I love the DS threads ♥️
DS is absolutely fine as it is. There is not a single issue with it, in any form at all. The ONLY people complaining, are the trash killers. Have you guys read some of the scenarios they come up with to prove they didn't tunnel? It's completely laughable.
DS adds an extra 15 seconds to a chase against a good killer that gets hit with it, but good killers rarely get hit with DS anyway, because they're already chasing down another survivor or applying map pressure elsewhere to keep more survivors off gens (that's right trash campers and tunnellers, the unhooked, the unhooker and your new target leaves one person on a gen as opposed to the upto 3 people on gens that your baby play style gives survivors, then you cry about gen rush, which only happens to same trash killers anyway)
This current form of DS is significantly better than the old one, maybe you guys would like a week of old style DS, just so you can see the difference and how much is was nurfed (and it needed it)
Personally, I think DS should only work on your last hook anyway, it should be your last chance to escape the killer before your death. No cooldowns or timers, just activates once you're picked up for your last hook.
Yes, only trash killers complain about it.
Marth, Tru3, Otz, Zubat, Ardetha...all of them. Yep, they are all trash. /s
That's a survivor bias, for ya.
-
Just slug though. Even if the exit gates are opened and they have DS, just slug them. It's not like they are still invincible and can crawl out or anything. /s

1) Slugging very much is counter play. When you slug you generate pressure similar to a hook. You avoid getting DS'd and resetting said pressure by having a survivor running around freely. Again Scott's Bubba speed limiter 4k spree he slugs like crazy and wins a lot of those games because of it.
2) Questioning how much I play killer or saying that I don't know what I'm talking about because I don't play killer or whatever is very much ad hominem.
3) There is nothing outrageous about my argument. My argument is that you can play around DS just fine and it doesn't need to be changed. Your argument is that you can't play around DS (which is false) and needs to be gutted to be so circumstantial to be pretty much worthless. You can tell me whatever else you want until you are blue in the face, but that's what it is.
- No, it's not. Cause that person can be gotten up with no penalty in a matter of seconds. Your argument is invalid.
- Questioning what you say is an attack now. Okay then, chief. OOF. 🙄 Thanks for confirming my suspicions about you.
- Yes, everything you've said is outrageous. Seriously, man. Just stop. You tossed the debate out the window when you refered to running into the killer and abusing the fact that you're invincible with DS a "good play", and having the gall to defend it like you're outplaying the killer in any way by hitting a god skill check. All that it really does is expose how broken the perk is for the game. You've even gone on to say killers who have that much of a problem with DS must not be good, when all the best killers who play the game (Marth, Tru3, Otz, Zubat etc) have the beliefs that I do. You still didn't address that, smart move on your part glossing over that. I wouldn't go down that rabbit hole either.
Give up, dude. Keep on keeping on with your DS, while you still can. You can say you don't use it all you want, I don't believe it for a second (there's that ad hominem attack again, cause how dare I question you).

Im not entitled at all. Im just giving the survivors main the same treatment that they give to the killers. Lol
Survivors and killers have equal amounts of toxicity. That being said, I don't think I've ever come across a survivor who made such ludicrous, and entitled statements like "this is my game, not yours".

Well I'm not the one complaining about a perk that has easy counter play. Or the one that doesn't seem to understand the concept of alternative uses.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Plus like I said I don't even use DS.
Maybe instead of ad hominems you should try presenting actual arguments.
Slugging is not a counter play. It does not stop it. It only postpones it; and if the exit gates are opened, you can't even slug. They'll just crawl out the door. "Counter play". That's like saying "Counterplay to Clown is to drop the pallet early!". No. Just no. Smart move avoiding calling some of the best killer mains in the community bad for believing what I believe. I wouldn't go there either if I were you. Your argument is so outrageous that it's put me and @Sairek on the same page; and me and that guy don't agree on anything.
--------------
Also - ad hominem doesn't mean what you think it means.
"an attack on an opponent's character rather than by an answer to the contentions made"
I haven't personally attacked you once; and no, telling you you're wrong repeatedly, and why, is not an attack. I'm very careful with my words. I've stayed on topic, not made any insults, threats or otherwise anything that could even be considered an attack. So don't go playing the victim card.

