Noed doesnt need a nerf, solo q needs a buff to be on par with the information you get from swf.

    Yes and no.

What solo queue needs is a more robust way to communicate with everyone. That is all.

If you were going to buff solo, you'd have to buff killers to compensate. Far, far too many killers have been nerfed even in the last year (despite mediocre performance in high MMR play) because they give low MMR/solos a hard time.

That would require BHVR to revert nerfs, which is something they've always been very reluctant to do.

I am going to take your advice and introspect here. Hmm, so let's say if I am good in a particular game looping another killer for 5 gens (gen-rush in background), get hooked near exit gate, unhook myself using deliverance, DS the killer and then he chooses to DC. Is that bullying him?

I dont think so. I did not make him DC. He chose to DC. He chose to be a quitter. And a quitter - never - wins! 😁

Ah, now come the hypotheticals. Okay, sure. Let's do this.

    No.

Because your intention wasn't to bully him.

You played the game correctly (unless you were abusing infinites) and won. He should have dropped chase. Now, if you were abusing an infinite as a team and just running there every time he tried to chase you, that would be another matter.

But...this is an entirely different situation. In this scenario, you weren't going out of your way to bully the killer. In your actual game, in your own words - you were. As a team. You decided that they had to be punished for 'bringing expose perks/addons' and later 'camping' (which I still doubt, due to the perks you described) and set out to make them miserable, then gloated about succeeding.

    Do you see the difference?

EDIT: And no, he didn't just quit. You set out to make him miserable, and caused him to quit. Again, do you see the difference?

Just get the picture alright.. You like to introspect and all. Think of a killer camping near a hooked survivor with said exposed addons and perks when survs are busy doing gens. He barely goes away from the hook to stop gen progress until later in the game when he suddenly realizes that he has to do something about it lest the game slips away from his hands.

When a killer camps a hook with exposed addons and perks and does not move an inch even when the other 3 survs are playing the game properly, that is what survs dont like. Yes the killer can camp and he is at a liberty to do so. Same applies to the survs for gen rush and choosing not to interact with the killer. Simply gen rush and escape while the killer camps. Why complain about it? I think you need to introspect a bit about survivor and killer priorities.

If the killer mans up and plays properly, survs will indulge too and "interact" with the killer like you want. Know this that a survivor is by all means and fairness entitled to his survival and will do anything for it. 😎

Okay, let me see if I can be clearer as I'm not sure if you're understanding me here.

    1. Your story keeps changing. You didn't mention camping until I pointed this out. First it was 'he was running addons and perks I don't like so we bullied him and made him DC lul'. Then it was 'he was camping a bit'. Now it's 'he was facecamping for 3 hooks with expose addons and perks'. This doesn't make any sense.
    2. It doesn't make sense, particularly since Devour Hope does literally nothing unless you deliberately move far away from the hooked person and hope they don't get unhooked too fast. Why would a killer facecamp with Devour Hope? If you'd said 'Insidious' or something, then okay. This is a bit sus.
    3. Your post wasn't about 'wow, this player was facecamping and we finally managed to outplay him and 4-outed, go team!'. It was 'this player did something I didn't like, so we went out of our way to make him miserable until he DCed, haha what a loser serves him right'.
    4. Right now (and this is something you might not have realized) - the Archive challenges require you to do some stuff with Trickster that is really difficult to do, particularly multiple downs with Main Event. If your story is accurate, I'd suspect that he was trying to get this out of the way with the intention of playing a normal game once he did it. Again, him having Devour Hope/Haunting is pretty indicative of this - nobody who intends to facecamp would run these.

Either way, what I suspect happened here (if your story is accurate) is that someone was struggling to do an archive challenge on Trickster and when he wound up on a really hard map, tried to get a bunch of people into close proximity to do the Main Event one. The fact that he brought Devour Hope and Haunted Ground indicates to me that he intended to play out a normal game once this was done.

Instead, you (in your own words) decided to bully him until he DCed.

In the future, rather than assuming someone is being a jerk, try to look at things with a bit of charity.

This wasn't someone abusing an infinite/exploit, this wasn't someone teabagging or using a flicky macro, this wasn't someone hiding and stalling the game out to be a jerk - hell, this wasn't someone even built for camping. This seems like a frustrated player who got sent to a rough map and tried to do his archive challenge regardless.

Just...be nice. And if you can't be nice, maybe don't gloat about it?

PS: Saying that the killer should play 'properly' and should 'man up' or we'll grief you until you DC is ridiculous. Everyone has a different idea on what 'play properly' means. Hell, I get told to 'play properly' when I run off-meta perks and even killers sometimes. I've gotten this just for playing Doctor.

People should play this game to have fun and to win, without going out of their way to be jerks.

Like many say you play like you want but hinding and gen rushing are strat the survivor use to win just like killer use camping and tunneling all of that is fair

    Hiding and genrushing are fine.

Hiding and refusing to do gens isn't fine.

