, yes - she wasn't playing to the 'spirit' of the game, in that she stopped trying to win and instead played to stall, in the hopes of getting hatch (or, more likely, just to BM the killer - it's not uncommon for survivors to play hide and seek when they 3gen themselves).
In another sense, no - she wasn't exactly violating the rules of the game.
If I had been that Claudette, I'd have done my best to win - and if that means taking an L and moving to the next game, so be it.

End game chat and the forums are two different things, there is no competitiveness on the forums, a match isn't being played, literally every video game allows slight digs at people, considering this game is for like 16+ I think we can get over someone calling us bad or saying their 4year old sister could play better, lol.
It's not the 'slight digs' that are the problem.
'Get over it'...ugh. See, this - right here - is the attitude that annoys me. Because you're shifting the blame from the person going out of their way to try and make someone else feel unhappy, and instead blaming the person for reacting like a human being and not being numb.
People are supposed to feel bad when someone says something like that. Of course, there is such a thing as being oversensitive, but having no reaction whatsoever when someone is a butt after a fair, hard fought game - I'm not sure if that's healthy.

Death threats are a little different to "gg ez", and yes death threats should absolutely be actioned on but terminating someones account over GG EZ would be ridiculous.
I give you props for trying to imply I would want that kind of language to pass by simply because I don't think what's in OP should be bannable, also I literally have a recording of a streaming going live and getting banned after I report I made, do you know what they said in EGC to get banned? "I killed your friend because they're gay". They were given a 3 day suspension, afaik BHVR work on a 3 tiered system, 3 days, 1 week, perma'd. So just because someone said something to you and wasn't immediately banned does not mean they were not punished for it.
The intent is the exact same.
You're using the protection of your monitor to lob nastiness at other players in the hopes that you can upset them, and make them enjoy the game less.
This almost always comes from a position of hate - and why certain forms of hate are tolerated and some forms aren't...that's a bigger discussion.

Insulting and trash talking are not completely the same. "you don't have to" lol buddy there is a lot of things people don't have to do. Like playing games. Having a computer. Discussing on forums. That's not point.
Also you not liking is fine. But that doesn't mean everyone is obligated to full fill your likings. The world is tough. If everyone would be tough we wouldn't have to debate this miniscule thing
What you are describing isn't toughness.
Being 'tough' isn't being inhuman. Tough people aren't unfeeling, they can just push through.
Two things though.
- What you are describing is being numb, to the point of masochism.
- Why are you focused on the person being insulted 'toughening up', rather than focusing on the person doing the insulting?
@drsoontm said:

That's sympathy.
People have given advice to try not getting so worked-up over something they consider insignificant.
The simple fact people have replied instead of simply ignoring the thread is already a display of empathy.
Don't you understand that?
What are you trying to do asking if trying to help is wrong? Make people feel guilty by using a victim card argument of some sort? That would not be very nice.
If you're feeling guilty, it's generally because you know you've done something wrong.
Saying 'you're at fault for making me feel guilty for doing bad things' is something I'll never be able to get behind.
@Hes1hp said:
Some trash talking is absolutly normal in every single competitive setting. Even on live TV. You ever saw one of those press conferences where mma opponents sit together? They trash talk each other like no tomorrow.
It's entertaining in itself and funny. Bhvr was so kind to implement a feature to disable chat for those who can't handle words. It's better to use it if you can't handle words
I...think you've misunderstood something important here:
- Trash talking between opponents who know each other generally stems from a rivalry, and a rivalry inevitably involves mutual respect.
- It's almost always played up to the Nth degree for publicity's sake too - very seldom is it genuine.
- There is a massive difference between banter within a rivalry, and being nasty to a stranger. Esports organizations absolutely have suspended or penalized players for their behavior on Ladder - because they understand this difference.
- Other Esports organizations also do suspend or penalize players for trash talk in or after a match. Nina, for example, got tournament banned for trash talking PartinG - and this was widely criticized for being too lenient. Again, because there is a difference between some banter and being obnoxious - and people can usually spot the difference.
- The difference being - one is designed to 'play up' a certain kind of relationship, generally for the sake of publicity and drama, and the other to upset or disrespect an opponent.
- Trash talk after a game, especially involving strangers can only be the latter.

