Honestly, as far as game mechanics go, I want the old hatch back again instead of the new changes to the keys. And that's speaking from a killer main.
As far as an event, I'd much rather one that just restricts killers, survivors, perks, items, and maps to the original line-up, but otherwise keeping the mechanics as they are now. I'm kinda curious how the old school settings would go while using today's coat of paint.
-
I can see this as being good in 2 ways. Either you limit the range of being able to see the aura to already being super close, or you just make it so you can always see if a teammate is in a locker when you're nearby, and Head-On increases that range a little bit. I can see the second one being of use anyway. Then, if you're in a chase, you can kite the killer away in case of them hiding till the killer is far enough away to keep them from just waiting while you're right next to them.
-
I wonder if this could work without unbalancing the game. Maybe have one of the add-on slots allow you to substitute a perk in exchange for only getting to use one add-on.
-
Did you not realize that killer instinct sees through lockers?

As the title says, I'll start. This is purely for fun and not to judge others but poking fun at them is allowed as is debating why you'd run such perks. I can't see survivors running a no-counter Play Perk build so I'll go with Killer.
Huntress Add-on's: Iri Head + Infantry Belt
Perks: Tinkerer, BBQ, Iron Maiden, Thanatophobia
Alternate Root for Tinkerer is Sloppy Butcher
The main point of this build is as simple as it comes for everyone who knows how it works. IRI head reduces your hatchets to 4 and the Infantry Belt negates that giving you three easy ways to down a survivor; you just gotta make your shots count. BBQ for points and Iron maiden to negate those who hide in lockers to avoid being seen or found by BBQ because literally NO ONE runs distortion or any perk i've seen to negate being seen by BBQ
Tinkerer + Phobia is a little obvious but it's to slow down those gens once you do manage to down someone or even injure them, especially with Tinkerer which usually gets negated by Spine chill; that being said, if you yeet a hatchet at the right time; Easy Down. If you don't want Tinkerer, make their life hell and use like a legion would Sloppy + Phobia is god annoying for any survivor to go up against; Unless you're the competent SWF team.
Iridescent Head now states that your hatchet count cannot be raised above 1 hatchet. She got an add-on pass a while back.

Imagine if Laurie dropped a pallet on Myers in the movie, but they made it make sense in universe and unless you played Dead by Daylight it looked like a completely ordinary horror movie chase scene.
If it were like other movies, it'd be a pallet with other stuff on an around it or a stack of pallets. As a homage to dbd, he could stop right before she dropped it, look at what she dropped, then back at her before just kicking it out of the way.
-
Um. I got adept on my second try. I think he's pretty good. Really difficult to time his tentacle at places. I do better with hom than Pyramid Head.
-
She's Chinese, yeah? I believe the Chinese pronunciation would be "Fun," then.
-
Legit the only character, not just killer, that I've bothered to p3 is Legion.
-
With the start of match aura perk that came with Nemesis, I can see more people playing Blight
-
After the atrocity of Ghostface at the start of his ptb, I'd have to disagree.
-
Am I the only one that really liked last year's event? I liked the crowns and the skins

