That last one happened to me a couple days ago, ran the Hag around for a good 5 minutes while Kate hid behind a tree the entire time waiting for me to die for an easy hatch.
You better believed I walked to her location and set the Hag on her.
Had to be Kate camping the hatch (4:10):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTcddAJXoa4I had a similar experience, I record my game play and I timed it that I was being chased by the killer for twenty minutes. During the chase I was wondering why the last gen hasn't popped, I find out when I'm downed and on my first hook. One Claudette is crouching around bushes, whilst the other is searching the chest in the basement. "Nice to see the killers time I'm wasting is getting put to good use." Make matters worse those Claudette's were red ranks.

Haha this is a good thing actually. People tend to change their mindset depending on which killer they go against.
- Nurse = Give up, Disconnect.
- Wraith = Newbie killer, Lets goo!!
I feel like whenever I go against a leatherface I will get camped, and every unhook will be unsafe. But I also know for a fact how slow the leatherface is so I take the time to do some amazing loops.
Although I'm normally quite strong in the chase, the chase is the only thing I'm good at in the game. I'm not very stealthy and my objective influence could be better. It goes out of the window against Leatherface and the Clown (I have Coulrophobia).
Although with Wraiths and Trappers, in my experience if I see a Trapper or a Wraith at red ranks, they're normally good players.

I always talk about it but some people just ignore the problem because "the game is balanced around Pc". This makes no sense at all but whatever.
Killers dodge for a lot of reasons one of these being really short lobby times. Thry can afford to dodge 3 lobbies before a survivor find one to play in some cases.
Killers knows that and they want to use it as a "punishment" for playing SWF.
I always ask killers why they dodged and i found out that the biggest reasons are
-SWF. Well this one was pretty obvious. You want an advantage (or just to have fun with some friends)? Ok. More lobby time for you.
-3 or more items. This is weird. I understand that having to face 4 toolbox is bad, but even medkits and flashlights are a problem for some players. Survivors are not allowed to use their stuff, but don't you dare blame the killer for running red hatchets mori (actually don't. Is an in game item that can and will be used)
-"toxic" cosmetics and dbd related profile description. This one is really unexpected but pretty common.
I dont know if people just hat you for buying cosmetics but if you use something silly/super bright you are definetely toxic. Same if you have dbd related stuff in your profile.
Around rank reset I've had a killer admit to me that the reason they DC'd at the start of the game, was because they saw my PSN profile, and that they "didn't feel like facing a rank 1 survivor".
On the other side, I'll check the killer's profile before matches. If I have them as blocked, I'll dodge the lobby as I block killers who declare that I am now on their camp/mori list or they were just un-fun to play against (camper/tunneller).
-
Or you could just play solo Q, most randoms play like they're bots (even at red ranks).

That friend is a moron xD imagine playing prayer beads in kyf. I never thought this would happen lol
Meanwhile, in the same lobby I was playing as burger king Myers, and no blink nurse (with bamboozle, brutal strength, enduring, spirit fury).

I have a smurf aswell. I can deal with red ranks on both sides. I can dominate. But have no fun doing that. So I stay at purple ranks
Yeah me too, it's rare for me to be impressed with a killer (of "wow, he's good), I just keep getting the same players that put me on their mori/camp list for no reason. I was playing Kill your friends, and a mutual friend who is a killer main chose to be a spirit with beads. I just DC'd (I don't DC in public matches) as if I wanted to play against a spirit with beads, I'd play solo Q and earn blood points for it.
EDIT:

I play solo survivor and make it to red rank every season. I am currently rank 4 and the players in these ranks can be selfish, overly altruistic, SWF who only look for themselves, and the killers are usually the same ones. however, despite some of these negatives, playing at red ranks has made me a better survivor and I can manage to hold my own weight. I'll learn new things from the survivors who are paired with me along with some of the killer techniques.
I'll gladly play at these ranks than purple/green where everyone tends to urban evade and become allergic to gens because of ruin.
I don't know, maybe it's because I'm on console but I can barely can tell difference between the quality of randoms I get at red and purple ranks. Both seem to like to roam the map in the search of ruin, whilst my aim was to be the runner whilst everyone else did gens, I feel like I'm the only one working through ruin. Amount times I'm making jokes to myself about match making, and at the end of the game I find out my team mates were actually red ranks, it blows my mind.

