    Hey, friends 😁

I've been thinking... with all the toxicity that our little community is famous for (and with how unique of a game we all commune over) I think that we need more positivity here to appreciate the game and developers that break their backs to maintain it and maintain our satisfaction. Say what you will about the state of the game or BHVR's choices, but I really do think that for every complaint made there is also some really good praises to be made, too.

In spirit of trying to be positive like this, this is what I ask of you:

Comment something about BHVR or DBD that you love!! Or just something that you greatly appreciate or respect!!

***Please don't kill my intentions here by being negative, we really do need more positivity in the world, much less our favorite game's forums. Start complaining or being toxic and I'll facecamp you while the other survivors point***

    Sure.

    • Dredge is such a well designed killer, I'm legitimately amazed.
    • Out of the last 6 chapters (including Wesker), 5 have been really good (Onryo was sad).
    • The audio design is incredible.
    • The meta has never been more varied than it is now.
    • While some people carp about it, SBMM has made such a positive impact on my experience it's difficult to fully articulate.
    • The visuals of new/reworked maps are beyond incredible.
    • While I don't agree with every change made, the game really is getting better and better as time passes.

It's been a long time since patch. And we had good time to use it or play against it.

So what are you thinking now? How Dead Hard is feels now? I am asking for both roles btw. Is it still good to use in trials as survivor? How it feels to play against DH users as killer?

    Honestly - yeah, I am.

I use it sometimes on survivor now, and while occasionally I get latencied (it should be 0.75, imho) it's a very solid perk and you can do some really crazy stuff - especially regarding bodyblocking.

On killer, it's still a strong perk - but it's no longer the obnoxiousness it was.

The scenario you described is a design flaw, and I'd advise killers with a bone to pick against such strats spend their time and effort fighting for change with BHVR, rather then settling their score against random survivors in future games.

...because i'm tired of getting roflstomped as a solo surv because killers are camping and tunneling first hook at 5 gens.

4 games today this happened, and in all 4 the surv on first hook had kindred. The info provided wasn't enough to help anyone escape in those 4 games.

    Shrug.

It's a design flaw that's been in DbD since...whenever MacMillan was released (the start?).

    It's not going to change.

I play to win. If I can play 'nice', I will - I generally go hard from the start and ease up if I start stomping. But if I'm getting hammered, especially when it's a stacked team, I'm taking the gloves off.

Whether or not Legion is strong is irrelevant. Mending simulator isn’t fun.

Eh, I think of it as a side objective, like Pig traps or Cenobite's box. Aside from that timesink, they have almost nothing going for themselves.

I will say that, for some reason, whenever I face a Legion I always end up with a ton of BP.

  • @Konnor24 said:

Simple question. Every single killer ive faced this week has face camped me or others in my game.

I wish this was hyperbole. But its drove me over the edge and ive uninstalled the game. And i dont think ill be coming back.

Weird thing is, i actually play killer more than survivor, so it seems im the last person left who just enjoys the game for hunting, downing and hooking instead of standing there staring at someone on the hook.

So legit question. What is the point in it? Is getting 11k BP while using cakes/BPS and ruining other peoples that important? Before the previous update, i noticed camping was getting more ramptant. I thought the update would make killers camp less. You really dont need to, at least i dont on the killers i play most (Nemesis, Freddy, Doctor, Plague). The update had made me far stronger and even if i dont get a 4k i feel like a threat now. But for the past week out of roughly 30 games i have seen killers face camp at least 28 of those games (at 4/5 gens still to be done might i add)

I dont care about camping end game, it has to be done sometimes. But at 4/5 gens left? Or when 3 gens pop but you still have a 3/4 gen easy patrol?

Im not even the one being camped 9/10 times. But it infuriates me that so many are doing this. 5 years on this game and i have never seen it in a worse state. I like playing with my friends, but out of our group of 14 only 3 play. Well, 2 now that im gone.

My rant aside, please, tell me, why do you need to face camp with 4/5 gens to go other than to be a complete asshat to others?

You're either so unlucky that you should probably start playing the lotto (that luck is going to turn, hard) - or you're exaggerating.

    @Mr_K said:

I haven't had one killer facecamp me or other survivors this week.

I've had two, at the start. A Bubba and a Ghosty.

I see occasional others camping, but it's almost always EOGC.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

This is very subjective of course but still I wonder what is the most boring killer for you and why?