You know that you're making other people miserable. Otherwise - you wouldn't do it...
You completely misunderstand me.
You might just have to accept that this is a character trait you'll never understand, because I don't think you're going to believe what I'm about to say next...
I have multiple gaming friends whom I've known for 5+ years now, whose first interaction with myself or another one of my friends was trash talking--saying things significantly worse than what OP captured in his screenshots. Whether it was during a game or after, both parties hurled insults at eachother, one thing lead to another, and then next thing you know they're in our Discord becoming great friends with everyone. Fast forward several years, and these same guys are meeting up IRL for ski trips, bar crawls, etc.
Not everyone is going to respond to this kind of banter the same way, and that is fine--different people draw the line at different places. But why should I have to draw the line at 'gg ez' because you refuse to accept that there wasn't an intent to harm?
The intent to harm is plain though. The only reason to say 'GG EZ' is to rub salt in the wounds of someone who's probably had a really tough game. There is no positive or neutral intent there, because otherwise you would have said something positive or neutral, or said nothing at all.
The only intent is to belittle someone and make them feel worse about the loss. It's understandable why someone might need to dump a bit of salt when they lose, but 'bad winner' is really just another name for 'bully'.
As to your friends...yeah, I frankly don't believe it. I can't prove it's rubbish, and I doubt that you're going to be able to prove to my satisfaction that it isn't.
However - I've been a gamer since PvP was something you did at arcades because dial-up wasn't even a thing yet. I'm now still a gamer, and in my 40s.
I've never once seen a genuine friendship bloom over someone being nasty to a stranger, either in real life or online. I've seen plenty of banter, but amongst people who are already friends. The only relationships I've seen form out of interactions like this are either delusional (see: mild to moderate forms of Stockholm syndrome) or sycophantic.
But okay, let's accept that your...pretty outlandish story is true, for the sake of the argument. Keep in mind I'm speaking generally here, I don't know you or your situation.
This creates two possibilities, looking at this from a basic psychosociological perspective.
- Unpleasant people tend to cluster together. This is why the schoolyard bully usually has a posse of followers and me-tooists. These all tend to be, when you get under the crust, deeply unhappy, deeply discontented individuals - and they project this outwards, often without even realizing it.
- People attempt to 'suck up' to the schoolyard bully, in the hopes they're left alone - or, on some occasions, because they want to be the schoolyard bully, and this is the closest they are going to get.
I'm not your therapist, but maybe give it some thought, in addition to why you need to make other people unhappy in order to gain enjoyment from gaming. Because it's not healthy for you, or other people.
The only reason someone derives joy from the suffering of others is - again - personal issues, generally discontent/helplessness in their own lives, and this can quite often be amazingly deeply repressed. Well, okay, and neurological issues, but that's a different topic entirely.

What else can you do? Behavior says this behavior is fine. Of course they are wrong, but it is not like I have any input here.
They've been bandying around a 'good sportsmanship' incentive for a while now, and I think they'll go that way.
Because I know for a fact that when I attempt to get people to try, the two things that put them off are:
- The initial grind and investment.
- The notoriously awful community.

