Yeah, Hillbilly, Freddy, and Nurse "like" it, but guess what? It doesn't regress THAT quickly, and going around applying pressure to gens is not being in a chase, so you're delaying doesn't really have a big impact. If anything it'll make survivors pound gens and forgo saving to do the gen they're on.Top all of this off that it is STILL a Hex and can still be destroyed. The maps are so massive that killers that do not have a power that lets them get around them fast enough won't have ANY impact or the ability to take advantage of it.

It also does not do what is needed and why Ruin was used, and that is to delay gens enough at the start for you to apply pressure and hopefully get a hook before Ruin was destroyed, the benefit of it lasting beyond that being a bonus.

So that is why everyone who ran Ruin will now run Corrupt, maybe Corrupt/Pop, all while the devs scratch their heads going "Weird. Why would 80% of killers go from running Ruin to running Corrupt/Pop, Ruin/Surv? Could...could the games core design be a problem? No... no"

Also, if you're a Billy main you should be aware that against good survivors or survivors who play safe, he turns into an M1 killer and he won't even be as good as you believe.

Before the rank reset I was a red rank killer (I deranked so I could learn to use Doctor and Spirit for the next rift) and I agree with you sometimes have you to use your M1 against good survivors. If I'm a decent map I don't have issues with chases as Hillbilly.

I have the mindset if I get destroyed by good survivors, then they deserved the escape and I'll move on to the next game.

EDIT: How often do you actually go against actual good red rank survivors?

This might just be for me, but it's rare for me to go against four good survivors.

Stop DCing every ######### time you get outplayed. You are not entitled to survive and teabag at the exit gate every game. You ruin the game for every else and the more it happens the faster dbd will die. Survivor que times are already too long so unless you want more players quitting the game. Stop being an entitled twat, get better at the game. If you loose, move on to the next match. That goes for killer players who do the same.

What's more alarming then the disconnects, is that high rank survivors are still using self care in 2020.

Like stop healing yourself and get on a generator

I’m really mainly killer, at least I have them all. I’ve been playing survivor more lately with the rift. But I like both sides. My discussion is really about Strategies/builds and even killers who slugging is more appropriate with.

Slugging is appropriate with most killers. What I do is if I down a survivor and I see another survivor nearby I'll leave the downed survivor and go after the other survivor.

I can only play HillBilly and Leatherface at red ranks, I use the same build on both of them. BBQ & Chilli, Whispers, Nurses, Infectious freight (I use pop or play with your food instead of infectious on Bubba).

I would like to open the discussion up if slugging is an acceptable strategy for killers to use, I just got Bubba the last killer I needed, I avoided getting him since he seems so challenging to consistently win with, also I get the feeling like Oni kind of that as a killer it seems more appropriate to slug baiting survivors out. It’s more to handle I think but I’d like killer opinions and strats

I say this as a survivor main you can do anything you like as the killer, your role is to try and kill the four survivors. It's not your responsibility to provide the survivors with a fun game, it's the survivors responsibility to provide themselves with a fun game. If you believe you need to provide a fun game for the survivors, ask yourself this do the survivors care about your enjoyment?

Don't be afraid to slug it's a very good strategy to provide pressure on the survivors. How I see it is if the survivors allow themselves to get slugged then it's due to the survivors incompetence

I deranked from Red to help my friend play when she started, though at rank 9 I don't see why I should be double piping when i'm directly ignoring objective's and core game play. I probably should of expected entitled players to find the smallest reason to ignore literal evidence infront of them (because you face red ranks in rank 9 all the way to red). Though I don't want to go back to red ranks, but I can do this exact same thing there too, and if you were ever in red ranks then you wouldn't even be questioning it. So I don't know why i'm explaining it to you.

The reason some people are dismissing your opinion due to your survivor rank is because pipping at green ranks is easy, even as killer it's easy to pip at green rank. I could play insidious bubba and still pip. Generally it's very easy to pip between rank 20 and 5, especially as survivor. It only becomes somewhat tricky to pip once you reach rank 4. Even harder to pip as killer as for some reason you have to score an emblem higher to pip, I don't know the reason for this.

I agree it's too easy to pip at low ranks, but on both sides. I have a friend who is still somewhat new to the game, and still doesn't really understand the game mechanics, and he was rank 11 before rank reset.