Myers - because it's always TSP, and it's great fun losing the entire match because one person made a small mistake and got hit once.

    Bubba - obvious reasons.

Legion - I don't mind the mending, I just face so many that I get bored.

    @IlliterateGenocide said:

Boring, legion. Horrible killer design complete snoozefest. And what really sucks is that there is no way they can change how annoying they are without doing a Freddy level rework

    @Taxman232 said:

    Legion or Bubba

Legion because Mending simulator 2.0 and Bubba because they are usually sweaty hook campers which never makes for a fun game.

    @GannTM said:

Legion. It doesn’t help I play against them way too often.

I actually don't mind playing against Legion. If you can make them whiff once, they are useless. The only time I really hate them is on DDS, because the map is so tiny that it's almost impossible to avoid multiple frenzy hits.

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

Usualy I see negative energy towards Nemesis from Survivors. Why?

I must say I haven't seen any more BM towards Nemmy than other killers - and I get way more hate on Trickster, Hag, Cenobite, Legion and weirdly enough, Demo.

    @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/340871/why-people-dont-like-playing-againts-nemesis

Because his tentacle hit box at times is worse than a huntress hatchet

It's never fun being hit/downed when the weapon clearly didn't touch you

This cuts both ways though - I think there's some funny latency at times where I'll sometimes hit people that I should have missed by a mile, but there are also times where I'll land a hit and it doesn't register.

  • @VicRatlhead said:

I've been thinking about this. If the same survivor keeps getting caught it's tunneling right? Is tunneling only if killers abandon or ignore chase on one survivor for their chosen tunnel? Like it has to be intentional right? Or is it just that survivors fault for getting caught.

I think the really terrible thing about tunneling that killers don't get is that a survivor tunneled out is likely only going to get 5k BP and that's if they were lucky. If they brought an item with add-ons they lose them and they can easily be worth over 9k BP. A net loss.

I've played killer against bully squads. Is it a bit degrading getting repeatedly stunned, blinded and so on? Sure, but I'm in the entire match. I'm going to get 15k or more BP regardless of how much I get beat up.

I think tunneling really is something people have a right to complain about.

Tunneling, to my mind, refers to basically going for one person the second they are unhooked, and focusing them out.

It's not finding that person by accident, having them run into you, hooking them after you hook someone else.

    @KayTwoAyy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3130571#Comment_3130571

Patrol gens, instead of tunnel survivors, and your survivors wont tunnel gens.

If your complaint is that too many survivors "tunnel gens," then you're complaining about a problem that you have created yourself.

    Here's the issue.

You log onto Trickster. They bring an Eyrie offering, fat toolboxes with 4x BNP, PTS and you get unlucky on spawns. They split up, with 2 to a gen.

By the time you reach them, even if you start moving towards the correct gen immediately, it's easy to lose both gens.

Those are the games where, yeah - I'm not going to play nice. Because you know what you did.

The issue is that some people will tunnel on a stacked Nurse, on Midwich, on the first down.

    @VicRatlhead said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3130614#Comment_3130614

Is that a problem with the system then? A killer can have a rotten game and be rewarded. I mean I've had games where I get wrecked by the survivor team and get decent points. Why is it that a killer can play horrible and get rewarded while the survivor gets hosed?

Survivor BP does need a buff...sort of. I've suggested that time spent on a hook works the same as a chase, where you get credit for stuff that is done while you are occupied.

That said - survivors can quite reliably get completely free addons via chests and chest addons. I know I'll sometimes run PI for this exact reason, I'll almost always find at least 1 useful item in every match, and if I escape 1 in 2 matches, I can build a decent little collection as I go.

Killers don't have that luxury. Which is something to also consider.

    @VicRatlhead said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3131130#Comment_3131130

No offense but the tunneling gen mumbo jumbo is totally comparing apples to oranges. Tunneling a survivor knocks them out of the game with under 5k points. A killer would have to stand in the corner doing absolutely nothing to earn such subpar rewards.

I've let everyone go and still gotten over 25k. I mean, it's just completely different.

Unless the killer is literally tunneling you off the hook (see: camping), your team should be coordinating to bodyblock, interfere and save.

The only time I'll get sub 5k is when I get hard camped. And yes, camping needs a bit of a fix (hopefully Reassurance will help to discourage it).