It would be useless because you could counter it without even trying. MOM needed a nerf but it doesn't change the fact they gutted the perk to basically F tier. You wanna talk about S tier not being balanced, well neither is F tier. Point is DS has counter play NOW, very fair and balanced counter play. Slug them. Simple as that. Or eat the DS early in the game so it's not a problem.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/966943#Comment_966943
This is a different issue, but still you can hit down the rescuer pretty consistently. Sometimes the game screws you with janky hitboxes, but 99% of the time you will just down the rescuer. Whenever it gets fixed this wouldn't even be a talking point.
The Spirit in the video provided could have simply hit down the Steve instead of grabbing him. Grabbing was the absolute WORSE decision to make. If he just hit him, that's 1 survivor down and 1 in a chase that's gonna end in 15 seconds pretty much guaranteed because he's Spirit and literally right on top of the guy at the start of the chase. He just needs to wait out BT.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/967005#Comment_967005
I actually don't even use DS dude. If you really have this much of a problem with DS sorry to say you can't be that good of a killer. It is very easy to play around.
So persistent on making excuses for it, and going against what the devs have said (that it's intended function is anti-tunnel)...but doesn't use it. Surrrre there bud. We all believe you.
Hey, I get it. You need your free escape, and that's okay. You lost the debate long ago when you called it a "good play" to parade around the killer in superman mode because you're invulnerable. It's not a good play. You're hitting a skill check. It's not a play, and you're not outplaying anyone. Survivors like you are the same ones who complain about being left on the ground and slugged, but you'll make up all the excuses in the world for DS. "Must not be a good killer". OOF. There's killer mains out there who you both run circles around you in survivor AND killer, who have issues with DS existing. Are you saying Marth isn't good? Otz isn't good? Tru3 isn't good? Monto? Edgar?
Yeah, all top tier killers, must all be bad. No, the truth is, it's survivors who rely on DS that aren't that good at the game.
Just stop. You don't have a logical platform to stand on.
You will never win this debate. It's a logical impossibility.

No, it is entirely accurate. Before dedicated servers it was happening because of the ping with the survivor connected to the killer. Whether it was dedicated servers or the killer hosting it was still the same issue, ping.
No, it's not accurate. For all the reasons I stated. There's documented history of it.

I have 3k hours so LOL at you trying to flex on me with any kind of experience.
"If it's an anti tunnel perk, how is it being gutted by making it only come into play if you're being tunneled?"
Because regardless of how you have the game even calculate this, a killer can exploit it. Or you, as survivor, get robbed of your perk for something another survivor did that was out of your control.
Also it's not explicitly an anti-tunnel perk. Stop using this argument. It's main purpose may be such, but that doesn't mean it can't have alternative uses. See my Billy chainsaw point.
"A killer should NOT have to play around DS if the survivor is throwing themselves at the killer."
Yes they should. In fact if a survivor is doing this it's like a dead giveaway that they are doing it because of DS. Don't take the bait. It's really not that hard. If you do it's your own fault for getting hit with DS.
Case and point, I played against some friends maybe a month ago as Huntress. They didn't know it was me because I was playing on an alternate account (which BTW is also red rank killer). One friend unhooks another right in my face and they both kind of run together into Ormond house. I chase them both, really only going for the one that saved, and the one that got saved jumped into a locker. So I reload at the locker next to her and continue to chase my other friend. I ended up letting them go because we are friends, but I could have won the game if I wanted to. She screamed at me for not letting her DS me out of the locker, so when I got her in another game the next day I made sure to tunnel her super hard so she could DS me for LOLs (still let her go again). Point being, she jumped in a locker A CLEAR AND OBVIOUS SIGN OF DS, so I just left her in there and chased someone else. Had I been playing to kill them all I would have do it without even needing to care about DS at all.
If you take the bait, it's your fault. PERIOD.
Are you still talking? Just saying the same stuff over and over again. You're still wrong. If it's anti tunnel, you should have no issue with it only be for anti tunnel. But no, you need your crutch. :)

