  • The matches still aren't getting any better.

Well, there's a killer that I was main, it's The Twins. But I haven't played with this killer since May. I decided to play with them again this weekend, and the MMR is still at maximum, I played against three consecutive tournament teams.

I think it's reasonable if a killer isn't played for months, his MMR should decrease. Victor is a complex character and hit with his pounce is not easy, if you don't play with him for a long time, you don't play with the same efficiency as before. The same is true for other high-complexity killers.

So, can we see a change in SBMM that takes this into account?

I think it's reasonable if a killer isn't played for months, his MMR should decrease. Victor is a complex character and hit with his pounce is not easy, if you don't play with him a long

I know the feeling, I stopped playing DBD consistently last year but I play whenever the rift opens (even then it's sporadic). Last year I could comfortable compete against good survivors (I've played against quite a few known content creators) but now I'm yellow rank standard player, and I'm cool with it as I no longer care about being a good player or not.

But the killer games I've been having haven't been enjoyable.

Why ya gotta tear someone down to build up your guy... *sniffle*

I've been away from the game for a while, I haven't seen bearded Adam.

EDIT: I just don't see many people play as Adam.

I am sick and tired of Decisive Strike + Unbreakable Perk Combo always at Red ranks man. As a Killer main I always have to worry about this invulnerability phase all the time. Like bruh every trial I get, I always eat at least 2 decisive strike early out of the fear that they're just gonna use unbreakable or just 99% themselves so to save unbreakable. Even if a Survivor does not have this combo, I'm a red rank killer so my anxiety is always telling me that these good survivors always have a small pp. After eating those D. Strike, I just let get away so I can "Just Pressure Gens" so those Survivors just got a Get out of Jail card for FREE. Well please devs, make it so that in the upcoming balance changes take away these Invincibility Phase Survivor have after getting hooked. I know this game is balanced after casual players and I'm 100% SURE that casuals are not using the small pp combo as offensively as possible SO please nerf.

I agree that DS and unbreakable is just plain silly when paired together.

However, just because a player is at red ranks doesn't necessarily mean that they're good. Two of the survivors are using self care, so they can't be that efficient if they are wasting time self caring.

Also going by your player level, I highly doubt you have no more than 500 hours in the game. So you're still in the process where there are still areas in your game that you could improve.

Whilst the game is imbalanced, rather than blaming those imbalances when you lose instead look back at the game and reflect how you could have done better in that game. For example, you could ask yourself whether you spent too long in a chase, or you allowed an important generator to be completed early on in the match.

P.S: Sorry if there's any grammar issues, I'm writing this whilst loading into my matches.

First off, the terror radius bug was horrible. A Freddy pulled me off a gen and I didn't even know he was nearby. Secondly, if you get the hook bug, you just drop them and pick them back up again and then hook them. It's worked every time for me

Yes you can just drop the survivor at the hook, but at higher tier game play that could still cost you the game.

Like i say it's okay to work around these bugs against bad survivors, but not against good survivors. Carrying a survivor to a hook takes time, being forced to drop a survivor means they still have a hook state left, not to mention the time you spent downing them (even if it was a short chase).

Number 2 and 5 are Killer Bugs.

Also, may I introduce you to the 2 second Stun against some Killers? I mean, that Spirit I went against yesterday probably did not mind that she had only 0,3 seconds of distance gained by me to cover. Let alone the Hill Bug where Killers took a lot of advantage from.

And honestly, all the Bugs mentioned... Never experienced them in my game except for the sound Bug, but rarely. This is for my Killer games. For Survivor games, I noticed the "cannot Hook"-Bug exactly once. So they are kinda rare.

This does not mean that they should not be fixed ASAP, but it is not like Killer is unplayable.

You must be lucky as I experience being unable to hook survivors, kick pallets, vault windows, kick generators multiple of times in one game. There's been games where I've been unable to hook a single a survivor, I've been forced to just slug and force survivors to bleed out.

From my experience playing killer is unplayable against good survivors, because having a survivor being able wiggle free because of the hook bug can be the difference between winning the match and losing the match.

As I said in a previous post I do not play Huntress (because I'm bad with her), however, I know Huntress's hit box is like having a whale thrown at you. So from my POV the Huntress hit box fit was more beneficial for survivors, but if the hit box fix actually benefit Huntress players then I hold my hands up and admit I was wrong in that regard.

I haven't bough Blight, so I haven't experienced bugs with the perk "Dragon's Grip".

Also this was the listed bug fixes in my news feed when I opened the game (The last four patch fixes weren't mentioned in my news feed):

    image.png

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

The huntress bug affected killers over survivors because it prevented close-range hatchet throws and basically neutered the one-two combo lol.

Also the biggest survivor bug, the ds one, wasn't fixed.

Edit: aqa for your silent slugs, there's still a request for logs and details and anything from the devs because they can't recreate the issue in-studio.

Maybe, but I don't play as Huntress (I have terrible aim) so I'm unaware how her hit boxes affect her, nor do I use DS (I didn't even know there was a DS bug).

Still not being able to hook survivors, vault windows during chases, breaking pallets, kicking generators is pretty game breaking.

    EDIT:

    @BioX said:

I assume you play both sides like you should, as such, just play some more survivor if these bugs affect you so.

I was a survivor main for over a year and half, but currently killer is the side I enjoy the most. I would like these bugs fixed so I can go back to enjoying killer.

I'm actually a survivor main and have played killer a handful of times in the last few months, not including the PTB. I only noticed the hooking bug, on both sides. Every killer so far managed to break every pallet, vault every window, and damage every gen they wanted.

