You know that if it ends up being changed it's going to be even worse somehow.

At BHVR we care about your feedback! You speak and we listen! After the results of the latest community survey, we have realized that the struggle phase could use some improvements. For us, fun and keeping players engaged are the top priorities when deciding what changes to implement in the game. Therefore, when you are on hook, you will no longer have to repeatedly mash a single key! We are introducing a new mechanic where you will have to quickly alternate mashing between two keys instead!

We are confident that this will be a welcome change and we look forward to your feedback about it in the upcoming ptb!

  • I'm unhurt. Thanks for your concern. Again 10/10. Nice one.

Agree with everything except for the grind part

I have friends who introduced me to DbD who actually won't come back because how far they fell behind. We're not even talking about people who would have to start from scratch. The grind is a real issue that touches a large part of the players' base.

If you only get 2 kills you definitely lost if you get 3 you've barely tied

Killers only "win" with a 4k. its the endscreen, score emblems and entity Displeased that tell you this not me its litterally the written rules of the game it doesn't end until they die or escape.

2.5k on average because you can't half kill a person means when you take all the games and even them out you have 2 or 3k most often by number.

Lol watch the inflate after a single DC snowballs an entire team.

Or a potato team 4k erases 2 matches of 4E super squads

I escape nearly every game as survivor

Holding m1 or hiding in a bush to jump hatch is nearly braindead.

I can counter every action a killer does 1v1 solo with a basic loadout and items found mid match and he's suppose to kill 4 of us ? Not unless we really screw up. Almost on purpose do we have to loose as a team.

Ah, ok. You're trolling. You got me good. Well done.

    Next.

But with mending you literally patching up a deep gash in your body that will make you bleed out however snapping out of it you literally just coming down and regaining focus one is definitely a healing action the other is not.

Leader effects lots of actions that aren't healing related. So the mending is healing debate wouldn't even need to apply. Just add mending to the description of the perk

Because the devs love cOnSiSTenCy. Except when they don't.

  • 2.5k kill rate means that the killer lost nearly every game

I struggle to understand this statement. Please, elaborate.

  • It's been acknowledged as a bug. They'll fix it at some point, hopefully with the mid-chapter.

  • The skill check is not the way to go. Sometimes, letting go is the right play. Everybody and their mothers asked to reverse the struggle phase mechanic. BHVR: skill checks. It's like they simply want to be contrarian sometimes.

It doesn’t matter whether or not it ######### up billy, it still adds an unnecessary and annoying cooldown. If Billy is in a good spot right now, why add a cooldown that either does nothing but be annoying or hurts him on loops?

The devs didn't do anything with Nurse when she got nerfed despite the mass of PTB feedback telling them otherwise. I'm very disinclined to believe that they'll reverse course on Billy at all.

Say he's performing as they want in one breath and objectively nerf him the next, BHVR's logic jumps never ceases to amaze me.

They said they were happy "for the most part", not totally. Now, what they were not happy about, I have no idea. But they didn't say that Billy was completely fine.

  • They simply won't announce the change. Same with keys.

  • It doesn't break any rules and I'm sure the survivors didn't mind.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1417690#Comment_1417690

Maybe. With the current numbers it seems likely that you'll have 1-2 attempts at a curve attack before you go overheat.

Also breaking pallets with a chainsaw seems to be not viable at all unless you'll be using the new ultra rare.

It's all hypothetical until we try it, but 2 attempts for a curve are not bad at all. I don't think I have ever need more than that, or else I'm wasting time at the loop and I might as well rotate or m1.

Everybody is concerned about the curving potential, but it's starting to look like curving at a single loop is not going to be much different when considered in isolation. The nerf might come more into play when looping AND mobility are linked together. I.e. it's gonna be more restricted when chasing right after traversing the map, or trying to traverse the map after using the chainsaw for a chase.

@hahahillbillygobroom well, its true that a lot of billy add ons are broken, but here they nerfed his base kit, which is skilled based, and the amount of crutch add ons players vs the amount of fair Billy users is very different. most of the time, Billy players will not use a broken add on combo. This does come from someone who does not use perks and add ons, so maybe I am wrong.

