So whats the basement for?

Just asking, The design of it WANTS the killer to chill in the near area doesnt it?

What is the point of an area where its hard to get out safely when you dont use it?

just to clarify I dont basement camp, im just asking if the design of the basement doesnt encoruage camping.

  • It's a guaranteed risky save. Doesn't mean the Killer is chilling nearby. If I see someone going down there or they unhook and I'm close enough, I can walk over and hit/down one of the Survivors before they get out of the shack.

Yeah its meant to be camped. Anytime i go against a 4 man gen rush squad i try and get someone down there. You rush my gens you better be willing to give me a sacrifice. Which is the point. Id be much more sympathetic to the "camping is bad" argument if gens couldnt go so fast

  • It's a massive often game winning threat if proxy camped.

  • It's the killer equivalent of the pre-3.7 god windows, i.e. an antiquated feature for one-dimensional low-effort gameplay. It also has some lore appeal.

    Low effort. KEKW

Only if the Survivors are stupid enough to hang out near enough to get hooked there.

Yes, maps are designed so that there's nothing for survivors to do near the basement. They should just hang around the other side of the map, so they will never be hooked downstairs, which is a place you obviously like to camp.

  • It's a time waster more than anything to my mind. It takes longer for survivors to make a rescue from the basement than it does a regular hook, however it also takes longer for a killer to hook someone in the basement as well - it's rare I use it unless there's really no other option because of that reason. If the basement is in the shack and the survivor goes down in the shack, then yeah I'll use the basement then and know that it's going to take longer for that person to be rescued - which buys me a bit of time to get to gens and more chases.

The real answer is basement chest protector Insidious Bubba.

Well I mean this goes without mention. Beside this noble purpose, its really good for defensive killers like Trapper or Hag. It can turn a game around if the killer plays a bit defensively and the survivors dont play around it wisely. Not gonna call it camping but yeah if you camp the basement Im sure statistics would show you have an increased chance of getting more kills.

  • For the survivor it's a place to distract the killer for as long as possible, especially in situations where gens nearby to the shack have been completed, allowing other survivors to take advantage of a by-now fumming killer.

For the Killer, it's a tactical area used to control map pressure and distract survivors from their objective and create mistakes or risky plays.

People may say otherwise, and they would also be right! It's however you wish to play it.
