  • Basekit Nurse is unfun, old basekit Nurse was fun. If you are playing basekit Nurse your biggest weakness will be the w key or forward key for us console players. You literally cannot go for more of the risky reads because if they just run they will make so much distance its not worth going for them unless they make a big mistake. Sure you can always go for the long distance blinks, but its just boring because you will most often, be left in the dark about whether or not the survivor is going to keep on running or backtrack while you are blinking and gain enough distance to avoid the second blink, unless the survivor is like ah lets only run forwards so you can manage to read where they are running to perfectly and blink on top of them.

Recharge is not overpowered it just makes Nurse more fun to play besides using range to completely get rid of the threat of a survivor just running and not trying to play the old guess which way im going game to just make large amounts of distance when you think they are just going to be behind this building once you lose line of sight. You hardly see basekit Nurses anymore prior to the rework because basekit Nurse is just bad unless you are someone who puts daily amount of time into Nurse or just enough hours into Nurse that you can perfectly gauge what the survivor is doing every time to makeup for the lack of recharge addons. I have played a lot of Nurse, but even now I won't always make perfect reads so thus basekit Nurse is unfun and just making the game harder on yourself maybe its different for pc players, but its just not fun being basekit nurse anymore.

  • As survivor terrible I'm too altruistic for my own good, I'm the person who is like "this bill saved me when nobody else would at endgame" then go on a super risky save and often end up dying saving my teammates, sometimes I manage to save both me and the other survivor because some killers are like???? did they really try that save and are caught off guard, but most of the time I end up being sacrificed, but at least I didn't feel guilty about leaving them. So a 6 lol.

As killer terrible I'm too fair and go out of my way to not do the things I hate as survivor, which more often than not ends up costing me the game, even when I do realize I'm going to lose if I don't take this survivor out I just feel way too guilty most of the time, unless the survivor team is particularly rude bming a lot, then I can be super ruthless otherwise though I let a lot of survivors go free because I can't take seeing them give up it makes me feel too guilty lol. So a 5.

Those changes would make her basically unplayable against most people.

Do you think they care? They just want to make Nurse a dead killer lol. Most of the people who make these kinds of threads come up with the most ridiculous threads imaginable I would hate to have them in charge of the balance of this game or it would be an absolute snoozefest. No fun allowed crowd.

Im surprised people still play as Nurse when they have to wait in really long queues just for the game to end in seconds because of DC's or suicides on hook

Not all survivors are prone to throwing tantrums like you. I suggest perhaps switching to a more relaxing game like civ if you are prone to anger from not getting a killer you like.

30s across 2 health states in the blight example? Also in general utilizing map resources can extend a survivor's lifespan, but cannot make it permanent. (Except infinites which sadly still exist for those M1 killers) Also artificially shortening chases too far runs the risk of the game becoming nothing but hide-and-seek with no chasing at all. This has partially started to happen, but thankfully it hasn't become too common yet.

Also I think the issue is people dislike the extreme difference of power in facing a Nurse vs Sadoko or Blight vs Wraith. Flattening the killer power levels would go a long way to help balance the experience and ensure basekit changes can improve the experience in more cases.

Even if you are taking away survivors' resources it's really important not to lose so many generators you can rely on 3 gens if you have the generator regression perks, but losing 2 generators is definitely not great if you are trading for 1 hook state depending on how long they extend the chase for.

Such as on maps with lots of pallets sometimes losing those resources isn't actually bad if it extends chases when pallets were more scarce obviously there were cases it was better to just go down without throwing the pallet, but honestly besides maps like shelter woods maps have a lot of pallets on them a lot of good ones too.

Sometimes even taking away all their defenses they take away too much time from your clock and you end up losing out on winning though lately it hasn't been seen as much besides in swf teams that split up on generators. Though it's definitely much harder to do so in solo q, you really need a luck-of-the-draw team who realizes just how important the generator to hooked survivors ratio is.

Though offtopic I am definitely looking forward to the anti-camping perk coming out this RE chapter it would have been a nice general perk, but it's whatever. I can see it being absolutely great against camping killers I have been seeing quite a lot lately as either early-game stereotypical 5 gen tunnelers or late-game camping which I can't really fault. My biggest issue with making the late game saves is the hooked survivor's bar goes down so quick it feels and I end up making dumb last-ditch saves which often save the person, but end with me dying. So I wonder what kind of tricks I can pull with this perk lol.

