  • You're using his attack incorrectly. If they added a flick it would be extremely broken.

  • Unless they changed it recently, they do stack.

That clause in WMI description is a little misleading. It simply means that WMI doesn't stack on itself. So, let's say you do 2 unhooks back to back. You won't get triple speed heals (base+WMI 1+WMI 2), but the normal bonus (base+WMI).

  • If the survivor avoids it, then the killer doesn't know how to use it. Stab the ground when they're going for the pallet or the vault. If they take it, then punishment of the damned. If they don't, then cancel and m1. Either way, you get the hit. The ranged attack is primarily a zoning tool.

  • I don't think it would be a huge blow to the prestiging system if event/discontinued items and offerings stayed when prestiging. However, knowing BHVR, we know the likely answer: cOnSiSTenCy.

  • You're asking for gen time to become Forever Freddy by default. If you did that, then camping to death the first down would mathematically guarantee a 3k at minimum.

  • It should be reworked like Saboteueur was. Remove the ability to detect traps, but buff it in some other way. Maybe make it so that cleansing progress is retained when cancelling the action.

  • Pwyf and Nemesis? I don't see the point of that experiment, then. He's basically going to do a full day to prove something that has already been done and proven before about that Bubba build. I'd hardly call this a major breakthrough. It's more like of a repeat.

    Here's my thoughts:

Unless they're extremely good, then their mind games don't work (for me). You need to treat PH like the huntress when it comes to looping, like literally he acts the exact same. You should know he's going to try and use his range attack once you're at the pallet, so you move to the side and keep running the loop. Only time his range attack should work at a pallet would be if he's right up your butt, but even then you could stun him if he's that close. But yes, he is a very very strong killer and sometimes you can't do anything - especially after unhooking someone.

The only thing I think they should 'nerf' is his ability to see the caged survivors. It takes like 2 seconds to send them to it, and no hook related perks work, so the least they could do is make him oblivious to where the cage is and therefore stop him from travelling to it to camp it. I once witnessed a PH literally face camping a caged person and it's not like the hook - He can actually block anyone from freeing them, which technically is reportable but still.. They need to fix that too.

It doesn't work like a huntress. He still gains distance holding trail, unlike a huntress when she's winded up (at least in a loop situation, not when dodging in the open). Then as PH you can just cancel and m1 if they run through, or pop the ranged attack when they're locked in the animation. There are very few loops where this doesn't work well due to the turning limitation. It's not a matter of being extremely good, it isn't really that complicated of a power. What the survivor could potentially do is to bait they're going to drop the pallet to make him fire, but it's easy to not fall for it.

  • It's on them. Don't trust your enemy, simple as that.

"The ENTITY has discovered voice communication on the other side and has granted the" ... if only Mclean could've finished his sentence before being interrupted.

But seriously, the Devs would not do this because it's kinda weird (and unethical) blocking someone's communication software. They'd likely need permission from Discord if they were to modify how it worked.

Also, people could just use Discord on their mobile phone. Put the mobile phone on your desk and they're good. Then there's the problem with Skype, Teamspeak, Mumble, etc. It's not practical, nor ethical no matter how much you dislike going up against SWF.

The devs won't do this because voice chat is openly allowed, simple as. On DbD's official Discord channel there are special sections to host SWFs.

  • Welcome to necro Friday, I guess.

If you want to replenish your hope for playing killer, watch the likes of Fungoose, Dowsey, Scott Jund, ZubatLEL, etc. These players 4K 39/40 games at red ranks. Fungoose went on a 115 4K streak with no add-ons, no mori Plague at red ranks.

That's a sales pitch. Fungoose is by all means one to watch if you want to learn, but he's a confirmed dodger with his supposedly 'anti-sniping screen' and how he cherry-picks off-peak hours to play in an already small pond where he's the big fish. It's all good and I'd do the same, because streaming for a living is a roller-coaster and one needs something that'll make'em stand out. However, don't put too much stock into the promotional slogans and rather focus more on the educational content.

A good killer could 4k consistently in the red ranks because most survivors aren't that good. Those killers who come here posting about their mental breakdowns are simply overestimating their skills. However, when you're up against the really good survivors, you won't 4k like it's a walk in the park, which is as it should be.

  • It's such a niche perk that it would still be balanced. However, it would need a timer before it triggers due to killer proximity. Probably 10 seconds, similarly to the chaser emblem.

  • Do you mean hacking? I'm pretty sure it's possible, but it may not work out very well for you from a legal standpoint.

If you go through blood webs on a non prestiged character you're way more likely to get event items.

Prestiging a character lessons the odds for common items in your blood web and all the event items are common I believe.