Personally I think the pipping ranking system as killer is flawed, I feel like if play well as killer and dominate the survivors I'll either only get ruthless killer or even brutal killer. But if I have a game where I struggled but somehow get a 4k, due to the game lasting longer I double pip.

Especially the chase emblem system, I get penalized for ending chases too quickly.

    – are the Devs proud of her?

Hello all of you people of the fog!

I am a member for quite some time on this forum and read some discussions now and then and I must say I am a huge fan of the community and enjoy a lot of your thoughts on everything that is happening around DbD! That quick shoutout at first.

I thought of opening a new thread around Kate Denson. I main her since I joined and I know a lot of you guys also do. Also I wanted to point out her potential. She is the free songbird with all the hope, this "Nightmare" will all work out somehow and Behaviour made a powerful and great job of integrating her spirit into the Game. But:

    RANT SECTION:

Everytime I see some promotion-stuff, Q&A's, Posters, whatever - I never see her. It is mostly around Claudette, Dwighty, Meg, Nea and the others. I get she is a character that you buy through the store but I think she is one of the most interesting ones. Why is she not used more in promotional artworks?

I just feel she deserves far more attention. And I have the feeling that her newest cosmetics don't quite capture her pure spirit that much. The new Biker Outfit is hella amazing. And I am happy she gets her Cowboy-Hat for the chapter. But what about more stuff involving her? I would love a cute summer dress that captures the purity and for everyone's sake PLEASE fix that little ponytail. ✌️

I know she is not as much played as Nea, Dwight, Feng and all the others maybe. But she deserves better. Really, I think she does. And Behaviour should be proud of all their survivors.

What do you guys think? Am I overreacting much? 😂

I consider Kate as one of my mains she's the next survivor I'm getting to P3, when I was getting my Jake to P3 she was the survivor I played as the most. Although I haven't played as her much recently as I started using bond and sprint burst, which my Kate doesn't have.

Swf was never intended to make it into the game- the idea was to be "blind" and have to rely on strangers to save you. But SWF saved the game, unfortunately... and Its a MASSIVE reason that survivors are so OP because a SWF can communicate your every move to one another, and you're right about the totem. One sees it and it's gone instantly.. swf needs a rework. It needs a rank limmit on who you can queue with, no more of this rank two 20s and two rank 1s in a group so they can bully and if we could take away mic we should- but we cant.

SWF can no longer manipulate matchmaking, as matchmaking bases it around the highest rank survivor in the group rather then the average. If a rank 1 survivor is bringing a rank 20 into the game, they are bringing that rank 20 into a red game. The rank 20 is more harmful to his own team then they are to the killer (unless the rank 20 is a smurf).

  • I personally like new ruin, as I'm someone that stopped using current ruin in their killer builds, and new ruin fits my playstyle better.

However, in my opinion killer is harder than survivor and it's the reason why there are more good survivors then they are of good killers in the player base.

EDIT: I am a survivor main.

With the upcoming change, that u wont be able to see ranks in the tally screen, devs effectively get rid of ranks.

With the new rank reset, there are noobs all over the place. It hurts to see red or purple rank survs, that have no idea which addons or perks the killer uses or how to counter certain killer powers. They have no idea about the map layout or how to use what is given to them.

As a solo survivor, this game is painful due to loads of boosted players.

The only reason for this is, that these devs arent able to get their matchmaking straight. In the end they decided to get rid of ranks, which will improve the queue times a lot but make the game experience a lot worse than it already is.

I thought the leaked update was incorrect and they weren't going to remove the ranks from the tally screen, as it's not in the PTB.

Quite hard for me to define a specific thing that annoys me, i find Survivor play to be very relaxing.

I guess cornering me or using hacks to mess with me would annoy me.

Killer main I assume, I always find whatever you main can be the most frustrating at times. I play at red ranks as both but I find survivor the most frustrating, as I care more about how I do in game. Compared to killer where I don't really care how I do, whether I get a 4k or all the survivors escaped it doesn't matter to me.