I think the argument of “learning to play against” a top tier nurse is moot at this point. She’s broken. Everyone knows it. You just like easy games and feeling all powerful. I get it. But seriously, it’s not impressive anymore. It’s just broken. Move on.

    Whatever floats your boat. :P

I was referring to their post claiming Survivors essentially being on a 30s timer vs a good Blight and that timer is assuming Survivors did make attempts at counterplay and that is how they reached 30s.

In what world should a survivor be able to reach more than 30 second against a killer, this is a 4v1 not a 1v1 survivors should not be able to 1v1 the killer. That's just dumb game design if that was the case in whatever world you speak of, but the fact is dbd is a team game you don't win by yourself you win as a team.

I seriously don't understand why people complain so much about not being able to do 2-5 gen chases on every killer like you can do to Onyro or on the weaker side killers like wraith. 30 second is a lot of time and its more than enough to be able to complete a generator before a hook if prove thyself is in play as the killer still has to go over to your gen.

If anything the killer needs to have shorter chases than that to keep up pressure unless the team is bad, because 30 second chases are definitely cutting it timewise. Heck if you were being ran for 30 seconds it might be better to go chase someone else who is on a generator as worst case scenario 3 generators are now nearly halfway.

The problem is, that no matter what kind of proof you provide - he will just say "that's not good enough". At this point I would not be surprised if he would reject direct statement from BHVR...

Better than trying to convince people she is overperforming that much by just "trust me pls" if you provide no substantial evidence other than your word don't expect people to believe you. Do I really need to let you know these things because I for one thought it would be obvious.

Don't blame other people blame yourself for not being able to provide anything to convince anyone, I swear like people have sent so many things as "evidence" before and typically its just someone getting a single 4k as Nurse using her strongest addons or a comp Nurse getting a 2k unironically used as evidence.

That's why I hardly believe that she is really as overperforming as much as people say, if people actually backed up their claims with evidence instead of going "oh trust my word" then I wouldn't be as cynical.

  • Well yes she is "fun" to play against because she isn't that strong at all, people just put the phrase fun onto things they A.) don't find annoying and B.) can beat nearly all the time.

That's why people hate trapper even though he is weak because his traps are deemed too random and its annoying to step into traps. Why people hate legion even though in their core they are not strong, but because they feel mending is boring.

The only killers most people deem fun are the ones that are typically the weakest, but even that is down to preference as people have been saying demodogo is unfun to go against just because of how well they work with stbl so I wouldn't pay attention to what the mass find as fun and just go with what you find is fun.

I don't find her fun to Play as neither playing against, also gonna respect you for playing console nurse.

I maybe went harsh on fatigue, but on addons I don't feel any regrets.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3143300#Comment_3143300

Did you put your first comment on this thread before reading the thing?

    Also what M1?

Thank you, it was a lot of losing once upon a time, but I genuinely enjoy playing Nurse as well as killers like Huntress because they just are the most fun to me personally. I apologize if I was rude, but I just don't think stuns that long is fun nobody enjoys being stunned half the game as Nurses already have to deal with the look-down mechanic being stuck looking down for that long just isn't fun and it would genuinely make it a killer nobody plays.

If you really want to nerf and change a killer don't do it in a way like they did hillbilly, but worse, if you are taking away things that make Nurse fun you need to give something in return making Nurse mains have to spend half the match fatigued is hardly fun and it will make already bad Nurses worse, it just tells me you just don't want people playing Nurse.

If you actually want to make fair changes by nerfing her core power give her actually good addons don't make her ability awful as well as her addons because in the current state Nurse already has mostly terrible addons anyways. If these changes you have made with the addons went through it will get even worse as it is already at the Executioner level of addons worth using, just worthless add-ons in bloodweb all the time.

Like, come up with actually fun addons that change her ability comparable to Myers with how much his add-ons can change his base ability, make it interactive if you hate extra blinks that much to revert it back to its garbage previous pre-buff state just do away with the extra blink since clearly you hate extra blinks and just make it a good ultra rare addon.