It does serve you because you want to nerf DS according to that definition, which is impossible to do anyway.
Also are you saying you don't play enough killer to have an opinion? More irony.
I'm also a survivor main. Rank 1. So tell me what makes me "blind" to balance LOL.
Fact remains, a killer can play around DS. I do it all the time. I see other killers do it when I'm survivor. It's not that hard.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/966872#Comment_966872
So then gutting a perk to have such strict conditions that any brain dead killer can ignore it completely is good design? It's MOM all over again.
Just don't take the bait. I don't know how much more simply I can state this. Slug the survivor. Eat the DS if it is earlier enough. You can play around it. Stop acting like you are completely helpless, you are not.
If it's an anti tunnel perk, how is it being gutted by making it only come into play if you're being tunneled? That's it's intended purpose. Would your ability to "outplay" (skillcheck KEK) the killer be hindered if you couldn't throw yourself at him to make him "tunnel" you?
I have nearly 3500 hours in game. 20% of that being killer is far more than you have. Try again, chief.
A killer should NOT have to play around DS if the survivor is throwing themselves at the killer. If you are going out of your way to take a hit (such as a protection hit), you should be forfeiting your DS. It will happen eventually; and then players who abuse it will end up at green ranks, where they belong, because they can't "outplay" the killer with a skillcheck anymore.

It's not the definition. It's your definition.
"You manipulate and manufacturer your own definitions for things to serve you; and you go out of your way to defend scummy plays at any cost."
The irony here is immense.
"Please, go play more killer, than I'll continue to acknowledge you."
LOL so playing killer at rank 1 for over a year is not enough? Sure pal.
"There's no sense debating with someone with a one-sided mindset who doesn't know what tunneling, or balance is"
Even more ironic than before.
Except the definition I stated (which is the correct definition) doesn't serve me. It's actually a pretty neutral to both sides. I'm not the one trying to twist it to suit my agenda. Keep trying, chief. I'll shoot you down every time. You can not win this debate. It's literally impossible for you to come out on top here. No matter how long, mocking or otherwise one-sided your reply will inevitably be. It's literally out of the realm of possibility for you to be right about this, based on your previous comments alone. The devs describe the perks purpose, specifically, as anti tunnel. That's it's intended use. That's where your argument is destroyed. You lack the logical ground to stand on.
😎
EDIT: I'm a survivor main. 80% of my hours are survivor. That doesn't make me blind to balance.

That's your definition. If we poll the community there would be a lot of definitions. Regardless, how do you even program the game to recognize your definition in the first place? What if they don't hit another survivor it's counts? Okay then I just smack someone else. They don't chase someone else? Okay I just look at another survivor, they run, start chase, I continue to tunnel, that chase ends, now I'm not tunneling.
Like really whatever you come up with as a measure of tunneling in the game's terms I could easily find a work around. I guarantee it.
And yes it was a smart play. He did that to bait the killer to grab. She took the bait. His plan worked. Had she just hit him twice it wouldn't have worked. He would be slugged, she would run off and get downed in 16 seconds. Killer comes back and picks him up now that his DS is gone. Waits for Nea's DS to go. Just got 2 kills easy. But no he grabbed and got DS'd. There was no abuse of the perk at all when she could have played around it by just putting some thought into the situation.
BTW I play several killers at rank 1 for over a year now. Some examples...

Dude, the community can't even agree what tunneling actually is. Therefore it would be impossible to even program such a thing. No to mention the fact that whatever formula you come up with will likely be abused heavily by one side. See Deep Wounds.
The Steve did that knowing he couldn't be stopped. It was a smart play on his part because he was taking full advantage of his perk. Spirit grabbed him like a bot. She fell for the bait. Had she just hit him twice she would have avoided that entirely. Now instead of 2 injured survivors running around, she has 1 slugged and is in a chase with another which she should be able to win easily in 10 seconds as Spirit, 15 if she were smart to wait out BT.
Stop defending killers making dumb decisions. Survivors make ballsy plays like this expecting the killers to take the bait. If you don't take the bait you just counter played them.
It doesn't matter what the community believes it is. Tunneling has a definition.
Tunneling - when the killer ignores everyone else to go after one person, and only that one person, until they are dead.
That is tunneling. Any other BS manufactured definition is incorrect. It was NOT a smart play on his part. That shouldn't even BE a play if DS is an *anti tunnel* perk. The second he tried to hook tech and then tried to unhook someone in the killers face, DS shouldn't have activated. If DS is meant as anti tunnel, he should need to get the hell out of dodge. It was a cocky play, and abuse of the perk. He knew he was invulnerable. He didn't outplay anyone. He hit a damn skillcheck, that's all he did. It should NOT work if you throw yourself at the killer. That's not what "anti tunnel" perks are for.
Stop trying to defend it. It makes you look continuously worse. You don't have a valid opinion until you play killer for a while and realize that DS isn't used as anti tunnel. It's used as a superman perk, and that's all it's used for. So get back to me when you play killer at red ranks for a few weeks. Then I'll acknowledge your opinion; and actually do it. Don't just say "Well I play both sides". Nobody who truly plays both sides thinks like you do. Period. Your logic is completely one-sided and flawed.