You need 4x as many Survivors as you do Killers to start a game.
My Killer queue times are about a minute. Every day. Consistently. In fact, I just had one less than 30 seconds.
It's in the math, friends.
Enough is enough.
Enough words.
Enough redirections.
Enough fallacies.
Queue time for Killer is NOTHING.
Because there are PLENTY of Survivors to go around.
Playing Survivor is free real estate. Everyone knows it. Everyone shows it by what they play.
Take a balance-designed game like CSGO or LoL. Now imagine if you always had to play the team that had 4 people, and your friend always had to play the team that had 1 person. Who do you think would ALWAYS get their games first?
But yet, in DBD, it's the exact opposite. Killer queue times are FASTER. Even though they should be the exact opposite, SLOWER.
How much more do you need??? I am actually asking you this. YOU. You, personally, Guy Who Keeps Saying Game Balance is Fine.
What does it take for you to admit it? If even the sheer, raw math doesn't crack your shell? Do you need god himself to peek out from the clouds and be like, "YES. YES, INDEEDETH, SURVIVOR IS FREE WINS IN DEAD BY DAYLIGHT! NOW AWAY I GO!"
What in god's FREAKING name does it TAKE for you lot to just ADMIT it??????
Enough WORDS. Enough DEBATING or ARGUING.
It's RIGHT the FRICK THERE. It's IN the NUMBERS. It's IN the MATH.
4:1 player ratio and the 1 has faster queues.
GET. REAL.
The playerbase knows it.
EVERYONE KNOWS IT.
STOP.
SAYING.
ANYTHING ELSE.
I just can't take it anymore. Human delusion LITERALLY knows no bounds. There is NO LIMIT to what people will tell themselves.
Somebody help me. Legitimately. How do I cope with this? Why does it even upset me so much???
As a math major with a degree, allow me to quote something from my stats classes. "Correlation is not causation." There are MANY other factors. For a year and a half, I didn't even touch survivor. It didn't appeal to me until Ash dropped because the literal thing that brought me to the game was getting to play as killer. Even now, with the tomes. Every tome, I've done every killer challenge, but still have a bunch of survivor challenges left on several of them. To me, killer is just more fun. Both sides are equally as frustrating to me at times. You can't say, "More people play survivor, therefore survivor is better, and killer isn't balanced." No, that's not how it works. What if there are just more people that WANT to play survivor?
Ps.: Hell, I've played so little survivor lately, my survivor rank dropped to 20 this last reset.

I played around 10 games with this build and I think only 2-3 pallets were drop during my FF, so it wouldn't be worth it too much
That's odd. I generally get a decent amount when I play. I usually respect pallets as Legion, though, then pop FF, so I tend to get a decent amount that way.

Joey's mix tape and Cold dirt
Ruin, enduring, brutal strength and spirit fury
I've been having quite a lot of success with this build and yes I've played against reds, most of my matches were reds but also had some that were purple and green, because broken MM, but this build have been working really well for me, the longer ruin last the better obviously but even when I was losing it within the first minute I was still really successful, give it a try.
Could also try iridescent Pin. Breaking pallets by vaulting them counts towards spirit fury. The goal then becomes getting hit by a pallet right as you land a hit in FF. The stun with enduring is less than the cool down of coming out of your power.

Just show the buff aura immediately... Don't have it wait until the Survivor gets hit...
As it is right now, it's basically a 5th Perk, to put it as shortly as possible.
----
As it is right now, you LEARN that somebody has it by hitting a Survivor and then they glow white... but you're now stuck in place on attack cooldown animation. And that's a huge loss. That's an escaped Survivor, you lost 'em.
And not only that, but you have this on potentially 3 more Survivors, too.
But maybe not!
And that's the REAL kicker.
That's why it's a 5th Perk. The only way to counterplay it is to assume they have it. You can't afford to swing at them in order to learn. But, my freaking god, it's TWELVE SECONDS!! I have to ride their buttcheeks for TWELVE SECONDS, just based on the assumption that they are buffed by their rescuer.
But maybe they AREN'T! Maybe the rescuer does NOT have Borrowed Time! But since I have to respect it anyway, then they basically DO have it, now, don't they?
And then for the ultimate "mind games," if you end up testing it and learn that they DO have Borrowed Time... now you kind of assume EVERYONE will have it. But, again, maybe not! Maybe only that ONE guy has it, and unhooked a Surv, and you smacked 'em. And maybe that was going to be the only time anyone was ever Enduranced all game. But, alas, you spent the rest of the game respecting a non-existent buff for TWELVE SECONDS each time just because you really cannot afford not to.
....
UGH. It's just pure misery.
Is this ever talked about??? It seems like a very obvious & glaring issue, to me.
So... Don't tunnel maybe? Like, it's very specifically an anti-tunneling perk.