    Camping and tunneling are fine.

Walling a survivor into a room and going AFK isn't fine.

    There is a difference.

I forgot to mention he was campy for the first 3 hooks. Maybe this will change your point of view.

Ah, now the story changes. Your entire post was about him using 'expose' addons and perks, not about camping.

But okay, what do you mean by 'campy?'

Proxy camping is a perfectly legitimate style. Naturally, once you've hooked someone, you are going to keep an eye out for survivors approaching from where you think they are as you patrol gens or head to your next location. That's not cheap at all - that's just common sense.

Regardless, your post wasn't about someone playing to win in the face of a cheesy playstyle. It was entirely gloating at how upset you managed to make someone, playing one of the weakest killers in the game on one of the hardest maps in the game, to the point where they DCed.

If I'd done that, I wouldn't be proud. I'd actually be quite ashamed of myself.

Why should survivors play the way you want them to play to make it easy for you? Survivors are not playing to entertain you.

Some killers are just unable to adapt.

There's a difference between playing to win and playing to be a jerk.

Abusing infinites, hiding forever on 1 gen to try and force the killer to AFK, smurfing your MMR down to stomp lowbies - that's playing to be a jerk.

By rip apart, I mean take you on an endless loop, blind you with flashbangs, torches, blast mines, run kindred+openhanded and every tactic there is in the book of sweaty tryhards. Basically bully killers into submission.

For eg: I just finished a game in fractured cowshed with trickster who brought his pink addon that exposes you when you are at max laceration. He brought Devour Hope and Haunted too. He got the first 3 hooks easy but afterwards we were looping him like crazy, doing gens at a normal pace, till the time where all 5 gens were done and he had not gotten any more hooks other than the initial 3.

You know what he did after that? He DC-ed. Who quits mid game? A loser that too with exposed perks and addons quits.

TL:DR you camp and tunnel, we will lash back in the way we can. :)

    Wait...what?

So a Trickster didn't camp, didn't tunnel - but brought a killer/addon/perks you didn't like (DH/HG aren't even meta and Trickster has the lowest gross kill rates next to nurse) so you deliberately went out of your way to bully him and make him miserable on an extremely survivor sided map, and then came to the forums to gloat about how upset he was and that he was forced to DC?

Dude, you are the problem. Survivors like you are why killers feel like they need to camp and tunnel - because you aren't playing to have fun, you are playing to be nasty to people and make a fool of them.

Exploiting infinites is just cheap and honestly needs to go away.

You are only making things worse. If I get Haddonfield, for example, I feel like I have to play as sweaty as possible right from the start in case they get a lucky window spawn on that one house and hug it for the rest of the game. I'm sure it's not fun for survivor groups that aren't jerks, but it's either that or risk getting stomped and teabagged all the way to the exit.

It sounds like you just enjoy making people miserable if they don't give you an easy game.

I'd take a step back and do some introspection.

I just played a match as survivor and I was lagging super badly, the game was so unplayable. After the match, the killer accused me of hacking. They said that I was abusing torrent hacks?? because I was glitching from place to place. That was obviously lag, the survivors even saw me glitching from place to place when they were downed or hooked, because of the aura yk and one of them even backed me up in the End Game Chat. But the killer said to report me, now I'm scared I might get banned, even tho I wasn't hacking. :(

Were you hacking? If so, I'd be slightly worried. Lag switchers are an absolute plague and BHVR do seem to be a bit more active now in banning them.

If you weren't then no, you'll be fine.

I get accused of hacking frequently, especially when I'm running Nurse's, Discordance or aura-reading addons. I've never been banned.

    @TheArbiter said:

100% absolutely you will. Considering BHVR doesnt ban the real cheaters I have no doubt they will ban you for not cheating.

I get that you are frustrated, but don't take it out on innocent forum people.

  • @blue4zion said:

Stealth is the way this game should've gone. Not run and taunt the killer while the rest of the team kicks back to do gens.

A killer kicking pallets/vaulting is time that should be used to hide, not run to the next loop. But this is not the case for dbd, so if someone wants to hide they need to avoid chase all together and waste a lot of time pre-emptively hiding. This is bad for the survivors, that's why playing aggressive is better for teams.

Its up to you as killer to punish this type of playstyle, and find them.

The problem is that it's almost impossible to punish that playstyle unless you've lucked into bringing very specific perks/killers.

There really isn't much you can do on larger maps where survivors just refuse to do gens and instead want to try and force you to AFK by wasting your time.

  • @SleepyWillo said:

Have you played f13? People trying to be DJs and subjecting others to their bad taste, 13 year old screaming racism and homophobia, killers trying to flirt with the first girl they've spoken to without a subscription fee... Its horrific

    Just make it opt-out.

Overwatch has native VC and Blizzard do a fairly good job of policing it.

  • I suppose, but you can't run Whispers every game just in case you run into a group of survivors that want to try and force a stalemate.

