  • I know what you're saying. I'd rather toy with confused kids during midday, then get sweated by an SWF hit-squad after work at near midnight.

    @RickJames said:

Yeah I feel you it really sucks how unfun the game is vs a really good team when IMO it should be more fun vs a good team but it ends up just being super frustrating and tedious.

Depends on the team. I've had great games where they've almost got the last generator done, only to have my hidden blade pierce their backs.

  • It's like having car insurance. You have it, but hope you don't need to use it. You can't always rely on potato teammates, especially without them running Empathy or Bond, or you ha ing Bond yourself.

It also combines well with med-kits to keep them around a little longer.

If then person who unhooks you has to split because the killer came back, it's also a good chance to get healed anyway.

My Running build is currently Self Care/ Botany Knowledge/ [Exhaustion]/ Decisive Strike. Good to run a killer and be self sufficient.

  • I'd love to see this and I've had a mate recommend that I say something about adding them, but my question about this always remains the same:

    What will his power be?

You wouldn't mind recording some of your gameplay and uploading it to YouTube for us, would you?

I would like to see you play a few matches as Billy, if you'd indulge me.

Well, yes. Because A) I'm on Xbox, so I can't get my recordings. Or have commentary to go with it B) Matchmaking is broken as and I haven't played killer for a full reset after it happened and C) I don't have an account to upload to.

All I will say is this, you don't have to believe me, but know that I am telling the truth here. I played a game as Billy on Yamaoka Estate. I got done badly. No kills. I had zero clue about Hillbilly's power and my perks were all chase. I know I had Enduring/Fury, but I forget what else. They were also higher purple, to my then low green. SWF. And super toxic.

I played another game, a day later. Coldwind Farm, aka Cornfield City. Small perk swaps for limited tracking to lead to a chase. I dominated, and I dominated HARD. Baiting pallets, that lead into chainsaws, one lucky sprint down, better curving. Easy 4k, and they were all my rank and randoms. They didn't play bad. I had zero tunnelling or camping.

What mechanical differences were there? I curved better because I had a slightly better understanding of his power. Same sprints for ground cover. Same basic attacks in jungle gyms. Same chainsaw bait.

Just better mind-games. THAT was the biggest part. And not versing sweaty SWF. If I can pick up a killer and start doing well after one bad game, and please note, I'm a STEALTH killer main, with limited Spirit play, then Hillbilly is a very easy killer to play.

I played a few more games, just to make sure. Same thing at my ranks. Easy 4k. Very little mechanical play. Sprint and hit.

    *The viable killer problem.

I can do one of these for every killer, but 90% of them will be about the people who play them.

And FFS, I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH VIABLE KILLERS. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH LOW EFFORT KILLERS GETTING HIGH REWARDS.

I acknowledge that there are high-skill Billies, but that is the ceiling, not the floor.

Elitist is not the word but still red ranks have 90% of potatoes it's why the survival rate is very low. Hillbilly being a played godly is very rare same goes for spirit and nurse. Saying Hillbilly is OP clearly come from the player. I'm not a god survivor but can smash a lot of very good hillbilly, HE the most balanced killer but lethal at the right hands and survivors don't like that.

    @Sluzzy said:

It's a sad state of affairs when survivors have run out of ideas to nerf when actually wanting Hillbilly nerfed. A 100% loopable killer.

I did not say once that he is OP or needs a nerf. I said quite the opposite. I even said what we need to BRING LITERALLY EVERY OTHER KILLER to the level of Hillbilly.

And I said that he has a very low skill floor for such a high reward, and this is a problem.

If it did not come across this way, then i genuinely apologise.

Your opinion is not worth hearing if you can't even play at red ranks. US red ranks know how Hillbilly is overrated but potatoes that's the difference between red ranks and the rest.

Curving need a lot of skill and can be countered like pretty every of his technics. Yesterday i've played against a R1 Hillbilly who knows how to flick and everything and looped him into oblivion but my team was bad so we lost. So please as a matter respect don't talk about high level play when you're not yourself please.

    Ok, elitist.

I can play at red ranks, but I myself am not a red rank due to time limiations, and getting camped by bad green rank killers due to poor matchmaking.

Enough clarification? Are you contempt with continuing to tear apart the community with your toxic attitude? Feel good about yourself for "sHoWiNg A pLeBiAn HiS pLaCe?"

I said that I don't want to be a red rank, because I take this game casually and they are way too sweaty as a whole. I am a rank 5 survivor, and I'll push to red to say I've hit red, but it doesn't feel like I've accomplished anything. It only feels like I've spent more time than I need to into one side to achieve this rank that doesn't really mean anything and will be taken away within a few weeks.

