As stated in a previous post DCing is not intended and is meant to be for emergencies/game crashes and the like, but the balance is that the survivors and killer get a minor bump in BP and a little bit towards pipping.

HOWEVER!! A suicide on hook does not provide anything it gives the killer a bit more bp but not as much as an additional hook meanwhile survivors get nothing but a loss of a teammate and a more difficult match

    downsides to the suicide: ?????

no penalty? you keep the BP you earned so far. and its supposedly not reportable?(if it is reportable let me know)

it seems a bit unfair and it imposes basically the same downsides and ruins the game same as DCing but with no draw back

    @TAG said:

I am of the belief that something should be done about hook suicides. I disagree with the idea that some people put forth that "you can't force someone to play" because the entire idea of punishing DCs is straight-up to keep people from leaving the game prematurely.

    ....

    1) You cannot implement any penalty system for a Survivor attempting to escape from a hook in order to eliminate themselves from the match or a Survivor purposely letting go of the struggle.

No system you can design will be able to tell if a Survivor died prematurely on hook as a result of doing it purpose or having their finger slip or misclick the struggle button or if the struggle button got stuck for some reason or their keyboard/controller lost power or literally any of a hundred other reasons someone might mess up the struggle early.

Your system will not be able to tell when a bug or glitch causes a premature struggle death, either.

New players notoriously die on their first hook because they have no idea what they're supposed to do and how the struggle works. They see the prompt, they click the key or hold it down and so they die. Should they be punished, by the way? How will your system tell that they just "don't get it"?

    2) Your attitude is wrong and needs to be adjusted. I don't usually flat out tell someone they're actually WRONG about a video game, but in your case - you're WRONG.

You CANNOT force people to play when they don't want to play. I don't have to be "pro-DC" in order to say it, either. I don't like DCs, I rarely DC myself, even in the worst matches - but people can DC if they want to.

You're not their kindergarten teacher, you're not their educator, you're not their daddy or their mommy - they can leave a game they don't want to play if that's what they want to do and there's nothing you can nor should be able to do to stop them.

As for why you should let go on hook or DC?

This game has a lot of problems and if I get hooked after a minute plus of looping (during which not a single gen has been done) and all I see is three noobs crouching in corners on opposite sides of the map and one noob making friends with a bush two meters from me until I hit struggle phase while the Killer is nowhere near us - YEAH, I'M GONNA WALK AWAY FROM THE KEYBOARD.

  • I really should stop writing sarcastic jokes in long form - people just don't read the whole thing, get the steam rising to their heads and get... like this.

Yes, I'm not happy about the Billy nerf but if you maybe read the whole post you-- oh ######### it, I just did it again. More than one sentence = forget about anyone ever reading this far, I guess. xD

before hating on my suggestion, I want to say that I feel that the difficulty of playing killer is lower that playing survivors,i personally can make good low ranked games with killers without perks and still win, survivors in other hand have a steep learning curve and sometimes I feel that is over the top unbalanced for them, we need to learn extra things that I feel is not part of the game like 360s and pallet looping to survive because killers can catch survivors easy without sweating too much, now I only see love given to killers but nothing to survivors, 2 killers revamps and not even some survivor perks revamp , you really like to make survivor mains suffer, I love hate this game, its unfair when I jump a window and im already a mile from it and I get the hit, this game is constructed for killers to have all the fun. I want to see some changes regarding this plz

    thank you kindly

    Oh yeah?

How about you put your money where your mouth is?

    1. Record your gameplay.
    2. Yes, YOUR gameplay. Don't come back at me with "just watch Streamer X, they 4k at Rank -1000 with nothing but a mop and no eyes". YOUR. Gameplay.
    3. Play Killer (any Killer) without any Perks or Addons.
    4. You MUST 4k every match for a total of at least 10 matches in a row.
    5. Matches at Ranks 15-20 do not count. Matches against Survivors at ranks 15-20 do not count.
    6. Match recording must include the entire match, no editing bits out - and must include the end-game screen showing the ranks.
    7. Upload the recordings to YouTube and post the links here.

Looking forward to never hearing from you again!

    • Noobs can counter easier than ever the most pro survs at looping, since the special attack trespasses objects
    • Camping is encouraged, since the cage may kill survs faster with an increasingly hard skill checks at 2nd stage
    • Minimori without the need of perks or addons... ez ez (none of the other killers have this)
    • Average good characteristics: speed/height like trapper etc
    • It is tremendously easy to play with the skill to engulf survs, just running on circles around survs
    • The teleport of a dying surv to the cage avoids flashlight blinds, bodyblocking, sabotage hooks, etc...

Summarizing: this was designed as the easiest killer to increase sales, so all the noobs will luv it and vets annoyed

Please play Pyramid Head and record your gameplay, upload the videos to YouTube.

    Conditions:

You MUST use the Killer's Power to down Survivors. (Remember: you said THE POWER is OP and makes every chase easy, so you should be able to consistently down Survivors with it)

You cannot use Devour Hope, NOED, Ebony Mori (or Mori in general).

You must win every match (4k - but if the last Survivor escapes through hatch, it still counts as a win).

I would like to see several such videos, for "science"...