What do you mean 'rip apart?'

Also - facecamping, yeah. That's cheap, and BHVR intend to introduce another mechanic to discourage that. But tunneling is how killers are supposed to play. Eliminating 1 survivor as soon as possible is one of the core strategies of playing killer at high MMR.

How exactly do you want killers to play? 2 hooking everyone before you kill someone isn't viable, and is sometimes impossible.

If you try to unhook right in front of my face, I have no obligation to let you. If you run into me directly off the hook, I'm swinging.

My survivor queue times are usually short, killer queues usually take noticably longer for me. Depends on time of day and night too, sometimes it's reversed, but I have not had 5+ minute survivor queues in ages. SWF queues are usually a bit longer, but also only very rarely hit 5min. I would not be surprised if there are still more people playing killer than survivor at high MMR.

I would like to see evidence of people having long survivor queue times. Whenever I watch streamers it's the same for them, they have pretty fast survivor queues, in regions across the globe. Maybe survivor queue times at lower MMR are worse though.

    TrU3Ta1ent (UK) solo survivor queue times: 1min10s; 16s; 1min10s; 1min; 1min45s; 2min; 1min30s; ...

    ZuabtLEL (CA/NA) solo: 10s; 40s; 30s; 30s; 12s; 35s; ...

    Hens333 (EU) duo: 45s; 1min; 1min20s; 1min10s; 1min30s; 1min; ...

Can you show me VODs of people actually having upwards of 5 minute survivor queue times?

I'll probably be up early tomorrow morning. If I remember, I'll see if I can record it. 5-10 minutes at times.

There are perks to aid with tracking if it's something you're struggling with. Camping will work to a point, but camping without context going to be pretty ineffective against smart/prepared survivors. Killers in my MMR range end up with 3-4 hook stages and 3 or 4 escapes when they go for the pout camp early game. There are much more effective ways to play killer regardless of survivor playstyle.

Which perks allow me to find 2 'camo' survivors on a huge map that refuse to do the last few gens and just stealth around the edges, hide in lockers and basically just wait for me to AFK?

  • @Mat_Sella said:

Sounds like I'm going to continue hiding and watching as people fail to catch me.

Shrug. If that's how you like to play, more power to you. Just don't sulk and try to stalemate games, that's just nasty.

'Survivors should offer themselves up to be killed, instead of doing objectives' is the new most forum killer main thing I've seen this week.

    And it's got competition.

That's not even a strawman, we're now entering full on Strawzilla territory.

There is a world of difference between 'survivors should just let themselves be killed' and 'it's frustrating to play against a team of survivors who deliberately avoid chases and just slam out gens, or play hide-and-seek to draw the game out unnecessarily'.

    @Mandy said:

As someone who plays both sides, I'd say play the way you want to as long as it's within the game rules - same as they are playing the way they want to, again within the game rules.

It's not a playstyle that I enjoy, same as camping/tunnelling isn't a playstyle I enjoy either - I play for the chases and the mind games from both sides. But stealthing and completing the gens is part of the intention of the game, hence perks to assist with that. I personally find camping to be super boring and it's not something I would do, but I don't really see players hiding in lockers to avoid BBQ either, so I don't have any issue with this personally. Plus all my perks in my builds are information and/or chase perks.

The problem is the 'borderline' cases.

For example, survivor groups who will attempt to force a stalemate by refusing to attempt to tackle a 3gen situation and instead hide and move around the edges/geometry on larger and denser maps, potentially for hours. Even if you actively look for them, it can be nearly impossible to find them.

Postgame, they said that it's not 'holding the game hostage' because it's still technically possible for me to win.

It's still an immensely frustrating and petty bit of BM to encounter.

    @GoshJosh said:

Ok, if I see you as my killer I will just sit under an available hook and point at it.

Sigh. That's not what anyone is saying.

We just want more active, chase-y games. Not drawn out 'hide in lockers and then do just enough to avoid AFK crows' stalemate strategies.

  • @unluckycombo said:

I like all of them. To me what matters is how fun/interesting the power is to play against, or at least me being able to appreciate their power for being unique.

A good example is Wraith. He's not an amazing Killer by any means, but I don't like versing him. With one of his best playstyles being hit-and-run, and benefitting purely on catching you out of position (Something that you're probably going to have to be at some point if you're playing solo or aren't running something like Sprint Burst). Which, don't get me wrong, the hit and down is deserved- you're out of position. But mixed that with the lack of chase he tends to give, and I find him quite boring to verse.

To add to this, still using Wraith, his ability to just sit at a pallet and uncloak, causing you to pretty much leave most structures and your best manuever against him normally just being the power of the W key if he does it, I don't enjoy it.

On the flip side, I enjoy versing Plague due to how she changes up gameplay with how her power functions, and the cool things surrounding it- the choices on whether or not to cleanse, managing sickness, playing around her projectile at loops, trying to do stuns out of Corrupt- those are all really fun for me.