I took a long time off the game. I haven’t dc’ed or suicided on hook, so I consistently stay at R1.
Idk. People are pretty damn sweaty at R1, but to be honest.. I think people are sweaty in general playing this game.
You find some really good players at R1.
Your friends may look down on you?? lol. A lot of my DBD friends have been playing since day 1. They make fun of me for being rank 1, but they know I’m not sweaty. It’s just a meme. Nobody that’s played this game long enough cared about rank.
I think it's because I'm considered one of the better players among my group of friends. I fear they'll one day realise that I'm just a washed up survivor who isn't as good as they use to be.
But I've been consistently playing at red ranks since September 2018 (minus my break from the game between December and March), I always say that I hate playing at red ranks. Yet despite this, since the new rank system I actually have to put some effort in pipping once I reach rank 4. So I was interested hear what are other people's reasons for constantly getting to rank 1 each season and staying there.
-
I got one, disconnecting after they got downed in the first five seconds.
-
As a survivor main, I personally don't mind ruin. The only thing that annoys me about ruin is when my team mates prefer to look for the totem rather than just working through it. I've played this game since July 2018 and played at red ranks since September 2018, and I've never thought nor had it crossed my mind that ruin needed a nerf.
-
@BenZ0 I've taught a few new players how to play the game. What I do I go into a 1v1 Kill your friends game, go through the concepts of the game. Such as looking behind them to see where the killer is, basics to looping, shack, and other game-play mechanics.
When they feel they have a basic understanding of the game, I'll duo with them whilst giving them advice and pointers throughout the game.

There's some subtle things that'll help you orient yourself in the new map, which helps you keep track of where the pallets and whatnot are. I've played on it a handful of times and I'm able to find my way around no problem already.
Wow, Peanits responded to my post. Thank you, I hope I won't have issues finding my way around the map too. Maybe, I'll see this map similar to Haddonfield or Springwood, my two favourite maps. The map itself looks pretty cool, just hoping it won't be another map where at the start of the game, I know it's going to be bad game for me.

New map is very asymmetrical and vertical, which I love. I can see myself getting lost in it a bunch and I love that. Plus, BHVR has teased that the map has Upside Down features to replace Entity effects. Ala, exit zones and EGC.
Getting lost is why I don't like Lery's, despite playing this game since July Last year I still get confused with the map, meaning I have issues planning my chase route. I feel with Lery's it's great if you're a stealthy survivor but not if you're the sort of survivor that looks to get chased by the killer it isn't the best map to be placed on.
I've even died to the entity because I couldn't find the exit gates on Lery's.
Also as a killer I main Hillbilly, no explanation needed.

It's not about pipping but about killing and surviving in that scenario. No one cares about pipping nowadays, but especially not those killers. Hell, they would be even more happy to depip for more ez games in low ranks.
I don't know I still like pipping, as I feel like it signals whether I won or not (as surviving or dying doesn't matter to me as long as I had a good game and had fun). But I'm in a mixed situation I hate getting to rank 1 every season, but I play to try and pip.
Me: Oh no, I'm already nearly at rank 1
Also Me: Yay, I pipped.
-
TBH I don't blame survivors who close the application when there's a mori, as playing against an Ebony Mori isn't fun. And playing against a spirit with beads or Huntress with insta hatchets isn't much fun either.
I personally don't do it so I don't know whether they lose pips if they close the application, but I assumed they would (on the PS4 anyway).

Yeah, I see what you mean... I've been playing since December and have only really started putting time into my killers.
Since December my survivors and killers are the following (long list!!):
Survivors:
Dwight: P3 50
Meg: 50
Claudette: 50
Jake: P2 50
Nea: 50
Ace: 50
Bill: P1 50 (currently working on him and plan on getting him p3 50 sometime soon)
Feng: 50
Laurie: 50
David: P1 50
Quentin: P3 50 (my main)
Tapp: P3 50
Kate: 50
Adam: P3 50
Jeff: P3 50
Jane: 50
Ash: P3 50
Steve: When released, I will work on him and get him to P3 50 (I'll main him and Quentin equally)
Nancy: When released I will work on her and get her to P3 50 (She'll be my first Female that I'll have prestiged and got to P3 50, won't be maining her though)
Killers:
Trapper: 1
Wraith: 1
Hillbilly: 50
Nurse: 1
Hag: 50
Doctor: 1
Myers: P1 1
Huntress: 1
Leatherface: P1 40 (currently being worked on)
Freddy: P1 1
Pig: 1
Clown: 50 (plan to get him to p3 50 sometime, he's who I main as killer)
Spirit: 1
Legion: 10 (for adept)
Plague: 1
Ghostface: 50 (about an hour ago by the time I've wrote this).
I main, Claudette, Nea, Jake (Plan to get him to P3 at some point), Kate, and Laurie as survivor and Hillbilly as killer (I was a Hag main one point, whilst I didn't like playing as Hag).
You got a lot of more characters who are prestiged than me, and I've been playing since early July 2018 (I took a long break in early December till late March). What's your devotion, as I only recently got devotion 3?

