I would like to clarify that people are not just banned for "insulting" others...
People were banned for "policing the forums".
Making "jokes" -that was non-harmful to anyone else or threatening or insulting etc. Such as accused of making a "bait" thread... it was a joke and they were accused of trying to anger people basically. Things in that nature as well.
Edit: Oh right. And the people that get banned for "going around" the profanity filter, when they type in the word exactly how it is spelled (aka not going around it at all, it's just a forum fail that they didn't add it to the filter). But nope. ban.
So, it's not just "insults"... And it's not that "simple" either.
I'll be honest I see people, many, getting away with insulting others, even when reported and nothing happens. I do tend to notice people being more critical are the ones to get "gone" first.
I also notice "bugs" that occur on these forums. But it seems very convenient... Along with many posts get magically deleted.
It does seem like sometimes "mods" have an agenda... (this is noted when "mods" go back in people's history to "tag" on things for ban reasoning's etc.)
But who moderates, the moderators...
All I know is. From knowing what I know.. I know my time will come.
You probably aren't wrong, with your last line, lol

Gen speeds are too much I agree just, in this scenario he could have done something about that second one.
The first gen popped before he could even make it from one end of the map to the other.

That sounds like poor optimization, in which case, thats BHVR's fault.
Unpopular opinion: Games shouldn't be optimized for low end systems. It's 2020.

Im just curious. I play both sides but title myself a killer main because I have the most hours and fun with killer. Atm I play a lot survivor (like 70% of the time).
So I wonder are there players who only play killer?
I know many 100% survivor players, only touching killer for dailys sometimes. But I havent encountered the opposite tbh. Do they exist?
I think in order to be a better survivor, or a better killer, you kind of have to play both sides to an extent. I don't know of anyone who truly only plays one side.

Gen speed is fine, for the most part. The problem is the lack of gen pressure that is possible early game, which is a map issue more than anything.

its just been a lot more bans than usual on here i would imagine. the game has great qualities, but seems as if it just lacks a direction, and instead of responding to the community with something like
"WE NEED TO REMOVE RUIN IN ORDER TO GET A BASELINE ON WHAT GAMES WILL LOOK LIKE WITHOUT IT SO WE CAN QUICKLY TAKE MORE ACTION FOR BETTER GAME BALANCE."
.. but we don't hear anything because they take forever in terms of balance adjustments; where as in games like league of legends they are CONSTANTLY changing the meta and balancing/rebalancing.. because at the end of the day balance is basically whack a mole with the stuff that ends up rising to the surface
Indeed.
Instead of hearing something like what you said...we hear "We need to bork ruin so it's not so hard for new survivors". Honestly - whoever writes their PR notes needs to be sent back to customer retention training immediately. They could have alleviated a LOT of this had they worded it correctly, because the way they worded it may as well have been a giant ascii picture of a middle finger to killers.

Few friends have gotten banned for stating the developers didn't play their own game and/or were bad at it.
Which they are. But we don't talk about that.
Speaking of not talking about things...
I read an old thread about people being shadow banned not too long ago. It was a thread from September of 2018 as a matter of fact. I only read it cause it was listed that it had a reply..but strangely enough even though the thread listing said it had a reply, the reply was missing when I went into the actual thread.
It was deleted in the last week, along with a much newer thread asking about shadow banning...issue is, if you google "dead by daylight forum shadow ban", it's still the first in the search results...click the link and the thread no longer exists. That's how you know it was deleted recently. It's placement in the search rankings.
Basically, shadow banning is when you are set to "private" in so many words. You can read posts, and in theory still post, but nobody can see your content except you, and they more or less bank on the fact that you don't notice.

As a PSA the term "Willful Ignorance" is deemed as an insult "You're saying so and so is ignorant" even "though the term was originally—and still is—used in legal contexts, the phrase "willful ignorance" has come to mean any situation in which people intentionally turn their attention away from an ethical problem that is believed to be important by those using the phrase (for instance, because the problem is too disturbing for people to want it dominating their thoughts, or from the knowledge that solving the problem would require extensive effort)."