Oh really, when I saw your posts I assumed you were a killer main (maybe it's just the Nurse Avatar)?

It is possible to vault and break pallets, however it's quite common at the moment to not being able to break pallets, kick generators or vault windows. When playing killer at higher tier game-play a single mistake or a single DS stun can potentially cost you the game, when you're unable to do certain game actions due to bugs, it's incredibly frustrating.

Since the latest bugs, survivor game play is fine but killer game play is absolute mess. You can work around the bugs playing against potatoes, but against good survivors it's currently unplayable.

There aren't enough bugs to justify the lack of a DC penalty. The penalty itself is so small (the first few times) that it's hardly noticeable. The issue is indeed hackers or whatever increasing other players' penalties.

    "There isn't enough bugs"

It's like you don't even play killer (although I know you do, as I've seen your previous posts).

Not being able to hook survivors, not being able to vault windows, not being able to break pallets, or kick generators is kinda game breaking. I'd much rather they patch these bugs before bringing the DC penalty back.

Tomorrow but I agree it’s somewhat unplayable can’t hook/kick gens or Pallets correctly it wastes time and time in this game is everything for killer 5 seconds to actually hook means a gen could go same with a pallet or kicking a gen

When playing at higher tier game play when a single DS stun can cost you the game, imagine what not being able to hook a survivor or being able to perform other actions could do to impact the game.

  • @neeto said:

It's so dumb when people simply disconnect out of frustration from the match and leave the other survivors to struggle for the rest of the game.

I also play CS:GO, the first penalty for disconnecting from an official match is 30 minutes, the second one is 2 hours, the third one is 24 hours and the fourth one is 7 days.

I bet people would think twice before disconnecting from a match if they wouldn't be able to play again for the next 24 hours, or even 7 days.

5 minutes or no penalty at all isn't cutting it. If people get mad at the bans then the community wins, since we won't have to deal with those toxic players anymore.

DBD did have disconnect penalties but hackers were able to give certain streamers 72 hour bans.

Personally in the game's current state, with all the bugs I don't think the devs should bring back the disconnect penalty until they fixed the bugs. For example if I get stuck due to the rock glitch, then I'm not going to stay in that game.

Just stop using him knowing it is a exploit. Ask him if they knew that he is bugged to get the response of it like permanent iron will. Told him it is not intended and exploiting and he shrugged it off with the the line get a life. Did a report on Xbox just because of how brash he was knowing in game reports go nowhere. Hopefully it gets fix soon rather than later.

What you also have in mind that not everyone is aware that certain bugs exists. I've played this game for two years, have around 2k hours in the game and I wasn't even aware that Ash was bugged before I saw this post, and I'm a killer main (not many people play Ash).

    @FrootLoops said:

You would be better off putting a PSA on here about Ash being bugged so that the good sportsmen can be aware and steer clear of him than telling the community not to use him. I try to be unbiased but my knee jerk reaction was to point out the fact that killers took advantage of the hill bug (I never saw a single killer let someone wiggle off out of the hill or just pick up and drop), and all of the BS hits caused by latency (I've even see tru3 admit something shouldn't have hit but he still hooked them)

I dont plan to exploit any Ash bug, and will stop wiggling if I can tell the killer is suffering the action bug, but its tempting when someone comes on the forum and tries to dictate how I should play

    @xenofon13 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1620682#Comment_1620682

    1) There's any official statement from the devs not to play Ash?

    2) Hill bug. I died 2-3 times and gave hooks because of it. Killers showed no mercy about this bug.

    3) DS, 2 second stun on some killers. Easy tunnel.

    4) No heart beat bug

But Ohhh yeah, Ash has perma iron will and it's an exploit WHILE at the moment iron will is bugged and the survivors making noise while injured!

Okay bud, tell me not to play Ash again.

I allow survivors to wiggle off when I see them affected by the hill bug (it's still in the game), although if it's a high pressure game I'm only able to afford to drop them to a different location so that their team mates can pick them up (least they're no longer stuck).

Although I've had the same survivors who I've helped get unstuck, t bag me later in the game.

  • @StarLost said:

Genuine question, as I keep getting accused of this.

Is this following around one survivor unprovoked and chain killing them, or is this targeting anyone wounded in a group first, and taking opportunities as they arise?

Or is this just chasing someone incessantly?

Survivors will call a killer a "tunneler" when they aren't tunneling, when a survivor calls you a tunneler just ignore them.

Tunneling is when a killer has tunnel vision for one survivor. A tunneling killer will ignore the three other survivors to specifically target one survivor. For example:

    • When the killer chases a strong looper for the entire game, and not willing to abandon the chase even if it's the smart thing to do.
    • Killer hooks a survivor, when the survivor is unhooked immediately goes back to the hook with the intention of downing the unhooked survivor and rehooking that survivor. This is includes abandoning a chase just to go back to hook, to rehook the unhooked survivor.

Now examples of what is NOT tunneling:

    • When the killer doesn't hook the same survivor in a row.
    • The killer has chased multiple survivors between hooks.
    • The unhooked survivor runs into the killer, when unhooked.
    • The unhooked survivor immediately begins repairing a generator in the killer's face (what do you expect the killer to do, allow you to finish the generator).
    • The unhooked survivors tries to unhook another survivor.
    • The killer goes back to the hook with the intention of downing the rescuer but the rescuer has either stealth away or ran to a strong loop, leaving the unhooked survivor exposed. The killer has no choice but to down the unhooked survivor.