Demo is in a similar boat to Plague, along with Spirit now- doing the sound stuff is super fun. And while I don't necessarily enjoy versing Killers like Trapper or Hag, I can at least appreciate how tactical you have to be with them to play them well, and I appreciate how unique the powers are.

Idk, I'm just not a fan of things like Freddy who's power is super lame for what he is (And doesn't fit his lore, like at all.) or Clown who's powers are both just kinda... so simple they're boring and just shut down loops. I have a similar issue with a lot of Killers post-Pyarmid Head. Most of them are just new forms of shutting down loops, and while the way it's done changes, the concepts are still the same. (It's why I'm not excited for the Artist. Her power so far is basically just 'Die or Die' at loops, which is kinda boring. No mindgames, no sort of special stuff, no real set up...) And while all of them have something unique to them, I've found none of them enjoyable. (Twins is the exception to the whole loop shut down deal imho, but even then they're just a slugging simulator which is easily just one of the worst things to go against in the game because it's pretty boring.)

Interesting. I find Wraith to be a very easy opponent unless they are way better than me. You can loop him to pieces, or just outheal his attrition style.

Plague...honestly, I think she's low-key 'S' tier, or at least very high 'A'. Once you get a feel for her rhythm, she's very powerful. Her 'infect all the objects' build is just wonderful, and far too many survivors either overcleanse or don't cleanse at all - which usually results in a crushing victory for me.

Freddy, yeah. He might have needed a small nerf, but they went nuclear on him and he's just not fun to play now. Cenobite is going to be similar next patch, aside from two gimmicky styles involving Fang and locating the box ASAP with Lethal Pursuer.

Artist...let's give her a month or two before we start clamoring for nerfs (I can dream, right?). There are already guides out there on how to juke her. She just requires a slight difference in how you approach the matchup.

yeah I can't use Whispers for the same reasoning, it's why I also find Doc frustrating - the noise, I'm sensitive to the audios

Demo is probably the worst case of this.

Plague - I get it. In red vommy mommy mode, she has to have some sort of drawback.

Doc...I kind of like his noises. Gets me into a real villain mindset. I'm a monster of lightning and pain.

Demo though sounds like he's permanently halfway through a slice of pizza and his footsteps are ridiculously noisy.

Yeah... Both sides are fighting for their unfair advantage... And then the result is that the game is full of unfair unfun stuff. Instead of everyone focusing on making the game fun.

Maybe we should not be so selfish and let these changes happen, even if it would temporarily leave the other side with more unfair advantage.

    No.

I'm sorry if this sounds callous, but no.

This always results in the game being borderline unplayable for killers for weeks or even months. People still remember the period of instant flashlight stuns, pallet vacuum exploits, sabo-ing the map dry of hooks or years of SWFs having maphacks thanks to OoO.

I'd accept some changes if they were even handed, but the developers have turned this into an 'us vs them' scenario, and so be it.

Like for real, waiting nearly 10 minutes to find a match at night is too much. And even during the day It can take up to 2 minutes, at times. And when trying to find a match with friends, regardless of time during the day, it can take up to 15 minutes not even joking. The waiting times are getting worse than how they during pre-MMR.

    It...varies.

At peak hours, my survivor queues can take anywhere from 90 seconds to 3 minutes. Offpeak - 10 minutes isn't unusual.

My killer queues at their longest are maybe 45-60 seconds at offpeak and almost instant at peak.

Even with 4 available spots in groups, there seem to be less and less killers around.

Those other unfun things you mentioned should be fixed as well. Your justification of having an unfun thing because there is this other unfun thing for the other side is not valid IMO. Why can't we focus on making all elements of the game fun for both sides?

Because, unfortunately, that's where we are now.

If BHVR wanted to, they could easily add a gap in the walls of certain houses in Haddonfield and Badham to break the infinite. They haven't and it's been literal years of it being pointed out.

If BHVR wanted to, they could prevent groups of survivors from stalling the game out for hours by playing hide and seek on 1 gen remaining. They haven't.

There are lots of easy fixes to tons of pretty legitimate complaints from killers that have never been implemented.

As that's the case, then what's good for the goose has to be good for the gander. And killers are getting the greasy end of the stick basically every patch.

We fight to preserve whatever advantages we can because it feels like we have to.

I don't care what you guys think but as a KILLER main if I go against this type of team I camp hooked survivors because I'm not going to waste my time looking through the map to find yall. If you want to avoid this boring playstyle you guys should be more interactive with me THE KILLER.

    It's...frustrating.

Everyone gets less BP when you actively avoid all chases and I'm not sure how much 'fun' it is for these groups either. I mean...yeah, you won - but you barely played the game. It's like taking the 'joke ending' early in a Far Cry game and saying you finished it.

That said, what really grates my cheese are teams that will stall out games forever on 1 gen and instead play hide and seek around the map because they gave you a 3gen. Had an absolute nightmare of a game last night like this that honestly is making me hesitant to play today.