Can I loop like Noob, Monto or Odz? No. And I never will.

No I didn't actually. It's just a thought that I've had for a while after versing Billies like PC Reds versed old Nurse and playing him myself multiple times to see what all the fuss is about.

It would be great if killers could stop getting nerfed for one moment. There's already an imbalance due to match making. Even looking at your pictures, you might be red ranks, but barely any of the survivors you went against were.

I never said I was in red ranks. And quite frankly, I don't want to be. Too much sweat for my more casual approach.

I'm rank 5 survivor, who plays with Reds quite a bit. Killer, though, I'm only in low green due to simply not putting in enough time, or care, with rank 8 at my all time high.

Not to mention the ONE photo of my gameplay that I have sent was imbalanced matchmaking where, at rank 7, I was paired with a 3, 19 and 20. Vs. a 2. In its own thread to question matchmaking

  • @NullEXE said:

Now, a lot of people are going to cry "JUNGLE GYMS!" or "INFINITE LOOPS!", but we can't always use them. Not every Survivor is a running god with map knowledge over every variation of the maps. Some are more easy to mind game out of their hiding spots, or cut off loops.

I'm not sure if this is a "nerfy billy" thread or a "Buff other killers thread", but I came in here to say that Billy is easy to counter if you know how to, and then you mentioned this line. Which confirms it. So yeah. Billy is easy to counter if you know how to. I know that OhTofu on his stream will play billy for 1 match to squash a whole team of potato's then gloat around like as if he's good, or that everyone's right billy is too strong, but that's the problem. He squashed potato's. Billy is easy to learn, and is strong when you play him well, but a good survivor knows how to counter him. Starting with getting out of the way when they hear the chainsaw - you lose a few seconds on a gen moving off to make sure he's not charging at you, but that's the first step to countering him. Then it's just tight corners, and good looping skills.

I agree entirely that Killer's need buffs to be as strong as Billy in the right hands though. Like Clown, or Bubba (that's right I said Cannibal don't @ me).

It's really more of a "Why does such a low skill floor killer have literally everything except stealth, and rule the game?" kind of post, which is more of a "Buff Killers all around" kind of thread if I had to categorise it as one of those.

And I will make this clear now for any future readers: I am focusing on Skill FLOOR and not ceiling.

  • I get patrolling a hooked survivor, especially with over-altruistic groups, but FFS, face-camping me with a chainsaw is just too far.

Same with Hag traps. They shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a hook, or give her the camping penalty for her traps.

If killers want change, and GOOD change, then they all collectively (not all, obviously) and NOT camp/tunnel for a few months. With exceptions, of course. If they're getting teabagged, then by all means.

They complain about Decisive Strike so much, but from a survivor's point, it's a case of mutually assured destruction. You tunnel me, I WILL stab you.

Doctor isn't even overpowered and you're complaining. Seriously, killer isn't fun anymore because you guys sit there spamming the forums that "Killer name needs to be nerfed because I suck at DBD and don't know how to change my play style!"

Yeah. Like Killers are any better. I could point to all the "Dead Hard/Adrenaline/DS OP" threads on here, or the overabundance of "Gen Times" threads too.

Both sides cry like babies and need to grow up and you are just perpetuating the problem.

I wouldn't use the word salty. Uninformed is more accurate.

As soon as I read the phrase "Billy requires little mechanical skill", I stopped reading because that's all I needed to know from you.

It's common knowledge among veteran players that Billy is one of the few killers who requires a fair amount of mechanical skill to play optimally.

I'm not denying that pros can do some fantastic things with Billy, but it's like Mercy or Lucio in Overwatch. Very little is required at a basic level, but there is build up. Just not enough for me.

    @ABannedCat said:

    Hillibilly is overrrated.

He has mobility, and onehit if he gets people outpositioned, yes. But since maps are littered with ultra-safe braindead loops, he just eats pallets like every other M1-killer. He is a noobstomper, since new players don't know how to utilise the loops, which will most likely get him nerfed in the future. However any semi-experienced player will never get chainsawed by Billy at all. He has to M1 good players, because curving does not work on the vast majority of the loops.

I'm not exactly new. I've been playing since Legion's release, but not all of us can exactly recognise god-loops. Or run a killer for days.

I'm at rank 5 on console at time of post playing stealth. Not much looping.

    @HazeHound said:

Devs stated multiple times that Billy is their go to when it comes to balance. Its not that he is too strong, its other killers that are too easy to bully with second chances and bodyblocking. Oh you bodyblock? So you get the chainsaw, enjoy. He is what killers are supposed to be, dangerous during every stage of the trial but not broken.