@ad19970 true, but he requires skill, which makes it ifne and deserved. Also, go watch Ussylis play against him to understand the counter-play. Also, they are a lot of worst things like camping that the devs should focus on instead of nerfing a killer that is based on skill.

@NursesBootie well, basing an opinion for a killer on the best build is not fair: the strongest build for Billy is very rarely used compared to a normal Billy build.

I'm very skeptical about the basekit changes, but I disagree about the popularity of broken add-on combos. I play Billy either add-on-less or double engravings, which I think are both very fair builds and I basically never see them from the survivor side.

In the red ranks, whenever I get a Billy, I can blindfoldly bet and hardly ever lose that it's CrackBilly or insta saw with infectious and then any combo of bbq, pop, corrupt, bamboozle and enduring. Sometimes spirit fury. Crack and insta saw are already broken in their own regards, but when combined with infectious, map reworks, etc. I can see why the devs see a problem. It's just that I'm not convinced that the basekit nerfs are the correct solution.

  • No, I don't. Memes and all are funny when talking about Megheads, Urbanettes, etc. But they're just that, memes.

  • I will give you my thoughts from a killer main perspective. This is a build centered on stealth and productivity, not stealth for the sake of it. It's not just a matter of picking a build, but of picking a build and having a sound strategy to use it.

    • Spine Chill. You get an early warning for when the killer is coming to you and it gives you time to retreat into hiding. Be careful, because some killers are wise to it and will adapt. So, sometimes you will have to play it safer and hide even if it only flickers for a second. That's situational. Remember to always use your game sense. There's no substitute for it. Useful in chases too for the extra vault speed.
    • Fixated. Perfect synergy with SC. You can go into cover faster and even skate around the killer who's checking the surroundings for you. If you're really cheeky, you can abuse the scratch mark reading to leave some false trails. Useful in chases as well for jukes, or to try to reset bloodlust.
    • Sprint Burst. Besides the great synergy with the above, one always need a plan B. Not every killer tracking ability can be countered (eg. Killer Instinct, Whispers), or always countered timely (eg. Rancor), or be worth countering given the circumstances (sometimes you just have to risk it and keep doing what you're doing). If plan A is to not be found and avoid being a target, then plan B is to become a target not worth chasing when you're going to be found. That's where SB comes in handy. Get a bunch of distance early and the killer might decide to rotate, or you might get to an area where you can use your lead and Fixated to lose them. If plan B fails as well, SB allows you to get to loopable resources, which are plan C.
    • Calm Spirit. One of the top perks for stealth. Counters so many killer tracking perks and abilities which I won't even start listing them. Not to mention the great synergy with lockers, which you WILL have to use to block aura reading, and CS will save you in case of Iron Maiden.
    • Last, but not least, P3 Claudette and a medkit. You better not get caught, because you know you'll get facecamped. /jk

    A few additional points.

    • No Iron Will. It's an amazing perk, but it's a looping perk, only secondarily for stealth. If you're injured, use your medkit, or crouch, or hide into a locker. Calm Spirit is by far the better stealth perk and we only get so many perk slots, so choices must be made wisely.
    • No Distortion/Sole Survivor etc. Distortion simply doesn't have enough tokens to support this playstyle. Trust the killer main on this one. I've seen this many times and it didn't even faze me. Use lockers at the appropriate moment instead, or get out of range of aura reading abilities (BBQ, Nurse's, etc.) Sole Survivor relies on your team dying, which is contrary to the spirit of this build. This is not a selfish build.
    • No Quick&Quiet. Again, great perk, but too situational. If you have to hop in a locker, scout your surroundings first so you don't waste time when you need it and time it a little early to err on the side of safety. The perk slot is better invested for the perks I listed.
    • Honorable mentions: Diversion, Dance with Me, Off the Record, Lucky Break, Balanced Landing (for grunt suppression), Bond/Empathy/Kindred, Alert/Dark Sense, Stake Out (for early TR detection), Lightweight, Inner Strength (counters Nurse's and it's a great perk in general), Poised, Premonition, Technician, Urban Evasion. These are all perks that range from mediocre to excellent, but either alone or in specific builds, they're more situational and they will lead you to get found more often and in more situations than the build I suggest.