Wouldn't it depend if you were using it as an insult, tho? Developmentally delayed is a medical term but depending on the context can be insulting. Are you claiming that you were having a discussion about the law with somebody? Or did you use a legal term as an insult?
There's no way to use the term and have it be positive - but observing it as a behavior is not an insult, especially when it's blatantly represented by the people being criticized for exhibiting said behavior.

Probably because they don't really have the info to talk about the base gen speeds since everyone was using Ruin to slow them down. Now that Ruin is gone they will be able to get the right info to know what to do next.
That's a load of crap. If they had the info to nerf ruin, they damn well have the info on gen times (or, rather, ability to apply gen pressure, which I think is a map problem more than a gen time problem).
It's just not in their greedy interests to cater to killers as much as it is to cater to baby survivors.

If it’s able to turn around the game in favor of one side despite the other actually playing better, how can you not consider it broken? Especially because you literally don’t need any skill to perform a mori or escape with a key.
Overpowered? Yes. Broken? No.
If this were an actual competitive game, the broken argument would be valid. As it happens, it's as casual as it gets.

Britney was right when she said “ toxic”.
I'm not telling you you're wrong. I'm simply telling you what the game is. Even the developers created the game with casual play in mind. It can not ever be a competitive game. Simply due to the RNG nature of it.
Now I'll tell you you're wrong - because "being told you're wrong" is not toxic.

IIRC, they said they were pleased with how the changes were going because their experimental group of players were having more fun with the new ruin even though 4 or 5 gens were up almost all game. They are most likely going to go through with the changes. I've given my speculation for why they may have done it, but we as players have to move forward with the change instead of constantly harassing them for answers. At the very least, instead of asking "Why?", we should be asking "What Now?". I don't care that old ruin is dead and gone as long as they make changes to accommodate it.
Nobody cares about their internal experimental research. They want to know what will be done to fix killers ability to apply gen pressure on huge maps. That is the issue, and it always has been. It was never the ruin nerf - and that is what they keep dodging. They are also have a bad enough track record with balance decisions for people not to trust them.

The approach of ignoring all the facts presented and holding onto a point that cannot be proved sounds very “scientific”. And based on your words, I concluded that your opinion is that “camping and tunneling” is fun for the majority of the community.Then provide me some evidences to convince me with your opinions.
Thing is, you're calling what you say facts based on absolutely no evidence. Then, you make the assumption that I think something that I never said (ala - putting words in my mouth). There in lies where the argument ends, and you lose. Calling your opinion "fact" and manufacturing things I never said. OOF.
You're the one making the base claim. Therefore it is up to you to provide the evidence. It's not up to other people to prove you wrong. So run along now. You have work to do.

I think it goes without saying. Both sides in this game can be toxic. It’s a competitive game and people hate losing. I think if more people played both sides, there would be less tension. Since playing killer, when I used to be survivor main, I did gain a whole new perspective. I’m also not as angry when I die as survivor because I can appreciate the killers tactics.
It's not a competitive game. The only thing competitive are the players. The game itself is so casual in nature it's basically a party game.

Yes, it has. It was answered in the notes, by Peanits and Almo even made a thread on the reasoning. Again you may not like the answer, but it is still the answer
Kindly show me to where they answered why instead of nerfing ruin they didn't fix why it was used so much to begin with? THAT is the real question. Nobody cares WHY they nerfed ruin. They nerfed a killer perk to make it easier for new survivors. People want to know why it was nerfed before the reason it was used was fixed.

Several days ago I peeked Peanits stream. He was playing a rank 2 huntress game. I saw him got 2 kills. In the end chat, the survivors asked him, why you camped and tunneled? He responded that “oh I saw you guys brought a key and I assumed we are gonna play sweaty.”
I think the majority of the community have agreed that camping and tunneling is not fun. Don’t even argue this fact with me. And if a key is causing “the representative of the devs team voice to the community” to choose an unfun play style, there’s no reason this item should not be looked at.
"The majority" based on all that non existent research.
Assuming the majority of the community is on this forum, or even on twitch. OOF.