Demo is what got me into playing DBD in the first place, his gameplay is super solid, he has anti-loop and chase shortening, map traversal, tracking, and best of all, 3-gen locking, i haven't played as much of him recently due to wanting to branch out to more killers and just not really playing killer in general, however, he does have 2 downsides, his addons are kinda crappy, i have no reason not to run the addons that decrease the cooldowns for landing shred and using shred to destroy pallets, and the other downside, shredding off of tall buildings sometimes just doesn't work, the Thompson House rework being the biggest offender by far, i understand why i can't shred off of the balcony and fly across the map, but that doesn't change that i goddamn want to

Lichen, Soda, Heart, Glasses are very good addons. About half of the rest are at least...useful.

SWF with 2 survivors left with 4 gens up. Honestly got some lucky downs. Couldn't find the last 2 for the life of me. All gens regressed to 0%. After a couple of minutes of zooming around the map I start walking by lockers to see if I can hear them breathing in them. About 2-3 minutes progress of me running around trying to find them and they're not getting the afk birds.

Finally, I decide to see if they're trolling in the back lockers in the basement and they were. I assume to not get flagged afk they were just going upstairs, working on the totem by the pallet door there but not completing it then walking back downstairs and going into the locke for whatever reason (to troll, to try to waste my time because I was winning, who knows). I know they weren't working on gens because they were all 0% as I zoomed around the map or healing each other because they were both uninjured so totems had to be the only way they were not getting flagged.

Is this an attempt of taking the match hostage regardless of what is going on since they are not trying to progress the game whatsoever?

It's one of those things that are technically against the rules, but:

    A. You need video.

    B. I've never seen/heard of anyone getting banned for this, even anecdotally.

Let's ignore all that and have a little chat about Hooked on you....at least for those who have played or intending to get it. (Myself included.) It's unfortunate that it doesn't have ALLLL the killers we want... (For whatever reason, the play-boy twinkster seems to be a fan-favorite.) BUT!

Which killer in DBD: HoY would you seduce and why?

With out a shadow of doubt, i'll lay my line here and die on this hill to say just like with Myers and David, I would definitely go for Trapper and as runner-up, Spirit. I'm shamelessly going to put it out there that the trapper in Regular DBD ain't that attractive but the change in HOY? Literal night and day difference, if there was a hook in HOY, i'd G L A D Y hook myself for him.

Spirit follows just about the same as Trapper, but with less thirst; primarily cause they gave her an interesting character that i would be more interested in discovering then thirsting over.

    Artist, probably.

Stop acting like this towards people that do nothing wrong.

Why are you gloating at someone you managed to annoy by abusing one of the handful of defacto infinites left in the game? Plus, Swamp is hell for Slinger and Nemesis, due to the extremely bizarre heightboxes there.

You can also just slug forcing 2 people off gens if they’re abusing spots where you can’t pick up.

If they’re clicking at you they aren’t getting any distance helping you even if it is a macro.

The issue isn't that it gives them an advantage.

The issue is that it gives me a massive headache.

I don't know if it's an exploit but here it goes

Barham preschool Dwight and Jake are the upset teammates the forcefully went to Badham for one purpose to be a bully squad putting on Boon: Exponential in the basement of the school with no basement there both brought in offerings to make this possible they set up the Boon and I realized this I get that "I shouldn't be a jerk to my team" but if it's a bully squad there are exceptions. So what do I do point out to the spirit the Boon totem they snuff it out and I cleanse the totem the Jake and Dwight do it again in the house with the totem in the basement same thing in the end I was left to die on hook but I was fine with it I would rather have both parties have some kind of fun then have the killer ripping out their hair because people use exploits(don't know if this counts as one).

    Sorry, but...what?

What do you mean 'in the basement of the school with no basement.'?

Then why doesn't anyone LOOOOOVE going into a 20 minute match against Legion with nothing but slowdown? Why? That's because its boring as hell and no one wants to spend that long in a match. This post is for those who try to defend a nerf by saying people will take the person hostage. Dude, no one, including me, wants to be in a match for over 20 minutes just because the killer is camping. No one is gonna troll someone on live servers. That excuse is used as a justifiable nerf is just stupid. The perk is fine. Just cancel it once the last gen is done and either rescue or leave. Someone said someone else took a killer hostage for like 30 minutes or something XD Like come on XD No one wants to be in a match with nothing but twiddling your thumbs for 30 minutes to spite a killer XD

On one hand, you can't balance the game around trolls. Reassurance is fine, frankly it should be a general perk not DLC though.