I'm not sure that's the case here, though. Gateaus are common rarity and I get plenty on a P3 lvl 50. Medkits and flashlights seem to be a lot rarer and in that case a prestiged bloodweb should actually help.

Grabbing a crown gives you objective points right?

Probably that's why you went over the normal cap

It could be this, but there's also a bug where sometimes you get rewarded altruism points as killer. That makes you go over the cap as well.

  • Iron Will, SB, DS and the 4th perk is a wild card.

It's more in your control to avoid getting hooked first. I'm able to use deliverance in 90% of my games. And it gives too many moments like these.

    https://youtu.be/Z1szX_hNKBc

    https://youtu.be/Z1szX_hNKBc

    Dedicated servers at their finest...

    Nice escape, though.

    • De-rank.
    • Don't use your power if it's an instadown or damages without on-hit effect (example Vile Purge).
    • Don't camp.
    • Don't tunnel.
    • Hook everyone 3 times.
  • The condition is likely meant to prevent hook suicides after grabbing a crown. However, a bp threshold would've probably been a more sound compromise. Earn something like 12k or escape and you get the cosmetic. So, you're still compelled to play the game normally, but you're not burdened with an overly cumbersome requirement.

This is the result of spendiing over a million on p3 lvl 50 cheril

last year I managed to get easily 50 party starters on nea

Lucky you. I did the same (P3 lvl 50 and a bit more than 1 mil) and I got 3 medkits, 0 flashlights and 29 gateaus. Rarity is insane this time around, if you ask me.

  • Brunette Kate is the best. Change my mind.

  • I got 3 medkits and no flashlights after spending a little more than a million, but they were P3 lvl 50 bloodwebs, so maybe I get better rarity. And still they are incredibly rare, especially compared to past events.

  • Same here. P3 lvl 50 bloodweb, more than one million and got 3 medkits, that's it. I'm a killer main, but I'll try later plundering to see if I have better luck with chests.

  • I've encountered this as well. It's 100% a cheat. The ones I faced also hopped into lockers in my face and it was impossible to grab them.

  • I can confirm. P3 lvl 50 a tad more than 1m bp and I got 3 medkits and no flashlights. I'm getting more skeleton keys and rainbow maps than event items. Compare this to other events where you'd get items every bloodweb and it seems a bit too extreme.

  • I was about to make a question thread about this, to ask exactly what is the rarity of the event items.

I spent more than a million bp on a P3 lvl 50 character and I got 3 event medkits and no flashlight. Gateaus seems to be of common rarity as I get them almost every bloodweb.

  • Probably double engravings on Billy.

Even if the general Layout should stay the same:

Some more safe Pallets (not god Pallets, safer ones) in the Rooms.

    More Drops

Possibly more Staircases/ways to get up and down

Four instead of two entrances to the middle Area

And I guess this Map would be way more playable.

Those would definitely be improvements for both sides. However, I think the second floor would still be problematic, because there's no connectors through the middle.

  • Moot question. Best Kate is brunette Kate. Change my mind.

    P.S. She's visibly blonde.

  • I only play Kate except for challenges, etc. She's my only maxed-out survivors. For the rest, my bp go into my killers.

  • This was the most bland example of 'entitlement' you could come up with. They're still in the wrong, but if we measured the offense on a scale from 1 to 10, then meh.

  • -No need to scape with the crown, because as killer you don't need to kill or do anything challenging.

I think the logic was to prevent hook suicides after finding the crown, which seems reasonable. Maybe an adjustment could be made where the survivor has to accomplish something else that ensures they've been productive, like making at least 10k in the trial and if they're hooked they must struggle.

They should just rework OoO already, it only benefits SWF and tryhards. Just an overall extremely unhealthy perk.

I mean, all reasons behind Undetectable were to kinda touch OoO indirectly, but it's not like it took a huge hit in the end. It's more or less as good as before. It ended up being more of a shadow nerf to other aura-reading perks that were perfectly fine instead, such as Alert, Breakdown, etc.

This map needs to disabled and reworked, it is not working. BUT considering they can't even fix the event cakes during THE EVENT, I have zero faith in this team

Konami probably has an ironclad agreement in the license. I think BHVR could make some tweaks, but the map itself is fairly accurate compared to the SH version, so I doubt we will ever see any major changes.

  • Also, survivors should spawn next to a hook and be unable to move for 60 seconds at the beginning of the trial and their aura be visible for 10 seconds.

  • Yes, you can use a 4th perk. I got it done with quick&quiet, but you can choose whatever you like.

  • Because most of them are essentially rank 5's who occasionally pip up and bounce back and forth purple and the very bottom of red ranks. Add to that that rank is not a great indication of skill to begin with and you have your answer.

