I don't know if you'd be interested in my memories here, some are sad as we've seen a lot over the years.
I remember the post regarding David King and how much it meant to someone about the representation, and it was so well written and heartfelt it really stuck with me. And made me look at things in a different light.
We've had some good times and bad and its been nice seeing you all through this time.

We do not take bug reports from the Forums, please post any and all bugs onto Betahub which you can do directly from Discord or from the Betahub website: https://app.betahub.io/projects/pr-5642738318
-
Really love this, and looking forward to giving it a bit of a deep dive!
-
We will still be supporting the forums until closure. And the places for feedback doesn't change, Reddit, Forums (including Steam forums) and Discord are where my team monitors.
-
I completely understand a lot of the sentiment here, I've been on these forums since before they opened and I have a lot of some very fond memories here - its been a wild ride with you all in some cases and I personally am very sad to be saying goodbye.
-
Thank you for writing such a detailed post, you've raised some really interesting points and for sure will be sharing this with our Design team!
-
We don't give much information on how this impacts MMR as we don't want MMR to be the focus here. The player stats also will likely take some time to update as they're going through their own UI related things, given the way things are represented in the game and the Stats page doesn't take from in-game data but from the game's UI.
I believe the change in wording to Surrender definitely indicates that this is losing a match overall.

Ok that makes sense. Thanks for the answer!
I'm also looking forward to tomorrow's PTB. It look really promising and I'm happy you finally do another big metashift with some changes for more and healthier perk variety!
I'm looking forward to it as well - as a player as well as my job!
We're gonna need you all to be really tight on the feedback, so that perk names are mentioned clearly etc as this is going to be a lot to keep track of. -
@HolyDarky said:
@Mandy is there a special reason why the Japanese account shares more perk changes than the official dev update? It just feels a bit off to me when different accounts share different information :/
This is part of making sure Regions get slightly different information, and more to what is discussed in their communities - rather than just a translated version going out to all the regions. The CM's for that region are responsible for what they come up with based on the PTB information.

I was hoping we would, but we're getting the perk update and the chat wheel in one patch, and we're getting 58 perk changes instead of 45? Whether the changes end up being good or not, for a mid chapter I'm pretty excited for this patch.
it is indeed quite a bit in this patch!

Previous bans are still very much in place on the Discord, the rules have not changed on that platform. And we do not take ban appeals for social media outside of the Discord process.
-
There is no way to do this accurately and without it being abused, so our stance remains the same that the disconnect penalty will apply for any unauthorised leaving of the game - as the game is still being ruined for the 4 other players.
-
If EAC has applied a ban, there is nothing that we can do - we cannot unban if EAC has banned you. It is with them that the appeal is - and like us, they do accept one appeal where the accounts etc are checked.

Understandable, but if possible. Can you have the multipliers back to 5x on survivor? And on the killer's end have their score combine? For example a Wesker gets a 40K and a Nemesis gets 30K. Both would get 70K BP!
There was no plans to increase the BP gains at this time, its feedback we can take back to the team of course, but I do not believe it will change to 5x again (also had no impact on queue times etc)
-
@Angy_Quentin said:
Well, at least you dont have to suffer rhrough 15 min queue times because the devs refuse to acknowledge 2v8 queue times issues.
we have acknowledged the issues with queue times and we are pretty stuck when it comes to allieviating these, which is why PWYW was implemented.
-
The whole thing with 2v8 is not its not the regular game, its definitely more of a casual game. And its intended to have that difference to the base game and one of those is that offerings are not designed to work with the mode in any capacity and that includes bloodpoint increasing offerings.

Translation "Mandy borrows Trickster's bat and walks out of the door"
I can not confirm or deny…

aahhhh the forum has received an update…thanks for letting me know that changed as well, I'll go and see what I can do to re-adjust it.

It should not have any impact on an Initialisation Error. We do not offer any tech support on the forums I'm afraid, I do suggest reaching out to Player Support.