"How do you counter DS?"
Slug them. Easy.
I really don't see why this is such a hard thing to do. It's 60 seconds. Slugging creates as much pressure as a hook, possibly more since it takes longer to heal a slug than rescue off the hook.
Alternatively you can just eat the DS if it is early enough. I really don't get this irrational fear of DS most killers have. If there are 4 gens left just eat the DS. Now you don't even need to worry about it later. If you play Nurse or Spirit you can catch the person again in like 10 seconds if you are good.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/965897#Comment_965897
Yes. The Steve did that knowing you would grab them like a bot. You should have just smacked him twice, left him slugged, then chased down the guy he saved and slugged them. By the time you do that and get back to Steve his DS would be gone. Easy kills.
Like this is such obvious DS bait it is 100% you fault for falling for it. Survivors don't do this kind of stuff unless they have DS, or are just a fool. If you are betting on them being a fool then you are actually the fool.
I support the OP. He makes valid points about why it's dumb to limit DS like that. DS is not that hard to play around. JUST SLUG THEM. It's not rocket science. Eat the DS if it's early enough to waste it even.
OR, DS should not proc if you throw yourself at the killer like that Steve did. If it's anti-tunnel, it should only proc when the killer is tunneling you - which is a pretty black and white, cut and dry condition. You have no idea what balance is.

That's a whole lot of words to justify tunneling, and the end result is the same: you're on the ground unable to play the game until someone comes and gets you.
And, yeah, it's not fun/fair that I get punished when my teammates make poor plays like unhooking me in front of the killer without BT. I can literally do nothing about it, aside from not getting caught in the first place (which is tantamount to just not playing the game, since no matter how good you are at some point you are going to get caught).
I don't run DS, so the rest of your rant has very little to do with me. I've already said that I think that 'if someone else is hooked and you are not in the dying state, DS deactivates' is also a fine condition.
I don't think "rant" means what you think it means. I named specific scenarios. Hardly a rant. What you're doing is ranting.
I did not justify tunneling. Even if slugged, you were not tunneled. To tunnel means chase you until you're dead. Killer slugged you. Did not pick you up, they chased someone completely different. The only reason you were put down is to punish the unhooker, not you. Another team mate is free to revive you at that point.
If you don't know what tunneling is, best not try to debate about it, chief.

Tired of people posting about bad Huntress hitboxes. There is nothing wrong with her hitboxes. It is entirely ping related. The dev stream explains the hatchet hitboxes very clearly. I know you mentioned ping as well, but the hitbox stuff shouldn't be included.
That's not entirely accurate. This was even an issue from the killer side when killers hosted the trials. When you're the host, and you throw a hatchet and hit the air 6 feet to the left of a survivor, and they take the hit...it's not a ping issue (because you're the host - it should at the very least appear to hit for you). It's a game issue.

Because its like NOED. These perks only becomes usefull when the exit gates are powered. Killer bring NOED? He can 1 hit all 4 and all those gens are wasted. All 4 Survivors have adrenaline? Still depends for each survivor (dying, injured, healthy or deep wound) plus speed burst. But when the two are present, Adrenaline is nothing like a sprint burst with 2 extra seconds while killer has a permanent speed upgrade and prevent ez hook saves and makes the survivors tremble in opening exit gates. Although it might sound like the killer has an edge, this will only come true if survivors cleanse dull totems instead of finishing all 5 gens. And this might sound an edge for survivors, but there is a high chance that not all survivors brings it also not all survivors are so eager to cleanse totems and not all survivors (most of the time) makes it to the last part of the game. So i guess that's why no one complains about it because survivors and killers are lazy discussing it considering all that i mentioned.
Show me where the objects I can destroy to prevent Adrenaline completely are, sir?