Anyway what I find most frustrating what randoms do:

    • Play too immersed (hiding at the edge of the map, urban evading around the map)
    • Not doing gens
    • Wasting pallets
    • Bad unhooking decisions
    • Using self care (A red rank survivor should not be using self care in 2020)
    • Using urban evasion
    • Gifting a bad killer free kills that they didn't deserve
    image.png

In the image above, have in mind whilst I was solo I was rank 1, so the randoms should be high ranks too. The Claudette and the Kate were red ranks, and the Jake was rank 10.

  • Personally if they removed the ranks would probably put the final nail in the coffin for my interest in the game. It would turn the game into another Friday the 13th.

I play at red rank 1 not for bragging rights, instead because I enjoy playing against good killers (players). Not every killer at red ranks is good at the game, but when you get a game against good killer it's a lot of fun.

For me I find playing against a bad killer incredibly boring (I don't understand why people derank). Staying at red ranks reduces my chances of going against a bad killer.

    ---

Before rank reset I was a red rank killer but playing against good survivors isn't as fun as going against good killers.

  • You know there is a counter to the current version of borrowed time.

It's called not camping the hook.

  • In my opinion the best maps in the game are the three originals, Macmillan (minus Shelter Woods), Coldwind Farm, and Azarovs. They are the maps I have the most fun as survivor and killer

  • When I play killer I main Hillbilly, I have a lot of fun playing as him as well as against him.

In my opinion Hillbilly is the most balanced killer in the game, I just pray that the devs don't give him the Nurse rework treatment.

  • I agree, I think there should be different ranks for each killer. I can only play Hillbilly and Leatherface (and Hag before the anti heal meta) at high ranks. I'm a competitive person and I don't like losing, so it puts me off trying to play other killers, because I know that I'll be bad with them.

DbD is designed so that the killer is basically supposed to act as the Dungeon Master. The way the emblem system rewards points/pips proves this. Killers are expected to provide fun, fair games for survivors. The problem is, killers have their own goal to sacrifice survivors, and playing in a "fair" way often works against their own interests. It's a video game, it's supposed to be fun for everyone. It's not a job that killers get paid to do. It's absolutely unreasonable all the crap the game puts on killers' shoulders. Survivors have an easy objective and they get to share the load, while the killer is all on their own trying to divide their attention between four survivors (with two health states who get three hooks each) and seven generators. But yeah, let's pick on the killer for daring to try to kill anyone.

I got a message from someone calling me a garbage tunneling killer... I got a 4k that match. No one died until all four survivors were on death hook, but that first survivor who died was all salty about it. I've never been able to figure out what their definition of tunneling was other than "you killed me, that's not fair." They couldn't accuse me of playing an OP killer, because I was Pig, and they couldn't accuse me of using OP perks because I was using a BP build with no add-ons, so they defaulted to the usual insults. I made the game more difficult for myself to try to provide a "fair" experience by juggling all four survivors, taking turns hooking each one, and not tunneling anyone with an RBT, and someone still complained.

I agree with what most you are saying, but I disagree that's killers are expected to provide fun for the survivors. I say this as a survivor main, the killer aim is to kill all four survivors, likewise the aim of the survivors is to escape (or pip).

With the argument whether the killer should provide a fun game for survivors, how I see it is that I do not care about the killer's enjoyment, so I don't expect the killer to care about mine.

I try and play fair as a killer, but playing against red rank survivors you can't really afford to go out your way to play nice. I try avoid tunneling and camping, but if the survivor I find first happened to be the survivor who was unhooked, I'm either putting them back on the hook or slugging them. If the survivors are rushing the hook, I won't leave the area.

When I play survivor I do not care what the killer does, if he wants to play basement Bubba with insidious they are free to do so. I personally get more annoyed with what the other survivors in the game for not playing optimally (I'm at rank 1, the randoms should be somewhat good, which is often not the case).

  • The most recent toxic messages I've received were from a group of 3 red rank SWF group. One of their friends and the solo survivor brought in keys. Obviously my goal was to sacrifice the two survivors with keys before the third gen could be popped. I try to play fair as killer but I can't afford to do that when there's two keys in the game.

The solo survivor was cool about understood why I tunneled them, but the other three were sending messages saying that I was toxic and I "failed to provide them with an enjoyable game" (some survivors generally believe it's the killers job to provide a fun game for a survivor). Yet they didn't care about my enjoyment when they brought keys into the game.