For information regarding release times on Switch 2. We do not have an ETA for the 2nd of the two BugFix patches as yet, it can be up to a week after the release on other platforms.
FAQ for Nintendo Switch Release Time Changes – Dead by Daylight
-
Crossplay is currently off on Switch because they are on a different version to the other platforms. Switch is on the release update - whilst other platforms are on the Bugfix Patch 1 version, which Switch does not receive. Approximately a week after Bugfix Patch 2 is released, Switch will receive that update (for them a combined Bugfix Patch 1 & 2), and then crossplay will resume.
https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/articles/41351715602580-FAQ-for-Nintendo-Switch-Release-Time-Changes This is the FAQ that has full information. -
We do not balance the game for the top 1% of players - we balance for the players in that majority area, which is why there can be more imbalance in the lower and top levels of MMR.
Vigil was changed because it negatively impacts killer powers. It did far too much in reducing the times for all status effects, so one perk counteracts way too many things.
The majority of players ran it for exhaustion reduction, and that is the one we kept albeit at a reduced rate.
-
I'm not even sure if that's real or an attempted joke…
But no, that's not something we would consider in the game at all.
-
There's definitely interest to add this for other killers when they get updates done to them, its a lot of extra work so it is not something that will roll out across all of them at once.
The controller sensitivity for survivor movement is already equal to K&M so probably isn't needed.
-
Third party programmes can trigger Anti Cheat yes, and that's no different during the Anti Cheat trials, the same thing can happen with EAC as well. This is very much use at your own risk.
-
The anti cheat trials does not change anything with Perk Icons, they have always been use at your own risk.

Its absolutely irresponsible to have literally no transparancy at all on MMR while it is the determining factor for matchmaking and therefor completely responsible for how good our games will be. I dont want to get again into low-MMR-hell just because there is no way I can know what i have to do to avoid loosing MMR as long as my teammates are completely useless due to MMR reset.
Ive now played several games with people under 100h of playtime that cant loop a killer long enough so that the team has even a chance at escapes.
Exactly why the system doesn't focus on kills and escapes on its own anymore, your own progress in the match is counted heavily - so your own chases etc.

Dev Q&A Livestream - Oct 7, 2021
Why do killers get to use Hex once, but survivors can keep blessing totems?
[Patrick] First, remember that we have a few nerfs coming.
Boon totems are range limited support mechanics, and wastes time since survivor is not on a generator. Hexes are global and game changing, , so they have the risk of being cleansed.
For example, during design we said "boon totems cannot affect gen repair speeds".I guess, not anymore?
The simple answer here, is Never say Never - this is a live service game, and what stands true one year, might not be the same the next year. We have to change and adapt and new ideas are part of that.
-
Given the nature of the trial we are not disclosing the exact length of it.
I'm sorry that you do not think this is a useful test in any way.

There is a rumor that you wont gain mmr if you slug without hooks, is that true?
that is categorically, not true
-
@Piruluk said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4112384#Comment_4112384
Yeah hooking a lot gives mmr so want to avoid that now
but you will still get MMR…
Slugging is not going to be a way to avoid getting MMR I'm pleased to say. -
@Arcturus said:
Escapes and kills are still the main determining factor, but a lot of the stuff that effects badges (the ones to pip) also play a factor. Basically that means as killer, things like getting more hooks rewards you more MMR / you lose less (from my understanding), and for survivor things like altruism and gens completed it's the same.
If you're 8 hooking then getting a 4k, you're probably getting maximum MMR increase. The flaw with the system is that slugging and getting a 4k with zero hooks effectively keeps your MMR low which is people's concern. If you want to be able to keep your MMR low to be able to 8 hook, I don't think that's what you should be aiming for. You should be in your own lobbies, and if you want to still be able to 8 hook or similar before killing like I try to do, I usually just end up running stronger perks. Other than that, if you want to be chill you can give hatch. But please don't intentionally lower your MMR.
I double checked this and no, because of the way the system calculates the MMR (don't forget it's like a 1v1v1v1 etc) then that is not going to be the way you keep your mmr low.