    However...

Tell that to the TTV group that refused to finish the final gen and just memed on me on Eyrie using a sabo to turn one spot in the map perma unhookable.

Or the group that sent me to DDS with a last second flashlight switch and stalled the game out forever with double saves.

Or the multiple groups that have decided to play hide and seek to stall the game out when they 3gen themselves.

Or the people who abuse the unhookable spot on (redacted) and (redacted) and force you to bleed them out.

I'm not even going to go into the week of hell where every third game was a group running pre-nerf Boil Over, Exponential, Unbreakable etc. with an RPD or IWOM offering specifically to force you to slug camp them out. You can go back a few months and find dozens of threads on this.

When did I say that you weren’t able to encounter more BM survivors? Don’t see that anywhere near my comment.

Killer BM and survivor BM aren’t even comparable to each other

Killer BM: Tunnel, Camp, Slug to death

Survivor BM: Crouch animation, flashlight clicking, flashlight blinding, doing the objective too fast, Engame T-bagging at gate.

Counter for Killer BM: Nothing unless you can loop for 5 gens, Nothing unless your with a SWF and if they’re Bubba you’re dying regardless, Unbreakable which you can only use once, don’t look at chat

Counter for Killer BM: It’s a crouch animation why are you bothered they’re giving you time to catch up, it’s a click animation they’re giving you time to catch up, Shadowborn and Franklins, Nurse, force them out by M1.

You're talking about two kinds of BM here.

The survivor equivalent would be stuff like double locker flashlight abuse, hiding to stall the game out forever, abusing spots where you can't be picked up etc.

Or, the killer equivalent would be stuff like hitting on hook.

Tell me, what is the counter to a group of survivors that switch to flashlights last second with a DDS offering, and stall the game out for an extra 10 minutes abusing double lockers?

Clicky macros give me an actual migraine.

I just had a match where I killed two survivors with 4 gens left. Both were hooked 3 times each and one of the two remaining survivors was on death hook and the other had been hiding during all match.

I've found the survivor that was doing objetives multiple times, but since I didn't judge fine letting him bleed out in the ground while the hiding survivor (that didn't touch a single gen for at least 5 minutes) live, I ignored the altruistic one and looked for him for at least 5 minutes.

The hiding survivor reported both of us for working together to find him.

What's your opinion about this? Mine is "yes, if karma applies".

According to the rules, probably not.

A killer has complete discretion as to how the game plays out. If they want to camp, they can camp. If they want to slug for the 4k, they can slug. If they want to 2 hook everyone and show mercy, that's up to them.

The only time the killer will get into hot water for playstyle is if they are targeting someone specific for reasons of discrimination based on 'protected' characteristics, like race.

The only situation like this that could cause issues for you are if you, as a survivor, are deliberately working with the killer against your team - and you'd need video proof.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3127940#Comment_3127940

It indicates that there's a grey area in that regard. Do killers not want to play against swfs because they're unbalanced, because solos are easier to play against, or because of the bully squad boogyman?

I agree that solos need help, and giving them the same level of information a swf has would significantly reduce the gap between solo and swf. Swf doesn't benefit from information they already have via comms.

Both of your suggestions sound fair. I can't really gauge MMR since I'm not sure if it even works in Australia.

I suspect that it's a 50%/10%/40% split. My own reasons for sometimes dodging an obvious SWF if I'm on a killer/build that I'm not especially comfortable on is definitely the third - numerous really, really bad experiences with SWF opponents (one of which resulted in me making my Steam profile private).

Here's what happens when you tell the killer they're playing against a swf: Lobby dodge.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3127904#Comment_3127904

Tournaments have different rules because there's prize money on the line and the rules apply to both survivors and killers. If you wanted to place restrictions on survivors, it'd only be fair for restrictions to be applied to killer as well.

If it's hard to get killers to play against SWFs, doesn't that indicate a problem, though?

SWF doesn't need to be 'nerfed', so much as solo queue needs help (in a way that won't buff SWFs - very difficult).

However, there are a few things that probably should be done to help make SWFs a bit less obnoxious.