Personally when I play killer, I know when I have tunneled and when I haven't. If a survivor calls me a tunneler when I know haven't, I just see it as them being salty that they lost and I ignore them.

  • @Clocktower6 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1618873#Comment_1618873

Im a pretty decently good looper, and I'm at yellow ranks currently

There's a difference between looping at yellow ranks, and looping at red ranks.

There's your answer to why your being tunneled, you're playing at yellow ranks. At yellow ranks, the killers are still relatively new to the game, so they don't know any better. They barely know how to play the game, so will just chase the survivor they see without much thought process/reason behind it.

Yellow rank killers will always camp and tunnel, which is only natural for new players to do. I suggest ranking up as you'll get better quality matches against better/more experienced killers.

  • As long as the rock glitch remains in the game (it still is in the game, I've witnessed it in one of my games a couple of days ago), then the DC penalty should not come back.

I'm not going to stay in a game where I'm stuck and I cannot move.

Before I get absolutely roasted, let me explain. There are very few SWFs that I despise going against, and I’m talking about survivor depip squads(which are so far and few between that I almost never see them.) This is why I hate when killers say “bUt ThErE wAs nOtHiNg i CouLd dO” against a SWF, because 95% of the time that’s just wrong. Most SWFs in this game are people trying to have fun with their friends, because we ALL know how the solo queue experience is. I can confidently say that 9/10 of the SWFs I go against are people memeing with their friends and they bring stupid perks like no mither, sabo/breakout, pebbles, etc. They aren’t really trying to sweat, and if you go with it as the Killer, you’re going to have a lot more fun too. Also, I guarantee any person who complains about SWFs when they play Killer has at some point played Survivor with their friends. Stop being a hypocrite and stop getting upset at people for wanting to play a game that THEY bought with THEIR money with their friends. And, like I already said, this does not apply to 4 man survivor depip squads, but how many of us go against those players every day?

You might be a killer main.

However, what rank are you as killer? What is your player level? And how many hours do you have in the game?

Because playing killer at rank 15 is different to playing killer at rank 1, against survivors with thousands of hours in the game.

  • @Clocktower6 said:

Maybe its just my luck, but I've been playing against tunnelers all day, (and im not a toxic survivor btw) if there is anyway to avoid tunnelers i'd like to hear it. (I already run DS as well btw)

Just curious how good are you at looping?

Because if you're not strong at looping and you're at red ranks, that may be the reason why the killer is tunneling you. Especially if the other survivors in the game are strong survivors.

The best way to reduce the chances of you being tunneled in a match is to improve your looping ability, there are many good tutorials on Youtube to help you get better. A killer can't afford to chase a strong survivor at a good set up, otherwise risk losing the match. Most killers will give up the chase once they realize a survivor knows what they're doing, go for the weak links instead.

  • @Deadman316 said:

    Change my mind...

So when I play killer I try my best to play as fair as possible, but when I get a survivor trying to be "toxic" and I down them, I may hit them on hook and shake my camera as well as a way to tell them I'm not pleased with their behaviour.

A lot of people who play GTA like to cause mayhem, does that make them psychopaths? It's a bit far claiming people may suffer from mental illnesses due to their actions in a video game.

    @StarLost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/191277/killers-that-abuse-hooked-survivors-are-sociopaths

Sure. Let me tell you a quick story.

I'm extremely new to this game and yet it is throwing me up against coordinated teams of Red/Purple ranked players, game after game.

I've resorted to basically bagging one person and sitting on them once the gates are opened to try and secure a kill. They won't come close, so I'll beat their friend and hopefully that baits them.

Now the actual sociopaths are people who completely roll a brand new killer and then teabag/stall the game out to be jerks.

Although people who stall the game, could just be doing it so that they could earn more blood points or gain more emblems. As going against bad players really affects the emblem system, I personally don't care about rank but others do.

For example when I'm playing killer I get a group of survivors far below my skill level, I'm probably given an opportunity to end the game quite early on. Instead I'll just hook the downed survivor and allow the remaining survivor I saw in the open save the other survivor, so that I can get more blood points.

I really like selecting a challenge and composing an idea / build around it, it brings variety. E.g. the challenge for hooking the obsession made me discover the Nemesis+Furtive Chase+Make your choice combo, really nasty if you get it going (you gotta be fast with your first down, since you have no gen control perks). I like to play that on Freddy or Doc, since they have tools to end the chase of the exposed rescuer earlier.

For the hatch close challenge, it's pretty normal "slug for 4k" or atleast "slug for hatch", so that wouldn't be "playing around the challenge". Did you taunt them by letting them crawl to the hatch and close it in the last second, or just drop them near hatch to close it and then hook? Bc the first is rude and unnecessary (I only do this with toxic fellas), where the second is perfectly fine, imo.

I just dropped them at the hatch and closed it, and hooked them. Like I said I didn't like doing it, and I would always apologize and explain why I did it after the match.

EDIT: I'm actually a fair killer most of the time, unless you're playing as a Nea. I don't go out my way to play fair against Nea's.

  • @CaulDrohn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1604819#Comment_1604819

    Oh that flexing ;)

For the kill in EGC you could run an end game build, which gives you the potential to get more than one kill towards the challenge. For hatch close challenge, it's sure easier to kill them before end game, yeah.

Not really flexing, but I rather just play normally then playing and get the challenges as I go. Playing around the rift challenges like I have to do for survivor can get really frustrating

I rather be somewhat toxic to the last survivor and apologize afterwards, then put myself through unnecessary stress due to me trying play around the rift challenges.