except that just isnt the case as everyone i know tests their killers on ptb to see if theres any bugs or issues and they didnt say anything similar to this on any other ptb, kaneki worked on over 100 ping which has never over the course of his existence been the case, and thats just one example, the ptb having a lighter load is not the issue
Kaneki was special case, as I already explained.
-
I think I understood the post…but the answer would be that is not possible, if system specifications do change (please notice the if there not a when), then it would change for all players and all platforms, there is no way to get the older graphics that would work on the same systems.
Unfortunately gaming is an expensive hobby.
-
I think calling out one side over the other is hardly conducive to a good discussion, so your title is pretty imflammatory.
We have said many times with the Judgement that they are a hard killer to play correctly (with the pay off that they're also one of the strongest) - very very few people are even close to mastering them yet so we're being very careful on any changes that we think we need to make at this stage whilst we see how things play out.
-
We are unable to re-issue Legacy to players who have lost them. Steam achievements are not proof of character, and unfortunately are very easy manipulatable.
Whilst it is with regret that we are unable to return Legacy to those who lost it back then, it is not possible to verify player accounts so we will not return Legacy players.
-
There is a lot of misinformation out there.
There was no change making killers client sided in the PTB, nothing at all.
There was a change made to Wesker on the PTB which impacted Ghoul, however we were required to dial back the changes due to the issues that it caused with Weskers grabs. But this did not impact any other killer and was necessary to dial it back.

there absolutely was something on the ptb that effected every killer and their input, ghoul worked on over 100 ping, every single killer player mentioned their own killers feeling better with faster inputs, implying that nothing was reverted, or that something was different on the ptb then on the current build of the live game is baffling to say the least.
even still, is the change to wesker, that effected ghoul ever coming back or is it being scrapped? because wesker on live still functions differently, so if hes still not working, and ghoul did, i dont really see why the change shouldnt be pushed forward soon.
For right now no there's no plans to go back to that PTB version with Wesker given the further problems it caused.
What you might have been noticing on the PTB is just the PTB can often be smoother overall - quite a few people notice this in many PTB's, given less player numbers etc. Definitely there was nothing for the killers and input controls or netcode.
-
This is part of a recent Anti Cheat update, where some older drivers which are vulnerable to security attacks are blocked from starting the game.
To remove the warning error you need to update your software to later versions.

Will we also get back the old UI for the ready button? The new one is pretty ugly and the timer for how long I'm in queue is unnecessary. The info for how long it will take to find a lobby was so good, why did you removed it?
this is a bug and the estimated queue time will return!
As for the new UI, we've shared the feedback on it - but I have nothing further to share on that I'm afraid.
-
It will take a number of matches to recalculate where players MMR should be, probably over the course of the next few days but there still might be some random matches after that as players newly log in to the game etc.

no problem! Its a lot of information to take in at once and easily missed
-
Directly from the Blogpost - we have tested it with SteamDeck and all is good!
-
We tried to be very clear around the PTB time that this Killer is going to take some learning - its not a Killer that you're just going to pick up and play well instantly, it is very high skilled, probably one of the highest (if not the highest) in the game so far.
I know that's not for everyone, not everyone wants to put the time into learning how to play a killer - or has the time even with how busy life can get (yes that's me!), but we fully expect those who are putting the time in and can pick up this killer to be absolutely beasts with it. We also need to see how survivors are able to adapt to the power, its part of why we were looking at the vignette and what would be required there. Its going to take some time before things start to become apparent here.

can you comment on if the change will come back? it positively effected literally every killer in the game with the exception of wesker, could he have not been the soul exception? because powers feeling unresponsive because of ping is definitely an issue and this change solved it, surely we wouldnt just scrap it?
there was nothing in the PTB that affected every killer - I am not sure where that's coming from, as we did nothing on our side for that and we have not reverted anything that impacted other killers, Wesker bug fixes that sidely affected Ghoul aside, and those could in no way impact other killers outside of those two.
It is complete misinformation that we changed netcode for the killers in the PTB.

Hope yous are getting enough feedback on the zealous curve window as well! It feels a lot like a non-mechanic like op said and ive been feeling the same way. Noone seems to really use it with how small it is.
yeah its definitely something we're looking at - we knew we likely wouldn't have this number right the first time around and we went pretty safe with it, its one that's pretty easy to adjust also.