A fellow man of culture, I see.
I actually only bought the Freddy DLC like a month before he was reworked. I didn't like playing against Freddy, but then I played a Splinter offering and I had a lot of fun, despite him being weak. Got Meg and Bill to level 50, currently working on Ace.
Although most of my killers have been neglected, with most of my blood-points earned as killer going towards survivor.
And only starting levelling up some of my killers as before I use to play killer perkless, but once I got to reds I realised playing against red rank survivors without perks is tricky (I got nurses calling in the shrine).
EDIT: It always makes my killer main friends cringe when I show them my survivors, compared to what my killers.

What's your username on PS4 maybe we could team up sometime. Although, I hope you're not one of those red rank killers that have put me on their mori lists?
But is your opinion on P3 Laurie's?

That's true but like I said only when survivors go out their way to bully the killer is mostly when I see the most dcs from killers, but when a survivor dc's the game keeps going and even tho the developers stopped the 3 survivors lobby it's still a crutch to them for someone leaving early and I can't find justifiably morals to keep playing my best with them
I don't know, I don't think the "the survivors are bullying me" is an excuse to DC. I've had a lot killers DC on me, I even had a killer who DC'd on me and then post on this forum how I made him quit playing the game.
I wouldn't say I go into games to bully the killer, I go into games to survive. My strength as a survivor is in the chase, so I will try and get the killer to chase me as I'm confident that I'm probably the strongest in the chase and I will use less pallets whilst being chased compared to the other three survivors. It's really down to the killer to recognise that the survivor they are chasing is efficient and adept in the chase, and abandon the chase, go for a survivor that is weaker in the chase and will use up more pallets.
-
Killers that DC in my opinion are worst than survivors that DC, as the survivors often don't get any of the bloodpoints that they gained in the match due to the killer dcing.

I mean, I can still land lots of hits with her all the time, but I wouldn't mind survivors getting extra points for cleansing (200-400?) to incentivate the cleansing.
Still wouldn't be an incentive, as cleansing would be gift the game in the Plague's favour. I mean have something like Black Sense being the inbuilt kit, if you don't cleanse the plague knows your location.
EDIT: Or being infected inflicts a objective progression penalty.

Very helpful advice, and I will use it. However, this is stuff I mostly already know from facing red rank survivors as killer and will do my best to incorporate in my play style as survivor. I'm not berating you on it, quite the contrary, I look forward to adopting it and using your insight and words as a good reference, but you didn't provide me a preference for a survivor to start with when I main them in the next 1000 hours of play. Please give me your honest opinion and vote for one of them. I know its weird to be asking this of everyone, but if you had to choose a survivor to start with, knowing ahead of time what they all offer, which would you have chosen?
No worries, although I still see a lot of red rank survivors do stupid stuff.
I main a lot of survivors, Claudette, Nea, Jake, Kate, and Laurie.
But have you considered being different, have you considered being a Jeff main?
EDIT: Also it's better to play Solo Queue if you want to get better, as from personal experience I only got good when I started to playing Solo Queue rather than just SWF.
-
The best thing to do as a survivor is to play without fear, as the killer is just another player. Don't worry about dying, just focus on being productive, such as getting the objective, distracting the killer etc. Being productive, reduces the amount of time that the killer has to get a result from the game.
When it comes to running the killer, always plan what you plan to do next, I have a chase route in mind, such as "which pallet will I run to?" "where is the next jungle gym". Also during your chase you should be monitoring the killers behaviour, is the killer likely to try and mind game, do they swing through pallets or do they respect them, just access their movement to see if they are any good or not.
Also try and keep an eye on where the killer is when you're being chased, you don't have to always have the camera pointing at the the killer. But keeping an on the killer can improve pallet efficiency, and how long you can last during a chase.
Finally, try to work on pallet efficiency, camping pallets and just waiting for the killer to approach it is infuriating to see. It's the best way to waste pallets and cause a disadvantage for your team. Despite this I see a lot of survivors doing this even at rank 1, and people that have been playing for two years or more.