  • @CaulDrohn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1604721#Comment_1604721

You do not need to close the hatch for EGC, you can also protect a hook when a gate is open. Also, the challenge does not required you to close the hatch in the survivors face, so it hardly "encourages" that. Slugging for hatch would be totally reasonable as well, and not showing BM. I did the challenges too, and I did not do this even once. All kills earned in "normal" play, if you consider slugging the third to find the hatch location so you can walk there while the third gets sacrificed as normal.

The exit gates rarely get powered when I play killer

  • @JordanMalicious said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1604553#Comment_1604553

I mean...it's a game...character doesn't matter too much regarding the different in game killers and survivors. The person controlling them is very much in control of what they're doing. There is no need to tbag at the exit gate, there is no need to bm a survivor who has already lost.

Actually, there are rift challenges that encourage pretending to give the survivor the hatch and then close it in their face, just so you can hook them afterwards.

These challenges are "Sacrifice x number of survivors during end game collaspe" and "Close the hatch x number of times".

I'm going to be honest when I had those challenges active, I carried a lot of survivors to the hatch just to close it in their face. Although, I would always apologize and explain my actions after the game.

at this point people believe that sounds are ######### up because devs want them to be like that, so that stealth is even more cancer than it already is

Tbh you don't need to play stealthy, in fact by being "immersed" you harm your team more than the killer could possibly do. If you're hiding, being immersed you're not doing gens, therefore giving the killer more time to sacrifice the survivors.

You really don't need to play stealthy as survivor in the game's current state. All you got to do to play optimally as survivor is spread out, work on a generator and have a chase route planned in case the killer tries to interrupt your gen progress

So off the top of my head I had a couple of those meme-linked stereotypes floating about that have come up with survivors over the years and wanted to help bring them together. If you guys have any to add please feel free to - though it being a known meme or something would be nice.

    ----------------------

Dwight Fairfield - Likes to Gen Jockey by design. Old Stereotype that they're bad at chases and hide in lockers often.

Meg Thomas - Likes to early drop Pallets and has coined the term "Meg-head" due to often vaulting into killers or making obviously bad decisions.

Claudette Morel - Blendettes like to hide in bushes and crouch in corners against brick walls. Stereotyped to watching her friends die on hook while massaging her thigh.

Nea Karlsson - Actually the Entity and hidden Killer mastermind in this game. Streotyped to sandbag teammates and creeps around the map in urban evasion.

David King - (Credits to pwncxkes for reminding me) Mr. Super Altruism. What my teammate is in trouble? He will run one thousand miles to get to them. What the killer is face camping? No problem - will rescue without borrowed time because he can totally Dead Hard immediately, right? Exhausted, miles from the nearest loop and still in the red stain of the killer... David will question his life decisions but regret nothing.

Laurie Strode - Buff girl on campus. She has a big stick and is stereotyped to chase the killer on occasion like an annoying Karen telling him to live better.

Ace Visconti - Quietiest Looping "Genius". Stereotyped to be allergic to Generators and would rather spam vaults or flashlight click to incite chases rather than be "bored" ever.

William "Bill" Overbeck - Was pretty cool in Left 4 Dead... now he's surrounded by even bigger pansys that he usually has to end up dying for.

Feng Min - "Gamer" girl - she wears bunny hoodies and takes the game extra seriously. Similar to Ace but a little less allergic to generators.

Jane Romero - Thicc girl who obscures the camera and somehow squeezes into lockers a lot. Unlike Dwight - she gets a pass because her booty doesn't quit.

Adam Francis - Male Blendette a male Blendette. He might be a cool guy once you got to know him but institutionalized to be a loner throwing rocks (*maybe I should go here...*)

Jeff Johansen - An out of shape Jesus-wannabe oaf gasping for air from the shortest of jogs. May be a smoker.

Quentin Smith - The red-headed stepchild that no one plays... (credits to Oxygen for the following) Someone on the spectrum of being an absolute Savant or a low functioning autistic man.

Steve Harrington - White Knighting Simp who cries in pain and fright at every little thing but will die in 1 for 1 trades as long as it's a female friend.

Kate Denson - (Credits to PigMainClaudette) Cosmetics prom queen and Belle, more worried about looking good rather than blending in or even surviving. Exceedingly average at everything else.

Detective David Tapp - (Credits to Toybasher) - Immersed in all black he'll hide and do generators but more importantly if you try to slug and leave him on the ground he will be crawling away at a tenacious mach 2 holding an unbreakable soul guard in wait. Pick up the cop and don't be the monologuing villain of the movie.

    Ash Williams

    Nancy Wheeler

    Yui Kimura

    Zarina Kassir

    Ceryl Mason

    ... Felix Richter

Have any more for you guys to add that aren't just "This one Yui that I saw was breaking totems so she just likes bones" etc etc. ?

    Errr..ummm... Where's Jake?

He's one of the OG survivors, you can't leave him out.

  • @Deadman316 said:

If they aren't helping the killers, they're sandbagging. Why?

I personally find Feng Min's cute, I normally give a Feng Min the hatch when they're the last survivor.

Also when a Feng Min tries to be toxic, I just laugh it off and go "whatever, Feng Min" and still probably give them the hatch at the end.

Nea's on the other hand, I don't even bother to play fair with Nea's.

EDIT: My perception of a "Toxic Feng MIn"

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1599223#Comment_1599223

Yeah but then the queue times become 20 minutes long on a good day and then nobody who reaches a high rank will want to play anymore.