  • You should post this in Q&A. I don't know if it's bannable, but I can tell you that the 'advantage' of a script is to get rid of the nuisance of mashing buttons. Other than that, it doesn't make you wiggle or struggle faster. The game works as such that you either wiggle or not, struggle or not. The process can't be sped up.

    Low effort. KEKW

Only if the Survivors are stupid enough to hang out near enough to get hooked there.

Yes, maps are designed so that there's nothing for survivors to do near the basement. They should just hang around the other side of the map, so they will never be hooked downstairs, which is a place you obviously like to camp.

lol, you'd think someone with a demo picture would understand that demo's far and beyond PH's strength

my thoughts: big head, meh power

Thanks for the in-depth and well-reasoned answer. I'll be sure to keep your feedback in its rightful consideration.

  • It's the killer equivalent of the pre-3.7 god windows, i.e. an antiquated feature for one-dimensional low-effort gameplay. It also has some lore appeal.

  • A-tier. Those complaining about how easily his ranged attack can ne dodged haven't realized that it's a zoning tool with minimal counterplay. His cages are also powetful when used after the first hook.

Once the meta will stabilize, he's gonna be one of the common killers in the red ranks.

  • @gofu said:

If the killer was so desperate to move to the furthest side of the map from him (where the cages spawn by the game), then continue to tunnel you, you should have had at least 3 gens done by then, it's like a facecamping bubba, you're helpless.

It' might be farthest, but it's rarely far.

If you go down in the middle, then geometrically you're never that far. A survivor hardly goes down at the very edge of the map, because there are no resources there. Also, it's also not a guaranteed that there are survivors right near the cage to insta rescue. Even then, the caged person is injured and can be tunneled immediately without consequence.

You can watch Zubat's latest where he played survivor. You'll see how very often a survivor gets caged and the terror radius is audible at the cage moments later.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

They've said many times facecamping is a strategy that if you want to employ, they won't ban you. Plus, name a fix that wouldn't be incredibly exploitable, I'll wait.

This tip was added because it'd very prevalent on movile, maybe because they don't know better, maybe because it's free to play so more trolls exist than normal.

Also, this isn't anything like a hostage situation. You die in 2 minutes and survivors can take the risk to save you.

We can go on and brainstorm a thousand ideas that would at least improve the situation. Kindred basekit has been suggested many times, for example. Make it so that hook grabs don't work anymore, similar to the hatch, so at least survivors can get a 1v1, which is still advantageous for the killer. Make BT proc upon any unhook so it's not cheese countered by sneaky camps. Disconnect hook time and hook stages, i.e. you die on your third hook or after 2 minutes total, so instant re-hooks are not as rewarding. There are many possibilities that could at least be considered and tested to see how they work out. Obviously, it doesn't have to be all of them. Do that and stuff like DS could be nerfed into oblivion and the game still be fair.

But the devs are convinced otherwise. @Almo says that it's the survivors that reward camping, despite evidence that is not always the case. @Peanits says that camping is an intended mechanic because it can be punished by survivors, despite solos not having anywhere near enough information to do that. On top of that we get Pyramid Head and his cages that don't count as hooks for anything except... wait for it.... hook stages. Oh and moris, they count for moris too somehow. It seems clear that 'consistency' is something that is used very conveniently as justification only for those changes that are cherry-picked.

Survivors aren’t entitled to 2 extra chances. They’re simply an available possibility. If a survivor gets caught and hooked, they need to accept that they may very well die, hence be more careful in the first place.

If the game were intended that survivors should be 100% guaranteed 2 additional chances, then the game wouldn’t have a hook system but a respawn system instead.

This is exactly what killed Deathgarden. Just saying. Nobody likes to load into a casual game and have an insignificant chance to play it. Again, another issue, because the devs view DbD as competitive, despite the bugs and the plethora of unbalanced items and features.

  • That's a lot of work. Much appreciated.

  • I've never heard anything negative about it. Any killer who wants a 4k will simply slug the next-to-last survivor. Now, DC'ing for the hatch is another story, although that comes with a built-in punishment.

  • @NursesBootie said:

You got problems against huntress too? Because the counterplay at pallets is easentially the same.

No, it's not. The only similarity is that the survivor is guaranteed to get hit if they lock themselves in the drop animation if the killer has winded up.

  • cOnSiSteNCy strikes again. Pretty good job so far.

  • It's kinda of a good thing. It's a cosmetic and not even a p2w one. I would be pretty pissed if it was that DLC that costed that much.

Enjoy that the game is staying in its normal price range. If people want to buy crappy overpriced cosmetics, that doesn't hurt the rest of the players' base.

  • It's almost as if Deathgarden didn't teach anything to BHVR.