    • If a survivor changes items or perks after the killer hits 'ready', the countdown is paused and the killer is unreadied. There's nothing quite like seeing a sudden switch to 4x flashlights without there being any way for me to switch to a counter.
    • People playing in a group gain a small, proportional inflation to their MMRs, depending on the size of the group. Say...1.1x for 2 people, 1.2x for 3 people and 1.4x for a full squad. This allows the communication advantage to be offset by a slightly stronger opponent, and also frees up killers at the original MMR point for solos.

For the next release of DBD, we're taking a look at the base issues of the game and reworking core mechanics to remove certain existing issues like camping, tunneling and slugging. These are concepts that make it frustrating for Survivors to play the game and Killers are heavily rewarded for doing so.

All issues described below are solvable with perks but perks shouldn't be the solution to core mechanic problems. It's like trying to fix an engine with nails. It does nothing and takes away the space players should have to experiment with other perks.

    7.0.0 Patch Notes

    Camping

    • Whenever the killer is within 10 meters of a hooked survivor, the hook timer is paused.
    • The hook timer is resumed while other Survivors are in the radius.
    • The effects are not applied if the exit gates are powered.

    Tunneling

The introduction of Borrowed Time to the base kit was a step in the right direction but it doesn't solve the issue for those Killers that really feel the need to tunnel. Fortunately, it's very solvable.

    • Increased the base-kit Endurance timer after getting unhooked from 5 seconds to 10 seconds.
    • Added Decisive Strike to the base-kit - lasts for 1 minute.
    • All effects are canceled if any Conspicuous Action is taken.
    • The effects are not applied if the exit gates are powered.

    Slugging

Ever been left to smell the grass on the ground for half a match or more? Everyone has and it's not very attractive. With these changes we hope to make slugging less rewarding.

    • A Survivor that is the dying state when another Survivor is put in the dying state has the ability to finish recovering himself.
    • The Survivor must have been left on the ground for at least 90 seconds to able to fully recover (95% takes 30 seconds without perks).
    • When getting up, the Survivor has the Endurance status effect for 10 seconds.
    • The effects are not applied if the exit gates are powered.

    Perk Changes

Since the effects of the perks below now belong in the base kit, they've been slightly changed to still be useful, specially at the end of a match.

    Decisive Strike
    • Adds extra time to the base-kit Decise Strike effect.

    UI CHanges

    • In the lobby screen (matchmaking and custom), all Survivors Perks are shown to each other.

None of the changes above modify how a match is played by a Killer that performs as expected and does not engage in toxic playstyles. With recent patches it's been harder than ever for solo queue players at higher ranks to be useful. Please keep in mind the game should be balanced for solo queue and not for the SWF minority.

There are definitely other changes that could be done perk-wise or UI-wise that would also help with how a game is played but I'd like to focus on these toxic/powerful mechanics the most.

    ---

Disclaimer: I'm not a BHVR employee nor are these notes the real deal. I just wanted to write them in a fun way that's easy to read.

    ---

    Share your thoughts.

I actually like most of these, with a lot of tweaks.

    • See below for the camping fix I'd use.
    • I...don't mind the idea of baseline DS, actually.

Showing perks in the lobby sounds good on paper, but in reality you'd just see people dodge lobbies if anyone doesn't have the 'right' perks.

    @Mandy said:

With regards to the point about hook timer being paused if the killer is nearby. This was something that was tested some years ago and found to not work - it's very easily abusable. A survivor running in an area around the hook, killer chasing - that would pause the timer for example. Which is something out of control of the killer.

Whilst I completely agree that players should be encouraged not to camp, I do not feel that punishing for camping should be the route we go down (please bear in mind this is purely my own opinion here)....it should still remain player choice whether they wish to camp or not.

The issue isn't so much camping as hard facecamping with specific killers that make unhooking nearly impossible due to their kits. Bubba, for instance.

What's odd to me is that this issue is totally fixed on some killers, who can't use their powers near hooked survivors. These killers tend not to be good campers, and, for the most part, this promotes a healthier playstyle on them.

Blah blah “buh Sadako!” blah blah

Really though, Hag is the most neglected killer of the bunch and no one likes playing against her because most Hag mains waste time trapping under the hook without even using Mint Rag. Seriously, she’s in a rough spot and arguably had a WAY worse falloff than Hillbilly after his nerf. She still relies exclusively on Corrupt to get the game going, her move speed is awful, her POV is somehow lower than launch Blight and Sadako, and half her addons are all over the place. Mint Rag and Rusty Shackles are broken. Mint Rag by itself just incentivizes Hag players to equip MYC, trap a hook, and then perform what is arguably the most unfun camping strategy which is a guaranteed death to the rescuer. Meanwhile you have Waterlogged Shoe which is the worst ultra rare in the game up there with PH goblet.