  • A full SWF on comms on dedicated servers is the true killer of this game...

  • @Deadman316 said:

I just don't understand why they do this? Are they frustrated with their lives so they come on the game because they have control over it? Or they're on a losing streak? Or got owned in SWF? All 3? Either way, there's no excuse for it. Hitting hooked survivors should result in a 2 minute cool down of swinging their weapon. Just hook the survivor and camp, or move on. No need for the abuse.

You're obviously new to Dead by Daylight, so first of all - welcome.

When a Killer is hitting a Survivor on the hook and there are three other Survivors running around in the match, the Killer is wasting their own time (and is therefore already punished by their own actions).

Furthermore, hitting a Survivor on the hook makes the Survivor scream, which lets the other Survivors know exactly what the Killer is doing. Survivors who aren't absolutely pepega will realize that the Killer is just sitting there, hitting the Survivor on the hook, and will just do gens.

A Killer who loses multiple gens to a single hook or even a single kill has lost the match.

I suggest you play some Killer, yourself, to gain a better understanding of what it's like and perhaps a clue as to why some newer Killers do this...

  • If you play Killer you'll be getting Survivor Rituals. The Daily logic seems to be to pop up Rituals for the opposite role to the one you play more.

  • I was thinking about this for a long time, and (being serious, not trying to mock Survivor Mains) the conclusion that I arrived at is that no Killer in the game is truly fair (and that's a good thing but nevermind about that right now).

So, in Dead by Daylight we're used to talking in absolutes ("this is Killer-Sided, this is Survivor-Sided, this Power is OP, this Perk is useless", etc) but if you play long enough and you think about those things long enough, you'll start to see that it's a little more intricate than one sweeping statement.

In my opinion, every Killer has something about them that can be frustrating to deal with as a Survivor.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that they all break the game in some sense.

If we make up a sort of list of "game rules" for Dead by Daylight, as if it was a boardgame, we might come up with the base rules for how Killers work like this:

    1)     The Killer moves at 4.6 m/s.

    2)     The Killer emits a red glow that marks their gaze.

    3)     Survivors receive an auditory warning when a Killer approaches their position. Killers have a Terror Radius of 32m, centered on themselves.

    4)     In order to catch Survivors, the Killer must Attack them, which reduces a Healthy Survivor to the Injured state and an Injured Survivor to the Dying state.

    5)     After the Killer makes a basic Attack, they have a short cooldown during which they also move slower, and a Survivor who is hit by an Attack and becomes Injured receives a temporary Speed Burst.

    6)     In order to eliminate Survivors from the game, a Killer must sacrifice them on hooks. Every Survivor can potentially be hooked three times and rescued twice before they are eliminated from the match.

    7)     Survivors can defend themselves using windows and pallets to put obstacles between themselves and the Killer.

    8)     Survivors can avoid the Killer by hiding.

    And so on.

Now, already you can think about how pretty much every Killer in the game breaks one, some or all of those rules.

Killers are supposed to hit you twice before you go down, but some of them have a Power that lets them down you with a single attack.

Killers are supposed to move at a certain speed, but some of them can move much faster than that and others can even teleport from one side of the map to the other.

Obstacles are supposed to protect you, but some of them can circumvent obstacles, ignore them or attack through them.

Tell me that none of you have ever played Survivor and gotten hit by a chainsaw and felt like you were robbed of half a chase that you would have gotten against a "normal Killer" - or that you've never been caught out of position by a stealthy Killer and thought "oh, this is bullshit!"

What, you've never ran a Trapper or a Hag around for a while only to get caught by turning a corner into a trap and felt cheated?

I remember at the time when I started playing, people were talking about how the Trapper is "too strong" (and this was after Nurse, Myers and Hag had come out).

And this is why there will always be Survivor Mains complaining about pretty much every single Killer being "OP". In a sense, they're not entirely wrong because every Killer has the ability to circumvent, bend or break one or more of the "core rules" of Dead by Daylight.

The thing is, the only way to "fix" that (in their minds) would be to reduce The Killer to the bare basic "rules" that I listed above – basically, to make a purely "M1 Killer".

But just imagine if the devs did that. Imagine if Killers were completely reduced to this sort of stock standard M1 Killer type and maybe some of the things that we have as basekit for every Killer would be the new special Powers.

I say that in such a world, you'd still be seeing Survivor players complaining.

You would be seeing threads about how Gen Kicker is OP because "regression is broken", you'd see people having discussions titled "is Locker Searcher fair on Inner Strength players?" and there would be angry threads about how "Pallet Breaker BREAKS Dead by Daylight!"

  • The Murphy's Law of Dead Harding is that when I'm the Killer, Survivors will be magically blessed by Dead Hard nullifying hits and landing perfectly.

When I play Survivor and try to Dead Hard I will press the button just in time, see my character almost start the Dead Hard animation, see it interrupted by me getting hit anyway and be Exhausted on the ground.

  • Oh, and PS - Yes, I really hope OTZDARVA will post videos about why him camping and not playing fair made the game easy for him.

That's so fair to all Killers!