Both of them should actually be good, they are useless nobody who plays Nurse uses them they only use 4 addons currently because those are the only 4 that actually do anything useful the rest are basically meme addons or overrated extra blinks that nobody who plays Nurse actually uses and is simply just a boogeyman as it's still not even a good addon even after being buffed.

Like honestly I wouldn't even be mad if the people coming up with the nerfs actually gave something in return instead of just doing the worst possible changes just to make the killer bad solely to make people stop playing that character. It's just insulting as it's just a slap in the face I get people to hate Nurse, but it's insane to me how people think these could even be remotely fun honestly if this was the actual alternative to simply removing Nurse then I would choose to remove Nurse even though people would probably rejoice at that news, because why keep a shell of a killer and the just the hollow self of what made them fun, to begin with.

If people actually went into this with the mentality of "I wonder how to make it less strong, but also still fun" instead of "I hate Nurse and I wish nobody played her." I would genuinely be a lot more open to the changes if they had that energy to go into it with the people who play Nurse and enjoy Nurse in mind instead of the latter.

This is my genuine feedback and I hope you consider or acknowledge it.

  • Well.. thats one way to make Nurse from a fun killer to play into an absolutely unfun mess to play as. and I played console nurse before the sensitivity and fps improvements lol..

instead of making the killer so ungodly unfun to play as can you guys just get rid of the special attacks and call it a day, because the addons are awful and the fatigue sounds even worse. I would be surprised if even superalf would continue playing nurse if these changes went through.

  • sadly there is no way to tell if someone is using a software to cheat in that manner, auto dead hard exists, but the problem is there is basically no way to differentiate between it being someone who got lucky or was super patient as there are people who can time it perfectly like that. Or it being just a cheat someone used that detects on hits, so no there isn't really a way to figure it out at least as far as I know.

  • Prestige 19 Nurse and a Prestige 11 Feng, I am not as high as a lot of people because I can't really play a lot im trying to get Nurse up to 20 then im stopping to save up points for wesker and the new survivors.

I don't see it, this "oppressive" killer that solos can't possibly deal with, when I look at Pinhead. Loop him, instabreak the chains on stuff, solve the box, work on gens for as long as you can before he activates the chain hunt (if that ever even happens). It's so simple. Compare how much work Pinhead has to do to beat survivors vs how much work they have to do to beat him. He already got nerfed, which took him away from his top 3-4 killer spot, because people complained about losing to a killer who can hit you like 7 times with his power and still not down you. Even the strongest of killers have massive weaknesses that you can exploit, trust me. Let's not unjustly nerf him again.

Again this post is not about nerfing him, but the fact that he is way better against solo q than swf he is B tier against swf, but super strong against solo q. If solo q isn't given buffs he will get nerfed again because its simply the way things are because the developers are going to look at stats and see pinhead overperforming against solo q. The possessed chain was never the problem it's the preasure he gets from adding his second objective which can be made into three objectives if you add other perks into the mix.

The only thing im really suggesting is that solo q gets buffed information wise so pinhead isn't nearly as strong against them as well as other killers who are good against solo q. Buffing solo q is better than nerfing killers that are already weak against swf is it not?

  • @Brokenbones said:

Nerfing Pinhead who is a a pretty balanced killer isn't the solution

Other killers stomp solo Q survivors much faster and harde than he can.

The problem is he has always been great against solo q ever since he was released his killrate is the highest of any of the other killers not completely from just beating up new players, but because of how much pressure he gains by simply having survivors that don't have swf benefits.

I am not saying he needs to be nerfed, I'm just warning that if things don't change for solo q he is going to be nerfed again that is just facts, because he has the highest killrate and has been the highest for quite some time I'm not sure what the latest stats were, but I'm pretty sure he is still the highest if not one of the highest so since killers have been buffed his killrate is going to get bigger which means he is going to be nerfed again.

I personally think pinhead is trash. Playing against him has never been a challenge for me nor have I ever been against a "pro pinhead main"

Honestly maybe you are just better at me at playing against pinheads, just in solo q I have noticed that my teammates can keep up a lot of pressure early game, but midgame and late game is when things start falling apart where generators aren't being done my teammates mess-up where I feel like I can't count on them to do things. Kindred has been making it easier, but at the same time I notice a lot of the time a lack of information just really kills it and my team falls apart.