I like Hag. She’s fun. Good break from the chase killers. But no one likes her for these reasons and her entire kit hasn’t been updated in years. I have a couple recommendations. One being to remove her ability to trap under hook, considering Twins has that rule for whatever reason. Two being to add the ability to teleport with the shoe and severed hand since those are barely effective addons in the first place. I have other tweaks but they’re not well defined yet.

Please give the swamp monster love!

Yes, Corrupt is a requirement for setup killers, and Hag isn't the force of nature she once was - but she's absolutely fine.

I play a lot of Hag, but I don't trap hooks. I instead trap basically every junction and thoroughfare I can find, and it works pretty damn well.

About all she needs is some tweaks to her addons, as she's one of those killers that has a handful of good ones, a handful of boring but functional ones and a lot that are worse than an empty slot.

I do agree about hooks - all killers should have their power disabled near hooked survivors, honestly.

Has it? Where are you seeing these numbers?

From scouring the internet for when the developers released official stats, this is what I found

    2019 - 56.83%

    2020 - 56.21%

    July-Sept. 2021 - 53.83%

    Dec. 2021 - Jan. 2022 - 55.02%*

*- no aggregate number released so this is the median of the killer percentages given

From everything I've seen, kill rates have floated around the 55% mark. Did I miss a release information or are you going off your intuition here?

I should point out, I obviously don't agree with the original post and don't think any major changes should be based off simplistic kill rate numbers but I have a genuine interest in stats and would love to see them.

Unfortunately we'll likely never see those numbers.

The gross numbers were really just there for funzies - and it's frustrating how many people take them as any sort of reliable balance metric.

Not it's not. It's significantly worse even on Legion and Plague.

It's worse, but still strong. Especially on Plague, as it basically forces an overcleanse strategy which is a lot more fun to play around than the 'never cleanse' groups.

im gonna be honest, artist is my favorite killer, imo shes pretty balanced on both sides, shes really fun to play and has decently fun counterplay, while still going up on s-tier for me, her power is good enough that the addons are not needed but good to have and she probably has the best design and best outfits of any killer in the game, im not even an artist main but come on, you never see people play her nor talk about her? ive seen people play more twins than artist in the last month and im so confused why

I love playing Artist too - but I think the big issue with her is her addons, which are just...bad.

Boring, bland, don't really change the way she plays at all.

She's literally Pyramid Head but more boring in every conceivable way. Both to play and to face, somehow.

Interesting - I'm the exact inverse.

I find playing her a lot of fun. Always learning new places to set up bird traps in structures, getting better at leading people at a distance for snipes etc. Plus I love her aesthetics.

If anything, I find facing her even more fun. There is so much play and counterplay when it comes to the birbs.

Okay, but my point was that you have plenty of time to damage people with birds as long as you send only 1 bird to initially swarm them. It takes a little set up and pathing, but it is possible to hit them before they finish repelling. If you send more than 1 bird to initially swarm them, then it is impossible to use a follow up bird, unless they don't start repelling right away or you force them to vault and reset their progress.

One thing that I love to do is run Discordance on her - line up all three birds, staggered, at the gen and watch chaos ensue.

She can use a similar trick to injure people as they unhook, but it's very difficult to time.

Mostly because there are so many killers now, and also Twins, Dredge killers BHVR made themselves are all really interesting and fun but a killer like Nemesis for example being from RE will always be more popular even though he is not as fun to play or play against.

I will say that Dredge is quickly becoming one of my absolute favorites, and if he didn't look as silly as he does, he'd likely be my #1.

Artist a hard killer to learn...? 🤦 It's the exact opposite. People get bored of her because she's so braindead easy to play and down survivors. Not a challenging killer.

    I totally disagree.

Her kit is actually rather hard to understand at first, and newbie Artists almost exclusively use their birds for scouting.

To actually get really good with her, you not only need to be able to anticipate how people are going to move, you also have to understand loops and structures on a totally different level.

Truly great Artists almost never swarm->hit. They place birds, push survivors towards them and fire them to injure. It's incredible to watch.