I say this as a main survivor main, that it's ridiculously that some players believe it's the killer's or the survivors' job to provide a fun game. Both the killer and the survivor side are trying to win the game.

  • @goat10em said:

I agree. But first ranks need fixed. 60 percent of rank 1s play like rank 20s

Yesterday I played a handful of games at rank 1, where the only generators that were being completed were by me, whilst the randoms were too busy looking for ruin. That doesn't make ruin an "OP" perk it just means the other survivors aren't very good with their time management and need to instead just ignore ruin.

To all of the people using their “stats,” of all killers being over 50% and therefore being okay let’s also remember those stats say indoor maps generally are the ones with highest kill rates.

So again, their stats that you so lovingly cling onto, say that they’re buffing a map for survivors.

To be honest when I play killer I rather play on Haddonfield then Lery's, the Game, or the Yamoaka maps. I don't like playing on Haddonfield, as against good survivors the map is just one massive god loop. I will try to play on Haddonfield as there is still a chance I could safety pip and get reasonable amount of points. On the three abominations I've mentioned above I'll either just go into the basement to be a chest defender or try and get the survivors to farm.

    Maybe it's because I'm a Hillbilly main.

    I'm on the PS4, I don't know.

EDIT: I replied because I'm curious too on how many hours I've played.

But I was watching an Otz video and he was devotion 9 at the time and he was saying he had around 3,500 hours played.

  • I started playing just as the devotion came in, I use to think to think that the devotion level was always in the game.

I'm Devotion 4 level 62. I went up a whole devotion, due to the rift challenges.

    I feel it is unfair for the Billy boy and the bubba to not have at least one pink add-on. I believe they too deserve some love. So my suggestions;

Hillbilly;while sprinting, injured survivors (or all survivors) auras are revealed to you.

Bubba; tremendously increase movement speed while you frenzy.

    Or

Bubba's frenzy cannot be stopped, even if he hits on a wall (with a few words, you can frenzy without worrying about walls)

    Or

Everytime someone is hooked, leave a clone that will have his chainsaw ready, and has equiped the perk insidious.

What do you think? Do the two chainsaw boiz need some love too? Let me know down below.

As someone that mains both Hillbilly and Leatherface (the only killers I can play at red ranks), I personally don't think they need any addon changes. The insta chainsaw and the curve addons are already pretty good.

In my opinion Hillbilly is the most balanced killer in the game, the most enjoyable to play as and against (when it's a good Hillbilly, not a m1lly). I really don't want Hillbilly to get the nurse treatment. As the Nurse got her basekit nerfed (which wasn't needed, and I'm a survivor main) when she was only going to get an addon change.

  • Jungle gyms takes skill to be able to loop properly, not every survivor knows how to loop a jungle gym properly (even at high ranks).

The single pallet wall structure is really risky for the survivor as it's really easy for the killer to mindgame.

L and T walls are balanced as experienced killers should know not to go clockwise. Yet I still see a lot of red ranks killer still don't know how to counter L and T walls.

I know most survivor perks tend to be meta, but what is one build you just detest seeing on survivors as killer?

I just played a match where everyone escaped and when I went to look at their perks after game, they all had similar toxic builds.

No mither, slippery meat, Streetwize, and of course hope because every survivor uses hope now. (Op) Plus one extra try hard Dwight had a brown med kit

How the hell am I meant to win or be able to even compete against a swf using this dirty perk build? When will devs do something about this?

What are some perks you think make survivors extra toxic?

I'm trying out this OP build now, to make it even more OP I've bringing the most survivor sided map, a Hawkins offering.

Thinking of swapping self care for streetwise, as self care and no mither is an OP combo.

I've been seeing it a lot since starting the game. Either a killer will kill me and then call me crap for not looping well enough, or a survivor will escape and just tell me I suck. Like...what's the point? I'm just here to play a game. Why be toxic if you outplayed me and won?

Could it have been friendly advice or was it just them insulting you. As if I see a survivor waste pallets or struggled with looping. I'll give them some friendly advice on how to improve, refer them to Ohtofu's and Ussylis's tutorial videos.

Same if I see a killer struggle I'll give them advice, if I was able to notice their flaws.