A veteran popular streamer is totally the point of measurement for all players - after all, he has an average amount of hours in the game (over 8,000 hours in the game, just like everybody else here and the majority of the playerbase), he's totally a point of comparison for the Ghostface Main who plays the game for like 3 hours at most on weekends only. Otzdarva camping someone would be the exact same thing.

And it's totally a choice that Killers make, it's not that most Killers will lose 2-4 gens now before they get a single hook and have no choice (they should just play better by existing in multiple different places at once). No, no, no, you're right - Killers are all playing at the level of someone who literally plays the game 10 hours a day every day for a living.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the "experiment" and its empirical results and I absolutely hope that devs will watch it and say to themselves "this is absolutely indicative of all Killer players in the game, we should design the game around this streamer's skill level". Yes, that'll be great. Just make sure that in order to play Killer at all you have to literally move into the game and play it like it's the Olympics or play like you're a bodybuilder and DBD is your gym.

    Yes. Amazing. Yes.

    The situation

2 gens completed, killer get his 1st hook and decides to facecamp because whatever, he has noed...

1 survivor being facecamped and not hook suiciding takes 60 + 60 = 120 seconds to die

    in a perfect world

the victim would be running kindred and the other 3 survivors would know the killer was facecamping, and they would not try to rescue the teammate, they would "just do the objectives" and the victim of facecamp would not hook suicide

let's imagine that when the killer got his 1 hook, all 3 other survivors were spread and they all were close to a gen that has a close totem in the line of sight, they don't have to look for neither of them.

during 120 seconds of facecamping each survivor would be able to repair 1 gen (80 s) and cleanse 1 totem (14 s), lasting 26 s only. this means that by the end of the first kill, the killer would have lost all gens and 3 totems.

the remaining 3 survivors have now a decison to make, they have 26 s for the first death

    • they can go open the gates (20 s) and just leave (cleansing the 3 totems were useless)
    • try a rescue mission with BT and maybe some bodyblocks (remember, they have NO idea if NOED is a thing), or
    • look for the other 2 totems (to discover if NOED is a thing) and then try the rescue. if the remaining totems are close and the survivors INSTANTLY find them, they will have 26 - 14 = 12 s to unhook the 1st guy.

in a perfect world 1 guy would 99 the gate, the other 2 would instantly find the totems, would cleanse the noed and than all 3 would orchestrate a master rescue mission, everybody would take their protection hits and everybody would escape.

    the cold hard reality

not all totems are in clear line of sight, at least one is kinda hidden, gens are far from each other, takes time to go from one to the next, 3-gening is a thing, most people don't run kindred, at least 1 survivor will go for the rescue, he will take a hit and will go selfcare in the corner of the map, the other 2 survivors will understand that the killer is chasing the other guy and both will rush for the rescue because the hooked guy is almost on 2nd stage. nobody is doing gens. when they arrive and see the facecamper, they will start trying a kamikaze play to save the poor guy on the hook. one of them will be slugged and the first one will hook suicide and try finding another match. nobody doing gens. the killer has his second hook. now the remaning survivors have 120 s to do 3 gens and cleanse 5 totems, the second hooked will get pissed off and will try to kobe, he will fail and die on 1st hook in less than 30s. The killer got his 3/4k because no objective will be done.

    conclusion

    • this is why NOED is so OP specially against solo queuers. we have absolutely no information most of the time
    • even against good swf NOED is kinda OP because most people don't like to just rush gens and leave a friend behind
    • this is why survivors should NOT cleanse totems. 1st scenario they've lost time cleansing, 2nd scenario they would die because cleansing 3 totems isn't enough, 3rd scenario is unlikely to work out even with a military sweaty 4 man swf.

    Useful (maybe not) information

    • I hope Otz post a video about his camping experiment soon
    • sorry for English mistakes, not my main language :3
    • sorry for the big wall of text, I'm kinda wordy sometimes (maybe always)

"This is why NOED is so OP against solo queue" - your entire example had nothing to do with NOED.

You're talking about facecamping. Under your entire example of "The Cold Hard Reality" (HAHAHAHA) the Killer may as well have had no Perks at all.

NOED can be countered just by Survivors cleansing dulls when they see them.

Further, in your example Survivors have already cleansed 3 totems. I've had NOED literally light up under my fingers as I was cleansing a dull right when the last gen was completed. They just need to find two totems and maps are an item in the game.

Poor, poor Survivor Mains! If only this Survival Horror game was just handed to you on a silver pla-- OH HI DECISIVE STRIKE! HEY THERE BORROWED TIME! WHAT'S UP, UNBREAKABLE!? HOW ARE YOU DOING, SKELETON KEY!? HEY THERE WINDOW ALIGNMENT! HI PALLETS! HI MORE PALLETS! HI HADDONFIELD! HEY THERE GRIM PANTRY! WHAT'S UP, THOMPSON'S HOUSE!?

No, you're right, man. NOED is what ruins this game..................................................................................... :|

yikes, people miss the point entirely

    *spoiler alert* Its a joke.

im making fun of the people who say that the game is overly survivor sided but i got a 4k against people using metaperks and im using distressing.

Your Rank, Devotion and character level reveal that you don't play a lot, and when you do you probably don't play Killer.