Before the current rank reset, there were a lot of players at each rank. The new players were in the brown ranks, the newish players were at yellow ranks, the potatoes/casuals that had an idea how the game worked were at green ranks, the some what decent players were at purple ranks, the experienced players were at red ranks.

The reason why survivors sometimes have long queue times, is due to there being too many red rank survivors compared to the amount of the red rank killers. If they made it harder to get to red ranks, the amount of survivors at red ranks would be reduced. Meaning there would be a better proportion of survivors to killers, which could actually make queue times better.

Red ranks should be cut and dry if you die you don't pip , if you don't get at least a 3k you shouldn't pip at red ranks , something like that will keep people who just play alot out of red ranks and leave truly the best at the top

Escaping isn't really important as survivor, sometimes the best survivor on the survivor team could be the only one sacrificed as they're ones spending the majority of the game taking aggro from the killer, whilst the other three are just pumping generators.

Who is the better survivor, a survivor that spent the majority of the game being chased but got downed with NOED, or the three survivors that just held M1 all game and escaped? Plus your proposed system could encourage bad habits and unhealthy survivor game-play.

Your proposed killer pipping system is somewhat already in place, I don't think I've ever pipped as killer if two or more survivors escaped. Even if I get a 3k or a 4k, I'll sometimes black pip.

Its an issue that can't be fixed imo. You buff solo you inherently buff swf. You buff killers too much and you kill off solo play.

We do have to be careful to say the game shouldn't be balanced around the lower players though as the same argument is used by some killers here.

When anyone posts about a really good killer players win rate they always say you can't expect them to be as good as people who play the game for a living or have 5 or 7 k hours in the game. You have to be careful to not remove the challenge from the best players on both sides.

Imo the problem comes down primarily to thise who main one side as they don't see the issues of the other and of course seeing the game as being highly competitive.

Personally, I'd be all for if the developers make survivor harder. I've got to the point where I find playing survivor too easy and boring. It's why I switched from being a survivor main to a killer main.

In my opinion, four good solo's are still stronger than the killer in the games current state. If they buff killers whilst making it harder to rank up, then it would reduce the chances of potatoes finding themselves at high ranks. In an ideal world good players will play against other good players, and potatoes will play against other potatoes.

You’d think that tunneling would come about less and less as you increase in ranks due to people realising its a cheap and PoS way to play. But no, it actually increases with rank.

I did a little something something because I wanted to see how much people actually tunneled.

I first played 10 rounds as my red ranked surv, here are the findings:

    8 killers tunneled

    1 killers didn’t

    1 killer memed

I then went into my smurf account and played 10 games at a yellow rank, these are the results:

    3 killers tunneled

    5 killers didn’t

    2 killers memed

In conclusion higher ranked killers are a$$holes. Thank you.

    P.S

This whole post is a joke but also not a joke I was just curious as to when killers tend to start playing “toxic”.

    @Seanzu said:

I mean, I think tunneling is a problem in the sense that you'll probably never get better if you keep doing it, with that being said, if a killer wants to tunnel, they're going to tunnel and that's all there is to it.

Toxicity is thrown around far too often, tunneling is annoying but I wouldn't put it anywhere on a scale of toxicity.

They're might be a reason why a survivor is being "tunneled".

If a survivor finds themselves at red ranks, but don't even understand simple basics of looping then they're going to get focused by the killer. The survivor has only themselves to blame.

If you're a survivor main and you find yourself getting tunneled at high ranks, it might be a sign that you need to get better at looping. Because an experienced killer is going to bother chasing a strong survivor at a strong set up. The killer is going to focus on the survivor that plays like a baby Meg.

Also tunneling is often thrown around a lot even when the killer isn't tunneling.

    • If the killer has hooked different survivors in a row, the killer isn't tunneling
    • If the killer has chased different survivors, the killer isn't tunneling
    • If the unhooked survivor runs into the killer, gets downed due to their own stupidity that isn't tunneling
    • If the unhooked survivor immediately jumps on a generator in the killer's face, that isn't tunneling

When I play killer, I always try and go after the unhooker if the survivor is unhooked when i'm close by. However, often the unhooker will go stealthy or will run to incredibly strong set up, both leaving the unhooked survivor exposed and vulnerable. The killer in that situation has no choice but to down the unhooked survivor.

P.S Sorry if they're any grammar issues, I was writing this in between queuing for games.

No i didn't. You want more time. It's fair for me to bring in my own experiences because you did the exact same thing in your post. You brought up:

    • "Current issues" (whatever that means)
    • Crossplay
    • Matchmaking Queues

Those are all based on your own experiences and not "anyone elses" either. Because i sure as hell havn't had any problems with "Current issues", crossplay, or matchmaking. In fact, matchmaking has been pretty solid since crossplay, so i dunno man.

    You also brought up this:

There have been calculations that have been made in the past regarding just how much time/rift shards are needed to complete each Rift Pass/Tomes.

So i was pointing out the actual math which shows that, you need to complete 1 level per day. Based on how many shards you get from challenges and playing games, that means you are probably going to have to play about an hour a day. If you can't handle that, then don't buy the battle pass. Or, if you want the content, buy some extra levels.

Also way to completely ignore more other evidence i provided about how other games do it. Can you name even a single game that has a battle pass more fair than DBD? Go ahead, i'll wait.

    Fall Guys.