You can 360 chainsaw and that is not too hard. Smart Billy will just wait but answer to this is not doing 1 spin, just 360 until he uses it. He is also weak to looping, if you know how use 4 major maze tiles you are safe. When you do stupid mistake though he is the killer that will punish you, just like Myers and Leatherface. But the truth is, you will have much easier time against Billy than Trapper or Clown (anti loop specs). If you are good survivor. If not then you are easy prey while other killers have to hit you twice, wasting much more time on you.

Imo he is the strongest when comparing time to learn to effectiveness, but good Nurse (even this ######### nurfed crap we have now) will outperform Billy against smart survivors. Problem with Nurse now, she is way harder to get into than ever and actually not fun to play even if you go into her.

Edit: If you think something is overpowered but not because of a bug then abuse it. Best argument is always and example showed.

Edit2: @ABannedCat I agree with you but I don't think he is overrated, even with m1 only, his mobility on bigger maps is a winning factor and shear possibility of having that instadown on cramped maps prevents survivors from stealth play (i really have good time as Billy on Lery's because of it).

And balancing every other killer around him says a lot about the state of the game then. I do want every other killer to meet Billy in power, but as a baseline, he has literally everything except Stealth. I'd rather see Freddy as this golden standard.

  • I mean that I spent time trying to say how one of the easiest characters to pick up and play, and one that also has the largest amount of utility in one power, is kind of a problem.

I outline how I have come to this conclusion and my own personal struggles against them, and I get dismissed as a salty player. I even say how other killers who have a higher skill floor are currently less rewarding than him.

I even say "I WANT STRONG KILLERS, but I don't think that Hillbilly should rule the game as Nurse or Spirit has before." I don't mind him being good, just not THE best killer in the game.

And I get dismissed, told to try ridiculous challenges, offered no explanation as to why Billy should be stronger than other former top-tier characters.

But no real feedback. Nobody actually considering that I might just have a point based on the comments here. Just people explaining to me things that I already know about how the rating ssytem is wrong and why. Or that what I've observed is wrong simply because one other person hasn't.

  • I dunno about more user control and skill.

Oni has very similar abilities to Hillbilly, but requires effort in order to get his power active. His power also works the same way as Hillbilly's. In fact, I'd say that Oni has more user control and skill and Hillbilly, considering you have more control over his instant-down power, and still have a dash with instant down to boot.

Oni is harder to play as Billy, and that's just fact. You are a basic killer until you have people bleeding out all over the floor, and then you have a power. Your dash has a wind-up has him, and not quite as much or the same amount of turning, but your other mode of instant-down is literally your lunge.

Premonition tells you when you are looking at the Killer

Spine Chill tells you when the Killer is looking at you

OoO against undetectable tells you when you are looking at the Killer.

Guess which of the first 2 perks is the better comparison.

    @FireHazard said:

Premonition gives an audio cue with a set cool-down afterwards

Spine-Chill tells you when the Killer is looking at you, in this case it's reversed, hence why I said "a reverse spine-chill"

OoO against undetectable tells you when you're looking at the Killer yes, it does so by flashing the perks color on and off, its the opposite of how Spine-Chill actually works, but in this case it's a reverse of who activates it, Premonition gives an audio cue and that's it.....

We're not going to agree on this Nuclear, sorry.

You're both right, and have entered a circular argument.

Yes, Premonition does give you an auditory queue, and it is based on when you look at the killer. OoO doesn't but it does tell you. The trade-off here is that you have a cooldown at the cost of not revealing yourself.

It works the same way as Spine Chill with the flashing of the perk. It's based on one target looking at the other. The literal only difference is WHO activates the perk.

  • @SanityNight said:

How about we stop changing the killers for once

I can agree with not calling for nerfs, but playing killer, and mainly for 90% of the roster, is an absolute JOKE.

More than half the killers are unplayable above Yellow ranks, and only 3 are regularly seen anywhere higher than rank 5. We all need to bring the rest of the killer roster up to meet those few peaking at the top.

  • You try and do something thoughtful...........

  • DS is fine. It's just 5% of the playerbase that uses it and 10% of the killer base playing against it.

It's already been explained a million times that you can chase someone else, down and hook them, then find the DS survivor by chance, chase and down them, and STILL get hit with DS. I literally go out of my way to not tunnel and it still gets me, it's ridiculous.

It almost sounds like you're either a little too aggressive with your play, OR you've been baited.

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

I think Billy is rated easy because

    • A new player will enjoy success using his chainsaw purely for map control and rely on his M1 for attacks
    • A veteran player has the both incredible map control and an instadown with no cooldown, plus an almost limitless number of instasaw addons

Old Doctor on the other hand is rated hard because

    • Very tricky to get used to the stance switching for a new player
    • Very difficult for a veteran player to beat good survivors using poor underpowered doc compared to other killers.