    Keep playing.

Play Killer for an entire week. Record your games - screenshots of endgame don't tell us anything - and upload them to YT.

I guarantee you that by Day Two you will have learned why people with quadruple your hours in Killer say that this game is Survivor Sided.

  • @ZarosNozara said:

Maybe something like, if the killer remains within terror radius of a survivor on hook for more than 5 seconds he loses 50% speed for x amount of time.

Before you say it's not fair, we all know camping is incredibly toxic, and survivors get birds fly over their heads if they camp too long. So why should survivors get penalized for camping, but not killers?

    Do gens.

    Killer penalized.

  • That sounds really boring to me, but whatever floats your boat I guess...

  • There's nothing about camping for the devs to "fix" – just like there's nothing about looping or evading for the devs to "fix".

There are obvious counters in place that every team is capable of using to punish a camping killer and secure a win.

    Some basic math for you:

    1.     When a Survivor is hooked, it takes 120 seconds for the hooked Survivor to die. These two minutes are divided into one minute for the "first stage", another minute for the struggle phase.

    2.     At base, with no form of enhancement, it takes a single Survivor 80 seconds to complete one generator from start to finish. This timer can be sped up by certain Perks such as Resilience and by toolboxes.

If you've been paying attention, this means that 3 Survivors can hammer out 3 gens when the hooked Survivor still has about 40 seconds left on the hook, if they all work on separate gens.

If, before going down and getting hooked in the first place, the hooked Survivor managed to run the Killer around for about a minute, this should have cost the Killer at least 1-3 gens already, meaning the Killer who chooses to facecamp at that point is handing marginally-competent Survivors an easy escape.

If the Killer insists on just sitting on the hook until the Survivor is dead – then by the time the Survivor is hooked and between that time and the time they actually die, the other 3 Survivors have enough time to complete all objectives and escape.

Survivors just need to watch out for NOED, which facecampers usually bring.

If you're part of an SWF, you just need to tell your teammates to stay on the gens and rush them.

They need to understand that they cannot make a save and cannot waste time doing anything other than just doing gens.

If you're in solo queue, you need either Kindred and/or hope your teammates have functioning brains (which, sadly, isn't true as often as we'd like) and will understand what needs to happen and won't, oh I don't know, just crouch-walk towards the hook and then spend the entire 2 minutes just crouching and hiding and inching around waiting for the Killer to leave (which is not going to happen) and thus dooming both their teammate and the entire team and rewarding the facecamper.

Here's a true story for you:

Once upon a time, I was in a match on Grim Pantry against a Leatherface. He was chasing Dwight. Eventually, Dwight went down. Dwight had Kindred. To no one's surprise, Leatherface was facecamping – which you could tell even without Kindred since you could hear him revving his saw across the entire map – and every Survivor in the team besides myself could see the Killer's aura hugging the hook and we all understood what's happening so we all jumped on 3 separate gens and popped all three before Dwight died.

Dwight died just as we got the exit gates open and I just ran out of the gate, sad that there's no way I'd pip from this match.

Killer: 1 kill and less than 6000 bloodpoints.

    Survivors: 3 escapes.

Feels bad for the Dwight, but I hope that Killer changed tactics afterwards. If nothing else, we gave him a reason to do so.

    Do the same.

  • WHAAAAT!? I CAN'T HEAR YOU BECAUSE OF THE CHASE MUSIC! DID YOU SAY SOMETHING?

"TOO PROUD"? I DON'T KNOW WHO'S PROUD BUT I'M HAPPY FOR THEM!

  • In 2016, you could have been one of the "Just break the pallet" people :)

  • Concept is interesting, I like his look (art department is the real gem of BHVR as usual) - won't buy the DLC or see myself going to playing (at least not to play Killer) in the near future.

A 4.4 m/s (110%) movement speed Killer with no map presence getting released in post-Ruin Nerf times is questionable.

A Killer whose entire Power relies on ranged accuracy on Dedicated Servers infamous for latency issues and buggy hits/misses is even more questionable.

It's also bundled together with an update that makes SWF-level Sabo plays braindead easy for Solos and breaks matchmaking (again) with a secret formula of determining skill level in a game where it's impossible to define skill level.

...No, I don't think I'm going to play Killer again any time soon.

    Sorry.

  • I found the game through a Free Weekend promotion on Steam just after the Hag was released, at the very end of 2016.

I tried it out during the Free Weekend but before it was even over I already bought the game.

  • I don't know what goes on in Switch, so I have no idea what's different there.

On PC, the best way to get as many Bloodpoints as possible is with the Wraith.

Just at his base kit with nothing else on, Wraith gets a crazy amount of points.

When a Wraith hits a Survivor in a short amount of time after Uncloaking, you get the following Score events:

    1. Stalker: varies I believe based on how long you've been looking at the Survivor before uncloaking.
    2. Surprise: 150 Deviousness points.
    3. Survivor Found: usually 400 Hunting points for the first Survivor you find and I believe 200 subsequently.
    4. Hit: 300 Brutality points.
    5. Surprise Attack: I believe it's 550 Deviousness.

Add to that whatever Chase score you'll get afterwards.