When I play with my swf against pinhead its a a whole different story the information for swf makes pinhead easy peasy and I never have any trouble, but solo q lately has been brutal against pinhead for me with the extra generator time and if they have generator regression perks like the one scourge hook its going to be rough.

All this post is, is me hoping begging for some solo q buffs lol.

Just example, this is Blood lodge map, you at Gen2, you able to see Gen4 has no one, Mate3 at Gen3. You dont care where Mate1 is in chase. You likely to assume Mate2 is around Gen1-6-7, and you assume you're the closest one to the box.

You spend 10sec running to the box, just to see from afar Mate2 is closer to you and take the box, you spend another 10sec run back to your Gen. That is roughly 23% Gen progression that COULD BE DONE.

And this is only 1 Box.

    @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3134499#Comment_3134499

Clearly, you haven't played Solo Q.

You don't know who's closest. That's....kinda the entire idea.

3 people running towards the Box makes sure Pinhead will grab it and that nobody is doing gens. Or, more likely, you think that since you're across the map, surely one of your teammates will grab it. Surely.

Thank you, this is exactly what I mean, im not saying pinhead absolutely needs to be nerfed asap im saying if solo q isn't buffed to be given the information that it needs pinhead most definitely will be nerfed as he has always been good against solo q, me running kindred isn't going to change much when the other 3 survivors aren't running information perks or I am not on hook.

What people don't get is im saying the lack of information is really making the games against pinhead that much worse as every time im against pinhead I have to cross my fingers and hope that my teammates are actually contributing and not both going to go get a box or leading the killer to the box or letting themselves get downed with the box.

I am not saying making solo q super duper strong, I'm just saying some buffs information wise wouldn't hurt, especially since swf already have that kind of information and they already said swf in that way is here to stay so why not make solo q as strong or nearly as strong as swf and killers can be buffed accordingly.

  • @Phasmamain said:

Yeah box mechanics need to be changed a bit imo. If we nerf the box I’d like to see his possesed chain buffed though. It should scale with distance.

It's such a shame though, because I don't want to see another hillbilly or deathslinger esq nerfs, but at the same time solo q at least for me against pinhead has been so miserable especially if they have regression perks as there is no way I can account for everything or do everything for my team if we are unable to coordinate as not every survivor runs kindred and I rather not have all survivors be required to run kindred, perks like shattered hope and the anti-camping perks shouldn't be required, but sadly this game has always had perks be used as bandaid fixes.

If worst comes to worst they should definitely make it scale with distance as I used to hate the possessed chain as I am a console player and I have to do my own little thing to not slow vault over pallets lol, but I have gotten pretty good at dodging the possessed chain enough that I am pretty confident I can avoid it in a chase.

Just keep doing what you’ve been doing all this time. It’s your teammates who make the matches harder than they need to be. Just try your best and hope that it rubs off on your teammates who are starting to feel like giving up. Unfortunately you can’t do anything about the hardheaded ragequitters.

I’m usually the one who goes for the box, and when I do- I try to take it somewhere where it’ll be a pain for him to relocate to me, or an area where I have slight elevation with a safe tile nearby to drop down/run over to. That way I get a clear view of his spawn. This game loves to position him right around the corner of tall structures.

I can’t tell you the amount of times I have seen teammates run near the box and purposely not pick it up. It’s absolutely disgusting & frustrating.

A general tip to add to this, whenever he teleport his "I CAME" line is always directional. So if you don't see him, you'll hear him, since it starts just before either are able to move, and you can leg it in the opposite direction easily.

I don't have many solo queue specific tips. It does actually rely entirely on teammates not giving up halfway through so... Good luck and fix matchmaking bhvr.

Thank you both for the tips ill try to see if these make it better.

  • @Murgleïs said:

Complaining about such a weak killer, it’s unreal.

I am not usually one to complain about a killer, even ptb legion I never complained about, but it truly is a miserable experience playing against pinhead when they have strong regression perks as well as perks to help them get to the box if it's picked up. I found that most of my matches as solo its been a pain because often we start the game out strong, but pinhead slowly once he starts snowballing we can't get reset to get to a point where generators start going again. Obviously, I don't want pinhead nerfed if you read my post, but I think some buffs to solo q need to happen otherwise this outcome is very much certain as pinhead has always been good against solo q.