It is a common misconception that people like myself behave this way to make others miserable.
It is sensationalist behavior--seeking nothing more than a reaction.
Don't think I speak on behalf of those who make personal and intolerant comments.
While I might see little wrong with the behavior OP shared, I do recognize a line that can't be crossed.
Some people do come from a place of ignorance and hatred when they make comments in-game, but it is unfair to put us all in one box.
I don't expect you to understand. I just want to make you aware that this behavior is a form of entertainment for some people.
Trash-talking predates modern history, so it's not like this is a new phenomenon. I expect those who can't tolerate a simple 'gg ez' to acknowledge their limit and mute chat--it's a tough pill to swallow, but we can't ask society to walk on eggshells because of our own short-comings.
OP had multiple opportunities to leave the conversation, and instead stuck around the poke the bear. It's hard to garner sympathy when the whole situation is completely avoidable.
Here's the thing though.
You know that you're making other people miserable. Otherwise - you wouldn't do it, you'd say something funny or outrageous instead, if all you were after is amusing reactions.
This isn't attention seeking.
It's...sadism. Bullying. Extracting enjoyment from upsetting people from a position where they have no way to strike back.
That line is subjective. What matters is more the intent - you're taking a chance to kick someone while they are down, and try to take them from feeling defeated to feeling useless. I don't see why you think this is something worth defending as a moral good.
And yes, it's 'entertainment' for those people, but there are lots of things online that people do for 'entertainment', and that doesn't mean that they are universally acceptable.
Believe it or not, I do understand - the psychology of bullying is something I'm quite familiar with.
There's also a difference between trash talking and being obnoxious. Trash talk is generally mutual, between two opponents who know each other, and occurs before the match.
What you are describing is more like slapping someone's hand away at the end of a hard fought match when everyone else is shaking hands. I'm not sure it should be bannable (I certainly wouldn't be sad if it was though) - I'm more in favor of a system to award good sportsmanship, because your community is, after a certain point, what determines whether your game is niche, or popular. And most people don't want to have to deal with the butts.
It's one of the reasons why FF is flattening WoW these days, and why Blizzard are now going too far in the other direction - which tends to be what happens. Minor toxicity becomes major toxicity, people leave, then - rather than a few tweaks, the developers go for the nuclear option.

It doesn't imply, but it does suggest. Because you can select people for your SWF, and easily remove them forever after if they don't perform. It's why 'be good' is the condition of so many PUG SWFs I see going these days.

Call it childish, call it immature, call it whatever you want. It is therapeutic to many people, and it is a dopamine kick that gets players motivated to queue for another round, even if that last game was absolutely brutal.
I don't see anything in your image that has been deemed socially unacceptable within the gaming community. So unless you expect BHVR to set the gold standard for online behavior in gaming, your issue is with online banter as a whole.
If you rather support a company that is trailblazing low tolerance of this particular behavior, I unironically recommend playing League of Legends. While it has an awful rep for being insanely toxic, it is pretty clear to me that Riot takes themself very seriously in this regard, and they are making strides to reverse the stigma that has been associated with their game.
There's banter, and then there's being a gigantic bully and kicking people when they are down.
You don't need to have the gold standard.
Just...some standards would be nice. I don't know why people like yourself support making other people miserable unnecessarily online - to me, that speaks to severe personal issues that you'll have to deal with sooner or later. Because this stuff always escalates.
Franky, if this sort of player quits - good damn riddance.
It isn't 2008 anymore. People get turned off by terrible communities. Hell, I remember League of Legends before and after Tribunal, and it was...oh, just so much better.

I've been in games of league where people legit call each other the N word among other slurs and none of them get banned.
The level of toxicity that goes on there and what you shown are nowhere close to the same. I know you say you don't like hearing it, but for real, you need to grow thicker skin if what you screenshotted genuinely bothers you.
Again, just close the chat
Yeah, they absolutely do get banned for it. League's automated tribunal is even more fussy than the player driven version. It just escalates, so you get a warning, then 1-3-7-14-perma.