I get that, but it just feels bad that Hillbilly can so easily out-perform old Doctor. I do see his new iteration as more of a Freddy than a Nurse.

  • I wish that Yui was a little bigger. Not much. She just seems a little flat.

Kate is my second choice, though. But that's basically a 9.8 vs. a 9.7

I would take either in a heartbeat.

  • I pay for the new characters because I want there to be support for the game financially, and I don't pay for cosmetics. I have before for my Spirit's kimono, but that's because I feel weird with her rather young appearance (I know the Devs say that there will never be any kids in the game, but she honestly looks like a teenager......) and those bandages. Plus the kimono looks good.

If a character isn't doing well, though, or I don't REALLY want or need them, then I've waited before for that chapter to go on sale.

There are simply no other killers aside from billy / nurse where any mechanical skill is required whatsoever.

Funny, that you do not want to play in red ranks.. i mean why? According to you he doesn't require any mechanical skill so just chainsaw everybody 5m infront of you. Should take you 3-4 min per game.

Even compared to other killers, he requires more mechanical skill than others aside nurse.

Then why is he labelled as an "EASY" killer to play, where as someone like Doctor is labelled "HARD"? Shouldn't those labelled "HARD" require more mechanical skill, and therefore be more rewarding/powerful? THIS is the main point of my argument.

Yes, a lot of Spirit's power is in the mind game, but that is due to how her power is based. Myers, Plague, Pig, Freddy, Trapper and Hag all require some level of resource management.

There are respectable Billies out there, but I've faced so many that his image is permanently tainted, but it does not influence the bias of what I am saying. I never supported the Devs with Nurse changes, but I understood why they needed to happen. I supported the Devs in their Spirit changes, with body collision and Prayer Beads because they were a necessary change.

And I personally find that curving Billy's saw is more about reading your opponent, and the occasional good weave, rather than mechanics.

Can we both agree though that we'd all rather see a good Hillbilly than one of those obnoxious camping Leatherfaces, though? I hate him way more than Hillbilly.

he is only #3 so both freddy and spirit both out preform him so he is in fact by any metric #1.

    Give me more information.

If I told you it was against survivors all running perks like Hope and We're Gonna Live Forever against killers with perks like Monstrous Shrine and Beast of Prey, would you believe me? Would you call that a good measure of a killer's power?

All I am asking is for statistics on perk, item and add-on builds to help expand on this data and make it more accurate. Is that too much to ask for?

  • @Endstille said:

I stopped reading when you wrote requires no mechanical skill because that is where you are wrong. Hillbilly is next to nurse the only killer which do require any sort of mechanical skill in the game to begin with.

Curving is something you will have to learn for tiles etc.. since you claim it is so easy to do and there is no requirement, i suggest you play now 50 matches in red ranks. You go 4k each game, only use the saw. Record and upload.

Did I forget to physically write the IMPLIED "Compared to other killers"?

And yes, I acknowledge curving. Also, no I will not play in red ranks. I am not that sweaty. I am talking about chainsawing someone who is 5m in front of you.

  • And how much hidden information is there, huh?

It does not account for perk builds, add-ons, Survivor perks, items or add-ons. You can't just toss that at me and expect to fall in line.

This was also taken a while ago and is out of date.

  • There is nothing balanced about the highest mobility in the game with an instant down. Not any more.

Not when you are objectively the strongest killer in the game and one of the easiest to play.

  • I am expecting so much hate for this.

If they go by that idea than everyone would be forced to play it.

With map offerings? You could literally reduce their prevalence within Bloodwebs, and with enough game cancellations after seeing the offerings, people will stop using them.

You watch. If the community doesn't want to play nice with each other, the community will make it harder for each other.

  • On the forums? Anyone who plays more Survivor than they do, so any time at all.

In reality? Someone who spends about 75% of their time (at least) playing on the Survivor side. At the moment, I would consider myself a survivor main, but one who understands killers.

I am taking a break from killer to focus on my archives and because with the matchmaking the way it is, I'm finding it really difficult to find a decent match.

  • It's more than just postponing the timer. A lot of the time, survivors do think that there is a possibility that the killer is camping a hooked survivor, and they need time to get them. Or perhaps they (and I am being serious here....) for some reason are running Blood Warden.

If you played Survivor for any amount of time, then maybe you'd actually understand their mentality. I did it, and I became a much better killer because of it.

  • Ran to corners, or other far off areas to hide and heal. Especially when I got Self Care on Claudette.