That's the problem with indoor maps, they always have opposite Exit Gate spawns.
That's why if I want a chill game as survivor, I'll just throw on a indoor map offering and the killer cannot do nothing to me, unless they are running certain builds.
Both extremes aren't okay at the end, both sides shouldn't be left with a 0% chance to complete their objective. I will always stand by that because it's just not right for the survivor or killer to give up due to poor RNG.
Both sides shouldn't be left with 0 chance, but if there's one person left and hatch was closed, the survivor should have a significantly less chance of success than killer. Currently, there is never a situation where there's 0 percent chance.
Do you know how often I've mind gamed a killer and started one gate, then went to the other one and opened it while they were searching? It's difficult, but it should be difficult. It's not impossible.

Err how's that work out if the killer immediately goes for you and downs you, then goes after someone else? You were still tunnelled and are unable to play the game until someone comes and heals you (barring running No Mither or Unbreakable) which isn't too different from being unable to play the game due to being hooked.
I think that, if we're going to add conditional deactivations, then healed to healthy and/or if someone else is hooked while you're not in a dying state avoids the problem I described above.
That is not being tunneled. What you described 99% of the time, only happens if a survivor gets unhooked right in front of the killer. They go for you and slug you ASAP. It's not tunneling so much as cucking the benevolence points of the nerd who got cocky and unhooked you in the killers face. The only one at fault for that is your jackwagon of a teammate. If you're going to sit there and say "I got unhooked in the killers face, but it's not fair that I got downed", then you have some serious entitlement issues.
How does he know where you are if he just hooked someone else? BBQ (and other aura reading perks) don't give you accurate information of who is where. They just know "there's people over here", but not who.
Either you were being foolish trying to go for a body block/flashlight save and the killer saw you, or you were working on a gen nearby and the killer found you near it. Neither of those are "tunneling". The killer chased and hooked someone else already. You hanging out near them is your own fault. You knew the risks of doing it, and you shouldn't feel safe doing it just because you have "60 seconds of invincibility".

Do you think Exit Gates spawning on the same wall is deserved for the survivor for playing poorly?
I think the doors should stay RNG. During a "last one alive" situation where the hatch has been closed, they should never have a guaranteed escape. The doors being on one side would be pretty much a guaranteed escape. For example - Lery's, Hawkins and The Game (which is the smallest map in the game from one side to the other, BTW). Having said that, the only maps I see the doors spawn opposite on are the indoor maps. I've literally never seen it on other maps. It should be there as a possibility, but not happen everytime.

The survivors are supposed to be at a heavy disadvantage during the EGC (unless all gens have been completed). If one person is left, and the hatch has been closed, the killer earned the advantage they now have.

its supposed to be anti tunnel, but its not supposed to be ONLY anti tunnel. and fine lets ner ds even more, but lets get rid of NOED while we are nerfing crutches. If you disagree you just seem to want to give killers a second chance after they make get ######### on the whole game but "muh but he gen rushed they couldve done totems even tho im a trashcan and i need noed to even get a kill" even better, we could bring back old ds ? :D
The constant comparison by survivor mains between DS and NOED always makes me laugh. Apples to Oranges.
If you get killed by NOED, you are a mediocre at best survivor.
Simple as that. I NEVER get hit by NOED. I destroy totems. There's only 5. I do that for my team, and I pip nearly every game. Even if I die. How do you counter DS? There's no way to stop it from ever coming into play. In fact, survivors rub it in the killers face by throwing themselves at the killer knowing that in that moment, they are invincible.
OOF. Comparing those two perks.
KEK
DS should not proc if someone else has been hooked. As I stated, if someone else has been hooked, you are not being tunneled. That means the only time DS would come into play otherwise is if you're cocky and throw yourself at the killer. End of story.