  • If it was a good game, I say gg.

If it wasn't, I simply move on.

  • All patches killer nerfs? Are we playing the same game here?

I honestly think it's because the Nurse neglect got me so numb to changes now.

You're a brave one. I got PH's perks on my Billy and then immediately used up the few cakes I got in the process. Between the FOV bug and the false saws. I'm comfortable saying that the bugs sealed the deal for me before the nerfs.

I like how huntress has exhastion add on as a brown but pyramid has hemorrhage as a purple lol

Huntress is on the list for an add-on pass. It still doesn't explain why BHVR thinks hemorrage is worth of purple rarity.

  • It's not a bait which is a bait...

The answer is very simple. You gained few emblem points, which result in an easy de-pip.

It doesn't mean that you shouldn't play like that if you wish. It simply means that you're displeasing the Entity.

  • @brokedownpalace said:

I would hope it's just an oversight but it's been in the game so long at this point they might actually think it's balanced.

They confirmed it's intended, without giving a reason.

Although, the reason is really simple. In 4 years they haven't been able to add another key bind for different actions and, if they did, we'd probably get bugs where a survivor holds W and the killer starts floating and ends up on a hook in the exit gates.

  • Iron Will is not rare in the red ranks.

  • TBF, they actually said "For the most part, we are happy with the way The Hillbilly performs."

From the way its worded I believe it starts over again. Like "Devoured by the entity after 90 seconds if not picked up". Makes me believe it resets. But yeah Billy mains crying, and then we have streamers like Zubat saying stuff like "Dont understand why they nerfed his basekit, and I dont know how I feel about it. But its not a big deal, if you ever played billy with no addons you probably wont tell the difference. Just happy to see insta-saw go away" Implying he is at least convinced it wont be a big hit to Billy, and that he believes that the add-on rework will kill insta-saw Billy. Which I mean if they dont do that I have no idea what they are doing.

Incase people dont know. Zubat plays A LOT of Billy.

I hope he's right because I usually play without add-ons, although I have a soft spot for double engravings. I guess I'll see when it hits live, the ptb is too much of a pita.

  • Very solid suggestion. I hope it gets some traction. Upvoted.

  • No, it doesn't ring a bell. Maybe because I don't use noed. Galaxy brain move.

  • I don't mind the buff, but destroying the item is a bit of douchey mechanic that we don't need with all the toxicity that plagues this community. Just make it so that the Entity uses up the charges and that a key can't open the hatch without any charges left. No need to destroy items. Fair, balanced.

  • @ATOMIC_ACE_PUGG said:

Yeah because as a killer you can't have fun unless you're facing bad survivors. You must be stressed out at all times and get whiny hate messages from survivors who literally can't hold m1 even with no ruin. 1 survivor vs 4 killers every game

Some of his add-ons are straight-up broken. Same like old survivor stuff that got eventually, and rightfully so, nerfed into the ground. If your idea of fun is game-breaking stuff, then you're better suited single-player games.

The real problem here is the basekit changes.

  • Maybe they'll make more accurate hitboxes (wouldn't hold my breath). In line with the trend, they might make it so that she can't hold a hatchet forever.

However, I'm calling it now. She gets a simple add-on pass. I think the devs really like Huntress. The only thing in a long time they touched that affected her was the survivor hitbox when working on gens or healing.

  • @bjorksnas said:

I'm assuming the aura is only for the killer and only to tell if the item is about to despawn.

So, does it actually despawn, or only the charges are used up?

  • @CrowFoxy said:

    It's already a good perk.

This is kinda just a change I wanted to see. Blinding a killer who has Lightborn as it is, is basically impossible unless you start really early or they mess up real bad and just stare at you.

Taking up one of your 4 precious perk slots tho, probably won't use it except vs flash squads.

Yeah. I don't think why they had to buff that part. The blind protection is already excellent as is. The aura would've been enough.