Didn't help in my first ever game, though, where I literally got face-camped out by a Legion. Second one wasn't much better, where I got slugged as one of two remaining survivors. No hatch, so I just crawled until I died. And I was playing Jake. I moved to Dwight pretty soon after that round.

    Red rank or opinion irrelevant.

Red Rank 4k without ruin= potatoes who for some reason aren't working on gens.

Lower ranks can have a voice too you elitist. All that red ranks really means is that you've devoted enough time, and done enough within your games to not get tunnelled, camped or mori'd out of pipping so you can rank up.

It's more about time and overall sweatiness than an actual measure of skill.

And you want an easy 4k in Red without Ruin? Insta-saw Billy with NoED. There. Done. Now just add PGTW, Thrilling Tremors and Corrupt Intervention. You have now got the ability to block all the generators and instantly down people constantly, so you don't have to worry about loops. All it'll cost you is all measures of respect, from both you AND everyone in the community! Small price to pay though, am I right?

  • I will admit to doing this, but it's been because I've been tunnelled into death hook, and I need the killer's ass off me for two seconds so I can breathe.

Bond is really useful to avoid danger, but if I was running something like a MoM build, then I'd be using it for that.

  • Dead Hard is simply the most usable exhaustion perk. Is isn't map reliant, unlike Balanced or Lithe and you have control over it, unlike Sprint Burst.

Ruin literally ruined games. Especially in lower ranks. It needed a change, but I think that this current itteration is the wrong one.

What he's saying is that on big maps if gen speeds were slower, killers like Billy, Nurse, Freddy, and Spirit who are able to apply pressure consistently and travel far distances much faster than others would likely be impossible to win against if the killer had any sort of skill.

I never said it had to be increased by a lot. Or would it be better if it was by killer type/individual killers?

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

How would abuse by consistent pressure killers be prevented?

Smaller maps would be quicker, and possibly quicker then they currently are to help deal with this problem.

In a way, and this is not a criticism of your point, but it's like saying "What's doing to be done about mobility killers on a map like Sanctum or Yamaoka Estate?" It's just a part of the game that survivors have to deal with. They have no control over what killer/perks/add-ons they face and accept that every time they enter a match.

    Careful.

Someone will come in and tell you to "Recognize the double standard"

Anyways, I feel like this is a fair change, 110 m/s killers that aren't Spirit struggle so much on maps like Ormond and Mother's Dwelling. A change like this will definitely take a bit of the pressure off of them.

As a stealth player, I personally feel that the larger maps are just WAY too easy on the survivor's side. I can't be accused of "double standard", because I literally consider both sides, because I play both.

Stealth. Juking, etc. I've gotten iridescent evader by not getting in a single chase multiple times. I prefer stealth compared to being in a chase, so I know it's definitely not the only option survivors have.

Again, it's like saying survivors should be punished for using their kits to keep them alive. The entire point of the chaser emblem is to end chases as to catch and down the survivor as fast as possible. The entire point of the evader emblem is to not be caught and to escape from the killer for as long as possible.

Survivors are rewarded more for using their tools.

Killers are punished more for using their tools.

    That's incredibly stupid and imbalanced.

I don't see why there should be any difference. It's not like the chainsaws don't have counters to them. Especially Bubba's. And it's not like most insta downs, especially perks, don't have a conditional requirements for them to activate in the first place which again, can be avoided entirely or countered. The only couple exceptions are Clown's pinky finger and Huntress' iri heads which are slated to being changed anyway.

Chainsaws are the NoED of instant down powers. No buildup or conditions to be met. You just go with an easy to use instant-down.

I acknowledge that there are counters, but not really when you're outside of a jungle gym, with a killer who insists on only using their chainsaw when they're body-blocking you. Or running insta-saw.

And I also accept that Redhead's Pinky Finger and Glass Heads are their own problem, but they are also hard to aim ranged items, and that like the saws, are also susceptible to the body-blocking issues. I will criticise of both.

All I am saying is that if you want to rely on something like a chainsaw, then you should deal with the consequences on relying on such a tool. If I wanted to play the game with one health state, I'd use No Mither.

Why when anybody suggests buffing pig people always assume that they mean make the bear traps kill.

I'm not even giving my opinion on whether she needs a buff or does it need one it's just really weird how no one can even say improve her without people constantly jumping to the strawman that they only want her traps to kill

Funny thing is that I'm fine with where the RBT's are. It's just other parts of her kit that need some love at the moment.

I'm never playing against a pig again, so I'll never have to worry lol.

Unless you're on Xbox, you'll be fine. I also save them for particular nuicances.
