Imagine thinking BBQ is OP in 2020.

I mean, billy has an insta down and the best mobility in the game. If he should receive any nerf, it's bringing his movement speed to 110%. I think that'd put him in the most balanced spot imo. He can be quite oppressive at high ranks.
Imagine actually believing that. OOF.
-
I can't wait to see Coldwind get the Lery's treatment. That's gonna be a sight to see.
-
Eh. Disconnects should count as a full on sacrifice, and for the survivors, the game shouldn't count towards rank after the DC.
-
I wouldn't be opposed to this.

It wasn't a mechanic. Mechanics are intended.

I largely agree, the new map is fantastic. Though nobody will see this because I've been silenced.

the self-care tratment lol
No it didn't. Self care can be used over and over, never removed, and the core functionality stayed the same. Ruin was gutten, made nearly useless, and is STILL a hex totem.
Let me know when Self care becomes a hex totem, then you're allowed to make that comparison.

Why not do the PTB for two weeks, get one week of data with it as a Ruin and then one week with it as a passive Perk?
This would be great - but unfortunately it would expose BHVR's shoddy excuses for what they are. Money grabs for new players, and not even remotely about balance.
God damn a game for having a learning curve. KEKW.

Doubt it will go on to live.
On ptb it shouldn't really bother anyone.
Don't kid yourself - the basement hook glitch made it to live in the last big update. Nothing is out of the question for BHVR these days.

So apparently killers taking BNPs and toolboxes and trying to genrush in every game on PTB to try to skew the stats is a thing. I just saw some of them admitting that in the post-game chat. They try to prove that gens are done too fast without old ruin, though I rarely see BNPs in non-PTB games nowadays. That's really as cheap as it can get, congrats, killer-mains.
70% killrate is apparently not enough anymore, they'll do anything to get 4k in every game.
I hope DEVs will filter out those games from the PTB stats.
It's not "dirty" tactics. It's a reality. This is something that happens WITH ruin now, and it will get progressively worse without it in the future. Killers don't need to do this to skew stats, and believe it or not, survivor mains (ones who actually know the game - which I can see isn't you) for the large part agree that killers are getting the shaft here for no good reason. 80% of my hours, at least, are survivor. Even I think the changes are stupid.
Please - think before posting. Silly goose.

@BigBubs said:
We will never be back for sure I promise! The game will die without us!
So you better stop nerfing and start buffing so we can have fun destroying survivors easily without any challenge!
Imagine being a survivor main, the most mindless, cruise-control mode in the game, and talking about things being a "challenge".
OOF.
Credibility = lost.

Hey @underlord99!
You'll be happy to know that we already are looking to change the 3 second cooldown cause we know this is not working. The final change isn't yet approved so I cannot tell you what it is but when we have a confirmation, we'll communicate about it.
Good - now how about proper research on why Ruin is used on such a huge scale before nerfing that so quickly? I don't mean that to be aggressive, and I know low-key you can't agree with me (job security! we get it), but deep down even you have to question the amount of research that went into the ruin nerf.
-
You know what else makes the devs lose money? Not having killers.
-
Literally uses the term genrush, as a survivor, to explain why they DC'd....in a game where the only decent slowdown perk was nerfed...and you wonder why they're rage quitting.
Typical toxic survivor main.
-
And then, in a year when 80% of killers are running Corrupt Intervention, they'll nerf that too.

Yeah I bet survivors are happier with it, ever thought about why 80% of killers in the red ranks used it, no you're just gonna nerf it into oblivion and leave it at that ok cool. Hey Dev, care to tell us how you expect a Hex totem to have an effect in the late game, the same ones that everyone complains only last 30 seconds.
Don't ask questions that make sense. There is no sense to be had with BHVR.
-
I don't know man, I think even two perks is too much. Should just take perks away from killers. They have powers and M1 attacks, they don't need em.