You should use a dictionary so you understand the actual meaning of the words you use. They sound pretty but you make no point. 1000x or 10000x… The number of meaningless, easy killer games is vastly greater than 4 man SWF games. And I hazard the number is somewhere between 1000 and 10000. You can try to deflate the point by ridiculing it but it remains true. And “pseudo-profundity”. Lol. You like that one but please, my eloquent friend, explain how the original subject is false.
Then I'm sure you'd be able, to...you know - easily prove it?
I mean, you clearly have stats that we don't have access to, so - is BHVR a nice company to work for?
Or...are you making stuff up?
Because, in no universe is 'it's true' an argument. That, my friend, is called circular reasoning. And that's why people are poking fun at you.
Original subject - easy peasy.
Go watch some decent SWFs play, or the recent HCS. If survivors are decent, they can still absolutely pants killers.

Let me tell you, back in 2017 or so, people used to play this game way more than now, as in... normally without destroying others experience.
It's been like this since 2019 or so, something changed but I never said anything, others have including you.
It got popular. Which means more people, which means a less tight-knit community, which means more butts.

I decided I would try to keep track of how many games as a solo q player are "normal". That means nobody dcs/kills themself on first hook, nobody is afk. Out of 9 games today I've had 2 normal games. I think dbd is an extremely fun game when the game is normal and people are just trying, it's just insane how rare it is to have those kinds of games. I don't understand why the issue is so much worse in this game than others but it's ridiculous you can play for 2 hours and just have 2 games that resemble everyone trying to play the game.
And no joining a swf should not be a requirement to resemble having any fun in the game. I'm going to just be playing more killer and other games but once again it's unfortunate that a game that should be fun is ruined by so many people giving up instantly.
I've seen about as many DCs before and after the patch.
Ie. 'too many'.
The issue is that the DC penalty doesn't escalate fast enough and decays too fast, and there's no system in place to detect people suiciding to smurf down their MMR.

The last Q&A was six months and in the last three months a big antinurse movement appeared in the community and everybody agrees that she needs to be nerfed (the nerf to the range addons are not enough) or reworked (except for the 5 or 6 guys that are in a personal crusade to defend nurse in every thread).
We need a Q&A to know your position about this killer.
My guess is that they don't balance this game around the top MMRs, and - looking at gross kill rates - Nurse is the worst killer in the game.
Not that they should be balancing around lower MMRs (cough Wraith, Cenobite) but if they are going to nerf killers because they are overperforming at lower MMRs, why not buff killers that are underperforming at lower MMRs?
That seems fair, doesn't it?

A ping wheel on a short cooldown (1-3s or so) to prevent spam. The pings only allow preset messages so people can’t say dumb nonsense. Eg, "being camped", "do this gen", etc.
Could improve it even further by adding some automation. Eg, if a chase starts, it automatically pings "in a chase" or something so you don’t have to manually do it.
It's a cute idea, but I'm not sure how much it would do.
The issue in solo isn't communication, it's cooperation and coordination. And you aren't going to force that Meg hiding in the bushes to do gens no matter how much you ping her.

This is what i don't understand. being annoyed with changes is perfectly understandable, but review bombing is straight up throwing a tantrum. Both sides have certainly had their share of dark times and game breaking bugs, but this reaction is peak entitlement. Reviews are supposed to be based on your overall experience, not a current state of a shifting game. You can include that information in a review, but thats not the same at all.
It's this.
A tantrum.
It's a bunch of people pouting because killers can at least stand a chance against SWFs at their MMR.

Wat. No, it absolutely isn't. Aim for the killer's 'chin', and you'll get it 100% of the time.
You can at least fake a break to bait a pallet flashy. A locker flashy is 100% uncounterable if they want to abuse it. Hell, I can do it and I'm terrible at flashlight saves.

Blight - meh. Depends on his addons. Remember - addon sustain went down hard in 6.1.0.