Uhm... You didn’t answer the question and I didn’t say one side should facilitate the others fun at all. I’m not blaming these people that bring in keys or mories, it’s part of the game, but that doesn’t mean it should be.
Maybe you don’t care about getting moried or losing because of a key, but the fact remains that many people do so why shouldn’t anything be done about it?
And those "many" people (according to your non existent research) are the problem. Not the items. They need to take a casual game less seriously.

People are going to keep saying this stuff until you quit dodging the questions they are asking. The consistent dodging of relevant questions serves only to either make you look like you don't care, or like you haven't actually played your own game and don't have the knowledge to answer. Of course we all know it's not the latter, but at this point we consider it comical so we just poke fun at you for it.
And you guys wonder why the community takes jabs at BHVR at every turn. You guys actually wonder why you're a meme in the gaming world.

Killers act as if survivors are crybabies and toxic but killers complain about every single nerf they get. when balanced landing was nerfed the posts i saw were survivors giving reasonable ideas to balance balanced landing and make it a fair perk and a few toxic posts. When ruin nerf was announced the posts im seeing are killers saying there gonna tunnel and bring moris. Im not hating on killers but u guys need to admit that survs arnt the only entitled ones in the community. Don't hate me plz
When survivor perks are nerfed, the core functionality remains in the perk, and they are even given a trade off to compensate a lot of the time. In the case of BL, it only provided the stagger reduction when not exhausted after the nerf, but the trade off is you no longer make noise when dropping. Balance landing wasn't nerfed into obscurity, which is why survivors didn't complain much.
When killer things get nerfed, they get nerfed to the point of being useless. So saying that killers complain about getting nerfs, look at the nerfs they get compared to the barely nerfs survivors get. Complaining about that kind of injustice is not toxic.
If you really wanna compare - go back to when Self Care and DS were nerfed. There were literally review bombs on Steam.

Tell me how is it fun if you are smacked right off the hook and Moried under the hook. If you consider that being fun then well you are pathetic.
I don’t care about ranks despite I’m rank 1 on both sides. Personally I don’t bring a key nor a mori into the game because I care about the fun of the other side. I want people to enjoy the game.
If the majority of the community consider those experiences to be unfun, then it is devs’ job to satisfy the majority of their customers not minority like you.
I don't have issues with it. It's just a game. I move on to the next game. If I was smacked right off the hook, either the killer was camping, or I was farmed. Both of which are the fault of the survivor who unhooked me. Not the killer.
As well - don't presume to speak for the majority. You're not their mouth piece. This forum is far from the majority. In fact, the majority of the community isn't even on this forum. Cause they don't care about it as much as you do.

Wraith was the first killer I truly "learned". He's still the one I play most. I suppose I would call myself a Wraith main (back before it was cool #DBDHIPSTER). Yes a casual game that forces you to play ranked
It has one playlist. It's not called "ranked". It's called "Survivor". It having ranks means nothing. Super Mario Bros U had ranks too. Guess it must be competitive.
That argument is invalid.
@Kreatya said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/996070#Comment_996070
Casual games are supposed to be FUN to play. If one side can easily make the other side’s game miserably unfun through one single item, it is the devs’ job to balance it out. The moment I saw survivors bring a key into the game, I would say “oh f**k”. The moment I saw a killer using a secret offering, I would take my hands off the keyboard and say “f**k it”. Because I know these games aren’t gonna be FUN.
You have only yourself to blame for not having fun. Same with killers who complain the same way. You take the game too seriously. Learn not to care about your rank which matter so much less now with the way matchmaking works. It goes a long way to making the game fun.
Don't nerf that which makes the game fun. Nerf your competitive attitude, or go find a competitive game to play.
-
Watching a fellow survivor get mori'd (or performing the mori yourself) and then watching them come here to demand a mori nerf as if it happens every game because they were mori'd for the first time in like a week or two.