I have a full time job where i have to work from home. I also have a young child who is going to school from home. Between all of that i work, i take care of my kid and spend time with my family, have time after my kid goes to bed to watch netflix or play a game or something with my wife and i still have a couple of hours every night. On top of that, i play other games as well, generally i dedicate an hour or so on average a night playing DBD.

If you can't find 7 hours a week to play, the battle pass is not made for you. Or, you can buy levels to keep up. That is your choice to make. The point i am making is that 7 hours a week is pretty fair, especially when you compare it to other games that expect you to play their game as a full time job in order to finish a battlepass.

How long have you played DBD, and how many hours do you have in the game?

I've played this game for two years, have over two thousands hours in the game, I'm at the point where I only play the game sporadically. I'm pretty sure a lot of veterans are in the same boat.

Not everyone has a 9 to 5 job, a lot of people work in shifts. After doing a night shift you just want to go to bed, never mind playing a video game.

I main killer. Generally the only time I'm playing survivor is when either

    A. I need rift things to be done

    B. I'm getting my teeth kicked in and I need a break before I chuck my controller into my TV

Fair enough, you don't experience any FPS drops when you enter blood lust?

EDIT: I saw your Ash profile picture, and it screamed survivor main to me. I have Jake as my profile picture, because I'm a former survivor main.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

How do so many console players have all these issues? We're all running the same hardware (I assume at least...) and I've never had these huge frame drops that everyone always complains about on my Xbox...

I can count on one hand the amount of times the game pooped the bed on me and became virtually unplayable (so I guess I can't say I've NEVER had frame rate become an issue but that was clear from the very beginning of the match that something was wrong with the game).

I honestly don't know if I'm in the minority here and my Xbox is just a champ, if I'm the majority but we have nothing to complain about so you don't hear from us, or what...

    Do you play killer?

As the FPS console is barely noticeable when you play survivor, it's when you play killer is when you notice it.

From my experience, the console FPS is playable, however is it abysmal if you compare it to PC's FPS.

Whenever you get into a tier of blood-lust, you get a frame rate drop. I've lost count the amount of times I've missed a hit because blood lust activated at the worst time.

I have done all the challenges in 1, 2, and 3. I'm tier 52. You need to get roughly 18 tiers each tome level in order to stay on track. I've back of the napkin calculated that by doing all the challenges you get roughly 10ish tiers. You have to grind the other 80 shares or roughly 1 shard every two games so 160 games.

If you fail to get all challenges done you have to grind more. I would estimate it takes about 150-250 hours to reach tier 70. That's about 3 to 4 hours per day, everyday, in order to reach it.

TLDR: BHVR is saying without saying it, buy tiers or be prepared to play DbD a lot each rift.

    @Reinami said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/187480/increase-time-alotted-for-rift-completion

    Welcome to battle passes.

In reality though, of all the games i play DBD has the fairest battle pass i have ever seen. You have 70 days to complete it, it has 70 levels. That is 1 level per day. If you ignore challenges completely, it is going to take ~11-12 games to get a level. But challenges from the rift typically give you 3-5 shards. So, if you did 1 challenge a day, and played 5 games, you are probably going to get to level 70 before the end. Games typically last, 10 minutes tops so you are looking at around an hour a day of playtime.

On top of that, the rift costs $10 to buy the premium version. But here is the best part, if you get your rift to level 70 before it ends, they give you back that $10 so you can buy the next one.

Now take a look at other games with a battle pass.

DotA battle pass has an infinite amount of levels (although rewards repeat/stop at around 2k), and you can only get to about 150 before you run out of challenges and MUST spend money in order to level it up. I don't mean like, you CAN spend money to get faster, i mean it literally becomes impossible to level up for free without spending money. Now look at all the best rewards, they often show up in the 200-250 range with some more premium rewards being at 500+.

What about Valorant? Looks pretty fair for the most part, but its a bit sneaky. Each level takes a little bit longer to level up. Which means that you actually need to play more than it looks like. Until suddenly you are at the end of the battle pass and still have 20 levels to go but wonder why.

What about CoD? Generally suffers from the same thing that Valorant does. Every level takes more XP, so it is deceptive how long it actually takes to level it up. On top of that the challenges generally don't reward enough and you require more playtime to level them up.

Also, all 3 of those games don't reward you with the currency you used to buy the battlepass. So you can't effectively get your money back for playing well.

DBD is the ONLY battle pass i have ever seen that is balanced in such a way that i have the ability to finish it without paying money. On top of all of that, i only ever bought the 1st rift. The rest of them i have gotten for "free" from the cells i got from each previous battle pass.

What you're not taking into consideration is that not everyone can afford to play DBD every day.

I have been maining killer for about 2 years playing off and on, but just recently I decided to level to rank 1 survivor and I am enjoying it much more than killer. I can actually play more than 3 matches without feeling like I have to sweat, It is a lot more fun and enjoyable than dealing with what killers have to deal with.

    Ironically I'm the opposite.

For a year and a half I was mainly a survivor main (I still played killer). Gradually since Doctor's rework I slowly shifted to being a killer main.

Currently I'm really struggling to find the motivation to play survivor in order to complete my survivor rift challenges.

I believe the reason you are now enjoying survivor more is due to you playing killer for a such a long time, playing survivor is a different experience.

  • @RakimSockem said:

I'll address the DS + Unbreakable towards the end of the thread because I know that's what all the angry people are going to come in here ready to yell about.

I'm starting by addressing the perk itself. We all know what it does because there's endless threads about it. From the time you're unhooked, if the killer picks you up again within 60 seconds, you get a chance to hit a skill check and stun the killer. Cool.