If you keep re-cloaking and uncloaking before getting a hit, you'll keep getting those score events.

Add any Bloodpoint offering (Deviousness especially - maxing Deviousness on Wraith is very consistent).

  • I don't remember anything in his bio that would suggest it one way or another.

It doesn't matter either way, though, unless you really want him to be?

By the way, once upon a time a large section of the community did a LOT of Nurse-and-Nea shipping but the Devs embraced the Nurse-and-Wraith thing instead.

  • @Yung_Slug said:

Shrouds are probably the most pointless offering in DBD. Survivors almost always spawn together by default anyway, and the killer offering actually hurts you because the killer generally wants survivors to all be in the same place, and the only use for it is to bait "Mori = DC" players into DCing at the loading screen without using an actual mori in case they stay.

Reagents and Oaks could be useful in some situations, but I cannot think of a situation where shrouds would have a significant benefit. I think they should be retired or at least removed from bloodwebs.

Shrouds are for the most part meme/noob things.

First of all, as you said, it makes no sense for Survivors to want to spawn together and for the Killer to want them to spawn apart.

This only made sense in the devs' heads back in development because before the game was released they believed it would be a "survival horror" game so they thought that Survivors will be scared and want to stay with their friends for safety and that the Killer will be like a movie slasher who wants to separate them and pick them off one by one.

Like you said, in reality it's the reverse - good Survivors prefer to spread out in order to pressure and contest multiple gens at once and any Killer's wet dream is to find all four Survivors huddled together at the start.

Obviously, the greatest advantage (among all the others) that Survivors have over Killer is that there's 4 of them and can be in multiple places at once while the Killer (yes, even a zero terror radius Nurse with 5 Blinks without cooldown and somehow a chainsaw on top of that) can only be in one place at a time.

Honestly let’s all come back to earth and take a second and realize how boring and weird the demogorgon is.

I’ve been playing with him and I just keep thinking how much he needs a rework just think about it. His dash is useless every half decent survivor can easily dodge that, there is an obstacle right next to you at any given moment just press A or D and boom your safe.

His portal ability like come on, I’m usually never standing on top of one when I need to be, and the time to travel just gets you in the general proximity of a survivor especially given the a heads up for survivors to gtfo.

I don’t consider myself a bad killer and usually please the entity even with the demogorgon, I just don’t enjoy him. He is a interdenominational adapt, primed, and prime hunter who can infect, rebirth, 4 legged sprint, and is a hive mined controlled beast.

I’m conclusion could there not be a re-work just making him fun to be played and contest against, He’s just missing something. Don't take this with a grain of salt :)

Just as a further remark, BHVR usually designs Killers with self-defeating features built into their own Power that essentially punish you for your using your character's Power.

As for Demogorgon, I'd say the worst thing that irks me about him is how you can't turn your camera after his Rend. Worst feeling in the world is giving Survivors easy escapes, free flashlight blinds and being unable to look aside to see what the explosion I just heard was about.

Even if they never buff him, please for the love of god let us ######### CONTROL OUR CAMERA like with every other Killer after every other attack. FFS.

  • @Coder said:

I wonder why the Devs added it in the first place, there must be a reason. Maybe so hillbilly doesn't abuse it, like going from side to side sniping people and automatically "kicking" gens.

It would make a strong killer even stronger.

It's very tiresome to see "Billy too strong" everywhere, very untrue - but regardless of Billy, Surge only activates on Basic Attacks (M1's).

Another thing to point out is that you can't stack regressions on the same gen - Surge won't activate on a gen that is already regressing.

There is literally no way to abuse this Perk even if it had zero cooldown and you were playing a Billy with Instasaw addons.

"Automatically kicking gens" isn't strong, it's just a Quality of Life Perk, honestly. Saves you having to slog all the way to a gen, waste your time giving it a kick and then resume actually playing the game.

Their no perk games had coms, Zubat never went against them, I pipped against them, and I don't think even Umbra played the game back then. What are you talking about

They had No Perks AND No Comm matches as well, including against streamers. I might have been wrong about Zubat - I remembered that they did. They 100% went up against Umbra, though, and not just once. I remember her talking to them afterwards.

    You pipped against them? Cool.

    But, again, it's you.

What chance do the rest of us mooks have against players like that?

How does that invalidate everything else I said?

    P.S.

    Scott, you meanie :,(

  • I played Nurse since very late 2016.

You can call me unskilled and lazy, but the Cooldown plus Dedicated Servers just made her unbearable to play as. I never liked the Fatigue but at least understood why it was "fair" for Survivors and accepted it as a necessity. I do not accept that a cooldown in addition is reasonable, it just makes it so that every 2-5 seconds someone stops you and says "to continue playing, wait X more seconds".

The feeling of self-stunning every time you use your Power (which you must do just to get around) is already not the biggest fun in the world, but adding an extra wait time and restraints is just so much more annoying.

It especially felt inconsiderate to me, since I was one of those Nurses who only rarely used Addons (and never Omega Blink). I used to pride myself on playing Nurse with no Addons.