  • I think it has the same counter as Spirit Fury. Once you know they have it, you pre-drop. And you lose your insta down.

  • Then only survivors with teachable meta perks would be played.

  • I think the devs are going wrong about Billy, but also that the community is failing to recognize certain problems that there are with him. Which, again, the devs are trying to solve in a questionable way, imo.

Billy came out when the game was vastly different. With the rework of maps, pallet numbers, introducing new perks and keeping old add-ons, then a new meta came about that I'm sure the devs saw as problematic. This new meta, popularized by content creators, poses balance problems without a doubt. Slap on Crack Billy or insta saw, pop, corrupt, infectious and bbq. Then everyone is down in under two minutes, or they play it safe and all pallets are gone in two minutes and everybody is slugged by the third one. Test it, you barely have to try to succeed, as long as you have BASIC experiencs. Everything but infectious is even negotiable and you can trade for bamboozle/enduring and get the same results. The game is moving away from gen rushing. It's obvious that the devs don't want kill rushing either.

What I find questionable are the basekit changes. I think the above could've been addressed without touching, or barely touching, his base kit. However, we know how these things roll and we'll likely have to get over it.

  • For fun, for BP. Believe it or not, once you've learned, I find it (mostly) relaxing.

You want stress, then try soloq.

  • I disagree with the basekit Billy changes. Some things on him definetely needed adjustments, notably his add-ons and some synergy with infectious, which has become an issue now, especially on reworked maps. However, we will have to man up and get over it.

Beside that, this tit-for-that mentality serves no purpose. Have fun spamming moris when there's no DC penalty in effect. You will come to enjoy your lobby simulator, eventually.

Also, Ussylis is not really a good source for arguments, because he's very inconsistent in his opinions. For example, you can watch his shameless series and find a counterargument to 'Billy is balanced'.

I was talking about the swf gen rush squad. My power not working was the icing on the cake. Take it down a notch, Scotty.

At no point you were. Trying to backtrack and deflect by condescending doesn't prove your point. However, as a Trekker myself, I appreciate the reference.

  • Voice chat is allowed.

You can go on DbD's official Discord servers and there are special sections where you can create and join a SWF.

Voice chat is literally not cheating beceause it's literally within the rules.

No need to change your mind.

  • Nobody said a game-breaking bug is acceptable and fine. This an argument you concocted out of nowhere. And that argument is invalid.

  • Being a good survivor requires skill. Being a bad survivor doesn't.

    Same for killer.

You're using 2016 arguments when the survivors just needed to hold m1 and run from one to another of a million pallets or to an infinite.

News flash: it's not 2016 anymore.

  • @Alice_pbg said:

the sprint won't overheat the chainsaw.

the problem is that bily needs to use the charge of the chainsaw to mindgame. it's how you play him. and that charge being limited means billy is limited in his mindgame.

The sprint will overheat the chainsaw, but it won't stop sprinting. It will also recover faster when fully overheat, which I suppose it's a way to not penalize his mobility.

  • That's not how it works. Hits are validated killer-side now. If you're swinging through survivors, it's not because of their connection. It doesn't work that way. You simply missed, or you are exaggerating. And let's not pretend Huntress hits are fair right now.

As for server validation, they have already stated there's a margin of tolerance. If that's true, then it won't affect killers with good ping.

  • This sounds pretty cool actually.

  • Weird flex but OK.

  • No. Otherwise, why do you think we're here on the forum all day, instead of playing?

  • Lucky me I laid down Hillbilly a while back and really dread every time I touch him due to all the bugs and ghost saws. He was my first main and the first killer that got me to rank 1.

I'm all for recognizing that certain things were indeed broken on him (Crack Billy, insta saw, infectious and honestly even bamboozle). However, reworking his add-ons was enough. The overheat mechanic seems unnecessary. The only thing they should have touched on his basekit could have been to make it so that a revved saw can't be held indefinitely, similar to Bubba 2.0. That would have been perfectly sufficient.

I guess I'll become a Nurse main. Oh wait...