@The_Second_Coming the only thing there is that his bag add-ons would then serve too little of a purpose. I also wouldn't mind a Huntress type situation where he gets traps from lockers or somewhere less out of the way. Instead of unlimited traps, he would then just be hardcapped at a specific number, & his bag add-ons would still function the same. He could then have some addon reworks that increase the number of traps he gets hard capped at on a map.
His bag addons would then add to the already raised trap count. They would still serve a purpose. A Trapper with slightly less time required to gather traps is a scary thing.

It should absolutely deactivate if someone else is hooked. If someone else has been hooked, it's impossible that you are being tunneled in that moment. Period.

The game needs DS, but DS needs to not punish killers who aren't tunneling.
This. I see DS come into effect 99% of the time by survivors throwing themselves at the killer to protect a teammate because they know they are invincible for the next 60 seconds than actual tunneling.
There also needs to be a system in place where if you're grabbed, whether out of locker or during a vault, DS doesn't proc. Same with traps - if you step in a trap and are grabbed out, DS should not proc. It's not tunneling if you down yourself.

Trapper needs one thing to make him good: start with all of his traps rather than having to travel to get them.
All would be a bit much. I would say add his largest trap bag to his base kit. That's all a good trapper should need.

Oh god.
"Survivors need power"
"Survivors need more addons"
Survivor is easy mode. Survivors need nothing more than what they have.

You mean Clarke?
The male counterpart to the name Claudette...is Claude.

Claude Morel? :O

No killer, survivor, item, power, addon, or offering in the game is toxic. Ever.

4 Adrenaline procs.
For just the other day, I had a rough game on Rotten Fields. I couldn't manage to kill anyone before the exit gates were powered. So I resorted to hard slugging at the last generator, in a desperate effort to turn the tides. I got 3 on the ground, and no one had Unbreakable. Last person was injured, and had no Iron Will, so I looked out for them. Suddenly the last genrator gets done, all 4 get a free health state, and the exit gates were open before I even physically was able to get there.
Don't get me wrong. Adrenaline is not overpowered, or anything. Its just rubbing salt into the wound even more. And makes the genspeed problem even more frustrating.
I would actually disagree. Adrenaline is overpowered to an extent.

Only legitimate answer:
Because it's a casual game. It doesn't need a casual game mode to be what it already is.

I stick with my tunneling. It helps me out. So i dont care if i ruin somebody elses game. It not my fault that they want to take the game seriously. Its just a game. But i will play the way i want to play as a killer. And ne ways. Survivors keep forgetting. Its the killers match and not theres. Cuz the killer is the host and not the survivors. So the survivors really dont have the right to say ne thing at all
It's everyone's match. Even when killer was host. Survivors paid for the game, just as much as killers. Be less entitled.

Doesn't matter, it's gonna be changed 😏
Good, then it will be even easier for me to see Blendette's on the map with Freestyle. Adaptive Sharpness and contrast, bois!

For PC users, use Nvidia Freestyle.

So, I usually don't condone DCing when there's a mori. I find mori's fun, both as killer and as survivor (because unlike the overwhelming majority of sweaty betty's in this community, I know DBD is only a game)....BUT, if you bring a mori during double bloodpoints, you're either baiting DC's, or just trying to mine salt.
You're lucky they're doing it during the loading screen and not as soon as the game starts to waste your offering.
-
It's not supposed to be. It demonstrates the lack of shits the devs actually give about the killer experience. Or at least MCote.

I was watching NoahJ456 and found something in his recent sellout stream highlights, in the chat someone LITERALLY asked him to play dbd, someone who makes CoD and other shooter videos, someone in the live chat asked if he could play dbd
The world is really a small place...
I mean, even Dr. Disrespect talks about maybe playing "that scary game ANGRYPUG's always playing". So DBD has it's reach.
I'd love to see Doc in DBD. He's be the killer main, lol

Mostly all of Macmillan
I would cleanse when healthy and no where close to broken
I'm the same way, lol. It makes the games tolerable and less boring; and Plague needs all the help she gets in that regard. She's a snoozefest to play against.
As for the thread title...keep in mind, your team mates get pounds for hook rescues. They get a big fat zero if you walk out the gate with them at the end.

Oh you must have been in a lobby with me, I was memeing all night yesterday when playing dbd, cleansing at random against plag, opening exits instantly, etc
Perhaps. What map? lol

Literally, screw 99ing exit gates. I go out of my WAY to open those things.