There are many perks I would and DO run over that for a number of reasons. DS depends on the playstyle of the killer and only works if they choose to tunnel you instead of going after the 3 other people on the map. And I don't want to hear about "Well, they're just trying to be efficient and tunneling is a good strategy" because I'm not arguing against that. They're fine strategies (despite being boring for the survivor), but I'm just stating facts. I play killer and I know exactly who was just pulled off a hook recently, how many times each person has been hooked, who is on death hook, who I've never seen. Every killer knows that so when someone chooses to go after the same person again, they know what they're doing and we're just going to call it what it is.

Now that being said, here's perks that are better (imo) that DS because YOU control when you use them.

Borrowed Time - BT has its own set of weaknesses but it can get people out of a LOT of bad situations if you play it correctly. You control when it gets used, not the killer.

Kindred - Damn near indispensable in solo Q. Anytime someone gets hooked, you have knowledge of where your team is and what they are doing, and possibly where the killer is located based on hook is running. If you are on the hook, your team gets that knowledge

We'll Make It - Quick heals off of the hook. Both players are back to what they need to do in what... 8 seconds? Idk the exact time but I know it's short.

Inner Strength - Encourages players to take care of totems which helps prevent NOED and works as a pocket save

For the People - A pretty good anti tunnel perk when you pull someone off a hook and instantly use it. The killer either has to make the choice of commiting to the tunnel which would take 2 hits and possibly a long chase, or going after a fresh target. And most people don't expect it so they usually commit to who freshly unhooked person expecting an easy kill.

Saboteur - Map wide hook knowledge, lets you see where hook deadzones are so you can make sabo plays. My SWF friends consistently see me pull these off at least once or twice every game.

Lithe - If window hitboxes ever get fixed, this allows for a pretty good extended chase that a killer might not be expecting and can extend loops

Hell as much as I think it's trash, I might even run Dead Hard for the same reason as Lithe. Only reason I don't use it is because it fails more often than it works

I personally don't like to use DS either. However, you can't deny that DS is one of the most powerful perks at higher tier game-play.

60 seconds is a long time to be immune to being hooked again, a killer can potentially hook two survivors in that time. When you're constantly hooking different survivors, it's quite easy to lose track of when a survivor was unhooked last. When all the survivors look the same, it further increases the difficulty to keep track of who you hooked and when.

Also a single survivor can finish a generator in 80 seconds. A survivor could get unhooked with DS, and jump on a generator and if that survivor has unbreakable, there's not much the killer can do to stop that survivor from finishing that generator.

Taking a DS stun at higher tier game-play can potentially cost the killer the game. As playing against a good team, the killer is often one mistake from losing the game. When I play killer I can often pinpoint the mistake that cost me the game.

You may play killer, but there's a difference between playing killer casually and playing killer at red ranks (even then you'll often go against a weak team).

  • @lostboy said:

######### can I do? I run DS and unbreakable and still they go out their way to ruin the fun out of this game. I am a killer main and never play that style, but it appears when ever I go and play survivor I get this sort of trash play style. Sure three survivors always survivor, but I am always the forth (no torch, no t-bag just doing gens).

Why can't you just accept defeat instead of literally face camping and then tunnelling?! It's not even funny any more.

I also have issues with certain killers who deliberately go out their way to bring in a mori when they go against me. Played the same killer three times in 48 hours and every time he will bring in a mori and joke after in chat stating he is just 'farming'.

Apart from the the killer that seems to be targeting you for some reason, there might be a reason why the killer is "camping" and "tunneling".

According to your post you're a killer main, if so you should know that often scenarios in game may often to be perceived different to the killer and the survivors.

If the killer is camping the hook it might be due to the killer knowing or believing that other survivors are in the area. Or if the survivor is hooked in between a 3 gen, the killer has no reason to leave the area as the killer needs to patrol the remaining three generators.

Also if you're hooked once the exit gates are open, you can't blame the killer for camping in that situation. What else can the killer do in that situation.

Tunneling is a complicated matter, a lot of players don't seem to know what tunneling is. Tunneling is when you're only focused on a specific survivor, you're going out your way ignore the rest of the survivors to constantly go for that one survivor.

Tunneling is not when the unhooked survivor runs into the killer, you can't just expect the killer to ignore you because you got unhooked. Also if the killer is not hooking the same survivor in a row, then the killer is not tunneling.

Scott Jund did a video on this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnvO825G5Sk

On the flip side a good way to reduce the chances of you being tunneled, is to improve your ability in looping. If you're a strong looper, it will decline the killer's incentive to chase you, as the killer will know you'll waste a lot of his time. When you're an experienced killer you can tell the difference between a good survivor and a bad survivor just by their movement.

I have started to play doc for something new, but i have some questions for experienced doc users.

Is he viable without shock addons?

Are there any loops that you can't beat quickly using shock and should just instantly break?

I'm a Doctor main, I've been a Doctor main since his rework. Before I took my break from DBD I was consistently playing a rank 1 killer, and I rarely use add ons as killer. I only use Add ons if I see a survivor I know to be toxic.

Not using add ons as Doc does limit him, as the shocking distance is very short. If you're playing Doc without add ons you will have a rough time using your power at filler pallets and T and L walls. Although you can still prevent survivors from vaulting or using a pallet at jungle gyms and shack, once you get your shock timing right.

Just have in mind when playing as Doctor have in mind after you shock a survivor there is a delay of around a second, where after the survivor is shocked they are still able to vault and use a pallet. After this delay they cannot, getting the Doctor shock timing right comes with experience.