As a pig main, been playing Hex pig or how I'd like to call, Sidequest Pig.
-Devour
-undying
-ruin
-thrill of the Hunt
Add-ons, tampered timer, and increase time searching boxes.
It's a scummy build in my opinion but the idea is to bring the game to a crawl with overwhelming the survivors with objectives. Take off your trap or you die, find devour before I get 5 stacks, find undying so you can deal with the other perks, find ruin so you can actually progress the gens while finding the other stuff, and find thrill so you can do everything else faster.
Oh and RNG might screw you with the boxes in a large map soo. Oh since I have thrill and it takes like 20 seconds to destroy hexes, if I'm nearby, I'm gonna interrupt you and you have to do it all over again, same with boxes.
Scummy build again but it's fun to relish in the survivors suffering.
I like that. I'll have to give it a go.

Thana maybe, but I've not seen anyone using dying light, on any character, in more than a year.
Meta for Legion is the slow down build. Dying Light + Thanatophobia. Usually Legion Pin instead of Defaced Smiley Pin though. Making survivors broken keeps Thanatophobia up longer. Also usually ruin, too, cuz Legion can utilize ruin quite well. It's generally considered Legion's BEST build, as Deep Wounds wastes time already, and this build just stacks on things that make it take forever for survivors to do anything.
-
Coldwind just got a rework. As such, the probability of getting the realm has been increased. This happens every time a new map drops or an old map get reworked.
-
@MadLordJack said:
That build works because you're preying on solo players. Go against an average SWF team and you're screwed.
Personally, I like my aggressive Legion build. Dying Light, Thana, Enduring, Infectious Fright, and the mangled add-on. Works the same agasint solo's as SWF.
As far as Legion goes, though, Dying Light + Thanatophobia with Mangled Add-on is meta.

Really? It's been awhile since I read her bio. Idr it being in there. That would mean they renegged on their desire not to include sexual preference almost immediately. Huh.

A trans man is someone assigned female at birth, but their gender identity is male.

David was in the second tome. Mentions his ex, and refers to her as "she."

I propose a simple solution--
Never mention anything about relationships or sexuality, ever. No one has girlfriends or boyfriends.
No one being included means everyone is included.
They were doing that originally. I think David's lore was the first time they mentioned a relationship. They realized they went against what they first said, and made an announcement about it later.

My happy ending in a match is to get 2 hooks on every survivor, and then down them and leave them enough times for them to figure out something's up so that they eventually start memeing/approach me/stop caring when I show up at their generator. That's where I'm having the most fun.
I'll switch to killing them if they BM me. Though it's also satisfying to finally down that person who's been looping you for a hot minute throughout the match. Successful mindgames really do feel good.
Legit, if there's a really good survivor, and they aren't being toxic, I'm happy if I can down them. If I accomplish nothing else, I'm still satisfied.

That would make the rites of judgement ability useless though, and it would be too powerful if POTD inflicted torment on survivors because of his ability to tunnel someone off cage.
Well the idea was to essentially change the way his power worked. Sort of how Scratched Mirror changes how Meyers works.
-
Honestly, I think he should have an add-on that makes it so trails he leaves disappear after 3 seconds, but successful basic attacks give you killer instinct on the survivor you hit, and successful hits with Punishment of the Damned inflict Torment.
-
@D3spair said:
With Small Game a free perk getting massively buff to specifically destroy totems and the all powerful Detective Hunch, there is now no excuses that totems will be hard to find in a trial.
They should revert the Undying changes to make it transfer from dull totem to dull totem again like how it used to be.
Nah. I like it better now. Before, it was only any good with Ruin. Now it's useful regardless of what hex you use. Helps with Third Seal and Devour builds.