An Ash and a Meg stalled the game out for over an hour because they were sulking and knew that the map was big and dense enough for them to be nearly impossible to locate. That shouldn't be a thing.

I am fine with a total rework as well.

The question is if these weird camping insidious play styles should be in the game. It can be fun for the killer player, but definitely not fun for the survivors. It should be fun for both sides.

    Shrug.

There are styles that are unfun for survivors.

There are styles that are unfun for killers (abusing Haddonfield, Badham, RPD or Pantry infinites, hide and seek genrushers etc.)

BHVR can't just keep nerfing every killer build/tactic that is somewhat effective. What needs to be asked is - why are killers resorting to these tactics?

Camping Bubba is mostly a thing because he has bugs and can be looped forever.

  • @SuperSaiyan4GT said:

Screw this game. The developers care nothing except to catered to killer mains. Once a survivor gets a good thing going it has to be taken away because it's "too op". Our job is to escape. You took away another means of escape by making the hatch spawn when there is only one survivor left because killers are complaining too much.

Screw the wraith and his super speeds and his silent bell

Screw Freddy and his super extended lunge

Screw broken Ghost Face and his inability to be revealed

Screw Michael and his fast stalking at 60 meters

Screw Bubba and his stupid chainsaw with charges to allow him to jet across the map and chainsaw through objects

Screw the clown for having so many bottles of gas which is OP as f. You shouldn't be able to throw more than 3 bottles during a chase. It's bad enough that killers are fast as hell and you can't get to a pallet or a window in time

Screw the trickster and his OP blades. 6 blades to down a survivor?? It's super annoying. All he has to do is avoid a pallet and throw all 6 blades at you in a matter of seconds.

Oni can easily gather all the blood orbs (which stick around for minutes) and enter his rage then boom game over.

The hag's traps are broken. You don't even need to be near one for it to set off. You can just walk right by it. You should have to walk over it to set it off.

Cenobite is super OP. His chains are absolutely excessive and annoying. He shouldn't be able to chain you 3 or more times in a chase for him to catch up. He' already faster than a survivor. You can't solve his box when you have chains coming at you which is stupid

Screw anyone who uses the twins and camp hooks with them. Victor doesn't even need to be accurate to be able to attack you.

Screw all of you killer mains who camp hooks, tunnel, go back to hooks while chasing other survivors. Don't tell me it's good strategy because that is not strategy. Strategy is forcing survivors to three gen themselves. Camping and tunneling is a desperate way to win. Makes you look unskilled and pathetic

Screw all of you noob survivors who keep bringing killers to hooks and others working on gens or you just run around the map doing absolutely nothing.

Enough of these new chapters and updates. Fix your broken ass game, fix your broken ass servers. You have games that require more data feed to their servers and they get it right so why can't you? Until you make some actually good changes towards this game to make it more balanced and skill based, this ######### will forever be broken and killer sided.

    Woof.

    Okay, going point by point:

    • Wraith was 'B' tier before his nerf. Now he is hot garbage.
    • Freddy's lunge is the same as any other killer. He's smaller, so it looks longer.
    • Ghostface can be revealed. What?
    • Are you really complaining about Myers?
    • That's Billy, not Bubba. Just dodge him.
    • Clown is one of the weakest killers in the game. As is Trickster.
    • Hag is strong, but vulnerable to healing. Figure out her zone, when she hits you just run away and heal. If you keep running through her 'zone', you are going to struggle. She's also vanishingly rare - you are unlikely to see her until you start playing at a very high MMR and even then, you'll find maybe one or two in a 'season'. I've literally only ever gone up against her once, and we crushed her.
    • Cenobite is the furthest thing from OP.
    • BHVR have already said that they are adding a feature to discourage facecamping. Proxy camping, tunneling and the like are how the game is meant to be played.
    • This game is absolutely not killer sided.

Look, OP. It sounds like you had a few bad games. But these are all issues that, with a bit of experience, will mostly vanish. Rather focusing on 'the entire roster of killers is OP because they can actually kill survivors when played right', focus on what you can do to play better.

    Sure.

Cenobite, Wraith and Slinger were solidly 'B' tier, but got nerfed to the ground within months.

Stuff like OoO and DS took years to get minor nerfs.

There are still actual infinites in the game. These have never been fixed.

More than half the maps are moderately to strongly survivor favored.

Dead Hard was a strong perk, but got 'fixed' (see: buffed) and now is overwhelmingly strong.

Killers that do well at the low end are nerfed with no regard for their performance at intermediate/high MMR, but killers that struggle at the low end don't get buffs.

There are still tons of bugs that make life hard for killer, but will likely never be fixed (validation bugs, survivors can't be picked up in certain places, killer powers/addons not working correctly etc.)

I play killer all the time and still have the same outlook

Every time someone complains that BHVR are 'killer sided' and then post-hoc claiming that they play a lot of killer, I always imagine Elmer Fudd in a bunny costume.