As mentioned above I've been playing Doc consistently at rank 1 since his rework, whilst it'll make the match a lot harder it's possible to consistently win as Doctor without add ons.

Doctor is my main, I'm extremely familar with his power. Which enables me to be able to use his shock effectively without add ons. Someone who isn't a Doctor main may struggle without add ons.

    So some background.

I've been playing for years and have been pretty survivor sided. I saw myself in Dwight and instantly clicked to him. Dwight is a bit more tame while I'm more crazy but I too am an awkward leader of sorts in my day to day life. I mained him ever since. I played killer from time to time but it never felt like it fit, like it was right for me, like how playing Dwight felt. I figured that maybe I just need to try harder on the killers I'm good at (Spirit, Legion, Hag, Demogorgon).

Now let's go to when the Doctor got his rework. I never played him before that and after the hundreds of games I had to play with him, I grew to hate him. I thought he was overpowered, I couldn't sneak, do gens, not even totems without hearing his crazy laughter behind me. It aggravated me to no end every time I heard the initial shock in the distance at the begining of each trial. It was pure hatred.

Well a couple of nights ago I was goofing off, playing snoot boop pig when I figured since killer queue times were fast, I'd play every killer I've never played before once with no perks just to see how it is. One by one, I still had that feeling of it just not being right...until I got to my last and most dreaded killer - The Doctor. I entered the match and I instantly got a rush of excitement. I flew through the map electrocuting every survivor I saw, shut down loops, located that pesky blendette, and I got a 4k with no perks. It felt exhilarating! I instantly pumped hundreds of thousands of bloodpoints into the doc and I equiped his tome skin outfit (his lore skin from the archive rift) and I dominate the game, getting 4ks each game, loving the sound I once dread - the first shock of the game.

I can now proudly say that I am a Dwight AND Doctor main :)

    I'm a Doctor main too.

From what I'm getting from your post you've barely played killer before until recently? It would explain your post history.

Take this from a former survivor main, once you play killer consistently at red ranks it starts to open your eyes.

Just curious how many hours do have in the game, as well as what is your player level?

Granted there are some bad map designs. However, one of the most important skills to learn as survivor is the ability to plan your chase routes, rather than running aimlessly.

To be able to plan a chase is route does take some map knowledge, when I personally run into a dead end I blame myself, for not knowing the map properly. Once you get familiar with the majority of the tiles on a map, you'll have an easier time route planning, have a reduced chance of being caught out of position, running into a dead end, or running into dead zones.

Windows of opportunity is a good perk, for helping you get better at chase route planning. There are also a lot of looping tutorials for certain maps on youtube too.

Granted there's a lot of potatoes at red ranks, but there are less potatoes at red ranks than there are at say green ranks.

Although when I'm playing survivor and I see a survivor get downed within five seconds, I'll question how valuable they are to the team. Often I'll prioritize finishing my generator before saving them.

  • If a killer is camping at red ranks they're throwing the game.

If you know the killer is camping, just gen rush and escape as quickly as possible. For the survivor team it's better that the killer only gets a 1k than a 2k or even a 3k/4k.

It sounds like you're playing at around rank 20. Inexperienced killers will camp and tunnel because they don't know any better, if you're going down to them to inexperienced killers then that's on you.

If you're playing survivor at the higher levels, you don't really need to use second chance perks to escape. You don't even need to use perks as survivor currently. If you do need to use second chance perks to a chance to escape, then again that's on you.

...after all the changes from smaller maps,no more infinites etc,how about you rework shelter woods?A map where it evens makes BL practically a useless perk...

Despite the changes the game is still survivor sided, especially against a swf (due to gen times). Once you play against a tournament SWF you know the game isn't "killer sided".

Whilst I agree Shelter Woods needs to be changed, it's more due to how outdated that map is (I've made posts about it).

Shelter Woods is winnable as survivor, if the survivor team knows what they're doing. The survivors just need to split up and work on separate generators, and be efficient with pallets. It's extremely important not to waste pallets on Shelter Woods, if a baby meg wastes all the pallets in the first minute of the game, then the survivor team is probably going to lose.

It's also important to try and avoid getting downed near the basement as well, but that goes for most maps.

The survivors do have resources to loop the killer, due to the amount of jungle gyms there are on the map. If a survivor is good enough they can use a jungle gym for a long time without having to use the pallet.

Just curious how many hours do you have in the game (and/or your player level), because balance landing is currently one of the worst exhaustion perks in the game after it's nerf. In my opinion, it's pointless to run balance landing when there's dead hard and sprint burst, which are a lot better at providing more longevity to a chase. I'd rather have Head on than balance landing.

EDIT: I have around 2k hours in the game, I play both sides. For the majority of those 2k hours I spent as a survivor main, however, during the past six months I've transitioned into more of a killer main.

So lets say you are playing Oni and you get your power and down someone, keep in mind that no gens are done in this time, and you see someone in infectious fright. The guy will slug you. That's just how the killer is played.

On the other side of the coin, slugging at 5 gens as a good nurse is morally not okay.

What survivor mains don't seem to get is that five generators remaining, can quickly become two generators remaining.

If I see another survivor after I downed the first survivor, I'm going to leave that survivor on the floor go after the other survivor. Regardless how many generators are remaining.

The game is designed to be fun but favor the killer , while at times survivor can be strong

The game is killer sided , just get good and enjoy the uphill battle :)

    The game is killer sided?

I don't think you've played killer higher than rank 12.