I haven't seen one good reason in this thread why I need to keep doing that to myself when I can just play Freddy and have zero self-stuns and not have to drown in stress over the fact that I can't keep up with the gens and that if I miss a single Blink (or more commonly - get robbed by a bug or a hidden No-Blink-Zone) then I lose a chase completely.

Simply put, she's not fun and the Punishment vs Reward ratio was tilted too heavily towards Punishment (although that's kind of the Killer experience in general).

I came to an even more relevant conclusion lately: why should I keep subjecting myself to stress and humiliation by trying to pretend that playing Killer is anything more than becoming an interactive AI when I can just play Survivor and have the entire game based around my fun?

I don't need to worry about nerfs then, because Survivors can literally walk into a match with no Perks and win. I still remember with horror how the Depip Squad proved that when Marth and his group went into matches with no Perks and no comms and skillful Killers with fully-decked loadouts (including ZubatLEL, ScottJund and Umbra) were huffing and puffing to keep up with them and still lost.

Granted, there's been a few changes since then but playing Survivor is always so much more fun and relaxing. I don't even need to survive.

So, I'd very much like to go back to Nurse some day and play Killer again just in general, but right now it's just so punishing and frustrating. I'd much rather have fun. If that makes me "lazy", well... I'm here to have fun, this isn't a job to me. I don't owe anyone anything - the only one I owe anything to is myself and the only thing I owe is to have fun.

Nurse is just not fun anymore. Killer in general isn't, either.

And to all my fellow Killer Mains who suffer - just do what I did, switch over to Survivor. You'll thank me. It's so relaxing. You can literally just sit on a gen and have music playing in the background. You barely need to pay attention even during chases.

  • A lot of streamers (both Survivor Mains and Killer Mains) parrot anti-NOED opinions, which a lot of veteran players like myself used to share.

It's regarded as a "training wheels" Perk and a lot of people get mad when they get NOED hit at the end of a game - especially if they've been virtually uncatchable up to that point.

It needs to be said that NOED is a legitimate Perk in the game - just like Decisive Strike and Adrenaline are legitimate.

No one will ban you for using NOED. No one can report you for using NOED (it's not an offense to use a legitimate Perk in the game). No one with any sense will hold a grudge against you for using NOED.

Especially now with Ruin being effectively gone, the old stigma that some people (again, mostly streamers) used to have against NOED is going away - but even if it doesn't, you can still absolutely use whatever Perk you want on whatever character you want and no one can say a word to you about it (and if they do, feel free to ignore them).

Anyone who starts typing novels in the endgame chat about how you have no skill and only won because of NOED is just being a sore loser (sadly, there's a lot of sore losers out there in general).

There's many more things in this game that are unfair on Killers than there are things that are unfair on Survivors, so don't feel bad and do what you want.

  • For some Legion gameplay I'm not familiar with many streamers who play Legion a lot or are actual Legion Mains, but you might want to look at Otzdarva's videos (both his Twitch stream vods and his YouTube uploads to his secondary channel, "not Otzdarva").

While he's actually a Trapper Main, Otz plays Legion quite extensively and you can learn a lot by watching him. He often experiments with different builds and explains why he picks this or that Perk, etc, and his strategy.

I play Legion sometimes (Susie), but I think overall Legion could definitely do with some buffs or even a complete rework from the ground up - however, the Legion is definitely playable and unless you find yourself up against some depip squad wannabes, you're probably going to have a fun time.

I can do one of these for every killer, but 90% of them will be about the people who play them.

And FFS, I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH VIABLE KILLERS. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH LOW EFFORT KILLERS GETTING HIGH REWARDS.

I acknowledge that there are high-skill Billies, but that is the ceiling, not the floor.

You wouldn't mind recording some of your gameplay and uploading it to YouTube for us, would you?

I would like to see you play a few matches as Billy, if you'd indulge me.

  • No one sent me a single video so far.

What's going on? I thought Billy was OP and required no skill and insta-kills everyone as soon as the player spawns on the match, but not a single Survivor Main who complains about Billy being so has thus far sent me a single match recording of themselves playing Billy.

    Shocker.

  • And what happens after the exit gates are powered and the Killer has nowhere to go?

Try playing Killer yourself for a while, see how you feel about "camping" then.

I just believe that since he has the highest mobility and map pressure (because of his chainsaw dash), he shouldn't have a high speed. I think reducing his speed to match the Huntress would be fine.

Yes, I have played Billy, and I'm not a big fan of him.

I feel like the grind is to much , one match can get you 20k blood points and it takes 1 million to get to level 40, I wish that perk tiers were removed and bp could be purchased at a reasonable price like 100 auric cells for 500k bp or double bp would be on the weekends by default like cod double xp weekend

    I can't believe what I'm reading here.

You're basically asking to NOT play the game you bought, you want a way to play less of the game and be rewarded for it in-game.

    You're not a GAMER!

You want to skip playing the game. You want to skip playing the game. You want TO SKIP. PLAYING. THE GAME.

    WHAT.

    WHAT.

    WHAT.

    WHAT.

    WHAT.

    WHAT.

    WHAT.

    WHAT.

    Just don't play.

    Just don't.

EDIT: and you will literally pay people MORE MONEY to NOT play the game you bought.