  • @fogdonkey said:

It works only when standing further than 24m from a hooked survivor.

    Byebye insidious camping bubba.

The fact that the words 'Insidious' and 'Nerf' appear together makes me a sad killer.

As it stands, this perk has zero value outside of a specific gimmick playstyle that heavily penalizes you and falls apart the second savvy survivors realize what's going on.

If it's a problem, I'd much rather have the perk reworked to something much better.

I don't know how it is with PC but for console we constantly have to close the game out after every 1-2 matches due to the lobbies being broken. Either it shows other players still in a match or the player gets removed from the lobby but still shows them present and readied up. I don't know why we keep getting new content and perk/killer reworks when this is a serious issue that hasn't been fixed for years. It is worse now than it has ever been. Stop with the new chapters until you fix this broken, unplayable game.

Which console, if you don't mind me asking.

I played a fair bit on PlayStation before moving to PC, and I've literally never seen this.

I tend to lean more towards the power and agility type of killer, I like being a force you have to take seriously while also being mobile and posing a threat to multiple survivors around the map.

I'm definitely more tactics/agility. Pinhead, Plague, Demo, Pig, Hag and Doctor. My #1 desire is information and if possible, stealth.

    @lauraa said:

I normally like aggressive chase killers like Nemmy and Legion.

I'm drawn to Demo for his flexibility though. I love options, fall back and insurances. Plan A doesnt work? Time for Plan Z.

Demo is an extremely fun killer but he really struggles against coordinated groups. Boons give him a lot of trouble as he tends towards an attrition based style.

Maybe it's just me or maybe it's just the region I live in cause I swear mmr isn't working

Tonight I played maybe idk 15-20 trapper games and out of those all of them accept 2 of them were swfs with bnp dead hard and bt

At first I thought I kept running into the same squad over and over again but i checked cause I recorded all my matches and they were different people

Of those 20 or so games I wanna say at least maybe 10 or 12 was 4 man escapes so I'm just curious how come my mmr didn't lower? I mean certainly you can't tell me these swfs were low mmr and even if they were in theory shouldn't my mmr get low enough eventually I'm basically guaranteed to get solo survivors or worse players

Isn't that how its supposed to work or am I missing something?

It happens sometimes. You'll get thrown into lobbies way stronger than you.

    I've thought of 4 possibilities:

    • SBMM isn't working right now, the system is under maintenance. This is usually characterized by multiple instant queues on offpeak times.
    • SBMM thinks you are better than you are, because you had a run of lucky 3-4ks. You'll have to eat a few losses until your MMR stabilizes.
    • Another killer dodged a nasty looking lobby, and it grabbed the next killer in line with substantially relaxed matchmaking. If I instaque into a lobby with themed names or fancy skins, I might dodge unless I'm very confident on that killer.
    • You got smurfed.

That's true. If it happens at the wrong time, it can negate the effect. This feels like something the devs should fix in a sense where deadlock keeps its duration during the thrilling tremors activation.

Any 'gen block' perk, I've found, has the possibility of backfiring horribly, where you have multiple gens pop in very quick succession in the mid/late game.

CI is strong, but savvy groups now either do totems or hide and wait it out.

This is why I like playing killer. Everything you do has a risk/reward aspect and some counterplay.

Getting 4ks on low mmr survivors kind of defeats the purpose of deranking.

It's nowhere near as common (at least for me) now - but maybe a month ago I'd frequently run into 3-4man SWFs who'd either AFK or run directly to me and die on hook. Occasionally it was a single survivor, but more commonly several.

Very clearly trying to smurf their MMR down.

I think either the system was tweaked to detect this, I've moved out of the MMR bracket where smurfing is more common or they've realized it was a huge waste of time to crush a few newbies.

That said, I do run into the obviously smurfing SWF from time to time (including a brutal group last night) and they can be outright unpleasant.

The question in this post is not me asking the community what makes him bad. I am asking, why did they decide to make one of the most iconic horror villains ever, a boring, uninspired, garbage can. I am not the biggest Freddy fan, but it really baffles me how they made him one of the most boring killers to ever go against, or play as. Placing pools of blood on the floor or summoning fake pallets is sooooo... boring. You have unlimited potential with a killer who can manipulate anything in his own dream world, yet you choose to make very boring powers for the killer. It is, just, really odd to me, how all of the popular licensed characters are just B tier at most, aside from Pyramid Head.

Everyone knows Freddy Krueger, and I cannot imagine the disappointment when he was first released. The short time where he was an A-S tier killer, was not good either. He was still a boring, uninspired, mess of a killer. I wish he was more playable, because his concept is genuinely interesting for both sides to play with. Instead, they wrote some lore about how the entity "nerfed his powers in some ways", so that they could rule out the creativity with his kit. Very disappointing.