Maybe things would change if people would stop giving BHVR money.
Too bad the community won't do anything to change things. Find another game, take a break, and do other things. There's other games to play, some of you make this game your life and you really shouldn't have.
(I am not attacking anyone but this community is confusing as hell and if people think the game design is #########, then why give them more money and your time when you know they really don't care what you think?)
Because:

@kisfenkin said:
Every killer that is doing this is cheating the system.
How?
First, you stop yourself from getting higher MMR. This makes the next group easier to kill than you deserve. Rinse and repeat.
Second, you stop BHVR from being able to balance the game properly. They can't tell that you let the last one go. The numbers think you failed to kill the last one. BHVR proceeds with balance thinking that your killer and your build aren't capable of 4k, when in fact they are.
Finally, now you know those two facts. You are not doing it out of kindness. They aren't benefiting from your benevolence nearly as much as you are. That's greed and selfishness, not kindness. You can SAY you are doing out of kindness, but that was before, when you were ignorant that you are actually benefiting more than the survivor.
Hahaha what?
Dude, giving hatch has been etiquette since as long as I can remember. The game's inception, maybe.
If you don't, you get salty people telling you off in postgame.

All the good anti tunneling mechanics are trash now. DS literally did me 0 good - the Blight caught up to me before I could run 5 steps. The basekit BT is laughably easy to counter - just wait 5 seconds. BBQ doesn't offer a bonus anymore so no one runs it - which is a shame since it encouraged people to leave hook. Combine all this with 50 extra seconds of gen time per game and the killer is absolutely incentivized and rewarded for camping/proxycamping/tunneling.
The counters to tunneling:
- OTR.
- Teammates.

Just because one is left, doesnt mean he lost. Otherwise make the game 3vs1.
1 Survivor should still have the chance to win and shouldnt be impossible.
Also in most cases, survivors do something. Maybe you dont see it.
Doing Totems, healing others or hiding while in terror radius (which litterly gives points) isnt doing nothing. And the reason for proof is simple, not every killer playing sees everything.
Also for @topic, i dont think killers should automatic win when the timers run out. Killers slugg too to find the last survivor instead of just hooking him to "end" the game. Also some killers can do things to keep the game hostage.
It should result in a draw.
Also having endgame collaps and still needing to do gens? ######### no. Endgame collaps always powers gates. Simple as that.
Sigh.
Okay, firstly - don't whatabout. Plus, I don't think killers can take the match hostage anymore.
I've had multiple groups literally go from locker to locker, occasionally touching a bone to not get crows. They aren't playing to win, they are sulking because someone DC'd, or they 3genned themselves.
@Biscuits said:

According to the developers (you can go back and watch the steam) this is a 1v1 1v1 1v1 1v1 game. If the killer is slugging in a situation with 2 of us left, the worst thing I could do to survive myself, would be to continue doing a gen or immediately try and pick up the survivor. In both cases the killer would find me and kill us both. However, if I hide and see what the killer is doing, that gives me a chance to capitalize on a mistake to where I myself get to escape or I manage to save the person on the ground. Either way, the worst possible options as soon as the killer downs the other person, is to continue doing a gen or trying to pick him up.
The people saying this is a team oriented game, are killers trying to get you to make a mistake so they can get free hooks. While early game it is in your best interest to keep teammates alive so gens get done faster. There are many times where being altruistic will only lead to your own demise.
Why did you leave the context of this quote out completely?
They are specifically talking about this in terms of the matchmaker.
Survivor is a team role.
@Biscuits said:

I would love to sit down with a developer and ask them what a survivor should do in a situation where the killer is slugging for a 4k and the killer is camping the body while proxying gens. I have a feeling their answer would not be to your liking.
How are they keeping 3 people slugged whilst also patrolling gens?
I think you're talking about a hacker here, because I don't think any killer can actually do this. Just have people crawl off in different directions.
Also - your posts in this thread are probably the best example of the Just In Case fallacy I've seen in a year.

Simple reason teammates don't crouch your on a hook a teammate won't crouch even saving them basically facing Hag in solo q sucks because of the fact no one crouches near important areas or obvious trap zones when not in chase.

Traps aren't about crouching. They are about triggering them intelligently, at their maximum radius and then legging it.