I have been getting way more pinheads than I ever have in the past and I think it's because people are catching on that his passive helps him create anti-generator pressure and just helps to keep survivors from healing unless they get the box. Like I don't know if it's a teammate issue or just a solo q issue anymore because no matter what the matches always seem to end the same way.

    @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

You want to nerf a B tier killer? No, thanks. He is very fine even againts Solos.

He is weak against swf, but strong against solo q he has always been a good killer against solo survivors because they cannot coordinate as well as swf so there will always be little bits here and there where they waste time or are inefficient and even using aura reading perks to try to compensate like kindred do little since if you aren't hooked you cannot really tell the other survivors what to do. If solo q doesn't get buffed to the state of swf then pinhead surely will get nerfed is what I'm getting at because he already does have the highest kill rate last time I checked.

    @ThatOneDemoPlayer said:

Does Pinhead really need a nerf because Survivors don't want to learn how to play against him?

I don't think he needs a nerf, but solo q definitely needs more tools to be able to coordinate well together, because it's significantly easier to coordinate in swf and be able to maximize your time efficiency needed to keep up the pressure I have tried everything I could, but every match against pinhead ends the same where I even sacrifice my own hook states just to keep other survivors in yet, in the end, we cannot keep up with pinhead. I have gotten pretty good at dodging his possessed chain, but the problem I come to is that I cannot rely on my teammates the same way I can with my swf.

All I am asking for is that solo q has ways to coordinate more I am not asking for it to be too strong, but icons of what they are doing would mean so much for me as I need to know what my team is doing as I don't want to be running aura reading perks all the time and even running them it doesn't make my teammates know this information unless they too are running aura reading perks.

  • Obviously, even though I dread pinhead matches I don't give up and try my best, so if anyone has any tips to make pinhead better in solo q for me it would be much appreciated I'm not one of those people who cry something is broken unless it actually is futile. So if anyone can give me any tips and tricks I am all for it. I honestly just think it's a shame that it gets worse only because my teammates just give up so it's always going to be a 3k once they lose motivation to try.

Not everyone "has" or can afford a pc, "not" an easy fix lol

not to mention some of us who have been playing for years lose all our progress lol. They act like it's so easy.

  • I don't know why, but this person seems very reasonable so I second this.

  • Then you somehow also manage to have a bug where 3 or more hooks just randomly spawn in one corner lol, especially on the coldwind maps map logic is so bugged lately.

  • Because people do it constantly when they get downed first or face a killer they don't like. The people who do it tend to be babies who want to throw a tantrum and shouldn't be playing online games if they are just going to give up acting like they are entitled to things when they aren't if there was a hook suicide penalty for the early game I would rejoice lol. To those of who are like "but what if teammates bad" first of all I never leave my teammates to die unless they left me hanging on hook.

  • @Crowman said:

You could do this before the change. The difference being it was more set up, but you could still work on gens, rescue survivors off hooks, and heal yourself or other survivors.

If you are using OoO + MoM to recreate old OoO you not only have to rush to get 2 protection hits, but you are sitting around doing nothing in order to keep it active.

It's not good in solo q, but the aura reading is really good in swf you can instantly get the free aura reading, I don't have anyone to test it out with, but I suggest anyone with a swf try it out. By having circle of healing zone and someone who can heal you after you get it to proc whichever means you feel like either by using dead hard or just while the killer is carrying someone you could also pair it with breakout instead of off the record to get more value out of that hit.

  • The perks I was using to create this build were off the record, object, dead hard, and mettle of man, off the record wasn't used at all that match my idea was if I proced mettle of man by taking a hit from a carried survivor I could activate mettle of man and off the record to get a free aura reading the entire 80 seconds of off the record, but this didn't happen I am going to do some testing to see if it will workout this way.

  • Also, I have noticed if you proc it using endurance like dead hard it cancels out your mettle of man and it bugs out if someone heals you where it won't show endurance even without a deep wound because you used endurance to get the effect, but it will activate again if someone heals you to full health using the circle of healing it makes this strategy pretty okay. Though I wouldn't attempt this build-in solo, unless you want to trust the other survivors to do all the generators which in this case actually worked out, it won't work out all games.

    I'd kill for a 5 minute queue.