In a nutshell, he was a tad too strong for a while, but rather than reworking him they just slapped a 'to the ground' nerf onto him and a lot of his addons.

He'll have to get reworked later.

I noticed that some content creators or some people maybe in general start to run this perk a lot like a new meta.

In my opinion I don't think this perk is that good compare to full heavy slowdown meta. I mean it is better to have perks that help you prevent to get to the situation where you lost all gens instead.

I just personaly feel builds like pop / ruin / undying / tinkerer / etc. are just more usefull. Don't get me wrong that perk is strong but I don't think it is THAT strong as some people say or recomend it is.

It's...yeah. The only content creator I've seen running it a lot is Otz, and that has to do with his 'streak' videos, I think - as it can often let you turn a 2k into a 3k.

I'm not a fan of it. It feels like, if I need it, I've probably already lost.

That said, paired with Bitter Murmurs and NOED, it can be quite lethal - but at that point, you're putting all your eggs into the endgame basket.

Personally, I've started leaning away from regression completely on M2/power killers and only use Surge/Jolt on M1 killers. Ruin tends to get cleansed early in maybe 50% of games (I prioritize consistently) and Pop etc. often wind up taking too long. I have more luck with pressure/aggression and info now.

my pc has been degrading as of late after around 8 years of use with little to no maintenance. recently i started playing dbd on pc since this was more cost efficient than Xbox game pass. So for around a month i played fine but now my frame rates have turned unplayable. So if I get new pc/parts what would be the best specifications for this so I can play?

(P.S please explain this in slight dummy terms as I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to how a computer actually works

Eight years is a long time.

Remember, PCs age 12 years for every human year!

In all seriousness, I know more about Nvidia than ATI, but the biggest weakness I'm seeing here is your GPU. I've found a benchmark of someone playing DbD on it, and they are struggling to get 15fps stable at 1080p on Low. Granted, it seems to be the beta way back when, so maybe you'll have better luck now.

I wish I had better news for you.

The game doesn't have any players to supply every new players with equally inexperienced killer every time of the day hence SBMM not working. You can go on your original account and play at midnight and get baby killers. Game just forces you to play with anyone available.

    Yeah it's weird sometimes.

What can be really bizarre is getting paired up against 2 crazy good, 3000 hour monsters and two complete newbies with 2 perks equipped.

  • @VikingDragonXii said:

I had a few games like that. Anymore I go for a 3Gen strat because most my games are Gen rushers just trying to speed through the games. When I do I wait them out and kill them one by one because they seem to like to rush the hook and body block. By the end of the game they accused me of holding the game hostage because I wouldn't let them get the last Gen.

    I laughed because that's a new one....Been accused of being a Camper.....a Tunneler.....a Troll.....but never that.

This is why I'm less merciful these days.

I've had so many groups have an early DC, I'll go easy and let them do gens, hooking them twice then ignoring them, they never gave any indication that they wanted out - only to be yelled at and accused of 'holding the game hostage' in postgame.

Of course, if you don't give them a change, you get cussed out for being a 'tryhard'.

  • @Thusly_Boned said:

    Some people's children, I swear.

Last night I played a game where one person DC'd immediately, and the next killed themselves on hook, so I was like okay, I'll play nice and let these two get some points. One was having fun, but the other hid (it seems) in lockers just long enough not to set off the crow notifications. After like 15 minutes I was right next to a locker when they finally got a crow (lucky), and as I went to pull them out, they used head on. I pretty quickly downed them, let the other unhook, then heal, then downed and hooked them again.

I was going to kill them for hiding the whole time, but the other survivor indicated that I should hook them instead (charitable), and when I did, they just refused to unhook them, stared at us both and let them die, then ran. they didn't get far.

Why do any of that if not to be a total toxic ass? My wife (who plays a little) was watching, and was just like, why?

Yeah, as much as I like this game, the community - beyond any other factor - is what makes me need to take a break sometimes.

I get competitive people, I understand the occasional bit of QQ in postgame from the losing side.

It's the gloating winners and the endlessly creative griefers that spoil it.

I decided to download DBD on my console because I was curious what its like to be a new player coming into the MMR system and joining the game in general.

I found out im terrible at dbd on controller and I also decided mmr is terrible.

I had enough points from completing the tutorial and got gifted 100k BP to get to level 17 with meg and equipped sprint burst, fixated(dont remember what its called now), and adrenaline.

My first game was vsing a face camping Bubba with all maxed lvl perks. BBQ, Franklin's, no way out, noed. I died.

The second game was a Ghostface with ruin, undying, BBQ, noed. I died this game aswell.

Third game was a blight with ruin, undying, tinkerer, and pop. I also died this game.

So either there are just alot of people dropping their MMR and destroying babies or it just doesn't work?

Im not sure exactly what to take from it but someone just downloading the game would have exactly zero clue what was going on. I plan to try killer next when I get back home but I have to guess its just as bad.

    Hi, and welcome!