So the ptb patch notes just released, and sadly we are not getting any nerfs to camping or tunneling, yet again. These cheap and skillless strategies will continue to be way to effective for the little effort required, and survivors continue to be at the mercy of killers to not camp and tunnel.

I wonder how long BHVR is going to not address this issue. Killer queue times will continue to be problematic most likely, and understandibly so. Who wants to go against such cheap and unfun strategies?

Please, BHVR, do something against these strategies. Killers were buffed in numerous ways, and are more viable now in general. Now it's the survivors time to get something in return. You have to nerf camping and tunneling properly, so they aren't the go to easy way out strategies for killers anymore, now that killers have been buffed. It's ridiculous.

I do not know any other online game that has such cheap, unfun, and skillless strategies be so effective. Can't even think of anything that comes close to this. It's ridiculous.

I am really hyped about this new chapter, and can not wait to play Wesker. But the prospect of 10 minute killer queue times just to play Wesker really dampens my excitement to an extent.

While I'm not a huge fan of paid DLC being required for it, Reassurance is a damn strong anti-camping perk.

Camping (as in hard facecamping) needs a work, and the devs have expressed a desire to discourage it for a good while now - but it's a very tough issue to fix in a way that won't break the game.

How the hell do you nerf tunneling though?

  • @AcelynnBen said:

so let's just set this clear. nobody is gonna complain about camping since reassurance is a thing right?

ur not gonna come here and complain that your teammates aren't running it or u got camped by survivors with it

    RIGHT??

in all seriousness im glad they made it, i never was a camper the only time i would camp is in end game collapse with zero hooks, but im glad survivors got a bit of help and a major fix to a problem that existed for years

I'm a little tired of perks being used as a bandaid to fix design issues with the game - especially when those perks are tied to paid DLC.

  • @Blue_Foxy said:

its not being tunneled, or teammates leaving on hook. its these freaking insecure killers that check every profile before the game starts and when they see someone with under 100 hours they tunnel the hell out of them and then the rest of the team gets screwed at 4 gens, and please dont be one of those copy and paste killer mains who are like "but they have base-kit bt!" explain how the hell 3 seconds of endurance is supposed to stop hard tunneling

    It's not.

It's there to give you enough space for your team to step in and disrupt the tunnel.

Also - which killers are you referring to? The tunnelers I run into generally go after whoever they hook first. Wandering the map searching for one specific player is a good way to be down 3 gens before you can blink.

These were released at the beginning of this year, and prove that before the update (6.1.0) that almost all killers had a greater than 50% kill rate, meaning the game favoured killers and never favoured survivors. The reason for the 6.1.0 update was to help killers when it was never hard for killers.

The 6.1.0 update is unfair to survivors.

    Nope.

    Those numbers mean nothing.

Look at the 'worst' killer in the game and you'll probably be able to guess why.

They are being thrown off completely by newer players. The devs have their own internal numbers, which demonstrated to them that kill rates weren't high enough.

  • @Edilibs said:

It was a very good perk not just on Plague and Legion but overall and synergized great with particular builds so i dont understand why they would nerf it after it received a buff.

Can anyone tell me or speculate why?

Basically, Thana is a psychological perk - it doesn't do all that much, but that little red icon plus the gen times buff gave people a convenient scapegoat.

It's still going to be pretty fearsome on Legion and Plague.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3126935#Comment_3126935

Yea that’s my entire point. If you don’t do gens and meme with the killer the killer will think you’re a bully squad. You actually do gens? Toxic gen rusher lol. Not every killer wants to meme or will meme so when you actually try to play you’re labeled as toxic. Can’t really win

This feels like projection, to be honest. I play both roles about equally and I'd say that I'm multiple times more likely to encounter BM survivors on killer than the inverse, even accounting for the 4 to 1 ratio. And I'm about the nicest killer you could hope for.

If you win, you're a sweaty tryhard.

If you lose, you're a noob and are told to uninstall.

Play a meta perk or killer? Lol carried.

Play an unconventional killer or build? 'OMG just play the game normally'.

You'll get cussed out if you 4k.

You'll get cussed out if you let people go.

I've been whinged at for running Lightborn, Franklins, Retribution and all sorts of off-meta stuff. I've been whinged at for playing Demogorgon, Plague, Artist and Cenobite. If you want to know what a lose/lose situation is like - play killer for a few weeks.