I don't mind rank reset. Honestly it doesn't take long to rank up again.
It takes me about four days to get back to rank 1, I got bored of playing at rank 1 after my first week of playing at rank 1 back in September 2018. I'm just facing the same players all the time.
-
At least killers get to keep their blood points when a survivor disconnects, if the killer DC's, the survivors won't get any points which they earned in the match. There's the genuine excitement that you made the killer disconnect, then you realise you won't get the points that you earned in that match.
-
So my friend gave me this link over Facebook saying that this was the killer that I made DC.
If this was you then I'll give you some advice. If you are chasing a good survivor and you're finding it challenging to down them, then the best thing to do is to abandon the chase and look for another survivor, there's nothing wrong with that. Chase a weaker survivor who will most likely waste a lot of pallets which will make it harder for the other survivors.
FYI, I don't BM. I don't tea bag, or spam my flash light. If not letting the killer down me is toxic, then I'm sorry for trying to survive.
EDIT: I also don't use Mettle of Man.

The use of Noed hasn't increased significantly, but cleansing dull totems now gives a decent amount of bp so it is worth it. There has been an increase in Noed usage at lower and intermediate ranks as we have gained a lot of new players, but that is more on the pc side than console.
I know about the buff of NOED, when I was playing at rank 1 last year it was very rare to run into someone using NOED. Now a lot of killers at the red ranks seem to be using NOED. Killers are in a better position than they were last year too.

Surely it can help to identify the Pallets when you are awake, so it has some sort of effect vs Freddy.

Faves: Lerys and Gideon Meat for a change of big outdoorsy maps, I like the close quarters indoor style. I enjoy Temple of Purgation, as it’s quite unique.
Least fave: Auto Haven Wreckers, simply because I seem to be on the map 80% of the time.... purely by chance too. Though I once had 3 Azarov’s keys in a single Bloodweb, which was salt in the wound.
As survivor?
In my opinion Lery's and the Game are the worst maps for survivor along with Shelter Wood, as Lery's and the Game are tricky to navigate during chases.
-
I have three core perks which I use for every build I use, which are:
Balanced Landing: By far one of my favourite perks, just gives me a lot of opportunities during chases.
Adrenaline: No explanation needed, probably the best survivor perk in the game.
Self Care: As I'm often solo, it saves me from having to rely on other survivors to heal me.
For my fourth perk I have a range of perks that I use, borrowed time, spine chill, windows of opportunity (I took a long break from DBD, still relearning where the pallets are), dead hard, pebble (for the memes), head on (for the memes), etc. I use to use DS before it was nerfed.

Usually happens when the wifi of the Killer gets weird and disconnects them, usually not on purpose.
It's happened to me, most recently the other night where I was playing as Myers, with one survivor dead, one survivor on the hook, and two survivors in my sights with tier 3 just being activated. Then my internet cut out.
However, what happens to me a lot when I play survivor is that I get a killer chasing me for the majority of the game, when the last gens pops the killer disconnects. Then in the next game I get the same killer, but this time he's playing Leatherface, and facecamps me the moment I'm downed (I'm a red rank survivor so I often go against the same players). I highly doubt in this scenario the killer dc'd due to internet connection.

-
I personally don't dc due to what killer it is, however Legion might be weaker, but games against him turns into mending simulator, which is boring and unfun to play against.
-
Legion and Freddy, as both are unfun to play against, DBD is suppose to be fun, but when you get a game against a Legion or a Freddy it becomes a chore (although Freddy is fun to play as).
I don't really like Clowns, due to me watching IT! (the original) as a kid. I'm normally quite composed during a chase, but Clown is the only killer that makes me panic, causing me to rush and make mistakes.
At the high ranks a lot of people who play as the Wraith seem to play really scummy, especially if party streamers have been played.
Leatherface, due to most players who play Leatherface camp.

I could see it now.

And believe it or not, I love the Game map both as survivor and killer.
I feel with Lery's it's good for stealthy survivors, but not really great for survivors who go for more a chase/loop/distract the killer play style.
I just find Lery's and the Game like a maze, I find it hard to plan a chase route. It's probably more on me, as I always go into negative mindset when I get both of those maps, and just focus on trying to get the most amount of bloodpoints as possible before I die. Instead of trying to learn the map.