    A few things:

    • When you first start, you are assigned the 'average' MMR (likely to stop people smurfing as easily).
    • It'll take a dozen or so games for your MMR to stabilize and perhaps a dozen more for it to be 'confident' in your spot.
    • Keep at it! You'll lose a few games initially, without much doubt, but you'll get down to a more beginner friendly place soon.
    • MMR is a huge replacement to what we had before, as killers had no matchmaking protections and you'd be facing nothing but smurfs.
    • Yes, there are some people who smurf down their MMR to be butts to new/intermediate players (I literally just ran into a survivor 4man doing this) but it's a lot rarer than it was even a month ago. It takes a lot of effort to smurf now.
  • Yep.

Actually, I'm incorrect on this one. I thought AFK crows were added last year sometime when a quick Google shows they were added in 2017ish.

I started a ways back and quit for quite a while due to a similar match where a trio of Blendettes played hide and seek for over an hour on the last gen on Haddonfield.

  • @Myla said:

Those two are probably not even friends and just randoms stubborn enough not to hand the hatch with the other lol.

It was a full premade: All 4 names were the names of killers from the game.

I can usually tell it's going to be a nightmare when it's a 'themed' SWF at the MMR of one of my weaker killers, as it's usually a group of smurfs out to ruin people's day.

  • @Nathan13 said:

Something needs to be done about survivors who take the game hostage like that.

It's not the first time it's happened to me, but it's the first time since AFK crows were added.

I usually report, but I've yet to hear of anyone even anecdotally being banned for this, even when it comes to blocking people into a room and going AFK.

Pantry is one of those maps, like Haddonfield, that needs a rework badly. The hook placement is just so bizarre.

Nurse and Blight are actually probably most over rated, well Maybe not the nurse, I actually find the strongest character in the game to be someone else and they already have been nerfed, Ironically enough all their addons except 5 of them are completely worthless garbage.

Nurse is incredibly powerful...in theory. Even some of the best killers in the world struggle to do consistently well on her.

Blight is strong, but is just so janky and some maps can be annoying for him.

    Spirit is still very strong.

    Huntress - see Nurse.

Those are pretty much the killers that can realistically compete at top MMR. Hag used to be up there, but she really struggles against booners.

  • @IsMmrReal said:

Seriously. I feel like the killer is legit only in the game to be the survivors play thing. Like a giant punching bag with a heartbeat. Of you out played me? I have Perk A,B,C and D and they all give me another chance when I make mistakes. Killers legit get zip. Every perk they get that does something decent is easily taken out of the game or only works at endgame. Even then it does not feel like the killer has a fair shot at this game at all. Unless of course you are Blight or Nurse.

Because that's the intention of DbD.

Once you learn to accept that you are essentially just intended to facilitate the fun of survivors, and that any kills over 2 are gravy, you'll have a lot more fun.

It sounds cynical, but I'm actually being genuine. That's how I try to look at it, and it helps.

Why survivors have to constantly be BM about it though...that's anyone's guess.

Like, the shadiness is not something I approve of, but why do we dislike NFTs?

    It's...complicated.

There are two reasons people dislike NFTs.

    1. They have problems regarding the security/veracity of NFT trades. It's very difficult to prove ownership and you are basically opening yourself up to problems. This, I agree with. You're basically buying magic beans. Don't buy anything without direct, legally valid proof of owner and recipient. It's an old as dinosaurs scam.
    2. The 'environmental' thing, which is usually a logic chain along the lines of: Crypto is bad for the environment -> NFTs encourage Crypto practices -> NFTs are bad for the environment. It's...debatable. I spent a while looking into this issue when I heard about it and there isn't much science around it - it's mostly a lot of armchair theorizing and hypotheticals. There are some arguments to be made for (e-waste is a problem) and arguments to be made against (compared to about 2/3 of the things modern humans do, it's not a massive deal). It's something you'll have to decide for yourself and act accordingly.
  • @dko7a said:

    Haddonfield

Badham variants (the original one was fine, imo. The variants, particularly 3 and up are not.)

Honourable favourite: Weirdly, RPD. I’ve never even played any RE games, yet I’ve really come to like this map. I know the layout fairly well too, so I don’t get lost anymore. I only really did in the first few games, anyway

Honourable disliked: The Game. Matches greatly differ on this one for me. I don’t hate the map per se, but it can be really infuriating to smash pallet after pallet. I did find that not breaking any walls sometimes greatly trips up survivors, guaranteeing hits. Ultimately very dependent on the survivors how this map goes, and whether I’m (mentally) prepared for it.

Is Chapel the map with that little 'carnival' in the back? Man, that horse jumpscares me every single match.

The Game...yeah. It can be pallet hell. What I've found is just to get as many out of the way as early as possible. I seldom lose on this map when I do this.

What I'd like to see for Pinhead is the box to take maybe 1 second longer to solve (to compensate for the addon nerfs) and not having to worry about breaking my own chains.