That's called predicting the meta.
People do it all the time. We wouldn't receive patch notes or update posts if that weren't the case.
And I can tell ya know, Killers are gonna get rushed and survivors are gonna get bored. Playerbase will tank once again until the devs release the next big movie dlc, playerbase will gain a whole lot of new people but just enough to keep the game above water. Next round of buffs and nerfs come in, and the cycle repeats.
I agree that the playerbase will plummet, but I also believe it will happen a bit differently. With ruin being gutted, the killer meta will be tunnel, slug, camp and mori. Mori's will be used MUCH more heavily now, at least to eliminate the first person quick. Tunneling, and to a lesser extent, camping. Proxy camping and heavy patrolling will be much more prevalent with ruin gone.
If survivors thought they had to deal with a lot of tunneling, camping, slugging and mori's before. OOF. They are in for a world of hurt. Killers don't have time to play "nice" anymore. One of two things will happen from there - they'll nerf ALL of those things somehow, because they are frustrating to go against...OR they'll do something about gen speed/map balance. It will likely be the former, and that's when the game dies, cause there will be no killers left.

I'm not talking bad about killer mains I'm just saying you should be thankful for all these buffs and to stop complaining about changes for the better. You're not even getting as many nerfs as survivors
So, as someone who has a long history of trolling the DBD community (Killers can pallet loop too, btw), and being very good at it, let me tell you, you're terrible at it. Trolling is an art-form of sorts. One you're not even remotely adept at. In order for a troll to be a successful one, it has to not be obvious. What you're doing is equivalent to tattooing "KEKW" on your forehead. Or, rather, your 4Head.

Play a 3 gen strat. There's always a way to apply pressure. Might not be instant but you can
We all look forward to video you doing that with killers that don't have mobility on huge maps like Mother's Dwelling. Since it's so easy.
-
Submit a ticket. They tend to nerf killer things fairly quickly. :)
-
That really is the ideal and downright logical solution. Which is why it's not something BHVR is capable of thinking.
They should balance the game in 1/4 ranks. 20-16, 15-11, 10-6 and 5-1.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Enjoy being consistently slugged or mori'd then, since killers no longer will have a perk that allows them to delay the game to play nice in the first place then.
Everyone enjoys just bleeding out on the ground and being camped, right?
That really is it, isn't it? Ruin allowed us to play nice. Now we can't afford the time to play nice. If they thought Ruin was "unfun", they've got a world of pain and hurt coming their way when the new killer meta is to constantly tunnel, slug and camp. As well, mori offerings will skyrocket in use. Most people who play kill even semi consistently hoard them because (contrary to what baby survivors will tell you) they don't use them often. I personally have almost 3000 Mori's between all my killers. Will be a good time.
We'll give them something to complain about.

1 week because they will write "OH BOY, RECENTLY POP PICKED TOO OFFEN IN HIGH RANK, AROUND 80%. OH BOY, NERF NERF NERF!!!"
Sadly, that's the ass-backwards logic of BHVR these days, it seems.

This post got ratio'd hella hard. Think about this, dev's. Please. For YOUR sake. Not ours.
Worst case scenario for us? We stop playing. Oh well.
Worst case scenario for you guys? We stop playing. Your game dies. No more buying dlcs. No more buying cosmetics. No devoted players. No more money.
Think hard about the direction you're taking. This isn't even about ruin. It's the principle. It's that you people lack clarity. Disconnected from our own game. Think about why we use ruin... is it cause ruin is fun? No... Then I wonder why.... think about it. Hard.
Too add to that - nobody will trust anything that comes out of that studio, ever again. Deathgarden was a snoozefest of a failure, and if they kill DBD with their negligence, they'll never have another successful game.
As for the matchmaking being hidden with hiding ranks in post-game...I don't expect @Almo or anyone on the team to address this with any amount of truth. They'll come up with a shoddy excuse, just like they did for the Ruin and Doc nerfs; and of course it'll be just as paper thin.
I've gone from thinking BHVR is just a troubled game studio with their heart in the right place to now, after hearing about the attempt to sweep matchmaking issues under the rug, realizing they are a cowardly shell of a studio too afraid to admit they are incapable, or too lazy to fix something.