Nah a wraith then a legion with insidious
Legion with insidious... As a Legion main, this makes my soul hurt...
-
So I tend to run Third Seal, Undying, Nurse's, and Knockout. Then I run Defaced Smiley Pin and either a duration or recovery add-on. Get them mangled so it takes longer to get them off the ground. Keep them blind. Then I like either Hawkins or Midwich.
-
Legion is best at stalling the game. I'd say their best build would be Ruin, Undying, Thanatophobia, Dying Light, Stolen Sketch Book, and Legion Pin. You get them broken to keep them injured, it takes forever to finish gens. Though, recently, I've been having fun with a slug build that has had surprisingly good results.
-
I'd say Clown. He needs to focus too much on individual survivors to be able to pressure gens.
-
@IWasLeft2Die said:
Personally I think Myers has the best. His changes his playstyle the most and can make survivors strategies very different.
Id consider putting huntress in the mix as well since hers can also be very intense
I was going to mention Meyers. Practically every single add-on is useful in certain play styles.
-
One of my dream chapters was legit Silent Hill. Honestly...kinda disappointed.
But my absolute "I want this in the game" would be a Fatal Frame chapter.

We have perks like MoM and WGLF that are built around body blocking for other people.
We even have archive challenges built around taking X amount of protection hits, which can't be done without body blocking.
So why can we get banned for it?
The type of body blocking that is bannable is, like, if the killer blocks the last survivor in a corner without closing the hatch. No etc timer, no attacking. The game will literally never end unless the last survivor disconnects.
-
Honestly, as a killer main, I would have rather had DS disabled in exit gates than anything that they changed withe the recent Nerf.
-
No. If nobody cleanses, you aren't denying her power, you're falling for half of it. If everyone is broken, you might as well be going against a t3 Meyers. Just without the speed boosts. That doesn't seem ideal to me.
-
As a killer main, I don't mind this. I hate it when they butt wiggle and leave first.
-
Ruin + Undying was the only thing about it that was nerfed. Undying + pretty much any other hex was buffed.
-
@Lord_Tony said:
I don't understand the whole point of cage of atonement was that it was slightly harder because of skil checks.
now t hat hooks have skill checks why bother with cage?
Um. Well, it moves the survivor for you so you don't need to pick them up. Not to mention that it's completely impossible to escape a cage without someone freeing you. So...
-
If it's a consistent problem, I suggest bringing Lightborn. It nullifies flashlights entirely
-
Legion will always be my favorite. Ghostface and Trickster are tied for second.
I hate Wraith's mori. It's only slightly different than Trapper, but the hits don't seem to connect, making the whole thing feel hollow.

Trickster tweeks. I'd actually prefer a spread to his knives than recoil.

As far as I can tell, the cool down doesn't trigger if it doesn't affect anyone. I could be wrong.

I don't know man, I'm pretty hyped for the new chapter. The killer makes me think of the Scorpion from The Devil's Carnival. Although, with the teasers, I was hoping more for a killer that utilized fire in some way, but I'm still excited. To each their own.

now welcome, spirit has 2 indications that she is phasing 1 the glass shards on her skins light up quite obviously this can be covered by skins but do not fret there is another way to tell when Ms Spispi is phasing its called animations. When she enters phase her animations reset and her hands scrunch up this is easy to see
(i have 1.5k hours in the game and everything i have said has been researched and tested in game)
Um...have you ever played survivor? Her hands scrunching up is only on killer side. Survivor doesn't see that. Honestly, that's the only tell I think she should have, though. If that animation was implemented survivor side, I think that would be enough. You could still use the stand still method, though. Just pop your power and immediately let go.
-
I think if the killer is near enough to the hook without being in a chase for a certain amount of time, the hook timer pauses. Every survivor should have 3-5 seconds of endurance when unhooked regardless of terror radius. I think gen speeds are fine, though. If you're getting gen rushed, it's because you aren't giving the survivors anything else to do. If no one in injured, hooked, or down, they can do gens or look for bones.