  • @TooKoolFoU said:

I also refuse to use them and moris unless its for a specific challenge. Which sucks to have to use them for those reason. Lol I didnt even use instant heals for years cause they just.. They were too strong to have fun with. I agree with your balance ideas for the keys.

I used broken keys with a survivor aura addon for the rift challenge. I don't like using Mori's and keys, as I like to win through skill rather than due to an overpowered item or offering.

Same when I play on Haddonfield as survivor, anyone can loop a killer on Haddonfield as that map is just one massive loop.

  • @underlord99 said:

Why do so many survivors DC over a hidden offering ?

Probably a key reason is that you don't get any penalties if you close DBD at the offering screen, you don't even Depip.

Hidden offerings from the killer normally means it's a mori, which can make a game incredibly unenjoyable. If a survivor is having a run of bad games and then they see a hidden offering, then they are more likely to close the game.

I personally refuse to use Mori's and keys. because I think both are currently broken in their current state, need to be reworked. Even for the rift challenge I only used broken keys. I only use a mori if it's for a daily or if I see a survivor with a key.

  • @VicThor said:

I’m having difficulties to understand that one day I play amazing, 3-4 kills for 5 games, then the other day I have 1 kill over 5 games... whether my skills deteriorated over a night, or I played against different survivors... DBD is super hectic from this perspective

Don't worry about it DBD is one of those games where you have your good days and your bad days. As a survivor I can have days where I'm able to loop good killers, other days I can't even loop a bad killer. As a killer one day I can get a 4k against four rank 2's with four gens left, other days I'll only be able to hook one survivor.

    ----

Due to being a solo survivor main what I find the most frustrating thing as killer is when I lose to bad survivors. As they pipped against me increases the chances that I'll get them as randoms when I play survivor.

Quite often survivors who are individually bad at the game can have good team work with the three other survivors.

  • I'm not really a Star Wars fan, but Darth Vader is a bad ass. I won't be able to take him seriously after I've seen him get pallet looped and 360'd.

The last time I was watching the originally Halloween movie, I was literally cheering "Go on Laurie do a 360, like you do in DBD!"

  • @Okapi said:

Solo survivors tend to hide a lot because they have no idea what's happening elsewhere or if the killer's close by. Unlike SWF they don't have voice chat which provides most aura perks for free. So they play ultra cautiously.

Just another reason why the SWF-solo gap ruins the game and why it needs to be closed.

Sounds more like a rank 20, a half decent survivor knows that if they are not being chased then they need to do a generator

No if you are playing swf and the killer is a sweat you may lose you'll rarely get destroyed in swf because it negates skill required. Solo takes actual skill, swf is the equivalent of handholding

Wait, you actually believe that SWF featuring four atrocious survivors will rarely lose to a good killer, are you for real?

You're somewhat right in the sense that a bad survivor can be carried by their team mates in SWF, if you want to improve as a survivor it's best to play solo. Just because you're playing against a SWF doesn't mean it's going to be a sweaty game. Some of my most easiest games as killer have been against SWF, and some of my hardest games has been against four solo survivors.

A good survivor doesn't need comms to play optimally. If you go against a group of four good survivors, I bet the end game result will remain the same whether they were on comms or not.

Yes, I'm a survivor main but I play both survivor and killer at high ranks.

I’ve seen messages here and there on the forum referring to people who run away from basement as toxic when they know the killers needs it for the trophy and I was messaged them same thing. I’ve never been one to body block, dcn, teabag, etc., but it seems there are always new ways for survivors to be called toxic. It’s such an ambiguous term. I was playing as Kate on Freddy map and I use Boil which I’ve been using long before the challenges. That school basement is a great place for the trapper to camp and get all his kills. He was hooking everyone in there and he had that place trapped like crazy and he was patrolling the halls like a nasty hall monitor. I tried to rescue people but either he or traps would impede my progress. He would always find me and I’d run away in the other direction. He caught me several times but could not get me to the basement. So I’m toxic now because I run the other way and won’t give him an easy basement hook/kill? I don’t expect anything handed to me by killers. If a killer messaged and asked me for help then yeah I’d prolly do it.

Just ignore them, to some killers a survivor who is just trying to play the game is toxic. Imagine, a survivor actually trying to survive, how dare they.

A survivor trying to avoid the basement is a good strategy, especially against the Trapper, Hag and Leatherface as once you're hooked in the basement it's hard to leave the basement.