Yes, survivor is a role with it's own frustrations - but I think most killers are just there to play the game and to have some fun.

The problem is that there are some extremely toxic SWF 'bully squads', and after facing a few you start approaching all SWFs as if they are one.

My policy is always to go hard from the start, and ease up if I'm stomping.

  • Freedom here has certain restrictions. You don't get to troll, grief, hack and there shouldn't be such an easy way to completely ruin games without penalty.

I'd love to see BHVR track hook suicides and start penalizing people who do it excessively.

How does a soloQ survivor teach other soloQ survivors to play better? Theres no voice communication. I understand and ageee with what you are saying, but this game doesn't really offer the option to communicate with others unless you invite them to a party and the majority of soloQ players don't join parties.

By giving them a chance to play the match out, and not deliberately sabotaging the match?

  • @Oscarnator said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3125231#Comment_3125231

Who wants an immerse Claudette who never touches a gen and runs into the killer’s power when they’re not even the one getting chased? Maybe if you want a good laugh but who wants that the majority of their matches?

That would cause so many people to take a break from DBD. Killer Q times are going to be even longer if people aren’t allowed to a leave match where your team is literally doing the killer’s job for them. The people that DC just beacuse they got downed first ARE immature and do need to grow up, I agree with that. But it is so infuriating trying your very, very best to carry a match, putting it your all, then watching your team spit on that hard work by making the worst decisions they could’ve possibly made. It’s like if you’re in a group project and when you do all the work while your partner does absolute nothing, and it’s time to present they just say some random BS not even follow your presentation; giving you a failing grade because of them. I get I signed up when playing SoloQ but that dos not make it acceptable to give me that type of experiencing when I gave you $60 + DLC hoping you fix it.

Like with SWF you have a team and even if you lose or even if your team sucks you laugh it off cuz they’re your friends. With Killers you only really have yourself to blame if you lose unless someone like 4% and gets hatch or a game breaking glitch happens. Even when going against a SWF it’s been proven time and time again it is possible. Weather it’s fair or not is totally diffent matter but I digress.

Like I’m an A-hole for ruining the match but the immersed Claud gets a free pass? I just disagree with that 🤷‍♂️

You're talking about two different things here, and that's the problem.

In your first scenario, you equate simply making mistakes and getting outplayed as 'spitting on your hard work'. That's a really poor attitude, as the entire nature of solo queue is - well - random. Remember, (AFAIK) if the queue is getting longish, SBMM will attempt to pair you with people to give you an average MMR close to that of the killer's, within your MMR 'bracket'.

That could mean you getting 3 god tier players against a killer way better than you, or it could be 1 god tier player, you, and two people not as good as you versus a killer at your skill level.

The other scenario is a player who is deliberately refusing to participate - ie. trolling. That's reportable.

The issue is that far too many people think that just playing badly is trolling. Dunnig Kreuger is alive and well in cyberspace, but this is a very snowbally game which also doesn't help matters.

Just remember: we were all new once, and survivor - especially for newer players - is not a role that's especially intuitive. It has a rhythm to it that takes time to learn.

There is an unspoken contract when it comes to playing solo - that you'll take what you get. If you don't want to abide by this, you have multiple ways to find a group. If I find myself with a trolling or (more likely) simply out of their depth teammate, I'll focus on practicing looping and maximizing BP gain, and who knows, maybe we'll catch a break?

  • @NomiNomad said:

It just doesn't work, unless you're going against a bad killer. Especially when you're injured. I have seen otherwise very good survivors go down simply because they insist on blinding at pallets. Hell, I can't count how many free down's I've gotten because Survivor's must think I don't have ears, or something.

Flashlights are already one of the lesser items you can bring imo, this is just suicidal at this point.

I don't mind it. I know that BP is a pig to farm on survivor, and blinds are worth quite a bit. I can often follow them closely enough via sound to make it a wash.

There is no way to prevent someone from being tunneled. If the killer wants you gone you will die, period. The only variable is if he throws the game to do it, or not.

Go and watch some of the recent HCS stuff. Plenty of situations where someone is tunneled or camped and the team gets them out just fine.

Takes a bit of coordination and common sense.

    No, you don't.

    You're exaggerating.

I've been working hard on improving my survivor game, and I see a solid variety of people. Some are not great. Some are fantastic. That said, it is a very understandable reaction to look for targets for blame when the game is lost.