Nighttime EU used to have 20 minute survivor queues and instant killer queues pre-6.1.0. As of literally the past 2 hours 40 minutes, killer queues take about 15 minutes and survivor queues are unlucky if they go on longer than 30 seconds.

Nighttime here is instant, though I don't really like playing nighttime because last night had the first instance of playing against a group with all the same last name like a group tag I don't know how to explain it lol. Had a legacy dwight, sadly I wasn't prepared as I was backpack demo they all had brand new parts and I had no add-ons, should have definitely paid attention to the main lobby screen that's for sure.

He put he uses Distortion in the OP. When he’s spawns with someone else or the whole team (which happens more now than before) it defeats the purpose. The other auras bring the killer to that area, thus wasting a token and potentially putting him in chase first.

That also got me thinking they really should show the other survivors what perks everyone on the survivor team is using shouldn't they, its outrageous considering swf already know.

I was more joking, but I think OP needs to split up if they notice a token lost, because right now other survivors aren't taking advantage of the aura protection perks available to them as aura reading perks are now worth using. Aura reading isn't op, they should simply use one of the old countermeasures for aura reading protection that is at their disposal that is significantly underutilized in this update of dbd. It used to be the case where you could just slap on any meta perk and just win games, but now people really need to use their perk slots in order to fulfill what they want in the game, tired of having your aura read and want defense? Use distortion. Are generators going to slow? Use Prove Thyself. Stuff like that, like it's not really the killer's fault anyways if other survivors aren't going to take advantage of the distortion buff and how much it benefits you now, especially when people are now using a lot of aura reading perks.

But to blame it on killers using aura reading perks? That's just odd, it's like people don't want to see some perk disparity between matches lol.

  • Use distortion enough said.

I 100% agree. It was already a great perk that was catching on. The sooner the killer gets into a chase, the better. I don’t think anyone saw that perk being good, when Nemmie dropped. I sure as hell didn’t. Now it adds 2 seconds to aura reading? Pairs well with Barbecue, Dark Devotion, and Scourge Floods.

The reason people didn't use it a lot was because it felt like a waste because it was used up immediately the only reason aura perks are catching on is because of this buff otherwise it would have just been a niche part of builds. If you take away this buff don't complain if you just start seeing more of the boring builds that fully center on regression.

    Those situations are indeed unfortunate.

My longest winstreak was with Old Freddy, a long time ago. I don't remember exactly the number of matches, but I do remember how I lost it.

It was because of a key.

Honestly, I still can't believe there were people that great with old Freddy back then, because sadly I honestly thought he was one of the worst killers at anything besides tunneling since he can just force the survivor he wants to go for into sleep while leaving the other survivors and bypassing bt. So I genuinely am impressed you managed it, honestly wish they made old Freddy come back because you make me feel nostalgic, though I wonder what version of old Freddy do you want most? PTB Freddy or nerfed release Freddy?

From my experience, I face a lot of Nurse/Blights using aura perks so I get mad value from it

Sometimes midchase too, someone once procced floods of rage while I had distortion. Nurse had no clue what happened

Give me more of your games, I was so surprised because the aura reading change to lethal should have made it a really good pick, but nobody seems to be capitalizing it over here besides me when I play the killer. Like even the huntresses which you would for sure think would use some aura reading perks, but nope.

I feel you. Too many people here (or basically any online game) are way too much of a meta-slave, so anything that isn't the utmost best in its class gets thrown in the garbage can with a shrug and a "why bother?".

Nearly all my builds would be considered off-meta, but they are fun and I am quite successful with them. So yeah, use whatever you like and even try to make "garbage perks" work by building around them and see how much they can bloom, if given the right kind of attention.

Yeah lately all the updates to perks and changes have been my dream for a while I have been having a blast testing and trying out all these perks and I may sound crazy, but even looking at the patch everyone dislikes part of me doesn't even mind that a niche perk like mettle of a man is getting nerfed because I'm looking at that aura reading change and the hit reduction with the object of obsession in mind. It's such an evil build.. well that is until you face a killer who can utilize that aura reading lol. It could be a god-awful combo, but at the same time, I can't wait to try it out lol.

    Yeah that's the thing though

As surv it's rlly hard to notice if crows are what gave you away, so even if calm spirit saved you in a situation - it'd be hard to tell.