  • Wasn't too recent but I made eight killers disconnect in one day at rank 1. One of those days where I was on fire.

Although the last time I played survivor (I've only played survivor three times this season, still got to rank 1 though), I made a trapper disconnect in the first minute of the game (again at rank 1).

  • Ghostface is the only killer I'll allow to Mori me. The rest I'll do my best to prevent the killer from being able to get a 4 mori game. I'll kill myself on my first hook, if I kobe I would disconnect (only reason I disconnect, along with when a survivor burns a Lery's or a Game map offering, that survivor deserves a 3v1 game).

Weird flex but okay. No one is talking about camping and tunneling to win here?

You said you can't play nice at red ranks, I wasn't flexing. Just trying to point that I'm atrociously bad killer but I can win games at red ranks whilst playing fair with a very weak killer, If I can do it anyone can.

So you never saw the so-called "fair matchmaking" cases where redranks played together with their lowranks against redrank killers? Do you think this is fair for those lowranks? I myself cannot play together with my friends cause of that matchmaking. Or what about those redrank killers gettin green rank survivors? Dont make it look like a one-sided thing, matchmaking isnt fair at all.

You can play with your low rank friends, you just have to look after them, discourage them from disconnecting. I have a lot of friends who aren't very good but I just try my best to guide them, to try and get the killer to focus on me. Personally I prefer going against a rank 2 killer, then going against a rank 15 killer (those games are so boring).

Before they removed the ability to see the randoms ranks, I use to take care of low ranked randoms due to their high ranked friend leaving them to it to their own devices. I had a game where a rank 2 David just let his two rank 15 Meg friends to just fend for themselves. I was the one that was hook saving them, trying to divert the killer away from them etc.

    Bunch of Moris.

Literally can't play nice for once in Red ranks without some survivor trying to be Ochido dood.

I can play fair as killer at red ranks, I'm by no means a good killer, atrocious compared to how I am as a survivor. I don't play fair for the survivors benefit, I do it because I find it more fun to play that way and winning that way is more rewarding than if I played scummy.

I'm a bad killer but I can get a 4k against a rank 1 SWF group, with the weakest killer in the game (Leatherface) without using Ruin, Noed, by camping or tunnelling. Every time I hear a killer main say "you have to camp and tunnel to win at red ranks" I just think that killer just isn't good enough to play at red ranks.

I don't see Otz, Monto, or Tru3 having to camp and tunnel to win games at rank 1.

At least you let them escape, mine they both just instantly killed us all.

Low ranks don't tend to have good sportsmanship, they just go for the kill regardless of the situation.

Purple and red ranks general would be more merciful in 3v2 and 3v1 games.

omg, as a solo survivor it's impossible to win a game with every match having Ruin on. This perk is absolute OP in the lower ranks. I'm in the ranks between 12-15 and every survivor struggles how to handle this perk + the survivors on this rank are too scared to look for the totem. for the killler this perk is = easy win in my ranks. pls delete this perk in the lower ranks or nerf it. it makes the game very unfun

Or if you don't want to deal with low ranks, could always rank up. Rank 5 and 6 are great ranks to be (unfortunately I'm always stuck at 1).

I didn’t say rank doesn’t matter, it doesn’t take much to reach 16 so it is doubtful that they had much more experience than the survivors. I fully comprehend your post but 16 and 19 aren’t a huge difference, same with 13 and 16.

Although could be that the killer deranked, I deranked as killer from red to yellow when the rift challenges were brought in, as I can only play a handful of killers at red ranks.

On the other side of is that the best survivor I've played with is now only rank 17, because she doesn't play much DBD anymore.

I agree though, a rank 19 playing against a rank 16 killer isn't much of an issue. What's is more of an issue is when people bring grey ranks into rank 1 games. Especially now they're removed the ability to see the randoms ranks, you can't prepare yourself to help an inexperienced survivor to survive against a rank 2 killer.

I love going against Nurses. Its fun to predict where they blink to and get around them.

I probably say I dislike Myers and Doctor the most. Most games I have against them end up just being "chase and never lose until tier III" It's boring and I can never consistently find ways to get away from them. I also suck at the game so...

Forgot about Nurse, she's one of my favourite killers to go against.