She has to be the worst killer in game from a gameplay perspective. She is the only killer that I actively avoid playing because the just hold w to counter her power just makes her gameplay loop so boring. You can't even use her power when the survivors counter her properly at least with most other killers you can use there power to still somewhat effect the game but with artist you place a bird and the survivor runs to a different loop and you have to walk over and repeat the process. To use her power out of loops you have to hit up to 4 different skill shots just to down so unless your a really good artist her power is just mute.
I do find it more fun to play against her but it is still boring. I hope they give her some kind of rework or serious tweaks because she's one of the few top tier killers that no one plays because she's just boring to play as.
I completely disagree with this assessment.
- Trapper exists.
- Onryo exists.
- Artist is...upper A tier, pushing into low S tier in the right hands. She's been one of my favorite killers from the start, only held back by her meh addons.
A few tricks:
- Run Discordance. Line up staggered triple bird volleys, you will hurt people.
- If they hold W, you can often tag them with one bird then hit them with a full volley. Tar helps.
- At the highest level of Artist play, it's all about putting down crows and then pushing people into them to injure.

@SuzuKR said:
On several occasions, you have stated that hiding and refusing to attempt to repair generators while the hatch has not spawned (thus making it impossible to start Endgame Collapse) is against the rules because it is refusal to participate in normal gameplay and holding the game hostage. You have stated it needs a video report and can be potentially bannable on a case-by-case basis. That is all fine and dandy.
However, for the one stuck in that game, there is no good solution that currently exists in the game's base line. If a person does not happen to play a killer or run perks/add-ons that would have helped in this situation (eg, Doctor, Whispers, Iron Maiden, etc), they are just screwed. Survivors who intentionally hide in this manner also intentionally avoid AFK crows from spawning by walking/crouching around/swapping lockers/etc to give no possible information if the killer isn't lucky enough to be close by at the time to hear breathing or locker door sounds or whatnot.
Are there any plans to make some sort of in-game feature to deal with this? I am curious to hear on that, and if not, I would like to ask you to consider it, as it can end up in absurdly drawn out games of 10-20+ minutes of nothing being done and not being able to find anyone, especially on larger maps. It pretty much only gives an option of DCing, AFKing, or playing until one side finally gives up.
Yeah, I'd love this.
Not all of us record all of our games, and some of the most miserable experiences I've had in DbD are groups that do this from the start, or three people do it after an early DC.
@ByeByeQ said:
The solution is really simple. If a survivor does nothing to try to advance the game for some period of time they start getting crows. Maybe 1 at 90s, 2 at 105s & 3 at 120s. Any time they are spotted by the killer this timer is reset. If they cleanse a totem it resets the timer and can remove 1 crow. If they work on a generator their timer resets after working on it for 15s and they lose crows at a rate of 1 per 15 seconds worked or chased.
Crows should not be just for not moving.
Agreed.

Post-Game Chat Logs
Me: Why did you BM me?
Nurse: I didn't BM you. I was BMing your teammates
Me: How? They all left
Nurse: I thought you were SWF and they d/c'd for you to get hatch
I talked to the Nurse for like 3 minutes after this match. The vibe I got was this person has a lot of bottled anger, and they assume the worst of survivors in every match. In their eyes, they earned the right to gloat because they prevented 4 sleazy survivors from creating their own win condition.
To be fair, yeah. There are some absolutely evil SWFs out there that aren't so much out to win, as to make killers hate the game. These experiences do stay with you.
The Nurse was a bit obnoxious, but the fault here lies with the ragequitters, not the killer.

No one wants to get camped and tunneled out at 5 gens with a Killer stacking 4 slowdown perks and get 8K points when the Grind for BP got way worse.
It's a Fox, Chicken, Corn puzzle in real time. If BHVR buff solos (outside of simple communication), it futzes with the SWF matchup. If BHVR buffs killers to be able to handle SWFs, it futzes with the solo matchup.
Very, very tricky to solve. Someone is going to lose out in the equation somewhere.