....I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

  • @DetailedDetriment said:

Billy just needs a speed nerf. So I have no idea why people are complaining about him.

Why do you think he needs a speed nerf?

And have you ever played Billy?

  • Replaced all Killers with a mop.

The mop has 50% movement speed, its Base Attack is equivalent to about 20 Legion Frenzy hits... Oh, I'm sorry, I got it backwards - it takes the mop 20 hits to apply a single Legion Frenzy hit.

The mop is then fatigued and paralyzed for 320 seconds.

The mop has no further abilities.

Added 30 new mop skins, though. $5 each.

  • When I started playing it was late 2016 and we had exactly zero indicators.

You wouldn't know if the Killer had Devour Hope at 3 stacks or NOED or if Myers is still in Tier 3 (if you didn't pay attention to the sound cues).

You would get one-shotted and left to wonder what the hell just happened.

If someone else just went down to Devour or NOED, you wouldn't get any indication of it if you weren't paying attention to whether or not they were wounded.

There'd be no icon letting you know if the Devour Hex is still in effect or not.

If I remember right, you also wouldn't have known if you were Dying Light until you actually tried healing someone or went for an unhook...

I kind of miss it. I know they added all the status indicators so they wouldn't get flooded by newbies falsely accusing Killers of "hacking" because they have no idea what Perks are, but I honestly miss not being spoon-fed information.

  • @Splinterverse said:

My problem with billy is the combo of him with barbecue and chilli. As a survivor main who plays solo only, it feels like every match with billy is just down, bbq to next survivor, down, repeat. A lot of randoms don't counter bbq when EVERY killer runs it. If they don't tweak Billy's speed than maybe they can not allow the combo of billy and bbq.

Some low-skill players are not a good reason to nerf something that isn't broken.

Ever since BBQ was released, the devs have added more and more ways for Survivors to counter and nullify BBQ.

It feels like 9 out of 10 times when you hook someone and look around for BBQ auras, the entire team just stops existing.

It gets worse when you play against adept Survivors. Some of them don't even bother to hide from the BBQ, they don't care if you see them or not. Even if you zoom right at them as soon as you can, it's not like you're going to catch them - at least not easily, not fast.

That's because adept Survivors don't just crouch behind a rock in the middle of a dead zone when someone gets hooked. They don't hang around dead zones if they can help it, just in general.

You saw their aura? Great. As you chainsaw dash over to them you also see the three connected jungle gyms they're hanging out at. Have fun chasing on that setup. You're not chainsawing anything there.

Most complaints involve insta saw. Which is addon dependent.

I read a lot of complaints of people saying that Billy is broken at base, that the chainsaw is unfair, that he needs (more) cooldowns, etc.

I really just want them to feel what it's like to actually try to play Billy (and to try and chainsaw someone on Dedicated Servers for some bonus suffering).

  • @horsegod386 said:

Has anyone even seen a nurse since her nerf? I haven't seen one and I play survivor in purple ranks everyday for multiple hours and multiple matches.

Can any dev give me the pick rate for nurse post nerf because I am genuinely curious about this?

I stopped playing her after her nerf, sorry.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

So,since Billy will probably have his add-ons altered I had two great ideas in order to balance him. Please bear with me.

A nerf idea; put a cooldown on his chainsaw, pretty much like the nurse. In corn maps he can cross the entire map in a matter of seconds. So with the cooldown,he will use his chainsaw to get to a gen,and he will be forced to m1 if he misses the survivor. Not that big of a cooldown addition tho, like 5 seconds, maybe the longer you chainsaw Sprint, the more cooldown it has.

If you don't agree with the cooldown on his base kit,how about in a red add-on?

Hillbilly cannot be stunned by hitting in a wall while he chainsaws (like oni) but he has a cooldown each time he uses his chainsaw.

What do you think? Let me know down below.

    Keep the conversation civil tho

As a very civil response I'd just like to suggest you play some Billy matches, yourself.

You play as Billy. Try playing him a few matches in a row.

Let us know how you feel about nerfing him then :)

  • @RepliCant said:

    Challenge accepted

I'm about to hit a toke and I'll go on as Hillbilly and record my first match, no perks, offerings, add ons. I'll try to always go for chainsaws first too - and maybe I'll update this comment regardless of how it turns out.

BTW I do have hearing loss, so without perks, this will be exceptionally difficult.

    Awesome!

Sorry to hear about your hearing loss, though. I'll take it into consideration when I see the video.

For an experiment to be valid, he would need to be played how the majority play him, not in the box you’ve set up. I know you’re convinced you’re right so there’s no point arguing, but it’s a flawed experiment.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1011126#Comment_1011126

Who cares if you accept it? This entitled persona is the biggest issue with this community. You don’t have to agree, it doesn’t matter. I’ve seen billy over perform on every rank. No silly biased test will change that. Sorry not sorry.

    @NDwight88 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1010653#Comment_1010653

You know what? They invented this clever thing called google. You type in the search bar what you’d like to see, in this case it could be something like “ hillbilly dbd 4k” and then you get search results pertaining to what you’re looking for. It’s super fun and I think you’d find it enlightening. You could also search “ how to not be an entitled twat” and see what pops up. Happy searching. ;)

So first of all, the experiment is valid. As I've explained, the complaint is that Hillbilly is OP - and what makes him OP is his Power, rather than his stellar ability with M1s or how nice NOED looks in his loadout.