@Mak0 said:

This would only make ranking up harder with the amount of times people dc
Eh, there's not really any other solution to it. Other than leaving it how it is. But survivor disconnects need to be balanced differently between affecting the killer vs the other survivors. If a survivor DC's, the rest of the survivors STILL have a chance to pip up. The killer? Not so much. He now has no chance.
-
They don't need to go, nor do they need to be reworked. That goes for both keys and mori's. What needs to go is people taking the game too seriously. It's just a game. Stop trying to suck the fun out of it. It's a CASUAL game.

I am a killer main. There is no counter to the kind of camping I can bring to the table unless you are SWF.
Or, unless you run kindred, do gens, and leave.
But okay, you camp better than anyone else. People die sooner on the hook with you.
Sure, makes sense.
KEKW.

@Apple2o said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/994492#Comment_994492
Well thank you for basically admitting it has no true counter. I have maybe 5000+ hours in the game, I would not consider myself new.
I can camp down 2 survivors in the time it will take the rest to bang out the gens, assuming they are just pounding them out and not messing around trying to get the saves (which they usually are), and then get at least 1 more trying to open an exit gate.
The overwhelming majority of the time, gen progress entirely stops, because nobody wants to see their teammate die on first hook and they will hover around trying for the rescue.
That's not admitting anything. The counter is and always has been "Do gens and leave".
EVERY seasoned DBD player knows this. They also know that camping, while scummy, is a legitimate play style. Killers don't have to follow your imaginary survivor rule book.
-
Edit your thread title. Replace "Dedicated Servers" with "Dead by Daylight".
-
My first game, I played on Coldwind as Myers. I had no idea what I was doing, and Coldwind was SO dark back in 2016. I repeatedly lost survivors in the corn. Still ended up with 2 kills though, without even tiering up my evil within cause i didnt know that was a thing.
-
@Apple2o said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/994484#Comment_994484
So they should just watch their team die 1 by 1 on hook, which still ends in a 3k at the minimum by the way, because they took the wrong perks?
Yes. That is how you counter camping. Even with BT, you can't get the save unless they allow it. They will just interrupt the unhook and grab you.
My goodness, you really must be new. You are literally the type of player that makes camping work, and by association, the type of player that makes campers keep camping. Stop feeding them more kills, and don't let them get more than one.
-
@Apple2o said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/994471#Comment_994471
If you are taking kindred, that means you can't really have room for the perks that will actually break the camp, because you are not stopping it without BT and DS.
And it has nothing to do with a flex, it's just what is possible in this game. I can start a facecamp at 30-40 seconds into the game and if there is no BT/DS the survivors are screwed. That is a problem.
Trying to break the camp is what ends up rewarding the killer. This is where your argument fails. BT doesn't work if he hook grabs you while you try to unhook (which he will, if he's actually camping), and DS doesn't work unless they get unhooked. You can NOT stop camping. You can only punish it, by doing gens, and leaving. This is what skilled players do.
-
@Apple2o said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/994464#Comment_994464
And when I am good enough that I can get downs on survivors at 5 gens? How does a solo Q team even know I am camping? I always run perks and killers to lower my terror radius to almost nothing, or play actual stealth killers. By the time they even realize I am camping someone is usually dead.
- If you're good enough that you're downing survivors at all 5 gens...what is the point of that flex? It has nothing to do with camping.
- Kindred. That's how you know campers are camping as a solo player. Which also helps your team mates if you're the one being camped.
- If they couldn't figure it out (camping has HUGE tells), it's their own fault. Also, again, kindred.
Anything else?
-
@Apple2o said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/994428#Comment_994428
There is no outplaying camping unless you are running BT and DS.
If I am dumping on someone with flashlights and a locker build, they really deserve to lose anyways, because I would be dumping on them with any build really. The flashlights into inner strength heals into head-ons are just for style points.
Yes there is. It's called doing gens, and leaving. Force the killer to depip. That is how you outplay camping.
Welcome to DBD.
EDIT: Also, I'll reiterate, you admit to using builds that you know are annoying (which means you're doing it TO be annoying/a bully), so you don't really get to complain about camping in any sense.