I really don't know, but I have 3 theories:
1. Bhvr's servers are just ######### right now because of the new system and stuff.
2. Because of just slightly long queue times, but much longer related to survs, most just think: "nah, just play Surv it's faster." + to play with friends theire is no other mode that is just real. Custom games don't count if you Literly only have 2 friends.
3. Nobody wants to sit for 15 minutes in search just for an unfun killer match vs most of the time "a bit but enough value of toxic" survivers or even worse a bully 4 man swf group.
For me it's mostly none of those because I do rift challange in switch between one I do as Surv and one I do as killer. But the killer ones are always over after one match and the survs ones I'm sitting in extrem cases Days on.
Edit: you know what: in my idiot logic I never thought about to much killers XD. You have a valid point.
This will get a lot better once the incentives are in and the initial tidal wave of people playing Wesker recedes.
It's...also not really anyone's 'fault'. The game needed a meta shakeup and a balance shakeup, and people don't like being nerfed, and don't like being on the greasy end of balance changes at any point.

I agree, ban bubba, i simply cant do gens when he camps, is very hard and demanding. Even if we make it to 1 gen left and 3 players, i simply cant loop or deal with him even if the map is full of resources and still safe loops (because he camped the whole match, has not break must pallets yet). Bubba is simply awful to play against, i wanna do the gens while he camps standing still, my chase dont last long because the map being full of resources is not enough, i want more safe loops against him. I agree
That's the problem.
Most high MMR people would just ban Nurse, Blight and Huntress - or whatever killers happen to be the strongest at that point in time. Which is why this would never work.
I'd ban Bubba (camping), Myers (TSP) and Nurse.

Okay, I get that towards the end of the match, survivors just want to escape, so they hide. Sometimes it is taken too far and they will hide for 30+ minutes in an attempt to get the killer to DC or give up.
However, I just had a match that took me 15 minutes to injure a survivor before other survivors started touching generators. How do I know this? Simple, Plague infection duration addons. I was running Hematite Seal and Prayer Tablet Fragment (110 seconds of an object being infected), and infected every single generator, and people only started to get infected after I downed a survivor after 15 minutes of searching. I only found them because I heard the sounds of lockers from them swapping between lockers to avoid crows.
Is it reportable? Frankly, I dont know. If a survivor was never found, there is a good chance that the survivors would still be hiding and would not touch generators. And again, the match elapsed 15 minutes before a single generator was even touched.
It is bannable, and allegedly they have banned for it in the past (it counts as taking the match hostage) but you'd need video evidence.

Data of seeing who is most banned will show if a certain killer is OP. If survivors don't enjoy playing against a certain killer their is an issue.

Firstly, no - they don't. I don't play scummy, and outside of a bit of EOGC camping (which I don't think anyone reasonable would have a problem with), I can't recall the last toxic Nemmy I faced.
Good survivors will know how to juke the tentacle perfectly, and will keep you at level 1 for ages (there's a reason why the extra mutation addon is his strongest). Unless you master the very tricky 'tentacle drag' technique, you rely constantly on waiting for vaults and pallet drops to get a tentacle strike.
Tentacle does work as a partial anti loop tool but he needs to hit you 3x.
Zombies are a dice roll. More often than not, survivors will blind them or destroy them with pallets, or they'll get stuck moshing against a tree somewhere. Sometimes you'll get a great zombie, but it's rare.
He's not Billy levels of difficulty, but he's certainly not an 'easy' or 'braindead' killer.

His tentacle hitbox is absolutely terrible, I'm on one side and it hits me in the complete opposite direction, and his zombies are a real pain to deal with. I just hope people drop Nemesis for good and play Wesker from now on.
Zombies? Get one of your teammates to grab a flashlight and they are useless.
The tentacle has the same problem as all other ranged attacks - it's incredibly subject to latency.
Sometimes you'll get hits that look like they missed. Sometimes you'll miss hits that looked perfect.
I really like playing against Nemmy. They tend to be memelords.