Then sad but true , your not really playing killer in a good way. It's not the killers fault some over entitled survivor d/cs upon the first down.
You should'nt take it as your fault.
How I got good as killer was through playing normally up until all the survivors were hooked twice, then aim to just slug when the survivor was on death hook as a perkless killer. I as I was able to practice my ability to put map pressure and chase survivors with all four survivors still alive (Although I had to stop playing like that when I got to the red ranks). So I don't mind playing like that during 3 man games.
-
@George_Soros said:
Quite a few survivors DC-d when they realized I'm not going to farm. Silly kids. Even I DC-d once when at start all four spammed noise notifications, then started sticking to me, signaling they want to farm.
Blood Hunt or not, farming is horribly boring. I wish everyone just tried to play normally, even during double BP event. Farming matches can take much longer than normal games. I get the same, possibly more BP/minute if I just play normally, while, if farming it's just a tedious chore of hooking, instant rescue, offer myself for pallet stuns... it's just meh.
I personally don't farm as a killer as I find it boring too, but there were people who did farm as killer during events, but it's like they all vanished.
-
As a survivor main, I can understand the frustration of 3 man games, as any decent should be getting an easy 3k, even against good survivors. There is a difference between playing normally and playing scummy.
What I do usually when I get 3 man games as a killer, I play normally but with the aim to just hook everyone twice. Then aim to only slug when the survivor is on death hook. Although sometimes I'll try and end the game as quickly as possible to move onto the next game or I'll just DC if I see it's a 3 man.
-
As a PS4 player that solo queues as a survivor, I can confirm we don't have any friends.
-
Wait...
I was a rank 1 survivor from September 2018 till December 2018, when has playing at the red ranks ever been fun?
What's fun about long queue times, playing against the same killers (and the same players), op add ons such as Iridescent Head, with no reward for being at rank 1?
EDIT: Also with the five day thing, I work two jobs, I only started to playing this current season a few days ago. There probably other people like me in a similar situation.

This made me laugh. I once commented that I find SWF harder because my friends are bad and I got torn to shreads by some killer main because he was like "THERE IS NO WAY SWF IS HARDER".
When your mates are casual, too stealthy, cowards and boosted it is harder but more fun.
A lot of the time my friends aren't even talking about what's going on in the game too. I do find depending on who I'm playing with I do find myself getting sandbagged and farmed off the hook more than I do when I play solo.
Then I get messages from killers (I'm a PS4 player) asking me if we were a SWF, where I try to explain to them that it really was not a SWAT SWF team.
Although, while I play better in Solo games, I do get lonely after a while of not playing SWF.
-
I think they should go back to the first ranking system (pipping based on how many points you got), it was still hard but it didn't punish a survivors play-style. I enjoy seeking out the killer, and just getting chased for the majority of the game.
However, if I stick to my play-style, I'll just keep getting rank 10 killers which isn't fun nor challenging.
-
The other day I got notification on my mobile psn messenger app whilst I was kitting up for work, the message was "You're trash at dead by daylight". After looking at my recorded footage, it turns out he was a killer who I ran around for five generators a couple days before he sent the message. I found it funny that he was still thinking about messaging me two days after I played against him.
Back when I was a consistent rank 1 survivor I use to have three rank 1 killers who would always just focus on me, face camp me and smack me on hook until I'm dead.
Although I get salty when the killer only kills me and farms with the three other survivors.
-
With this pipping system, I never thought I would ever say "stop gen rushing" as a survivor.

Having to go back to tier 1 is not a good idea as Micheal can only stalk a survivor for a certain amount of time before stalking them won't fill their evil within.
Playing against Micheal you just need to be smart about trying to loop him, so that you don't feed his power. You can do this by staying out of his line of sight or putting him in a situation that he does stalk you he'll either lose valuable ground in the chase or he'll lose you entirely.
The only issue I have with Micheal is his perks, as they encourage a tunnelling style of play.
if you go through the comments you'll know i have already said that mike is fine and it was me being butt hurt. i'm actually fine with mikes.
I made the post without refreshing the thread. I'm on the PS4 too.
oh,ok have you noticed the amount of mike players now.
I'm in rank 1, so I often just get matches where the killer is either the Wraith, Hillybilly, Hag or Myers.
im still rank 14 after rank reset but i never made it below rank 12.my killer made it so rank 11 but i never got lower.im not bad but im not great.
Trust me you do not want to go to the red ranks, my best advice is to avoid it at all costs. The games are always nearly all the same, and the queue times are longer. On the console, you don't even get an achievement for reaching rank 1. I try my best to avoid getting to rank 1, but I always end up back at rank 1.