As I've said before, the purpose is to gauge the power level of the character's power.

If something is OP, then it doesn't need extra bonuses - it's OP by itself.

If the character's Power is OP then it's OP at its base. Any Killer can use Pop Goes the Weasel, Thrilling Tremors and NOED - you can load them up on an M1 Legion. The purpose is to discern is whether the Billy's base Power is OP, that's why Perks and Addons don't come into it. We don't need to see some clown slap on Devour Hope with an Ebony Mori going "see!? OP!".

It has nothing to do with playstyle. We need to see if the Killer's base kit enables the Killer player to consistently cut down chases by an abnormal amount of time and down multiple players in a way that a group of 4 players cannot compete with.

I'm frankly very surprised that people who assert that the character's Power is OP and spent an entire page of text saying how broken and unfair he is and how his Power has no counterplay, gives him absolute map control and ability to instadown Survivors "24/7" are the same people who then backpedal away from the challenge claiming that it's "unreasonable" and "impossible".

If something is OP, it's OP. You don't need Perks if you have something that is OP because if your Power is OP you can just win games just by using it.

An OP thing in a video game is something that one side can use that the other side has no counterplay to, something that can completely win them. It's something so strong that if even a novice player uses it, they can obliterate much better, more experienced players on the side that doesn't have it.

If you have something like that, Perks are not the factor. We're not here to gauge how effective NOED is. We're talking about the Billy's base Power.

As for your handwaving with the streamer thing as if those matches are evidence:

I've explained before the criteria I'm looking for, so if you think you can find 10 matches that the streamers you've mentioned played where they played no Perks, no Addons and prioritized chainsaw hits while attempting to get 4k's then you should feel free to link them.

You don't have to do the experiment if you don't want to - it's called not accepting the challenge. It seems pretty obvious that you're not up to the challenge so it's fine. No one ever said there's any penalty for not participating.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1011137#Comment_1011137

    Available =/= ONLY use that.

Billy has access to it at any time, other killers such as Myers, GF and Oni do not. LF has a more severe movement penalty and cooldown penalty if he misses so it's not comparable.

(Billy does have movement penalty and cooldowns but nevermind about that)

So what's the problem? From what you're saying, Billy's chainsaw is even more powerful than GF/Myers/LF's Power - then what's the problem with using it exclusively?

If anything, it should just end chases much sooner. You land one chainsaw hit and it's over, after all. And you're saying there's no punishment for missing it, so why not?

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1011116#Comment_1011116

I said I don't wanna hurt your ego, meaning to disrespect you.

Also,I strongly disagree the way you consider something balanced.

How about spirit. It isn't impossible to get 4k without perks and add-ons(from experience) but does that mean she is balanced?

On the other hand, bubba. If you play a perkless and addonless game, you will barely have 2 kills max. Does that mean he is balanced?

Conclusion, the way you see if something is balanced is false, that's why what you tasked us to do is impossible to fulfil. Imo,of course

How would you test it, then?

  • The Legion already exists.

    Kappa.

  • Rank is more of an indicator of how much time a player has to play DBD, rather than their skill level. More time doesn't necessarily result in more skill, although it does to an extent.

A Survivor, for example, can be an adept looper with extensive map knowledge who goes against Killers who commit to chasing them for about all match, and then they safety or even depip because they didn't satisfy the ranking system's requirements for ranking up and therefore remain at a lower Rank than they "belong".

  • @Endstille said:

You literally forgot to add, has to be red rank killer so not all matches go against complete potatoes and maybe there are some good survivors.

A better solution would be a larger sample size across all Ranks.

  • @konchok said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1011126#Comment_1011126

Even if I did show you "my matches". Would you actually take that as proof. Would you be like darn I was wrong. Billy does need to be fixed? You'll just move the goal posts, you'll say that I wasn't that good or that I was playing against weak survivors or that it only counts if they don't suicide on hook or whatever BS you feel like feeding me. I wouldn't waste my time trying to appease you and no one else should either. You're nothing more than a troll.

I do not engage in precognition, so none of the words you typed are of any interest to me.

Record and play 10 matches as Billy using the guidelines I wrote and upload them to YouTube.

If you believe that Billy's chainsaw is busted, it shouldn't be a problem for you.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

Once again the pressure seems to be put on survivors that they need to play perfect at all times and that's what keeps Hillbilly balanced.

As I said survivors should indeed be punished for their mistakes, but a killer with an instadown available 24/7 and the ability to cross the map in seconds is able to punish perhaps a little too well for mistakes.

No other killer can turn the game around in an instant as effectively and consistently as Hillbilly can.

You keep saying things like "he has an instadown available 24/7" and yet you thought my challenge to only use the instadown is "trolling"?

    Interesting.

These are the best killers going vs the best survivors and survivors lose 95 percent of the time. And that's with Killers going on and on about survivors being OP.

    Not accepted.

    Show me your matches.