@Almo said:
Hi!
Just wanted to address one common concern I've seen from the community. "They nerfed Ruin so it wouldn't be hard for new Survivors."
That's not quite what the intention was. This is subtle, but bear with me.
New Ruin is in fact really brutal for new Survivors... because it is insidious. They have no idea what's happening, and they struggle to get gens done at all. That little zap effect when you take your hands off a gen? Barely noticable to a new player who's panicing because of the L3 Terror Radius they are hearing. It's not even noticable that the gen is regressing twice as fast as if the Killer had damaged it.
What we wanted to do was not "make it easy for new players" but "make it less frustrating for new players". In playtests with newer Survivor players, it was 4k with 4 or 5 gens up almost every time. But they didn't hate their time in the game as much because those red skill checks weren't in their faces.
I'm looking forward to playing on the PTB with some of you tomorrow; see you in the Fog!
Okay. How about making DS less frustrating for new players? Hell, for seasoned players too! With new killers going up against red rank survivors these days due to the atrocious matchmaking (which apparently you guys are just going to hide instead of fixing, KEK), I think that should be addressed.
Also - since ruin is no longer there to slow the progress of generators, how about nerfing perks like Prove Thyself and Leader accordingly? You're making Ruin useless, may as well make them useless too.
The fact is, you did TERRIBLE research on this supposed "data" before you committed to this nerf. Like everyone else has said, you saw something being used a lot, and nerfed it. You didn't ask the CRUCIAL balance question of WHY it's used a lot. That's called negligence.
The fact that you're nerfing an ALREADY WEAK killer, and a slow down perk to make it less frustrating for the people it's supposed to assist in DEFEATING...is backwards as all hell. This is why BHVR is a meme.
-
Last Year is a giant horses ass. 2 maps in like 5 years of development. PPFFFFT.
-
There's literally no balance reason for it.
The only reason this is being done is because they either don't want to, or don't know HOW to fix the matchmaking. So instead of figuring it out, they'll just hide everyones ranks. It ain't broke if nobody can see it. BHVR in a nutshell, really.
-
That's in the leaked patch notes...but audio is equally as important, if not more important.
-
@Almo said:
We expected outrage when doing a fundamental change to a perk used in such a large percentage of games. However, after playing with the new version, we're much happier with how it functions in the game as part of the whole system.
The reason for the outrage isn't the nerf itself. The fact that you don't acknowledge that makes us feel like you're deafened to our opinions.
It's about the fact that you saw something that has been used on a large scale...and instead of asking WHY that is the case...WHY it's being used so heavily....and trying to remedy WHY...you just nerf it into obscurity. That's not how balance works. Then again - at this point, expecting BHVR to know about balance is like expecting an apple to taste like a peach. After all, your history with balance is atrocious. But hey, I guess we should just all go play Civilization.
I don't mean that as disrespect. I'm just telling it like it is. At this point, your studio has made itself into a living meme with a barrage of terrible decisions, and buggy updates over the last 3+ years. People would be more inclined to take you guys at your word more if you proved that you listen equally to both sides.

I mean, it makes a 3 gen setup virtually impossible to escape.
That's way beside the point though. It's bad when tied to a hex perk. But doesn't mean the effect isn't powerful.
It does make the 3 gen strat strong - but again, it's a Hex totem.
And even then, apparently you can literally be banned for 3 genning for more than 10 minutes.
-
"Improvise. Adapt. Overcome. Drink your own piss."
Ahhh yes. Bear Grylls.
-
Nothin' like a good nurf.
-
Scott is right on all of those things.
In the coming months, you're going to see a HUGE influx (10x more than even now) of survivor mains complaining about camping and tunneling, and even more Mori offerings to get that one quick kill early with a quick hook and tunnel. Overall, like Scott said, killers can't play nice anymore if they want to win. If survivors thought ruin wasn't fun, OOF.
-
@Almo said:
New Ruin is extremely powerful late game. It must be a Hex Perk, or it would be OP as hell.
This is how you know that even the devs know nothing about their own game, and how it plays.
Do us a favor - stop treating is like we're idiots. Stop insulting our intelligence.
-
I think when you do things, repeatedly, that are consistently nonsensical and stupid, the limit to criticism is slowly lifted.
-
Imagine being THAT cowardly of a studio, where instead of fixing something, you simply (and quite literally) sweep it under the proverbial rug, if you will. I know this is me being blunt, but that's exactly what this is. Cowardice. They know they can't fix it, and instead of trying to find a solution, they're just going to hide the one thing thing exposes their inability.
Even Ubisoft didn't try to pull BS like this back in the AC Unity debacle. They owned up to it. Not BHVR though. "Gotta hide it! If they can't see it, it's not broken!".
-
Imagine making a thread without actually knowing about what it is you're making your thread about.