And as someone who used to run calm spirit to counter IF Nurse, they don't need IF anymore when floods of rage is a thing. Aura reading is just too good in the current game.

I wish more killers used aura reading meta, out of all the games I played only 2 killers were running aura reading builds a death slinger with a full retribution hex build, and a Ghostface with Nurses Calling. Everyone is still distracted with the new regression perks when I just wanna get more distortion value lol.

Oh no you're entitled to your opinion abt the perk, I don't hate it

I just don't think it does anything significant enough to run. The fact they had to justify giving it another effect by tacking on a speed penalty is just silly

Maybe just part of me thinks when I get value from it like maybe simply denying screams or successfully escaping I make it seem like the perk did all the work, but I probably could have escaped without it who knows. Though I definitely agree the penality was bad, I managed to stealth cleanse a hex totem my first match of using it because the killer just walked past because he didn't hear the sounds of cleansing. So maybe that's why I now have it in my head this perk is brilliant.

This is the thing! Yeah, the +3s or whatever that the perk adds won't be winning or losing any games, but the perk was already THAT under utilized, so why not just give it the noise canceling of cleaning and opening boxes? If you would run it besides a bone hunter build, more power to you, thats one less perk for other stuff.

So, the "nerf" part might not be that impactful, but its adding insult to injury, tuning an already severely unpopular perk ...even more unpopular?

EDIT: and OP, please stop putting this strange ideas into other survivors heads. I am pretty happy that IW usage died down, please don't rekindle it ^_-

Sorry I just have been doing a lot of experimenting with perks lately and I feel pain whenever people say a perk is useless lol, I plan on trying out renewal, wglf, and for the people after they fix the synergy.

Not disturbing crows is a decent effect, granted but it very rarely comes into play and you'd never know if it did

Not screaming is... Okay? Helps counter a handful of killer perks and one specific killer's tracking power. Still not very significant on it's own

And silent chest opening/totem interactions, sure. Why penalise you for using it then?

At least Distortion tells you what addons/perks the killer has (or doesn't have). Even if Distortion doesn't trigger it gives you security in knowing the killer has no aura perks which is far more useful than all 3 of Calm Spirits effects combined imho.

I will die on the hill that calm spirit is a good perk just underappreciated, it really became one of my favorite perks to run I'm not even joking, but maybe I'm just crazy I have no idea anymore. Seems like this is a bit of an unpopular opinion and I have no idea how to convince anyone it's a good perk lol.

  • People really need to get it out of their heads all perks should be active and 100% useful throughout the match all the time, playing survivor and killer is about bringing utilities that can help you win the games sure you can bring perks that always workout, but that's boring its a way better feeling playing the game with perks that it takes a bit to get to work, but when it does work its amazing.

  • @Brokenbones said:

They buffed a borderline useless perk by adding an another extremely niche utility to it

an extremely niche utility that punishes you for using it

    ???????

    I don't get it

It's not useless, that's like saying distortion is useless, just because the effect that it gives isn't useful all the time doesn't make it useless its useful in its own ways and some games you can effectively win them with it.

  • @egg_ said:

It's not about "not being too bad", it's about what on earth was so op and in need of a nerf that calm spirit had. It was already a niche perk.

I can actually be precise: out of 400 killer games I did in the past few months, I saw calm spirit exactly 6 times. Why did it need a drawback?

I don't know, but honestly, the drawback by itself isn't nearly as bad as people made it out to be in my personal opinion it is worth running as killers are starting to run a lot of perks that cause screaming. Same with distortion, but sadly the aura reading meta hasn't really taken off yet.

  • They effectively just made the perk even more useless on other killers, it's definitely not worth a perk slot even on the most mobile killers like hillbilly, nurse, or blight because there is no way you will get all 4 survivors injured unless they are playing like super altruistic or you get super greedy, which isn't the best idea in the first place. The current meta is healing and has been ever since the boon update, unless circle of healing wasn't a factor or super fast medkits I don't see thana ever getting much use outside of legion and plague.

  • If they do that, they need to make the zombies smarter and not get stuck on every little thing to give something to nemy because its just taking away one of the few good things about the zombies.

  • Agreed and on top of that change Nurse's weapon into just a fist like nemy so she can punch survivors to death. Also custom chase music, please.
